"No no no nooooooo! Why am I back here?!" Natalie had no real sailing experience. Until the Grand Line she had gotten by okay, but here in this crazy weather zone she was completely at a loss. Natalie hadn't even sailed the Red Line herself; she had hitch-hiked up on that deathtrap called the St. Jesus... So, as it was, every time Natalie tried to sail away from Little Garden and go someplace more inhabited by humans, she somehow ended back up there. "This is complete crap, some mermaid makes out with me and I'm the one who gets fired?" It was all a travesty, really. Natalie had gotten upset with some customer and flipped his table like some ornery child. Well, if it was just the one outburst it might have been tolerated, except Natalie had screwed up a number of times before that. Dropping orders of food whenever she saw Aspen, suddenly punching holes in nearby walls whenever she saw Aspen, etc. Really it was all Aspen's fault that the fiery-haired teen was so nervous all the time. "Well, now what? I'm stuck near this dinosaur island and I'm running out of stuff to eat." She was really quite flustered. It had been nearly three days out here on the sea, and all Natalie had to show for it was her sun-stained hair and sea-smelling clothes. Like, seriously, is a working shower with hot water so much to ask for on a simple ship? "At this rate I might just have to fight some smilodons or something." Yeah, fighting a bunch of pre-historic monsters didn't sound very enticing. *sigh* Where did it all go wrong? St. Jesus...? Perhaps even before that, on Bausyer. Or was it in fact just the Aspen thing that threw Natalie off her game? Thinking about Aspen again caused the teen to blush slightly, but she shook her head of such things. It wasn't like she had a crush on the busty mermaid or anything, but the ordeal had left it's mark. A first kiss is a first kiss, after all. "Aaaugh, fine! Bring it on dinosaurs, I need to relieve some stress anyway!" Finally conceding to the world's plan Natalie steered her boat right towards the terrifying island and prepared to duke it out with some razor-toothed creatures. |

"Ehh...?" The thought and indeed the first thing Tessa said upon seeing the island she slowly approached. The boat she had borrowed hadn't fared well in its short journey, and Tessa wasn't in much better shape. The warm climate had forced her to change from her usual khaki pants to some rather short shorts. No other changes seemed necessary yet, but the increasingly muggy atmosphere didn't bode well. The jungle island up ahead sent off warning signs immediately upon entering her view. The stories of a "Little" Garden with ancient, dangerous creatures that she had heard of as a child were all rushing back. Out of the islands she'd heard of, this one was particularly distasteful. Regardless, she drifted uncontrollably toward the island despite how much she rowed the dismal craft. So, she did the only thing left to do, and paddled furiously toward the island, sending up a grand wake and building up a decent sweat. Minutes, nay, moments later she arrived at the shore. She quickly dismounted the pitiful craft and towed it onto the shore with one arm, inspecting it carefully as she did so. She did have her tools, and the island did seem ripe with colossal trees, so she wasn't hurting for supplies to repair it. Hell, she could probably build a half decent boat given enough time. As she puttered around the boat, she finally took stock of her surroundings. Nothing of note stretched down the right side of the coast, except a few palms here and there. Towards the island wasn't much better, just the slope of the beach until it reached the gigantic tree line. When she directed her gaze to the left, the only thing of note was a similar boat to hers, with a young girl stan- "Ehh...?" Tessa unconsciously repeated herself. She stood there, perplexed, for a moment before asking out loud, "How did I-? Where did you...?" she wasn't entirely certain how she missed the other boat and the girl. Well, at least she wasn't alone, and by the looks of it, the fiery little girl was quite fit and stylish. Things were looking up, so Tessa decided to greet the girl. "Well, all things considered, pleasure to meet you!" Tessa offered the girl her strong right hand. Edited by Hugo, Dec 16 2013, 02:26 AM.

Natalie was making for the island in pretty much a straight line, and she wasn't really considering the fact that she had to stop the boat somehow. So, naturally, as she neared the shore it had dawned on her that was probably going to wreck this thing. Frantically spinning the wheel was all Natalie could do to try and keep herself from ruining her boat, but it was too late. The hull closed in on the shoreline and then rammed into with a loud thud. And lots of cracking wood. Really the whole thing was quite embarrassing, but luckily nobody was around to see that horrible blunder. Natalie stepped forward with a heavy sigh befitting Cosmo before looking to her right. What she saw then was only slightly less unlikely than seeing a crewmate; seeing another person. "How the hell?.." It was surprising enough to see another person, but probably more amazing that Natalie hadn't rammed into the stylish woman's boat with her own. The teen brought one hand to her brow in remorse and looked down towards the other human being. The woman had been friendly enough to greet Natalie, but she had also seemed confused as to another person's existence. Well, dwelling on it too long wasn't going to get anyone anywhere, and certainly not off Little Garden. So, at least for now Natalie would try and make nice with the sole life-form she had the courtesy to know. "Um, hi there. It's nice to meet you too.." Natalie made her way to the front of her ship and jumped down onto land. Before returning Tessa's handshake however, Natalie made a point to check the point where the boat had rammed into dino-land. The hull seemed too messed up, but it didn't seem to be flooding too bad. Still, if it were taken out to see it would likely fill up, so Natalie leaned down wrapped both arms around the sea-stained wood. With a heave and light grunt she lifted the front of the boat and dragged it backwards onto land, though it was pretty heavy and thus slow going. Still, Natalie was unbelievably strong for her size, so while she didn't exactly break a sweat, it definitely would've been impossible for a mook. After she got it 3/4 out of the water she felt sure that it wouldn't float away, mostly because the other 1/4th was suspended above the waves. Ah, that ought to do it." Finally done with that she walked over to Tessa and firmly grasped the woman's hand, using her other to sweep her hair back from her face. "Didn't mean to leave you hanging, but I didn't want my boat to sink.." After the shake she awkwardly brought her hand back and fidgeted, not really sure what to do now. "So uh, what brings you here? |

Tessa was indeed left hanging as she observed the young lass hesitatingly greet her before jumping out of her own, larger boat. Utterly surprised, Tessa watched as the P.Y.T. dragged the boat onto the shore. Where did the strength come from? She was small, yet seemed stronger than Tessa, which made her jealous, or impressed? She couldn't decide, but her pondering was cut short as the girl finally shook her hand. "What brings me here?..." Tessa turned her eyes inland. "Well, I certainly didn't bring myself here," she smiled broadly. "I kind of drifted here, I've no idea how to navigate, I only fix these old tubs once in a blue moon." She kicked her boat with an negligent flick of her leg. The girl probably wouldn't be satisfied with just that, "I guess I ended up here because I was running from the Marines? I kind of assaulted a group of Marines awhile back, and dismantled their ship." Tessa's expression grew dark, "They asked for it though! Bastards tried to short-change me on the repairs... Anyway, they were chasing me, so I borrowed this rickety tub and ended up here." Tessa thought the story was rather nice, and was smiling when she finally remembered to introduce herself, "My name is Tessa, by the way, Tessa Gra-" Her introduction was brought to a sudden end as a distant, yet loud bellow sounded from deep within the island. Her lip curled in distaste as she looked in the rough direction of the roar, "I had a feeling this was that island," she turned back to the girl, "Graham, Tessa Graham." She turned back to the forest as she said it, glaring; daring the beast to interrupt her again. Tessa turned back to her boat, pulling her hammer from the bottom of the boat. "This is Graham as well," she smiled sweetly, "He say's 'Hi' as well." |

"Huh. Hi Graham.." Hammer saying hello, not entirely normal. Maybe Tessa was a crazy person who just named everything and talked to inanimate objects. At this point just about anything was fine though, since being alone wasn't something Natalie cared to do at this point. For now she would travel about with this Tessa woman and explore this awful dinosaur-era island. But first she had to take care of something. "Y'know, it's pretty hot. I need to go change real quick. Excuse me.." Natalie knew it was sort of rude to just walk away after such a chance meeting, but she had been dressed in a hoodie and jeans because the sea had been so cold recently. That winter clothing stuff wasn't going to cut it on this summertime place, so it was only natural that a change of cloths was in order. She clambered up the side of her ship and went into the cabin, though it took her a bit to find her suitcase which can been displaced during the disembarking. "Ah, sports jersey and gym shorts? No, I'm in new company.. Skirt and camisole? No no, too embarrassing around other people." After what was obviously way too much deliberation Natalie settled on a cute yellow sundress with pink and orange flowers on it. It was very 'summer-y'. And from the pocket of her pants she retrieved her badass sunglasses and wore them above her forehead, now finally ready for warm tropical weather. "Alright, that ought to do it." With a strange suddenness there was a great crashing noise and a terrifying roar! Natalie ran out to the deck of her boat to see a startling sight. Trees were falling over and there was a rumbling noise as a huge and terrifying creature that made t-rexes look like bitches (even though they didn't exist at the same time) neared the shoreline. It was heading straight for the boats. "What the?! Why is it coming here?!" Natalie jumped off the side of her ship and ran to Tessa, worriedly moving her hands in strange gestures that didn't really mean anything. The great beast was stomping towards them with a hungry look in it's eye, not 100 meters from the shoreline now. "Crap, do we fight it or what? We can't let it wreck my boat though..so do we run?!" Normally Natalie wouldn't be so verbal with a new face, but she figured life-threatening situations were good enough to be excitable and talkative. Plus the dinosaur reminded Natalie of Gumba, and that whole being-eaten-alive debacle. She hadn't entirely coped with that yet. Anyway, it was obvious she was leaving the choice up to Tessa. When the girl hesitantly greeted Graham, Tessa knew she got off on the wrong foot. 'Should have introduced him later, now I just seem odd. Oh well.' While Tessa brooded over her social stumble the girl retired to the interior of her ship to change clothes, which was entirely understandable due to the muggy climate. Tessa was rather miffed that the girl had yet to introduce herself, and kicked at the sands on the beach while she waited. In the meantime, Tessa went back to her boat and grabbed her two bags, inspecting them lazily. Her attention turned back to the hammer in her hands. She'd been using the hammer since she'd been young, thus it was getting fairly worn. Not to mention, she'd outgrown its weight a long time ago, and thus could probably comfortably swing a hammer twice or three times its size. Not to mention, in the Grand Line, her iron and wood hammer would leave hardly a scratch on anything worth its weight. Tessa realized that she probably took longer to choose clothes, but the threat of the island, and the hot and humid weather made her impatient, "You almost done in th-?" *Crash!* "Raaawr!" Interrupted, again! Tessa turned quickly to reprimand the culprit with the face of her hammer, but was stopped short with the sight of the massive Theropod smashing the trees aside. "You're joking, right?" Unfortunately for Tessa, it wasn't joking, and it made the earth tremble as it charged toward the two crafts. The exclamation from behind told her that the girl had finished changing. Despite her desire to see what the girl changed into, the dinosaur perilously plunging towards them demanded Tessa's full attention. She didn't have to worry, though, as the girl came forward looking like a cute little startled animal, panicking and gesticulating indistinctly in her yellow sundress. Her attention torn between two equally grabbing, but vastly different, sights, Tessa caught on to the last word the girl said. "Run!" Tessa definitely ran, but ran in the direction many people would deem as, "Where the hell are you running!?" That said, she ran directly toward the colossal creature, her hammer raised and a battle cry rising from her throat. The theropod seemed confused, and clumsily attempted to come to a halt as Tessa charged. Tessa kept running, and charged underneath the jagged jaws and cruel claws, and as she passed the fantastic feet, she slowed down long enough to deliver a huge blow to one of the creatures toes. It released an ear-shattering roar of pain as she turned to keep running past, causing her to stumble forward with her hands and hammer held over her ears as the earth trembled. Furiously, but still rather slowly, it attempted to turn around towards Tessa, who made her best effort to keep running towards the forest. Hopefully the girl could manage to escape while Tessa distracted the creature, and hopefully Tessa wouldn't get eaten. "C'mon! You stupid, ugly overgrown lizard!" "Okay, sure, running.." But, where to? Natalie didn't want to get horribly separated from Tessa so fleeing along the coastline was sort of a bad idea. And then running right past the dino-dickhead was also a pretty bad idea. And then running in an odd mixture of the previous two plans.. well frankly that didn't seem any better. Tessa's decision to run under the thing and hit it had been a pretty bold one, so it left Natalie even more confused. "So then, do I just fight that guy anyway?" Natalie had never seen a dinosaur before so she had nothing to compare it to, but this thing was sort of gigantic. She was noticeably torn on what to do in this situation, but after a few moments of panic she settled on a plan. With the spinosaurus chasing Tessa in a fit of rage (or at least more rage than before) it was positively distracted. "I mean, I need to get away too, but I can't let that odd hammer lady hog all the heroics; I should help her somehow!" Natalie eyed her boat for a moment before shaking her head in disapproval. "Not quite." She spied around the beach for a few seconds and looked at the surprising number of large rocks around, but that wasn't quite right either. Not the right sort of heft. Finally she turned to face another part of the beach. "Oh, you're perfect!" Natalie ran over to Tessa's rowboat and began lifting at the side, slowly bringing it off the ground. After about five seconds it was above her head and hefted like some sort of two-handed javelin, and so with her own warcry she charged towards the treeline and the creature that was intent on eating Natalie's new friend. Or was Tessa an acquaintance? Eh, doesn't much matter. The fiery-haired teen let out a shrill whistle to get the monster's attention, but it didn't really work. "Guess it's the hard way then." "Aaaaand..hup!" With a hopskipjump Natalie sent the boat sailing over her head and right towards the dinosaur, but at before it could hit him he turned and brought his sword-sized teeth to bare. With one swift chomp he bit down and snapped the boat between his jaws, effectively turning it into small bits of driftwood. Natalie was already taking a cue from Tessa however, and she ran right under his feet while he was busy spitting out splinters of wood. She had only barely cleared his threatened space when he turned and chased her now, but Natalie was almost in the treeline. From there she zigged and zagged and ran like hell, doing her best to spot Tessa in the jungle. Now it was Natalie who was hoping she wouldn't get eaten! ooc

The muggy atmosphere was causing Tessa to build up a sweat as she ran. Hopefully the blow she delivered to the theropod's toe would hinder it, but it was unlikely. It was more likely that it would be slowed by the towering growth, and perhaps she could even hide. She expected the thundering steps to follow her, but was greeted instead by the crunch of wood being crushed. Tessa turned, hoping the noise wasn't what she thought it was, and was greeted by the sight that she didn't want to see. Her little rowboat was falling and being chewed to pieces by the colossal beast. "Oh, come on!" Tessa was quite furious, and she took a few steps back toward the beast before realizing that it had turned it's attention to the girl as she ran beneath the falling wood and tree-trunk legs. Since the girl was booking it toward Tessa, she turned back and ran into the forest. A few moments of running and she turned back, only to notice that the girl was nowhere in sight. There was one thing that was in sight, though. *Crash!* "Raaawr!" The monster was knocking down trees, and seemed to be searching for either of the two. Either way, he was demolishing a path towards Tessa's direction, and it was only a matter of time. She would have to find the girl later, and compliment her on her clothes. For now, she needed to get away from the spinosaurus. Tessa kept running, passing up huge plants and other foliage. Every so often she caught a glance of other ancient creatures, but her path had yet to lead her to another monster. Eventually (A few minutes later) she came to a small clearing, where she promptly caught her breath. She could distantly hear crashing and roaring, but it seemed to be heading in another direction. "Success!" Tessa celebrated with a fist pump and a jump in the air. This seemed to startle the other occupant in the clearing, who promptly growled threateningly at Tessa. She turned, and was greeted by the sight of a long-toothed, large feline creature. Normally she didn't have a problem with cats, but this one was 4 meters long, and it's foot-long fangs didn't help. Tessa and the cat circled each other, Tessa with her hammer in hand, the cat baring its fangs. "Who's a good kitty?" |

Being that Natalie was fairly fast she was able to break line of sight with the sail-spined dino dude, but she could still hear it quite clearly. The treeline had effectively slowed the huge thing down, but it didn't stop him in his pursuit. Instead of following Natalie it had turned to the slower runner and chased Tessa instead, though it didn't seem too sure about her location either. For now Natalie would just keep running further into the jungle. After a couple minutes she stopped and held one hand to her ear, but she couldn't hear the dinosaur anymore. "Well, seems safe enough for now. Too bad I'm alone again though." She made a point to turn and face what she thought would be Tessa's direction and stared into the distance, though the "distance" wasn't all that far since the trees were rather dense. "Well, what now?" On one hand she could try to find Tessa but possibly run into the thing they'd been running from, but if she went in the opposite direction she would just get lost and be alone. Both ideas sort of sucked, but the one with the pink-haired hammer lady seemed to have more risk for reward. "Tessa GramGram it is then." Natalie readjusted the totally badass sunglasses on her head, but then gave a slight shrug and instead just put them on. It was gonna be one of those days. With a resolute look she strode off towards where Tessa should have gone, but things never worked out that easily, did they? All around her Natalie could hear squawks of odd birds and snarls from angry animals. There was something that sounded like a tiger at some point, though it was way far off. Natalie couldn't help but feel like everything here would want to kill her, and it probably wasn't entirely wrong. At one point there was a loud hissing sound, and Natalie froze in place and scanned the area around her. Rather than a vine there was a really long snake in front of her, all blending in and territorial with it's fangs bared. Rather than run away like a bitch Natalie stood her ground and stared the python down, and after a few seconds of this she leaned in and hit it with a mighty punch, probably knocking it out. "Nobody has time for things like that!" Hopefully she could find Tessa soon and in one piece. |

The tiger lunged, and Tessa swung her hammer. Graham met the head of the cat before its fangs could reach Tessa, knocking it to the ground. Tessa stood alert with her hammer prepared to strike again, but the cat didn't get up. She kneeled down to check the cat, placing her hand in front of its muzzle. It appeared to be breathing still, thankfully? "At least I didn't have to hurt you anymore," Tessa sighed. To prevent any further conflict from happening in the clearing, Tessa headed in the direction she had previously been going. At least, she hoped she was heading in the same direction. The shrill cries and calls from animals seemed a bit more subdued now, and the crashes and roars from the colossus seemed to be gone entirely for the time being. If only Tessa could meet up with the girl again, then everything would be better, or so she believed. Having another person to deal with the dinosaurs and other ancient creatures would be much preferable to her current position. It was unfortunate that she never got the fiery little girl's name. Tessa thought about calling out for her, but she'd likely only draw more creatures towards herself. Tessa looked up into the topiary, it should've been before noon still, but the thick foliage blocked the sun from view. Tessa considered going back to the clearing, but it was likely the cat had woken up. Somewhat wearily, she kept walking. The grime and sweat from running through the oppressively warm and thick jungle was almost as bad as being alone. A few minutes later, she spotted light, and the sparkle of water ahead. Renewed, she ran forward to the edge of the trees. She stopped, and attempted to survey the area. A large pool, no, a lake? Stretched before her, at the far end some huge dinosaurs were drinking, but they didn't seem to be the carnivorous sort. Nothing else of note jumped out at her, so she cautiously stepped out past the trees. |

"I don't exactly have time to get lost in a forest either.." Natalie had been walking for a solid ten minutes now and found no sign of Tessa, just forest and birds and nothing. Mostly lots of nothing. "At least it's not like being eaten by a Sea King." Natalie grimaced at this thought, or rather memory. The whole thing was still pretty fresh, and every now and then she thought she could still smell that medicine the creature had puked her up with. This was obviously an illusion of the mind, but it showed how traumatic the ordeal had been. "Yeah, fighting dinosaurs is a million times better." Natalie's idle thoughts passed the time well enough, but it was becoming harder and harder to follow a definite path in the jungle. The deeper the girl went the more condensed the trees seemed to become, as if they were warding intruders from some hidden place. "It will be pure luck at this point that gets me to Tessa.." Finally Natalie came upon a clearing, and it wasn't until there were shafts of sunlight that she realized there had been almost none up until this point. The teen, feeling sort of foolish, removed her sunglasses and replaced them back above her head, now scanning the area around her. This clearing would have made for a great landmark if it were possibly to 'mark' it in the jungle. Unfortunately land-marking anything was sort of impossible when the trees were like one-hundred feet tall and ten feet wide. Natalie walked into the middle and examined the ground around her, noticing an odd mark in the dirt. It looked freshly made, but it wasn't quite a hole. More like a place where a weight had been dropped.. "Maybe Tessa was here?" As if in response to the question spoken to nobody in particular Natalie heard a low growl from the trees behind her. Turning a quick one-eighty she spotted the silhouette of what seemed to be a really big cat. It didn't seem too keen on leaving the treeline however, instead preferring to hover in the area beyond the clearing. Rather than pick a fight with a scared kitty Natalie decided it best to just leave. It was obviously being territorial and not aggressive, so Natalie backed away slowly to the other side of the area. The cat was fine with it, since it left her alone. "He sensed the difference in power between us." Or he had just been brutalized once today and didn't feel like testing another hairless bipedal creature. Either way, Natalie was on her way with no trouble from the tiger and not much later found herself near the sound of water and more obnoxious birds. She went into a run now, following the sound as best she could, and was quickly rewarded with the sight of a familiar back. With a sigh of relief the teen halted her sprint and went into a walk. "Hey Tess, I made it!" She then put her sunglasses back on and approached the friendly face, genuinely glad to be in company again. |

Tessa hadn't taken 10 steps out of the jungle before she heard the sound of someone running toward her from behind. Quicker than she could turn, a familiar voice called out to her. A broad grin gracing her face, Tessa turned around to greet the girl she had been split up with, "Oh! You made it, I'm so glad!" Tessa gushed girlishly as she took a step forward with the intent to embrace the girl, but she summoned the willpower to restrain herself at the last moment. The cause of the restraint was that both the girl and Tessa were absolutely wretched, their respective mad dashes through the jungle had left both drenched in sweat, dirty, and with a few stray twigs in their hair. Tessa in particular had more than a few scrapes on her legs and arms from the foliage. The nearby lake and the currently peaceful environment prompted Tessa to make a suggestion. Well, more of a statement really. Turning halfway toward the nearby water, she gestured with one hand while she spoke, "I don't know about you, but I'm going to take a dip. It looks clean enough, and as long as we stay in the shallows I doubt any super sized fish will try to gobble us up." To emphasize her statement, Tessa removed her vest harness and began to undo her boots and ponytail. Placing her bags, boots, vest, and hair-tie on a particularly dry rock, she placed her hammer hesitantly next to them before turning back to the girl. "If something eats me, beat it up for me, yea?" A short run along the short beach led to a slight splash as she gracefully dove into the water. The water wasn't particularly cool, but it was much better than sitting around soaking in her own sweat. She appeared from below the surface with a dramatic toss of her head, a trail of water coming from her hair as it trailed an arc above her. She was about to call out to the girl to join her when she remembered something. "What's your name, anyway? I still havn't heard it yet," Tessa found it hard to believe she had missed such a large detail, but it was a good time to ask, now that they weren't running from anything. "And how'd you end up here? I'm dying to know," a wry smile lit up her face as she stood waist-deep in the shallows, "You might as well come in, the water is fine." "Yeah, I'm uh..glad too." Natalie felt a bit embarrassed by Tess' flowing girlishness, but she did her best to not be too detestable about it. Sooner or later Natalie just had to accept that some people were more outgoing than herself. That being said, if someone had hugged Natalie they would have noticed that she was surprisingly well kept despite the dreadful humidity and overbearingly warm temperature of Little Garden. Of course she was a bit cut up from wading through foliage, but her long dress seemed to have avoided any and all damage. So, really, it was just Natalie's arms that looked worse for wear. For now she ignored it and just focused on being a social human being. "Yeah, sure. If I see any giant fish I'll just..fight them. Hm." It would be difficult to put into action, considering Natalie sort of hated the thought of giant marine creatures. But if Tess actually got into trouble Natalie would likely be able to conquer her fear and save the girl. Hopefully it would never get that far. Tess probably hadn't heard that or seen Natalie's contemplating look either since she was too busy diving into the water. The teen wanted to follow her new companion into the water, but she was wearing just the one piece dress, and that wasn't really swimming attire. For now Natalie stood there awkwardly and waited for Tess to resurface, who did so with quite a bit of flair. "Oh, I'm Natalie. Natalie King." Natalie couldn't believe she had forgotten to introduce herself! It was a pretty stupid thing to just forget, but I guess dumber stuff has happened. Like agreeing to sail into the Grand Line on a metal tugboat deathtrap. Yeah, dunno who would ever attempt something like that. "And I'm basically here by accident. I've sort of been wandering for a really long time now, and somehow I just ended up here in the Grand Line. Well, I got fired from a job on my first week but that's not important." Hopefully that vagueish answer would satisfy the trendy giant woman. "Well, I'd jump in but.." Natalie sheepishly gestured to her clothes and gave a light shrug. The least she could do was dip her feet in though, so she walked to the water and did just that. The girl removed her sunglasses and set them to her side, then laid back and just let her legs float in the cool shallows. "You know, this place is kind of nice.." |

Her new friend didn't seem quite impressed with Tessa, but that wasn't entirely surprising, given the way they met and their current predicament. Tessa made up for her companion's reticence with her own current boisterous demeanor, so she wasn't going to complain. Indeed, any complaints would probably cause the girl to become even more reserved, which Tessa didn't want. The important thing is that Tessa now had something to call this P.Y.T., and the name was quite strong, which made Tessa even happier. "Oh, that's a great name!" she smiled at Natalie. If she had arrived here by chance, it means she'd have to pass over the Red Line, which was no mean feat. Tessa didn't quite catch the last part of what the girl said, but it was no matter. Truth be told, Tessa didn't even consider the girl's clothing, "Oh, of course, I'm sorry! I didn't even realize... I'd hate to see such a pretty dress get soaked." The dress was already dirtied somewhat by the jungle, but the water was another matter entirely. Tessa sank back into the water as she backed to a comfortably deep level where, when standing, her neck and head were above the water. "Nice, for a monster-infested, boat-crushing, terribly humid island, you mean?" Tessa laughed, "I suppose so, at least nothing's eaten me yet." After saying that, she retreated somewhat into the safety of the shallows a bit, prompting a giggle from the large lady. She dipped underneath the surface once more and rose again before wading out of the lake. She stood near Natalie, taking care not to splash her as she wiped sheets of water off of her long limbs. As she went to one of her bags for a towel, she spoke to Natalie, "So, what's the plan?" she asked as she dried herself, "I imagine we'd like to get away from this island as soon as possible." |

Natalie had an awkward smile across her face at Tess' approval of her name. It was pretty rare that anyone complimented the girl on her name, let alone anything. Her personality generally warded off that sort of thing. It was nice to feel so unconditionally liked. At Tess' mention of the dress getting soaked Natalie had responded without sitting up, so she wasn't sure if the other woman had even heard it. "It's no problem.." Her arms were draped over her face like a makeshift sun guard, so it had likely muffled her voice or something. Not like it was all that important. Tessa's interpretation of Little Garden had seemed to Natalie as humorous cynicism, so this got a bit of a chuckle out of her. "Yeah, not being eaten is good." After awhile Tess left the water and seemed ready to get serious, though Natalie wasn't quite there yet. "Honestly, I haven't given any thought to our 'plan'. I was sort of just enjoying the water.." Tessa had a good point though. The two would have to eventually leave the island, and so it made sense to at least think about how they'd accomplish that. "Hmm." With a quick motion Natalie was sitting upright and stretching her arms. A light breeze played lightly with her hair and she closed her eyes and savored the windy reprieve from the still and humid air. Finally she stood up and looked over at Tess, who somehow managed to look imposing and defined despite being soaking wet. Natalie admired her for a moment but felt that this whole thing reminded her a bit too much of Aspen, so before she got embarrassed she diverted from her already off-topic train of thought. "Well, I sort of..smashed your boat..so that's a no-go. But my boat is probably fine. If we get back there we could probably leave with no problem." Whether Tessa or not minded traveling with Natalie was something the orange-haired girl had considered, but for now just leaving Little Garden was the priority. "Er, well, sorry about your boat." It was almost a bit of an afterthought, but Natalie was sincere about the apology. At least Tess had her change of clothes. Natalie was really dreading not having a bathing suit right about now. She had been longingly staring at the water after finishing her sentence, though for a moment she thought she saw something on the surface out at the middle of the lake. Probably nothing important. |
