is it possible to make custom traits that upgrade the potency of mooks acquired through fame, in case you wanted to be someone like Buggy and just have a lot of really strong mooks. What i was thinking was a 1 trait upgrade that increased all of a mooks stats by 5, with the possibility to advance it by 5 with further upgrades. t has been displayed in one piece that there are varying degrees of mooks. Notably don kriegs mooks were strnger than the mooks of the Floating restaurant Baratie, which were implied to be stronger than traditional mooks. |

I would say no. If you(not you, anyone) can strengthen your mooks, there's not much stopping you from going around and picking off starter or near starter level crews with an army of strong mooks since noteriety =/= sd. |

Currently, no. Mooks are as they're meant to be mooks and nothing more, they can fight against the average civilian easily but they're not meant to be a real fighting force. |

way I see it one of the advantages of mooks is that they can fight against other mooks. However if we go by NPC marine listings by rank all ensign rank NPC's are starter characters, that means that a single ensign marine with 0sd is superior to most of your mooks. Unless we are doing away with NPC marine rank by sd counts. |

Thats the way its meant to be. Ensigns are officer class. An officer should not be a mook. Starter characters for that reason are not mooks because they slightly above mook status. Mooks however are being taken into consideration, thats all I can really say on the matter. |

Since this is already a topic about mooks, i have two general questions i would like to ask about the fame based one. 1: What are the rules about them wielding weapons? Do they come with iron swords and flinklock pistols, or do we have to buy them and any other weapons we want them to use ourselves? 2: For certain professions such as chef, entertainer, or even doctor that raises their allies stats through techs do they also raise the mook's stats? Such as one has a tech that raises their crew/allies strength by 20 for anyone who could hear it, would a mook be affected by it as well? Edited by Keiri, Jun 8 2012, 03:30 PM.

No mooks are not effected, that would make them a bit too powerful of a weapon. And yes its assumed they come with very basic weapons, and I do mean the most basic things imaginable. Though I could be wrong on that one. |

Are we able to upgrade their weapons though? If so when we give them guns to fight with is the upkeep added onto our character's or the ship's. |

Mooks are able to make use of whatever weapons are lying around. It's assumed that at any given time you have enough iron quality swords and low-caliber guns for them to make use of, and that if they need to they can grab a crowbar from nearby to pry open a door, or something similar. Mooks don't really get upgraded in any notable way in our system; they're all equally as useless, but you get more and more, and later on you can rely on the numbers for things like scouting, distractions, and other strategic values. They're not meant to be able to really FIGHT, mostly to throw themselves at people and die horribly, or to do some tedious bit of work you normally would have to, like breaking into a place and pillaging it. |

Alright, i was checking because as pirates and other characters get farther into the GL i would assume that the mooks they fight would naturally grow stronger too. Just wanted to see if there was a way to improve our mooks to hold up against other mooks, with at least a chance to win if they aren't out numbered. |
