I am making a proposition that the Gura Gura no mi be allowed as a devil fruit; a T1 Paramecia, to which to my knowledge, none exist as of yet.

Before you "LolNo" me, hear me out.

The description of the fruit essentially makes the user into a Quake man, with the theme being Earthquakes. The description is only shallow enough to insist that it gives the user the ability to create vibrations. But that's it! What we see in Whitebeard is essentially this power taken to extremes. In other words, people getting the fruit don't just start out able to create tsunami or destroy islands. It would be easily adaptable to the sites stats/fortune system.

Of course you have to have the seven traits to use it in the first place, but the ability to do things on the scale of white beard would require upwards of 300+ strength and all kind of other ridiculous attributes. This powerful ability would also be expensive at 7 traits cost. That being said, at that level, the user of shockwaves for ranged physical attacks are probably very common, and thus the quake fruit advantages are only a notch further than what people are probably already capable of! When we scale the fruit down from Yonko level to the level of feats that people are capable of on this site currently, it's easy to see that it's not all that 'over powered'. (like how Luffy's current ability with the Gomu is far greater now than what someone could accomplish with it when they first get it here on the site).

Just like having all of the uber powerful Logia around that belong to figure head characters like the Admirals, having whitebeards fruit as a figurehead, albeit and expensive one, would give just a hint more charm to the one piece feel of the site. Just for people to see the fruit and say "Hey, one day I may be able to be like white beard, that shits cool yo."

What'dya say!?

No.

I've argued for this same thing before with other staff members (though it was more out of spite then actually caring) and I failed miserably.

To give an actual reason why: We don't scale fruits down to make them PC acceptable

So yeah. No.

Gura is too powerful plain and simple, in canon characters don't do things cause the author limits them. Players would go about accidentally flipping islands, and tidalwaving marine bases. No.

to put it into perspective leanders quake techs would be about rank 14 gura techs. Without much work at all you could destroy the world

As you said yourself, there are no allowed, PC usable T1 Paramecia yet. There is a very good reason for that, if you stop and think about it. Hell, all of the banned fruits in and of themselves tie into that. They have a certain fundamental aspect about them that makes them too strong and/or allow PCs to do shit that's not the best idea in a RP setting.

Gura is in the same category. Fruits don't scale with stats and Fortune and rank and all that jazz, contrary to popular belief. They operate and are tiered (usually) on base potential. As in, what the fruit can inherently do from the get go. Like a Rank 1-4 type of a thing. And what is that? Earthquakes. Everywhere. Shockwaves/vibrations, both of which are much more grandiose and serious than you're gauging them based on your idealism that fruits scale in that sense. But already at its base, it's earthquakes. That's bad written all over it.

It's a similar case with Nikyu. It's a T1 Paramecia, banned of course, that has been proposed to be unbanned for similar reasons. What does Nikyu do? It pushes shit. Not specifically air or people or anything like that. It has an abstract potential of pushing anything. You can't go and say, "Oh, you can only push grass at Rank 4." Because that's not how it works. If you do, you're changing the fruit itself, which isn't allowed on this site. At base potential, Nikyu can push out pain, create compact explosions, etc etc. With rank, you can probably increase the depth and insanity of those things, but at its base, it's already doing lolsome shit. And it basically pushes things out at or near lightspeed. I think that is enough said.

There are 2 main reasons why most banned DFs are banned.

1. The ability to either partially or completely take control of other characters.

2. The ability to destroy islands.

The first category covers things like the Kage Kage no Mi, the Horu Horu no Mi, and any sort of puppetmaster DF like Doflamingo's fruit (by this point, I'm pretty sure he has one). These fruits' powers revolve around giving you god-modish control over other people's characters, which is not okay in an RP setting.

The second category is where fruits like the Gura Gura no Mi and the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi fall. Being able to destroy an island may sound like a rather broadly-defined issue, but really its not. There are many allowed fruits that would lets you do incredibly destructive things to an island. You could burn an island, freeze it, rain lightening down upon it, blow it up, etc. There are any number of ways to raze an island to the ground. But none can completely destroy the land. The Gura can crack an island into pieces and sink it below the waves with just a few swings of the fist. Even at rank 44, "where all you dreams come true", that is not okay. Imagine if there were other characters on the island, they'd be screwed. Or imagine if someone decided to go through Grand Line destroying island after island so that people would be unable to follow using the log pose. The Fuwa's ability to raise islands into the sky, turing them into sky islands, then drop them back down to the sea below, thus destroying them, or moving them to new locations... Thats a big no-no.

There are a couple of banned fruits that don't fit into either of these categories, and are banned for other reasons. But if a fruit is capable of doing either of these things, you can bet your bottom dollar that it'll be banned.

In my opinon there is 1 simple reason why its band, it has the ability to destory the world even split the whole planit in half with enough power behind it, so yeah, like the others say, its too over powerd, there is a reason why people feard it in the show.

Haha don't worry. I get it! I was thinking from the stand point of view that Whitebeard made the fruit powerful in the same way that Luffy made the Gomu powerful. At it's base, the ability to vibrate itself isn't incredible, but Whitebeard with 300+ strength could wreck shop with it. Another person with 20 strength or whatever couldn't blow away entire buildings.

But I'm getting the idea that people agree that the Gura Gura can do those crazy earth shattering feats at it's base, which makes it understandably banned. No biggy! Just a learning curve.

@Supermaou- Um... No. Whitebeard was never shown to be able to do anything like splitting the planet in half, and he was in a fight to the death, so it seems pretty certain that we saw him use his full strength. And you sure as hell couldn't do that here. Even if you had, like, 1,000 earned SD, you could not split the planet in half... That's just ridiculous. We don't ban fruits for being "overpowered" we ban them due to the nature of their powers. I mean, hell, most of the logias would be banned like the magma, light, ice, etc. if we banned for being overpowered.

@Undercover- I'm glad to see that you understand our position... But you still seem a little confused as to how it works. Like we said before, DFs don't scale with a character's strength. If you had 32 SD, and were somehow able to legally get the Gura, then at that level you would be able to do everything that Whitebeard did. It doesn't matter if you have 7 strength or 300 strength, Devil Fruits are magic, they simply do what they do. The only limiting factor is technique rank and points.

Think about it like this: From the moment Luffy ate the Gomu, as a tiny little kid, he had the ability to use all of his techniques. Gomu Gattling, Gear Second, Gear Third, he could have used them all. The only reason why he didn't is because he hadn't thought of them yet. He still needed time, battle experience, and practice to create the techniques. The point is, his body had the capability to perform the techniques, even back then, despite his laughable strength and speed and other stats.

With the exception of zoans, whose buffs increase as the rank of their transformation techniques is increased, DFs do not get stronger as the character gets stronger. They stay the same, from beginning to end. You'r characters just learn more creative ways to use the powers as they grow.

actually Yuan supermau is correct, wb could destroy the world, the fleet admiral even said so. Everything in the world has a point of vibration before it shatters, and yes that does indeed mean even the earth. Thats why Whitebeard was called the strongest man in the world rather than Kaidou who is the strongest person physically because Whitebeard while his physical strength was really good his only really notable feature was his ability to take a lot of damage if it weren't for gura he'd be a pretty average nw pirate.

Yuan again you explained it badly, you can't use gear 3rd and gear 2nd from the start. All of that is very complex stuff, very very complex. In fact no one but Luffy probably would have ever thought of gear 2nd as its a extremely smart and complex use of gomu. The higher the rank of your tech the more complex you're able to make things even to an abstract level such as what gear 2nd is to an extent. So yes dfs do to a certain level scale with rank but thats it. Think of it like with the paw fruit at rank 4 you can push away peope to send them flying to another island, you can push the air to create shock waves, but you can't push away emotions, senses, or other abstract stuff without a much higher rank to back it up. I understand where you were coming from and probably what you meant but yeah didn't want people confused into thinking gear 2nd was now possible from the start if they trained.

No, he actually hit the hammer on the nail Dark. That's the age old way Devil Fruits worked for the most part. He meant, you can theoretically use all of the things a fruit can do off the bat in terms of the series. It's just a matter of battle experience, imagination, among other factors where you use it in different ways. Obviously, you can't do that in terms of this RP, however. Which is where Fortune comes, wherein the more complex stuff done requires higher rank technique, aka Gear 2nd and Gear 3rd. Being the way those two work, they could have very well been done off the bat. But they involve "complex" mechanics or some other bullshit explanation, which translates to their respective high ranks in the context of OPRP.
