If you double post, you basically take up double space, with the signatures and avatars and all that. It's really annoying having to scroll down pages of just signatures, which is also the reason most forums have restrictions on how lobg signatures can be, as well as the size of the pictures in it.
If every signature just had a spoiler, it'd be a lot simpler.

Is soloing completely not allowed or is there some sort of restriction like lower gains or something?

lower gains pretty much, frowned upon so gains are reduced as punishment for it/

You can solo, but you're going to get a deduction as a result. It's our way of saying "go find a rp partner or narrator"

But yeah, several people (myself included) have done it before, it's just not regularly done because it's frowned upon

Pfft haters v.v lol and also how much of a deduction is gonna be like, "You were going to recieve 25 SD but just because you soloed, you get 1" or is it going depend on how good the SL was?

I've never been a fan of letting people know deduct percentages. But I will tell you that it is a lot more than 1/25 th, and given it's a percentage to begin with, it will have more of an effect the more you actually solo in that sl.

Also keep in mind solo deducts can be applied in otherwise non solo sls for excessive double posting.

If you are done the whole story, are you supposed to put the solo in one post or still separate if its like 3000 words? I thought i'd try a solo and im almost done so just wondering what the layout should be
Edit: Nevermind, I will do it like a normal SL.

Sorry for the double post but thats part of what my question is. I have asked before about double posting but people say edit instead of double post, why is that? I mean if you edit something, the system doesnt show on the OPRP homepage that you have posted something new on that thread thus sometimes you overlook it so my question/suggestion(I guess?) would be why isnt there as system that tells you who edited their post last in a thread so it makes double posting less and life easier?

Age-old forum etiquette.

I don't really mind it myself, but there are people who do or some reason. I can see it being a bad thing on forums where post count actually matters for like points or something.

When we say too edit instead of double post, it generally applies to active threads that are currently being looked at. Sometimes as ya know in this case, the dates will be Feb 13 to feb 20th, in that case go ahead and double post. It will just generally be better in the eyes of most that if at all it makes sense, go and edit. Often in the case of double posting, ideas are incomplete, or just not present at all and it ends up just being spam, hence distaste of it. If you can make the posts "good", and time frame is over a few hours, or sometimes even a day, go ahead and double post. Of course that just refers to sections outside of the RP which has its own etiquette.

Nec pretty much covered it. Just keep the following things in mind if you're trying to decide what to do:

- Is there a reason you need to double post rather than just edit? Is it an announcement on the crew page and you want to make sure your crew members to see it?

- How is going to be viewed? Is it something new to add to the conversation or topic at hand, or is it just "lolbump look at my app"?

Just think it through and most of the time if you have the right reasons for one over the other, nobody can really tell you otherwise.

@ShadowEx:

As a guy familiar with how computers work, i can tell you that a double post costs double when it comes to resources. And as somebody said before, it also makes your signature appear twice instead of once, so it makes the topic more crowded to the eye, but generally in Forums, when the first post is old, double posting is Ok because people won't check the topic if it's not updated with a new post.
