Hey what kind of merfolk are allowed?

Asking cause I've noticed that there are multiple types of mermaids.

any kind you want. Special abilities cost traits though and are generally restricted to the lower regions.

Well there are the tiny ones, the normal sized one, the giant ones and the ones that can call upon sea creatures, I believe. How much would they cost trait wise? Independently, not as a group? Sorry I'm looking into what all a mermaid can have as a character since I most likely will be making one.

It's on a species basis. All you said doesnt matter. And talking to fish is already included as a base merfolk ability

Merfolk (1 Trait) - In place of legs these characters have a tail which splits down the middle while they are standing on land (For this RP's purposes, this is the case at any age, not just 30+). They may breathe underwater and gain the Great Speed trait whilst submerged, and their movements underwater are completely unhindered. Spending too long out of water can fatigue them somewhat. In addition, merfolk can talk to most types of fish, but not seakings.

I see was just curious what all they can do since Shirohoshi could at certain times controlsea kings and Jimbe could control whales it seemed?

I know its probably a no go but still just curious, good to know the limits I always say.

Sea kings is always a no go. she only can because she is an ancient weapon, poseidon. Which is a never a power that would be allowed in the hands of RPCs. Saying Jimbei doesnt matter if you want to be a merfolk. Jimbei is a fishman, not a merman. And plus, he summoned whale sharks, not whales.

I'll be honest, there needs to be some common sense here. Sea kings is such a ridiculous thing to even consider. They are huge, and plus with the extremely well known fact that Shirahoshi can talk to seakings because she is Poseidon, not a mermaid. Poseidon does have to be a mermaid but, that doesn't mean every mermaid has the possibility.

Anything that has the possibility to destroy entire civilizations or islands will be a straight up no that really shouldn't even be asked. It just seems obvious to me, and I'm sorry if I come off harsh here. Truly am, just felt it needed to be said.

Ah I see thought it was an extension of talking to fish ^^;; and I'm between making a mermaid or fishman.
That's why I'm asking bout mermaids since I know fishmans relay on their fish species.

I know that and was asking because they may be allowed or not to call upon regular fish sorry for being stupid, just wanted to figure out wwhat's allowed and what's not allowed.

Mermaids can gain stuff based off of their species. But the only things they get are whats stated in base trait. If you feel they deserve something from their species, talk to a mod and you can perhaps gain it and make it worth two traits.

That's why I made this thread. And if I ask via trait by trait it could take a very long time. Like if a mermaid with the electric eel species could use its ability, or one with the flying fish species could jump or glide for certain distances.
