But remember this discount/bonus ONLY applies to your PRIMARY profession.
He has discount traits for both professions, and you get access to materials as a carpenter and smith regardless of secondary or primary profession, so it really doesn't matter.

Secondary professions get "basic benefits" of professions.

The only thing that a primary profession gets extra is the italicized bonus at the end of the profession description. Otherwise, both primary and secondary professions receive the exact same benefits.

Only the Primary Profession gets the bonus, so please remove "Carpenters allow the crew to waive their ship maintenance costs. They will also get a 10% discount on any ships or ship upgrades that they buy" from Carpenter.

That was problem in my character app

Do note that these materials still need to be approved and will likely be pricey as hell even with discounts. Basic seastone is 40 million, imagine what an alloy of that would be.

If a material is within bounds and you have the sufficient funds, smiths can create a lot of fun things. Carpenters are mostly there for whale class ships with a lot of fanciness to them and various other things. Creating a ship like the Thousand Sunny or Whitebeard's Moby Dick has a carpenter requirement for instance.

That aside, traits override profession bonuses anyway. Having a trait with a discount and a profession with a discount, only the highest % counts.
