Silver Wind Island
Island Map

Desc.

Silver Wind Island, a cozy little island somewhere in North Blue. The island only goes through spring and summer seasons, making it a place where plants and insects flourish. The forest there was named National Park. Presumably something the World Government came up with. The citizens of the island are mostly researchers and their children. Researchers settled the island years ago upon discovery when the island was first discovered by the World Government. A short time after first settling the island, a fire broke out in the residential district, causing the houses to be burned beyond repair. The inhabitants then settled the northeastern part of the island. The first research center was built in the northeastern section of the island, but after the fire a new building was built in southeast portion. The old research center was converted into a bio dome to see how plants and bugs interact with the local flora and fauna before introducing them into the island's forest.

Before the arrival of the researchers, the island was already flooded with plants and bugs. The fires caused them to put off a few years of research and they hadn't had time to go and collect while rebuilding their homes. It had become a tradition that every first Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of the month that the children will go out and collect bugs from the forest. But as the number of undiscovered species dwindled, it was decided to just be held on Saturdays to slow the discoveries of new species.

A loud yawn erupted that could be heard in every corner of North Blue. A man laid back in a small boat, relaxing the time away. His red hair swayed gently in the direction of the prevailing winds. This day was a fine day to drift and let the sea choose his course. There was no ounce of worry on the man's mind. Nothing could ruin his day at this point. The ship thumped into an object, bringing it to a halt. Even though the ship stopped advancing, Caelum just laid there. From his being, not a single fuck emanated. Seconds turned to minutes turned to a few hours. He had multiple dreams that seemed to be ephemeral. One had him romancing multiple ladies. Another had him gorging himself on pastries. Each was short but sweet.

"Sorry!" A young voice snapped Caelum out of his sweet dreams. Before his eyes were even all the way open, he could see a figure coming at him. From past experience, he could tell this would not end well. The figure crashed right into him, tipping the boat over. When he fully opened his eyes underwater, he saw white diamond shaped holes and a young boy with a straw hat. "WHY," was the only thought that crossed his mind. The boy seemed to be making apologetic gestures. Caelum just pointed upwards, signaling the boy to swim up. The to surfaced and swam to a nearby dock. One looked like he was the catch of the day. if one were to turn him into a competition, they would surely take first place for catching one of the most handsome fish in the sea.

The young boy removed his net from the head of the red-headed man. Caelum moved his hair from blocking his eyes with his hands. "I'm so sorry! I didn't think that bug would land on your face! I was just trying to catch it!" The boy seemed to be sincere with his apology, so Caelum didn't worry too much about it. "It's okay. Just try not to bother me anymore while I'm sleeping, young lad." Caelum patted him on the head. "What is your name?" The kid finished taking his breaths from his being tired out by his long-winded apology. "It's Ed. Yours?" A serious look shot upon the bounty hunter's face. "You shouldn't be talking to strangers," he started "but since it's me, I'll forgive you this one time, young one." Caelum ran his hand through his hair for a quick-fix and flicked his arms through the air to dry himself(or try). "I am Caelum Colasour! A semi-semi-semi-famous bounty hunter!" "Ah cool!" Ed rejoiced. "But uhh... not many pirates come through here." Caelum didn't seem too worried about the boy's words. "I am sort of on a vacation. No worries. if a pirate did happen to come through here, I'll put him down for you!" He proclaimed, rather loudly.

After a few minutes of more useless small-talk. The two parted ways. "He seemed like a nice kid. And this seems like a nice island."

The town was quite alive. After all it was Saturday! As Caelum walked into town there were plenty of kids and their parents heading towards the forest entrance. the kids cheered and some had balloons, others had nets for... Fishing? or bugcatching? Either way a standard net on a stick. The kids smiled with joy and their parents as well. In all the commotion there was a single man with a billboard on his body handing out fliers. It seemed the town went all out now that this week had some major competitors in the bugcatching contest... "Here you go, lad!" he said while handing Caelum a flier. He appeared to be a man of average build in his twenties. His billboard read: "Silver Wind Bugcatching Contest! Participate for the grand prize!". he prize however was merely a silhouette of some kind of fruit.

The flier had basically the same information but with some added details: "Today and today only, anyone could win this fantastic prize! Anyone can participate! Catch the biggest and rarest bug in the forest to win! Any bugs caught can be kept after being examined by our team of researchers! the perfect opportunity for collectors to get their hands on rare bugs and win bragging rights!". It went on and on about how great the contest was. If Caelum would follow the crowd, he'd encounter a sign-up area near a stage in front of the forest entrance. Strange as it was this island really had a summer feel to it even though it was in the north blue. Several desks with helpful girls were prepared for the stream of competitors.

At the stage a man looking fit to be called the mayor walked up and picked up the microphone. He had a top hat, a fancy black tux and a smooth Dali moustache. The thing that made him mayor was probably the mayor scarf though... the man tapped the microphone to test it and began speaking: "Welcome to our weekly bug catching contest! Though we do this every week, this week is special as we have some prime contenders! First up is Jorge Von Shmetterling!". The mayor pointed at a young man walking on stage. He had a fancy net on him and a box for keeping bugs but looked fairly friendly. Short blond hair, a plain blue t-shirt with 'Buzz Off' written on it (most likely Doskoi Panda brand) and some cargo shorts and hiking boots... He had a friendly smile on his face as he waved towards the crowd. "Haha, ya... Let's make it fun! I don't care about winning or losing I just want to find some cool bugs." he said.

"Next up is a season winner... Give it up for Wheatley Wise!" the mayor shouted. A small boy with large glasses walked on stage. A white short sleeved shirt with a tie, shorts and sandals along with an even fancier net and box, the young boy was smirking and adjusted his glasses before looking into the crowd. "*snort-laugh* I'm in for the prize... I already know all the bugs in this forest..." he said on a smirk tone.

"And last but not least! Our Dark horse contender... Travis McTavish!" the mayor continued as a young man, maybe in his early twenties walked on stage. He had his hair styled in a pompadour with some fresh sideburns. His net looked old but steady. The man was quite the eyecatcher with a bright red leather jacket, plain white t-shirt with the words 'Keeping it real... In South Blue' on it along with a pair of black jeans and red sneakers. Some aviator sunglasses were adjusted as he spoke: "No way I'm losing this! This one is for the fans!" he shouted to the crowd. A group of girls screeched as he pointed towards them and gave them a gunfinger. "Stay tuned as we will give you all a sneak peak on the prize shortly!" the mayor said before the group on stage retreated towards the crowd. It seemed like the three of them were quite popular as they were almost immediately asked for autographs and adice on the competition. Jorge seemed to be giving advice mostly while Travis was signing a girl's stomach. Wheatley was making a gameplan near the stage and shrugged off any attempts to approach him.

"Bug Catching Contest?" Caelum perused the paper as he walked over to the sign-up area. He had no particular plans for doing anything that day. Actually, he had never really planned to land on that island. "I am pretty hungry, and that prize looks like some type of fruit." Why he would enter a contest for something to eat and not just go to the store is a mystery that shall never be solved.

The crowd seemed pretty big for such an odd event. He had no idea something that only weirdos and researchers did could be considered a sporting event. There were even some pretty girls out there. Some pretty girls were even among the attendees. Almost half of them were gathered around the pompous-looking guy with the out of style haircut. He sort of struck Caelum as a lame imitation of himself. And lame was right. That guy was nowhere near as handsome or cool as Caelum was. To flaunt that coolness, he threw on his aviators, pulled his lighter out of his pocket and popped a cigarette out of his pack. The tip of the cigarette met with the flame of his lighter in seconds. He secured the cigarette between his lips as he put the lighter away.

"Next please!" Caelum walked up to the sign-up desk. The girl behind the desk was quite the looker. Blond hair, green eyes, a smile that cold cure a third-world island of all of it's diseases. Her body wasn't bad either. Seriously, it was okay. Caelum quickly dropped his cigarette on the ground and stomped it out. "Hello sir, how may I help you?" She asked politely with that peace-restoring smile of hers. "Well," Caelum moved in closely to check out her name tag. The square sticker that laid upon her left breast had her name, Sarah, written in marker. "Sarah? You could help me by doing me the pleasure of letting me take you out." She politely smiled and grabbed a pen. "How about we start with you feeling out this form if you want to participate in this week's contest?" She placed the pen on an entry form and slid both items over to the man. "Eh, I'd rather we start by making plans for our date." Caelum slid the paper and pen over to the left. "I saw this great restaurant on my way over here. They have some type of exotic meal called 'escargot'." The Susan couldn't help but giggle at his ignorance.

Several minutes of desperation and the cries of angry bug collectors passed until Caelum finally got her to agree to a date. On the condition that he placed first in the contest, he would take her out and buy her the fanciest meal. "So now that that's done, will you please sign your name and information?" For about the 5th time, she slid the paper over to him. He signed it and filled out all of the required information before sliding it back over to his prospective date, relieving her of the headache known as Caelum Colasour. "Kay-luhm?" She asked as she looked at him. "Oh forgive me! I have been so eager to gain your affection that I haven't even given you my name. I'm Caelum Colasour!" He pinched his aviators and removed them. His emerald green eyes gazed upon the beauty before him. "SEE-luhm," he said with the most sensual voice he could muster. Just from looking at her face, he could tell he was melting her soul with his very words. "OKAY WE GET IT! YOU WANT HER! HURR GODDAMN DURR! WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 12 MINUTES! GET OUT OF LINE!" Caelum looked back to see a frustrated faces behind him. It looked like the situation would go nowhere but south if he stayed any longer, so he wished Sarah a farewell and promptly left.

The bounty hunter turned bug catcher for love put his glasses back on as he waded through the crowd. He would need a net and some other equipment if he was going to do this. Luckily, he happened to bump into a cool dude. Said cool dude was actually a middle-aged woman, but age and gender do not hinder one from being considered a cool dude. "Sorry ma'am," Caelum said as he bowed. "If I knew there would have been so many lovely women at this nerd contest, I would have been more careful." Caelum had been there for quite some time so he knew the crowd had a sizable amount of women. But the woman had something he wanted. Something he needed badly. Something every man wants at every point in their lives. She was dragging a cooler full of lemonade behind her. Caelum sifted through his brain for compliments. He seemed to have a compliment for every type of female and for every age of female. After finding the right words, he threw his best material at her to butter her up. Minutes of subtle compliments and small talk passed until he became tired. He had to give up. She was just not going to give it up on this day. but before he left, he felt that he was entitled to get some information out of her. "Where do I get equipment for the Bug Catching Contest?" The woman pointed over to a few men standing behind counters with nets, boxes and tools behind them. "Thanks," Caelum said as he turned away to get his tools for the contest. "Young man! If you are entering the contest then take this!" The woman pulled a bottle of lemonade from her cooler and handed it to Caelum as he turned around. "All contestants get free drinks for the day." The red headed man put his aviators back on and thanked her with a big grin.

The men at the booth were pretty nice. They were going to give Caelum all of the equipment he needed for free. Caelum declined and instead purchased some of the high-middle tier equipment. The free stuff was cheap and he felt that he needed something that would not break easily. In his possession he had a Butterfree Brand net, the Dustox Ver. SA3, a Forretress Stainless Steel bug holding box, some Vespiquen honey bait and some tools to fix his equipment in case something went wrong. He was now officially ready to hunt some bugs.

While everyone was getting ready and meeting the V.I.P.'s the mayor and some guards pulled a trolley on stage. It had a simple red velvet cover with a pineapple like figure beneath it. The mayor approached the microphone and began speaking very enthusiastic: "And now the moment some of you have been waiting for! The reveal of our prize! it's a..." the mayor quickly ran over to the trolley and took the mic out of it's stand with him. As he grabbed the cover and pulled it off a red pineapple fruit seemed to be revealed. It had many swirls over it and gave off a creepy aura. The crowd awed in it's reveal but it was concealed again shortly after. "The winner will not only receive bragging rights... They will also receive this fruit we found in the forest as the prize! A mythical Devil's Fruit, rumoured to give the most amazing powers or even sell for hundreds of millions... Will the winner become rich or powerful? Only time can tell!" he shouted as he raised his finger in the air.

The contestants were making their way to the starting line or simply the entrance of the forest. to prevent a stampede, people were given a number when signing up and people were let in randomly like in a lottery. A huge barrel with numbers was present at the starting line. As the lady at the barrel spun it around with a wheel of sorts and drew numbers, contestants entered the forest. There was less than a minute between numbers drawn so things went swift yet orderly. a Stamped would also disturb the wildlife... It seems Caelum was lucky as his number was drawn pretty early, maybe 10 to 15 people went before him. A noticeable leave was Travis as his fangirl base was quiet for a while now. It seems he beat at least two other top contenders to the draw. With a good luck from the lady at the lottery barrel, Caelum was free to enter the forest and explore...

Caelum entered the forest with high curiosity. He had no idea what to expect. Since there were a few youngin's in the contest, there couldn't have been any creatures too frightening. Sunbeams shone through the trees to brighten the forest. "Alright. Alright, alright..." Caelum held onto his net tightly with both hands. His bug holding box tapped his hip annoyingly as he walked forward. He had purchased the Forretress Stainless steel box shoulder strap at the last minute when some guy mentioned how it was an essential buy. With no bugs in sight yet, things were becoming a bit stale. "Geez, where are all of you six and eight and ten legged freeks?" A branch snapped in half as he stepped forward. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZZZ A buzzing sound passed behind the man. "The hell wazzat?" His body turned as he wielded his net like his staff. This was thanks to the Butterfree brand extender he had also purchased at the last minute.

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzz The same buzzing sound was louder and even more annoying as it practically tickled his ear. "THE HELL?!" Caelum swung his net all over, trying to catch the bug while warding it off. The bug seemed to be invisible. he could not see it or catch it or get it away from his person. it was possibly the most annoying bug he had encountered thus far in his life. Even more annoying than that giant bug he and Anew had encountered that time they went on a bounty hunt together. And that one ate his tuna sandwich.

The annoying bug half tempted him to pull out his actual staff and bat it to death, but bugs seemed to be central to this island and he could not do anything that would hurt them. He also had no idea who would walk by as he dealt the finishing blow to the vermin. "Cool it Colasour, we can't let this slimy thing get the best of us." His thought stuck around in his head for a few seconds. "Or the best of me, rather." The buzzing continued as Caelum tried to track it down with his eyes and ears. His eyes darted about until he finally spotted a little yellow bug a few inches from his face. "Dammit!" he shouted as he jumped backwards a few feet. His eyes stayed on the bug so he wouldn't lose it. he wasn't exactly sure of what species it was, it seemed to be some sort of bee or wasp. Whatever it was, it was going to be his.

Caelum spun his net around like his staff and lunged forward. First he tried fast, soft swipes. The bug seemed to be mocking him, swiftly flying around each swipe like an expert dodger. Agitated, he started jabbing at the bug as if it were a human. The jabbing was even more ineffective. The bug flew past his face and Caelum quickly changed directions to keep on the bug. One last desperate swing seemed to knock the bug from it's flight pattern. The yellow menace hit the ground, creating a rather large sound on impact. "It's a hiiiiiiiiiit!" The man celebrated a bit until he remembered that he needed to catch the bug. When he saw that it was getting it's wings ready for flight, he went into action. "Not on my watch you don't! Catch Smash!" Caelum held his net over his head and jumped forward as he brought the net down, hoping to trap the bug before it could fly off.

The wasp had no place to go... As it took flight it was surrounded by the net and was trapped in Caelum's grasp. The young man had won, but this was a simple catch. The jury had to be rigged beyond any reason to let a simple wasp win... It was a nice catch but no real prize keeper. Suddenly Travis walked in from the other side of the woods. Oh Hey? you caught something? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa- A simple wasp?!? Duuuuuuuuude you gotta step up yo game. I got a Hercules and a Beautifly already, gotta step up yo game..." He said as he rubbed his back. Though his net looked worn, it seemed to be of Scizor brand, rumoured to be swift and strong but not so durable. The box strapped around his body was not a fortress brand but Cloyster, from it's bug line. Maybe he was saving cash, or maybe he wanted to prove something but Caelum was better prepared than one of the top 3 so that might give a confidence boost.

"Look man, I'm in this to win. That Devil fruit is gonna give me a whole new life of wealth, fame and women. Thing is that I don't want to win when my opponents ain't trying... The fancy bugs don't move a lot until they notice you so it's harder to spot them too. If you got some bait you should be able to get a Hercules in like 5 minutes, those guys are suckers for honey. But if you wanna win, you're gonna need something real fancy like the golden Hercules or the Azure Water strider. I'm going for that last one in particular. You gotta catch 'em by the water though... Anyway good luck man, I hope you catch some more interesting stuff Cuz that just be sad...". Travis walked off and waved with the back of his hand as he headed deeper into the forest, probably towards the lake or the swamp.

Suddenly a silver shine appeared somewhere deeper in the forest. Could it be the rumoured Silver Ladybug? Somewhere in the distance the Silver Ladybug had just landed on a small yellow flower in the middle of a rainbow coloured field. it stood out like a sore thumb but was incredibly fast. Stealth could be a good approach as a chase could end up very tiring. Or maybe baiting?

The laid back blond hair dude critiqued Caelum's capture rather honestly. Even though the guy seemed like he was in it for the sake of his livelihood, he gave Caelum some awesome advice. Caelum decided to let his catch go after Travis left. Only the most elegant, strong and obscure bugs would be placed in his box. He had no time for the commons. The wasp flew off into the distance as the bounty hunter raised his net. He sighed and turned. "Time to go after some actual game." He walked deeper into the forest to see what he could spot.

"They don't move until they spot me, eh?" Caelum surveyed the area once again for anything that seemed out of the ordinary. He saw nothing other than caterpillars and other common bugs. Nothing truly dazzling had appeared before him. "Maybe I shouldn't have let that wasp go? I could have trained it to become an assassin. With those elite assassin skills, it could have murdered the bugs of everyone else that stood in my way. Except for maybe beetles. Their shells are too hard for it to pierce with its stinger. I would have had to get the wasp a cybernetic surgery and laser cannons for it to become a true killer. Actually, after I gotten it upgraded i wouldn't even need it to take out the competition. It would be marvelous all on it's own." As he turned back to recapture the wasp, the slight gleaming of a silver light caught his attention.

"Ah, what ever could that spectacular silver sparkling be?" As he followed the small glimmer, it brought him to a small clearing full of different colors and sunlight. Upon a yellow flower sat the silver bug that had reflected the sunlight off of itself to bring Caelum closer. Or so Caelum believed. "That thing looks pretty snazzy, I can't go spooking it off." Caelum plopped down to think about how he could get the little bug to chillax for a few seconds. Nothing was coming to him fast enough. He figured by the time he had came across an idea, the bug would ave finished it's meal and flew off into the distance. Eating? When he thought hard about it, he did recall Travis saying something about honey. But how would he get close enough to bait the ladybug without scaring it off?

He pulled out his trusty black paintball gun with the red handle, Patrick. He quickly emptied out the ammunition and placed the bullets in his lap. They weren't really bullets, but they were paintballs shaped like bullets. Hopefully this plan wouldn't screw his gun up. He didn't know how long it would take until he would be able to get to an island that could repair it for cheap. He pulled out his jar of honey paint and dipped a few of the bullets inside. Hopefully soaking the bullets in honey would attract the bug. After dipping in all six of his shots he waited a minute or them to dry off, while still keeping a valiant watch on that beautiful bug. When he realized he was wasting too much time, he just loaded the damn things into his guns.

Now he had to determine how exactly he would shot the honey paint at the bug. He couldn't shoot it too close and scare it off. but he couldn't shoot it too far away and have it be ignored. From his current position, he felt like his view wasn't the greatest. Caelum turned around to see if there were any trees that could give him a better view of things. Luckily there was a tree right behind him with a branch that seemed sturdy enough to bear his weight. The red headed young man quickly scaled the tree and hung onto the branch with his whole left arm. He held out his gun with the silver bug in his sights. He then moved it slightly to the right to position the aiming away from the bug. "Alright..." With the left eye closed, he started holding the trigger tighter. After finding the perfect spot, he quickly fired off two rounds. The ladybug flew up in surprise and hovered for a bit. It then hovered closer to he pain for a bit. It must have found the honey paint a bit luring. In the end, it just settled for a nearby flower.

"Damn it." he let go of the branch and landed in a patch of grass. "I guess we'll be doing this the old fashion way." He twirled his net in the air before holding it out and pointing it to declare war. Caelum crept ever so slightly around and toward the bug. He had no idea where it's front end and back end were from his position so he had to take the long route. At this point he was merely feet away from his prospective capture. He had to either take a chance to get closer or swing and hope for the best.

Caelum held his net out and took half a step forward. using most of his upper body strength, he swung the net horizontally from left to right. This thing was his, he could feel it in his heart and soul.

The Silver Ladybug was no pushover like that wasp he caught earlier. The little bug dashed away from the net in a flash of light, only to land on another flower a little further. As if it was mocking Caelum it gently landed on it and waited for his approach. However the honey from earlier attracted some other bugs, fairly common ones like butterflies, bees and even... An Emerald Praying Mantis?!? Rumoured as the Scyther, it was catching bees from the air and devouring them. Quite large, rare, pretty and deadly this bug was merciless to lower tier nets and equipment. Some say it can rip through most nets in less than a second...

The question remained was going after the Silver Ladybug useful? Perhaps the Ladybug ran from this predator here. the Ladybug however was aware of him while the Emerald Mantis was not... However the mantis would need to be secured in a glass bottle or so in the box or he'd eat every other capture Caelum would make. Choices... would he use his luck and go for the Praying Mantis or continue the chase for the Ladybug?

Meanwhile, Wheatley had entered the forest and was heading for a specific area in it as he encountered the flowerfield. Notcing Caelum swinging his net and a silver flash dashing off, the young boy quickly realised what was going on. Whatever prey Caelum would let go, would be his certain capture... The boy smirked as he got down and hid in the bushes for the right time.

"Damn you," Caelum pulled his net back as the silver ladybug fled from him. that thing was one of the fastest things he'd seen. He was not going to let this thing get away from him. It's shining shell underneath the sun just seemed to draw thee man in. He readied his body for another attempt to capture the bug. "One, two, thee, four, five, six, seven, eight, eight, nine, ten, eleven, go!" Caelum took off for the silver beauty but stopped as soon as he took two steps. "Huh?" A gathering of bugs caught his attention. They were all gathering around the spot where he fired his honey paintball shots. Most of the bugs seemed like fodder. Caelum quickly turned his attention back to the ladybug and then back to the group of bugs. He realized there had been some badass bug devouring the others.

"Ah! That one looks pretty cool!" His head turned back and forth between the lady bug and the badass mantis. The mantis definitely won in the 'cool' department, though the ladybug seemed to trump it in elegance. He took one last look at the mantis before deciding and the mantis cut down a butterfly that got too close. "Thanks for making this decision easier, Mr. Mantis." Caelum wished the ladybug a farewell and turned his body to the mantis. he decided not to use roundabout tactics this time. He would go straight for the capture. Wasting no time, he clutched his net and readied himself.

A net came crashing down around the unsuspecting bug, trapping it. Caelum rejoiced and celebrated. When he went to collect the bug, he noticed part of his net had been ripped open, and the mantis had gone back to being a badass a near the honey. The bug hunter picked up the net and examined it. "Well damn," he said with slight disappointment. He should have realized that the mantis would escape. Caelum was also a badass. And there's no way you could keep a true badass confined in thin nets. Since the mantis didn't really seem to care about fleeing, Caelum suspected that it must have been a top predator. Now all the man had to do was figure out how to use that to his advantage. The red head plopped down once again to figure it all out.

Light bulbs rang in his head like church bells after a wedding. Or church bells at noon. Actually, let's just say church bells at any time when they ring. Those things are loud as hell. Maybe comparing the volume of church bells to hell was a bad idea... Caelum scooped up his supplies and went over to the site of the honey paint. There was still a good amount of bugs and the Emerald Praying Mantis was still there. He dipped two fingers i his honey jar and spread some honey out into his box. Caelum strategically placed the box about a foot and a half away from the bugs. The box was on its side with the lid opened all of the way. He just sat there and waited for the bugs to go for the honey and for the mantis to follow. This was a basic plan, but it was a classic and it always seemed to work in books.

A few bees buzzed into the box and so did a few normal ladybugs. But Caelum wasn't concerned with them. His eyes were fixated upon that goddamn mantis, watching it's every move. The more his eyes stalked it, the more he realized that the bug rivaled his badassery.

The trick was maybe basic but the instincts of the mantis and the other bugs were mighty predictable as well. Though the crowd was less this time the bugs were still attracted to the scent of the honey and it seemed the mantis wasn't full yet. Though it was almost stupid, the plan played out just like Caelum had planned. The only thing that was missing was a potato chip to celebrate the victory. Of course, it was a death trap for the bugs inside the box. Literally as they were stuck with a merciless hungry bug in a metal box. Not to mention the scary darkness. If a bug could screech, this would be a great opportunity.

Suddenly Caelum's moment of joy was interrupted by a creepy yet familiar laugh. A nerdy snort to be precise. "Bravo..." Wheatley said as he walked up to Caelum. "Catching a predator like that is quite the feat. Yet it won't give you the win." he said as he held a jar with the Silver Ladybug from before. He put the jar in his box and adjusted his glasses. "Just as I'm not going to win with just this ladybug. You got a nice strong capture there but without a second elegant capture you can't win. The grades are pretty steep if you want to beat this capture though..." he said as he tapped the box hanging from his shoulder.

"Hence why I'm off to catch the legendary Golden Hercules beetle. The combination of silver and gold is just perfect! You can struggle with your mantis and whatever else you can catch... But this contest is mine!" he said as he walked away in a deeper part of the forest. Smug and arrogant, he really came off like a douche. He did have a point though. If Caelum wasn't so bus flirting at the sign up he could have read the rules and noticed that part about it... He'd have to explore the forest some more maybe and look for the counterpart of this Mantis to succeed in a winning combination.

Oh boy. It's never a successful party without the elitest neighborhood douche to spoil things. The rather small kid with the glasses taunted Caelum with his catch of the Silver ladybug that he had decided was too fast. The kid must have been a pro to catch something that fast. He didn't even seem winded at all, so he must have had some type of trick to his success. After parading around his silver captive, he proceeded to drop a rather large bomb onto Caelum's head; to win you needed two bugs. After dropping that small, minute detail onto Caelum's noggin, he boasted some more about a combination of silver and gold and winning the competition and then left. Caelum stuck his tongue out at the kid and flipped him off with his ring finger when the boy's back was turned to him. Using your middle finger to mock a child is deplorable. Though any other finger is fine with society.

Caelum scooped up his box and left the clearing. He thought very hard about what the douche kid had said to him. "Silver and gold... That is quite the winning combination. What would compliment this little guy?" Caelum thought about his badass mantis. "Well, for starters, it's a badass. So I guess i should go for something beautiful. When it comes to looks..." Caelum held up the box and peered through the glass. "Like some type of really shiny green color. What would that be called?" His hand massaged his chin while he thought hard about the color. "Oh! It sort of resembles an emerald!" He exclaimed rather loudly to himself. With that figured out, he just needed to figure out what would compliment his new friend. The only color he could think of that went with emerald was sapphire. So a shiny blue bug was going to be the next thing that felt the wrath of his net.

Nothing was going to be stopping him and his net. Nothing. Not even that sizeable hole that was in it. On second thought, that might have been a bit of a problem. He took off his box and placed it on the ground. me mad sure that the lid was secured shut so that nothing could eescape. He then spread out everything he had purchased, except for the bait and sat down. He picked up some screw drivers and screws and went to work. If this was anything like maintaining his guns, then this would be a breeze. He unscrewed the snipped up net and quickly tossed it to the side. He than began putting on the new net and then secured it tightly. "Good as new," he said as he held up the net in the air, as if it were the most recent lion cub born. Caelum gathered up all of his tools and box and was about to set off. The old net caught his eye. He couldn't just leave it there, lying on the ground. Everything has a purpose and he would find a way to use it. He grabbed it and put it in his pocket to save for a rainy day.

Wth a new net, a prize catch under his belt, and a boost of morale, it was time to catch a glamorous, shiny blue bug.

All set and ready for the capture a change of location would be wise. Lucky that Caelum was given a map of the forest at the sign-up which he now noticed while repairing his net. The young man going after a Sapphire bug would be wise and there was only a single bug in this forest that fit that description. Elegant and Sapphire... The Sapphire Beautifree. A bug only rumoured to even exist in this forest but if the young man could get his hands on that he would surely be noticed at grading. Of course, if the Emerald Mantis wouldn't eat it... Glass jars were an absolute must.

Travelling through the forest to the Sapphire spring, the place where the most pretty of butterflies and other insects gathered, suddenly a voice was heard. It appeared to be coming from a Den Den Mushi in a nearby tree. "Contestants, you have only 20 more minutes remaining. Wrap up your captures because as soon as the time is up, you are not allowed to catch any more bugs. Cheaters will be disqualified. Have a nice day." the Den Den said but kept staring at Caelum. It seems they were being monitored as well. Would make sense since it would have been hard to catch cheaters if they weren't.

Arriving at the sapphire Spring an abundance of pretty bugs could be seen. yet the one specific one was missing. While one cold find nearly every colour of the rainbow in the beautiful treecovered area, the one colour Caelum needed was missing. A few rays of sunlight shone through the treetops and made it quite the view of Flora. But strangely, one of the rays turned into a blue-ish colour just now... And then another, and another! Slowly decending it was the most pretty of all butterflies, the Sapphire Beautyfree. It's wings had a magnificent curve, a radiant Blue colour shone from it's entire body... Even it's legs had a majestic and elegant look to them. It landed gracefully on a Violet flower in the middle of the beautiful scenery. Just this sight would be enough of a prize for most but catching this majestic being... That would be a very hard thing to beat.

After fixing his net, he decided that he needed to test it out. Caelum captured a butterfly. It wasn't what he was looking for, but he decided to put it into the box anyway. It would be a second stringer if the star couldn't make an appearance. But hopefully, he could just release the thing after getting what he wanted. The Den Den Mushi warning him of the time limit made him a bit panicked. At this point he was borderline sprinting through the forest while trying to keep an eye out for his sapphire prize. Nothing of the sort appeared to him while walking, so he thought he would just go to that place labelled 'Sapphire Spring' on the map. it was a good thing that the mantis had cut through his net. If that hadn't happened, he would have never seen the map that pretty much gave him directions to win.

The Sapphire Spring was beautiful. It was magnificent. It was breathtaking. It was astonishing. It was other synonyms for the aforementioned adjectives. There were many elegant bugs and flowers. These flowers were the type that one would give to a girlfriend after making more than a major mistake. Caelum looked around and decided that he would pick a few for his date. She deserved only the best and he would give only the best. Back to the bugs. Yes, there were many of those. Many contenders for most elegant, but none of them were the color Caelum had set his sights on. The man came very close to just calling it a day and swiping a ruby colored grasshopper. Ruby seemed to also call out to the man. It was also something that could complement emerald, but he already had his sights on sapphire. What was it about these colors, ruby, sapphire and emerald, that all seemed to call out to the bounty hunter? before he could figure out the answer, a blue stream of light radiated downwards and stopped his thoughts from going any further.

It was the Sapphire Beautyfree. Words couldn't describe the red headed bounty hunter's emotions. The sapphire specimen just floated down like an angel. "Have you been sent to me by the gods?! Were you sent to me by ribbons?!" A tear ran down his cheek when he thought about his old friend Ribbons Almark the Divine Butterfly. But this was no time for crying or remembrance. It was a time for catching. He sat down his box and prepared himself for capturing this beauty. "If you think you can escape me, then you are sadly mistaken! I will capture you, win that demon's fruit, and go on a date with-with-with..." Caelum scratched his chin. He couldn't remember the name of the lucky lady that he would be dining with. "Whatever her name was, she was hot! So I'll just go ahead and finish this!"

Caelum wasted no time to go on the offensive. He took a long leap forward, swinging his net through the air. The butterfly seemed to have predicted exactly where the net was going to go and dodged it. This process continued through the next few swings. The butterfly zig-zagged through pretty plants. Caelum really didn't want to run through them, but he had to get that magnificent creature. "Eh?" Caelum tripped and fell into the ultra-shallow spring. Luckily, only his face was wet and that sort of revitalized him. Giving him a boost of energy. He pulled himself up and quickly set his sights back onto the butterfly. "Five minutes left contestants. Get those bugs in those nets and boxes!" "Tch. C'mon, at least give me five minutes and fifteen seconds!"

At this point, Caelum and the butterfly were like a tired-out act. Caelum swung, swung, swung and swung while the butterfly dodged, dodged and dodged. Going through the same motions was becoming tiring and time was quickly running out. He had no idea what to do besides swing like hell. "Oh I see." Something had enlightened the man. Instead of swinging wildly behind the butterfly, he decided to run in front of it. When Caelum cut off its path, it quickly changed directions. "Ah," Caelum repeated the process a few more times. The last time he did it he held his net up at the point where the butterfly had turned the last couple of times. It flew directly into the net, giving him a solid 'V'. The Sapphire Beautyfree was tangled within his net, struggling to free itself. "Sorry little one, I need you to win this contest. If it helps to ease you pain, I'll release your friend."

When Caelum got back to his box, he was ready to open it and throw the Sapphire Beautyfree inside. But when he opened it up he saw something that made him hesitate. The backup butterfly he had captured was ripped to shreds. The pieces of its mangled corpse was the freshest among the all of the pieces of bugs in there. He had forgotten that the mantis was a vicious badass that didn't take shit from anything or anyone. It didn't even take shit from things that weren't giving it shit. He really had no idea of what to do. He couldn't force the butterfly to stay in the net. He would either end up crushing it or it would it escape. And not even the Pirate King himself would last two minutes in that box with the mantis.

"One minute left contestants!" A stray bee started buzzing around Caelum's honey jar. Caelum slapped it away. He quickly realized his mistake and tried to revive the poor fella. If it weren't for the bee he'd still be twiddling his thumbs. Caelum quickly emptied as much honey as he could by scraping it out with his hands. once emptied, he poked holes in the lid with the screwdriver. His quick wit allowed him to assemble a containment jar for the sapphire goddess. He quickly placed the butterfly in there and rejoiced. With this, the Bounty Hunter had become an even better Bug Catcher. The folks in the Viridian Forest would be proud. Quickly, he gathered all of his things and started heading back.

ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ

The further he got, the more bees there seemed to be following him. "What the hell do you guys want? I have my prize catches, buzz the hell off!" Caelum waved his hand to flag them off. The bees got angry and stung his hand. "You monsters!" Caelum exclaimed as he started speeding up and away from the bees. He sucked his hand to ease the pain of the sting. "Oh." His hand tasted like honey and that was probably why he had so many bee stalkers. Not wanting to be stung again, he ran until he reached the entrance.

Caelum's chase was really something astounding. A swarm of bees from before was chasing him. Maybe the one hornet he had set free called it's friends for payback? In any case it was closer than anyone could imagine but Caelum was saved as soon as he hit the pavement outside the forest. The bees suddenly headed back and flew for a broken jar full of honey. "Hey are you alright?" a friendly yet familiar voice said. It was Jorge, one of the top contenders introduced before the contest. He reached his hand out for possible support. "Boy, you sure made those bugs angry... Lucky I saved my honey for an occasion like this huh, hahah. Well best of luck to you. I only caught some commons for the fun so don't worry about losing to me." Jorge said with a pad on Caelum's shoulder.

"*Snort-laugh* But you should worry about me..." A familiar and douchy voice said. It was Wheatley and assuming he had a smirk tone and a grin on his face the boy had succeeded in his combination. The boy adjusted his glasses and with a "Hhhmpp" he proceeded for grading. "You LITTLE DOUCHEBAG!" suddenly was heard from out of the forest.

It was Travis and he didn't look in the best of shapes... His jacket was ripped, Pants became shorts and the glass of his aviators was cracked and even missing some segments. "That golden Bug was MINE, what the hell did you think you were doing?!?" He shouted as he walked up to Caelum. The boy smirk-laughed again and continued walking. "That little douche... He set up a bunch of pitfalls and bear traps throughout the forest to stop people from winning... I was about to catch The golden Hercules as I fell into one of that little Ffffff... Fudger's pitfalls..." he said as he calmed down. "Dude, I hope you got some good captures... Otherwise that Son of a bitch will win..." he said as he left leaving a boost of hope through a pad on the shoulder.

Travis headed straight into his fangirl group who were shocked to see him like this as a high pitched scream could be heard. He just acted cool and shrugged it off in front of them. Throwing his arms around as many girls as he could they walked off into the crowd, probably to await results. A nice lady walked up to Caelum. "May I have you capture box for grading, sir?" she said.

After a gruesome half hour of waiting an anticipation the judges came out again. 2 men and a female all in their 40ties or beyond took a seat at a table on stage. The mayor awaited the results as exited as the rest of the crowd. The lady took the microphone and proceeded to speak: "First of all I would like to thank anyone who participated. Everyone receives a complementary Citrus Peach for participation. And now the winner is... Caelum A. Colasour!" she said in an upbeat tone. A round of applause was given as Caelum was pushed on stage. Somewhere int eh Crowd Wheatley had fainted, Travis had raised his fist with a laugh and Jorge was nodding happily while applauding.

"It was a close call, yet Caelum won due to his combination of the Emerald Mantis and the Sapphire Beautyfree. Wheatley was close but Caelum's combo had more colour, elegance and... Dare I say... Bad-assery? Congratulations boy!" she said as the judges gave him an applause as well. The mayor handed him the creepy yet cool fruit as the crowd cheered for his victory.

"Ahahah! I have no idea about what I should say. I'd like to thank Travis there for giving me some advice." He pointed down at Travis, who pointed right back up at him. "Also, I'd like to thank Wheatley." Caelum looked around for the boy. He happened to be sprawled out unconsciously on the ground with a few people trying to revive him. "Oh, well. I'd like to thank the judges for choosing my combination as the one that stood above all others." He took a look at the devil fruit in hand as he listened to the applause of the crowd. Caelum raised the devil fruit triumphantly to get one last roar from the crowd. The Bug Catching Champion shook the hands of each of the judges and the mayor before hopping off of the stage.

Before his feet even touched the ground, people started running up to him. Young kids were asking for his autographs, other contestants were asking for tips and girls were throwing phone numbers. Some woman even threw her fishnets at the man, telling him to use them for his net. He assured her that he would use them for the net in the next contest. After a few minutes, he decided to find the girl that he had promised a date to. The crowd around him was fierce, so he had to wade through it like there were sharks in the water. "Sarah! Sarah!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, hoping his voice would reach his damsel. Once he finally got out of the crowd, she was right there in front of him. "Sarah, I-" before he could finish, she ran up to him and threw her arms around the champion. "I didn't think you would actually win! You must have really wanted to go on a date with me, huh?"

The two agreed to meet at a restaurant later that night and then parted ways. Caelum decided to do a bit of sightseeing for a few hours until it was time for their date. After he finished his grand tour, there was still a bit of time left over for doing nothing. The bounty hunter still carried his tools from his bug catching days. Since he was a one and done kind of guy, there would be no real need to keep them. "Maybe that kid wants this stuff? He did give me his address to pay him a visit before I left. I guess there would be no harm in going." The kid's directions were shotty and every house in the area looked similar. By luck, he happened to spot the young lad enter his house. Caelum was running late, like really late. There was no time to talk to the boy so he knocked on the door and left all of the equipment on the door step. With the equipment there was a note: "Dear Ed, you can have these."

Finding the restaurant was even more difficult than finding the house of the boy. He ran through many streets, alleyways, a house and even a small pond. The restaurant was no where to be found. He had passed it once while looking for Ed's house. "Dammit! I skipped lunch for this and now I can't find it." He sighed as he flopped down onto a nearby bench. He pulled out the devil fruit that he had just obtained and examined it. Caelum's stomach grumbled as he inspected the fruit. The red, pineapple-shaped fruit was covered in swirls. The fruit was a bit creepy, but the stomach of the champion called out to him to eat it. "Alright, dammit!" Caelum held the fruit at his mouth and started chomping away at the fruit until only the leafy stem remained. "Oh shit, wait! i won't be able to swim anymore!" Caelum tried to hack up the fruit, but his body was having no part in that. The fruit quickly settled inside of him. "Caelum! What are you doing out here, silly?" A familiar voice called to him from inside the door of a nearby establishment.

Caelum walked over and realized that the restaurant had been there all along. He just couldn't see the sign because it was pretty damn dark outside. He sat down at a table with his date and engaged in a few minutes' worth of small talk. The devil fruit had actually filled him up and he wasn't too hungry. "Yeah I'll just have your sweetest sweet tea and some pastries if you have those." The champion handed the menu to the server. "I'll have the ceasar salad and a diet coke," Sarah said as she handed her menu to the server. "No wonder you have such a nice body with a diet like that." "Caelum, you're too much. I'm glad i decided to take you up on your offer, you're a really nice guy and i'd love to get to know you better." This excited Caelum, no other girl had said such things on the first date. This might have been love at first sight, and there may not have been another time.

"If you really feel that way, then I can stay on this island! I have a moderate amount of money and my parents are merchants! They could give me great financial advice and a bit of start up cash as we open our own business!" "Yes! Yes! Yes! Let's do it," her eyes lit up with happiness. This was the first time Caelum had been this excited in a long time, it actually made him feel a bit weird. Weird in a weird way, to be exact. Despite that feeling he continued on with his rant. "I don't have to be a bounty hunter anymore! What good is that? I would want to spend as much time with you as I possibly could. I think I actually have enough money to rent out a small-What?" Sarah stood there staring at Caelum. Her face was a mixture of disgust and confusion. "Don't come near me you..." Sarah started stepping back in fear. "What's wrong?" Caelum got up and reached out for her. "Eeeeeeeeeeek!" She shrieked in horror and ran for the door. When all of the other customers turned around to see what was happening, they all yelled and followed the girl. "What the fuck did I do? We were like this close to spending the rest of our lives together? I guess I'm not meant to love."

Caelum sat there in confusion for a few more hours. Literally everyone except one crazy looking woman fled in horror. The woman had gotten a little too close to him and kept complimenting him on his astonishing wings and sexy, red compound eyes. Whatever that meant.
