Shinzui sat up straight in his bed, his eyes running wildly all over the room as he tried to pin point the exact location of his body in relation to various known landmarks. The last thing he remembered was sitting in a bar, drinking vodka by the liter and working for some bigwig on some desert island. Hoping that it wasn't it a dream, the pirate looked around once more as his eyes refocused on his surroundings, and was disappointed to find that it was in fact a dream seeing as how he was in some random room on a random ass ship. What's more, his head was hurting as if someone took a sledgehammer to it a couple of times. Flopping back down, the entertainer tried to remember what the hell had happened to him. Well, first of all, based on the headache, he must have ingested huge amounts of alcohol the last time he was awake, wherever that was. Second of all, based on his surroundings, he somehow must have left the merchant ship and gotten back on this one. As it slowly came back to him, the titan remembered how he found out that the merchant ship was actually going back to the blues and seeing as how he did not particularly care about going back to the blues, he had decided to leave the ship and test his luck somewhere else. Fortunately, the ship was still at the docks and Shinzui being his usual self, decided that he might as well steal some random ship from the docks and strike out on his own. The opportunity presented itself in the form of a small between-islands ship that usually held about five people and would now hold a single man and his pet bug. While the owner of the small ship protested the intrusion, a punch to the face quickly changed his mind, not that there was much of his mind left to change, the grey matter splattered all over the dock. Giving the island the finger, the pirate set sail into the great unknown, having no idea where he was heading, hopefully not into the blues. That night the entertainer was pleasantly surprised to find several cases of hard liquor stashed below deck, hidden underneath some netting in the hold. After promptly chugging down one of the cases, the titan collapsed unconscious onto the bed. Shinzui smiled at the memory although the smile quickly became a frown as the headache reminded the man of itself once again. Rubbing his eyes, the pirate rolled out of bed and flopped to the wooden floor with a thud. Groaning, the entertainer raised himself on his elbows and then onto his knees. He wanted to go higher but unfortunately, the room did not have high ceilings, or at least ones high enough. While he could have certainly destroyed the roof to expand the living space, the resulting opening would invite the rain in and that was something that the titan did not want to deal with. That the sun beating down onto his head. Putting his clothes on as best as he could, the hybrid crawled out of the room and onto the deck. Sighing contently as he stood up and stretched his long-ass limbs, Shinzui was once more pleasantly surprised to find an island on the horizon. The pirate frowned slightly at the realization since it meant that he had spent more than one night unconscious. From the looks of it, at least three nights and two days. Feeling his stomach growling only confirmed his theory. It was certainly not a pleasant sensation considering his very dry lips. Ducking back into the cabin, the entertainer rummaged in the kitchen for a few minutes before coming back out with a bottle of water and some sort of meat. Throwing some of the meat towards Uncle Boris, who was basking in the sun on the bow, before sinking his teeth into the sweet and delicious meal. Glancing towards the island, Shinzui figured he would be there within the hour if not sooner. Granted that he was not a navigator, he had enough experience on the high seas to roughly estimate the time of arrival. Finishing the meat, the pirate washed it down with some water before leaning against the cabin wall and watched the island as it slowly drifted closer and closer by the minute. “Land ho, Captain!” yelled a generic male voice from above. Awoken by the yelling, Sonny slowly peeled his aching eyes open, but instead of seeing his room on the Oblivion's Fist before him, he saw rows of metal prison bars; iron from the looks of them. “Great, an all too familiar sight.” sighed Sonny as he recalled his imprisonment just before meeting the Juggernaut Pirates for the first time. Being used to this kind of situation, Sonny was not surprised to find his hands already tied behind his back with seastone cuffs. As he quietly became familiar with his surroundings, he could hear soles of leather boots slapping against the wooden steps of the ship's stairs. A voice from the stairs echoed throughout the bowels of the ship.“Finally awake are we, Mr. Candy Man Rook?” The man's whiny voice stood out to Sonny. He had heard it somewhere before, but where? Trying to recall his hangover-inducing night on Romulin, Sonny was able to remember bits and pieces of what had happened after he had a little too much fun with the smoke shop owner, Pappi. However, he still wasn't able to piece together how this man fit in with all of it. Trying to get a closer look at the man on the staircase, Sonny stood up and shoved his face in between the bars. Having grown stronger and more determined since his last imprisonment, Sonny could now easily ignore the burden of seastone cuffs. Did they take away his devil fruit powers and make him weaker? Sure, but now he could stand up, walk around, and maybe even hold his own in a fight if it came down to it. “Marine, I assume?” questioned Sonny after realizing it was too dark to tell who this person was. “You really did have a rough night, didn't you?” replied the whiny voice from the stairs. He stepped forward, revealing his pasty-white, scrawny body to the light before speaking again. “Yes, I'm a marine. Ensign Roberts is my name. I know you hit your head pretty hard on those church steps, but I didn't think you would completely forget who your captor was.” At the mention of church steps, Sonny suddenly remembered his voice yelling at Sonny from behind as he climbed the steps to the Remulin Mafia's church and main headquarters. “You must have been really hopped up on something bad to have gone down so easily, huh?” slyly chucked Roberts. Sonny, however, didn't find this as amusing as the ensign. “Captured by an ensign, seriously?” This thought further increased the pain already in his head. “So what, are you taking me a marine base or perhaps bringing back to a prison in the blues?” he questioned. The scrawny ensign chuckled again, “No, no, no. You've accumulated quite a large bounty, Candyman Rook. Much too high to be contained by any regular prison again. No...Impel Down is where you're headed.” Sonny's eyes shot wide open at the sound of Impel Down. Only the hardest of criminals get thrown away there and from the little things he has heard, it's worse than hell. “IMPEL DOWN!” shouted Sonny angrily while clenching his teeth. “Relax. We aren't there yet. You still probably got a day or two left before you're put away for good.” replied the ensign as he approached Sonny and took a seat on a crate across from his cell, “You see, my crew is mostly comprised of ensigns, thus, our ship barely fits the requirements to even sail the Grand Line. We'll be borrowing a ship with a seastone hull at this next island so that my crew can turn you in personally and gain prestige. You're not exactly a popular man, Candyman. I expect at least ten commendations for each of us for your arrest.” Sonny pulled away from the bars and sat back down on the wet, wood floor. “So they'll have to transfer me from this ship to the next ship, huh?” thought Sonny, “Well, then that's exactly when I'll make my escape!” He titled his face downward to hide his mischievous smile. Meanwhile, another marine came running down the stairs. “Captain needs the entire crew's help to dock and anchor the ship. We'll be at Iron Knife Island in just a few minutes.” With that, both marines left Sonny alone in his cell while he plotted his escape. |

By the time the ship finally reached the island, Shinzui had finished off the water and had gotten out a bottle of liquor, halfway through it when the side of the ship gently bumped into the pier. While there were people milling around the docks, quite a few actually, the ship did not have any jolly rogers nor was the pirate's bounty that high, relative to the rest of the Grand Line pirates, and so the entertainer was largely left alone. Finishing off the bottle, the titan threw it overboard and picked up another one before stepping onto the dock and trying the ship to one of the posts, Uncle Boris getting out as well, his scales cracking as the lumbring beast stepped onto the wooden dock, the structure groaning slightly at the combined weight all in a small area. With the bottle in hand, Shinzui strolled towards the end of the dock where it entered the real part of the island, the crowd giving a wide berth to the duo. No matter how curious the two looked, no one really wanted to deal with the oversized bug. Seeing a notice pinned to a post at the end of the dock, the pirate closed in on his target. Moments later, the titan arrived at the target, curious to see if anything it said would affect him in any way. In a way it did for it mentioned the fact that the island possesed a decent sized Marine base and any criminal activity would not be tolerated. As much as he wanted to scoff at the notice, the hybrid had to strenly remind himself that this was the middle of the Grand Line and the Marines here were not as much of a joke as they were in the Blues. Plus, he was on his own right now and if he got caught, he wasn't sure that Uncle Boris could succeed in rescuing him. After all, anyone who managed to capture Shinzui would be more than enough to take care of the giant bug. Maybe he could use Uncle Boris as a distraction and get away. After all, anyone wiuld be distracted seeing a giant bug lumbering their way. Taking another swig of the liquor, the pirate stepped off the dock and onto the island, this part of it refered to as the handle. First things first, he had to get some more substantial food into him. After all, the piece of meat from the ship could hold him over for so long. Fortunately, as Shinzui would later find out, this was the island of chefs and so food was never far away no matter where on the island you were. As he wondered a few dozen meters into the island, the pirate was assaulted by the multitude of delectable aromas that seemed to emanate from every point of the island. Everywhere he looked, the hybrid saw stall upon stall of food in various different flavors. What was interesting was that it seemed that almost every stall was competing in something, whether the most customers of the best stake. And from what the titan heard from the masses around him, there seemed to be some sort of a grand competition taking place on the island and all the chefs were invites to join. Not particularly caring one way or another about the competition, Shinzui soon stopped listening and just followed his nose to where it led him. And it seemed like his nose knew what he wanted, leading him to sake stall which served fish as well and was staffed by cute waitress and waiters. Yes, definetely what he needed. |

As Sonny plotted an escape, the ship finally docked at The Handle of Iron Knife Island and in a matter of seconds, Ensign Roberts and five other men armed with pistols, rifles, and swords came down to transport Sonny safely from this ship to their next. “Don't try anything funny.” said Roberts as he opened the cage and let Sonny stare down the barrel of a pistol from only a few inches away. “C'mon. Let's go.” Because Sonny was cuffed by seastone, he wasn't able to simply transform into his candy-like body to avoid the pistol fixated at his temple. He wasn't stupid enough to risk taking a bullet to the head, especially when he barely knew where he was. “I'll play along for now.” he thought as he let himself be escorted out of his cell. Marines lined up, both in front and behind Sonny with none other than his captor, Roberts, holding onto Sonny himself. Although they were measly ensigns, this was military training at its finest. The way they surrounded Sonny as they walked, made it very difficult for him to escape. As they made their way out of the bowels of the ship and onto dry land, a variety of delectable aromas suddenly bombarded Sonny's nose from all direction. Sonny hunched over as his stomach grumbled in agony. It had been too long since his last meal and visiting this food island was a torturous way to send him off to Impel Down where he would never receive a decent meal again. Taking notice to the loud growling of Sonny's stomach, the marine crew all quickly fixated their eyes on him. “Keep moving, Rook” ordered Roberts as he pushed the barrel of his gun closer to the back of Sonny's head. Sonny looked up with a distressed look on his face. “Can't I at least get a little bread?” questioned Sonny to Roberts, “Consider it my last request...please...” Roberts looked at Sonny in a pitiful sort of way, but unfortunately, he wasn't going to give in so easily to his request. “Tough luck, Candy Man. Keep going.” Sonny tried once again to sway the stubborn marine. “If not for me, do it for your crew.” he said as he motioned his head toward the crew who looked equally as starved as Sonny and equally as excited to try some of the island's delicious food. “Look.” Sonny began again, “I'm going nowhere as long as you keep me cuffed, right?” He shook the seastone chains from behind his back, making a rattling noise. Being such a not-so-bad guy, Roberts finally gave in. “For my men, then.” he said, “But no one give any to the criminal. Remember, we're still marines and still on duty!” All of the marines grew excited at this news and in unison saluted and replied, “Yes Sir!” before marching off to the variety of food stands and shops that made up the island. Sonny let out a sigh of relief. “At least this will give me more time to escape.” he thought as they marched off toward a fish & sake stall. As they came closer and closer to the stall, Sonny took notice of a large, wait no, long man sitting at the stall. “Could it be?” thought Sonny as he looked quizzically at the man. Before long, they were close enough to tell who the man was: Shinzui. Luckily, they were coming up from behind Shinzui and from what it seemed, none of the marine either knew who he was or could tell who he was from looking at his back. But this sparked an idea in Sonny's head. “Hey, Shinzui!” yelled out Sonny when they were only several yards away from him. After Sonny's capture, the marine crew brushed up on any bounties related to Sonny; including those of his previous crew. So naturally when they heard Sonny shout the name of his former crewmate, they all took notice of the man before them with the giant bug, Uncle Borris, by his side. Almost in unison, each of the marines drew their weapons and focused their attention on Shinzui. “Don't move Shinzui Hokousha! Interfer with the transit of our prisoner and we will not hesitate to cut you down!” shouted a marine from the front lines. Using Shinzui as a distraction and opportunity, Sonny ducked down to get out of Robert's gun's line of fire, and then with a quick sweeping motion of his leg, he caused the ensign's legs to buckle underneath him, knocking him on his ass. And with that, Sonny was off; quickly running away from the marines and into the large crowds on Iron Knife Island. He used the crowd of people as a sort of safety for him. If the marines tried to shoot him, they risked shooting an innocent civilian. Now Sonny's only problem was how he was going to get these seastone cuffs off. |

Shinzui was almost salivating by the time the neared the concierge and was ready to be seated. Granted it did not take long to get through the crowd when you were a hulking monstrosity with another one right next to you. Neither did it take long for the pirate to be seated, although it did take a couple of minutes to find an area big enough to sit both the man and the beast. When he was finally seated, the entertainer did not waste any time ordering half a dozen bottles of sake and a dozen plates of grilled tilapia. As the drinks arrived first, the hybrid grabbed one and downed it in seconds, reaching for the second one and this time sipping on it slowly as he waited on his food to arrive. Two bottles and a faint buzz later, the plates had finally arrived. Tossing four plates of fish to Uncle Boris, the titan started on his own food. The first two plates disappeared quickly within the humongous body before Shinzui slowed down on the third plate to actually enjoy the taste instead of wolfing it down. As he was halfway through his fifth plate, the pirate's fork suddenly stopped on its way to his mouth when he heard a familiar voice call out to him. Glancing back, the entertainer caught the sight of Constantine's carpenter being surrounded by a squad of Marines. Spying the tell-tale signs of what he supposed were seastone manacles, the hybrid understood why Sonny did not simply get away from the Marines himself. Not that he appreciated getting pulled into someone else's mess. The titan sighed and placed his fork onto the plate as one of the Marines called out to him. Shinzui did not know what rank these Marines were, but if they could capture the candy man, then they held some sort of power in their hands. He would have to be very careful about this. He certainly did not want to get captured as well, which could be likely if the Marines possessed any more of those seastone chains. As such, his best chance was the element of surprise. Picking up another bottle of sake, Shinzui tipped it back and chugged it down before suddenly dropping the bottle and lunging out with his left hand, leaning his body back a bit so that his hand could successfully get wrapped around the nearest Marine's face. There were several cries of surprise as the hand managed to grasp one of the Marines' firmly cross the face. Turning around, the pirate was kind surprised himself that it worked. Maybe these Marines weren't all that cracked up as they appeared. Which kinda made the titan question how Sonny managed to get kidnapped. But that was a question for another time, a time when he wasn't getting hounded by Marines. Focusing of the Marine in his hand, Shinzui did notice the carpenter cut the legs from under the same Marine that addressed the pirate before running off into the crowd. Well, it really did seem that these Marines were not that highly ranked after all. This is gonna be fun. Smirking, the entertainer squeezed his hand swiftly, easily crushing the Marine's head before reeling in his arm, Marine still in hand, and tossing the body to Uncle Boris, who promptly ripped the man into two pieces before stuffing him into his mouth. While the bug was performing such unspeakable acts, the hybrid got off the chairs and rushed at the Marines. Only two of the five remaining Marines managed to get a shot off, but one veered far and wide while the other safely bounced off the titan's armor. Making a thin blade out of mercury, Shinzui coated it in a thin layer of haki before plunging it into the nearest Marine's chest. As the man gurgled his last breath, the pirate let the blade simply dissolve away as he straightened out and sent a kick at another Marine. The latter managed to somehow duck out of the way but the Marine behind him was not so lucky and kick connected solidly with the man's chest, sending the body flying into the nearest solid structure. Bringing his foot back around, the entertainer stomped down on the Marine he missed, his foot punching a hole in the man's chest. Looking around, the hybrid saw that by now the crowd had given them plenty of room and the last Marine was trying to escape by running away. A small part of him wondered why he only saw five Marine instead of six, but he did not particularly care where Robert's had gone off to. Putting his fingers into the shape of a gun, the titan concentrated his power in his hand and fired a 'bullet' into the fleeting man's back, easily bring him down to the ground. Straightening and brushing down his clothes, Shinzui walked away from the stall, making sure to toss some beli onto the table, the crowd making a tunnel for him and Uncle Boris as the pirate went to find Sonny and get his seastone manacles off. After all, you could easily sell them for a decent amount of money. Edited by Spirit, Nov 4 2012, 10:51 AM.

Sonny bolted through the crowds, not really caring who he trampled over to get to freedom. However, because of the seastone chains, he was slightly slower than usual and his ability to turn into a candy man was gone. “First things first.” thought Sonny as he pushed past a small mob of chefs, “Gotta get these cuffs off.” As he made his way through the crowds, he couldn't help but notice the great number of chefs and lines of grills along the road. It was as if the entire island was one giant picnic or food festival where every other square yard, another person was grilling something different. “Maybe I can try to pick the lock?” he said to himself as he quickly changed directions and headed toward an empty grill. As he stepped behind the grill, he quickly realized there wasn't much for him to use as a pick aside from a few paring knives and a skewer. Using his mouth he positioned one of the skewers at the end of the counter, next to the grill. Then, looking like a fool, he turned around and backed up into the end of the skewer in an attempt to get the skewer in the lock of the cuffs that held his hands behind his back. Unfortunately, because he wasn't able to see what he was doing, the skewer instead stabbed him right in the ass “Ah, the fuck!” yelled Sonny as he jumped forward in pain. As he turned around to confront the enemy skewer, he soon realized there was a mob of people watching his little “show”. He stared back at them for a few seconds, wondering what the hell they were expecting, until he heard whispers coming from the crowd. “Is he really going to cook with his hands tied behind his back?” “Genius!” “I wonder what he'll cook!” At a moment of weakness and confusion, Sonny decided to just go with it and leaned over to grab a spatula in his mouth. “What have I gotten myself into...” he sighed. |

As he walked inside the crowd, Shinzui could not help but notice the hungry glances that were trained on Uncle Boris. But the pirate was not too worried. If any of them really wanted a piece of the bug, then they would have to get it themselves, which would not be an easy thing in any meaning of the word. After all, Uncle Boris knew how to use those pincers of his very well. Plus there was his whole armored body that any potential chef would need to worry about. And if there was someone who could take on the bug, then they would have to contend with the entertainer, himself a force to be reconded with it. And if there was someone who could take on even the hybrid, then fighting would be he last thing on their minds, quickly replaced by running away. Hmm, perhaps he should send his pet back to the ship as to avoid drawing any more unneccesary attention. Granted that he himself was not the most inconspicous person in the crowd, but still. There was one problem though, if he sent Uncle Boris back all alone, then that would probably increase the chance of the poor bug being captured and turned into a special meal. After slowly meandering through the crowds in search of Sonny, Shinzui finally spotted the man attempting to what looked like cook. The entertainer did not know that the carpenter could also cook, not that he was ever in the kitchen so he could not say whether Sonny was a chef or not as well. In the end it really did not matter for what was even more interesting was that the carpenter was trying to cook with his hands still tied behind his back. As far as the hybrid could see, here were two problems with that. First, even if Sonny was a chef, would he be able to cook with pretty much only his mouth? And two, even if he could, wouldn't the weakness the seastone shackles provided throw in a monkey wrench into the plan since it severely weakend the body? True, Sonny did not look weakend, but maybe it was just a show for the crowd. Then again, he was a wanted pirate, why the hell did he decide to cook in the first place instead of trying to get shackles off? Either way, this should prove entertaining. |

Sonny nervously looked at the crowd and the crowd looked back at him. “Play it cool, Sonny” he thought to himself as he bent his head down and picked up a spatula with his mouth. “Today I'll be cooking with no hands!” he tried to mumble with the spatula between grinning teeth. Not really knowing the first thing about cooking, aside from making food hot, Sonny tilted his head downward and move his head in a jerking motion to fling a steak onto the grill in front of him. “Tadaaa!” he nervously smiled. Needless to say, the crowd wasn't impressed. In fact, his show seemed so dull that the crowd was quickly dispersing, leaving him alone. However, as the crowd left, Sonny could now see a tall, long figure only meters away from him. “Shinzuuu!” muttered Sonny excitedly before spitting the spatula from his mouth. In a mad dash, he ran over to Shinzui. “I knew you could handle those goons, haha.” joked Sonny. He really did know Shinzui could handle them, so he didn't really feel bad for throwing the guy under the bus, but he also knew his relationship, hell, anyone's relationship with Shinzui wasn't very good, so he knew that little stunt might have complicated things even more. “Look, I can really use some help here, bud.” pleaded Sonny as he motioned toward the shackles around his wrists. To be honest, Sonny knew Shinzui was cold enough to leave him for dead, but he hoped maybe he could find a way to appeal to the longarm/longleg. “C'mon man...just find a way to get these damn shackles off me...” he anxiously thought to himself. Meanwhile, a familiar figure parted through the crowd. “WAIT! CRIMINALS!” shouted ensign Roberts as he pointed to both Shinzui and Sonny with loaded pistols. Naturally, townsfolk and chefs alike hit the ground running as soon as they saw pistols drawn and the mention of criminals. Everything was quickly turning into pandemonium. |

Shinzui smirked as he watched Sonny's 'performance' at the grill. It was horrendous to say the least. Then again, he did not do much to embarrass himself, other than being seen as a fool, so the entire thing was probably wasn't as much a failure as it could have been. On the bright side, with the crowd's interest dwindling by the second, most of them dispersed without a couple of minutes from the start of the 'show'. True the crowd was still there, technically, but they were merely passing them by and not paying the trio any attention aside from a curious stare now and then thrown both at the giant and the bug. With the crowd leaving them alone, the two pirates stared at each other for a couple of moments before the carpenter suddenly exclaimed the entertainer's name and dashed towards the latter, drawing a surprised quirk of the eye brow from the titan. It wasn't everyday that someone was excited to see him even if it was false happiness. The hybrid frowned for a moment at the mention of Sonny basically leaving the former to the wolves but the frown disappeared as soon as it appeared. After all, as much as Shinzui did not like being used as a scapegoat, the incident did provide the pirate with fun, no matter how short it proved to be. In the end, fun was fun no matter the dose. A smile found its way onto the titan's face when the carpenter asked for the former's help. Just like with happiness, people usually did not ask his help with anything. And while the entertainer did not really know Sonny too well, at the moment the man was the most liked person he knew, besides Thalos-kun, but this did not say too much. Although, if he did decide to help the carpenter, then the latter would certainly owe Shinzui for the help and the pirate certainly liked having people owe him so that he could call on the favors whenever it pleased him. Oh yes, he would certainly help Sonny, but now the question was how. The answer seemed to present itself almost instantaneously. The entertainer's smile widened even further when the remaining Marine Ensign had decided that he could handle both of the pirates all by himself. And that was very poor decision. From what he could remember from the brief melee, the man in front of him seemed to be the leader of the group that had somehow captured the Candy Man. And if that man was the leader, then he would probably be the best person to go to with regard to getting the key to unlock the seastone shackles that bound the carpenter'rs wrists. Turning around, the titan calmly regarded the man before him. Placing the fingers of his hand into a shape of a gun, Shinsui pointed it at the Ensign. "Why don't you give me the key to the shackles and nobody will get hurt?" the pirate asked the man, a creepy smile on his face. He really wanted to blow the Marine's brains out. |
