Finally setting out from Dawn Island, East Blue, Gabe decided to go visit an old friend in North Blue. "Back in North Blue huh?" Gabe thought to himself as he reached one of the docks. Gabe's friend's name is Paul Bellaire, a bounty hunter he met in Osula and worked with him to get rid of corrupted pirates there. They agreed to not fight each other until both had become strong enough to go to the Grandline and with that said their goodbye but Gabe wanted to meet Paul once more and he found out that Paul was working for Shiroi village as a bounty hunter. Having been to North blue before, Gabe knew what most of the island's were like including this one so he was cautious on the docks as he knew he may be attacked at anytime.

Strangely however, there were no attacks until Gabe reached further into the village. Two young men tried to tie him up quickly and then grab him but he quickly countered them, entangling them in their own ropes. "Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome to a guest." Gabe said with a smile. He knocked them both out and untied their ropes so that they wouldnt try anything until he had gone. Moving in further into the village, Gabe was ambushed by what seemed like the whole village. At this point he knew he could do nothing because of their number until his friend came up and saved him.

Paul told the other bounty hunters to stop and told them that Gabe was his friend but of course they argued that he was a pirate. Finally, convincing them by saying that Gabe has no bounty, Paul went and greeted Gabe and told him that he was surprised to see him. After being invited inside Paul's house, Gabe had a long talk with Paul about how things have been. Both telling each other about their adventures. After their adventure talks, Paul explained to Gabe that the island experienced some problems lately due to marines getting in the way of the islands. He told Gabe that the marines hid in their ships and as soon as they spotted pirates that had a bounty they attacked.

"They've been stealing our job and source of income. We requested that they stop but they said its to cut our losses and we cant do anything or they will put a bounty on us." said Paul with a worried expression. Gabe proposed that he help them out on this since he was a pirate and even if the marines spotted him, it wouldnt matter because he didnt care about a bounty. As expected, Paul refused because he did not want to involve Gabe in his problems but Gabe convinced him saying that he would do it even if Paul didnt support him which Paul knew to be true because of Gabe's stubborness.

After thinking for a while, Paul had no choice but to agree with the Gabe who was being extrememly stubborn. Some what excited about his adventure, Gabe sat down with Paul to think about plans to get rid of them marines. They also invited a few other bounty hunters in the village to help them out with the situation at hand. After thinking hard for the day, both, Gabe and Paul decided to give it a rest until the next day.

"Oi, Mera... y-you're really not going to come out today?"

"Nope!"

"But..." Charles Canally was having a bit of a conundrum. Stuck in the middle of town, he was a tad bit tired; Moreso than usual. The reason? The giant clay pot that he'd been dragging around all day. It wasn't like this was unusual; Ever since leaving Osula, he'd been dragging this large clay pot around, after all. Just, not for as long an amount of time as today, considering he'd been pulling it about since he got up that morning, without stopping. It was... heck, he was just one man! How was he supposed to keep pulling around a pot filled with water and, at the moment, a very upset mermaid all day!?

Said upset mermaid went by the name of Arella Arumaera. Ever since tric... err, convincing young, gullible Charles to leave Osula with her, she'd spent as long a time as she possibly could in that pot, as stepping out of it meant having to take on the 'disguise' of a human... something she didn't even slightly enjoy. It was much too tiresome to maintain those sad excuses of lower extremities they called 'legs' for long; She preferred to remain in her natural state for as long as physically possible. No matter how stressful that was for poor Charles.

"Can't we... can't we at least take a break?" Speaking of whom, Arella peaked her head out from inside the large pot. Surely enough, not only had Charles stopped in the middle of town, but he'd stopped a sweaty, burned-out mess in the middle of town. Arella sighed. "Sheesh, Charles. What sorta man are you supposed to be, that you can't even pull a pot of water around? So disappointing." At least he stopped away from the main streets, and just outside of a small inn. To tease him further, Arella reached a single, water-soaked hand out from within the pot and rustled the man's hair with it. "I guess you're more of a pretty boy in the end, though~" She remarked, a reply that made Charles blush as expected.

"H-hey, I'm not-- d-don't say mean things like that!" The young man protested, to Arella's predicted amusement. Well, she supposed there was only so long that she could remain in her natural form while not at sea, anywho. Thus, with a nod to herself, the mermaid slowly pulled herself up and out of her 'home', revealing herself to the world; a black and blue sarong and matching upper tie aside, she wore little else; not even shoes, which seemed a little obvious. Her outfit was soaked in water, which caused it to stick to skin slightly; Arella didn't mind it as much as simply having to take on a human form. Charles sighed in relief; Arella leaving the pot meant that he didn't have to carry her arou--

Plop!

Before he could react much more, his arms reached out instinctively to catch a suddenly flying Arella Arumaera, who had leaped into them. She was no clay pot, but still-- Why did he have to carry her everywhere!? "To the inn!" Arella childishly proclaimed, as Charles sighed and resigned to carrying her roughly 5 feet ahead, into the inn they'd stopped near.

The next day was just as useless as the first, both Paul and Gabe were unable to think up anything. "Why dont we give it a rest and go hangout at the bar today? Its not like the marines are going anywhere." said Paul with a tired expression. "Yeah, that sounds good actually" replied Gabe with a similar expression to Paul's. After this, both asked each other of events in their lives that took place after they parted ways the last time. Gabe told him about his return to his hometown with a few other things. Paul told Gabe about how he had visited Loguetown before visiting here. He also told Gabe that he had been close to the grandline as well.

Paul had a strong built, and his whole body was much larger than Gabe's. He wore extremely casual clothes. He wore outdoor pajamas, grey in colour and a grey shirt. He also wore slippers instead of shoes and was probably as strong or even stronger than Gabe. Paul and Gabe met when a man wanted to hire them to take care of thugs in Osula. The man stated that he was here on behaf of the mayor but that really didnt matter to them both. Aside from their clothing, Gabe and Paul thought a lot alike and even had similar ambitions as far as going to the Grandline is concerned though, Gabe wanted to find the One Piece and Paul wanted to catch one of the big shot pirates there.

At first, working together was tough for them but they got used to it in time. Paul also told Gabe that he happened to come upon this island on a chance and wasnt exactly invited by the bounty hunters to join them but after seeing his strength, they changed their minds. Paul wasnt very well known because he did things in a way that he wouldnt become popular with the pirates. Gabe and Paul, both dragging themselves to the bar because of being exausted now stopped talking, trying to save their energies.

Both entered the bar and went straight for the counter paying no mind to the surroundings. After getting their drinks and food, Paul suggested that Gabe stay at the inn nearby. He said being a pirate and living with bounty hunters wasnt exactly safe for him which was true, more or less. After parting ways, Paul headed for his 'dorm' and Gabe headed for the inn mentioned. Reaching the inn, Gabe saw a person carrying another person, a woman perhaps? Gabe went closer to get a better look.

"Why do I always end up carrying you...?"

"Are you still complaining, Charles? Need I remind you that you wouldn't even be here, without me?" Arella poked the young man's face childishly as she made her point... a relatively debatable, yet still quite valid point. Charles could only really claim himself to be in this situation thanks to a series of 'unfortunate' events brought upon him by none other than Arella herself, who seemed quite proud of having dragged him this far away from his hometown, in Osula. Gosh, they'd come such a long way... by Charle's standards, anyway. Then again, three steps out at sea was enough to get a reaction out of him.

"It almost sounds like you regret leaving home, y'know. Show some respect to your wise and savvy mentor! I'd totally carry you if you were my master."

"I didn't say-- I mean-- Y-you're not my... I feel like this will go nowhere..." He eventually gave in, as he always did. He really didn't have a reason to complain. As... 'eccentric' as Arella was, she had been looking after him since they'd left Osula. He wasn't a man of the world; He enjoyed finding new places, but he didn't have the mental capacity to adventure safely, and live off the land. Arella, despite her upbringing (or perhaps because of it), was easily able to do just that, and more, by using her head alone. How many times had they been able to afford food and lodging because of her quick wits, and even quicker hands? It was kind of scary to imagine having set off on this trip without her, Charles slowly began to realize, as the two looked around the inn.

It was a relatively nice place, as far as inns went. It wasn't amazing, but definitely no run-down shack. Charles could only imagine that lodging more than a night here would be very difficult on their budget, but Arella never set her sights on anything she didn't have at least some sort of plan to obtain. "...Mhm. This'll do nicely." The mermaid in human form nodded to herself, before motioning for Charles to sit her down. There were a few key elements in play within the inn that she'd already taken note of in those few seconds that gave her a nice idea of how she wanted to go about staying there. She took a single step forward...

...before suddenly falling to the ground, with an audible-enough thump on the wooden floor that anyone near enough would easily be capable of hearing. Including the innkeeper. Charles blinked, lost for all of three seconds, before his mind caught up (somewhat) to the situation and allowed him to react as such. "M-Mera!? Hey, are you alright!? What's wrong!?" Frantically, the young man dropped to his knees to collect the seemingly injured girl, who suddenly was at the brink of tears. "My foot! It hurts so much, I-- I think it's swollen!" His heart began to pound, his mind going into overdrive. How had this happened!? She only just stepped into the inn on her own feet a few seconds ago! He probably would have hyperventilated moments later... had a sudden, and quite discreet wink towards him from the mermaid not at least slightly clued him in on what was going on.

"Oh, crap, the floorboards must be coming a'loose again! Oh geez, is she alright!?" Over the counter top and towards the center of the inn's welcoming room came the presumed innkeeper, who looked pale with fear. One look at Arella was all it took to put the poor guy into hysterics as well. One look at the poor guy from Arella was all it took to confirm that her 'plan' was working nicely.

Guys could be such suckers, sometimes.

It seemed the two had gone inside the inn, it didnt matter much to Gabe since it wasnt his business but he was curious as to why this person was being carried but he was not a man who would interfere with other people just because of 'curiousity' and so he went in the inn, deciding to leave the two he saw outside alone. It seemed like the two people he had seen, had gone looking around the inn but Gabe didnt follow as he didnt want to bother them. Gabe could tell the inn was a comfortable one without looking around. He was smart so he could tell just by the type of clothes the innkeeper was wearing. The inkeeper was definetly well dressed, he wore a kimono which seemed expensive and the design on it looked good too.

His slippers werent usual slippers and also seemed rare. You can tell if a man is rich or poor by looking at his clothing, atleast that was true in this case. Gabe knew the that the inn would be satisfactory because if the innkeeper has money to buy such expensive thing, the inn would certainly be in good enough condition. "Good recommendation, Paul" he thought as he asked for a room. He had a short talk with the innkeeper, the innkeeper seemed like a dull man and that he wouldnt know much of how things work in the world. "A guy like this cant survive in a fast moving place like this, home to bounty hunters" he thought as he felt sorry for the man and had a sad expression.

"Is everything alright sir?", he said. "Oh yes, everything's alright", Gabe replied. Gabe showed a letter Paul gave him that earned him a discount. Paul knew the people here so it was easy to get a discount on the stay. Soon afterward, Gabe and the inkeeper heard a loud 'thump', much like someone falling to the ground. The keeper went running towards the sound and Gabe slowly and casually followed. A loud noise like someone falling? In a place where there is nothing to trip over? Nonsense, somethings wrong here, thought Gabe as he slowly neared the innkeeper who had a worried expression. It seemed that the two people he had seen earlier were also present there.

Gabe got a little closer and saw the woman's face. The innkeeper looked very worried, he was on the verge where if the woman said that she wanted to own him for a day, he wouldnt argue. "What a weak willed man" Gabe thought with a sigh. Gabe realized that the girl was clearly doing it on purpose. "You dont fall over nothing and the floor looks fine to me." thought Gabe. Gabe wouldve helped the man by revealing the woman's scheme but he stayed quite because concluded that this man would make the same mistake again. "Some people are just idiots, and guys are even beyond that, specially when it comes to women" Gabe thought. "I think I lost my watch but there seems to be NOTHING ON THE GROUND!" Gabe said to give the inkeeper a hint but the innkeeper seemed to have not realized. Gabe moved towards his room with a sigh.

"Wow, it sure was nice of that innkeeper to let us stay for free, tonight!"

Arella rolled her eyes. She'd been propped rather nicely up into a comfortable position on their bed, with her 'injured' leg resting high on about three pillows. A joint effort by Charles and the innkeeper had ensured she'd be nice and comfortable for the rest of the night; It was a surprise that Charles' acting managed to keep the man fooled for as long as it did. The boy truly was terrible at just about everything. Said 'boy' was currently investigating their hotel room with great interest. Why wouldn't he, at that? He'd not stayed in an inn since leaving Osula, admittedly. Typically, they slept near shorelines and lakesides; Anywhere that Arella could actually get out of her cramped pot, and sleep naturally. Charles never seemed to mind much, but it was obvious that this was more or less his sort of thing.

"The room is a nice, warm temperature, and the carpet is really nice! The decor isn't bad either! Wow, this is so amazing!"

"Sheesh, Charles; There's no one around, and you're still embarrassing me!" Arella chided the young man, while rubbing her temples. She was quite irritable at the moment; She disliked having to maintain a human form, and now she was more or less stuck in one for the night. What was worse was the fact that she was nowhere near any water, and while that wasn't a terrible issue now, it was going to mean waking up to one heck of a headache in the morning. Oh well, she supposed that having everything her way was just a sliiiight bit unrealistic. Just a slight bit.

Charles turned back to the clearly upset Arella with a bit of concern to his face. He was a bumbling, oblivious fool at times, but he wasn't blatantly stupid. He knew the combined effect that being out of water and in a human form had on Arella; He'd seen it many times before. "Hey... are you okay? Are your legs bothering you again?" He asked, to which Arella pouted rather childishly; An adequate 'yes'. "Beyond that, this entire trip has turned out to be a huge bust. The only real treasure these folks have are their 'manners'. If you'd call it that." She muttered, crossing her arms. Charles, sensing that the time for celebration was not now, came and sat next to the mermaid on the bed. He statement had perplexed him, and it was visibly notable.

"But I thought you said that these Islands were a treasure magnet? I thought you said that was why we were supposed to be wary of pirates out here--"

Arella silenced the man with a single finger to his lips. "How many pirates have you seen since we came through these islands, Charles? Think about it. Remember that group of hunters we came past in the last island? How many people that look like that have you seen since we came here? How many prisons? How many marines?" Arella's words were clearly not making much of an impression on the man, who struggled to think that far back. "...Well... there weren't really many pirate ship flags on the docks... But that doesn't make sense. Why would people say this is a pirate haven, if it's not?" The mermaid frowned, and looked down at her 'injured' leg.

"...Likely because that's the easiest way to draw a sheep to the slaughter..." Arella muttered under her breath, to Charles' confusion.

This is a real pain, I didnt expect to be dealing with marines and bounty hunters at the same time thought Gabe as he got ready to sleep. It wasnt as though he was worried, it was only that he was lazy. One of the few things that Paul and Gabe had that wasnt common was lazyness, Gabe is an extremely lazy person where Paul is a hard working man. As Gabe prepared to sleep he thought about that cheap but intelligent girl and that boy he saw earlier in the day. "They sure were some strange people" Gabe thought to himself but then realized he was equally if not stranger then them.

"What kind of idiot pirate works with bounty hunters to defeat marines. This is definetly a double edged sword but in this case both thd edges are pointed towards me" thought Gabe as he doubted his decision. Deciding that it was the right decision, Gabe went to sleep. The morning was just awful for him because to him the night was short, not literally but since there was work to be done it seemed short. Gabe started to get ready for another day of planning with Paul and then met up with him outside the inn as they had planned. "How was your night, Paul? asked Gabe. "It was too short" answered Paul.

This was not the answer Gabe had expected because Paul isnt one to complain about such things but in his case it was the literal meaning as Paul explained he was up most of the night thinking of a plan, naturally that would mean less sleep. Paul had finally come up with a solid plan and now preparations had to be made to put it into motion. "I finally get to move around, I was getting tired of all that planning" thought Gabe. Both of them had now reached the place where a few bounty hunters were gathered. "Well, how are the preparations going?" asked Paul who heard an "ok" from one of the bounty hunters.

It had seemed that Paul had already put his plan into action. "So what do I do Paul?" asked Gabe with excitement. "Nothing for now, why dont you go and explore the city?" replied Paul who got a dull "Alright..." from Gabe. "Darn, I was hoping to do something" thought Gabe as he headed back to the town. For some reason, Gabe really wanted to get some action, it wasnt how he usually was. "Maybe its because its marines that im going to fight." he thought, finally reaching the town.

"I dont really feel like looking around. Might as well head back to the inn." thought Gabe as he walked towards the inn. He spent the day in boredom and finally went to sleep. The next day, Gabe rushed towards the location where Paul was at. Arriving there, Paul tells him that its finally time for action and so they hop on a small boat and head towards the marine ship stealing all the bounties. Paul explains the plan, the plan was for the bounty hunters to get on small ships and attack from all sides at once. The bounty hunters were to wear masks while Gabe was to go without one.

They finally arrive and the first stage of the plan goes successfully. Surrounding the ship, the bounty hunters and Gabe quickly overwhelm the marine forces. The next stage of the plan was to sink the ship and so they did by using fire and a little bit of gunpowder. They threw the marines outside the ship and into the water and then sank the ship. After finally returning to the island they celebrated their victory and Gabe finally set out for his next journey with a "Good bye and take care towards Paul."
