On the morning of the first day of a new month lied Lucy, sleeping peacefully like a sleeping beauty. That is, until the sounds of knocking came through the door of the hotel room that she slept in. "Miss Holland! Miss Holland! You have a call waiting for you on the Den Den Mushi!" a youthful voice shouted from the other side of the door, demanding to receive the nurse's attention. Lucy's eyes opened as she was awoken, letting out a small groan as she sat herself up and stretched her arms. "Miss Holland! Are you there? Miss Holland? Hello?" the voice persisted on. Still a bit drowsy, she left her bed and made her way to the door, opening it to reveal a fellow marine officer holding a small snail that was used as a communication device. Lucy lifted up the shell and answered the call. On the other line was someone who she wasn't quite expecting to hear from so early in the morning. "Hello...?" the nurse spoke. The voice on the other line spoke, causing Lucy to wake up entirely. "Hello, is this Lucy Holland? This is Captain Lucas speaking, I hope you're fully awake now," the captain responded in a deep, husky and masculine voice. Lucy affirmed that it was her speaking. "Great. I have some official duties for you to handle today now that you've arrived at Awestralia. I've paired you up with a fellow ensign for your assignment today. Your duties are as follows: meet up with your partner and supervise a parade that is taking place today. Over the recent months, disappearances have been reported whenever the parade takes place and no one is able to figure out who or what is causing these kidnappings. Protect the civilians and make sure the everyone is enjoying it. I've also assigned a few petty officers to accompany you - you'll find them all over the town so interact with them and see if you can figure out anything," the captain explained. Though Lucy would have preferred to be greeted with breakfast first or perhaps a welcoming visit, an assignment such as this was something that she would have directly taken on at any time of day. "Sounds great! Any idea on who or where my partner might be? Also, what time of day is the parade starting at?" the nurse inquired with curiosity. "His location is currently unknown, though I'm sure you'll encounter him at one point or another. I believe it's someone you've met before, so you'll be able to recognize him upon seeing him. That's all the time I have to converse at the moment, good luck with your duties, Miss Holland," Captain Lucas finished. "How did I get stuck with this job... Oh sh--!" the captain grunted, soon realizing that he had complained about his job without remembering to hang up the Den Den Mushi first. Once the conversation ended, Lucy thanked the marine officer for coming to deliver the message. He blushed and hurriedly scattered away into the depths of the hotel. With a lot of time at her disposal, she closed the door and headed towards the bathroom. The nurse stepped out of her pajamas and entered the shower. Once finished, she dried herself off and changed into her marine clothing. 'Hmm, I wonder what the parade is going to be like~! ♫" Lucy happily sang to herself as she left the room. She made her way out of the hotel she was staying in and basked in the sunlight of the bright and beautiful morning; the birds were chirping in the peach trees that were stacked in rows along the roads, civilians were stepping out of their homes and shops to pick up the newspapers and open the shops while volunteers were already beginning to prepare for the parade. Everything was looking lovely until the sound of Lucy's stomach grumbling roared. "Well, I guess it's best to get some breakfast first..." she mumbled to herself silently. Roaming around the city a little more, Lucy was beginning to understand the full extent of the people's architectural designs as they had literally incorporated peaches into everything. Peach signs, peach shaped buildings, peach shaped goodies and even the typography on posters were made to resemble peaches! How and when did peaches become such an integral part of the community? Oh, how Lucy's curiosity peaked so high upon seeing the city in the day time. Within moments, she had stopped at a small little cafe known as "Starpeach." It was petite, but looked very welcoming and seemed more of a local business than anything. With hunger taking over her slowly, she stepped inside. |

"I'm not sure why, but I always enjoy hitting up the local diners, just for the sake of weighing my food against theirs." He was seated rather comfortably as he looked on, flipping through the menu to see their selection; peaches seemed to be the order of the day, every day. It was a bit of an understatement to say that these people both overused, and were innovative with peaches. Peach pie, peach cake, peach popsicles, peach ice cream, peach slush, and, oddly enough, peach steak, whatever that was supposed to be. While there were some instances of non-peach related food, it was clear how dominant the fruit was in this little eatery. "Aya, is there anything else to this place other than peaches? It's starting to get a bit ridiculous now." He hand't exactly read up on just what it was that prompted to make the orange fruit such a central focus of this place. He didn't know their customs, any sort of areas of interest (aside from the parade grounds, to which he was supposed to do business in), and failed to even know who were over the island. So it wasn't exactly hard to say that he was a bit too out of touch with his environment to really blend in with the crowds as well as he wanted to. But, at the end of the day, not knowing this trivial details wouldn't be enough to stop the player from completing his assignment; he only worried that his partner would screw things up. "Hello sir, welcome to Starpeach, were the greatest of seeds grow. Are you ready to be served?" The chef took a few moments to look over the waitress, his eyes tracing over her features carefully; she seemed a solid eight, if anything. She had just the right curves, fair Caucasian soft-looking skin with no blemishes, and interesting blue eyes and short black hair. "Aya, aya, that depends wholly on what you're serving, miss." He smiled up at the waitress, lowering the menu so that his eyes could meet her's, before closing it and setting it down, offering her a friendly smile. "I'll take a peach omelet and you're den den number. Hold the lengthy details." Now, normally, these lines probably wouldn't have gotten most people all that far, but it was his voice that really caught this woman off guard. He was smooth enough in his pitch to catch her, and now it was just a matter of casually reeling her in. She replied with a smith and a light laugh, nodding before walking off again. "Mira, was it? Hmmm..." He couldn't help seeing her name tag applied to her rather endowed bust, and certainly wasn't going to forget it just for that reason. It was worth knowing name of the person you tried to snag, at least, after all. Plus, it was a name befitting of a woman of class, which was a good bonus. The marine sat there, flipping through the menu again. He couldn't help but think that the reason for this sudden mission was only because of the fact that they needed some random low-end marines to deal with the petty stuff. However... "Kidnappings are fairly serious, especially at such a large scale. Aya, I can't help but ponder who or what could be doing this... I mean, why kidnap people in a island that worships peaches...?" It was always annoying to deal with large cases like this. Not only were there moments where you had to essentially chase around a large pool of culprits for the sake of finding the one 'who did it', you were also forced to go through huge piles of paperwork, the likes of which the suave marine was none too happy about doing. But, then again, maybe he could just pin the paperwork on the partner he was supposed to be getting? It sounded like a good plan a round about now, and he figured he may as well use it. But thinking about it, who was his partner supposed to be? He hadn't bothered to ask when he was given his duty, and it seemed like telling him wasn't really worth the higher-ups time. But that was pretty ok, he was fine with a partner, so long as it wasn't the types that were ensigns that got defeated by one person when they were in a group; those lot were just pathetic, and he had no clue how they were even able to get their rank, much less into the marines. "Ah, here you go sir, whipped right up in a jiffy." The marine yawned, then offered a coy smile as he looked up at the waitress, watching as she set his plate down before him. "Tell me something, before I eat this, is it any good?" She simply smiled back, nodding casually as she looked him in the eyes. "Oh sure, it's very good. I even asked for this little bit to be extra special, just for you." This was teasing at best, and she chuckled afterwards. "Ah, good, glad that's settled. But i'm not all that hungry for food right now...care to feed me some conversation miss Mira?" She sighed, taking a seat for herself across from him after pulling out a chair, resting her elbows on the table as she set her chin on her hands. "Please don't call me 'Miss', it makes me feel a bit older than I'd like to be. I mean, we're both around the same age, aren't we?" The marine mimicked Mira's position, looking her in the eyes as he smiled at her. "Every woman needs some sort of respect given to them, don't you think? I like to think that the title of 'Miss' gives a much more regal tone to it...though I suppose that's just me." He chuckled, before smirking. "Though...I guess...since you asked nicely...I could stop with no problem." He sat back, taking a much wider view of the woman before him. "Well at least you seem like your heart's in the right place, so that has to count for something." She chuckled, shaking her head. "Though a man as handsome as you who talks so well has to be the worst of the worst. I wouldn't doubt that you have a new woman on your sleeve every night." The heart thief simply smiled, taking a fork and knife and cutting up his food, taking a cautious bite out of it. It tasted like an omelet...that had peach flavoring. Though it was something that he really should have expected, it still took him off guard. Not because it was terrible, but because it was delicious. It seemed to blend the two very different flavors of omelet and peach together perfectly. Now, whether it tasted like a desert or a nice breakfast melt was a question that his skills in cooking simply wouldn't permit him to answer. "Aya, aya, aya! This food...it's risen far beyond my expectations! Who...or what...cooked this?" The waitress laughed, shaking her head. "To answer your question, I did." "How?" "I put my foot in it." "Yes, yes, I know. But i'd like to know exactly how you did." "Well, first, I took off my shoes ans socks, and then put my foot in. It's a pretty easy process." "I see...does this mean I have a foot fetish...?" |

"Oh my gosh, this is so gorgeous!" the nurse bursted out with amazement. If Lucy had the opportunity to ever meet the interior designer of the restaurant, she would praise them till no end. An analogous colour scheme was utilized throughout the entire restaurant, with refreshing colours of green, oranges, yellows and brown as its entire accent colour. The tables were shaped like peaches, the chairs somehow resembled a peach tree and the utensils and plates were in the shape of a leaf that would hang off of the actual fruit. Entering the restaurant simply gave anyone a feeling of calmness and tranquility - it was simply exquisite. As Lucy waited by the entrance, a greeter walked towards the her. "Hello and welcome to Starpeach, where the greatest of seeds grow. Would you like to be seated, ma'am?" the man said in a politeful tone. The nurse nodded her head in agreement, and the man extended his arm to allow her to head first. As Lucy headed towards her table, she looked around the restaurant in wonder yet again, still unable to fully take in the true beauty of the restaurant. Unfortunately, her not paying attention lead to her downfall. Literally. The nurse accidentally crashed into a waiter working at the restaurant, falling on top of him while the plates he carried came crashing down onto the ground. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry! It was a total accid--" Lucy cried out hastily. As she put on her glasses that fell off, she was able to see that the waiter she had crashed into was quite... gorgeous to put it simply. He was tall, had short dark brown hair, deep brown eyes, and a build that appealed to most men and women attracted to the male gender. The nurse lifted herself off the waiter, fixing her uniform along the way. "That was my fault! I'll pay for everything, I'm so sorry!" she continued. It seemed as though Lucy was blushing endlessly - she had refused to look at the waiter as she was afraid to see his reaction. Instead, she picked up what remained of the broken plates and glasses and placed it upon the try he was holding. The waiter let out a small chuckle and rose up from the ground. "Haha, hey. It's perfectly fine, don't worry about it. It was partially my fault too. And I'm the one who should be sorry for running into a beautiful woman such as yourself," the waiter smiled. When Lucy saw his face, her heart just fluttered away into the skies, into the galaxy and beyond. She bit her lips out of nervousness, unsure of what to say or even do. "So, mind telling me your name, miss? If it's something you'd rather keep to yourself, I totally understand. You must get a lot of guys asking you everyday if you're that charming," he flirted as he picked up the remaining broken glassware. "It's L-L-Lucy. Lucy Holland," the nurse mumbled under her breath. The waiter chuckled again with a smirk on his face. He stood up with a majority of the glass on the tray on one hand, and with the other he extended it out towards Lucy to help her up. The nurse gladly accepted the offer and stood right before him, noticing that he was of great height. "Well then, Miss Lucy, it's truly a great honour to meet you. The name's Eric von Chevalle, but you are free to call me Eric. Derek, could you take this back to the kitchen while I serve Miss Lucy at her table?" Eric said to the greeter, who gladly accepted the order. The two then proceeded to go to her table, which was conveniently located right beside the window with a fantastic view of the city life. The nurse sat down and Eric sneakily grabbed a menu from another table and presented it to Lucy, who was a bit too happy from being served by a man of his looks. "So, what can I get for you today Lucy? Our special today is the peach pancakes served on a peach shaped platter" The nurse flipped through the menu, overwhelmed with the amount of options that were available. If she could, she would simply order everything on the menu and try them all bit by bit! Though, secretly she wanted him on a platter, though that was something she couldn't say out loud. It was far too dirty for an innocent girl like Lucy! "Uhm... I think I'll have the peach pancakes with peach syurp along with some hot peach tea served on the side," the nurse ordered. "Excellent choice, your order will be ready in just a few moments," the waiter commented. He soon left, leaving Lucy all alone waiting beside the window. She peered out into the distance, blushing at the thought of the waiter. Oh, how he was so gorgeous! She simply couldn't understand how someone like that could exist - it's almost as though he came straight out of a romance novel! Moments later, Eric had came back with the food and placed it before her. The irregular thing about this was the fact that he sat down as he did. "Excuse me Eric, but shouldn't you be working instead of sitting down with me?" Lucy pondered with curiosity. Of course, it was obviously unprofessional of him to do such a thing but at the same time, she wanted his company to be around her. "It's alright, the boss doesn't mind at all! Say, are you busy today? I'm getting off in a couple of hours and I would love to be your escort to the parade today. I heard there's going to be a lot of events, so maybe we could spend the day together," Eric asked politely. Upon hearing that, Lucy almost spat out her tea as it had just happened so suddenly. A beautiful man like Eric was asking a clumsy girl like Lucy out on a date? They had only just met moments ago and he's asking her out? Oh, how all of this seemed like a grand fairy tale! "I'm s-s-sorry, but I can't! I have official marine duties to attend to today. Trust me, I would love to but I can't! I'm going to be watching over the parade though, so maybe we'll just happen to s-s-stumble upon each other?" the nurse replied back with a saddened expression on her face. Slowly, she ate the pancakes with a playful sorrow. Regardless of how delicious and tasty they were, it was unable to compete with the fact that Eric remotely showed the slightest amount of attraction to her. "Don't worry about it, I totally understand. I'll definitely see you there, though maybe we can postpone our hangout to another day?" he said with a dashing smile. Hearing him say that with that face just made her heart flutter into a million of butterflies. Lucy totally wished she could hear him say that over and over again. "Of course! I would be happy to hang out with y-y-you any day! Anyways, I've got to get going! I've got things to do!" the nurse exclaimed with glee. Once Lucy was finished with her meal, she placed all of the utensils back on the plate in an organized manner and left the a sum of beli along with a big tip for Eric. It was undeniably fantastic service. The nurse thanked the waiter for being so kind to her and apologized yet again for crashing into him. She soon left the table and proceeded to walk towards the exist. As Lucy was doing so, she waved goodbye to the Eric and unfortunately walked into a wall. Taken back by surprise, she fell backwards and landed on her back. Immediately, she stood up and scurried out of the restaurant to avoid any further embarrassment. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. Is this actually happening? Did that actually happen? Ah! I can't believe how cute he was!" she muttered quietly, her heart beating loudly. Was the event what they called 'Love at first sight!?' |

The waitress laughed at his joke, though he was certain what he said wasn't funny at all. In fact, he only said it to see if she would actually laugh; it wasn't meant to be funny, just to see if she would laugh at his jokes, no matter how awful they were. He considered this a success. Now there seemed to be a commotion. It was odd how it started up, really, but it certainly was interesting. A blonde girl (ugh, why did she have to be blonde?) seemed to be engaged with some male waiter in the restaurant. She was blushing, her responses obviously hinting at the fact that she was, indeed, quite flustered in this guy's presence. Weird. He didn't figure that any self respecting man would work in this sort of place, though it may just be that island they were on had nothing but places like this. After the entire scene ended with the girl running into a wall and then running back out, the young marine couldn't help but think that he was very bored with the situation. Also, though he didn't get a very good look at the woman's face, he was sure that something about her reminded him of someone. Though who it was exactly, he had come up empty. "Well well, that was something, wasn't it? I can't help but think that guy sure has a bit of luck today." He eyed the woman across from him carefully, waiting to see if she would laugh at this, too. She didn't, probably because this may not have seemed like a clear joke to her. He disliked the company of girls like her when it came to conversation, but that's certainly no the only reason as to why a man would have a nice long chat with a beautiful woman. "Well no, I wouldn't say that. He usually has a lot of women go for him." Gee, that sure sounded nice. At the back of his mind, the chef was certain that this particular woman was wooed by him at some point. "My father, the owner here, hired him for that very reason; he's really good for business you know." Well that made sense. It was common place for restaurants to hire the physically attractive; after all, people tend to be drawn to that sort of superficial thing. Him included. "So, tell me more about yourself. Your name would be nice." The purple suited player stood, dusting his suit off and stuffing his left hand into his coat pocket, slamming it down on the table and looking towards the exit. "Tolero Sera, marine Ensign. I'm investigating the case of kidnappings on this island." He removed his hand, revealing an amount of beli that totaled the price of food he had ordered...plus a tip. "I think I should be going, but before I do, can you tell me anything about these particular incidents? I don't need much, just any info you have on the matter." He was much more serious now, and it showed in his tone, though his appearance looked just as indifferent as before; he was sure hoping that he could get everything he needed from the woman here, though that may have just been asking to much of both the woman and whatever god in the world. It was clear that she should have been taken aback by this sudden outburst. A blush here, a shaking of the head, and it was starting to become obvious to the marine that he wasn't about to get any good answers from this woman. A real shame really. He sighed, offered a slow wave goodbye to the waitress, then headed for the door. "Wait! Hold on, wait. I do know something about the incidents, though i'm not sure whether it will be useful to you or not." He was stopped in his tracks, turning and retaking his seat. This was an interesting development, as it meant that he wouldn't have to do quite as much searching as he would have otherwise. "Aya aya, well let's get down to business, shall we? Tell me what you know." There was a pause and she nodded, sighing to herself. "Well, I'll assume that you know about how frequent these kidnappings are. But do you know the time? They always seem to happen at night, around the time between ten and midnight. Actually, now that I think about it, it's commonly done around midnight. Usually. There are some moments where it doesn't follow the trend, but it's always at night." That made sense. Things like abductions aren't usually done in plain sight, and only the crazy or the immensely powerful would do otherwise. This was something he already figured, but it was always nice to have someone narrow down the time frame for you. "Though I don't really know most of the people that were taken, I do know that they get taken without a word, no noise, no nothing; nobody knows that these people are gone until it's way too late." "Oh. Well...is that all you know?" She blinked, and it didn't take long for Tolero to realize just how much tact he had lacked at that moment. It wasn't meant to be anything negative, but he realized that he had most certainly errored in his presentation. "I, uh, just want to make sure you're done. Sorry if I'm rushing you, but you could understand how bosses can get if you're too slow." She shook her head smiling, and he was relieved that he was able to go through this without having any real problems. "Right, I understand. I also understand that you're a bit disappointed that you aren't really getting much out of me." Shit. So she wasn't quite as airheaded as he had first assumed. He supposed it didn't really matter, but it would certainly be somehting he would have to take into account now. He had two choices; lie or come right out with it. Well, because he didn't have any time to string together a web of lies, he opted to go with the latter. "Yea, you're right. I am a bit disappointed. Though I can honestly say that I appreciate the thought." She giggled, shaking her head slowly. "I hear honesty in your voice. Alright, then I'll tell you something else for being honest. Another marine came in here asking questions as well, but he was so rude and impatient in the way he did it that I couldn't help but think he wasn't suited for this sort of task, you know?" Well, there was certainly a lot of marines who were incompetent in the world now of days. He could understand her disinterest in not helping someone like that. "You see, one of the waitresses that worked here went to the festivals with me..." What?! This meant that this particular woman was both a friend of an abducted, as well as a potential witness. What she had to say could end up being a testimony! But he had to keep his composure, as he wasn't sure exactly what she had to say would be; and losing his cool now may just lose his lead. "Well, this is certainly some big news. It sounds like what you have to say could be a key piece of information. Evidence, basically. I'm all ears, tell me what you know." She smiled, and he wasn't sure if it was due to his very 'business like' way of talking or the fact that she would find herself a 'key' person in a real live massive investigation. Whatever the reason, he knew that she would give him everything she had. ...at least in terms of this case. "Alright, so me and my friend, Ana, were at the celebration with that waiter you just saw a minute ago, along with a few other workers here. We were celebrating the restaurant finally getting a four star rating, and were really out to have as much fun as possible." A pause and a darkening of the face. The marine couldn't help but wonder what that was all about, as she seemed rather perked up a minute ago. He just didn't pick up on what she had just said leading to a complete mood change. "Um..." She shook her head, looking him in the eyes. "There was a man following us. Or, at least, keeping an eye on us. He wasn't following us in the general sense, but there were times where he would just be right there, all the time, right ahead of us, like some ghost. His eyes were pretty scary. He was, uh, a worker in the celebration. I've seen him before, a real creepy guy that lives near the Peach Palace. Um...I can get you a map." She got up, heading through the door in the employee area, coming back out quickly enough to hand him a map. "Thank you Mira. But I have to be going now. This information you gave me...can be a huge part in this case..." He got up, nodding his head towards her and smiling. "Now do I have to wave goodbye again? I sure hope not haha..." She shook her head. "No, no, that's fine. See you around Mr. Tolero." He headed out the door, his new lead fresh in his mind. |
