Cosmo’s eyes slowly and weakly opened, only to be shut again by an annoyingly bright light just above him. As much as he wanted to just drift back to sleep, he couldn’t. This light seemed to have it out for him, as it managed to bleed through the very minute cracks of his eyelid. He kept telling himself it was almost over, but yet he knew that he kept telling himself that it was only going to be even longer. He turned to side, thinking that would be enough to escape the light and it was for a brief moment.

From his comfortable bed he peered into what was clearly a jail from the door of his open cell. He could feel (but mostly hear) the violent resentment all these men held for him, what with him being a member of the law and also the whole having an open cell. It wasn’t his choice, of course. The krakens had led a violent trail of blood through the streets of the island, leaving the main hospital full. Because Cosmo was in such bad shape and needed treatment immediately, they just threw him into the jail, where they had an intensive care room set up for a pirate who they just needed to live as he had much needed exposition.

Within a few minutes the lights in the main prison went on, and they were even brighter than the light above him. Cosmo groaned in defeat and just turned his back to the cell door. The chipped white paint which revealed the coarse grey way beneath was calming enough, until the sun finally broke through the cloudy sky and shone down right into Cosmo’s eyes. That really should have been the point where the lights went off, but yet, Cosmo could’ve sworn that they shone with even greater intensity.

But before Cosmo could just relish in the silence that there was, he was caught off guard by the sudden burst of noise from behind him. He uttered a cry of “Oh no.” in a very matter-of-factly way that didn’t fit with the message. Weakened, still bruised, and bloodied, Cosmo stood up and limped and dragged himself to his own cell door. With what little strength he had left, he slowly shut the door and locked himself out. It was just in time, because as his door clicked it began.

Fire and noise it was a prison riot.

“I was only a day from getting out of here too…”

(Dark rolled us Gesso, but he hasn't posted it in the thread yet.)

The day in the rather unremarkable grey prison of Turpintown had continued to be quite uneventful, as usual, from sun up until a few hours before noon. That seemed to be when the trouble really began, and many shades of trouble it would be for this grey prison in the white town. A riot was what happened, and how? As luck wouldn't have it there were a variety of causes that all would have created a riot on their own, but for this particular riot the entire prison would rise into an uproariously violent clamor. The one, probably most sensical cause for the riot was the escape attempt of one particular KKK member, the Kolor Kidnapper only known as "Paint Transposer," had managed to foil the greatest efforts of the prison guards and escape along with a large amount of what was formerly his trappings, black chains. Paint Transposer's reputation did not precede him, he was very much the tourist murdering bastard everyone in the prison thought he was, which is why they all violently rose to either add him, as fellow imprisoned KKK members, attack him, or run from him. The guards had a hard enough time with that but there was still more going on.

While the whole "Transposer" incident was pretty major another one was just as potentially dangerous. Outside the prison a rare traveling circus seemed to be traveling through Turpin Town, probably visiting Gesso Island for a nice peaceful stop on their way through the Grand Line, and a group of "creative" and "stable" criminals got the idea in their head that they wanted to visit the colorful and exotic attraction to their home island. A combination of luck, ingenuity, and "Toss it in the mix" wisdom led to a concrete destroying explosion and an outpouring of people who proceeded to try and raid the new-coming circus. The wild and estranged animals were in a great hullabaloo and the circus staff were in worse for ware. By the end of the exchange an elephant and a few large predator cats were in a prison and out of the care of trained professionals. The last riot-causing event was caused over something much less grand, a cafeteria brawl that began all over a coffee mug.

The riot had been going on for quite some time until it had reached the less populated wing of the prison that housed an intensive care unit, though the din had reached the not-riot-filled area easily enough. The first pieces of the hoard who had the chance to even see Cosmosis had very little mind to pay him any heed, to them he was just another comrade locked behind bars and that could matter for a day a tiger wasn't chasing them. A few moments more and the crowd became denser around the improvised ward. Inmates with a lacking physical confidence began trying to put themselves behind bars just too escape danger while other, more fanatical parts of the mob, were focusing on escape and anarchy. To the credit of the prison guards the situation had been contained and not so much controlled, as was easily seen in the fact Cosmosis' guard (though he was tasked with the whole area Cosmosis was in) quickly tried to hide in a nearby janitorial closet. He was captured by the mob that grew more and more in blood thirst by the minute shortly though, all in front of the circumstance-made marine.

It was only moments after the potentially horrendous site of what the fanatical near-homocidal mob did to the prison guard in question that the crowd, in part, turned its attention on to the injured marine. The hall in front of his cell, though, was full of a writhing mass of prisoners going whichever way and there for the sake of their own means. One skinny man who oozed an air of sliminess, though he wasn't foreign to the island as noted by his leucistic complexion. "I hear this man comes from authority, a foreigner no less. I wonder if marines squeal any more than tourists." Said this man who bore a rainbow-toned KKK on his bicep. "All the marines I've ever met, all none of them, never gave me the chance to paint them white. Wonder if we can have fun with this colorful little guy." Said the significantly fatter, and honestly dim looking, man who stood next to the first. A blazing red KKK was on his forehead. A third man, a bit too far off to the left from the fat one, eyed the other two men before saying, "I don't really know how I got here but I'm glad that we haven't been tumbled over by this crowd. Sheesh, am I right?"

The other two standing before Cosmosis' cage paid the third no heed, starting fiddle with the door to the cell as a full-blown city-scaled riot took place in their prison. It was almost like there were too many people for this one prison there in the first place. As all the madness continued to exist around the rather isolated marine the sound of thundering quakes was pretty much impossible to hear.

He was able to get a glimpse of the commotion as he stood at the cell door for only a few brief seconds. In a fairly rare moment of introspection, Cosmo threw it all away by just regretting a single moment in the past. Of course, it wasn’t him hurting anyone or making a mess of things, which there was plenty of. No, Cosmo’s mind went to the point where he fell asleep at the beach outside Cobalt Brave. He was taken by the tide and he awoke to an absurd chain of events that led him to be in a Gesso jail during a massive riot.

With a simple and exhausted sigh, he pushed himself away from the bars of the cell door. He waddled and limped, and before long Cosmo was finally able to get back to the all-important bed. With his cell door closed, he thought he was going to be at least relatively safe for at least a few minutes. He threw himself back onto the mattress and stuck his IV back into the arm. He thought, maybe he’d be able to sleep the riot away.

With the sun glaring right into the cracks of his eyes, Cosmo tried to let the world melt away as his consciousness faded. The sounds outside just seemed to intensify as if it was coming in Cosmo’s general direction. There was what sounded like clear and coherent conversation and fiddling with his lock. All of it was very possible. He turned himself onto his back and looked back up into the ceiling light which had plagued him all those seconds ago.

The sound at his cell hatch was getting louder and he knew what he had to do to stop it. Going against both the doctor’s orders and just common sense, Cosmo made a concerted effort to move his bed from where it was to an upwards position. From behind the bed, Cosmo let out a noticeable groan as he dragged himself away and allowed himself to lay down on the rough and cold floor.

"Damn." Declared one of the Kolor Knappers after he decided continuing to pick the lock was useless. He, quite logically, stepped back into the rushing crowd and was swept up into the chaos all too suddenly. Not many even noticed him, not even his buddy and acquaintance who continued to stand in front of Cosmo's cell. "Bah. Do what you will, I'll get in and see just how much color he's got on him. Just wait and see." Grumbled the second, probably only living out of the pair, KKK member as he was, soon enough, successful in prying the lock open. "Here." Yelled the man who had recently developed a relationship with the lock picker. "I'll get this door open, trust me buddy-guy" He began to ruthlessly kick at the door before ineffectively switching to ramming his shoulder into the iron bars before eventually conceiving the cunning idea to push and shake the cell door until he settled on cycling between all three actions for the sake of hurrying the opening of the cell's door.

While the remaining pair chipped at Cosmo's material defenses the chaos that ran rampant throughout the prison continued. Paint Transposer and a sizable force of Kolor Kidnappers had begun to coordinate among themselves, moving up corridors with an almost killer precision and brutality. A few of the KKK members, likely the low-ranked ones, were tasked with mopping up the brilliant red of blood with the white sheets of the beds supplied by the prison. The mass of other, unorganized, rioters were helpless to do anything against the force of convicted tourist-assaulters. Most of the sane guards had already retreated to form stronger counter offensives elsewhere while other, probably already mad, guards decided to try and fruitlessly fight against the flow of the growing tide of prisoners. It didn't help that many people were constantly afraid of the always, very hard to hear but certainly there, growl of predators. That and the stomping earthquake-steps of the elephant.

On the subject of the elephant, its journey had been quite eventful and destructive as a large pile of concrete and rubble followed after the lumbering giant land mammal. On top of it was a prison of unquestionable mental instability who seemed to be almost controlling the monstrous roaring grey thing it rode upon. While, unanimously, the prisoners tried to run as quickly as possible from the creature the splattering sound of human flesh and puddles of bone and blood mixed in with the concrete rubble in the wake of the elephant. It would be very obvious to Cosmo, that a monstrous grey beast with red stained ivory tusks and feet bathed in the crimson liquid was visible as to how close it had gotten, that he was in more danger than before if he cared to observe his surroundings more.

On a less obvious note there seemed to be a rather youngish man in a guard uniform that, surprisingly, was trying to perform his duty unfalteringly and had positioned himself inconspicuously outside of Cosmo's cell, waiting to ambush the two men who... now had succeeded in breaking open the iron doors.

Given the general theme of his various absurd adventures, it was hardly a surprise to Cosmo that he was going to be brutalized by stooges. It was all expected, and close to the routine of the past month. He had previously lost his antennae to a drunken caricature of a subculture nonexistent in the world he resided in, and then went to crash into the Redline or the damn continent that wrapped around the world. Still, he wasn’t too pleased by the annoyance that came with the loud noise that came with their boorish shenanigans. Finally, Cosmo was at the last of his already short supply of nerves, “Hey, can you guys lay off it for five minutes at least?” He openly questioned, hoping his voice would be able to echo off the wall he was facing and penetrate the mattress blocking the door.

There was a different sound among the chaos, one that brought Cosmo’s caffeine deprived noggin up. He listened as carefully as he could just in an attempt to figure out what was going down. He was fully aware that these sorts of riots could get strange, but they usually involved things that were lying around the prison. He was caught off guard by only momentary disbelief, but yet he could not muster the amount needed to just outright question the absurdity of this particular situation.

That was of course, the elephant in the room. Uh… a literal elephant in the room, as there wasn’t much in the way of awkward conversation going on, what with Cosmo being both alone and still at least relatively sane. Perhaps his own sanity could’ve been brought into question as the approaching sounds of a soon-to-be elephant in the room made short work of the prison walls. To Cosmo, it was no longer a question of why, why, what, or why, but of just when was he going to come face to face with the boisterous beast that was ramming its way through the cellblock.

He stood up once more, knowing that he’d probably be better off standing when the debris was flung, despite the contrary. He stumbled forward on the floor that was before left untouched as a result of a bed lying on top of it. As he did so, he managed to trip forward with great blunt force straight onto his face. After several seconds of being absolutely dazed, not only as a result of hitting his head against the concrete, but also as a result of just frustration over the fact that it just happened. He put his hands flat against the hard, now warm concrete and pushed himself up. As he put the weight on his bad ankle as he finally got to standing, he felt the ground under it sink.

The reality addled sod wasn’t exactly hit by curiosity and pretty much ignored the loose brick in the otherwise solid concrete floor. Instead he continued to pace around the room, ignoring the nose bleed as he often did. He mused through the long list things that were probably going to wrong. He knew his odds, and he knew that getting out alive was a laughable concept, of course he wasn’t about to start laughing. He grabbed his head, the pain of several bouts of blunt trauma, and a month’s worth of relentless caffeine withdrawal getting to him, "For fuck's sake..."

The door was forced open with the loud sound of a mattress being dragged until launched and clanging metal as the steel bars were shook by the vibrations of melee force. "Now that that's said and done, let's get 'im." The non-KKK member, yet man still adamant on ruthlessly torturing or attacking Cosmo in a variety of way for the sake of appeasing the only friend he'd made on his first day in prison gleefully proposed as he almost danced into the room with the hope of violence on the mind, his Kolor Kidnapping friend walked past him with a disgusted look, partially happy with the safety assured within the cell but more than unhappy with his newest cellmate. He was far quicker at trying to get at the bleeding Cosmo as the pale, sickly man, was busied pacing the room. A bit behind him his not-so-kidnappy friend was closing his eyes and humming a cheerful tune.

"Shut it you oaf! And come here you pretty, your hair's going to sell well once I get out of here. Until then I'll have to keep them safe hidden away under the rack. Come on now, I only want to stain everything you own with your lovely, crimson red, blood." During the same moments that the almost fetishistic kolor knapper was attempting to "acquire" Cosmo, the overzealous prison guard began moving, taking a silent course of action and approaching the prancing yet sadistic fellow who was still by the cell door. It was a quick and silent take down dependent on the accuracy of a baton to ram into the target's throat and a quick heel-driven flip that brought the man down, incapacitated (hopefully not dead). The guard continued moving until he was behind the knapper who was dangerously close to Cosmo, and brought the baton over the man's head to bring him quickly into a choke, with lots of strangling. "Hey, whoever in Color's name you are you'll be needing to get out of here, you aren't a prisoner so I think I can do my best to lead you out of here. You just have to trust me." At the end of his dialogue the prison guard twisted his baton to create a sickly crack that originated from the knappers neck.

At this time the obvious cops versus escaped prisoners battle had created an obvious winners, the kolor kidnapper, Pain Transposer, had successfully pulled the other imprisoned knappers into a large force that had managed to confiscate a variety of equipment from the enraged prison guards who had been completely ineffective in fighting against the flow of riot and prisoner. It was a truly frightening sight to see the incarceration-hardened kolor kidnapper klub to move around in a tight group, figuratively swallowing any man that got to close to the group. Transposer was busying himself with directing the group in creating their escape, moving towards the final stand that the guards had managed to set up. A variety of barricades had been put together for the sake of forcing a choke point into the prison's yard, the building was thought to be with only one exit as of then.

Back to a rather important detail, the slightly above average-sized elephant had now been within steps of Cosmo's cell, trying to deal with the man that was riding him. The elephant managed to pick out the sounds of a familiar crack, one he was desiring to create himself. It was the sound of a human's neck being broken, or at least a sound responsible for forcing people to be inactive. It was one such sound that the elephant wanted to hear and as such he stormed towards it at a quicker canter until, a few smashing walls later, he reached a relatively empty cell before stopping, the roof had been broken apart to make room for the grey tank, and the animal shook itself vigorously, dislodging its rider who fell at Cosmo's feet.

Cosmo ceased tending to his headache when he flinched at the loud and thunderous entrance of the Stooges Two. He had already mused over the fact that the two people that came to murder him were essentially a boorish comedy duo, the sort that would be the underlings of the villain of a children’s cartoon. So for a brief moment, Cosmo gave them both a blank stare as they argued on their way to tear him limb from limb.

It was usually at this point that one would recount their life, but sadly Cosmo was running out of flashbacks or at least flashbacks from a more distant past. In his last few seconds he was brought back to this one time. There was hardly any meat to these quick flashes of back, but they provided ample distraction from his impending doom, and gave a little bit of reflection. Why did he pick soup over salad? The restaurant wasn't known for its soup, but yet it had quite a fine selection of salads.

He was mildly bewildered when one made a big deal over his hair. His garish blue, thinning, split end riddled hair couldn’t be worth all that much. As always, Cosmo was more focused on his headache than the immediate danger he was faced with. Both were common enough occurrences, but the headache was just only a higher priority. He returned to cradle his head and let out a grunt of both pain and just frustration as he was faced down by the pair of psychotic killers. Their boorish tones were just making the headache worse, so Cosmo just snapped, “You know wha—“He began in his disinterested tone, only to be cut off by the guard saving the day.

“Alright.” He casually replied as he was instructed to leave. He shrugged, thinking it was fairly hard to argue. Knowing that he couldn’t just run out in his hospital gown, Cosmo returned to the loose brick and slid it out. Within were his clothes from St. Jesus… or at least the bloodied jacket and pants of his running suit get up. Without shoes and with his hospital gown as an undershirt he was fairly ready to split.

The absurdity of the day was far far far from finished. For some reason, Cosmo had just straight up forgotten about the elephant in the room that was the elephant in the room. So once a rumbling coupled with loud smashes blessed his ears he looked up with a look of dull surprise. Such dull surprise became mild bewilderment as the walls came crashing down and an actual elephant smashed through in a violent fashion. His first reaction to look back at the guard that had saved him with a confused gaze and then to look back at the elephant to just confirm his own suspicions. Cosmo was willing to suspend his disbelief only so much, especially when it came to the world he lived in.

When the elephant's rider was thrown to the ground in a probably lethal fashion, Cosmo couldn’t help but kneel down to the poor man. As a medical professional, his first course of action was to voice his concern, “Where did you get an elephant—How did you get an elephant?” Of course, the concern was not even remotely about his health. He was dying, and there really wasn’t much Cosmo could do about it.

The elephant that had stormed into the room shortly after Rory, the overzealous prison guard who merely held the aspiration of one day becoming a warden on Gesso Island with enough repute to carry him easily into retirement, had alerted the not-prisoner as to his desire to boost himself off of this opportunity for the sake of not only saving a life but making his easier. He had just been able to say everything he had to and listen to the rather pale, bleeding, figure before the elephant had crushed everything and presented themselves with quite a predicament. At the time Rory was only thinking "Oh Color! An elephant's here, there's an angry elephant, and elephant just smashed down the steel doors, that elephant is bloodthirsty, it just killed a man! It tore through those walls like nothing, it can make an escape like nothing, it can make a loud and interesting escape like nothing!" The idea was wrapped around Rory's mind in the form of a "good one."

"Okay. We should make this quick and simple, I should rather. Get on the elephant, I'll try and steer it, and it'll take us out of here. I'll give you a hand." Rory finished ordering and then stormed up to Cosmo to manhandle the caffeine addict onto the grey beast who only protested after he began to feel the weight of Cosmo's bleeding form. Rory tried to gracefully grapple himself onto the back of the elephant but it is a rather difficult task to get onto a horse with elegance, let alone a massive grey war-beast that in many ways makes any sane beast frightened. In the end Rory was able to get on top of the elephant, seating himself in front of Cosmo, with no injury to him, the grey monster, or his blue haired charge. Now was when things became intricately more difficult, how does one steer an untrained elephant? The creature that every army wanted to perfectly weaponize for the sake of assured victory. Is it simply a matter of ear-tugging? Or a task dependent on firm vocal commands? "Turn around!" Demanded Rory, figuring it to be the easiest thing to try out. To his surprise success was easily achieved.

On the other side of the prison, not so much the other side but the main exit of the cell-area, the choke-point had been constructed well and the Kolor Kidnapper Klub's members had been held at bay from attempting to escape as they knew it would be met with the promise of all kinds of clubbing from every direction that would render any one of them defenseless. Rushing through like mad animals would achieve nothing but create a pile-up of bodies. Paint Transposer wasn't ready to lose any of his color thieving companions, he was forced with considering and inevitably calling for a retreat of all forces, something his kidnapping klubmembers tentatively accepted as they moved back slowly and eventually quickly. Their impromptu leader headed back for the cafeteria, thinking it would be the best place to find some color and improvise some weapons or another that could be used to reject the prison guards that stood in their way.

The mess hall, the cafeteria, the lunch-grounds, whatever you called it one thing was certain about this certain, Gesso Island, food place. It was white, dull, and a place that a resourceful leader could make great use with. Transposer was adamant in pressing this point to the klubmember that had stepped up to lead with him rather than be lead. The man with the blood of a hundred tourists on his hand looked on the scene rife with metal with a certainly frightening visage, he ended up commanding his subordinates to begin removing the color from the bodies on the floor and searching for anything of interest in the adjacent kitchen and food store. He walked up to one of the many benches before detailing how they could be broken down into battering rams or shields, and he wanted both. The formerly dead and bloodied white room had been transformed into a hive of activity as the sixty or some-odd number of pure white inmates began to get to the work of their noticeably larger and more menacing, painted, leader.

It was rare that Cosmo was taken aback by the rather odd forces of his own world. Of course, he never reacted all that much. His pulsing headache was made all the worse by Rory’s reasonable shouts, so he was at least glad once that was over. With his ear ringing, he simply stated, “It’s one hell of a thing, that’s for sure.” He frankly stated in what could be described as his astonishment. Given everything, he figured the plan was going to be “avoid the fucking elephant and leave”, but common sense was usually missing from his adventures.

Cosmo blankly blinked at the suggestion of this stranger just riding the elephant, he didn’t even want to acknowledge the fact that he wanted him to ride along with him. Still, Cosmo shook his head, “I think I’ll be better on foot; it’ll be quicker and more sane that way.” He frankly stated, before getting ready to turn away and go through the trouble of getting beat half or perhaps fully to death on the way out of the prison... in a bodybag. Of course, that plan was thrown out the window as Cosmo felt sharp pains and a lack of ground under his feet. With his own two eyes, he had seen the elephant violently throw off its previous rider, and with his own two ears he heard Rory’s spiel about how awful of a creature it was.

He wanted this to be a nightmare. Cosmo could understand the need for speed in a moment of true urgency, he honestly could. However, it was really hard for him to be reasonable when faced with what could best be described as complete and total agonizing agony. He clenched his stomach and let out a high pitched shriek that made the whole ordeal more cartoonish than dramatic. He sweated and spat blood as he tried to stabilize both his life and his footing.

Once he was stably on the elephant he grid his teeth and gave Rory a look of true and severe distaste, I never asked for this!” He bitterly spat as if it were his last breath out of hate, although his tone was a bit higher pitched from a voice strained from a high scream. He sat himself, making all sorts of terrible crunching sounds which were probably more painful to endure. Despite having just yelled at Rory, he couldn’t help but lean forward against his back for needed support, ”I really don’t know why you want to overcomplicate our deaths.”

Rory was still unsure of what limits he had when it came to controlling and manipulating the wonderful ivory monstrosity beneath him, although the creature had been pretty efficient in driving itself out of the concrete room and toward the already stinking bloodied corridor it had thundered through before. It was one of the few times where the overzealous and young prison guard asked himself "What am I doing?" quietly enough so other people didn't think self doubt was in his character. Before risking any more danger he decided to figure out just how much control he had over the elephant that seemed to have some modicum of training. "Stop!" Was the order he shouted, just to ensure he was heard. To his sudden displeasure the elephant seemed to gain speed rather than slow down, it's body rapidly heading to the all too low hanging concrete archway, the remnants of them at least. He decided to flatten himself onto the back of the charging mount giving a quick, "Get down!" to Cosmo as some helpful advice.

His fears did not come to pass, however; the drab concrete was much higher than he had originally anticipated and preemptively avoiding had been nothing but an unnecessary and purely cautionary measure. As he tried to reposition himself on the elephant Rory was busy planning ahead, some estranged amount of confidence and zeal returning to the boy as he decided to finish the escape plan he'd started. "Don't look on the downside of this, guy, I promise I'll get you out of here if it costs me your life." Was the overdue reply prison-guard kid decided to give Cosmo now that he had the chance. That reply was given a few seconds before Rory decided to try "Right!" With more success than his previous attempt. The gray and differing shade of grey sign above the incoming doors, and on the walls attached to the door, read "mess hall." It probably would have been hard to notice considering Cosmo, Rory, and the Elephant slammed through it with, probably, too much force and speed.

Paint Transposer had been busy minding his own business, managing the resources the KKKlub members were looting from the abandoned facility within the rioting prison. It was a great haul so far since his kitchen expedition group had returned with a variety of hidden away, colorful, fruits and vegetables that could be processed for vibrant shades if they were freed from the prison environment. "Corruption, why do you taste... so... rich." Was all he could sum up when he thought about the whole situation (of course the people nearby looked at him funny for speaking to no one but himself). It was he who first noticed that the rolling earthquake he was hearing, he didn't want to believe it though, was coming nearer and nearer. His first thought was, "So they didn't lie about rampaging pachyderms?" just before the very menace in his imagination stormed right through a non-barricaded door wall. It was pure carnage from then on, the resistance he thought he would be able to raise against the prison guards who faced him was ripped stomped to pieces in a matter of seconds. Half his forces had been liquefied into puddles of bone, flesh, and color obsession. Fear was something that took over in most everyone 'cept him. He could only watch as the elephant rampaged through the mess hall, getting closer to him and his precariously placed colorful fruit hoard.

While Rory’s self-doubt was able to avoid the ears of the bloodthirsty prisoners who were still caught off guard by the elephant, his words still reached Cosmo who was still bleeding all over him. For a moment, Cosmo’s low shuttering stutters were silenced as he tried his best to formulate a sentence. Cosmo was somewhat sympathetic, not because he was some cauldron of self-doubt but because as he was a crock pot of just general doubt. Although he was far from sympathetic enough to be particularly tactful, “I’d… I’d really like to know that, myself…” He rather loudly prodded at Rory’s self-doubt.

But before Cosmo could go on a spiel that would inadvertently attempt to tear down the broken Rory, he was violently and literally taken aback by a sudden stop and one of the laws of motion. He was dizzied and tried to stabilize himself and ended up falling backwards at an angle. Thankfully for him, the elephant’s tail was there to violently swap him back in an upwards position that brought his teeth into the surface they were supposed to duck to avoid in the first place.

Dazed once more, Cosmo fell back into Rory. Through the disorientation he was able to grasp what he was saying about their exit,“I have utter faith in at least one part of that plan.” He blankly replied. While he was sure he wasn’t going to live, as well as being pretty sure of Rory would also die, he was also sure that no matter what they were not going to be leaving this jail... even in a multitude of pieces. Still, he was able to start adjusting to the absurdity of the situation. So once Rory shouted “Right!” in an attempt to get the elephant to probably go left, he held on tight and managed to avoid falling off for once. Still on the way to the mess hall, Cosmo managed to violently shake and swing around in rhythm to the elephant's movements, causing all sorts of bits within him to be shaken loose.

Yet...

Regardless of Cosmo’s negativity regarding an outlandish negative and exceptionally unreasonable situation, things were at least appearing to go swimmingly in a very loose sense. That was unless you happened to be one of the folks in the way of the rampaging elephant, then it was the exact opposite. Not believing in Karma, Cosmo looked onto the carnage with a neutral stance of “…” of a more distributed verity. There was once a time where Cosmo would’ve said that the race of men was the most evil animal of the face of the Earth, but after spending five minutes with this elephant he knew otherwise. There was no remorse from the beast, there was nothing, nothing bug cold rage. Looking at the elephant he could feel that its rampage and the resulting carnage was only just beginning.

With obvious concern he focused his attention back to Rory, "Hey, guard..." Cosmo weakly spoke in the weakened tone of someone who had been through great physical harm and a fair bit of mental strain. This whole time, Cosmo had a lot on his mind, but as a result of the violent shaking that came with riding an incredibly enraged elephant he had yet to find a window of opportunity to ask his question. Now seemed like as good as time as any, lest his problem bother him for the rest of the five minutes of life he probably had, "I don't mean to tempt fate, but... How are we going to get off the elephant if we get out?"

In the midst of the crimson-stained cafeteria, whilst a disappearing mist of blood lingered in the air, a young prison guard was learning about the carnage that mass and gravity could produce. His mind was torn between sympathizing with some of the prisoners, a few of which he never though as "that bad," and wishing to pursue his incredible method of carrying out the mission he gave himself. It didn't matter what won out in the end, the deed had already been done and the grey demon, of an elephant, had become enthralled in an almost blood lust as it consciously attempted to step on as many scrambling people as it could. The massive mammal seemed to have been releasing a rage it had held for many, many years. It could have been all of that or the monster was busying itself in fear as it might have been trying to avoid and run from the screaming prisoners only to fail miserably in its efforts. The inevitable was a phrase Rory whispered out, "What have I done?"

Rory's plan might have come with the consequence of many indirect murders, but it was also undoubtedly extremely effective. He, or at least the elephant, had been able to clear the cafeteria of all but one living prisoner in a matter of minutes. The blood-covered legs of the large grey animal was still for now, a few moments of some kind of queer "tranquility" that was so easily forgotten in the short-lived and recent panics. "Get off...? I... I don't think it would be a problem for that long. I mean, our steed might not have been stopped inside this prison but I believe that on the outside the Gesso Island forces can do something about this. Hell, we might even find this guy's owner and then the entire crisis would be resolved." The young guard spoke with an almost whimsical timidness, his hand slowly patting the beast he sat upon like some kind of calming gesture. The elephant began to move again, shortly afterward, and began to make his way towards the last standing man on ground level, "It was a blood lust."

It was at this point in time Rory had any honest sense of regret for the actions he had made up to this point in time, at least what he's done today. The idea that every death he had brought about on his mission had actually been his fault rather than a freakish accident was almost mind shattering to the kid who had, for so long, thought he lived an honest and good life with only the desire for an easy life pushing him on. In a few short seconds his grey leather mount had approached a notorious, but unrecognized, Pain Transposer and proceeded to quickly mash a leg on the suspecting criminal. As it stomped on the escaped prisoner the elephant sent many things into the air, among them a steel bowl of fruit, pieces of previously dislodged bone, and more blood. The fruit that used to be in the bowl ended up showering the elephant's riders, a decent enough distraction for Rory's consciousness to capitalize on.

"Color! I swear some of those fruits would have fallen into my mouth instead of pelting my head." Rory shook off the few small berries that clung to him and resolved himself to complete his mission, it was relieving to focus on such a simple task. "Left!" Was firmly shouted and a few moments later the elephant began moving towards another wall that had a gap filled with doors.

Rory was just taking this time to reflect on his mistakes and really review himself as a character. It was the sort of thing that needed to be done by oneself, and without the outside opinion of another. Of course, Cosmo didn’t really hold all that much regard for concept like self-reflection, instead he was quick to jump in and just hammer in the mass of atrocities, “You’ve done something horrible. Something unspeakably horrible.” He flatly replied, as if Rory had asked if they should order a pizza from the Gesso pizzeria.

Once given an answer for his last question, Cosmo found it rather unsatisfactory, “If the authorities couldn’t deal with those Kraken guys, what makes you think they can deal with an el—“ He began, only to pause once he saw the elephant pause and slow for a moment. His usually half closed eyes were widened and he realized what that the elephant was not merely boorishly stumbling around and causing mass carnage, no, it had a real killing intent. The last man standing soon wasn’t, and Cosmo uttered a low, “Oh…” Under his breath in a tone that echoed a emotion greater than mild unsettledness. If anything, it backed up the thought he was previously having, “W-w-what makes you think they could deal with this?”

He sighed and looked up, so he would no longer have to see the carnage he was sadly a part of. As always, he looked up at the wrong moment. His mouth was only slightly agape, and that seemed to be enough. One of the fruits that had been thrown into the air was on his way down doing the apparent raining. Cosmo’s eyes widened further, only to be shut seconds later. There were many fruits in the air. There were grapes, there were pears, and a few bananas, but yet it was none of those heading towards the schmuck’s face. Instead, Cosmo was coming face to face with the king of fruits of itself, a damn durian. Thankfully for the durian , it was already red so Cosmo's blood wasn’t going to stain it and decrease its market value.

There was a loud whack once the fruit came into contact with Cosmo’s face, and it split at the seams. While he his face was promptly punctured, his shout was quickly stifled by the gaudy green innards of the fruit. He lurched forward, although it wasn’t enough to shake the fruit loose from his face; the various spikes of the rind were able to provide a firm holding on his face. Still, the taste of this mysterious fruit was so unspeakable, that Cosmo managed to cough it all the way down to his gullet where he would finally be hit by a rather strange feeling. There was a common adage in the world, “It’s like swimming, you never forget”. One of the strange feelings that had hit Cosmo was the sudden disappearance of a lifelong skill he had known since he could remember.

While Rory saw it fit to complain about the berries, Cosmo was violently coughing as he had gotten a large portion of the swirly fruit down into the lungs. Between every heaving wheeze seemed to be a syllable of a word, the end result ended up being something along the lines, “Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!” Although, nowhere near as coherent. But before he could actually say something coherent, Cosmo had to throw caution to the wind as the elephant was instructed to violently jolt in one direction. Both luckily and unluckily for Cosmo, the fruit itself decided to go in the other direction. While his face was free from the fruit now, it could have left his face a bit more gracefully.

There was a loud crash, a loud and obvious crash from the perspective of the rather ignorant Rory and company. The elephant had great success when it came to the task of demolishing things in its way while also preventing its riders from getting crushed and otherwise frazzled by the material that could have fell on them. At this point in time the elephant seemed, for lack of any more fitting phrase, pumped up. It decided to release some kind of triumphant call from its trunk much akin to some kind of trumpet blast one would find in some stoic fanfare, such a fanfare that did not fit the scene that the prison guards behind their blockade were seeing. Rory was glad, even if his compatriots weren't, that they were so close to an exist. So glad, in fact, he decided to take a nice deep breath before turning to where he knew he and the prison patient could escape from. He was distressed when he noticed the fully manned blockade filled with a variety of people he had busied most of his public service career brown nosing to.

Shortly after Rory came to notice the one last obstacle in the way of his mission, so to did the bloodstained grey war animal that began to saunter towards some of the people it had recently discovered. Rory quickly thought of the potential that this beast had to ruin everything he had worked hard for in his young life, all the superiors he had gotten to like him would surely hate him or be unable to give him the clout he need if they were dead or otherwise beset upon by an elephant because of his actions. He was hasty in the production of more of his actions, deciding to jump off of the elephant and begin a disoriented run towards the blockade, all the while the massive mammal indifferent in his eerily paced canter. Rory ran up to the start of his blockade and began with a loud, "Guys! Get out of the way, that beast has gone mad, we need to call the army to slow that thing down. Nothing here's going to stop it, just start retreating and we can build a better plan."

None of the other guards reacted, most deciding to stay firm as a sense of overconfidence had pervaded the group since they had managed to hold back a threat they considered far more horrifying than the blood covered elephant. They were totally unaware that the beast had killed in a few hours what Paint Transposer had in ten years. It was only after the elephant was juuust behind Rory that their confidence had been overridden by the fear, and smell, from the monster before them. Rory took a breath of relief, it was his last. The elephant was then able to continue on its way, a bit saddened by the fact it was unable to catch up to the runners but still undeterred in its desire to hunt after more people. It stormed out of the prison, through the hastily built barricade, with a Mister Cosmo S. Periwinkle on its back.

It was obvious that Rory never got any respect, from anyone and certainly not Cosmo. He was the lowest of the low in his organization, he was out of place, and obviously not the sort with the potential needed to even rank up even once. What made it worse was he was part of an origination that was held in such low regard. Young men always wanted to be Marines, working through the ranks and becoming the Fleet Admiral that keeps the world safe was as common a dream as wanting to be the King of the Pirates. But there were few who wanted to guard the prison of Gesso. Rory was the Zeppo of Zeppos, and his bravery was going to be easily forgotten, because Cosmo was still on the elephant and the elephant was still on a rampage.

Cosmo tried his best to grip and hold on to the elephant. He was dizzied by a combination of the violent bobbing, the blood loss, and the head injury. He had a list of things to concern himself over, but one of the things he didn’t have to worry about was negligent homicide. Unlike the halls of the prison, there was plenty of room for people to get out the way of the raging elephant in the white streets of Gesso. Of course, folks were too caught by the majesty of the animal, and the splashes of red covering its colorful rider to really do anything about it. It was all a show to them.

In the hour since he woke up, Cosmo had undone weeks’ worth of medical treatment he had received. Still for a second there was a saving grace; Cosmo caught the scent of coffee on the air, but yet he knew it would only be a moment of glee in a day that was otherwise hell. Cosmo quickly threw away that thought once he realized he could still smell the coffee, and that the elephant had come to a complete stop. He opened his eyes and looked down to the elephant had calmed significantly, and was casually eating from a sack of coffee beans.

He looked down in a bout of confusion. He thought, maybe he could slide down the elephant’s trunk and get some coffee. About to go through with that plan, Cosmo shifted forward a tiny bit. The elephant quickly reacted by using its trunk to pick up some coffee beans and bring them up, handing them to Cosmo. Cosmo smiled and accepted the pure beans, because in the end, coffee was coffee, no matter what state. They were both one in the same. They were two individuals who were addled by the inconvenienced that was caffeine withdrawal. Perhaps, it was like finding a dog, this elephant was meant to be Cosmo's lifelong friend and companion... if only he still had the beast handler trait.

The happy ending was quickly ended as once the elephant had had its fill, the elephant violently screeched and roared as it momentarily got onto its hind legs and stomped down in a threatening manner. Cosmo was thrown off guard and dropped the beans he was about to partake in. The elephant smacked at the Marines who finally arrived to deal with it. One of the marines stood his ground and readied his rifle, the elephant wasn't having it, it quickly snatched up the marine with its trunk and ate him on the spot. Of all the elephants in the world, this was the one Cosmo was stuck atop. The Marines scattered, afraid of what the elephant was going to do next. Cosmo knew, because he saw what it was looking at…

The construction site, its next target.

“Oh no…”
