Primary:

~Inventor
An inventor is a man or woman with knowledge in how various mechanical devices work. They have good insight in how blueprints work, and can upgrade weapons, build explosives and battle engines if they have enough materials. Inventors don’t need to pay upkeep for their gadgets that they use in battle. They will also get a 20% discount on any technological upgrades they make to their own weapons. Bring it up with a moderator when upgrading to see if the discount applies.

Secondary:

~Scientist
A scientist is a different name for those primarily interested in chemistry, the making of explosions and poisons, gas or the like. They get primarily the same basic mathematical skills as the Inventor, and a lot of knowledge about various materials.

~Marksman
The profession of Marksman provides sound experience and insight in calculating range, distance and wind elements and their impact on the path of a projectile. It is a general trait that applies to guns, slingshots, cannons, rifles and the like. People without this profession will have little to no luck in firing cannonballs where they are supposed to go under normal battle conditions.

~Doctor
A Doctor, on a ship or otherwise, gains large medical knowledge. They also get various other related knowledge in terms of poisons, nutrients, animals, anatomy and certain history. Suturing and cleaning wounds, making bandages out of various materials and preparing drugs, is all part of a Doctor's job. Doctors are the only ones capable of healing serious injuries on the crew.

Physical Appearance
Height: 180 cm (6”)

Weight: 80 kg

Hair: Messy, he hasn’t washed in a while. His hair is raven black with
stripes of a deep shade of red. If he would ever comb his hair, it would just reach his shoulder. however, his hair is almost like a morning star, with stripes of hair standing up from everywhere. The typical hairstyle of a mad scientist.

Eyes: His eyes are a dark green colour. He has perfected the “evil eye” and uses it frequently. The eyebrows are black and small.

Clothing/Accessories: His primary outfit is a labcoat, the same deep red as his hair. It is made from sturdy, but not boiled, leather. It has patches from a long time of wear. He also has a pair of safety goggles, with a nerd wrap to prevent him from losing them.
Apart from that, he wears a black shirt and black trousers, as well as a pair of lether boots.

General Appearance: John is neither long nor short. At first look, he is one of those puny laboratory guys with no kind of muscle at all, but John is surprisingly fit. Especially his arms and hands are quite strong. Of course, he is more brain than brawn. His face and most of his body is hardened after a tough life at sea, and one would not easily say that he is attractive. He always smiles, but it’s not a happy smile, it’s more of a “hello I’m crazy” smile. even though the smile itself isn’t the fanciest, his teeth are really white and straight. His nose is pointy and small, but with rather wide nostrils. His small head sits on top of a long neck, so to hide his rather ostrich-like appearance his always wears a scarf. The sahpe of his head is oval and thin, while being quite tall.

John is very long-limbed, he has very long arms and legs compared to his body. He also has very big hands and feet. While this does affect his appearance negatively, john only sees it as an advantage. In fact, he couldn't care less what other people thinks of him.

The Character

Personality: As much as John is a cackling maniac, he is also a genius and a loyal friend. He refuses to leave anyone behind, he doesn’t want to have the blame for one more death. At least of his friends.
His enemies, however, he can kill without a flinch. Yes, he’s a bit evil, and just a tiny bit sadistic. But mostly he just sees them as a threat and therefore he eliminates them. He is not one who makes bonds easily. If he get’s a mission, he will complete it. No diddly-daddlin’. The few friends he has however, he makes a really strong bond with.

Also, he never trusts anyone. This, of course, only appeals to people he hasn't known for a long while. He also, strangely, is not attracted to girls. He is not a homosexual, he is rather an asexual person. John simply doesn't feel the urge to reproduce himself.

Hometown: Nilmus City, capital of Nilmus island in South Blue.

History: As a child, John was raised by two loving parents, Klaus and Margaret Ceasar. He was born in one of the richest part of the city “Nilmus city”, the capital city on the small isle Nilmus. His father was a very successful professor and the greatest scientist on the island. His mother was a doctor, also very successful. Of course, the pressure on John was enormous, especially from his dad.

Just after his tenth birthday, Klaus decided that his son should go to study at the maester Osmund, who lived on the island next to Nilmus, called Kilnara. Osmund was, just like Klaus, a great inventor and scientist. In fact, he was even greater then Klaus, but this was probably though to Osmund being 70 and Klaus being 40. He and Klaus were still good friends, and Osmund gladly accepted John as his apprentice.

After just a month’s notice, John went aboard the ship “Garden of eden” (which was Osmund’s own) and met his maester for the first time. As it turned out, Osmund was a really good guy. Even though John’s mother and father always had cared for him, and always loved him, theres was always the pressure of never disappointing. And they were not light on the critic with Osmund, all this was gone. On the short two day trip between Nilmus and Kilnara, John learned more about Osmund than he had ever learned about his parentes, and the became good friends, despite the big age gap.

Needless to say, John rapidly became a brilliant professor, even surpassing Osmund on some things. John was specifically interested in fire. He also became very interested in the pratice of guns, when he realised that he could create both his own wepons as well as ammunition. After some time experimenting in his own room, with all sorts of liquids and other inventions, Osmund let him be alone in the big laboratory. The big laboratory was Osmund’s private and contained all the stuff you could ever had wanted, if you were a fifteen-year old curios genius who liked to play with fire.

Unfortunately, disaster struck. While experimenting on a new kind of liquid, together with his now called uncle, the liquid came in contact with an explosion. The explosion resulted in Osmunds death and the destruction of his house and home, while John being exiled, thought to have planned the whole thing. John fled using Osmund’s ship, and has since then lived on the sea. The accident has made a permanent mark in John’s psyche and not a day goes by with him not thinking about Osmund.


Abilities and Possessions
Combat: John favorises mid to long range combat, but unlike other characters he is not afraid of going up close and start to hit people really hard. Although his strength is low, so he still prefers the use of guns.

Weaponry: A big iron gun, creation of his own, with a range of about 50 metres (150”). It's quite heavy, so hitting someone in the head with either the pipe or the handle would easily knock a normal man unconscious. He uses big bullets to fit the pipe of his gun, which has a diameter of about 5 cm. He only uses ammo which he has created himself, since he has a bit of hybris when it comes to making stuff. He just thinks that he can do a lot better at building almost anything than anybody else. He carries theese ammo around in pockets inside his labcoat, one for the mini-bombs and one for the shrapnelbullets. He has 5 each of this kind, although he can create more during an SL.

Traits:

Beast Handler (1 Trait) - Characters with this trait have a natural affinity for getting along with animals. Wild animals tend to behave either neutrally or friendly towards the character, unless they are very strongly aggressive. These animals, with proper approach and care, may be made to be merely distrustful and may sometimes refrain from attacking. The user also gains one NPC pet, who may possess humanlike intelligence, behaves as a crew NPC and is controlled by the player of the main character.

Jack of All Trades (1 Trait) – The character is able to master multiple skills, and has become adept at a number of things. This character gains two additional secondary professions. A character may not have Weapons Specialist, Marksman and Martial Artist.

Mad Scientist (1 Trait) – The epitome of madness. Cackling and gleeful hand-rubbing is a favourite pastime of this character, and every time they finish an experiment, there are obligatory flashes of lightning. The mad scientist has the ability to make one major biological modification to themselves and any NPCs the control.

In this special case, John has used his skills as a mad scientist to transform the skin of his monkey, Short john, to a tough leather-type hide. Shorty gains immunity to heat-based attacks similar to having an iron body. Any heat-based attack that wouldn’t damage iron won’t harm him. John is planning on doing the same to his own body, but he decided he needed more research.

Fate of the Strong (1 Trait) - By placing traits in Fated, you lock them until the next time you earn a trait. You may put as many traits as you have into fated. In the meantime, you get a temporary boost of [# of traits in fated, multiplied by 3] to your strength stat.

Description: John loads his gun with special small bombs (creations of his own) and fires at a target. The bombs explode on impact, causing damage aswell as staggering weak enemies. The enemies could be a ship or just a strong guy. If the object which is targeted is easily flammable, it has a chance to catch fire.

Ka-boom! (4)
Type: Offensive
Range: Up to 30 m
Stats: N/A
Description: John loads his gun with an other creation, the shrapnel bullets and fires at point blanc range.

Firstly your professions, you need to copy and past the profession descriptions, you secondaries don't get the italicized bonuses so remove them when you add the profession descriptions.

As to your weapons review this topic. You can only start with one shot pistols, and your specials shots need to be techniques not described in your weapons section.

I'd suggest you take Marksmen as your primary, as the bonus is the best imo. But always up to you.

Get all this fixed up then i'll come back to you.

The being impervious to fire thing on your monkey is a no. It's far too strong for what mad scientist provides, though you could probably do it with technique scaling on the monkey's profile.

On a similar note, you need a separate character profile for the monkey.

You do need an affiliation at the top. Bounty Hunter, Pirate, Marine or Other. You have threat as your notoriety type, so you are probably Bounty Hunter or Other.

For your weapons, you call them 'big guns'. If they are 2 handed guns, or are heavy enough to be considered 2 handed weapons, then you only get one of them for free, the other has to be paid for. You say they are heavy enough to knock a man out, so I'm assuming they are quite large.

For your primary profession, you need to italicize the bonus.

Edited. The gun's were supposed to be one-handed, but that may have been a bit OP. Also, I changed the description on my Mad scientist perk. I think this should be ok, since both Smiths and Chefs has a perk like this. Maybe I just overdid it in my last explanation. After all, it is a MAJOR biological change.

I will make a template for shorty soon, but I need a bit more time.

What k1ng meant was to put Bounty Hunter right after it says Affiliation. Like this:

Affiliation: Bounty Hunter
Threat: 0

Combat needs to be more detailed. Is he aggressive with his attacks? Does he try to hide behind objects and shoot behind cover? Just "mid-range" isn't good enough.

Just for clarification, right now he is wearing only a labcoat and goggles, is that all you want him to wear? If not please describe his other clothes and footwear.

In "Fire in the Hole" what do these small bombs do? Do they just catch things on fire or do they explode?

Does he use regular bullets as well as explosives? If yes, please put Upkeep at 10,000 beli.

The spoiler in the middle of your traits interrupted your font. Fix that, if you'd like.

✘ For a character with marksman as his secondary profession, I can't seem to find any mention of him practicing marksmanship/learning it anywhere. Though it's not the biggest deal, I'd preferably like to see something just to further understand.

✘ Remember that with an iron gun, your bullets will also be iron.

✘ Fire in the Hole's range is unnecessary. The distance of the throw is determined by your character's strength.

✘ Note that Fire in the Hole's damage won't be very effective. It will be equivalent to something like an M80 (firecracker). Also, the radius of the explosion will be approximately 2 meters.

✘ The range on 'Ka Boom!' will be the same as the previous technique.

✘ 'Ka Boom!' seems more of an area of effect technique rather than a singular target as it has the potential for multiple people to see its light. I'd say -1 accuracy for its de-buff. Range is same as previous technique as well.

✘ I noticed that both 'Fire in the Hole' and 'Ka Boom!' seem more like inventor techniques rather than scientist techniques. If you have some way of making it seem like a scientist technique, I'd suggest you put it down otherwise I'm going to have to apply an upkeep to them.

✘ Your inventions also need to be listed down in your weaponry. List the names of the inventions/bombs and list its quantity. (5 of Fire in the Hole and 5 of Ka Boom per storyline, can be recharged if the character creates more during it).

✘ Iron bullets have an upkeep of 50,000.

If the two techniques aren't scientific creations, they will both have an upkeep of 50,000, leading your total upkeep to be 150,000.

Edited some things, primarily his history and weaponry. Also, he only uses ammo he has created himself as explained in the weaponry section.

Both the techniques are ment to be scientific, but if you'd rather clasify them as invetion techniques I could just change my primary proffesion to inventor.

The font does bother me, but I can't figure out how to fix it.
