There is probably a thread for it somewhere but I have no idea where it is, but anyway, it's come up a bit recently but why are split personalities not allowed? I can think of a few justified reasons but i was wondering what the rule is on the site

because split personalities are the swiss army knife of every situation and allow you to pretty much do whatever the hell you want when it comes to matters of socialization or interation with the world.

So I looked it up using the search function.

http://s1.zetaboards.com/One_Piece_RP/topic/3993635/2/#new
This topic explains the discussion and this:
http://s1.zetaboards.com/One_Piece_RP/single/?p=920040&t=3993635
is an official statement by Hainen about it.

In short, it is possible but in most cases it is not.

It is against the rules, but after looking at yours I dont think it's drastic enough of a change to warrant you having to change it. Unless I read it incorrectly, yours just seems more like a more serious attitude that your character has when working.

I can see where you're all coming from, I was just wondering why there was such hostility towards any sort of split personality character, i would've settled for it's too cliche to be used. Mental instability is so mainstream these days its kinda crazy

A lot of characters are bipolar on this site. Personality changes like moodswings at times and that's only normal. A happy character won't be happy when he/she is depressed.

Did people just ignore my input and went flat-out no? I mean Hainen said they can work. It's just that they shouldn't work like the swiss army knife thing. While things like schizophrenia is also a personality disorder it's not completely split personality.

I think it should more depend on a case to case sort of thing. Swiss army knife personality switch, no of course. I can't really think up a working example right now though...

I once did a One Piece rp with a guy whose character sheet was dark and depressing and his personality was described as severe and intense, and he acted the character as the typical happy go lucky shonen hero archetype. It was not very pretty, generally the less Bleach like something it can only get better, I am not ok with Bleach, bleach is a hard limit for me.
