Maybe Akemi paid just a bit too much attention to what Mr Akame but still, she didn’t get how Danielle managed to confuse shadows and rocks too well, very much odd kinda. Still, as much as she was a bit curious about how she would go about wearing her shadow, Akemi found it in everyone’s best interests to make sure that things got cleared up before she decided to go running about naked in the shade or something along those lines. Leon seemed to be working along a similar vein of making sure Danielle got things in the right order but given how Dan tended not to listen to him…. “I think that you’re supposed to wear the rocks Danielle….” And that was about as much as she could say while was close to her given that she was still running and had no desire to be shouting about the place. Or more accurately she couldn’t throw her voice properly while devoting effort to running like this yet, something else to work on. She waited until she got a bit closer to Danielle again before continuing. “And please wear your other clothes as well…..” In the midst of this she did notice that Mr Akame had gone again but then he did say that he needed to scout out some more of the island to make sure nothing too dangerous was close by and given that this was appearing to be some manner of prehistoric island, there were likely to be many dangers around in the order of gigantic ancient creatures that would see them as snacks no doubt. Still, if anyone here was going to be a dinosaur slayer, it would be the awesome wolfy knight. And now Akemi was starting to lose focus on what she should be doing but at least running was something that could be done on autopilot. If any predatory dino came charging in she had no doubts that he’d show up to cut it down to size with that halberd of his, then probably come up to her, with his noble barking speech to sweep her off her feet, she could hear it now….. She nearly tripped over her feet as it registered to her that Mr Akame really was back and talking to her and that she’d nearly gone and run into him. Doing her best to ignore the growing heat in her face, she jogged over to his halberd, hefting the large weapon with a bit more ease now that she had experience with its weight. Her journey back to the large fuzzy wolf was considerably faster; she never could get tired of getting to ride on him. She did recall to keep that seastone portion away from his body though. As soon as she was seated properly and ready to go, Mr Akame took off and Akemi once again was wrapped up in the rush and thrill of travelling at high speeds through the prehistoric jungle, catching the colourful array of plants and animal as well as – well that looked a bit dangerous. She gigantic looking dinosaur with a long neck, if she remembered correctly that kind of dino was more or less a herbivore and wouldn’t see them as edible but still, elephants didn’t eat meat either and those guys were plenty dangerous to everyone significantly smaller than them. |

Leon sighed as he continued his laps, mostly at the unbelievable stupidity of what Dan had said regarding her interpretation of the training. He still had a hard time figuring out whether or not the girl actually meant what she said, or if she was being a bit silly to lighten the mood and make everyone laugh. But then again, she acted like that all the time or at least all the time Leon was nearby. It was hard to imagine her keeping up a dumb act constantly and without rest, since it would easily turn other people insane or make them burst from frustration. As a result he trusted that this was the true personality of the mermaid, allowing him to tease and annoy her as he pleased. However, another reason for his sigh was because of the fairly boring nature of his training. All the others seemed to get something exciting, like shadow fighting or personal training from the captain himself. Both Akemi and Hunter had opportunities to train directly with Zei, with Akemi especially being overseen and tutored. As a result of this, Leon felt quite left out. He was ordered to run laps around the clearing and tinker with his chemical vials, with the former sounding particularly boring. Though concocting new mixtures was all well and good, he could do it anytime and this made it a bit pointless to do as specific training. Still, he was willing to go along with it for now and so was continuing his laps obediently. Danielle on the other hand was the complete opposite of Leon, for she could see only rainbows and sparkles and all that jazz. The girl was positively thrilled at the concept of training and couldn't see any downside to it at all, such was the mindset of ridiculously upbeat people (or mermaids). The shadow fighting sounded so amazing! She wouldn't be fighting against just anybody, she would be fighting her shadow! Just the concept sounded amazingly fun and difficult, and even though logically it would be impossible to win against a shadow the girl still thought she would win. Although, she did have the initial impression that she would be wearing her shadow and fighting rocks, rather than the other way around. Though this might have sounded idiotic, the idea was in actual fact no harder to understand than fighting a shadow while wearing rocks. This was the reason for the strange sounding comment, as well as a bit of selective mishearing. It didn't take long for this to be cleared up, with Akemi wisely choosing to correct the mermaid before things went drastically wrong. "Wear the rocks? Are you sure?" Quizzed Danielle, glancing at a rock and back to her clothes as she tried to figure out how such a thing was possible. Of course, this compared to wearing your shadow was unthinkable. Wearing shadows made much more sense. After a short pause she then recalled the method used to wear the rocks, which cleared things up a bit in the insane mess she called her mind. Subsequently she decided to start as soon as possible, starting by taking off the clothes she was wearing so she could wear the rocks instead. But when Akemi offered another piece of advice, she chose to reconsider. "Oh, right. Gotcha." Thankfully she had only loosened the belt, and managed to tighten it up again before anything indecent was exposed for a change. |

It took Claire several weeks to recover from her injuries she sustained against the Chess Pirates. Though her wounds recovered in merely a week and a half she had decided to stay longer and spend the time burying those who had died and attending morning services held by the priests. After 3 weeks had passed she decided it was time for her to leave. It was likely that with their pride wounded such as it was Jack and his Chess Pirates would return to seek revenge for her. In that situation fighting in a populated area such as that would be far too dangerous. In addition her powers were quite unstable ad she had little experience with them. However she was in luck it seemed, the next island on the route she was on was completely uninhabited, it was an ancient island that time seemed to have forgotten, Little Garden. According to the Merchants it was a hostile and unbearable place unfit for humans. It was the perfect place to learn to control her abilities in seclusion. She learned that there were regular trade and merchant ship caravans that passed by the island. She arranged passage with one of the guilds so that when they got close they’d drop her off there and briefly swing by the island every 3-4 days to see if she needed to be picked up. Though they had warned her that the odds of her surviving more than a day on the island were slim to none she insisted upon her choice. However they accepted her proposal and the payment she gave them for their services and took her with them. After a day of sailing she was dropped off and the ship departed. She took note of the intense humidity that lingered in the air. She was warned that mange ancient beasts, insects and illnesses clung to this island forgotten by time. However if she could manage to survive here and master herself and her new powers she knew she’d be ready to go to the world while wielding the unimaginable power of this devil’s power. She spent the first day or two scouting the area and acclimating herself to the heat and landscape. She noted the gigantic skull shaped mountains, the hourly volcanic eruptions, and took care to avoid the roaming beasts as much for their sake as hers. After 2 days her body had acclimated to the temperature and atmosphere and she was ready to begin training. First was her mind, she’d need absolute mental fortitude to control such destructive power. She spent a great deal of her time here in deep meditation. In her mind she pictured herself and the power within her as one. She started slow, focusing on creating simple glows. There was an occasion or two when she lost a bit of control and caused a few discharges which exploded and caused some damage to the landscape, however this had the added benefit of scaring away most of the more timid beasts in the area. She trained for 14 hours a day and slept the remaining 10 as best she could, the constant eruptions made it hard to get sleep but inside the skull mountains were many cave like crevasse in which she could take shelter and helped to muffle the sounds a bit. Her training regimen thus far was equal parts practicing her swordsmanship and form and controlling the light she could produce. She managed to improve her swordsmanship quite a bit thanks in no small part with the newly refurbished sword she had crafted for her on Cactus Island. After 4 days had passed she went to the coast to see the passing caravan. She sent them a message telling her she was fine and to check by in another 4 days on the next trip. She continued her daily regimen of practicing her swordsmanship and form and meditation while resting as much as possible and bathing every other day. She was used to washing clothes by hand and thankfully the island was uninhabited so she had no need to feel ashamed of her exposure when she washed her garments. She had picked up some extra changes of clothes, most o them rougher and cheap knowing full well they’d likely be ruined after she was finished her training. On her 7th day on the island she was in an open field meditating as per usual. However she felt that there was something different about the island. It felt… cold? Certainly an odd sensation given its hot and humid climate. More so the giant beasts which usually steered clear of her after an incident or two were moving around into territories that usually they avoided. It so happened that she heard the thundering footsteps of a gigantic bipedal beast growing near. It entered her field of vision and it glared at her after roaring ferociously. Claire stood up from her meditative position as it charged her and snapped it’s monstrously powerful jaws at her. She drew her sword and her body glowed and seemed to vanish as it bit down on her. He reappeared 5 meters way as glowing balls of light reformed into her. She had successfully managed to transform her whole body into light and warp as a beam of light. The dinosaur looked confused and roared as it charged her again. She sheathed her sword and decided to take this opportunity to practice evasion some more. The beast attacked relentlessly snapping its jaws at her as she leapt away just out of reach and evading its attack. I pursued her till she had her back nearly against a large rock. It attacked and she warped out of the way at the last second causing it to smash its head against the large boulder. She dusted her clothe off as the monster reeled and narrowed bloodshot eyes at her. Infuriated and its miniscule brain unable to comprehend the difference in strength and ability between them it attacked again. She started to draw her sword figuring she’d have to put it down if she wanted to resume her training in peace. |

The training program Zei had put before him was neither worse than he had expected now better, he had been expecting training of roughly this toughness, tough enough to improve you but not so tough that you end up despairing and give up. The assault course he was happy with as he could already do it and it would only get easier from here and the jabs and swinging of his spear he knew would only get easier as time went on and he gained the necessary strength and speed to do them faster and better. He took the stone-ended weapon, expecting it to be about as heavy as Zei's halberd, to his surprise it outweighed the halberd by a considerable amount, it was heavy enough that Hunters training with it would be harder than he thought. Beginning to spin the weapon he realised he could spin it at no great speed nor with any semblance of grace, spinning in a figure of eight pattern he found it slightly easier due to the fact that he could use its momentum to help him spin it easier and faster. The spear jabs would be a different matter as there wasn't a way he could adapt them to make them easier by using momentum to lessen the workload so he would just have to carry on with them and eventually as he got stronger they would be easier to do. As well as his laps with Leon he took it upon himself to complete at least 3 laps of the course per day, they would help him to adapt his techniques to find the easiest way to defeat the various objects and would be able to get through the course in quicker times and with less energy loss. This training to some people he knew would compoletely demoralise them, he had seen many at his home island fail their training before they even started it, he was determined to not become like these people which was what had compelled him to strive even further in his training and add in the assault course to help him improve even more. Yes his fatigue would probably end up being much worse than the other' but hopefully It would all be worth it in the end once the fruite of his training came to bear and he was much stronger than his current state. There was a glint of steel in his eyes as he joined Leon in his laps of the course, striving to complete the course as well as he could he took on the challenge and quickly caught up with the blonde tinkerer, from there he overtook the small boy and carried on in the first stage of his training, the first stage to becoming a stronger person, a better person, someone more suited to the bounty hunting life he had chosen for himself. |

Danielle, now past the misconceptions regarding the rocks she would be wearing as training weights, finally began wrapping the stones around her arms and waist. She was now fully set up for training, displaying her sense of accomplishment by putting her hands on her hips and raising her head in a proud manner, oblivious that Leon had been ready for some time already. "Alright! Let's get started!" She shouted, pumping her fist up into the air before jogging off to follow her companion around the clearing. The extra weight was certainly noticeable and was draining her already small reserves of stamina at an alarming rate even though she was only jogging, but nevertheless she was derermined to continue. The training she had been so looking forward to would unfortunately not last, as signalled by a deafening roar from somewhere in the jungle. After a moment of silence in which Dan and Leon looked at each other nervously, a large feline leaped out from the foliage at the other end of the clearing. It was much larger than a tiger or lion, closer in size to a bull, and resembled a sabre tooth. The beast growled menacingly as it eyed the two petrified trainees, almost as if it was deciding which one to devour first. It was undecided at first, but soon it caught a whiff of a smell not unlike the fish it very much liked to eat. This was of course coming from the mermaid, but there would be no harm in eating the human too. Suddenly the huge cat bounded forward, it's prey locked in sight. The pair immediately ran off in the opposite direction, an act ingrained into the genes of a fish such as Danielle. Their running was accompanied by a loud "Kyaaaaaaaaaaa!" coming from Leon, which only served to help the sabre tooth locate it's meal. The jungle had already enveloped the pursued to leave little chance of making it back. They would just have to hope that Zei would swoop in and help, or else they would have to take their chances of fighting it in another clearing they had just run into. The journey through the thick jungle, teeming with life was a much of a rush as always and despite the speeds they were moving at, she couldn’t resist the urge to try to take in as much as she could again, even while trying to keep her balance on Mr Akame; it wasn’t as if he was going too fast for her or anything but he couldn’t exactly charge in a straight path with all the gigantic trees in the way and she did have her hands occupied with holding up his spear. That and a few of the prehistoric animals were drawing her attention quite a bit – the novelty of meeting creature that were supposed to be quite extinct probably was never going to wear off, scary and dangerous that the majority of them were. And thus with all of her wonder and gazing about, it was practically inevitable that her lack of paying attention to the things that she really should would lead to an otherwise quite avoidable accident occurring. It was a simple enough affair too; she saw a butterfly that was bigger than head flittering about – quite quickly at that given that it was currently keeping up with Mr Akame a bit though she knew that he wasn’t going anywhere near his full speed – and its colours were so very mesmerizing that she had to reach out for it. Unfortunately for her, what she did end up grabbing wasn’t the butterfly at all; instead she’d gone and gotten her hand completely tangled up in a vine which was in itself strong enough to yank her light body right off of her wolfy knight! She dangled a couple of feet above the ground, suddenly without her protector now, Akemi was quite keenly aware of how many things she’d seen already that could easily gobble her up. Well she was all that worried though, if only because given Mr Akame’s usual attitude, as soon as he noticed that she was gone he’d come back for her….unless this happened to be the training he was talking about…..he did say it would be very difficult but to take care of herself in here?! No, she could do it, she wasn’t going to be a burden on anyone, she could pull her own weight and keep herself alive for a bit, even here. Going with this train of thought, she scratched at the vines with her glove’s pointed finger until the plant frayed and snapped, dropping her to the ground. Not a moment too soon either, since her ears picked up what was most certainly a very high pitched scream coming from deeper in the jungle, and if she recognized that properly, it was Leon! Without hesitation she took off, following the frequent screams through the dense foliage until she ran out into a wide clearing. What got her attention wasn’t seeing Dani or Leon anywhere though; it was the large, clearly very predatory dinosaur attacking a woman while she just stood there! Akemi didn’t know what could possibly be done about something that big with that many teeth on her own but it didn’t even matter soon enough because – Because….the woman who was just there a second ago suddenly relocated herself a few meters away in a flash of light. Akemi could do nothing more than stare in open shock at the sight, not quite trusting what she’d just seen. Maybe she’d gotten exposed to some hallucinogenic plant or something because there was no way that just happened. |

Claire held her sword at the ready. The great lizard beast before her was smaller than others she had seen. In her week spent meditating exploring and training on this ancient garden island she had come to notice several different distinctions between the beasts of the same species. Of this species of bipedal lizard the darker the tone of its green scales the more mature they were. This one as comparatively smaller than others she had seen, no doubt it had just struck out on its own and was attempting to expand its territory. These beasts were one of the apex predators of this environment. Because they had no natural predators they were the ones that were least scared off by her light. More so because they appeared to have poor eyes sight, she noted that they often lifted their noses to the air and sniffed to track prey. It might have been a natural evolution due to the thick jungle limiting line of sight. Since it was young and aggressive it likely lacked the intelligence and caution that came with age. If this were an older great lizard it would have given up and left by now. It was regrettable but she would have to be a bit rough with it. Claire closed her eyes and took a deep breath through her nostrils. She focused and centered her mind. It felt like everything was slowing down around her. She held her sword in front of her and listened. She could hear it, all of it. She heard the voice of the grass, of the trees, of the rocks, and the breathing of the beast charging towards her. She focused her senses more intently, her target, only her target. She focused solely on its scales, its claws on its vestigial arms, and the sharp points of its teeth. She burst forward and slashed. There was the momentary resistance as her blade met it and a flash of sparks as her sword swiped though it’s hardened scales. She came to a sudden stop 15 feet behind it. It stood there confused for a moment before the tips of its claws teeth and a large section of its scales suddenly burst apart and fell to the ground. The beast roared in surprise and fell over on its side thrashing. Claire looked back to inspect her work. She had managed to cleanly sheer off the scales from its chest leaving the rough skin beneath it untouched, its sharp teeth and vestigial claws were neutered. It would likely survive through hunting would be significantly more difficult for it. She had finally cemented the notion in its head not to encroach upon this territory. After giving weak whining bellows and thrashing for a few moments it rolled over and stood up and ran away. Claire opened her eyes and the world returned to its normal focus. She looked to her side to see a bewildered looking woman staring at her. She blinked few times. There was another woman here, no more of girl really. She was young, perhaps about 15-16. She had a regal style look to her, an air of refinement. Pale skin and extremely long hair, she looked distinctly out of place in a scene such as this. Claire extended a hand to and started to speak as her head snapped around to see another woman being chased by a saber-toothed tiger. Yet another predator intruding upon her isolation and meditation, this one chasing a young… woman? She looked like a young woman but her legs they were not that of a human. She possessed iridescent fish like scales. A mermaid? A rarity if there ever was one. Most went their whole lives even in the grand line without ever meeting one she’d heard. Oddly enough she had rocks tied to her arms and legs. It was… training. She recognized the style. One of her old instructors, a fan of old fashioned training methods had instructed her on the benefits of wearing weights while training to increase muscle strength and power. The young mermaid was fleeing besides a young blonde man. The saber-toothed cat was hot on their tail, hers literally and was quickly outpacing them. She started t point a finger at it however she stopped herself. If she missed she could accidentally end up killing them both. Her body began to glow brightly and then disassemble into a beam of light that flashed past both the mermaid and the young man in an instant without them even seeming to notice. She reappeared in front of the stunned cat an instant later and leveled a kick at its face. The force of the kick from having just come out o a light jump in addition to her immense strength caused it to fly backwards some 30 feet and slam into a tree knocking it flat and rendering the cat unconscious. She turned around to see the two who had no doubt noticed that the giant monster growling and chasing after them had vanished after the crashing and falling over of the tree. She sheathed her giant cross sword on her back and cleared her throat dusting off her rough spun tunic and hemp log pants and extending a hand to greet them. She also gestured over to where the stunned girl had been standing and waited till they had all gathered to speak to them all. “Greetings, I am Sister Claire LePue the III. I have come to this island for isolated meditation and inward reflection. Pray tell what brings you to this ancient garden. As you can see this island is extremely dangerous and no place for civilized folks such as yourself. If you were shipwrecked you are in luck. I have an arrangement with a merchant ship that passes this island every 4 days. They will pass by tomorrow so if you desire I can assist you in getting off this island. You are all welcome to stay with me for the remainder of the day if you are in need of protection. I have made a section inside the right mountain my resting place for my stay, it is meager accommodations but it is better than being exposed to the elements at night.” She greeted them with an utmost respectful and modest tone. Despite the tremendous powers and strength she had just displayed both her meager attire as well as humble posture and attitude as well as the fact she referred to herself as “sister” would imply she was some sort of religious figure. It wasn’t too uncommon for monks or priests to travel in a pilgrimage for self perfection. However such things as warrior monks or priests were usually a thing of fairy tales of stories. Claire was quite thankful yesterday was her day to bathe. She was a very modest and reserved woman and while she had no real qualms about bathing with other woman the young man here would have made her far too nervous to undress. Thank the heavens for small miracles. Techniques

At the appearance of the thought to be extinct-sabre tooth tiger Hunter's mind instantly forgot the training, the stone spear was dropped as the more lethal one was brought up into a classic charge defence stance, ready to skewer the beast should it charge at him. Luckily it instead chose to chase after some nearer prey, Dan was the meal the tiger had chosen instead, a meal that then turned and sprinted in the opposite direction to its approaching predator. Both disappeared into the deep foliage of the jungle, Leon evidently having followed by the cry coming from him, also helping Hunter to locate them, his stamina right now was nowhere near its best so he had little hope of catching up to the beast before it's meal was caught but he pushed himself to breaking point sprinting through the forest after the cat anyway. The reasoning behind this was not out of friendship, nor glory or a sense of companionship, rather the fact that from what he had seen neither of the two members of their group deserved to be made into cat food so Hunter would do whatever he could to make sure that they wouldn't be. The foliage hindered his progress somewhat but he was still making good progress towards the shouts, he could hear them better now over the sound of the leaves whipping across him and the leaf covered floor as he stepped on it, he was almost at his target. Light flashed in his eyes, not enough to seriously hinder him but it caused him to slow slightly, lest he fall into the trap that might have been sprung on the others. He could hear a single muffled voice from behind the wall of leaves that separated him from the others, slowly and silently he peeled back a few leaves, just enough for him to be able to see through the gap without arousing suspicion in those beyond. Stood in the clearing on the opposite side were Dan, Akemi and Leon, as well as a strange woman in some very camouflaging and odd clothing. She introduced herself as Sister Claire Le Peu the III before offering a way off this prehistoric paradise. The body of the sabre-toothed tiger was slumped up against a tree, with no signs of physical injury other than a bruise on its stomach. Whoever this person was she must be a strong opponent, Hunter could tell when he was outmatched but if Zei wasn't around to help he would have to attempt to save the others himself, he was poised to attack her should she attempt to initiate combat with anyone still in the clearing, his spear pointed directly at her as he coiled his legs ready to unleash himself like a spring. |

There were a number of very interesting things that happened upon entering the new clearing, the first and most obvious of which was the presence of yet another large predatory beast that seemed to be a dinosaur of some kind. The second unusual thing was that this creature was attacking woman, although it quickly became clear which of the two had the advantage. Through some incredible and unbelievable means this woman teleported in a flash of light before shearing the scales off the raptor in yet another instantaneous movement, this time using a sword to assist her. Whatever she had done, it was both powerful and precise. To be able to only cut the scales and claws off without leaving a scratch on the animal wasn't a feat anyone could accomplish, or else regular citizens would be much more dangerous. After rolling around on the floor briefly the dinosaur finally realised that it would not do it any favours to stick around, and consequently dashed off into the thick forest. With the distractions gone, the woman finally took notice of the new intruders in the clearing. At some point in time Akemi had arrived, and it was she that the woman examined first. It wasn't surprising, since a refined young lady such as her wouldn't often be found in a dangerous jungle in the middle of nowhere. However, it wasn't until she was just about to greet Akemi that she noticed the two people being chased by a tiger. You would think that this would be more noticeable due to a combination of movement and the extremely loud and irritating squealing coming from Leon's mouth, but apparently not. Thankfully she didn't hesitate to help, and hastily teleported before kicking the oversized cat right in the face. Barely realising that she had appeared behind them due to the speed she moved at, Dan barely had enough time to turn around and see the beast shoot back a very impressive distance. Clearly this woman was not someone to be messed with. Meanwhile Leon had continued running and screaming for another twenty metres before finally realising that the pursuer had been taken out. With no interruptions left (hopefully) the woman was finally able to introduce herself as Sister Claire LePue the III, currently undergoing isolated meditation and reflection. She was wearing a long green robe over green trousers, and was wielding a rather large sword. This information barely made it into the speechless pair's minds, since they were much to busy gawking at this woman who displayed power levels and magical abilities on par with their captain. Claire also asked why they were here, offering a way off the island and the opportunity to stay with her for a while. When Danielle had finished her share of staring she progressed quickly into her fangirl stage, as expected. With eyes shining like stars she bombarded Claire with an armada of questions. "Wooooah that was so cool! Can you do it again? Can you show me how to do that teleport thingy? And that dinosaur shaving one! Does that make you a barber? Can you shoot beams too?" Yet again her admiration levels were off the chart, while Leon was still just a bit surprised at what had happened. However, the mermaid's antics brought him back to earth. "You need to introduce yourself too, idiot. I'm Leon Kosoi by the way, and thanks for earlier." He said in his smoothest voice possible. He was now able to see that his saviour was a girl, and just like every cute woman she was his type. Therefore began his quest to take her heart, not that he was ever going to succeed. "Oh right, I knew that. My name's Danielle Gibson!" She announced in her usual cheery tone. |

Akemi blinked and stared at the scene. Even as she ran it through her mind over and over, she kept coming back to the same thing; she’d just seen someone actively teleport away from a large dinosaur but of course this made no sense at all, people didn’t just start warping from place to place like that. Clearly the dinosaur agreed with her assessment of the situation as it just ignored the entire scene and decided to try to devour the broadsword wielding woman again. Personally, Akemi both admired the ancient creature’s persistence while seriously questioning its judgement in picking a fight with anyone who could either warp at will or move fast enough that it was more or less the same thing. No wonder the things went extinct everywhere else in the world if this was the limit to their intelligence. The woman just stood there, watching and waiting as the dinosaur charged at her, claws and teeth bared until Akemi was starting to wonder if what she saw before truly was a trick of the eyes and the woman was going to become a snack. Then she burst forward. The only real sign Akemi had of her doing anything was the sound of scraping metal and sparks coming from the dino – wait, what went on there? Dinosaurs did not spark, she was sheltered but she was sure about that point at least. Anyway that wasn’t the point right now no matter how cool it looked. The dinosaur went down, which left Akemi staring at it a bit more, waiting for the massive explosion that always came after the whole spark slash thing like on those sentai tv shows she watched when she was younger…..about a couple of weeks ago…..up until she got cut off from any sort of television access…..moving on. For all its thrashing about and the complete lack of any exploding, it looked more or less fine. Somehow the woman had managed to shave off all its scales and slice nearly all of its pointy parts off! The scales by itself might have been passed off as her not being able to cut deep enough but then Akemi heard somewhere that teeth were actually pretty tough and the woman sliced all of them out. Not to mention that if she had the speed and precision to do that, if she wanted to kill that dinosaur, it would be dead. Instead it got to run off, although without its claws and teeth wouldn’t it starve to death anyway? By this point the woman’s attention had turned to her leaving Akemi scrambling (internally of course, she couldn’t let anyone see her even more out of sorts) to get herself projecting her proper image. At least until the screams reminded her of why she came running here in the first place. She turned to see Danielle and Leon being chased by a – was that a tiger?! Tigers did not come that large nor did they have such massive fangs! It probably was not helping that to the end Dani still had those rocks on her (though at least she did take her advice of keeping her clothes on). Akemi wondered for a moment just how she had managed to get distracted enough to forget about those screams even if the face of the odd woman but then with Leon being himself, she suspected that she was simply learning to tune out his excesses. She didn’t have anything against the guy at all but he was a bit…excitable but in a different way from Danielle and her potential exhibitionism streak. This didn’t help with the immediate problem though; how were they supposed to take down something like that without Mr Akame around? Ask and you shall receive and her answer was provided in the form of the mystery woman once again glowing brightly but this time Akemi was determined to try to make sense of things. Again the woman just vanished and the cat followed soon after, going flying back from some sudden force that sent it into a tree and into dream land. So she wasn’t seeing things at all! The woman actually teleported in a bright flash of light! Just what kind of person was she? Well whatever the answer to that was there was no denying that she had just saved Danielle and Leon’s lives. And more wonders, once the three were grouped together she gave her introductions; so she was Sister Claire LePue III? Akemi had never heard of anyone bearing that family name but then that sounded like a member of a church or a clergy or something along those lines, she wouldn’t ever have cause to run into any members of those groups for extended periods of time. She looked and sounded the role too with her concern over just how they managed to end up on this prehistoric island – though Akemi supposed that they didn’t exactly project the image of those who came here of their own free will. It was a bit curious as to what she needed extra training for if she was already so powerful; Mr Akame didn’t really come for training for himself, he came here to help train them to survive the Grand Line. While on that topic she did seem to be pretty similar to her knight as far as the ability to get things done faster than anyone could follow went. And as expected, by this point Danielle had relased her barrage of questions in a full excited frenzy, though Akemi couldn’t say that she was doing much better; the only things stopping her was the combination of her own pride and image that she needed to maintain and the fact that Danielle had just asked a few questions that she wanted to know as well. Well there were a few missing but first proper protocol needed to be followed; it wouldn’t do to potentially offend Ms LePue after all the trouble she went through helping them out of a potentially messy situation. With a formal bow, Akemi made her own introductions. “I am Akemi Sinclaire and we actually aren’t shipwrecked here. We came with the purpose of undergoing some training ourselves though we seem to have gotten a bit sidetracked with that endeavour.” That was putting it lightly. “We do appreciate your offer though; we’ve gotten separated from our captain while here and all things considered –“ Like everything that could eat or squash them “It would be best to remain in one location so he can find us easily.” There was still one more thing that needed to be said though. “….By the way, how did you learn to create sparks like that while hitting someone? Can you make stuff explode after hitting it like in those shows?” And Akemi’s control was slipping just a bit but she could be forgiven this small indiscretion right? She couldn’t pass up a chance like this after all. |

Claire smiled warmly at the lost sheep that had wound up within the lion’s den. They seemed quite affable. The mermaid a short young girl named Danielle had a bubbly and overwhelmingly chipper personality. Without even introducing herself she began to bombard her with questions about her abilities, her light powers, her swordsmanship and whether or not she could teach her them. Claire responded with a nervous smile being a more reserved sort of personality type she was not used to being fawned over in such a way. Her compatriot a young man with blond hair seemed a bit more sensible and respectful informing the young maiden it was improper to ask questions before introducing oneself. Their other companion was a very aristocratic looking young woman who spoke with an air of refinement and dignity, it was certainly odd that she was here of all places. The aristocratic girl gave a formal bow as she introduced herself as a woman known as Akemi Sinclaire. Claire listened to her introduction and the explanation of their presence on this ancient world island. They too were undergoing training of sorts. They had been under the care of their “captain” This made Claire worry somewhat. She was after all a bounty hunter and if their captain was a wanted pirate she would be forced into conflict perhaps. Though if his notoriety was slim she might overlook it if they agreed to leave many pirates didn’t think as rationally as that. However she could tell these people were in fact quite well meaning. Years of serving as a bounty hunter and in the church had enabled her capacity to glean a bit of a person’s disposition and alignment. She smiled warmly noticing the young mermaid was still beaming at her while inching inch by inch closer towards her. A bit embarrassed by her unrequited affection. Claire extended a hand and patted the girl on the head gently nudging her back while trying to reassure her to calm down. “Y-yes thank you, there there…” She said nervously patting the young mermaids head in an attempt to calm her down a bit. She turned away and extended a hand and closed her eyes concentrating her logia’s energy into her hand. A small glow engulfed her hand and eventually forms a small mote of light that she held aloft in her hand. It emanated a soft gentle radiance and warmth. She took a deep breath and clenched her fist and the light vanished. “Yes I can perform such feats; this is due solely to the Fruit of the Devil not my own power. I was given no choice but to consume this accursed fruit in an engagement with a pirate I faced not too long ago. Rather than let the destructive power of this fruit, the pika pika no mi, fall into the hands of the madman One Eyed Jack I chose to consume it myself. Though I did so as a last resort. I did not wish for this… power.” She spoke with words of hesitation, that last word ‘power’ was spoken with a heavy tone as if she deeply regrets it, which in fact she quite did. "I came here to practice and learn to control this power away from those who might get hurt. This power is a terrible burden that if I am not careful may consume me or those around me. Hence my voluntarily isolation upon this forgotten and abandoned land. There is a merchant ship that passes by the island every few days. I arranged transport to here and when the ship passes I either let them know to wait until the next trip or leave when it arrives. You claim you are undergoing training with your captain you say? Perchance what was their name? I should like to speak to him about the dangerousness of taking such inexperienced travels to this section of the grand line. As you have probably seen this island is far from safe this is for more reasons than just the creatures that roam these ancient jungles. The humidity and tropical climate can sap the strength from the inexperienced as well as the myriad of ancient diseases that still fester in these lands.” She mentioned as she took out a leather flask of spring water she had collect and took a quick drink. It was quite necessary to keep adequately hydrated in this climate. The heat and humidity could make you feel hydrated while in actuality your body was rapidly losing moisture. She offered the flask of fresh water to the three of them. She sat down bow legged and rested her sword over her knees and folded her hands resting on the width of the flat o the blade. She gestured for the rest of them to follow suit. “In any case if your captain is indeed looking for you most likely he will happen upon this site. I have been surveying the island for a while now. This spot offers the most open and flatters space I’ve seen yet so far. No doubt he will be drawn here. You are welcome to stay and rest here with me. Before the great scaled lizard from before attacked I was in the middle of meditation. It would no doubt aid in your training to partake of this practice alongside me. A strong mind can whether any assault and steel courage in the face of fear and hate. Come and join me why don’t you.” She explained calmly as she gave a few quick instructions on how to assume a comfortable position and some techniques to clear the mind and concentrate their senses. She took a few deep breaths through her mouth and explained a few breathing techniques as well. “To attain true strength one must control and stifle violent emotions and impure thoughts. Feelings such as fear hate anger jealous envy pride slot. These feelings cloud the mind and soul and hinder strength and true growth. Close your mind and imagine the. Imagine you are holding out your hands and they are full of the things that you hate that you fear. Imagine those emotions are shrinking smaller and smaller as you close your hand and they begin to vanish. Now release them empty your mind and allow the tranquility and spirituality of peace to surround you. True strength comes not from hate, from wanting to destroy. True strength comes from a desire to protect, to preserve. In life there are many who wish to harm, to destroy, to ravage. To give into, and worse to meet these emotions with your own similar kind. That is to admit defeat. To fight fear with fear is to succumb to their level. To answer rage with rage is to lose oneself to the madness of hate. If these negative emotions cannot be abandoned, then you have already lost and you are destined to become the very thing that threatens to hurt you. Through meditation, inward reflection, and mastering oneself we can remove these impure thoughts, and attain enlightenment and tranquility.” She explained as she herself imagined she was holding then releasing her negative emotions. It was hard, even after all these years it was hard. She could still picture the face of the villains that took her parents from her, that nearly took her life. She still felt anger for them even after nearly a quarter of a lifetime of meditation. It was difficult but she imagined that small red anger, the blackest hatred she felt in her hands. She squeezed it tight, and then released it imagining all those emotions fading away. In her mind she imagined herself surrounded by what she valued most. Charity towards others, compassion, chastity and sanctity before god. She took a deep breath; this one now much more relaxed and opened her eyes to gage the expressions of her compatriots. She had hoped that they were working on their breathing and were able to gain some clarity into themselves. It was not an easy task. She knew not of their pasts or resolve. However she hoped that they may gain some manner of peace and calmness from this. She also hoped that this peaceful display might coax the one watching in hide nearby to drop his stifled hostility towards her and potentially join them. "Well, how does it feel, are you all managing to see the potential inside you. In the storm and torrent of the times and turbulent emotions of this world be not like ship sailing against the current. Become like a buoy, bobbing in the ocean and flowing and matching the current. Do not fight the waves, bend with them, flow with them, and allow them to move in rhythm with yourself.” She explained attempting to use a sea based metaphor to explain the benefits of a tranquil mind both in and out of combat. |

Hunter had stayed hidden in the leaves all through Claire's speech, trying to gauge something of her disposition towards them, he took as long as was necessary as judging her wrongly could mean the death's of his new companions. The ball of light flaring into life in her hands made him realise she must have also caused the flash of light he had seen before, and what had allowed her to do that was the power of the devil's fruit. The very same thing that gave Zei his power gave this woman a completely different yet still seemingly useful ability, judging from her show of strength so far she was definitely above Hunter's level, and probably above that of him and his companions combined. If she had wanted to do harm to them then she could have dealt with them all in a heartbeat, he would have to be careful with her as this could be an act, but for the moment he would go along with it. Hunter smoothly and with minimal noise crept out of the bush, appearing to anyone who was not looking to have just appeared next to Akemi and joining in the meditation, meditation was an easy task for him as he used it often to clear his mind when dealing with a potential target. He focused on his surroundings, drinking in every sound he could hear, the change of light in his eyelids and the movements he could feel, the wind blowing, the heat it blows along with it and the vibrations in the ground, which were thankfully quite faint which meant hopefully they wouldn't be getting anymore visitors soon. He felt all of his surroundings and drank in those noises, the calm noises of nature as it was supposed to be helped to focus him and calm him, he could feel his mind and body simultaneously being focussed as he continued on through the meditation, thinking nothing of the other's reactions to his sudden appearance and the strange woman for a minute or two. |

Zei noticed the fact that Akemi was no longer riding on him a few moments de facto, coming to an abrupt halt he franticly looked around for any sign of his wayward comrade, he hadn’t quite noticed before but the further inland he got the more smells assaulted his nose making instantly tracking Akemi a bit more difficult than it would otherwise have been, however there was nothing wrong with his ears and as soon as he heard the sounds of beasts and combat he changed direction and dashes toward its source. However as he didn’t want to barge out in an unknown scene he slowed downa bit as he closed in and eventually stopped in a dense bush to observe what was going on. Had anything dangerous been threatening his students no obstacle in the world would have stopped him from ripping said dangerous things to shreds, however it seemed he had arrived a bit too late on the scene for that as an unknown great sword wielding lady had already dispatched of the beasts when Zei arrived. Keeping himself hidden Zei Slowly transformed back into his human form, while the wolf form was more convenient for moving around it really was too physically large to make hiding particularly easy. What he observed was most curious indeed, the sword lady seemed capable of turning into light at will, a most curious ability, he had heard of the rare Logia devil fruits even if they weren’t quite as rare as his own mythical zoan model. He did marvel at what astounding luck he must have to encounter another rare fruit user, those things didn’t exactly grow on trees, well to be honest he had no idea where devil fruits actually came from but nevermind that little detail. Oddly enough the Lady who apparently went by the name of Claire started to give Zeis protégés instructions in meditation, Zei hadn’t planned on teaching them that for a while yet, after all he had judged them to be more in need of actual combat strength at the moment. But it did please him that Claire didn’t seem to be hostile. With Hunter showing up as well Zei decided it was time to reveal his own presence, standing up he calmly walked out in the clearing, crimson eyes shining in the sunlight. He only hoped that Claire wouldn’t be intimidated by his appearance, she didn’t seem the type but you could never know for sure ahead of time. Picking up his halberd he then did a proper martial artist bow before Claire ”Greetings, I am Zei Akame” Gesturing toward the rest of his crew he continued ”I seem to be in your debt, you have given aid to my comrades and that is something I appreciate” He decided to stay silent about his own fruit power for now, it was not something you bragged about the first time you met someone, doing so would have been rude and might come off as hostile. Likewise he didn’t comment on Claires ability, if she was truly strong she would recognise Zeis stance and greeting as that of a warrior just like he had immediately been able to tell that she was one well versed in combat and not like many devil fruit users overly reliant on her power. However he couldn’t but help to be curious about her combat ability outside of the power. ”If it wouldn’t be too much trouble I’d like to ask you for a sparring match, I have been training my comrades to better handle the grand line and letting them observe a sparring match between us might give them some important pointers. Of course if this is too much to ask then I will not impose on your goodwill further” He had originally planned on giving Akemi live combat practise but if his proposal for a spar was accepted then it would be a good start. |

Claire was understandably overwhelmed by the squealing fangirl bouncing up and down in front of her, her nervous voice and slight recoiling actions showing that she wasn't very used to dealing with such over-enthusiastic young mermaids. She attempted to calm down the girl with a tentative pat on the head, hoping that this would satisfy her desires and give her some space. However, it only had the adverse effect of spurring her on. Danielle giggled happily at the gesture before throwing herself at the poor sister, hugging her and rubbing her face against her. There was no such thing as holding back for Dan, as she smiled contently and refused to let go of her idol. It was only the intervention of Leon that stopped the two from being attached together forever. He had been looking at the scene with a very disapproving look on his face for two reasons: the first being that he had seen the same thing happen many times before, and the second being that he wasn't very keen to see one of his countless love interests stolen from him, especially by Danielle of all people. There was no problem when she did this to Zei, since Leon had no interest in his captain whatsoever. Akemi had been relatively safe from the mermaid's clutches, for now at least. But with Claire being attacked right before his eyes, he had to do something to save her. "Get off her, Dan." He asked, knowing full well that there was little chance she would comply. "No. Boooo." Replied the mermaid, scrunching up her face and sticking her tongue out for a moment before continuing with the rubbing. "Then you leave me no choice." Leon concluded, striding up to the pair and grabbing onto Dan's leg. He then began to pull, but would have difficulty separating her since he wasn't any stronger than she was. "Let go!" She protested, shaking her legs to try to stop Leon. This continued for a few seconds before she finally lost her grip and was sent tumbling backwards with Leon. She was very subtle about it, but she let go because she didn't want to ruin Claire's clothes. Even little miss airhead could be caring sometimes, she just didn't tend to broadcast it. With the additional weight gone, Danielle's new idol began to demonstrate what she was capable of. It seemed to take a bit of concentration, but after closing her eyes for a moment she managed to produce a small ball of light that glowed warmly as she held it aloft. If only she had done this earlier, since both Dan and Leon stared in awe at the beautiful power Claire displayed. She went on to explain how this was the ability of a devil fruit she was forced to eat, her tone of voice and facial expressions showing sadness and regret in her words. Despite this she had come to this island to learn to control her power. However, she did not approve of these others training here since the jungle was extremely dangerous. Danielle graciously accepted the flask of water offered to her, since mermaids were especially prone to dehydration she had to drink water whenever she could. However, most of what else was being said went completely over her head. She just smiled and pretended to understand this stuff about meditation, only making an effort to copy the stance and breathing. Leon did the same, and similarly was paying very little attention to the talking. He was much more interested in looking at Claire, and waited for an opportunity to flirt. This chance came when she stopped talking, and it was not missed. "I'm having a bit of trouble, do you have time for some one on one lessons with me? I think that would help a lot more." Fortunately there was no time to answer this, since at that moment a much more interesting person decided to enter the clearing. Zei Akame bowed before Claire and introduced himself as a comrade of the novices at meditation. Getting straight to the point, he asked for a sparring match between himself and her in order to teach his disciples a some things about fighting. This seemed like a good idea to improve them, but it was badly thought out. There were no problems with the instructors, not with most of the students. Only Danielle posed a problem. First off, she was excited enough with just one of her idols present. Both of them in the same place immediately sent her brain into overload and completely ruined any chances she had at getting something out of her meditation. She leaped up and appeared in front of Zei and Claire before anyone could blink, her face glittering with adoration as she gazed at the two of them. The second problem was that these two idols would be fighting, the mere thought of this giving the mermaid a nosebleed. |

While Akemi had run off with all intention of finding something to do not related to getting married off and continuing a business empire, she did pay attention to her lessons, one of which was how to get a good idea of someone by just observing them. Her eyes were, for obvious reasons locked onto Miss LePue as she interacted with them. So far she looked more nervous than anything although that more likely than not had to do with Danielle trying to latch herself onto the glowing woman, not at all shy about showing her affections. Though if the mermaid got fully taken up with Miss LePue, well that might lead to some other troubles. Of course this didn’t stop Akemi from giggling under her breath at Miss LePue’s very unsuccessful attempts at getting the mermaid to let her go, which was in effect making the situation worse since apparently, petting a mermaid’s head only made them even more hyper. Fortunately enough, Leon managed to get Danielle to let go before Akemi lost control of her laughter – no, before Mr LePue got injured or something. Yessss, that was it, no ulterior motives at all. Anyways, now that Danielle and Miss LePue were separated, the swordswoman went on to explain just how she managed to do what she did. She was taken in by the glowing orb she was able to make with such ease and while their protector spoke about her newfound powers as though they were some sort of curse all Akemi could really focus on was that she was empowered by a devil fruit in the same way that Mr Akame was, and she ended up becoming incredibly powerful because of it. From her words though, that was done by keeping it away from a pirate by the barest margin and as wondrous as the sister made it look, the fruit was far more dangerous than it appeared at first glance. Still, it certainly didn’t look like it was something that should be treated like an outright curse on her being, that kind of view couldn’t be very healthy. “Well Ms LePue, while I can see the potential for destruction given what you just did, I don’t think that you should look at it so negatively…” She was getting quite nervous about this; after all, it certainly wasn’t very proper to be trying to give someone any form of advice after they had to save your life along with those of your friends but this didn’t sound like something that should be left alone. She’d deal with the consequences later on. “From what you said, you kept the fruit out of the hands of one who would have abused its power, and so far you have done nothing to make me believe that you’re the kind of person to go on a rampage. I’m sure that I anyone can learn to use that devil fruit properly, it would be you. After all, who would be better to keep something potentially destructive in check than someone who can respect the power and use it for good? Even just now, you used that power to protect all of us. It doesn’t seem to be an inherently horrible thing, just something that can be easily used for bad things by bad people. It’s like a gun or sword….except a bit cooler.” So much cooler, so far devil fruits seemed to be a pretty handy thing to get your hands on. Sure you wouldn’t be able to swim anymore but compared to the potential power you could get your hands on, that seemed like such a minor issue. Not to mention the possibility of become cute and fluffy like Mr Akame…so fluffy……. She barely noticed the waterskin that was offered to her in the midst of her fur laced daydreaming but once she took a sip, it took quite an amount of effort for her to not abandon her manners and gulp down the whole thing. She hadn’t noticed at all but she really was quite parched. Didn’t Mr LePue just mention that the environment could play tricks with your body? Everything about this place really was dangerous. But still…. “Mr Akame trusts us! I’m sure that he wouldn’t bring us into anything that we couldn’t handle.” If he let them run around the island despite all of that, he must have believed that if it came to it, they could handle anything at least long enough for him to arrive and help, and frankly Akemi appreciated that he didn’t see her as something fragile that needed coddling. Though she’d need to make sure to leave this out when telling her mother her adventures eventually, she wouldn’t appreciate hearing about this at all. They moved along to Miss LePue offering to give them meditation lessons. In this one Akemi was about as bad as Danielle as far as following along went; she had gotten some lessons from her teachers about the art but as she’d experienced firsthand, there was a difference between hearing and understanding. She did go through the motions and tried to follow her advice but Akemi suffered from the fundamental problem of not particularly wanting to reflect on her own thoughts. Generally that led to her moping on her situation which only ended with her being depressed and having a ruined mood for the rest of the day. Ah, but then her current situation was much better. Still, she could also see where that would go; she’d end up zoning out again and she quite frankly didn’t want to do that right now where a random prehistoric creature might pop up at any time. Instead she focused on the sounds around her, the birds, insects, the vibrations from whatever giant thing was running amok, someone coming near her – That last one caused her eyes to snap open as her whole body tensed up; only relaxing slightly when she saw that it was Hunter. Of course at this point she really wasn’t going to manage to get any meditation done for now though given that Mr Akame had shown up soon after, it was for the best. Especially when he requested a sparring match with Miss LePue; she’d seen how strong the sister was but then she also knew that Mr Akame was really, really, strong and her fluffy knight! But then light beams and teleporting was also so very cool! And Danielle was up again! Not so cool. Akemi recalled what happened before with Miss LePue and seeking to prevent a possible repeat, she stood up and quickly moved herself to be in position to stop any glomping attempts. Of course this in of itself required her to be quite close to Mr Akame but that was just a coincidence. And if she was holding onto her knight just a bit possessively, well then she didn’t really have a reason for that one beyond wanting to do it; if Danielle could get away with it she was certainly not going to pass up the opportunity. |
