The only thing the guard noticed that said that Melody had been there was the her yelling and the click from the door shutting. He stopped in his track and looked both left and right, as well has behind him and at the door that had gotten into his sight. There was nothing unusual, so he figured he had imagined it.

The room the thief had sneaked into was dark, she would be lucky if she managed to see her hand in front of her, but she had had streak of luck this night who knows. But in the next room, with no door separating this room from the other, she would be able to see a stream of moonlight coming through the roof window. This made it slightly easier to see in the darkness.

There was only one door leading out of the room that, if she searched around a little, was filled with shelves covered in glass covering the walls. What was inside those glass showcases was obvious, but due to the darkness one could still not be sure.

If Melody went into the room, slightly lit up by the moon, would she be able to make out a few doors. She had already seen where her target had been, but the question was if it was still there or if it had been moved. Besides the door leading to the room she had seen the diamond in, were there two other doors she could pick. Which one would it be? Nr.1, nr.2 or nr.3?

Melody blindly went through the place, not knowing left from right and up from down. The only thing she could rely on at this particular time was her hands. And her hands didn't really give her any idea as to where she was going. Aimless wandering brought the girl to a room lit by the light of the moon. "Oh thank god!" she voiced with an incredible amount of relief. Never before was she as happy to see light as she was at this moment.

In the room lit by the moon, there were numerous jewels and gems. They all seemed to glisten quite elegantly. The way the jewels shone in the light made them seem as if they were calling out to the girl. She was very tempted to take them from the glass and call it a night. The allure of the night diamond was just something that a simple ruby, emerald, pearl, or any other precious stone could not top. After she was done viewing the stones she wasn't going to take, she turned around to leave the room. Melody was now face-to-face with three doors. The girl could not remember which door led to the stairs, which led to the night diamonds she was after, so she had to just choose randomly.

"Now that I think about it... Who puts three doors side by side in a jewelry boutique? That's really weird." Melody shrugged as she thought about which door she wanted to go through. All of the doors looked exactly the same, but something about the first door just seemed off. It came down to the third or second door. A few minutes of deliberating with herself brought her to the decision of choosing door two. Going with the option in the middle was never a bad choice. She learned this from many past experiences she had.

Melody walked in through the door and kept going forward without feeling around. This proved to be a dumb mistake; without being able to see or feel where she was going led her to walk right into a glass case, knocking it over and falling right on top of it. "Shit," she said as the case shattered. Since the case was already open, she figured she would snatch whatever was in the case before continuing on to find the stairs.

Door Nr.2 it was!

What Melody would see when entering the next room was pretty much nothing at all, with the exception from more darkness. In there there was no form of light source and the moonlight from the display room was too weak to illuminate her path of choice. And because of that she managed to walk into a glass case and knock it over. The sound of glass crashing into the floor was loud and clear and if there was any guards present then the risk of them hearing it was big.

When and if Melody managed to get out of the jewelry unnoticed, or noticed while running from the guards, she would see that what she had grabbed was several gold rings, some with jewels embedded into them some without.

Anyhow, now she would have to work fast! The sound of surprised voices and heavy boots kept getting closer as seconds past, they kinda took their time though it would probably take a couple of minutes before they got to where she was. What the approaching people didn't know was if there was a burglar or just a cat or something that had caused the ruckus in the "Golden Room".

She couldn't see it, but a few meters in front of her was another door that led deeper into building and if it was there the Night Diamond was resting she couldn't know either. If she decided to go through the door, however, then she could find herself lucky. The room was lit up with dim candles, bright enough to see shapes, and the showcase for the diamond lay there silent in the middle of the room.

How to get her hands on it however was a completely another task, seeing as there was a few traps and a couple pf observation Den Den Mushis directed towards the glass case. About half a meter away from the case was a tripwire that surrounded the case that would throw off the alarm if moved.

Melody had kept going, despite her crashing into the glass case. Whatever she had nabbed from the case was poking her sides too badly and she decided to just throw most of it out. She didn't like the idea of throwing away the precious items she had just stolen, but she valued comfort more than value. She was stealing something much bigger than whatever her pockets were just lined with, so it really wouldn't have mattered in the end anyways. "Where the hell are the stairs? I feel like I've spent a lifetime in here already!" The girl grabbed her face and started feeling it. "Hopefully I haven't developed wrinkles."

Down the long hallway, there was another door that she went through. That door led her to a cylindrical room that housed a spiraling staircase. She distinctly remembered the staircase. "Lucky!" the girl cheered. Melody walked over to the staircase and placed her hand on the smooth, oak railing. "That diamond is right upstairs. It won't be too long until I'm rich." Melody smiled as she turned her head and looked up at the ceiling. Not wanting to waste anymore time, she quickly scaled the staircase.

The entrance to the night diamond room, oddly, lacked a door. The room was lit by candles, which seemed fittingly romantic. Each display had a candle and holder next to it. "That's actually really gorgeous," the girl said to herself as tears mentally formed. "Too bad I have to steal them though." She quickly equipped her lock picking tools and carefully stepped forward. Melody felt that she was being cautious, but her level of caution was nowhere near the level needed to detect the traps and cameras.

"..." Was her reaction when she felt her leg push up against a tripwire. There was no audible sound that she could hear after she pushed the wire, but she assumed that some type of alarm went off somewhere for the guards to hear. "SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!" The girl panicked more and more as she fumbled around with the lock on the case. "She's in the night diamond room!" a voice called out not to far from where the girl was.

Melody was able to open the lock successfully, but the thought of the looming guards didn't let her stomach settle any. She was searching for any exit she could think of while opening the case up and putting some of the diamonds in her bag. There was only two that she could see; a window to the right of her and a door to the left. "And I had the nerve to call myself lucky..."

The guards entered the room and Melody took a huge gulp. She had the night diamonds in her hand, so she couldn't even make up a crappy lie to say that she just happened to break in and wandered around before realizing that it wasn't her mansion. She quickly threw the diamonds in her bag and smiled at the guards. "Sorry boys, gotta go~" Melody ran over to the door she had been eyeballing to make her escape. before going through, she turned back around to the guards. "I hope you pay isn't docked because of me, boys."

She made her great escape through the door and into the next room that would eventually lead her to an exit... or so she thought. Melody ran into a room full of windows with lots of moonlight and no visible exit. She frantically whipped her head around in all directions to find a door. "Surprised, dumbass?" A female guard asked as she walked through the door, with the other guards closely behind her. "Maybe if you were a better thief, you'd have looked at the schematics for the building before attempting to rob the place." The guards laughed while Melody's face turned bright red in anger and embarrassment.

"Just turn yourself in and I'll ask the boss to take it easy on you. How's that sound?" The young thief bowed her head to look at the ground as tears started flowing from her eyes and onto her face. "Maybe you should try to make an honest living for yourself. You were bound to be caught in sooner or later." The female guard extended her hand to Melody as the thief drew near. One of the guards behind her readied his cuffs to secure the girl. It looked like there would be a future full of hard time for the thief. Maybe this event would eventually cause her to think about her life of crime and shape-up to make an honest living?

Nope.

Melody stopped two meters away from the guards and started shaking. "Stop crying," the female guard started, "Loguetown's female prison isn't too bad. You reap what you sow, so you have no one to blame this on but yourself, anyways." "Bitch, I'm not crying," Melody snapped as she lifted her head up to look at the guards. Her face was covered by a huge smile and the tears on her face seemed to sparkle in the moonlight. "You think I'd fucking let you people capture me? Take me to jail? I'm laughing at how stupid you people are! Fuck jail and being a good person, I'm outie!" Melody flipped the guards both of the birds and took off towards one of the moonlit windows.

"Stop that fool!" All of the guards ran after her to catch her before she could get through the window. The girl took a leap of faith and crashed through the window. She had experience crashing through windows, so the window part didn't bother her as much as whether or not the fall would kill her. "Dammit! She won't be able to walk away from a fall like that. Let's just take the nearest exit and go around."

When the guards arrived, all they found was a bag with the night diamonds. The guards spent hours and hours searching, but Melody was nowhere to be found. No one in Loguetown had ever seen the girl again. Some said her jumping out the window was just a distraction to steal other valuable gems, some say that she had an accomplice to catch her at the bottom and they got away with the diamonds that they had switched with fakes, some even say that she had the ability to fly and just dropped the bag by accident. She never revealed her secret escape technique to anyone.

After a few more years of crime, the girl eventually had a family and settled down. She mothered three children, all girls and all as mischievous as she was; Symphony, Duet and Harmony. All of her children were by the man that charmed her and convinced her to leave her life of crime behind her and settle down. A man that was said to have scooped her off of her feet and never put her back down: a man named Angel M. Lafayette. Melody always tells her daughters that her last robbery was also the most important 'job' that she had ever had. That last robbery was completely stealing their father's heart.

Doesn't have much to do with the SL, but you still haven't updated Melody's Edit Box. I know you're dropping her and all, but you still need to do it.

Item Box!

Though she dropped most of the rings when she decided it was poking her sides too much, one ominous-looking ring remained in her bag, as if it chose to be there.
Ring of Insanity

The ring looks just like any ordinary emerald-studded ring, with three small emeralds surrounded a larger emerald, like the points of a triangle. However, those more aware of their surroundings can easily detect an ominous feel to it, and if worn, the user will be able to hear just the faintest of cackling. Appraisers say it is a ring that few have known of, but has a dark history; It contains a poison that, when given to a man, will cause him to enter a berserk state and kill everyone in his sight before dying himself. This led the ring to being used to massacre whole families, and even a whole castle once.

The ring cracks on usage, but it recovers over a long period of time -- around 100 years. According to the appraiser, the ring has only recovered to a quarter of its power, and such will not be lethal. However, when struck close enough to the nose -- therefore, around the face -- the gas can still create a man to go berserk, albeit more weakly and dizzily, swinging his weapon around him aimlessly or just throwing his fists at the air for three posts, before fainting. When used, the gem will crack, and it will lay dormant for another 100 years, but the ring's mad cackles can still be heard, barely, when worn.
