Gyatso had just finished making the food,"Well the food is done now, I can't say much about your training. The time frame is something personal, but at the rate you're going boy, you should be done between a week or two, I hope that isn't much of an inconvenience to you." The old man put down the pot of random food, it didn't look anything like what most people imagined any type of food to look. If anything it look grotesque, "Heh, Try and stomach this, if you can do it, well you'll be further in your training." This food was pretty nutritious but it was aimed at making one vomit, if Ittai had gotten far enough in the last bit he could probably relax the muscles that induced vomiting. Gyatso put the strange semi-liquid in two bowels, and slid one over to Ittai. "After this you'll be working on trying to use every muscle you have, even if it's only the tinniest twitch, try and use them individually. I'll be keeping a close eye on you. It'll take a little over 2 days at the current rate, maybe even a little longer."

Ittai stared down at the pot of gruel that the monk placed down in front of him and scowled at it, not bothering to answer the old man, even if the pirate did not particularly liked the answer. Granted that two weeks was not that long in the grand scheme of things, but the chef hated taking too much time on one thing if it could be done sooner. The problem was that having no experience with life return, the doctor had no idea exactly how far along he was vs how far along he was supposed to be at this point and as such, he would have to defer to the monk's knowledge about the subject, as much as he hated doing that. But back on topic, Ittai redoubled his scowl at the food, if you could actually call it that, in front of him. Just the smell alone was making his stomach rather queasy, giving him a rather decent preview of what it was going to taste like. Even though he had tasted plenty of foul smelling and/or tasting concoctions back when he was a ninja, the thing in front on him would probably take the metaphorical cake.

The pirate briefly considered completely ignoring the meal in front of him and going to find and/or cook a better one himself, but something told him that the old man would not allow him to do so, intending for the man to eat the foul concoctions. Plus, the monk said that it was training, so might as well do it. Taking a spoon, the doctor took some of the foul food and placed it in his mouth, quickly swallowing it. And almost immediately regretting that action. His stomach heaved heavily, threatening to forcefully expel the foul concoction. However, knowing that this was a test and knowing that besides this gruel he was unlikely to get anything to eat, the chef grimaced and forced his stomach to settle, devoting most of his brain power to doing so. Once he was certain that it was not going to come up, Ittai forced another spoonful down his throat, once again devoting of his power to keeping it down. Several more spoonfuls later, the pirate set the spoon down and sighed, glad to be done. Unfortunately, he still had to forcefully restrain his stomach for throwing up.

Two days later

Gyatso had just woken up that morning, he needed to check up on his student, the boy was hopefully progressing along the path well enough. The old monk didn't care about what the kid decided to use it on. Gyatso had yet to tell him what his plan was, he looked around for his grumpy student, hoping to find him at either the rocks outside the monastery or inside the inner circle of monastery. Both places were ideal for meditation, although Gyatso usually liked to meditate at the "bar" nearby.

Two days later

Ittai threw back another shot of whiskey and settled into his prefered meditative state. Ever since the monk had given him the next step for the training, the pirate found his own place where he prefered to meditate, thankful that the old man did not say anything about the location for the training. And while it could be considered counterintuitive to meditate in bar, the chef found it to be a rather nice place to do so. Granted that for the first couple of hours it was not so since people kept bothering him but after a few hearty smacks with his sword, people stopped bothering him and left him alone unless he deemed it necessary otherwise. And so, with several shots of hearty liquor flowing through his blood vessels, the doctor closed his eyes and focused on manipulating individual muscles. Ittai was proud of himself of getting the idea to drink before meditation since alcohol tended to relax him, making it somewhat easier to manipulate the muscles.

Granted, it also took more power trying to concentrate on one muscle at a time without his mind wandering, but it was a small price to pay to allow his muscles to relax and allow more conscious control of themselves. Seeing as how his body was trained from birth to respond unconsciously, it was harder for him to make a conscious effort to control them without some help from the liquor. The pirate hoped that eventually he wouldn't need any help to do so, but for now, he needed all the help he could get. After all, the monk said nothing about not having some help of achieving his goals. However, the chef had to make sure not to indulge in too much alcohol lest he became too drunk to focus on any single thing. The doctor's face went through a series of small and weird twiches as he gently pulled at all of the muscles he could find. While he was yet to have full control of the muscles, he did manage to get small twiches here and there from most of the muscles in his body.

Gyatso had finally reached the bar, his eyes were wandering looking around for his student. At first the monk had thought he was using this place to simply mess around, but more truthfully, it just seemed that alcohol helped the young man relax. Gyatso found his student, but something more important had grabbed his attention, a group of young scantily dressed woman. The monk was a hot blooded male, so of course he was distracted by such a thing. Oh if only he was young again, thinks would have been far simpler. Gyatso's eyes were firmly stuck on the women, he was walking toward his student, and tripped over a chair. The end result was Gyatso sprawled out on the floor in-front of Ittai, "Huh, mind helping me up boy, I'll see how far you've come along in your training"

Ittai cracked open one eye to look at the monk sprawled out in front of him and asking for help getting up. A part of the pirate wanted nothing more than to simply ignore or reject the old man, letting him get up by himself. But the other part of him, the larger part, realized that offending a master, who generously agreed to teach him for free, was not a particularly good idea, especially if considering that the monk could very well decide that he was tired of the chef's attitude and stop the training. Even if the doctor was an ass to the old man now and then over the past few days, everyone had a breaking point after which they just could not give any more shit about the person who was being an asshole and just washed their hands of them. Either way, Ittai could not afford losing the mentor just yet. Opening both his eyes, the pirate just sighed and extended his hand towards the old man. Hopefully, the monk would find his progress satisfactory.

Gyatso grabbed Ittai's hand and used it to pull himself back, he brushed his clothes down to free any lingering dust. "Thanks my boy. Now show me what you can do, since you find this place far more relaxing than an actual quiet place. I will never understand how you can actually sit here quietly." Gyatso said down on a stool, and faced his student. "After this we'll be working on something you'll find a little more interesting, trust me on this one." Gyatso seemed to be a little more relaxed as he sat back on his stool.

Ittai scowled as his teacher as the latter sat down and asked to see the results of his self-training. The pirate focused on the monk's second statement about liking the next part of training while ignoring the comment about being able to concentrate inside the bar. There was no reason for the chef to reveal anything about himself unless it was absolutely necessary to do so for the training. And since the old man did not need to know about his previous ninja training, the doctor did not feel like revealing it just like that. Ittai did not know what the monk could mean by having a more fun training later since he was kind of enjoying his current training, but that wasn't something that he should be thinking right about now. Now was the time to show his mentor the fruits of his labor.

Taking another shot of whiskey, the pirate closed his eyes and concentrated on moving, well more like twitching, his muscles. After making his face go through what must have looked like a series of mini convulsions, the chef moved onto the rest of his body, the twitches appearing more minor than the ones in face due to the lack of proximity of the major muscles to the skin. After going through most of the muscles at least once, the doctor opened his eyes and looked at the monk.

Gyatso watching his student's face almost convulse, it was pretty funny to see and he found himself laughing hard. But then held it down to pay closer attention to how his student was doing. This was progress at the very least. Gyatso had the next step prepared, and it definitely wasn't going to be easy for his student. "That was alright. Now follow me for the next step, this place is too distracting." Gyatso eyed the girls at the table again as he slowly walked out of the bar. He made his way toward the monastery, the next step was something Gyatso was looking forward to. It had been a while since he had to teach anyone this part of the whole process.

Once he arrived at the monastery he made his way toward the inner dojo, it was made for fighting, and the grin on Gyatso's face made his intent obvious enough. "Now, this step is feeling inside of your body, and manipulating your muscles, while trying to avoid my hair-whips. I'll be sending multiple of them after you. Chances are this might take a good week, maybe less if you're good. Now get ready."

Ittai looked blankly at the old man for a few moments before getting up and placing the sword on his back. Taking the bottle of the remaining whiskey, the pirate followed the monk back to the monastery. The chef really doubted that whatever the master had prepared for him to do would be in any way fun. Well, maybe for the old man but definitely not for him. Well, unless it involved good food, good drink, and pretty ladies, though he doubted that the monk would have any of those things for training. Plus, those things would just prolong the training even further than really necessary. Sighing, the doctor silently followed the master, not particularly caring to ask what exactly the next training would be. After all, he would see it pretty soon. And as soon as the duo reached the temple, Ittai found out exactly what he would be doing. Narrowing his eyes behind the glasses in another glare, the pirate elected not to say anything and instead took a gulp of whiskey before getting into a trance-like stances, hoping that his instinct would help him avoid the hair.

Gyatso allowed his hair to grow into four large tendrils, they waved around in the air as he looked at his student. "Alright Boy. It's time for some real training, this will be the most painful part of the entire ordeal, everytime you remember to read inside of your body again, and twitch your muscles, I'll increase the number of tendrils, but should you purposefully try not to, then I'll do it once again. You understand?" Gyatso's tone of voice seemed to be a lot harsher than usual, but the smirk on his face clearly conveyed the mirth he was feeling toward the situation. Faster than the average person could even attempt to blink, one of the tendrils was on it's way to Ittai, it lashed out with a rather harsh whip crack, soon enough 4 more followed. Today would not be a very nice day for Ittai....

Ittai barely heard the old man's words as he focused on feeling out his body. And even if the pirate wasn't busy concentrating on his muscles, it was doubtful that he would have much of a response for the monk aside from the usual glare. After all, what could he say? Either way he would be accosted by the hair whips unless he decided to end the training here and now. And frankly, that was never going to happen. The chef had spent way too much time with the old man, learning the ways of life return, to simply quit now. Now it was all or nothing. He would learn it or die trying. The doctor hoped that it would not come to the latter and kind of doubted that he would actually go through with dying if learning the art proved to be unreachable. But, stranger things have happened. Mentally shaking his head, the bilkan almost jumped at the sound of a snapping whip and managed to just barely move his body out of the way of the first hair whip. Allowing his instinct to take over, the pirate began to minutely control his muscles all the while either barely dodging or barely getting hit by the whips.

Gyatso was standing there, he looked relaxed and calm. His hair tendrils were whipping out at his student, and some of them hit. The monk didn't have any sort of discernible expression on his face. Gyatso bumped up the attack with another two hair tendrils, he wanted his student to really feel the first day. It was always a great reminder for someone to do better, plus bruises and scars make for great long term and short term memories! "Come'on! You can do better than that boy! My grandma can move better than you! And guess what...She's dead! Hahahaha" Goading his students was always one of his favorite past-times.

Two days later
Gyatso was still at it, he was working with about 20 hair whips, a couple of these were sharpened. He found that when danger was added into this, someone would be far more likely to dodge an attack."Come on, is that all you have? This is disappointing, I should give up, unless you try harder, you won't learn this." The monk's tone was harsher, a sudden flip in personality tended to surprise people, and that was what Gyatso was using against Ittai now, it would hopefully work out for the best.

Ittai grunted as the monk increased the number of hair whips by two, adding additional things that the pirate had to keep in mind while his consciously had to feel and control every single muscle in his body. Not a fun time at the slightest. Of course, currently, the chef struggled avoiding even the current number of whips and as such, additional whips were proving to be quite a challenge, but nothing that he could not handle. Ignoring, or mostly not hearing, the old man's comments, the doctor dodged a couple of the whips while wincing slightly as the remaining whips added to the number of whelts that began to accumulate all over his body. But, Ittai was no stranger to pain, considering that his body was in pretty much a state of constant pain as the burns from long ago continued to make themselves known. In fact, that was one of the reason that the pirate wanted to learn life return was to decrease the pain from his wounds. Clearing his head of distracting thoughts, the chef dodged another hair whip.

Two days later

The doctor panted slightly as he dodged another whip, this one having a sharpened end. For the past two days all Ittai did was combining his instinctual dodging ability with consciously controlling the individual muscles. So far he was somewhat successful, mainly concentrating his efforts to dodging the sharpened whips by consciously controlling the individual muscles required to move his body out of the way of the whips. Thankfully, the pirate no longer required consuming alcohol to relax himself, his body and mind becoming one much easier. The chef completely ignored the old man's outburst, having gotten used to verbal taunting and abuse during his childhood training. Plus, the doctor did not particularly care about the monk's supposed sudden change in personality. All he cared about was learning this stuff as fast as he could.

Another 3 days later
Gyatso pumped up the number of hair whips by a lot, his student was grasping this step better than he had expected. The old man still didn't feel like using deadly force....That much. But there were still a good few sharpened hair whips. Gyatso gave his student nearly no sleep or rest for the last couple of days. This would push him to the limit, reach new heights, or kill him. It didn't matter to the monk, it wouldn't be the first time a student of his died. Gyatso smirked, "So boy, think you can go on anymore? You're almost done with your training, one more step, follow me. No sleep for you either." And suddenly all the hair whips had stopped, the monk was walking back out of the monastery, he was sweating and breathing harder than normal.

It was a workout for him too, the young man in front of him was doing good, amazing even. But that wouldn't matter for this step. "This step is the hardest of them all, hair control. Get your hairs to twitch by tomorrow, no sleeping either until you've finished this part of this following step. You'll then work on fine control and finally growing, anything else comes with experience. Rejoice boya, your wish will be granted." And the old man sat down on a rock, he pointed to a waterfall which would be ice cold.
