"Do you...even know what violence is?" The man blinked, looking the other in the eyes before casting a quick glance at the wrapped-up female. "Violence would imply that I was actually hurting her, when in fact she's as unharmed as a baby in a cradle. As for abusing, I'd say that this is more or less her just deserts for giving me that cut on my neck." He narrowed his eyes, the amber set directly on that hat this guy wore, then back to his face. "Despite how rude you were, I don't actually give a shit about fighting you. This isn't what its about. Hell, it isn't even about hurting this girl right here; no, I just want to embarrass her as she tried to embarrass me." He yawned, shaking his head before looking back at the sand man. "So, Hitori, knowing that I plan on letting her out eventually, let's talk. It'd be a good way to pass the time, and I doubt you want to lose some limbs just because you feel threatened. See, violent types. After glancing over your thoughts, relatively, I can already tell your first option was to try and kill me." He yawned, cuffing his mouth with his free hand. "Tell me, Hitori, what is a man like you doing in a place like this?" |

Listening to the man speak was actually more entertaining than Hitori wanted to admit to himself. His words that he spoke were true enough that the pirate had no choice but to agree within the confines of his own mind. If the male had no intention of fighting than the swordsman had none as well even though some part of him wanted to fight. Some part of him wanted to clash his power against this strong male and see how he measured up. To see if his training with Kurion had actually made him stronger or if it was a simple illusion cast by his many fights against weaklings. He wanted to fight this man to ascertain that he was able to fight in the grand line that he was not some throw away. His heart clutched tight as he remembered the pain of the attack Daisuke had used, then the pain of being thrown away. He was strong and the only way for him to grow was to fight opponents even stronger than himself. So deep within himself Hitori realized this and knew that if he had the chance he would fight this male. Yet his rational mind that cared for his and Ayumi's safety told him to avoid that, plus even if he was to somehow win then he'd be far to weak to deal with the marines that would show up from their battle. A deep chuckle resounded with Hitori's gullet as he collected his thoughts and organized them much like a librarian. If he could avoid a battle than he would so talking things out with this fellow seemed like the right move to make. Yet what exactly they'd talk about remained a mystery to the chef as he though over all the male had said so far. Wait, Hitori's thoughts froze for a moment as he reached the part about glancing over his thoughts. Did this mean this guy possessed the power to read minds, how exactly did he accomplish this kind of feat. Was it a devil fruit power or some other mystical means? The pirate was curious now as he looked over the male once more trying to distinguish anything out of the ordinary yet coming up with nothing. Now to add some more information to what he already knew about the fellow before him. He could read minds more or less and he knew exactly who Hitori was without the latter ever having said his name. Now while Hitori did have a bounty it wasn't exactly notable that every person knew about it. So he figured that this guy was either a very skilled bounty hunter or a high ranking marine the second of which being less likely. "Well I'm here to taste the cuisines of this fine Island and to find out some information of course. Now if you don't mind I'll apologize for my associates rudeness, but I have some questions of my own. First and foremost who are you, you're strong yet I have no knowledge of you whatsoever yet you know me. Second can you read minds? And lastly can we do this exchange over some beer I was looking for a bar before you know." Hitori glanced into the amber eyes of the male as he spoke trying to decipher his reactions to the swordsman's carefully chosen words. While the male wanted information he didn't want to sound overly rude as that would put Ayumi's life in danger and he couldn't have that right. With another tip of the hat Hitori waited leaning upon his sword much like a cane waiting for the male's response hoping he liked the answers. |

The man blinked, and his eyes were set on the male in front of him. He almost wished that he could actually read minds, because then he'd no the exacts of what this one was thinking; as it were, he could only use what he saw to take very well-educated guesses. "Taste the cuisine, eh? Yea, a lot of tourists do just that. But...you're hardly just some tourist. I can't help but think you're here for more than just that." There was an edge in his voice here, if only slight, as if something was really bothering him about that first line of thought. "But, eh, you're looking for information. Maybe I could help you with that." The man's eyes narrowed as the crocodile-in-training stated that he had questions of his own. It was as funny as it was adorable, especially giving the abnormality of the situation. "My name? Ahhh...call me Tom. As far as me knowing you, do you have any idea what your bounty is? While its hardly plastered around everywhere, it is in enough places that people that look around would find your face and name familiar; I just happened to have more interest in the finer details." He smiled, a devilish smile that made him think of various thinks. But he seemed to want to keep whatever he was thinking at the moment to himself. "Though, I'll admit, that bounty you have on your head could do a lot of things for my business." There was yet another pause, and the man stroked his chin, which had a white goatee, looking quite thoughtful despite himself. "As far as reading minds...I'll tell you 'more or less'. Say, have you heard of Haki before?" |

Hitori glanced at the male as he spoke this guy was smart and that made him all the more dangerous. The longer this conversation went on the more the pirate felt like he shouldn't attempt to fight this guy. Everything about him seemed to radiate some kind of power that he could not place at the moment. It almost infurtiated him as he tought about it this guy was something else entirely and Hitori wanted to know everything about him. This guy could help him with information not that would make this encounter so much more benificial that the pirate could ignore the things done to Ayumi. He was intriguied now then the male began to talk about Hitori's bounty which in his eyes seemed pretty meager. Compared to the big shots he'd been in crews with his bounty was nothing to write home about. So this guy was keeping notice of those with somewhat high bounties. Every bit of information was leading to him being a marine or bounty hunter and Hitori truly wanted to know which one. Tom hm? That was an interesting name most people used when they didn't want to really reveal their identity. Kind of similar to the John doe marines and doctors used when unable to tell who a body belonged to. While it intrigued him as to why exactly the male was so reluctant to tell his true self it was not uncommon. Knowing people's true names held alot of power in the Grand Line which was why having a large bounty was sometimes troublesome for the more powerful pirates. Why just the other day he read about this guy Izuru with a bounty of 200,000,000 beli that was four times Hitori's puny amount. So imagine the type of hell that guy went through on a frequent basis his crew for that matter as well. When the male mentioned Haki Hitori's eyebrow raised a bit, while he'd heard the name itself he'd never exactly known what it did. Only strong people had it though so all of the male's previous assumptions were now proven true this guy was strong. Business? What business was this guy in? So many questions and he had the odd feeling that none of them would be answered if he was to ask them. This encounter was becoming weirder and weirder by the moment especially with two people standing on top of a roof. One of which holding a girl wrapped in chains over his shoulder and the other leaning on a sword. He could only imagine how odd they looked and prayed to whatever god or gods existed that no one would call the marines. He just didn't have the time for them right now. "Nonsense I'm a tourist just like any other, what I can't enjoy my fair share of food? I'm a chef you know. Information huh? Would you happen to know anything about ex-marines? If not then that's perfectly fine. My bounty isn't exactly high when you think about the other big names out there if I can say that. Tom. So explain to me what is this Haki thing you speak of while I've heard the name I have no idea what it is or does. That allows you to read minds huh?" Hitori would wave a bit as he spoke his eyes never wavering from the face of the silvered haired male he now called Tom. While he was bursting full of questions he kept alot of them constrained only asking those of the most importance at the moment. One he forgot to ask was when exactly he planned on letting Ayumi go. Damn it. |

This strange male looked at they other guy, and a smirk slipped on his face. He closed his eyes and shook his head before opening them again and looking the other man in the eyes. "There's nothing wrong with enjoying your fair share of food, but one would think that a chef wouldn't exactly degrade themselves by going to any old run-down, dark restaurant. 'Shady customers and staff and all." His smirk moved into a simple smile. "Which makes me quesiton just why you're here. I'd imagine picking one of the more appetizing places would do you better." There was a pause. "Ex-marines? Well, if you're looking for those, you certainly came to the right place. I mean, this place is known to be a huge marine hotspot, and, as a result, probably has the most ex-marines around. By the way, that also makes me question why you're here, sir." "Unfortunately, I can't help you with just that much information." The man's eyes narrowed. This guy seemed to have some sort of recongnition of the name, but, from what Tom was getting, he didn't seem to be sure of its power. Why ask a question like this if he did? "Forget it. You don't really seem ready for a history lesson just yet." |

The pirate sighed yet again the man did not answer his question completely although by now he was more than used to it. He expected it actually and when the male shoved off his question about haki he didn't skip a beat. It didn't matter anyway the question he was more worried about had been answered although he buried it within his words. A place ex-marines inhabited huh? Sounded like the perfect place to find his prey Lawson could hide but not forever. Sooner or later Hitori planned on killing that bastard and when that day came oh how sweet the taste of revenge would feel. He was sure Ayumi felt the same way having had her home and family destoryed by the same man as himself. He tried to control his influx of emotions however as he looked at the silver haired man. Tom was his alias. "Sure history was never the best subject for me but how about you tell me if you know anything about ex-rear admirals? One by the name of Lawson hmm it probably wont ring a bell. He's a fellow I'd like to meet and have a discussion with and if at all possible give him the one thing he's been searching for all his life." While he tried to contain it Hitori's words held cold fury but his face was as blaank and serene as the ocean on a nice warm day. He'd perfected hiding his emotions after living on that island with Kurion for a year. Well not exactly hiding simply let go of most of them. They were useless to him and he saw no real need for them. All he needed was his calm and collected fury to guide him on his blood soaked path of vengeance the one that would leave his very soul tarnished. |

Tom smirked, his amber eyes trained on the pirate across from him. It wasn't everyday that you saw a pirate try and find a ex-rear admiral, much less with the clear intent of trying to kill them. "Oh c'mon! The amount of killing intent I'm vibing off you gives you all away, man! You're angry, despite wanting to come off less hostile." The man spat on the roof, closing his right eye as he did so before looking back at this guy. "As far as the name Lawson goes, I don't care much about marines. Not anymore, at least. But..." The mysterious man sneered, before rubbing the tip of his nose with his right index finger. "If you can tell me just why you want this guy dead, maybe I could find someone to help you. Maybe." After talking, the man flinched, even if for only a brief moment, an expression of pain found itself on his face. He dropped the chain-covered Ayumi gripping his right hand with his left. |

Guess when this guy could read minds then it was useless trying to hide his inner emotions that from him. Actually now that the pirate thought about it the male had said nothing about his actual thoughts. If he really could read his mind then he would have known instantly why Hitori had so much hate towards the ex-marine. Yes it was clear that this haki he spoke of did not allow him to read minds in the way the swordsman had been thinking of before. There seemed to be some kind of trick to the thing and it was a mystery he was fixated on figuring out. Going back to when he first heard the male speak of his thoughts he hadn't really mentioned anything he'd actually "thought" about. Merely noting on the fact that Hitori's first inclination was to kill this guy to rip him apart with all of his strength. At that time he was exuding a massive amount of killing intent a strong sense of emotion. This time he'd released a large amount of killing intent when thinking about the rear admiral which meant that he had this haki thing figured out. Apparently haki could read the emotions or intent of an individual so if they had high killing intent their thoughts could be "read". It was a scary power but the more Hitori thought about it the more he wanted it, he wanted the power that this man had. The only way to get it was to make this man reveal that power to him but how he was to go about that was an entirely different matter. Coming to this island was beginning to prove more and more beneficial as time went on, maybe he had found someone to help him reach even higher heights of power. So he wanted to know exactly why he wanted Lawson dead huh Hitori's mind had just went over the details so the mind reading was obviously out of the window. The male smiled as he stood straight up for once sheathing his sword and using it as a cane to stand up. His hand raised to tip his hat forward a bit as he starred at the male with eyes full of excitement. Anyone that could help him find his prey was not only useful but considered something of a friend. That was the reason he traveled with Ayumi who held the same goals as him and as such could help him reach his own. A deep sigh as Hitori thought of how much he should tell this guy and after a few moments of silent deliberation decided to tell it all. He'd recant the story of how his life was destroyed over this very same sword he held in his hand. "See this sword? It's a bit unique and worth alot to Lawson. Worth so much that he decided to destroy homes in the blues to find it. My home and hers. He took the life of my parents and burned my home island to a crisp. So I decided I would take on the mission of killing him with this very same sword he'd tried so hard to find. I'll kill him-" Hitori was cut off as he saw the male almost tip over grabbing at his right arm while releasing Ayumi. The pirate had no time to really think about his reactions his body moved of it's own accord and he just went with it. With what appeared to be a single step the male crossed the distance between the two grabbing Ayumi with one hand catching her just before she hit the ground. "Tom what's wrong with you? You probably need a doctor or something right?" He couldn't afford to let this guy die not when he had so much information and the abilities to teach Hitori so much. This guy had to survive and that meant even if he had to help him he'd do it without regret. While waiting for the guys reply Hitori reached over loosening the chains binding Ayumi wrapping the chain itself around his arm and offering it to the male. "Come on man what to do?" |

"Ah..." The single sound came out as a long and dry one, as if his mind was going over something that only he knew the answer to. Or, rather, that only he could find the answer to. "Nothing that you could possilbly help with. Just something due to a life of manufacturing and experimentation, and something going very, very wrong." He straightened himself, shaking his head as he help up his right hand; oddly enough, the sound of sparks seemed to be coming from him. "Now, as for that sword of yours, what exactly is so special about it that a rear admiral would go through so much trouble to get it?" Yes. It was strange that someone at such a level of power would try so hard to get any sort of weapon. While it was likely that a man that carried the bounty that Hitori had was using a weapon far above the norm, it was unlikely that it was something that powerful. But then this was the grand line, and you never knew what any given person had, or how strong they were. Edited by SvenFold, Jun 6 2013, 07:59 AM.

When the man seemed to straighten up albeit akwardly Hitori found himself breathing a sigh of relief. This guy was something on another scale entirely experiments gone wrong, he barely understood anything this guy said. Yet he did notice the dim sound of sparks but the pirate quickly disregarded that focusing more on the man himself who seemed to be getting over his episode. Looking over at Ayumi he quickly spoke with her his instructions to bring both of them something to drink preferably liquor. With a swift nod she disappeared from the roof being once weak he knew that her speed was quite above the normal. Yet to him she still moved in slow motion is that how Tom felt when he watched Hitori move. How pitiful and he was the man with the name the silver Flash if he couldn't even keep up with this guys speed he had no right to that name. "Alright then this sword here is made out of seastone and seaking bone two rare materials for the Blues dont you think. While it may not be something super extraordinary here in the grand line it's quite rare there. That is why he was after this sword." Hitori sighed as he held the chain out to the male hoping he'd take it sometime within the next century. |

What. That was the one word that went through Tom's mind after hearing what the man had to say about why the rear admiral did what he did to get that sword. "Yes, I know all about those materials. I'm a smith. And being a smith, I know that a rear admiral would be able to easily get his hands on those materials. Hell, he even would have been able to get a hold of someone that could have crafted a better sword." He squinted one of his eyes, realizing that last line may have been a mistep on his part. "Er, no offence to you and the one who made that, of course. I was just speaking from a business point of view." His expression had shifted, losing its nonchalant appearance in favor of something much more serious, as if what this pirate had said jogged something in his memory, or at least insight something that could pertain to the situation. "You don't find it strange that someone who has as many connections and fortune as a rear admiral would risk his amazing job and reputation to steal something he could have picked up just by telling a subordinate to 'order this for me'? Not even in the slightest?" He looked away, shaking his head and sighing to himself. "Let's take a walk. Also, what island in the blues are we talking about?" And without any further notice, he leaped off the roof, landing on the ground bellow easily enough, motioning with his right hand for the pirate to follow. |

Sighing Hitori took almost not offense to the words spoken by Tom, he didn't actually care much for the sword other than his parent's having died to protect it. For some reason this sword was special and while he had yet to find out that reason he felt keeping it safe was important somehow. If he could keep it safe and approach the rear admiral with the blade itself maybe that man would have the answers. The only problem with that stragety would be whether or not Hitori would be able to hold off on killing the man long enough to ask any questions. He had no doubt that if he was to fight that man petty thoughts such as why he would want such a sword would be void. Although seastone was pretty pricey along with seaking bone they weren't exactly out of range of a rear admirals pay grade. Actually thinking with all the powerful devil fruit users out there it would be pretty stupid to think more of the higher up marines didn't wield seastone. Like that was the only way to hit logias like himself right otherwise how exactly did they combat logias in the past and present. He was well aware that he was not the only person with the ability to turn himself into an element and freely control it. While it was a great power it was not one he used often as it made him look weak relying only on a power that he happened to stumble across. No his true strength came when he didn't use his logia when he used the power he'd gained from training his body to the edge. A deep chuckle resounded within the belly of Hitori as he thought these thoughts that often made him feel alot better. Did he find it strange that a man with such a stature as an rear admiral did not simply buy the materials yes. He found it really strange but that didn't matter to much to him as he'd find out sooner or later the real reason. Maybe the ex-marine just wanted to flaunt his power or some other nonsense it mattered little. The end result would be Hitori killing the man slowly and painfully none-the-less. Now the swordsman was thinking of just how to approach this male with his next question one that he wanted answered. He needed to know whether or not the smith before him could or would teach him how to use haki. Hitori was strong there was no reason why he couldn't use haki right? So how exactly was he to phrase the words to convince this sickly old man to teach him how to do it hmm? "Yeah I know but my wonder isn't that great I can be pretty one track-minded about these things. East blue Rukon Island. Now on to my biggest question could you possibly teach me how to use that haki thing? I can pay you or I can work for you." Hitori continued his pleas as he followed the male off the roof his left foot touching the ground slightly before his right as his sword cane touched down after that. He began to follow the old guy happy in part to finally be off the roof where people might notice him even more. Thinking about it he had the thought to cover his face with a mask but quickly dismissed it. At the moment he could just remain anonymous as best as possible if he saw marines or bounty hunters he'd just run away simple as that. Right? |

The cloaked figure stopped suddenly, blinking once as he registered just what this strange pirate said to him. Asked of him. Oddly, the air seemed to grow cold. Frigid, as if a wind from the tundra had surfaced in the now-desolate alleyway that the man had led the other to. The amber-eyed man breathed once, watching his breath frost over before him. "One-track minded is right. Tell me, Hitori, where is your wench." The words spoken were crisp, and the sting behind them strong, indicating some sort of inner resentfulness that had been long suppressed. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, thinking through a mountain of thoughts. "Did you ever...think to check on the status of her? I saw her move, and know she should have been quick enough to catch up." He exhaled, turning his head towards the pirate. "Haki? You want to 'learn' haki? Show some more backbone. You seem far too unsure of your own ability to beat me. I can't teach you anything, its something you must learn for yourself." There was a pause. The air grew colder, and it felt as if the oxygen was slowly being sucked from the air. However, despite that, it was still very manageable to breath for both of them. "...Lust!" |

The duo began to move slowly towards a dark alleyway during which the two males proceeded to have their discussion. Then the two felt a cold wind begin to fall upon them chilling the air to unprecendented levels. Even with Hitori's unnaturally high resistance to changes in the weather he felt the cold like this. His breathe began to frost over in front of his very eyes his senses now honed as he decided something was wrong. There was absolutely no reason for the weather to change so drastically so the swordsman's first thought was a devil fruit user. This seemed like the sort of things that a devil fruit could do which meant he had a problem. His eyes looked over at the male as he said the word wench.. it took the male a few moments to actually realize what the guy was talking about. "Ayumi?" Really why was he so angry at her like yes she was a little rash and her methods weren't always the best but there was no reason for so much resentment. His eyes looked around as he glanced to see if he spotted anything out of the ordinary, he noticed nothing. Yes Ayumi could have kept up with them but he'd sent her to get something to drink but actually she shouldn't have taken this long. With her speed there was no way she wouldn't have found a bar and returned by now which made the pirate think about where she could be. He had to admit he had something similar to worry bothering him right now where is she. Gripping his sword a bit he looked at the male almost ignoring his words his anger growing by the moment. So he had no backbone huh? Couldn't teach him anything? Fuck that. Old man you don't really understand who the fuck you are truly dealing with do you. Hitori gripped his sword even tighter as he glanced at the male sizing him his anger itself growing in strength. His judgement to not fight was being over ridden this guy was treating him like a complete and utter chump. Hitori had just about had enough of people underestimating him fuck that it was time for him to show this guy he was no pushover. Sand began to pour slowly off the sand man's body and fall onto the ground he hadn't trained so long to be push around. Even as Hitori did this he noticed the air becoming even colder the air itself growing stale but by this time the male didn't even care at this moment. He was going to show just how one track minded he could truly be. His thoughts of ayumi were all but forgotten seeing as he knew how capable she was there was almost no reason to worry. Instead he had to prove that he was strong. "You know Tom how about I show you that I do have the power to contest you." |
