The Tyrant, a large battleship settled onto the docks of Rowe Rowe Island. It had been lined up next to the others on the docks but it dwarfed most of the others and outgunned those who's size were close to it to the point that it seemed almost intimidating itself. Leander stood out at far side of the boat, dressed in a black suit, pants, and leather shoes with and red tie. He had groomed himself well for today, his greying black hair slicked back and his salt and pepper beard shaved into a fine goatee of pure evil. He was almost ready to hop down onto this island he hadn't expected to come back to. It hadn't been that long since his departure from this island and he had only come back for one reason this time to his displeasure. To find out what happened to his money and drugs. His anger was boiling to a rage however he was doing his best to keep it under check however the glare he cast as he looked on the island and its people, who stared back at him shocked at the arrival of the large vessel, still would not go away.

Luckily Yuffie who had transformed into a small field mouse and slept in his pocket reminded him to keep his calm in this situation. She had insisted on coming with him in case he needed her despite his arguments against it. The only person now he was waiting on was Ryan whom he had found actually wasn't that bad of a guy to have around. Plus Ryan seemed more intelligent about situations like this. It was Ryan's opinion of the situation that Leander considered vital since the early stages of his operation could not risk being screwed at this moment and if Ryan suspected any foul play then there was likely something wrong going on. There was one person above all that he had to speak to on this island, and that was Gils. The council member whom he had spoken to mostly and whom had given his word. If anyone knew what was going on that man would.

Letting out a deep sigh as he was waking up, Ryan had taken a rest in Leander's ship. The trip wasn't that long, the ship was faster than it looked judging by it's size. in any case, over the past few days, Ryan had been feeling uncomfortable and a bit tired. For one, he was sailing along with a notorious pirate who wanted to recruit him in his crew and secondly... He felt alone again. These past few months with Nyx and the crew had gotten so lively and despite him actually being opposed to the banter and frequent arguments with Nyx, it seems you really learn to cherish something after you lose it. Opening his eyes in the rather spacey bedroom it was still undecorated or anything like that. Not like there was any time, Leander seemed to be going in a bee-line for this island. Speaking of which, despite Ryan not particularly favouring the guy, he turned out to be better than he first anticipated. Not like he opened up to the guy but he wasn't half bad a conversational partner for smalltalk.

Ryan mostly kept to himself, thinking of how to get out of this mess. In the process of mingling with the crew, his irritation caused him to lecture and beat up random workers and lecture Leander on his sloppy business practises. You can't get money out of a dead guy and this guy just threatens to kill everyone, fucking hell it was hard to teach basics. In any case as he woke up a bit late, the conman didn't really feel like getting out of bed. But considering the ship had arrived just earlier now and it was still dark out on this shitty island, Ryan was still sleepy. That and he didn't want to get out anyway. He was stuck with no means of personal communication with the outside world. Getting up in a seated position, he rubbed his eyes and stood up from the bed, stretching himself. Shaking his head as he walked over to a chair with his clothing he put on the same pair of lightly bloodied black suit pants, white bloodied jack, his shirt was still ruined so none of that. His signature shoes to follow up and accessories like the log pose which wasn't actually a log pose, the bead bracelet he got before around his wrists. To finish up his scarf sticking out his back pants-pocket and a simple white bandaid over the new scar on his temple. He didn't really want to face that just yet.

Having everything he needed, he walked off out of the bedroom and was headed for the main deck. Hands in his pockets and chin a bit down, Ryan wasn't feeling it today. This place was rumoured to be a shitstorm, why did this suck so much... Not like he could start a fight either, the whole island would be on him. Fucking Rowe Rowe Island, it had to be this place of all places? Heading up the stairs Ryan couldn't deny it wasn't a bad spot for Leander's business that he was trying to set up. Apparently they were picking up money today for some drugs he gave them. Not sold, not put down and they forgot the down payment, no, the dude just literally gave the a bunch of drugs and bolted. Ryan'd be stomping his head till he got it if he did that under his supervision. Such a naive guy... But on the bright side it was a pirate island. If anyone should be afflicted by this crap it's this hellhole right? Then again Ryan was from a pirates' hellhole himself, who was he to condemn judgement upon this island. Given it was far more extreme but still. The moral implications of it all bothered him a bit, more so than ever before strangely.

Walking out into the open deck the marine in disguise was scratching his head in thought over it all and noticed he was the last to arrive at this place. Sighing he didn't really do a greeting: "Sorry for being late... Where we going on this island? Or hang on better yet, just take the lead and I'll follow. Let's get this over with as soon as possible..." Ryan spoke with a deep sigh following his words. If it wasn't obvious he wasn't in the mood. Something caught his eye though when he did open them. Yuffie wasn't here. The energetic somewhat infatuated-with-the-conman-temporary-companion assistant of Leander. "Oh seems I'm not the last one. Wasn't Yuffie insisting on coming along? I figured she'd be here first of everyone else..." the marine captain added. It didn't cross his mind she was in her zoan form but then again, he probably never paid attention to her being a devil fruit user as well. Maybe she did transform in his vicinity but The past few days, Ryan was so lost in his own thoughts sometime that a small brown mouse was not exactly something he'd notice too soon.

"Nah, she's here." Leander said contentedly patting his pocket while looking down at where she was. "She just didn't get much sleep last night so she transformed into a mouse and decided to take a nap in my pocket unless needed." Looking over at Ryan he noticed the guy was still wearing those same ruined clothes, covered in blood from the first night he'd shown up half-dead in the sea. "You know you probably could buy some nice clothing here for cheap. Stolen most likely if that bothers you as the moral type but i'm sure there's a few legally owned businesses around here. After all this is a shop island catering to criminals who'd need a place to spend money without worry.", he suggested.

Looking down at the people in the city from his ship he noticed a few were smiling and laughing uncontrollably. A couple seemed lethargic and so happy they had no desire to move as they simply laid on the ground. While he knew these were symptoms of Bliss, the drug he had created he couldn't be sure without actually studying them up close. His drugs had for sure had gotten out to the marketplace yet he hadn't seen even a single beli as payment. Something for sure had happened and the only thing he could think of off the top of his head was that Gils or someone had double crossed him. "Well let's get going then. The council here meets under a shitty little pub thats apparently the big place on this island. I would have expected better for a group that runs a island but... pirates" Leander said, the last bit with a hint of disgust. He had mixed feelings about pirates. On one hand he viewed them as downright cool from many of the ones he had met but just as many others had been, dirty, uncivilized, cruel, and even idiotic at worst. Despite his feelings for pirates however he was about ready to leave the ship and get on with their journey into the island to meet with one in particular.

"Huh... So she transformed into a mouse... Is everyone on this ship a devil fruit user or something..." Ryan spoke with a mix of disbelief, surprise and annoyance. Not like he was that annoyed about the girl being a devil fruit user, it was just a bit an unpleasant surprise. Now that he thought about it, a mouse was pretty sneaky... Then again Yuffie didn't seem like the type to pull anything strange so Ryan just wrote it off with a sigh and made a mental note for himself about her ability. From what he remembered on the rundown about devil fruits from Albatross, back when he got his own, people who could transform into animals were of the zoan type. Right, he faced one of those before, they got physical abilities if he remembered correctly... Then again, what particular physical abilities could a mouse get... Perhaps some sort of speed? Ryan was more interested in why a girl like that would eat a devil fruit in the first place? Probably none of his business.

"I don't want to change clothes until I can do so properly. Listen to yourself, suggesting me to go shop in some black market stolen clothing store. It's not an option for 2 reasons. For one this suit was custom tailored. It's my favourite brand and until said brand hits mainstream, I'm not switching. The fabrics used are of high quality and even now, it fits better than anything this hellhole can offer. I don't expect you to understand..." Ryan continued quite annoyed as he walked over to the edge of the ship, following Leander. No one understands the pain of looking anf feeling fashionable. Oh who was he kidding, he really just didn't want to wear some kind of filthy pirate garb. "Reason number 2: this island is a shithole where people beat on each other for fun. Now, pretend you're an average guy... No logia, no particular strength just you and whatever rusty weapon you own. Would you mess with a guy who's dressed like me right now? I think you'd shit your pants if I asked you absolutely anything. So, I'm rather comfortable thanks." The marine in disguise added as Leander seemed to be gazing onto the island. Judging by the direction of his gaze, Ryan could somewhat tell what he was looking at.

A bit puzzled still as to why the smoke man didn't even ask for a basic down-payment, Ryan saw the druggies and got a bit curious. "You're one to talk about pirates, you give people a metric shitton of drugs and don't ask for payment, sail around and get lost for weeks on end... Then again, I'm the one floating in a small boat in the middle of nowhere, dying. Honestly, at this point we're both hypocrites if we judge them for their business. I still intend to rectify my mistakes, so I hope this goes as fast as possible..." the conman retorted to Leander's banter in the same tone the man of smoke did. It really was hypocrite in his case, though Ryan wasn't a pirate and he wasn't in the best of moods going in solo on an island that hung his type out in public if they got the jump on him. Maybe in the past he'd be nervous of setting foot in a place like this but right now, he had his devil fruit powers and he had a good grasp on how to use them at this point. His expression bored more than annoyed, sleepy more than irritated, the marine followed his temporary pirate ally into the town, hoping this would all just go smooth.

Sheepishly Leander tried to hide the color from his face as he turned away from Ryan as he had been looking at the man as they spoke since eye contact was important. It he had to admit hadn't been his brightest idea to just had over the drugs. He could have said in his defense he didn't think of that since it had been his first time ever doing something like this but admitting to stuff like that would do nothing to redeem himself plus it was embarrassing to ever admit to something. He did find Ryan's answer about the clothing issue to be of great interest however. This guy seemed to be something of fashion diva... not that he didn't believe so before but this pretty much confirmed it. He'd rather have cheap non-bloodstained clothes than ones worth millions of beli but covered in blood, and he wasn't buying Ryan's excuse about wanting to be scarier than the pirates.

Luda Mier, council member of Rowe Rowe Island, was on the dock's today for no real reason. He just enjoyed his strolls in the sun. It helped him relax and think a bit about certain things. He often sometimes wondered why he ever joined the council as it was a cesspool of barbarism when you factored in that oaf known as The Gladiator, the man knew nothing but violence and killing. But he knew the council served a good purpose, they made a safe place for people hunted by the government no questions asked due to their protection and they kept those criminals from ravaging the world by the appeal of being able to stay here for awhile worry free from almost any laws. On the other hand it had grown quite boring. In his younger days he had seen himself as a prince of the island but now he felt more so like a tired babysitter than anything. At least he still dressed like a prince however wearing a fine silk shirt much too long for him to the point where it appeared almost to be a robe with the sleeves pulled up to expose his hands and the bottom down almost to his knees as well as his purple leather pants.

His long fading blonde hair was tied into a ponytail as sweat dripped from his alabaster pale forehead. His walk had gone on for long enough and he was about to walk home, kicking away the deadbeat addicts who littered the island as of lately. It was an odd quirk of fate that made him take any notice of the ship but he did and his eyes they say grew 5 sizes larger that day as he felt a cold and shocking chill crawl up his spine. Picking the den den out of his pocket he held it up to his face as he spoke low but firmly with no small amount of aggravation into it. "Jack... Jack! Wake up!" "Huh... whats that?" "Get the hell out of bed this instant. Do you have any idea who is here?!" "Um... no... no I do not. Whats all this shouting about?" "It's Leander Motherfucking Hastings, thats who! I thought you said you had this taken care of? Fucking Buddha. You had one job to do you bastard! What is this?! You said if the bastard survived to even reach the florian triangle that you had sent an assassin out to kill him." "Wait what... he's here?! Shit. I knew I should have gotten someone more reliable. Oh well let me deal with it." "You better because we are this fucking close to having our own scientists coming up with the exact formula for that drug he gave us and if he notices all the people here addicted to it, which he will since he made the original formula, then we're fucked!" Suddenly the den den went dead in his hands as he realize McGilly had probably had enough of being screamed at as well as the man was most likely on his way. Biting his lower lip Luda was suddenly worried about what would happen as this was as close to a disaster as this island had ever come to.

With a yawn Leander leaped down onto the wooden planks that creaked so loudly from the force that Leander suspected they might have broken if he had been just a bit rougher. With a determined look in his eye Leander walked past the people laying on the ground and laughing idiotically to themselves. His destination was the shitty little bar where the council met and no beast or man would stop him. He reflected back on his first time here suddenly realizing that Ryan had very little information on what this town was like. "Hey Ryan. Stay alert. This island is as you would expect extremely dangerous. They let loose wild animals all the time to hunt people and be hunted as well. Its entirely a town based on whoever is the strongest makes the rules and the weak or careless will be quickly taken down. I like you well enough so far that I don't want you getting killed." He grinned halfheartedly as he looked back at the fellow pirate captain figuring that Ryan by now would understand he was joking since he considered them very good acquaintances, though perhaps not real friends yet.

What a joker this guy was. Ryan sighed at Leander's belittling joke. Mostly out of lack of humour in the actual joke but also because nothing on this island was of any concern to Ryan. If they tried something, they could feel his wrath because he was in no mood to deal with it all. "Gee, thanks for caring. I'm pretty sure I can hold my own if push comes to shove. Let's just hope these idiots don't try to push me or else I'll shove them up their own assholes..." the conman spoke, somewhat shuffling his feet as he moved along. The town around him was just as he expected, though it was worse than Osula, it was still very similar. The darkness in the alleyways, the stench of the streets was stronger but oh so familiar. It brought up unpleasant memories for Ryan just being in this place. it was a past he was trying to leave behind him. Those days back then were nothing but violence and fighting for your right to breathe. And this all was just another step back into it all.

How the mighty have fallen so they say. From a somewhat normal and luxurious life as a marine officer to hanging around slums with some pirate he was hoping to never run into. Quite the downfall. Ryan scowled when he saw some bums laughing their asses off, clearly high out of their mind, as the two men and one little mousegirl strolled on by past them. They didn't know of the mouse but still. "Is this... Laughter your doing? Seems like they're prospering quite well on your hard work. I don't know a thing about making drugs though so what's so special about this bath you handed out to a bunch of greedy pirates... For free." Ryan added the last part to rub it in Leander's face a bit more. It seemed odd to the young man that this all was taking place in public. Whoever ran this island clearly had no intention of benevolence for it's citizens if this was going on in uh... Well, he couldn't exactly say broad daylight considering the perpetual shade on this island. Sighing again, as they walked on even further, it seemed like the place was just getting worse the deeper they ventured into it.

As they crossed a small junction, Ryan could hear growling behind him. Following Leander a bit ignorant of his surroundings it seems the wild dogs he mentioned earlier were on his tail. "Great... You meant these guys? They look infested man..." the conman spoke in annoyance as the dogs circled them like vultures. Ryan grit his teeth a bit. One of the dogs got particularly hungry or whatever and decided to jump on him, from behind but Ryan had no trouble hearing that thing's growls. Turning around and smacking it, straight in it's gut with his right leg, using a roundhouse kick. The dog was sent flying across the street until it crashed into some kind of fruit stall or whatever, breaking it down and ruining whatever business the man behind it was running. "Get the hell out of my way..." Ryan glared at the remaining dogs as they suddenly turned their tails between their legs and started running. The marine captain put down his foot on the ground and sighed. "Can we just step it up already? I really don't want to spend a single second longer than I have to here..." he spoke somewhat frustrated.

"Pretty much its the most harmless thing in theory and from a few tests on the market and simply makes people happy, thats it. Hence the name Bliss. A safe and fun drug. Can you imagine that?" He said clearly expecting Ryan to understand why this was such a wonderful discovery as he seemed to grow further and further into a zealous fervor explaining his drugs. "No more deaths from people too miserable with their lives from those nasty drugs filled with deadly chemicals. And it could even be used to calm hostile individuals without the need for force!" Looking around though it became clear that this was not his creation. These people were showing reactions far beyond what he had noticed in trials. "I can't be sure but it looks like this isn't exactly what I designed however. These people seem... different... as if they're in a different world."

"Yeah lets get moving." He said dismissing them from his thoughts at Ryan's urge to move forward. He could later figure out this mystery, although the scientific aspect of all of this was fascinating to him as he ran ideas through his head and stroked his own ego over the brilliance it had taken to create what he had. He almost had even ran straight into McGilly while not thinking of where he was going. The man was dressed in a torn grey shirt, it clearly had seen better days just like the man who's age showed in his wrinkled face and grey hair. Yet again he wore his twin diamond swords at his side next to green shorts. It looked like he had rushed out of bed by his expression and the random style of clothing he wore. "Oh hey Hastings. What're you doing back here? I heard you were on the island again. And who's your... friend." He said staring at Ryan trying to figure out why the guy looked so familiar. It took several seconds and his eyes widened in recognition before he made the dumb mistake to open his mouth in surprise. Quickly calming his reaction so that it was barely noticeable.

Seems like Leander was quite proud of his creation. Ryan raised an eyebrow as he explained what the drug was supposed to do and how it didn't do what he expected. Judging by the lab he had set up and the amount of time he spent in it, plus the complicated shit he talked about with Yuffie at least had shown Ryan he wasn't an incapable doctor. That and his formula healed Ryan within the day from a wound that a regular man would have died to. Screw-ups happen of course and Ryan knew as much about the chemistry behind it all so he dismissed it as some sort of side-effect. Maybe overusing it was what would cause this effect? Ryan was certain Leander didn't test it that excessively. In any case, it was none of his business so he dismissed it. Moving on, through the streets, the smoke man was about right however. It didn't seem like a harmless drug, the people lying around were completely out of it. "I don't think I'm one to judge but... For as much as it seems like a valid business opportunity, I don't particularly like the creation of things like this. Weaponised, bastardised, it's just another tool in the hands of the wrong people to rise to power. But like I said, I'm not exactly a saint myself so I'm not in a position to preach morals..." Ryan added a bit sadder in his tone as he took another look at the people around him.

There was always that dilemma in his heart with stuff like this. On one hand, he just wanted to make the best out of his own life and not care about others, though over the past couple months he learned what it's like to care again. What if good people get stuck in bad things? It's not something they deserve in any way, so why should they suffer? Much of it all was a grey area to him now still. He had done some pretty heroic things over the time that passed despite the fact that he considered himself more of a villain. And now he was helping another morally ambiguous person do something he didn't fully approve of. Ryan did owe him his life but still... Shaking his head at the thoughts it seemed they ran into some old man with swords by his side. The old man seemed familiar with Leander and despite the scruffy look he had, Ryan could tell the swords he carried around were quite expensive. What was the shocker in this all was the man's face and how he paused on it when he saw Ryan. Raising an eyebrow in response as Ryan seemed to notice the man knew something about him, it was quickly dismissed.

The old man tried to hide his surprise and Leander surely wouldn't notice but it didn't slip past Ryan. It was his job after all to notice these sorts of things. If the white haired bastard recognised him, they'd have a problem though. Ryan's look became a bit more serious in it all and so was his tone: "Name's Ryan... Long story short, he found me out at sea and is offering me a ride after I help him a bit. We're acquaintances that's all..." Ryan replied a bit cold, looking the man in his eyes to observe his reaction. The eyes never lied and this man looked like a smooth liar. Or at the very least a liar, the conman had his doubts it was that hard to lie to a gullible person like Leander or anyone else on this island. Plenty of suckers and given by the looks of this place, the marine captain had no doubts that someone was profiting off someone, somewhere on this island. Be it violence or smooth words, in the end they were all thieves. Taking gold and jewellery was one thing, others took life and worst of em all took innocence. In many ways, Ryan was certain that there were punishments worse than death happening every day, even on this island. And this guy looked like he profited off it.

The doctor had nodded as Ryan spoke his opinion of the drugs. He could understand Ryan's position as it was a sensible one easily debatable with facts. When he ran into the old pirate however everything changed. Leander grinned forgetting where he was, it wasn't a friendly look however and his dark eyes reflected the true merit of his half smile. He didn't take any notice of Ryan or the pirate council member's words nor the hidden meanings in their expressions. Folding his arms across his chest he approached the man looking down at him similar to what one would expect a lion would look upon some small defenseless animal that was about to become food. "Jack... you know I never got my money. Me and my friend here were wondering about that. Do you happen to know anything?" Quickly his eyes shifted to Ryan, hinting without words that he was hoping the man would be able to deduce the situation going on from the council member's response.

Jack McGilly was no fool, he had learned long ago to have a plan atop a plan with a backup plan when deal with the lower regions of society. At the smallest turn of events a throat could be slit. He wondered what the bounty hunter weekly star Ryan Glasglow was doing here with Leander. Grinning himself and forgetting just what danger was going on for himself he debated whether or not he could use Ryan since the longer he thought about it the more likely it seemed that Hastings had no idea who his traveling companion really was. The more pressing issue however was with Leander asking for his money. That damn assassin had failed him, he was a known devil fruit specialist killer and came cheap as well since he lived on the island completely free. Well there goes to show you got what you paid for since obviously this bastard was still alive and in front of him at this very moment.

He had been forced to improvise and come up with a lie while rushing over to here. Pirate on pirate crime was fairly common in the world. It's what happens when you funnel so many criminals into a world with limited resources and spoils to be gained as well as the egos that come with them. Last he had heard the revolutionary group known as the white hairs had been expanding and had a few divisions in the grandline, and one of their most famous attacks had been on a drug base in Shikomitsu. It was a flimsy excuse but one that was hard to disprove and Leander although temperamental and with poor self control seemed like the type who would at least consider it. "Yeah sorry the guys we sent out to hand over your part of the beli were attacked. The ones who survived said they thought it seemed to be a white hair division. Their leader was last spotted on Cactus Island but they've got several groups working with them. Also the crap you gave us never wore off i'm sure you've seen the people lying on the street too happy and stupid to even eat or drink anything." Of course everything he said had been a lie but he was a man used to it and it came off his tongue as easily as snakeskin.

Leander hearing the response turned to Ryan once more hoping he could get a reading from him whether he believed the excuse. Personally it seemed way too easy of an explanation but there was no way to disprove it and he had heard this island was kept from being over taken by the marines by someone very important so he was hesitant about making trouble without good cause. "Is that so?" He said obviously skeptical about it all, as his eyes narrowed on Jack hoping he could intimidate the man into spilling anything he knew.

Part of him just wanted to laugh and scream "Liar Liar, Pants on fire!" but Ryan wasn't as childish to express that feeling out loud. But it was an obvious lie to cover something up. Ryan didn't know what or why but figured it was for greed. The formula probably picked up and they don't want to pay up. "Why didn't you send a message to him sooner then? Why wait for him to come down to this hellhole to explain this? And if you got robbed that's your issue. You still have a responsibility to pay up for provided goods. Plus what does it matter if they're stuck like this, by now you've probably run out of the stuff to sell anyway and should have contacted Leander for more. Or is there something that kept you from doing so?" Ryan spoke, still as serious as ever. There were so many holes in his excuse it wasn't even fun ripping it apart. Walking over a bit to the side to examine one of the subjects of this "Bliss" drug, Ryan didn't really take much note of it all. He didn't particularly care or have an expertise in this but that's some this Jack guy didn't know.

"Even so, there's even more flaws to your excuse. The white hairs are set as a revolutonary group. Them attacking a pirate money courier is a bit far fetched to me. Additionally, their leader, this... Zain guy only has a 30 million bounty or something last I heard. You're saying you sent a millions worth money transport and they couldn't handle a guy like that? Quite pathetic if you ask me." Ryan continued as he stood up, removing his hands from his pockets for the first time since he set foot on this island. Making a sarcastic shrug and shaking his head he sighed. "I don't believe a word this guy is spouting Leander... Is there something of worth on this island? I think we should... Repossess something as a down-payment for now. Either that or we break a couple legs till they pay up." the conman continued. Taking a few steps forward again, he approached Jack and stood right next to Leander now. "See, the trick is to break their toes first. They lose their sense of balance after that. making them run like a newly born deer, it's not even a chase. On their first fall, you break the first bone. They have to get up again after that and run on. On their next fall, you break another."

Ryan was describing this torture method ever so vividly. Adding in visualisations of snapping bones with hand gestures and the right slower pressure in his speech at certain key words, his expression. Perhaps Jack wouldn't be so intimidated by it all but this is how you treat oilsnake sellers. "The important thing is to keep them alive however. Dead men don't pay and are just garbage. Murder is for cowards. Most people give up around 7 bones. Those who are exceptionally greedy keep fighting until we reach their hips. But I don't think that will be necessary..." the conman spoke as his tone suddenly got a little bit happier and an arrogant smile formed on his face. "How about you give us a real answer and for now... Give me your swords. What are they made of? Some sort of composite material? Maybe it'll be worth a couple ten millions once we de-construct and sell the base somewhere. Good enough as a down-payment wouldn't you agree, Leander?" Ryan spoke as he turned to Leander with the same smile. Shortly after, his expression changed however.

Becoming more serious again, Ryan had to somehow point out that this guy couldn't be trusted. Once he'd leave, Ryan could formulate a plan of how to deal with this guy and the money with the smoke man but for now he couldn't really say much about it. The snake was still amongst them.

Leander watched Ryan get into character, amazed at the way he handled the situation and was able to deduce everything. It was like watching a master pianist at work but with words and logic. There was a strange beauty to it all. He could see even McGilly was effected by the outraged and shocked expression upon the man's face which gave him complete satisfaction. He was glad in this moment to have brought Ryan with him. Although he was far from dumb he often times didn't think too heavily over matters and wound up in predicaments such as this. Without Ryan here he would have fully believed every single word this man said.

As it turned out Ryan got even more deeply into his routine after examining some bum. Leander lifted his brow up in curiosity as the guy began describing perhaps the most cruel form of torture he had ever heard of. It was strange yet amusing to see this turn of events and change that had been brought out in Ryan. Clearly he had a dark side to him and it was strangely satisfying to see it come out. It was simply proof to Leander that everyone is capable of great acts of evil when given reason so why should he be hard on himself for when he made mistakes.

"Yeah. A down payment sounds like it'd be a good idea for insurance until we get this straightened out." He said hoping to cut Jack off since he seemed about ready to speak after Ryan mentioned taking the swords. The man wouldn't be silenced however and drew both swords, looking about ready to cut Ryan. "You don't know who you're dealing with. We have a deal with a great man to keep the likes of you off this island so why are you here bounty hunter?! Yeah thats right Leander I bet you didn't know your new buddy here with Nyx just awhile ago on the cover of Bounty Hunters weekly! Are you really going to trust that type of person? He's probably been waiting for the right moment this entire time just to kill you!"

Sensing the sudden tension in the air as a fight seemed ready to break out Leander tensed up. His eyes darting to Ryan as his suspicions about the man hiding something were confirmed. However what Jack didn't factor in was that Ryan could have killed him at any point during the ride here, especially with that ability which removes a devil fruit user's abilities. So while perhaps they weren't close enough to be friends he at least trusted Ryan enough not to be backstabbing him as there had been plenty of chances before which had not been taken.

Smoke pouring off from his body he darted in front of Ryan in an attempt to take back control as well as to guard him from any attacks. "Settle down old man. You value your life so you should know it would be foolish to fight me. The first time I was here you said you wanted me gone from the island since I was a a danger to the island and you couldn't win against me in your opinion. So lets not get hasty." Looking back, perhaps foolishly so as in that moment Jack McGilly had debated on cutting his head off while Leander was distracted, Leander faced Ryan. "So is what he said true?"

Sighing as the man drew his swords and Leander jumped between them, Ryan was still as calm as ever. His expression set on dead serious, it seems Leander at least picked his side in this all which was good. Not like the conman was planning on backstabbing him, it'd just be a real pain if he decided to pick a fight, right here, right now. Thankfully he didn't. What surprised Ryan was that Leander had his doubts in him all of a sudden. There was little reason to doubt him however, as if Ryan wanted to kill Leander for his bounty in the first place. And even then he had plenty of chances to pull it off so he was a man of his word to Leander. It kind of stung morally to do such a thing after he saved him and gave him shelter of sorts. Ryan cringed at the thought of it but he couldn't lie to Leander over this. However there was a little of cover-up required in this particular question. "Partially... I was featured on said magazine with Nyx, but I'm not a bounty hunter. Long story short, I helped defeat this guy with a bounty and they wanted me along with Nyx in the shoot and interview..." the man spoke a bit fond of the memories.

For a moment there he actually got a slight giggle. Shaking his head he continued: "Nyx and I are not bounty hunters, we were just there to stop some asshole pirate from doing something bad and sending a poor innocent girl into a lifelong slavery. And quite honestly that's one of the few things where I draw the moral line. The magazine featured us simply because well... Not sure if you've ever seen Nyx but she makes heads turn. And as you already saw, I'm surprisingly popular myself. Not that I ever wanted to be nor do I care or let it get to me but point is... I'm not a bounty hunter, just a guy who believes he did the right thing back then. I serve no god and no man but I believe in doing something with my power. The right thing." Ryan added seriously, quite unlike his malicious tone before. Making a short laugh he realised how silly he must have sounded just now with the torture description. "I know it didn't come out right after that vivid explanation of torture just now but let's say I fight evil with evil and help the good with... Something that's as close as it gets to good. I'm still adjusting to being a... Hero? Yeah, I guess I've been sorta heroic lately..." he contemplated as his gaze shifted to his wrist and the black bead bracelet. Grabbing it with his hand gently, he smiled as he ran through the beads.

The little girl back on Nemea gave him this. It was the first gift he ever got from helping people ever since he joined the marines. He actually amde a difference for the good that day. Shaking his head a bit as he might have been getting a bit too sentimental. Letting go of it and turning his gaze back to Leander he only had one more statement to make. "So... Believe me or not, up to you. But I could have killed you already if I wanted to and quite honestly I don't intend to unless you cross a line I can't agree with. So how about it old man? You gonna hand over the swords or just stand there all threatening?" Ryan spoke as he cracked his knuckles and got into a very loose combat stance with his right foot and shoulder directed towards the man. Hopping a bit on his tips, it seemed like something you'd see in a classic Kung Fu movie. Not that Ryan cared, he loved those movies. "If you're itching for a fight, I'll gladly relieve you of your swords and your ability to sit up straight for a couple weeks. Oh another thing..." Ryan spoke as he raised his right hand, palm towards the black sky and winked him over in a taunt.

"I couldn't give less fucks about who runs this island or who cut what deal. My business is with you, not him and you owe my acquaintance here a lot of money. So cough it up and explain yourself because my patience for this place is running thinner than your hairline, old man..."

Leander nodded to Ryan, comfortable in the response he had gotten. Everything made sense although it was questionably too perfect of an excuse but he trusted Ryan to an extent so far that such disbelief could be dismissed. It was now up to McGilly. With a glare directed at the man he held out his hand, palm outward in a calming gesture. "Alright you played your trump card and it didn't work. Now what can you do to placate us until we know for sure what is going on?" He didn't need these two at each other's throats right now, especially when his mind was trying to contemplate all the facts. It seemed they were a hair away from breaking into a death match at the moment and he was trying to play detective... and poorly at that. It was very important especially considering Jack's implication that someone important was in charge on the island that he didn't know about.

Growling low in his throat Jack could see his idea had not worked and he was running out of options. He could only hope at best that Leander would go off and his revenge would be sated with The White Hairs. They were innocent really of course but that didn't matter, dozens of rookie crews end up being crushed every year and they had no impact on this island. It was an unlikely scenario but it was the only thing that he could think of and it would at least buy them some time to prepare and if truely lucky the assassin would kill him while he searched for that crew. "Listen buddy." He puffed up his chest attempting to get in Ryan's face and appear intimidating just as part of the act mostly to seem indignant about the situation which wasn't too far from the truth. "I don't take orders from any of you. However I do owe Leander a bit of something and although I don't have much valuables to give offhand apart from my swords which will not be leaving me I do have plenty of men whom work under the council. I can let you have at least 50. Technically they would be helping you catch the white hairs since our business arraignment is important to the island as well since it gives us a continued profit source even if your product isn't perfect yet. However we both know they'd really be hostages for you. I'm really stretching out my hand in good faith on this one so can you please cut me some slack?"

Leander saw what the man was saying and saw some sense in it but with everything he'd heard today it still wasn't full convincing and the hostages as McGilly had called them sounded more like they'd be watching him the longer he thought about it. He didn't trust anything that this guy was saying any longer but there was real no way to be completely sure unless he went and found the answers for himself. "Alright. Does that work for you Ryan? We take a little journey and find out for certain whats going on. If its not exactly how McGilly said things happened we come back and blow up the place and take whatever the spoils of war that remains here." Leander said it completely casual, as if he were tired even, shaking his head and yawning. However the statement was rather a extraordinary and Jack was clearly freaked out over how and what had been said as his eyes grew wide "You wouldn't dare!" Sighing he responded quickly "Yes I would. If you really are screwing me over I can't afford to show weakness at this critical moment."

As the smoke man was trying to mediate between the two, Ryan lowered his hands and sighed. Putting them back into his pants pockets the annoyed expression returned and the blond male shook his head. If Leader didn't want a fight, the least he could do was not pick one himself. For one the guy seemed to trust him and least believe his explanation for now. Not like it was a lie anyway, Ryan barely had lied to the man so far. If anything he only hid details about himself from him but that was basically it. He avoided answering certain questions and such but other than that, the two had somewhat of a trust relationship so he was glad Leander didn't suddenly decide to turn on him based on the word of a pirate. A badly dressed one at that. The conman sighed once more once Jack seemed to try and trump him in intimidation but his words held no weight. Maybe to some mook they did but Ryan didn't care for the man's hasty speech. "... I certainly don't take orders from old geezers like you. Maybe if you can order back your greying hair then I'll listen..." Ryan retorted with a bit of snark before the old man went on his tantrum.

Seemed like he wanted to offer some other kind of compensation instead of the swords and that wasn't something he was planning on accepting. Offering 50 men as hostages? He didn't care one lick about those men and Ryan knew it the moment those words left that man's mouth. "This guy obviously doesn't give a single fuck about those 50 men. This all seems like a hoax to me to get you to leave so they can keep stalling payment. Or maybe even worse because you know, pirates. This just reeks of bad news but you know what, it's your business." Ryan spoke as he turned to Leander. Making a serious expression with a frown, Ryan raised his right hand and pointed at Leander. "You can keep fucking up right now or you can do the smarter thing. If you want trust this lying scumbag, that's up to you. I wouldn't. I would ask for his swords and then take them if he didn't pay up because that would at least cover fucking travel costs. It's like this guy is living a pampered life on this island and doesn't know there's fucking fish swimming out there that are bigger than this place entirely. So quite honestly, my patience may be running really thin right now and I would have done more than just talking right here, right now but..." the marine in disguise contemplated out loud as he shook his head.

Putting his hand back in his pocket, Ryan turned his back to the group and walked a few steps towards the docks before stopping and sighing again. "What does your heart tell you to do? What do you think... Is the right thing? Figure that out and do it. But don't pussyfoot around. Or I'll do what I think is the right thing and then you can see why they should be fearing me as much as they fear you..." the blond man added in a low growl. It was more than obvious his patience with this liar had run thin but considering he was Leander's business partner, he didn't exactly want to fuck over the guy who saved his life over a little impatience. Raising his head up to the sky Ryan also shook his head at Leander's social interaction skills. Man, was this guy just awkward sometimes? "Dude, whenever you think something, do you just blab it out loud like that all the time? I mean yeah, that's the idea but you don't fucking tell people that you can't show weakness. Ugh... My sweet merciful red string of fate... What have I gotten myself into..." The young man scolded Leander as he scratched the top of his head. To say he was a handful was an understatement.

Hearing Ryan once more Leander realized he'd have to tell Ryan his full thoughts in order to convey his reasoning even though he didn't wish to in front of their current company. Ryan was making completely rational arguments which he understood but Leander was frankly worried about starting more trouble than necessary if he could avoid it. He had been lucky so far but eventually luck would run out and the last journey with Izuru had landed him in the presence of 3 vice admirals, each whom were as strong as he was. If someone was strong enough or had that much influence to keep the marines who had a numerous amount of men like that from interfering on this island Leander didn't want to just mess with them casually. That seemed to be the level of influence a yonkou or government official would have.

"Fear you? You're covered in blood. You look like you got your ass kicked and kept the clothes to appear intimidating. Thats one of the more common tricks pirates use here to appear more frightening than they are along with the fake bounty posters." Jack belted out anger letting him forget that he was suppose to be making a deal with these two and instead acting out. It was rare that he would lose his cool but this Ryan prick certainly did manage to push a lot of his buttons.

Ryan was right however, this was his business and only he could make the decision of what to do. No matter what Ryan said he was merely an adviser for this. It's weird how much he'd started to like Ryan and trust his judgement. It was only natural in that case that phantom music began to play in his head when his companion had told him to listen to his heart. Listen to your heart when he's calling for you. Listen to your heart there's nothing else you can do. I don't know where you're going and I don't know why,but listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye. Suddenly the music cut off abruptly in his head as he shook it clear from him.

"Wait I have one of those? Kehaha. I thought I was known as heartless for a reason." laughing jovially he tried to make light of the moment before clenching his hands into fists he tried to seem deadly serious. "Alright Ryan here's the deal. Everything about this place is suspicious. Its a fuckng pirate island that the marines don't mess with. They have a few dozen vice admirals at their disposal and all of them are as strong as me and you I know from experience. Why wouldn't they just send one of them here to clear out the place? That plus everything i've heard so far spells someone involved here is a power player. I don't trust Gils as far as I can throw him at this point but its no harm to go along and investigate what he's said. On the off chance he's right we avoided doing something rash and teach a rookie manners. If he's lying then we come back and settle things. I don't like this either and I really owe you for helping me out on this. I hope we can stick together for awhile even after this is over." Turning his back he seemed ready to leave. "Alright McGilly. We'll take your men. You'll also be sending beli to my ship for the trip cost it took to get to here and that it'll take to find these rookies. Consider it a loan of good faith since if you're telling the truth i'll pay you back. I'm a nice guy like that. Ryan let's get moving, this place leaves a foul smell."

"What? What?!" Jack shouted suprised at first then outraged that Leander would dare order him around like that as well as this guy expected beli from him. Well fuck him and what he wanted, Leander could go and bugger off for all he cared. It hit him then that being a pirate Leander was probably rich in beli and with men placed there he could have a chance to steal it all if done carefully as well as his men could spy and if lucky enough sabotage or assasinate both of these meddlesome brats. He was regretting for a moment there ever setting up this situation but now things looked like they would be going well again. Calming down he merely grunted and nodded before leaving; not before casting a evil glare toward Ryan however.
