“Yes you can fry vegetables. I particularly like onions and peppers fried.” Replied Shina to Drea’s first question. Her tone was softer knowing he agreed with her proposition to take the mountain path. Drea then took a moment to help the old woman’s worry. Honestly, Shina didn’t even think they’d run into the bandits at all. Drea didn’t exactly look like he was carrying much in terms of money and Shina was in a penguin suit. Taking her own thieving experience into account, the girl is certain she’d pass up trying to hit this mark. People that looked crazy or poor usually were just what they looked, and in this suit Shina was probably looked upon as a bit crazy. “Fish are alive and thus I consider them animals. I will not bring death to any living being… But then again I guess plants are technically alive too though… Uhh, I’m not really sure. I’d have to mail the head mourner back home to find out I guess.” Said Shina with a shaky voice. She was deadset against the slaying of animals, and she was nigh certain fish were considered animals, but the second thought she had was really nagging at her. She had never considered plants as “Living” by her definition, but they technically were. At least Shina would have some thoughts to ponder on the trip. “I don’t mind walking with a brisker pace, but I’d rather not run if that’s okay with you.” Said the girl with a joking tone. “But a midnight stroll wouldn’t be too bad. It will get cold when we get near the mountain’s peak though, so I hope you’re prepared for that. And it’ll be worse after nightfall.” As the two walked Shina could see the slow onset of the evergreen forest. It started out as a scattered tree or two, seemingly out of place in this land of meadows. Eventually those few scattered trees became a small grove. Eventually that small grove became a forest. Before she even realized it the pair was already steadily walking up a gentle incline. They were at the base of the mountain path. Suddenly a high pitched squeal rang out over the trees. It sounded like a woman’s voice. Without waiting for confirmation from Drea, Shina took off on a sprint towards the noise. If someone was in trouble or hurt, Shina would gladly help them out. The penguin suited girl ran off from the path into the thicket towards the sobbing cries. Eventually she arrived at a small clearing where a woman was laying on the ground with her ankle stuck in a bear trap. She, herself, was wearing all animal fur for clothes and looked like she lived in this mountainous area for a while. She turned her head when she heard Shina’s footsteps. The woman’s eyes looked glossed, and she was, most likely, thinking herself delusional seeing a penguin suited woman. There was a lot of blood on the ground from the beartrap wounds on the woman’s ankle. Shina quickly bent over and started trying to remove the woman’s ankle from the trap. “Hold on, dear. I’ll get you out of this.” Edited by KileyBarker, Jan 9 2014, 09:11 AM.

This notion of what was and wasn't "alive" was currently quite pressing on his mind. After all, as she said, trees and grass and other plants were in fact 'alive', but they were edible? In fact, he ate eggs all the time; were they alive? He supposed that milk was okay, and honey, but how was he supposed to survive on those things alone!? Then again, she did say that he could eat any meat that was already dead. It seemed as though a life of vegetarianism was more trouble than it was worth! But like he said, he wasn't much of a picky eater, especially if what he was eating was fried; and whether it was alive or dead, he could probably make due for as long as their was some hot sauce or spice available. He wasn't even worried about the cold temperatures that night brought, or the dangers of the mountain itself. This pressing mental issue pushed aside as 'solved', he pressed forward; half following his own lead, and half minding the pace of Shina. It would make since that she wouldn't want to run seeing as though she was wearing a human waddle suit, and wouldn't exactly have much of wiggle room when it came to how she could and couldn't move. Or at least so he thought! As they made their way down the path, the sun sitting heavy in the western sky, a screech of a scream was heard. It immediatly caught his attention as it would anyone, but Shina took this scream as a call for help. Drea, after all, was accustom to screaming and yelling; either of someone spooked by a wayward shadow or of loved ones mourning the loss of a love one. It took a moment for Drea to realize that someone out here might be in trouble, and thus why Shina was taking to action. She could actually sprint in a penguin suit! Now that was talent. Drea's first thought was that this was perhaps, the yells of a victim of one of the afformentioned bandits, but then again, they weren't even in the mountain! But if it was bandits? If they did eventually run into physical danger, could Shina hold her own? He hadn't yet began to imagine whether or not Shina could fight, but it would make sense that she couldn't, seeing as though she was so willing to travel with another person; for sake of protection. In any case, Drea quickly followed after before he lost track of the girl, and quickly stumbled upon the scene. Another girl, just his luck, had been caught in what appeared to be a pair of iron jowls which were not snapped around her leg. Drea's first reaction was to cringe as he thought about what it would be like to be in her place. He quickly scanned the surroundings making sure there were no similar snares, "Hey uhh, Shina, do you need my help, or... I mean I'm not a doctor but..." He said, not wanting to get in the way of the delicate situation, but not wanting to seem disinterested or useless either. |

"I don't know anything about medicine, I just know we need to get her leg free and bandage it somehow." Said Shina in a panic'd tone. She put her flipper-covered hands between the bear trap and began peeling it open. The rusted old trap squealed and creaked as it's jaws were pried from the helpless woman's leg. Blood was gushing forth from the wound like a waterfall. "Drea we'll need some kind of cloth to wrap around her leg. Either dig one out or we'll have to cut one out of our clothes." Called out Shina to her travel mate. The woman's face was growing pale in color and her eyes were starting to lose focus. "Ma'am we're going to help you out of this, so please try to stay awake. We'll help you out." Said Shina attempting to keep the woman conscious and with them. The pale woman was shivering uncontrollably, but her eyes opened wide upon hearing Shina's voice. The two made eye contact for a brief moment and Shina could feel this woman's pain. She could see the fear in her eyes. The woman opened her mouth, as if to speak, but only pained whimpers could come forth. Her voice wasn't quite legible but she was clearly trying to inform Drea and Shina of something. "S-s-s-s-ttttay b-b-b-back." Uttered the woman as she finally managed to form coherent words with her mouth. Just as she said the word, an arrow zoomed directly by Shina's head and planted itself in the woman's chest. She died instantly. Shina stood very still. She realized immediately what had happened. This woman didn't accidentally step in this trap. This trap had to have been left here for this purpose. Someone had been hunting this woman. Reaching her hand up, Shina closed the deceased woman's eyes. She then quickly dove out of the clearing towards a thicker tree on the side where she could put the arrow's launch direction on the opposite side. She set about scanning the area trying to find the source of the arrow. "Drea take cover!" |

It was lucky for Drea that he wasn't at all squeamish, but it was Shina's voice that tipped him off as to the seriousness of the situation. He thought quickly as to what he could use to wrap around the womans leg to stop the bleeding and instantly realized the scarf he was wearing would probably do the trick; of course that would mean getting his scarf dirty, but it was a noble sacrifice he would have to make. That being said, neither of them were doctors, and the situation would call for one quickly. He scrapped his brain for anything that would be helpful as Shina and the woman held what would be her final moments before, from out of no where, the woman was shot in the chest with an arrow. Drea's head turned and eyes perked up to the direction of where the arrow most likely came from. Shina was startled as well, quickly jumping out of dodge and into somewhere more safe. She urged for Drea to do the same, but the boy was fearless. He began instead, walking in the direction that he thought the arrow had come from. He couldn't see anything immediatly so either the assailant had already fled, or was taking cover himself. Either way, no one had any reason to shoot arrows at him... right? Either way, his iron exterior would make it quite easy for him to deflect arrows. While it might seem as though he was abusing his cyborg exoskeleton with this fact; a naive boy with a lack of fear wouldn't stop to think that anything more dangerous would present itself. Suddenly he caught a glint in the distance and only a moments later, an arrow from that very same direction. The metal tip from the arrow shined off of the angle of the sun as it set slowly in the west, and from it, he was able to detect the direction of the arrow itself. It was aimed, this time, for him, and while he was able to duck quickly and avoid it, he was suddenly miffed that someone would actually try and shoot at him. Drea took off at a sprint towards the forested area from which the arrow was shot, as a blackened figure in the shadows sprang up and attempted to flee, "Come back here you asshole! Why'd you shoot at me!?" He said, running deeper and deeper into the thick forest, not even realizing that he might be leaving Shina behind. |

Drea took off running after the arrow shooting maniac without any hesitation. Shina couldn't even comprehend the kind of backbone this boy must have. Not only did he not bother taking cover, he even ducked an arrow immediately after. Drea seemed to be slightly quicker on his feet than Shina was, but that wasn't much of an issue. The real issue was the arrows flying. Shina wasn't exactly the greatest at dodgeball, and if you can't dodge a ball then you most certainly can't dodge an arrow. Wanting to chase after Drea, Shina kept her head down and traveled from tree to tree, keeping herself from exposing any vulnerable points that could be shot at. It was tiresome and a lot of extra work, and worst of all was that she was beginning to fall behind Drea as he ran. He was faster than her to start with, and adding her more cautious movements, the gap between the two was beginning to widen. Not to mention it was rather hard to maneuver inside a penguin suit. Finally, taking note of the horrible distance growing between them, Shina decided to screw safety. If her and Drea were to get separated with some kind of mad archer on the loose, things could get bad. She stopped using the trees as cover while moving and opted just to run like a maniac at her top speed. An arrow grazed by her, nearly striking the girl as she dashed. Despite this dangerous situation and the flying death arrows that seemed to appear from nowhere, Shina wasn't afraid. She was overtaken by a strange sensation. It was a mix of anger, sadness, and exhaustion. And in this moment, this fleeting glimpse of time, Shina finally understood that this is what it meant to feel alive. |

In spite of his pursuit, it turned out that the person that had shot arrows at him was most likely faster than him, as he got away rather quickly. Persistent, Drea attempted to follow after him for quite a ways, but ultimatly failed. Not only was the person faster, if only by a margine, but he apparently knew these woods better and could navigate much smoother. As the forest became thicker and more dense, the obstacles became more troublesomes for Drea, while the person he ran after was able to slip through them with relative ease. Even a boy without fear would have to realize when he had met his match. But for some reason, he felt that this wasn't the last time he would run into such an encounter. He stopped as soon as he realized that in his haste, he had ran away form Shina. Turning, he would begin marching the opposite way that he came, in an attempt to meet back up with her. After all, he was learning quickly that Shina was something of a soft hearted individual. Behind her preistess status and innate respect for the dead, she also had a respect for the living which was slightly uncommon by Drea's views. Not only was she quick to try and help a stranger but even obstained from killing living things to eat them. He wasnt quite sure how she would handle having watched someone die infront of her. Would she want revenge for this stranger? An eye for an eye? Of course, that would mean killing the killer... would she be willing to do that? Drea had his own personal odds about the situation as well. Should he feel worse than he did about having just watched someone die? He wasn't necessarily a psychopath in that he didn't have empathy; but was on the otherhand so desensitized that the death of a stranger, even right infront of him, wasn't all that heart struck. Perhaps it was good having Shina around, if only to help to determine exactly how he should react to certain things. Speaking of Shina, Shina was currently running full speed at him. Perhaps this was her attempt to catch up with him? But the girl in the penguin suit most likely had her vision impaired to some extent, as even when he came into view she kept running. Hopefully she would look up before she ran smack dab into Drea... which would happen any second now... |

Shina's running gait wasn't exactly steady at this point. The penguin suit was starting to trip her up and she had began to lose her balance momentarily. The jerking motion from her strange running motion happened to be just enough to force the iron penguin beak to collapse over her face, sealing itself shut. Normally this wouldn't be a serious issue since Shina could simply lift the beak open again, however, when one is running like a maniac and worried that a wild arrow could possibly end their life at any moment they tend to panic. Shina, in an act of pure reactionary goodness, dove straight forward as if she were in the matrix. Unfortunately for her, Drea just happened to be coming in the exact opposite direction as her at this time. A collision, was inevitable. Shina felt the impact immediately and attempted to curl herself into a ball mid crash. It felt like she had just smashed into something metallic. The girl's mind was going crazy. There was nothing metal in the woods! Maybe she just hit a tree and her mind was playing tricks on her? After finally gathering her bearings, Shina stood back up quickly. She reached her hands up and opened the beak, allowing the sunlight to illuminate her blue eyes again. Her pupils dilated and everything was blurry for a moment. She was dizzy from the trauma of the collision and the sudden influx of light wasn't helping her condition. "What on Earth did I just hit?" Asked the girl in a shaky voice as she began counting the little stars spinning around her head. There were seven of them. Edited by KileyBarker, Jan 12 2014, 03:11 PM.

The Iron helmet like beak would be more than enough of a buffer for Drea to feel the force of the girls full on collusion into him. Unable to simply move out of the way in time (or expecting her to stop running at some point), the two would crash into one another, sending him toppling backwards. Of course, his metal exterior would more or less save him the trouble of taking any damage but the force was still enough to send him for a loop. If he was thrown to the ground, then the girl must have really felt it! For once, he was actually worried unprompted. Getting back to his feet, he would watch the girl slowly recover from the concussive force she had just taken. She then stood back up quickly, shaking it off before he had a chance to help her up himself. The girl was obviously shaken but not stirred, and even though it took a bit of time for her to get her land legs back, it seemed as though she would be alright. Once again, and so quickly, Drea found himself in another situation where he desperately wanted to help, but was momentarily stunned by his lack of knowledge to do so! He wasn't a doctor, or anything useful like that. No doubt, he realized, that if something serious happened that didn't involve his vary narrow specialization, he would need others who were capable of handling it! This was, after all, what he was here for; to find a crew capable of braving the seas. He realized how limited he was, and while it was sombering, it was also further motivation! But then she asked exactly -what- she had run into. He had forgotten, that on his home island, almost everyone that knew him knew that he was a cyborg, and thus, just as much metal as he was man. Now that he was out to see, this wasn't as much common knowledge. Just another thing that he took for granted, "Yikes! I, uhh, i'm kind of a chrome-dome! Made out of metal, haha. Long story short, I got sick and this is how the marines fixed me." He said with a coy smile before his face slowly became more serious, looking in the direction they were both facing, "That bastard got away... I wonder what they hell he was after! Show's up, kills someone then tries to shoot me? Who even does that; what'n asshole..." He said, obviously as disgruntled as he was curious. "Think it was those bandits?" He inquired. |

"Chrome-Dome? ... Made of metal... Whuh?" Shina's current state of exasperation caused Drea's explanation to only confound her further. She understood that it was, in fact, Drea himself that she had ran into, but there were more details about Drea that Shina simply couldn't follow. People couldn't be made out of metal... Could they? A migraine began to pulsate from behind the penguin-suited-girl's right temple. This situation was frustrating, a villainous archer was on the loose, and now she was discovering that her travelling companion was indeed a nutcase claiming himself to be a metal man of sorts. Shina collapsed to her side, finding a thick-trunked-tree for support. A look of rising concern graced her face. "I don't know who it was or what they were after, all I know is I now have a personal vendetta against them." Said Shina as her flaky voice finally began to find its nerve again. A low tone could be heard in the girl's voice now. It was an emotion Shina didn't express often. She was angry. "I promised her that everything would be okay. I gave her my word. I may as well been born a prevaricator." Shina began stomping off in the direction the archer had escaped off into. How strange a sight it was, Shina being the one to march off first this time. She didn't even turn back her head towards Drea before uttering the following in a loud voice. "You don't have to come if you don't want to, Drea. But as for me? I'm going to go give a lesson in pain." Shina had no intent on killing the archer. People could live without their arms... Right? Edited by KileyBarker, Jan 13 2014, 08:13 AM.

Was it not common knowledge that people could be made of metal? He figured that since everyone knew on his island that it wasn't anything special, but perhaps being a cyborg was something strange and new to this girl, just as finding a girl in a penguin suit was to him. Not only this, but running head long into him made her alittle loopy, as she had to lean up against something to stand up properly. Drea wanted to ask if she was okay, but she seemed to press on otherwise, talking about how she did in fact, want to get revenge. Now there was one thing that flashed into Drea's mind once she said this. The thing was, to make it to the city, it was more or less a straight shot through the mountains. Even if it was a day long trip, they would most likely have to travel through the night. This would end up being a detour that would cost them time; something he would want to remind her, but as mentioned prior, Drea wasn't exactly worried about time, he was just loving the adventure. He could have easily gone around the mountain and most likely had enjoyed the process of getting there as much as he was lookin forward to the destination itself. Another thing, however, was that they were in mutually disadvantageous territory. They had run quite a ways of the path that they were following, and Drea would have found himself wondering aimlessly through this forest looking for direction, something that would have becom much more difficult when the sun set and darkness settled in. He would have little choice but to continue with Shina, although he was happy to do so. "Well, I guess your mind is made..! I figured we started this little march together, might as well finish it. Besides, i'm curious to see what you want to do to this guy! I didn't take you for much of a fighter, hehe. I'm in no rush so... lead the way... whatever way we should go... I wonder where we are..?" He said, becoming slowly more perplexed as he looked around trying to consider what it was he should do next. Edited by TGIFlash, Jan 13 2014, 09:36 AM.

"I want to teach this fellow a lesson he'll never forget." Replied Shina absent mindedly as she tried to gather exactly where they were in the woods. Her navigator skills could finally prove useful for once! Shina quickly judged by the sun's position, which was moving closer and closer to the horizon, that they were heading across the mountain perpendicular to their original route. They weren't going up or down the mountain anymore and the ground stayed relatively level making it easier walking. "As for our direction, we're heading North right now. The original trail went further up the mountain but right now we're moving across the side." Said Shina trying to break the silence of the walk. Her mind continued to fume with rage. The tint of anger had shaded her words and her tone was still more harsh than usual. It was at this moment that Shina realized how sour she was acting. That woman was dead, but nobody can bring back the dead. It was appropriate to be angry with the perpetrator of this crime, but to give one's traveling buddy the cold shoulder seemed almost inhuman. Shina immediately felt bad for treating Drea that way and decided to change her tone. "Oh and, uhh, I'm not that great of a fighter... My parents tried to teach me but told me I had no talent for it." Said the girl in a much lighter tone while rubbing the back of her head. "I am rather strong though, for a girl of my age. So don't go messing with me." The last line came out with a rather joking tone, which was intended. It wasn't a lie, but lightening the mood almost seemed necessary. The girl never intended to alienate anyone, even if they were crazy "Metal" men. That thought nearly brought Shina to a smile. Who knows, maybe Drea was honestly made of metal, as unlikely as that seemed. Perhaps the real ignorant fool here was Shina instead... |

The girls seemed to know her stuff, or at least, could fake it well. Either way, he was willing to follow along with this scheme for now. He could understand how the need to get some sort of revenge for a lost promise could motivate someone to action; even if it seemed a little irrational. It was also something to note that it was hard to take a girl seriously who was in a penguin suit, but it would be more than fun to watch her beat up on someone. She wasn't much of a fighter after all, or at least as she put it, and to be honest, he wasn't exactly the most proficient fighter himself; at least from the overbearing stories and rumors he had heard from men with monsterous strength capable of leveling mountains. That being said, his fearless attitude coupled with his metal exterior made him more or less willing to take on any challenge, "Uhh sure, North! Haha, we'll track this guy down. Hopefully he is a bandit! I'd love to meet one while we are here. Besides, you might need my help looking like a penguin, hehe." It may have seemed alittle odd to the girl that he said that he was metal. It would seem even weirder to her that he didn't necessarily have to 'eat' either. This was part of the reason that he wasn't necessarily bothered by her vegetarian preferences. Even though it was perplexing to not kill and eat a living things, all that was necessary for Drea, was Beer. Usually Beer, and alcohol in general was looked down upon, but alcohol itself was broken down into water and simple surgers, and all the by products were simply filtered out. As long as he didn't use it, he could go days on days without actually eating or drinking. This all happened when he was much younger, so now he was just used to heavily drinking and enjoying the benefits of prolonging his own life; even if he had to explain to a few wayward eyes that he wasn't in fact a young alcoholic. "I would love to, uhh, lead the way but seems like you've got the lay of the land figured out. The lady said the bandits were in the mountains, but we are still at the beginning! So uhh, lead the way." He said, trying not to seem confused or 'stupid', but he didn't exactly know how to proceed either. Hopefully the girl did. He was the type who could handle simple instructions. He was smart, but in a way that was more unconscious and hands on. But, if getting to his goal meant getting alittle sound tracked, he was more than happy to tag along. |

As the duo traveled the eventually came upon a most peculiar structure to find in the wilderness of the mountains: a large black-metal fence. It was up to Shina's head in height and the top was barbed with long loops of wire. Shina stared at the fence for, what seemed like, an incredibly long moment. What? Why was this here? This shouldn't have been here. Shina was truly confused. Was this the working of the mountain bandits, or just that lone archer they had seen earlier? Or perhaps this fence was constructed by another group entirely. Shina wasn't sure, but she did know one thing. One does not keep a fence such as this to keep others out. The barbs were facing inwards. This fence was designed to keep people in. "I don't think we should climb over this, Drea. Let's walk around it. I'm getting a really bad feeling about this fence." Said Shina before pausing a long moment. She couldn't explain it, but a sickening feeling of dread overtook her every time she laid eyes upon the black fence. It was truly giving her the hebe-jeebies. Shina watched awestruck as the fence seemed to travel endlessly into the woods. She couldn't see the end of it. Perhaps there was no other option? Perhaps they'd have to just jump it. "Actually, seeing how the sun is waning and night is approaching, I don't think we have time to walk around it." Said the girl, expressing her changed mind. Shina walked up to the fence and took a firm hold of the black metal... And then she stopped moving. Everything around her seemed to grow deathly quiet as the girl simply slinked to the ground as if she had fallen dead on the spot. The fence was electric. Shina's eyes fogged over and her vision began to blur. She was losing consciousness. For now she could only hope that Drea would realize the fence's sinister nature before he too fell for the same trap that the girl did. Post Summary TLDR version

As the two came to what seemed to be a fence in the middle of the wilderness, the penguin suited girl was as confused now as she was when he told her that he was made of metal! Her first instinct was that, perhaps they should go around thef fence. After all, it made sense that a fence was meant to keep something 'out' or at least somethings 'in'. But that would have been too easy, and while her first hunch might have been the most safe, she reasoned her way out of it and decided against herself to try and get up and over the fence. However, there was more to it. The second the girl attempted to continue her trailblazing through the fence, the fence seemed to... fight back? Only moments after the girl came in contact to the fence, her body convulsed and fell and she fell to the ground. In some ways, it was lucky that she had touched the fence before him, as if he was leading the way, he would have very quickly done the exact same thing. But after having spent his childhood playing in the bobby trapped tombs of old nobles, he knew what someone being electricuted looked like. He took a deep breathe as he didn't want to panic. From his wrist a blade would seem to slide out; almost as if it were longer than his form arm itself. Taking aim at a near by woodlen tree, he would begin chopping wildly at it. One chip at a time with the blade until, like a lumber jack, it lost it's stability. Turning to the backside of the tree, he delivered a finishing kick, allowing the tree to topple over and onto the fence. The weight of the falling tree would crash over the fence cutting off the circulation of electricity from one end. After all, electricity wouldn't continue if it was cut off... right? And the trunk now laying over the fence would allow them a bridge to cross. But was the girl okay? If she couldn't keep consciousness, he would have to scoop her up and return to the village; hopefully before the sun fell. |

Tufts of frizzled hair twirled out of Shina's suit in random spots. An occasional blip of electrical energy could be seen jumping from strand to strand. Her expression was one of total defeat and shame. Her mouth was wide open, her tongue lolled to one side, and her eyes were spinning in their sockets. Luckily this shameless display only lasted a brief moment. A crackling and crashing sound snapped the girl back into reality as she looked over just in time to watch Drea fell a tree on the fence. Wrenching her shaking body forward, Shina moved into a sitting position. She crossed her legs and rocked her body forwards and backwards for a brief moment as she tried to get the numbness out of her body. The girl had been lucky. If she had the constitution of a normal human that shock could have done some serious damage. It still probably did anyways. Shina's eyes were still hazed over and she was having a hard time forming words. Whether it was shock from the shock, or the aftereffects from the actual shock itself wasn't quite clear. It was quite a shocking situation, to say the least. Perhaps the static look on the girls face would recede and be replaced with a more electric persona had she known just how silly she looked. To any onlooker it looked as if the girl could stick her arms up in random directions and start picking up DenDenRadio Stations at random. Shina was not ecstatic about this whole situation either. It seemed today was just not her day. Shina opened her mouth to speak but sputtered out a cough instead. A thick puff of smoke shot forth from her lips. Shina was already operating on a short fuse and the last five minutes of her day had just about short circuited her. It was as if the universe itself did not want her to chase the archer... Or maybe it was just the archer himself who didn't want that. Once again a fire lit itself in the girls eyes and she climbed over the fence in a quick motion using the opening that Drea had created with his tree shenanigans. Immediately upon landing on the far side, a sense of dread overtook the girl. She could almost feel how bad of an idea this was. Her internal compass, even when on the fritz thanks to electric storms, was telling her to go in any direction other than forward. The wind began to die down with every step Shina took forward. The world seemed to grow quiet around her. She could hear everything clearly. The treetops above began to shake with a foul wind. The setting sun was beginning to set the sky ablaze and a murder of crows circled overhead. It was in this moment, that short moment of terrible anticipation, that Shina finally took notice of the numerous dead bodies hanging from the trees. They ranged from skeletons to fresh corpses, but every single one shared a similar cause of death: A single arrow planted in their chest. Suddenly the sounds all stopped. The crows cawing grew quiet and the wind died. A hushed whisper, seemingly coming from nowhere swept across the forest floor. "Why have you come here? It came from nowhere, but it sounded as if it had been whispered into her own ears. Shivers began to travel across the woman's body as she turned to Drea. "D-Drea... I think it's time to leave. Said Shina softly as she began to backpedal out of the clearing. A dark shadow flashed in the distance and its voice rang out again, but this time it resounded with a hissing anger. "I asked, why have you entered my sanctuary?" |
