It was as if the world had stopped moving. Heather had made her plea and she had been noticed. Her only objective was to remove the large indestructible man's subordinate from the field of battle! She was finally going to do it! Heather was finally going to leave Gesso Island! Heather was so giddy she had to restrain herself from hugging the man. She wasn't paying attention to the marine. She honestly didn't even notice the man slice the red dwarf. Perhaps it was because the slice was too fast for her to even percieve. In fact, most of the people here were incredibly fast compared to Heather. The girl began to ponder on this. She knew no one could outmatch her in brute strength, that notion just seemed silly to her, but she was clearly outclassed in the speed department.

'So this is the difference. This is the Grand Line' thought the girl. Her two braids flowed gently in the breeze and her knuckle duster's sparkled with the light flowing down from the heavens above. Everything around her was gray but it was still alive. This island was truly a gray area. Heather, once a warrior who fought pirates, would join them here. Was she in the wrong? Was it wrong to try to break free from a boring and monotonous life? Heather's mind awoke at these thoughts: 'A boring life is not a life at all. I want to live, and to do that I must chase my dream. My dream is to find my parents in the New World, and there is only one way I am going to be able to do that. I have to become a pirate here. There is no going back. It is bounty or bust!'

The metal giant took off on an incredibly fast sprint towards the marine. No doubt a fight between the two was going to break out. Heather took advantage of the steel man's distraction and made her own break towards Umbert. Her legs stretched and pushed off of the solid ground to propel her small but powerful frame. Heather's body was unique to say the least. Where did all her power originate from? Her petite body was strong no doubt, but how? Heather began pondering her own abilities. Why was she so strong compared to everyone she had ever met? Are there people stronger than her in the world? This marine seemed to be quite powerful, but his strikes seemed to rely on speed more so than strength. He was by far the fastest person Heather had ever seen. His movements looked like blurs to the girl. She wasn't going to be much help in this fight, so she needed to help in any way she can. Saving the short red man would be one of those ways.

OOC: I have permission to control Umbert slightly /OOC

Heather arrived at Umbert's side as quickly as possible. She dropped down to a knee so she wouldn't have to stand over him. Heather quickly crossed the man's arms over his chest on his wound. It would sting for a moment but it would allow her to carry him without worrying about him bleeding out. Heather then rolled Umbert forwards and set her arms underneath him. She then transitioned her legs into a squatting position and picked up her knee. She then lifted Umbert up in a typical princess carry. He was heavy for such a small man. Heather was almost overtaken at first because she wasn't expecting so much weight. "What are you filled with? Rocks?" asked the girl as she exhaled out her nose in a moment of exertion. Heather was incredibly strong, but it was awkward lifting up and carrying the man. She walked him over towards a building. She leaned him up against the wall of what appeared to be a fishing shop. It was really close to the exploded bar, but far enough away so the man wasn't sitting on splinters.

Heather quickly straightened out her back and turned to watch the battle. She was amazed at the site. There was a sudden blur and the swordsman was behind the metallic monster. The metal man's shoulder looked to be dented and bleeding from a powerful slash. It was surreal. Heather's jaw nearly dropped. The invincible metal man seemed to be outclassed in this fight. Heather couldn't have that. She had finally found someone willing to take her off of this rock and she would not let that opportunity go. Heather cracked her knuckles as she walked towards the battle. She wasn't fast enough to confront the marine directly, but she would wait for an opening. Perhaps Samantha or Luther would open one up, or maybe something completely random and strange would. This was the Grand Line after all. You never know what could happen next.

Samantha grit her teeth as the red dwarf charged towards the retired marine. He was foolish to underestimate his opponent like that, even she wasn't sure she could take him and she estimated she was just a bit more powerful than the dwarf. The dwarf, whose name she had gathered was Umbert, Began a viscous chop and swing at the mans waist intending to eviscerate him. However Samantha knew better than that, such a trite movement would be no match for the mysterious and distant swordsman.

"An axe swing towards my waist from my right."

"What the hell?! Where'd 'e go?"

Samantha blinked in surprise as he wasn't alone in his be wonderment for his opponents location. Samantha's eyes lost track of him as well. She grit her teeth as she finally noticed him descending upon Umbert from above. This man, not only was his sense of perception incredibly keen and focused, but he also possessed speed enough that she couldn't even follow with her eyes. She watched in suspended disbelief as he dropped down and began to slice into Umbert's chest.

"Keen Eagle's Eye. I am sorry pirate, but you doomed yourself when you arrived on this island with such violent intentions."

Umbert fell onto his back and tried to raise a counterattack but the man blocked it with his bare hand of all things. It seemed like his axe would chop cleanly through his hand but it was stopped dead save a small trickle of blood. For his efforts he received another grisly slash across his chest and fell down. Now it was the large fellows turn, Reginald started towards his confidently, calmly. Samantha would have to take action too, she walked up near the giant of a man to catch his lines towards Reginald and primed herself for battle.

"Your skills of prediction are remarkable, swordsman. Let us see what happens to a man when he predicts his own demise yet cannot prevent it. XLR8, Serpent Pierce!"

Straight punch with blade to the chest."

Like she expected he dodged the attack and then countered with his own, However she was hoping to use the distraction of his own attack to create an opening for her. She sprouted 4 more arms of hair jutting out of her back and hand them surround where the man ended his movement.

"Don't be forgetting about me you slippery eel!" Samantha shouted as gargantuan fists began to close in on him from every angle. They impacted at the center but she felt no resistance other than her hands of hair. She pondered where he had went when she felt him enter her range behind her. Just as soon as he got in range he jumped back the instant she hardened her net of hair evading her attack. She turned around her arms appearing to arc around her body to act as a standby offense and defense.

"A clever use of your power Samantha, broadcast a seemingly impenetrable attack that leaves your backside wide open, and then wait for me to approach you from behind and then try and trap me with your net. However it's no use, none of you are fast enough to keep up with me."

"Figures it wouldn't work, traipsing around and making fancy plans was never my strong suit, I prefer to just smash you to pieces." Samantha taunted trying to cover the fact that her trap failing was affecting her. She gently began to seemingly float up into the air about 10 meters up, as she gazed down at him. She reared back her arms and began to thrust them towards the ground creating craters of force beneath each fist. He deftly seemed to be moving so fast it was like he was teleporting spot to spot avoiding them all. He jumped into the air Sword extended intending to impale her. Luckily he was in the air now and it was her advantage her.Her body swayed to the side averting her path to avoid his trajectory and intending to let him sail past then attack with a punch from behind.

"Don't you get fucking cocky with me, you think you can best me in the air, in the Kings Courtyard? i rule the skies!" She shouted as she retracted her arms and began to barrel several o them towards his back as he whizzed by where she once was.

Umbert let out a groan as the Marine's katana sliced across his chest a second time. Unable to hold himself up, he fell back with a groan as the blindfolded man stood over him, poised to strike.

Jeez... Umbert thought to himself, wincing as he gripped his chest, ignoring the noises around him. I thought it would get easier as I got stronger. Even with training, this guy put me down without breaking a sweat. What the hell is with this sea? He tried to rise, but flopping down again as gravity took its course. Even that fugly bounty hunter from the mountain was a tough cookie. And he was just an underlin'. What does tha' mean fer the rest of the Grand Line?

He rolled onto his elbows and knees, trying to rise. I'm not dyin' here. I don't care how strong this guy is! I'll kick his ass! But even as he made to turn back to the Marine, his presence vanished, as Luther's clunking robotic body became audible, followed by a high-pitched screech as the marine tried to slice Luther's body, the huge cyborg dropping to his knees with a loud thud beside Umbert.

Suddenly, Umbert felt arms around him, making him flinch as he was slowly lifted off the ground with a feminine grunt. Turning his head, he found himself staring at the brown-haired woman from the bar, who seemed to be having trouble lifting him. Just realizing she was taking him away from the fighting, Umbert protested.

"Oi, put me down! Ah'm not done yet! Jus' let me get a breather." He barked, squirming to get out of her grip, but he let out a hiss of pain as he antagonized the wounds on his chest. The woman put him down, propped up against a nearby wall. As she straightened up, Umbert took a deep breath before speaking. "Don't let tha' bald robot get killed. Tha's my job when ah get stronger. So watch 'is back! I'll be with yeh in a minute..." He slowly started to push his back up the wall, breathing slowly and evenly with one hand clutched to his first wound, the vertical slash down his chest.

As the woman turned back to the fight, seemingly too scared to enter the fray, her hesitation spurred Umbert to get up faster. If she's too scared o' this guy, then I guess I've got no choice! Letting out a groan as he pushed himself off the wall, the pirate caught himself on his feet. He paused for a moment, attempting to gather his bearings as he prepared to enter the fray again. He raised his head, setting eyes on the Marine, before moving forward at a quick but staggered pace. As he reached the woman's side, he stopped and took a deep breath.

"Oi, you chicken? I said help 'em out, not stand there. You comin' or not?" He said without looking at her, his eyes fixated on the Marine, who had passed Luther and was now in a fierce fight with the devil-fruit user.

And with that, Umbert broke into a gentle jog, reaching down to scoop up his axes as he passed them. Keeping one eye on the Marine, who had now leaped into the air to face off against the fierce blue-haired girl, the pirate circled below like a prowling hyena, waiting for his opportunity to strike. In his current injured state, he couldn't jump up to that height; even uninjured, it would be a stretch.

Above his head, the Marine sailed past Samantha again, back still turned as she threw several fists of hair after him.

"Group of fists to the lower back." He murmured, Umbert now able to hear him. With disturbing ease, he weaved his body to one side, several of the the fists propelling past him. Turning all the way around, he raised his sword above his head as the remainder shot towards him, intent upon smashing into their target.

"Air-Splitting Slash." He said quietly, as he slashed his katana through the air, sending a glowing shock wave towards Samantha, disintegrating the pursuing fists and blasting towards her with dangerous force.

However, Umbert saw his chance at this point. After the attack, the Marine slowly began to fall to the earth, his attention apparently still trained on Samantha. Umbert took a deep breath as he widened his stance, twisting his body around to one side and preparing to attack as the Marine fell towards him.

(Roll of 6 - Kept control) "Redstone Hurricane!" He bellowed, as he spun into life, flecks of his blood spitting out of the flurried attack, but continuing regardless, spinning on the spot below the falling Marine.

Just as it looked as if the man would fall into the lethal blades, his attention turned, and he hurried to lower his blade beneath him. His katana struck Umbert's spinning axes with the sound of fierce rattling, like running a metal pole across railings. The marine remained suspended in the air by the power of Umbert's attack, the pirate refusing to let up, whilst the Marine found himself in an extremely vulnerable position.

"This is it, blindfold! This is what messin' with Umber' Redstone is! You havin' fun up there?! GRA-DA-DA-DA!!" Umbert cackled, his confidence returning as he put his opponent on the back foot. The Marine above him seemed to grimace fiercely, pushing down with his katana.

Umbert's momentum began to slow down, and although he was still spinning with deadly force, within a dozen seconds, if that, he would have stopped completely. His ego seemed to be slowing down too, as Umbert's face turned to one of concern as he became more and more visible through the hurricane of weapons. "Oi, what the hell?! Stop pushin' me down, yeh cross-dressin' pinata-player!"

Letting out a growl of defiance, Umbert tried to move in small circles to throw off the pressure from the Marine. It worked to some extent, buying himself a few more seconds, but the blindfolded man remained resolute, pressing down with increasing force.

Feeling tired, exhausted and quite frankly a bit scared Nina wandered through the giant underground cavern, she were starting to realize what the big leathery things were. Thought it didn’t exactly bring any comfort since they were most probably a kind of used egg sac. In that case she worked her hardest to ignore the image of what could be all around her. The whispers that had been so prominent during the fight had once again been reduced to a kind of constant murmur in the back of her head.

The glow coming from her makeshift torch arrow were gradually starting to wane, the mermaid would have to hurry up and find an exit unless she wanted to be trapped down here without any source of light; a prospect she really did not look forward to. Picking up her pace she hurried toward the other end of the giant cavern, leaving the corpse of the monstrosity she had fought behind. The chirping and chattering coming from all around in the darkness suddenly grew extremely excited judging by the tone. As if whatever made the sounds had come to some kind of decision, increasing her pace even further Nina really wanted to get out now.

Then she felt it, an extremely soft draft against her face; a way out must be close! By now the doctor was almost running toward where she felt the wind, reaching the end of the cavern she saw a sight for sore eyes. Before her was the opening of a tunnel, without even thinking of it she immediately entered and begun to ascend, for the tunnel had a definite upward leaning. She didn’t really notice the oddly smooth walls nor the fact that no natural tunnel would go this straight, it had no turns whatsoever.

Soon she came to what looked like a circular room of some sort, even though she really wanted to reach the surface her natural curiosity couldn’t help but noting that the room was man made, the walls had marks from tools and the floor had a strange pattern carved in, almost like the sacrificial marks from the witch cult she and the krakens had a run in with in the past. This one didn’t look like it was meant to sacrifice blood though, since no blood Nina knew of had all the colours of the rainbow and then some neon shades. What kind of strange people sacrificed paint to whatever gods they worshipped?

[Translated from the language of roaches]
Bob: Tuuuuuneeeell~ we’re walking through a seeeeecret tuuuuuuneeell~
Antonio: It’s not secret you know, we walk here every day
Worker 1: It’s the thought that counts right? [end translation]

Echoing behind her were a particularly shrill chirping sound followed by some lower but equally unsettling chirps.
That caused the mermaid to snap back to attention and hurrying through the room before continuing toward the surface, she vaguely picked up the shadows of doors along the side of the main path but she promptly ignored them in favour of reaching daylight again, that and her own arrow light were fading faster than she would have been comfortable with.
Not caring about how it would exhaust her further Nina broke into a straight out run, covering ground very quickly she prayed for the end of the tunnel. As if some higher deity had decided to finally be nice to her the light fell on a stone door right in front of her moments later. Stopping in front of it she looked for a way to open it, taking the opportunity to catch her breath as well.

It didn’t take her long to find a handle and turn it, with the sound of rock grinding against rock the door swung open, what lay beyond were a seemingly ordinary basement, it contained a few crates and a stair leading up but little else. More importantly it was filled with blessed light, very faint but light was light. Giving her eyes a few minutes to adjust she noted that it were suspiciously free from dust. And the door behind seemed to have been cleverly hidden in the wall.

Once her eyes had adjusted to the new light she walked up the stairs and into a white wall, or so it seemed, the combination of everything being white and the strong sunlight caused her to see little. Letting her eyes adjust she then discovered she were in what looked to be a warehouse. She could see a few specks of colour sticking out from some of the crates but otherwise it was completely devoid of any colour but white.

Now that she had finally escaped the accursed tunnels the doctor could feel her calm return, or at least some of it. She also noticed that there were an awful racket going on outside. Walking to the door she emerged on the street, witnessing Luther on his knees, bleeding from a long gash, Umbert in a wild spinning frenzy, blood splattering all around him; his blood no less, above him In the air a swordsman were quickly pushing the bearded maniac to a standstill, the swordsman were blindfolded no less. An unidentified girl stood to the side, at least she thought it was a girl, she looked awfully manly.

Another definite oddity was a woman using her ‘hair’ to shape fists. She knew about devil fruits, you kind of had to if you wanted to travel the grand line. But she had still not actually seen one in action before, having spent most of her childhood coped up on her old crew ship. In the background a demolished bar could be seen, from that she could pretty much guess what had happened, it was hard not to considering Umbert were around.

Pulling an arrow from her quiver she nocked it and drew the bow ”What are you guys doing? It can’t be that difficult to attack a lone swordsman!” Letting fly she intended on hitting the swordsman while he was in the air.
”Arrow from behind” She heard the swordsman say out loud, then something decidedly odd happened. His sword moved so quickly even her eyes could not follow, flashing it neatly cleaved her arrow before returning to supressing Umbert.

[Translation]
Worker 1: She said Attack!
Worker 2: We got an order!
Bob: Yay
Everyone: Banzai! Attack! Go get em!
Antonio: Uh guys, I don’t think that’s what she…Nevermind
[End Translaton]

Suddenly a great white avalanche erupted from behind her, countless pure white cockroaches poured out from the warehouse, flooding the street in moments, they didn't seem friendly. That was to much for her already battered mind to take, Nina promtly passed out.

His body shook, Luther clutched his shoulder. Blood trickled down his arm; it was quite the large wound, but thankfully not too deep. There was no internal damage, at least not yet. A straightforward attack would be pointless, his level of comprehension and reflexes made a physical attack useless. However, not even a man who can dent steel can block an explosion. There was but one option, Luther had to somehow separate himself from the swordsman and fire his mole slug round. It was the only blast large enough to hit the swordsman before he could dodge. But with Umbert and the women from the bar in such close proximity, the blast would surely engulf them as well. Luther looked onward as the woman with giant fists made of her own hair began to assault the swordsman from all angles. If only Luther could reason with the devil fruit using brute, he could use her skills to create a blast shield of sorts and fire the slug into that. But in the heat of battle she was far too primal to try and negotiate with. Besides, it seemed that even she was having a difficult time keeping up with the mysterious swordsman. Luther needed a better plan, and quickly.

Standing up quite easily, not bothering with grunting or staggering, he seemed to be oblivious to his injury. It definitely still hurt, but it was still only a flesh wound. He watched the battle happening in the air between the she beast and the swordsman, watching their movements. His attacks moved faster than Luther could follow, and yet the woman managed to react to his attacks in time to defend herself. Hearing this along with the loud speaking swordsman’s words were enough to confirm Luther’s prediction that she was using a floating network of thin hairs to detect the swordsman faster than her eyes could follow. Luther was hoping that blasting the devil fruit using woman along with the swordsman would not be necessary, but at this point, it had become a last resort. Heather had returned from pulling back Umbert, seemingly prepared for battle. Perhaps she could be of some use, with her great strength and resilience. But then, Umbert returned from the sidelines as well, charging forward for another attack. “Umbert you fool, isn’t being cut down once enough for you?” Luther clenched his teeth with frustration. Not only did he have to deal with the hairball berserker, he had to deal with his hairy kindred spirit.

Now his hand was forced, Luther lost the privilege of standing back and watching the battle between the swordsman and the devil fruit user unfold; now he had to save the idiot from being run through. He held his arms up, his blades crossed over his chest in a defensive X, and moved forward in powerful, fast strides. The swordsman cut the air and sent a shockwave straight into his opponent before falling to the earth, only to land in the wake of Umbert’s fierce spinning attack. In an act that seemed to defy both physics and gravity, the marine managed to block Umbert’s attack in a way that kept him aloft, as if hovering in the air blocking Umbert’s attack. Under any circumstances other than life or death, Luther would scold Umbert for defying the laws of nature. But for now, Luther had to calculate and execute an attack. Not surprisingly, blocking Umbert’s rotating attack seemed quite the task even for the marine’s exceptional speed. Otherwise, Umbert would have been cut down a second time long before now. This gave Luther an excellent opportunity. Just as Luther made his final charge, the doctor appeared; bow in hand, from a nearby building. In a coincidental strike Luther himself couldn’t have executed better, Nina fired her arrow in exceptional timing as Luther came in for his own strike.

“Arrow from behind.” The swordsman said as he pushed off of Umbert’s axe to cut the arrow. But as he came back down and resumed suppressing Umbert, Luther came in from behind. “Serpent Pierce!” The marine exhaled with frustration before pushing off of Umbert’s axes again, his katana gliding along the length of Luther’s blade as Luther’s arm pushed forward. “Did you really think that a second attack would fare any better than the first?” Luther glared in their brief moment of passing. “Not at all…” Luther said as he retracted his blades and aimed his right arm, moving for the button on the underside of his arm. “But third time’s the charm.” The swordsman’s eyes widened as he realized what was happening. Luther hit the button and the slug shot from Luther’s launcher. The swordsman was in a bind, and forced to exert himself for the first time this battle. He gave a powerful spin, aiming to deflect the shot with the edge of his sword. “Projectile from…” He lined up his blade only to witness the projectile split into five separate pieces, and at this range, they would all collide with his body. “… All sides!”

What happened next was a blur for Luther. In a desperate attempt to keep Umbert from taking a direct hit from the blast, Luther dove for the midget and tried to tackle him out of the way. “Umbert, duck now! He shouted as he dove to the ground, hoping to knock Umbert farther away from the blast. And then, Luther somehow found himself surrounded by what felt like a large amount of white insects, and they seemed to be biting him. As uncomfortable as it was, all Luther could do was hope that giant insects made for good blast protection, and hope that his explosives had done some good. Though it seemed they had, as the swordsman now stood on the ground, having actually broken a sweat, only managing to deflect the multiple blasts with a powerful spiral shockwave. “Air-Twisting slashes.” The swordsman raised his blade. “I’m impressed; I may have a real workout cutting you all down. You’ve certainly utilized the haze of war, cyborg, but none of you are fast enough to truly strain my perception.” The swordsman noticed the large crowd of giant cockroaches now flooding the battlefield, but had no words to express his shock, so he did his best to ignore them.

Heather watched as the midget man, who was, admittedly, near as tall as herself, dove into the battle. His blood flew and Heather could swear that he painted the dull street in bright reds on purpose. His blood was boiling for battle, no not literally, but the red coloring seemed to set the battle ablaze. The man's spin was perhaps the most reckless idea Heather had ever witnessed. Not only was he speeding up his bleeding, he was going back for another direct confrontation with the swordsman. Then he mocked her. Heather was used to mocking tones from her sisters but it felt strange coming from a man. She made a note to sock him one good for that later.

The two clashed and the sound of metal ringing on metal hit the area like a thunderbolt. The marine defied the very laws of physics as he held himself up by colliding blades with Umbert. To Heather it was a beautiful and carnal sight as Umbert's blood continually spun off of him and covered the marine as well. Then it happened. Another person entered the fray. Heather picked her as rather small for a warrior, but then again there were some even stranger people on this island. She held her bow at a length from her body and fired a bolt at the marine in an attempt to aide Umbert, but the marine seemed to be no fool. He diced the arrow before it made contact. The arrow however prooved to be a sufficient distraction for the "nearly" invincible man to attack. It all concluded with a rather large explosion and the metal tin can throwing himself at Umbert. However the marine emerged unharmed. Heather couldn't take it. She watched the battle unfold but nothing could harm this marine with his unnatural speed. His sword was leagues above the groups own abilities. Was he the true "invincible man"? Heather didn't have a single point in time where she could enter the fray. It was too high paced and now there was suddenly something tugging at her side. She looked down to see a child sized white cockroach. "Oh it's just a bug... HOLY SHIT THAT'S A HUGE BUG!"

Heather smashed her arm into the bugs body and sent it flying into a nearby building in a large explosion of dust and debris, bur the creature quickly emerged from the collision nearly unharmed. Their shells were of an incredibly hard quality and nigh unbreakable, at least for the woman, but her bane and loathing for the creatures would fuel many attempts to crack them. Heather began running in circles for lack of a proper escape. The bugs were everywhere. It was then that she noticed the small woman had fallen. Was she unconscious, wondered Heather. If so then the only choice of action available to the girl would be to save the other girl... But there was a wall of white sickly looking bug between the two of them. "I am going to regret this, I just know it." Heather took off on a dead sprint towards the wall of bugs. She crossed her arms in front of her body. She slammed into them like a bowling ball and they flew like pins. Heather's body hit with all the force of a locomotive as she crashed through the bug's ranks to get to the girl. The creatures bounced off of her like they had been hit by the seatrain. Heather was like Jerome Bettis on the two yard line.

When Heather reached the girl she took a good look at her. She was wearing a rather cute outfit but her bow was strange. It seemed like it had been tinkered with and could transform. The only thought that entered the woman's head was, 'cool'. Heather leaned down and picked up the small fry like she weighed nothing, but as soon as she did all of the roaches around her stopped moving. They turned to her slowly like out of a horror movie. They began to hiss one by one. It started out like a simple whisper but it turned to a mighty and deafening roar. Heather had done the one thing she shouldn't have, she touched their queen.

Heather quickly realized the roaches didn't like her touching their auspicious female matriarch substitute so she set the girl down slowly. As soon as Nina was on the ground the roaches attacked. Heather's flight of fight response was instant... She was getting the fuck out of there. She took off on a dead sprint. She would rather fight against the unbeatable marine than an army of angry and scary assed bugs. As she ran Heather began to scream bloody murder. She didn't even move out of the way of town water fountain, she ran through the stone carving, destroying it in its entirety. She pointed behind, with tears in her eyes, as she shrieked, "Metalman! Kill it with fire!"

"Group of fists to the lower back."

"What, damnit again!" Samantha cursed as the first 3 fists sailed past him as he twisted his body just so enough that they'd miss. The remaining five closed in but he made a flying areal slash at her. 2 more fists sailed past and missed by mere inches as the cut flew towards her with alarming speed. She altered the course of her remaining hair fists to take the blow which began to carge through them, however it slowed and weakened the force to a degree that by the time it had carved through all of them and struck her in the chest her iron hair armor could safely absorb the blow. Though it did knock her from the air towards the ground. As she flew towards the ground she extended and tightened the network of hairs supporting her. They grabbed onto and ripped through the surrounding buildings quite a bit to slow her forced descent but she managed to stop about 2 meters off the ground. Even in the air she couldn't stop him. the dwarf had thoughtlessly thrown himself back at him unable to comprehend the futility of it. She would comment on how sorry it was but she was doing the same thing.

"Damn whats it take to beat this bastard?" She cursed as she righted herself and began to reform her fists of hair around herself. She looked down at the deep depression on her chest. If she hadn't slowed it down with her other fists of hair she might not be in one piece anymore. This guy was really frickin tough. The steel man rejoined the fray as he started to blast the area with high velocity explosives, Samantha laughed heartily as the former Marine was engulfed in flames.

"Haha serves that fucker right, nothing like a bit of napalm in the ... morning..." She stopped as he was revealed to be fine after that wicked huge explosion. How was he doing all this crazy shit? She moved over towards the cyborg and the downed dwarf to stand shoulder to shoulder with them. She overheard him casually declair his efforts needed to defeat them all.

"I’m impressed; I may have a real workout cutting you all down. You’ve certainly utilized the haze of war, cyborg, but none of you are fast enough to truly strain my perception."

"Bastards gettin pretty fuckin cocky ain't he. Whats say we put our differences aside till we deal with this cripple." She said cracking her neck to the left and right and then both knuckles. Reginald scoffed at the derogatory comment. Gripped his sheath with his left hand and readied his right to draw and attack. Samantha readied herself already shifting up into the air and back preparing to bombard his position with more fists of hair. Samantha was about to slam her fists into him when she noticed a large quantity of large white insects skittering towards them all. Grimacing at the revolting sight she deployed a single fist of hair to crush one that was getting near. Her strength made a crater in the ground, but when she removed her fist it was still there, struggling obviously hurt but it's shell was seemingly undented. This gave Samantha an idea. She extended her "reach" and began to wrap hairs around the skittering insects lifting them off the ground and preventing them from gaining any leverage. She strained herself a little and lifted about 7 of them into the airs with her reach.

"Have some of this ya blind bastard!" She shouted as she flung the hard shelled but weak insects like missiles at him. Right as she began to throw them she increased the side of 6 of her giant limbs of hair and sent them crashing down behind him in a curved formation. the intent wasn't to attack, but to block off his escape. with three of his sides blocked off like this he'd have to charge forward to escape, through the barrage of hard shelled roaches. This would also help the cyborg gunman focus and contain his fire and explosives to give him a better shot.

"Lets see ya bleeding dodge this ya bastard!" She shouted as she began to reach for more roaches to toss at him.

"Hurry up, you lot!" His gaze still turned upwards in a hostile glare towards the Marine, Umbert continued to spiral wildly. He knew he couldn't hold the Marine here any longer. His spinning had almost slowed to a stop from the Marine's exertions, pretty much just holding him up with one axe as he spun on one foot. The Marine let out a smirk as he felt Umbert's spinning bladed barrier failing, starting to lay off the pressure, preparing for the killer blow as the pirate began to slow down. He thought he saw the Marine deflect an arrow from somewhere, but the moment was over before he could even comprehend it.

Umbert's blood was staining the floor from his spinning, his arms spattered with his own red fluids in a gory display. But he paid no mind, and instead swung upwards with his other axe to keep the Marine at bay. In response, the white-robed swordsman daintily propelled himself off Umbert's axe and out of his range, raising his sword over his head in a familiar display as his previous attack on Umbert.

"Keen Eagle's Eye!" He called out, as he swooped down towards the dazed pirates, who took a few steps back to steady himself, trying to keep his gaze fixed on the Marine. Umbert deftly flipped his axes upside down in his hands, blades pointed to the ground, as he prepared to leap up to meet the Marine in the air. But before he could, the huge steel body of Luther jumped across him, arm-blades extended as he jabbed at the swordsman, causing the Marine to divert his attack to meet the new threat, their blades scraping across one another in the air.

Before the swordsman could turn back to strike again at the cyborg, Luther had raised his arm, and blasted a large pellet at his opponent, who quickly raised his sword to block. But before it had even struck his blade, the pellet split into five parts, before exploding and engulfing the scene in a cloud of fire and black smoke.

As the cluster bomb split open, Luther dove away towards Umbert, knocking him to the ground as he dove for cover. Impacting with his wounded chest, Umbert let out a grunt of pain, a trail of blood escaping from between his gritted teeth, as he hit the ground and rolled violently a few times, before landing outside of the blast radius. Letting out a growl of effort, Umbert clutched his chest, staggering to his feet again, drops of his blood soaking his shirt and dripping onto the ground. Squeezing the hilts of his axes tightly, Umbert turned back to the fray, approaching Luther to stand beside him, taking heavy breaths from the beating he'd taken, but too intent on keeping his pride to slouch and make himself look weak.

"I hope yeh had a good reason fer stealin' my kill again, Wilson. We talked about this on Pharsalus Island. Ah'll kick yer ass if yeh pull tha' crap again." Umbert growled, not taking his eyes off the smoke.

The blue-haired punk moved to stand on Luther's other side, Umbert glancing at her defensively. Getting a proper look at the girl for the first time, Umbert took note of her skin seemed to be made of a skin-colored weave that subtly caught the sunlight. It even looked like the colour of her clothes seemed to merge with the same weave, as if she had invisible armour on. Regardless, her skin-armour showed off her defined muscle tone and strong body quite nicely. Umbert might love violence first and foremost, but he wasn't completely inhuman. He raised an eyebrow and nodded in subtle approval of what he saw, before turning his gaze back to the smoke, a few dirty thoughts of what he wouldn't mind doing with the punk girl feeding into the subconscious, before he scowled and mentally waved them away.

"Haha, serves that fucker right." The blue-haired girl began, Umbert turning his head to her with a scowl. "Nothing like a bit of napalm in the..."

As Umbert watched her, her face dropped, staring in disbelief at the smoke. Turning his own gaze back to the billowing remains of the explosion, Umbert also had to do a double-take to believe what he was seeing.

The swordsman was exiting the smoke, his white robe slightly blackened by the smoke and heat, but otherwise apparently intact. He had a stony grimace on his face, his eyes still covered by that blindfold, the katana held outwards from his body to one side.

"... morning..." He heard the punk girl finish her sentence.

The swordsman himself spoke next, as softly as before, but with a hint of irritation in his voice. "I'm impressed. I may have a real workout cutting you all down. You've certainly utilized the haze of war, cyborg, but none of you are truly fast enough to stain my perception."

Umbert grinned, raising his axes in readiness. "Maybe not, ladyboy. But we can sure as hell give i' a shot! Wait fer an openin', you two! Ah'll give 'im somethin' teh think abou', ah'm ready for 'im this time!"

He let out a roar of defiance, before plunging forward towards the swordsman once more, starting to twirl his axes in his hands like buzz saws, as he prepared for his next attack. If he knows what I'm thinking before I do, He thought to himself as he closed the distance, Then I'll just have to do an attack where I'm not thinking at all!

"Let's go then, blindey! Redstone Bloodbath!" Umbert bellowed, before sending his arms whirling around his body in a spontaneous, knee-jerk way. He barely noticed as he nicked himself on his legs and shoulders during the attack, his lust for this Marine's blood overriding any thought of self-preservation or logical thought. As if any existed in the first place.

As he moved into the Marine's personal space, the swordsman scowled, raising his katana defensively, as he tried to judge a way to strike. But Umbert's blind and thoughtless fury had him on the back foot, unable to predict his opponent's thoughts, because there were no thoughts to be predicted. Just intense adrenaline and bloodthirst. The only thing that he could see was what he could hear with ease. Umbert's constant and unnerving screaming of the same words, over and over as the reckless barrage of axe-blades continued.

"BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD! BLOOD!"

Nina didn’t stay passed out for long, regaining her senses she opened her eyes while fervently praying that the past hours had been a bad dream. Looking up she nearly closed her eyes again in order to pretend to still be unconscious. That would have been the denial way of dealing with what she saw. Chaos, complete and utter chaos; that was the best way to describe what was in from of her very eyes.

The hairy woman was using the roaches as projectiles, flinging them left and right with little regard to where they landed, the manly girl were nowhere to be seen, though a nearby fountain had a curiously human-shaped hole. Correction, she spotted the girl a bit further down the street, apparently she weren’t alone in disliking the oversized bugs. Umbert were spinning his axes like a madman, red blood staining the white ground. She would have a few choice words for him later about what you do not do with a gaping wound on your body.

Oddly she didn’t feel any fear of the insects anymore, it was as if her initial fright had gone full circle back to a kind of astounded calm. It almost felt like she was watching herself from the outside, an odd feeling to say the least. Standing up again she shook her head in an attempt to clear her thoughts. Almost immediately the earlier whispers returned in full force, this time accompanied by a very odd image ”DowN nOW!” the image was of one of the flying roaches hitting her own head.

Reacting faster than she thought she could the Mermaid threw herself to the ground, a second later something made a whooshing sound as it passed where she had stood, with a crash it collided with a wall. As in her ‘vision’ it was one of the roaches, it was not firmly stuck in the wall. With a shiver she realized the ‘voices’ had just saved her life, she had no idea what they were and would have to investigate the matter as soon as things calmed down.

Standing up again she decided what to do next, Taking arrows out of her quiver the archer quickly stuck them in the ground in front of her, that way she could fire them faster than if they had still been in the quiver. Drawing her bow again she called out ”Volley!”, followed by a veritable hailstorm of arrows being unleashed upon the swordsman, she had a strong urge to shout ‘dodge this’ but refrained as it would just have been silly. Not even sheknew exactly where each arrow would land, seeing as she simply aimed in the general direction of the swordsman.

A thought hit her that some of the arrows might hit Umbert but seeing as the madman were already hurting himself that might not be that much of an issue, still the doctor berated herself for her carelessness. After all, she would be the one patching everyone up and giving herself more work wasn’t a very smart thing to do.

Once again she heard the swordsman say out loud what was happening ”Attacks, from every direction” judging by his voice he sounded a bit strained ”Flicker dance”.

What she observed next made the arrow cleaving seem like child play, the swordsman seemed to just…vanish, she ten noticed dust rising from the area that was being bombarded. Next she caught a glimpse of something blurry, the swordsman was dodging every attack thrown at him! Although he seemed to be having some trouble with Umbert and the arrows, some of the arrows were being cleaved midair as if the man were slashing around himself to avoid them. It was hard to tell if Umbert were being successful due to the amounts of his own blood being thrown around.

As for the roaches they were now filling the street, milling around like a giant white carpet on the streets and buildings, not to mention being flinged around in the air by the hair woman.

As the explosion cleared, Luther got to his feet, pulling off the nibbling insects and throwing them aside. He noticed instead of hitting walls and cracking, they tumbled, as if made of steel themselves, and skittered about. "Just what's wrong with this island? Even the infestation is white, and it's running loose." As shocking as the sudden appearance of roaches was, it didn't distract Luther for very long. Quickly his attention returned to Reginold, who had managed to survive the explosions with nothing more then singes along the cuffs of his sleeves. The woman controlling her hair, who had fallen to the earth after being knocked down by the swordsman's mighty swing, now stood beside Luther, equally disappointed in the lack of harm inflicted on Reginold by the blast. Umbert joined her, annoyed that Luther had saved his life. "As expected... he managed even to deflect that..." Luther looked on the ground, noticing the slash marks close to Reginold's position. "But judging by those marks, I'd say he deflected the attack by cutting the air, but in no specific direction. I can't predict the exact locations of the individual pellets, it's a scattershot. This will work to my advantage."

The blue haired woman, eager to defeat the opponent, suggested working together to take down the swordsman. Luther looked to her, raised his fist, and spoke. "I have a much larger explosive, form a shield with your arms to prevent the blast from doing too much damage to this direction, and it will be too massive for even him to evade." Reaching to his side, Luther pulled out the clip of Mole Slugs tucked into the loops of his pants. He loaded the clip into his left arm, steadying his aim. "I just need an opening." Then, highly on cue, but completely contrast to Luther's wished, Umbert rushed in yet again to attack. "You little troll!" Luther barked. "Stay back and let me handle this, you can't beat him that way, blood stained hairball!" Infuriated, Luther was driven to an act of malice. If he didn't want to get out of the way, he would be blown out of the way. True, Umbert may suffer some minor injuries as a result, but maybe if he fell unconscious he would finally stop throwing himself into the face of death.

Luther began strafing to the right, his left arm aimed out, positioning himself for a shot. "Doctor, keep fire on him." Luther said as he approached, seeing Nina launching arrows at the swordsman. "And get ready to duck." But as Luther raised his arm to fire, Reginold looked up towards Nina's attack and suddenly disappeared. Shocked, and annoyed, Luther's eyes went wide as he tried his best to find the swordsman. Loud clangs rang out as the distinct sound of a sword knocking the arrows from the air hit Luther's ears. It was obvious he was still there, darting around at high speeds, but he was moving so fast in a set area that Luther couldn't spot him. Fortunately, Luther didn't need to. Holding out his arm, Luther aimed for the alleyway between the two buildings on the opposite side of the street, a few feet away from Reginold's field of deflection. From there, the funneled explosion would swallow the swordsman whole, and most likely ward off Umbert. But from where the hairball was spinning, he had a decent chance of not being blown to bits.

"Farewell, blind swordsman." Luther said with an unforgiving tone as he pulled the lever on his left launcher, then hit the button on the underside. The projectile was sent flying out, flying straight past Reginold's territory. Though Luther was sure that Reginold wouldn't be foolish enough to attempt to deflect the projectile after what happened with the first shot. Shockingly however, Reginold did deflect it, smacking the drill bit and knocking the shot off course. It instead headed straight for the three story building to the right instead of the alley. With a huff of rage, Luther started backing up. Having been struck on the tip, the explosive was now armed, and just as it penetrated the glass of the store's window, it detonated. The explosion was unfathomable. From such a relatively small projectile came a plume of fire and smoke that burst the glass windows before the sound hit the ears of the pirates, sending shards of glass flying through the air in all directions.

Next came the shock hitting the stone of the building. It seemed to shake and then crumble all in an instant, turning walls into smoke and charred rubble. The upper half of the building was sucked into the void that the first floor once filled. The explosion spilled out into the street, surprising even Reginold, who had to dart out of the way, moving quickly towards the doctor, hoping to cut her as he passed and escape the blast, but the flying glass was an unpredictable factor and the explosion was deafening, he couldn't defend himself against the glass and stone shrapnel that assaulted his side as he ran, nor could he completely escape the fire and smoke that swept past him as he desperately moved away. He sought freedom, but was blocked off by the hair woman's giant fists. "Damn!" He muttered as he used his sword to knock aside one of the fists mid leap, costing him time and causing his leg to be singed as he rolled to the ground, just barely escaping the blast radius.

"You pirates... have you lost your damn minds, or gone mad with desperation?" Though Reginold saw the individual effects of the explosion, for the rest of the combatants, everything happened in an instant, the powerful blast having consumed the building and left only the charred remains of the lower level and the fallen ruins of the top.

Well I have a headache

Ask and ye shall receive. Heather's plea to the metal monstrosity was answered. She requested a roach roast and by golly she got one. Unfortunately the percussion from the blast took her off her feet backwards. Heather wasn't even that close to the explosion either! Many roaches were caught near the building and the fire seemed to destroy their bodies much faster than blunt forces could. Heather rolled to her feet with ringing ears as the remaining roaches continued pursuing her. The tears in her eyes were nearly gone after the explosion hit. Heather was scared, and like a cornered rat she was going to lash out soon.

The first roach caught up to the girl. He was large and kind of bulky. He tackled Heather from behind and the girl hit the ground once more. She quickly spun whilst screeching bloody murder. Her elbow struck the beast square in the underbelly and nearly blasted the thing 5 feet backwards. Heather began to crawl away from the bugs in a backwards pedaling motion but they continued following her every move. Not even Heather's random displays of strength could deter these atrocities. They were furious and willing to express their anger fully.

The second roach attacked Heather. The girl put both hands forward and caught the bug by the head. She flipped the bug over her body and flung it with all her might. The steel cased bug then took a direct path towards the swordsman marine. Heather however quickly altered her attention to the next bug coming at her. She had no time to see if the bug would make contact with the marine or not. This time two bugs pounced. Heather rolled over herself backwards onto her feet. She then slammed both fists down on the bugs shells. They stopped moving for a moment but they quickly recovered and began charging the girl again.

Heather was panicking, but she knew she was panicking. This fact would be her one salvation. The girl forced herself to let out a massive exhale to calm herself. She took up a classic styled karate stance and prepared for the roach onslaught. Heather quickly pulled her right foot around and snap kicked the roach approaching on her right. The roach flew into the other roach and they both rolled off about 15 feet away from Heather. She could do this. The girl let out a massive smile. She was growing fatigued and couldn't keep running away. She needed to try to end the roaches here and now, or hope by some miracle they would disappear on their own.

"I have a much larger explosive, form a shield with your arms to prevent the blast from doing too much damage to this direction, and it will be too massive for even him to evade. I just need an opening."

"Maybe not, ladyboy. But we can sure as hell give i' a shot! Wait fer an openin', you two! Ah'll give 'im somethin' teh think abou', ah'm ready for 'im this time!"

"You little troll! Stay back and let me handle this, you can't beat him that way, blood stained hairball!"

"Yeah because the last two times worked so well for ya. What are you going to do, bleed on him? Heh, looks like the captain has a bit of trouble controlling his crew. It'd be a shame if he dies, he's gonna get some nice scars from this fight." Samantha chuckled as the dwarf charged in head first again. She couldn't help but pass off a small insult to his captaining abilities, if he was in fact the captain of this crew like she thought. Samantha, Umbert, and the iron giant began to attack sequences at the same time. Samantha's attack, combined with Umbert's distracting forward charge, Nina's hail of arrows, and the iron giants combustible explosive slugs all working in tandem formed a powerful combination as they sync'd up together. Samantha could hear him calling out the attacks again, but this time it was a bit more frantic, she could feel they were slowly pushing him into a corner.

"Attacks, from every direction!"

It seemed to be working. A veritable hailstorm of flying roaches and arrows bombarding his position mixed with the fact that she had crafted him an artificial corner to cut off his escape. Insects and arrows were being deflect rapidly in every direction as they got close to him. Then suddenly he just vanished. She could hear the sounds of numerous ringing and clanging as the arrows and bugs were still being deflected in every direction. Bastard was moving so fast he was like invisible now. The iron giant fired his weapon and to Samantha high and above she could almost see it moving in slow motion towards him. Instinctively she brought her unused arms in front of her to shield herself from the blast. As the swordsman deflected the projectile arming it and knocking it into the nearby building. The blast was deafening, Samantha curled the free arms around her body defensively as the concussive force and fire rocked back her way and tossed her shield body of hair away like a pinball. She momentarily lost some of the control she had over the barricade of hair and he was able to cut his way through, but the motion of cutting through her barrier cost him a precious second and enabled the blast to clip him.

"Damn! You pirates... have you lost your damn minds, or gone mad with desperation?"

Samantha's shield of hair crashed into the ground cratering it in the shape of a small meteor impact along the ground. A bit shaken by the force she got up and cracked her neck and knuckles. Though she had diffused most of the blast and force a lot of it still hit her and she might be suffering from a broken rib of something. She fought off the urge to hold her side as she detached all her flaming limbs of hair and let them burn themselves out into the ground.

"Not to agree with pansy ass over there but that was a bit reckless. And you! You're the one who knocked the thing into the god damned building, you're just as much responsible for the collateral damage as him. Suck it up and take responsibility like a man!" She said gruffly and pound her fist on her chest, a move she immediately regretted as overwhelming pain shot through her chest ad for a split second she was afraid she would have passed out. luckily her strong constitution saved her and she managed to remain fully conscious. Still she extended her arms shaking and loosening them as she once again began to weave gargantuan limbs of hair sprouting from her shoulders and back.

"We can keep doing this all day Reginald. For all your fancy footwork and amazing ability to run away eventually even you can be caught." she said pointing down at his left leg which was burnt, and a bit blackened. the fine pants had been reduced to shreds and his skin was a mixture of black ash and cauterized blood. Reginald glared at Samantha who had proven herself to be every bit as hard to put down as he knew she would be. The giants explosives were no joke, the archer had some recently awoken potential for haki and if she were to continue in this fight and figure out how to control it here it would be a real problem. The dwarf was cut to ribbons and on deaths door and yet he still threw himself headfirst into the fray. He was beginning to realize that now that his enemies had banded together their combined strength was beginning to eclipse his own as he was forced to fight them all simultaneously.

As he kept on the attack, driving the Marine steadily backwards with his constant barrage, Umbert was barely conscious, running solely on adrenaline. His blood was running freely down his torso and legs, and his eyes were dilated and unfocused. But if the Marine had had the chance to examine him properly, he'd notice that Umbert was just blindly moving forward, following the sound of clanging against his axe-blades.

The clanging suddenly stopped as the Marine suddenly vanished, the immediate lack of white robes in front of him awakening Umbert from his dazed stated, and causing him to pull off his axes attack to take stock of his surroundings.

Just in time to receive Nina's arrow volley.

Letting out a hiss of pain, a blue-feathered arrow lodged itself in his right shoulder, causing him to stagger back, before another one buried itself just above his left knee. Another one struck the left side of his gut, making him squat down and raise his sizable axe-blades over his head as a makeshift shield, kneeling down to minimize his size. Wincing and baring his teeth with the dulled pain, he vaguely felt the arrows pinging off the metal surfaces over his hand, as another two grazed both his left forearm and right shin before they skirted past him.

"Who the hell is tha'?!" He yelled as loud as he could, too weary to raise his head to see from below his makeshift barrier. But from close by, he could hear the flurried tinkling and swishing sound of metal striking objects at alarming speed. Managing to raise his eyes, he could just make out the wildly-flitting image of the Marine swordsman, moving almost faster than his eyes could follow.

That bastard, taking his attention off me! I'll cut him good, dammit! Umbert growled, driving himself in his blood-hungry state to rise to his full diminutive height, and lowering his axe shield, taking an arrow in his other shoulder for his trouble.

But this time, he only bared his fangs harder, an untamed look in his eye as he approached the swordsman from behind, his axes glinting in what little blood was left from the bar fight. They looked almost as if they wanted to kill as much as Umbert did.

But as Umbert came up behind the Marine, and raised his axe, a slightly louder ping from the swordsman was almost immediately followed by a devastating explosion from a nearby building. Umbert barely had time to cover his face from the heat before he let out a cry, and fell to the floor in a heap, blown back by the force of the impact. He let out a groan as he rolled onto his front and sat up, growling as he began to yank out each arrow in turn, a new trickle of blood running for every wound. Nothing serious, just flesh wounds. But they still stung.

Looking around again, Umbert looked at the cause of the explosion. One of the buildings surrounding the square was in the process of caving in on itself, releasing a billowing cloud of dust and rubble that drowned the area in front of the building in a blinding mist of broken plaster.

Umbert hauled himself to his feet for what felt like the hundredth time in the past five minutes, his shoulders hunched as his breath came ragged from his lungs. He blinked hard, clearing his vision somewhat as he kept his eyes trained on their opponent, who had been scorched by the explosion, one of his legs apparently taking the worst of it.

Suddenly, he felt a throbbing pain cloak his head, making him wince and press one axe-wielding hand to his head in pain. The edges of his vision were turning red as his blood ran thick and fast as the adrenaline refused to die down.

Umbert remembered this state. He had been here before, when the battle was thickest. But he hadn't felt like this for a long time:

Illusia, West Blue. Twelve years ago.

It was raining. A dingy warehouse loading yard in Illusia's industrial district. A short stocky man in a black trench coat was stomping his way across the courtyard, hands shoved into his pockets and head lowered beneath a black Fedora hat. But it failed to hide his bright red stubble.

Umbert hated dressing like this. The mafia dons always demanded he wear it, so he could travel 'incognito'. Felt more like 'in-dull-nito' to him. But Don Macheda had paid him extra to take care of this lot. And what Don Macheda wants, Don Macheda gets. If the Price tag is high enough, of course.

Umbert saw the first man. He was wearing a similar outfit as Umbert. A black trench coat and fedora, his head bowed to protect against the heavy rain as he tried to find shelter under the overhang of the warehouse roof. Beside him was Umbert's entrance; a side-door with a fist-sized padlock on a thin chain. The red-haired thug picked up the pace as he strode straight for the man, who had only just noticed Umbert when his feet entered his line of vision.

"Hey, what are you-" was all he said. A flash of an axe from beneath Umbert's coat, and the man's head rolled from his shoulder. The rain and the forced outfit had put Umbert out of the mood to play around tonight.

Slashing through the simple chain with ease, Umbert entered the warehouse. It was dark, a few lanterns hanging on the overhanging runways to keep the place lit, as at least fifty men, some in trench coats, some in brown overalls, moved large crates to and fro. Umbert had been told he was shutting down a rogue drugs ring, that was cutting into Don Macheda's profits. It didn't matter much to him. What mattered was that he'd been told that the whole gang was armed and dangerous. Just the way Umbert liked it.

Finally discarding the hated outfit, Umbert unslung his other axe, and walked forward into the open. As more and more of the workforce noticed him, they stopped what they were doing and stared at him silently. Umbert spoke up for those who hadn't seen him yet.

"Ah hope yeh kissed yer women goodbye, lads." Umbert began in a raised tone. The assorted criminals began to clench their fists, and reach for knives, clubs, iron bars, knuckledusters, or whatever they had.

"Because yeh know wha' happens when I get called on a job." The thug grinned, as he lowered his head, and plunged towards the nearest man, who staggered back moments before Umbert ripped his torso open mercilessly. As Umbert descended on the next man, the men finally retaliated, charging forward individually to clobber the vertically-challenged henchman, who merely laughed louder as so many more targets came into view.

"THAT'S IT, COME AT ME! MORE FER THE SLAUGHTER!" Umbert bellowed, as he went about his business, hacking and slashing his way slowly through the crowd. Some of the men landed blows with clubs or knuckledusters, or nicked him with switchblades, but Umbert pressed on, more eager for bloodshed than he was scared for his own injuries.

It continued like this for about five more seconds. Umbert was going strong and about to cut down his fifth man, until he felt someone kick him hard in the back of his knees, sending him falling forward. He barely had time to catch himself on his palms before the mob fell upon him, bashing hard at him with an assortment blunt objects, or sticking short blades into his flesh. Umbert remained crouched for a second or two, his body quickly becoming bloody and bruised from the assault.

This is bad! Umbert thought to himself. Get up, dammit! Or yer a dead man! Come on, get up!

The mob kept beating down on his form, some of them now jeering.

Get up!

Umbert felt his consciousness fading, his vision turning to black, when suddenly he saw the blood slick on the axes held against the floor below him.

He paused.

KILL THEM.

A single slash, and five of the thugs fell back, a single thick slash ripping across all of their bodies, cutting harsh and deep. The display spooked the rest of them, causing them to stand back warily as Umbert staggered to his feet, his head lowered.

There was silence for a moment before Umbert looked up, and stared the first man he found right in the eye. Umbert's eyes were terribly bloodshot, and raving mad. His pupils were shrunken and quivering, and his face was twisted into a bloodied snarling grin.

"Oh no..." One of the men whimpered, as Umbert let out a shaky breath, blood and spittle flying from between his clenched teeth. A few of the others looked at the one who spoke.

"It's his bloodrage..."

And then, Umbert screamed. It wasn't a scream of pain, or fear, or even anger. The sound transcended all those feelings. It was the desire for slaughter, incarnated in sound.

Plunging forward like a true madman, the sheer force of his adrenaline driving him forward, Umbert ripped the man's chest open in one cleaving slash of his axe. The rest staggered back, fearful for a moment as the man fell without a word, but Umbert didn't stop. He raised his axes again and tore the dying man to pieces, chunks of flesh and limbs being spread in all directions as the sheer force of the violence literally tore the body apart. Pressing onward, Umbert set his sights on the next man in the same way, and the next, and the next. Eventually, the remaining men banded together.

"Alright lads! There's only one of him! Let's kill him before he kills us! If you want to get out of here alive, follow me!" And as one, the rest of the workforce charged the psychotic midget, who met the charge head-on, plunging into the crowd in a display of violent gore.

The next morning, Don Macheda drove up in a covered carriage with a few of his men. Their plan was to retrieve the drugs, return them to the Don's own stockpile, and sell it as their own.

But when they opened the door, the men behind Macheda weren't prepared for the sight that met them. The Don, however, let out a smooth, cold laugh, resting his hands on his hips calmly.

Not one body lay undisturbed. The floor was slick with blood, limbs and chunks of flesh scattered about like seeds on a plowed field. And the centerpiece of it all, a mountain of dismembered corpses as tall as a man. Sitting atop the pile, was none other than a blood-soaked Umbert Redstone, still breathing heavily. Turning his head, he gazed almost dreamlike at the Don and his men. The other henchmen stepped back as Umbert descended the pile and approached the Don, his axes still dripping blood in his hands.

"Well, Redstone. I'm impressed. I've not seen handiwork like this for quite a long time." Macheda smirked, nodding approvingly. "With you as my ace in the hole, I don't think anyone will be interfering in my market for a long time."

Umbert didn't speak. The Don looked him up and down, and frowned a little, "You look awful, Umbert. Are you hurt?" Macheda turned to one of his men, a man with a greasy blonde ponytail and a tattoo of a trio of love hearts beneath his right eye. "Jax, go back to the carriage and get my emergency medical supplies. Fix our dear associate right up, would you?"

"I'm fine." Umbert said suddenly, startling the group, even the Don, who quickly put on an appreciative smirk. Umbert opened his mouth to speak...

"Rage is a hell of an anesthetic." He murmured, his voice low as he slowly raised his head to glare at the Marine, his hands shaking visibly as his lips slowly peeled back to revealed bared teeth, almost like a snarling wolf. Letting out that same roar of violence, Umbert blazed forward with renewed energy, almost breaking through the Marine's defense before he could react. But at the last moment, the swordsman managed to raise his sword to block, the spikes of Umbert's axes centimeters from his blind.

Umbert let out another ear-splitting roar, right into the Marine's face, his quivering bloodshot eyes staring intently at the Marine's blindfold, as if trying to look him right in the eye.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

"If violence can't solve yer problems, then you aren't usin' enough of it!"

Fast as he may be the swordsman were slowly yielding to the combined onslaught of the pirates, none of the individual attacks might be able to touch him but when combined they were stronger than the sum of the parts.

She took Luthers warning quite seriously, knowing full well that his body was quite literally armed to the teeth, keeping her volley up for a few more moments despite Umbert taking some of the arrows she then unceremoniously jumped back in order to avoid the shockwave that would result from luthers weaponry, indeed a large blast wave followed shortly after. Luckily she had far more distance to it than the rest of the fighters, though she was still knocked over by the wave of hot air.

Getting back up on her feet she called out to Umbert ”Hey Umbert, don’t pull the arrows ou…” she didn’t even get to finish speaking before the bearded berserker did exactly what she told him not to, taking a deep preath to calm herself she then continued ” Fine, then at least wrap some cloth around your wounds for now, you will bleed to death otherwise; I’ll patch you up later” it might be an odd time to give medical advice but she took her job quite seriously. That and considering how Umbert had been behaving with open wounds it was a miracle he hadn’t passed out due to blood loss yet.

Nimbly she got back on her feet, thinking back she had been doing that a fair bit lately and the mermaid were getting a bit tired of being knocked over. Looking back at the blind swordsman she was surprised only his leg had been injured. Then again the building had taken the brunt of the explosion and had been reduced to rubble so perhaps managing to scorch Reginolds leg was an achievement after all.

She hadn’t noticed before but a majority of the giant roaches had gone off chasing after the manly girl, between that and the hair girl throwing them around the area immediately surrounding the combatants were relatively free of oversized insects, a fair amount had been lodged a bit here and there in the buildings though; that explosion had sent a number in every direction, while a few hit had died the majority seemed just fine despite being used as makeshift projectiles.

Meanwhile

A large ship anchored in the harbour, from the looks of it the ship belonged to the marines. On the deck the sailors milled about while down on street level a pair of shadowy figures walked along the street toward the area where the fight was taking place, suddenly they both stopped.
”what in the world…”
”Is that….Cockroaches?!?”

In unison they both turned around and walked toward another part of town

”I think I will pretend I didn’t see that”
”saw what?”
”Exactly”

Without speaking any more the shadowy figures soon vanished among the buildings.

Translated from the language of roaches

Squad leader 4: Left flank Left flank!
Soldier 121: Zeta to Gamma, Zeta to Gamma, target in sight, commencing assault
Worker 8: whaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh….im fine, someone mind pulling me out of this wall?
Bob: Bring the muscle creature down!
Antonio: You guys are just…THE QUEEN!

Nina saw how Reginold calmly looked in the face of the screaming Umbert ”Knowing when to cut your losses is its own kind of wisdom, something you should learn” Looking up the mermaid could have sword he looked straight at her despite being blind ”But I believe you owe me for killing my apprentices, it would be discourteous to leave without taking something of value; like a ship doctor with as of yet unpolished potential”

His last words caused the blood in Ninas veins to freeze, having little time in which to react she realized the blind swordsman had a clear path right to her with none of the doctors comrades close enough to intervene. Before Nina really knew what was going on Reginold stood before her, attempting to raise her bow the swordsmans sword flashed, the bow sailed through the air before hitting the ground with a metallic clattering sound.

Her world suddenly turned upside down as Reginold easily threw her over his shoulder, and there were little she could do to stop it; she had enough time to think that this had to be among the most humiliating things that had ever happened before he set off at full speed away from the fighting.

Behind the roaches erupted in a frenzy, trying in vain to reach Reginold and failing that attacking anything close by in a fury that made the earlier milling around look like childs play.

The testing of his weapon yielded mixed results. Due to the nature of the detonation of his slug, testing of the drill mechanism was completely inapplicable. However, the explosive capabilities yielded impressive results, especially for a device that didn’t need to be transported with much care. The explosive cloud was fast and all consuming, the concussive force shattered stone to powder, and as usual Luther’s calculations were impressively accurate. Well, for the most part. His predictions failed to account for the changed trajectory of the slug after Reginald deflected it, as well as which position would be best to stand in when the explosive went off. As a result, Luther was not only shaken from his steady position, but knocked to the ground as several of the unreasonably large cockroaches were propelled into him at terminal velocity. The airborne trauma managed to knock the heavy metal giant off his feet, but was far from enough to damage him. Quickly moving to a kneeling position, he looked up to see Reginald standing, barely damaged. It was a terrible outcome for the effectiveness of his test, but considering the unaccounted factor of Reginald’s speed, he considered it a success.

He pushed off his knee and brought himself to his feet, stomping on one of the roaches that scurried to his feet in fear of the flames. It indented into the ground, but still struggled. “Incredible speed or not, even you have limits, and thanks to that little test, I can now estimate the extent of your speed.” Raising his left arm, loaded with his mole slugs, Luther taunted the swordsman. “You’re merely baiting death, wandering blindly into a gambit you have no business playing at. You can run until your legs break, but all it will come from it is the destruction of this island. I promise you blind swordsman, I will burn Gessou to the ground if necessary.” As Luther stood with his weapon of mass destruction at the ready, Umbert awakened from his near death state, shouting in a fit of bloodlust that Luther was shocked could exist in a human. This day was simply full of surprises. Umbert’s complete disregard for the binding laws of human limits was entirely against Luther’s wishes, but did an excellent job of establishing an inevitable truth; Reginald could not end the Krakens when they cooperated, and even at the cost of their own lives they would destroy both him and a good portion of the island around them if pushed to that extreme. Though most marines were willing to lay down their lives for the sake of protecting the people, Luther estimated that Reginald would in the very least resort to desperate measures to protect the island.

But Luther’s confidence faded rather quickly as Reginald spoke. Though his cliché poke at wisdom was average enough a line for a marine, it was the following threat that bothered Luther. No, it wasn’t a threat; the tone he used was dead serious, too serious to be a threat. He intended in taking the doctor hostage. He intended on taking Nina, the ships only doctor and only level headed member of the crew still alive after the Reverse Mountain incident. Taking her as revenge for taking the previously meager lives of the marksmen who failed at stopping the street fight. Grinding his teeth, Luther’s eyes widened and a vein in the side of his bald head pulsated visibly against his skull. In the time it took Luther to being sprinting, the swordsman had already darted over to Nina. By the time Luther had taken his second step, he had knocked the bow from her hands. By his third step, he had Nina over his shoulder, and by Luther’s fourth step, Reginald had already begun moving at a pace Luther couldn’t hope to match. A deep, powerful rage began to overtake Luther. A level of fury he hadn’t visited in a long time. This level of intentional humiliation by another individual hadn’t been inflicted on Luther in a long, long time.

“Give…” Luther shouted as Reginald began sprinting. “Back…” Luther cried as he saw Nina’s shocked expression as she was taken away. “My…” He shouted as the roaches began swarming, as if called by a piper, trailing after Reginald with some sort of awakened fury, as Luther brought his arm forward and prepared to fire another shot.

“Doctor!” He pulled back on the lever and hit the trigger button, firing a mole slug that spiraled through the air. Reginald didn’t bother deflecting it, he simply allowed it to sail over his shoulder, abruptly taking a right and sprinting forward at full speed, disappearing into an alley. The slug flew into the ground and spiraled into the stone, exploding in a brilliant wave of force and flames that sent the furious stampede of roaches flying in all directions, some finally killed off after exposure to enough of the heat and force. The burning flames and furious chattering of the roaches was nothing before the overwhelming fury coming from Luther. It was so intense that the sweat on his body seemed to evaporate as fast as it could form, the vein on his head looked ready to burst, his eyes bloodshot, pupils shining bright red from the lights in his eyes. He clenched his fists, a deep growling in his throat, all the muscles in his upper body visibly contracting with rage. Something needed to be done, something. He could not let anyone commit such an act and escape unharmed, he could not allow a blind swordsman of any caliber to steal his crewmate from him. Turning sharply, Luther barked “Umbert!” but paused as he saw the condition the battle had left his berserker in.

The realization came over Luther, calming his body. It was over. There had been no casualties on his part, but he had by all personal definitions, he had lost. The swordsman had gotten away and taken the doctor with him, at best she would be imprisoned. At worst she would be tortured and executed. Currently, none of that mattered. What mattered was that the swordsman had taken her and simultaneously proved that there was nothing Luther could do about it. That swordsman could have taken Nina at any moment, taken anyone except perhaps the heavy cyborg himself. Dominance had been established, and it belonged to the blind swordsman. Just as quickly as the calmness came, it vanished, Luther raised his arm and fired another mole slug, higher into the air. It soared across the fountain in the square and hit a building across the street, causing a large explosion in the second story of the three story building, causing the front half of the building to fall. Luther turned away, with the cloud of burning smoke and dust at his back, and glared towards the devil fruit using woman and Umbert. “Make note of this. “ Luther said with a deepness and fury that matched even the bloodthirst of Umbert. “I will take back our doctor, and as punishment for his disrespect, I will take away what is precious to him. I will take his life, and I will take this island as my own. Gessou island shall belong to the Kraken Pirates.”
