Character Template [-----] Account Name: ultrabot Basic Character Information Name: Bennett Nickname: ‘Black Bureaucrat’ Age: 18 Gender: Male Race: Human Affiliation: Marine Rank (0): Ensign Achievements: Graduated Marine academy Made his way to ensign rank Profession: ~Merchant Merchants are fairly charismatic people who are skilled in both bargaining and selling things to others. Their expertise means that they are very knowledgeable of the economy, and deal with all manner of merchandise. Merchants can get a 10% discount on any purchases they make, no matter what the item, for themselves. ~Weapon Specialist A much more general fighter-type profession, a Weapon Specialist is someone who has to a large or small degree devoted his/her life to the mastery of a single weapon or weapon type, such as Swords, Axes or Whips. This profession applies generally to melee weapons. Position: Secretary/pencil pusher Physical Appearance Height: 5’11 Weight: 152 lbs. Hair: Black, somewhat messy culminating in a fringe Eyes: Also black they rarely have to blink making Bennett not only an asset in a staring contest but also a candidate for eye diseases in old age Clothing/Accessories: Ben’s pay packet has never really allowed for expensive clothes, as such he’s grown to enjoy clothing of block colour and simple in nature. His ‘wardrobe’ (if you could even call it that, seems to be made up of a small selection of well-fitting t-shirts, a few ‘fancy’ shirts, jeans, shorts and a single pair of comfortable but sensible shoes. Not exactly a classy or fashionable gent Bennett could fit in almost anywhere if it wasn’t for his slightly thuggish appearance. Outside of work he’ll normally be seen in a t-shirt and jeans. Recently he’s also taken to carrying at a sword upon his person at all times. Standard Marine gear seems to suit Bennett well. Although not exactly immaculate, whilst at work, the seaman could almost be said to care about his appearance. The black suit, white shirt combo earned him his ‘black bureaucrat’ nickname is donned almost religiously each and every day. His necktie is tied with an identical knot each and every morning, his whites are slightly whiter than the average Marine’s and his boots often are polished to the point of reflection. Whilst on duty, Bennett is never seen without his standard issue marine cap or cloak over the top of his suit. General Appearance: Throughout childhood, Ben could never be described as skinny, as he always managed to put more than enough food upon the table. During his teens however, working evenings shifting boxes left him a robust and lean young fellow. He’s currently at work refining his body with the five step marine training plan ‘Lieutenant Marx’s Maximum- Maritime-Muscle’ Along with his eyes the only noticeable feature upon Ben’s face, is his rather unruly, although small, nose. (As far as noses go, it’s not had the best of lives, having been broken upon several occasions, but it still fulfills its primary function,) It’s accompanied with fairly average sized ears and a mouth that betrays very little emotion. Throughout his youth, Bennett managed to keep his body free of tattoos. As a bit of a punk in his school days, the same could not be said for scars. His knuckles are covered with little white blemishes and marks from a youth of constant attrition and upon his chest there’s a single scar from a stab-wound he ‘can’t recall’. Often intimidating to say the least, Bennett stands at full height and aims never to show discomfort. Although whether he manages to do so effectively is anyone’s guess. Spoiler: click to toggle The Character Personality: As a youth, Bennett was taught that you could get a lot more out of the world by communicating than through violence. In reality this isn’t always the case. As a result of this, Ben is only socially adept when he wants to be. Growing up surrounded by crime, Ben knows that a little bit of grease makes the gears go around a lot faster. Some crime will never be stomped out, no matter how hard he tries, but he’ll be damned if he allows it upon his watch. As a marine, Ben isn’t so much ‘good-cop, bad-cop’ but rather ‘bad-cop, worse-cop’. With a lack of patience at the best of times he sometimes finds it a little difficult to make time for protocol. Joining the corps may have been mostly a career move, but if crime rears its ugly face, he’ll do anything within his power to quash it. (Bennett wouldn’t be averse to letting a little crime slip in order to net the culprit behind a more serious one.) Normally the silent but deadly type whilst on duty, Ben changes when he leaves work. He can take a while getting used to, but most people consider him a fairly enjoyable company who can laugh at the right times and help out in a fight during others. As a kid from a big academy, the ensign struggles to trust his comrades at times and is almost always on guard for some kind of assault, be it a physical or verbal one; ready to retaliate in kind. This upbringing not only gave him a gift for reading situations and a sixth sense for trouble, but a level of die-hard loyalty to those who may not have earned his trust. As a man with quite a lot of spare time, when not out on ‘Marine Socials’ or swimming through paperwork, he’s training his body, honing his skills or enjoying his surroundings with a cup of tea. Whilst Bennett abstains from alcohol, he has developed something of an addiction to the caffeine based substitute and quickly grows grumpy if he goes even just a few waking hours without it. Marine to the core, whilst he can tolerate some lawbreakers, Bennett doesn’t play well with pirates, especially those who murder his comrades in arms for a quick bounty. Those men were often just doing their jobs, working to keep common people safe and contrary to popular belief; not everyone in the fleet is corrupt. Whilst he may not be particularly close to his fellow marines, Bennett will stand by them and persecute those who target his comrades with an uncharacteristic level of malice. Bennett, like his nickname suggests is most comfortable with a pen, a cup of tea and a pile of forms at the end of the day. Gifted with the most basic form of photographic memory and a real knack for understanding of bureaucratic systems; the man has something of an autistic savant when it comes to paperwork. He can unearth or hide a surprising number of circumstances given enough time. Hometown: Shell Town, East Blue History: Amongst the proud Rookwood family; Tobias Rookwood was widely regarded to be the biggest waste of genetic material for generations. A rookie, impaled upon his own cutlass in a simple training exercise wasn’t exactly the officer the marine family been hoping for. Cutting his gene-pool from the household seemed the most logical thing to do; his young son Bennett Rookwood was forced to abandon his surname and was forbidden from having any further contact with the clan. As a child, growing up on the harsh streets of Loguetown, there wasn’t anything Bennett sought more than redeeming what remained of his family. Forced to work at an early age to put food upon the table the boy became quite intelligent for his age but also ominously quite bitter. As he grew, the thoughts of redemption steadily twisted to thoughts of revenge. The exile hadn’t been kind to his reclusive mother, who gradually faded away throughout his early years. Upon her death, the vengeful young Bennett signed up at the local marine academy as soon as he was eligible, determined to prove that he was worth living; determined to prove the Rookwoods wrong. After an eventful and violent few years at the academy in Loguetown, Bennett passed almost everything with flying colours and graduated to become a petty officer in the nearby marine force. Shortly after his graduation, there was an unusual and somewhat expensive kerfuffle involving six or so lesser marine vessels at an annual training seminar. Bennett’s supervising lieutenant had been asleep at the helm and was in serious trouble; several officers’ jobs were on the line if the top brass found out. Bennett took a leap of faith and initiated a plan. He’d discovered several loopholes in the ship maintenance report system and somehow managed to bury the more delicate details of the incident. After Bennett informed the officers, they showed their gratitude by delicately and subtly promoting the young officer to the rank of ensign, swearing never to speak of the incident again. Present day, Bennett still hasn’t seen real combat yet and has requested to be moved as far away from the officers responsible for the seminar incident in order to start a new and hopefully successful life as an ensign. Abilities and Possessions Combat: Bennett tries his best to fight in the manner taught at Loguetown marine academy a style bearing some resemblance to modern kendo. Each trainee marine was taught to aim for their opponent's centre of mass, or next best thing whilst defending themselves. As Bennett’s not really seen much true action outside of academy brawls and training, he’s not entirely sure how he’d react to a full blown battle but he feels fairly confident. Weaponry: A standard marine Iron Katana Items: ~ Saint Drunk's Bourbon Hunting Bottle: A magical bottle of bourbon with a very fancy shape that makes it look expensive. Tastes just like regular bourbon and aside from the label having some guy that looks a lot like Egoraptor on it, there is no real defining weird thing about it. However once per sl, any character drinking from this will get drunk off their ass no matter the quantity they drank. No exceptions, even Zoro and Nami would get drunk off this stuff. The drunken spree lasts at least for 4 posts. The bottle magically manages to refill itself between sl's. Beli: 500,000 Upkeep:0 SD Earned: 2 Stat Points: 34 SD Remaining:0 Stats:

★ Combat could use a little bit more description, but it's not too big of a deal. ★ Upkeep is 0. Other than that, I'm content with the application. Topic is flagged for approval. |
