True, in a degree. But One Piece is a manga/anime. OPRP is a game where we create characters so that we can "live" in the One Piece world that Oda has set forth for us. So the question that all of us is asking is: "What would it be like if we were really in the One Piece world with techniques such as Haki and powers such as Devil Fruits?" The answer to that question would be: "Not everyone can be a Rocket Scientist in real life nor find something like an oil supply to be mined just as not all people can learn King Conquers Haki and all people find a Devil Fruit; so just as it would take hard work to become a rocket scientist (do SLs to receive traits to be able to do a SL to learn the different forms of Haki from someone who know them after having heard of it first) surely that would mean that the chances are most of us would not find Devil Fruits (a mine) and that even if we managed to find one it would still not mean it would be the fruit we would want (wanted diamonds but ended up finding a gold mine)." |

Well if you think about the number of pcs we have compared to the number of pcs everyone includes in their sls the number of people that have dfs and haki is still a very small percentage. Think of it this way for every sl about 100 random mooks are generated, now compare that to your one pc who may or may not have something special about him. See the point? Everyone who is "amazing" is still in a very small scope from that perspective. |

Not only was that not a question any of us are asking, but I'm sure the answer would not be nearly so convoluted and that it would not arbitrarily equate effort to random chance, which is not even related to what you are proposing. It seems like you're imagining the site as the manga, when you yourself said they are different things. In summary, this idea is neither logical nor beneficial to anybody, so there's no need to continue arguing for it. |

No one was arguing. Edit: I completely get what you're saying, Dark. Just that since this is a game that would mean PCs take precedence over NPCs in the majority of cases. What I'm trying to say is that an air of "chance" or "luck" should always be welcomed in a game because why play a game knowing you'll be getting this item or you'll be facing that villain or even that you will win. Defeats the purpose. I believe that misfortune is the best thing when it comes to role-playing; because it's when things don't go your way that you're truly challenged. There are no such things as "inconvenient"; there is only the next hurdle to jump over. But like I said. Just a suggestion. Edited by Chizzah, Mar 7 2012, 01:11 PM.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/argument In broad terms a frown can be a call for revolution. But none of this is relevant. |

You call it an argument. I call it a debate. Same thing but also different in a sense. Yes, debating whether this was an argument is irrelevant. Edited by Chizzah, Mar 7 2012, 01:21 PM.

Well, as everyone has already so aptly pointed out, decisions are made OOC that affect your character IC. While your character doesn't know what's coming, you certainly do. It's just a matter of how RPs function. If you want some surprise (as long as it isn't too burdensome), I'm sure a staff member can help work that in for you. However, the overlying answer is: Not everyone wants their character's fate to be determined by a dice roll. Some do, and that's okay. We can always try to work with you to make this a more enjoyable place. Back to my original point though. I'd be happy to gather a pool of devil fruits for you if you wanted to take that roll. Or you can provide a pool yourself and I can pick them out for you. Though, at the end of the day, it all comes down to "did he earn it?" so, no, you may not roll anything higher than what you can afford in terms of traits. The pool would consist of only what you can afford. Our old RDF (random devil fruit) was a 3-trait point trait that would give you the chances of getting anywhere from a tier 5 to a tier 3 fruit. We have done away with that and are not looking anymore to reward anyone with a fruit that that they haven't earned. You'll still see some lucky people who have fruits on their characters from RDF for less traits than they're worth. C0n's character, Blaise Frost comes to mind. |

I enjoyed having my t4 fruit for the price of a t5. RDF was a bit op that way lol. Though your idea for randomization of fruit does sound pretty cool too, though leans quite a bit towards zoan. | ||||||||||||

Thanks :) Yeah it would have been nice because that way it would open up so much more things. Like more PvP battles. Where no one is really afraid of their character dying but are also putting their all in to be the victor. The thrill of risking it all and the excitement of what you might get or not get next. Chips said you can request it but doesn't really make sense for me to do it alone, though. Either way there's nothing wrong with the game as it is now. So it just comes down to personal preference and that reinforces what Chips said about requesting it. |

Just saying..... Anyways, if you want more PvP, go ahead. Have as much PvP's as you want; we're not going to stop you as long as they remain realistic and don't break any rules. But you still have to find someone willing to PvP with you.
What do you mean by this? You mean it wouldn't make sense if you were the only one using the system? Well if you're the only one who wants that system, then it makes sense that only you use it. If other people want to, they could to. |
