Now a banana man

It wasn't until the enormous fishman actually began to speak did she realize he wasn't tailing behind her. She had been so caught up in the new found excitement of the prospects that sat just ahead of them that she wasn't paying attention. Still, this came as an unexpected surprise for the woman. It seemed that up until this point Kei had always followed her orders and followed closely behind out of nature and instinct. His gentleman like attitude pretty much forced him to help her seeing as she was a woman and was supposedly meant to be treated differently. Still, something was different now. Although he was always pretty serious and genuine in nature since they had met the current situation seemed to have a different atmosphere to it. It was almost as if it were tangible and lingering in the air around them, a notable difference. So that's what it was? He was going to leave her crew just like that? Right when they had hit the jackpot they had been waiting for he planned to just vanish on her? It seemed like since meeting they were just tossed into shitty situation after shitty situation with no sign of hope in the near future. Henrik was left behind and had probably died on that island, they were ambushed and captured, and got a little ass kicking in the middle of the street and in the end it just led to the two going their separate ways. It was inconceivable, or at least in her mind it was. This was the second time in one day that the woman was struck speechless and probably more than Kei had seen out of her in the week or so they had known each other. The first obviously being not too long ago when they departed from the building. A rare site that he was lucky enough to have seen more than once in short time of one another. It didn't take long for her to regain her senses however, just as the fishman began to walk away. So what would she do in this situation now that it seemed her plans had fallen apart once again? Well, she could vent her emotion in a similar fashion as to earlier through pure rage and attack the fishman. Sure, she was in worst condition than him after her fight, but she figured she could take the guy if she kept her distance using her guns and throwing knives. Seemed pretty underhanded considering Kei didn't seem armed and he had his back turned and all, but she was an assassin. Killing people in such a manner was really nothing new and wouldn't leaver her in any form of guilty conscious. The guy may as well have been a deserter and a traitor to the crew. Under normal circumstances that would be a crime punishable by death in itself among most pirate crews and her own wouldn't be an exception regardless of how lacking in members it would now be with his disappearance. So that just left the question of why she decided against acting in such an unfavorable manner. Some say there's no honor among thieves and criminals like pirates such as themselves, but Yuri would say otherwise. In this specific situation however it had less to do with being petty thieves or sinister pirates and more with the two of them both being assassins who had formed an alliance in search of a better future. There was no honor between them, but more of an unspoken and unwritten creed, an Assassin's Creed really. Of similar profession and mind set when it came to their job, but still entirely different, yet they could hold a common understanding of sorts. A tangible bond that was there, but not quite there at the same time. An odd thing really. She put her hands in her pockets and sighed. So it was really ending like this. "Well, I guess that's it then. Later Kei. If we do meet again don't expect a spot to be waiting on you in my crew or anything. If anything you'd better watch your ass, I might not be so merciful, hehaha." She finally responded as the fishman was already a distance away. She couldn't really be sure if they actually would meet again or not and even if they did she wasn't too sure on how she'd treat the fishman either. Only time would tell, but for now she figured those would be good terms to leave off on. Yuri obviously wasn't one for teary eyed and heartfelt departures or anything of the like. It was best of the two left off as possible enemies, it was the way two non allied killers of the night were meant to be. By this point he had already rounded a corner and disappeared from her sight. All that left was where she would take off from here. The information that the two had received from the short yet brutal interrogation was still her valid chance at a big break and making some headway in her goals. It was something that would need to be taken advantage of now though, before the captain was forced to leave by the pirate hunters on the site or he just got tired of waiting on his crew that the two of them had just taken care of. She wouldn't let a great chance like this just slip through her fingers and have some other jackass take advantage of her hesitance. Her crew had been nothing but tragedy after tragedy and failure after failure, but with this she could start anew with new wealth, fame, and power. People like Kei and Henrik would soon be replaced by those better and more suited to the roles required of her and she could possibly lead an entire flock of mooks for her bidding much like other big pirate crews. She began to stumble off in the direction where the man would be located, but a sudden pain shot through the woman's body that caused her to collapse to the floor. It had started from her side and abdomen area and pretty much shook the foundations of her entire body. That damned boxer, even if the number of hits she had taken were actually rather low the power behind them was the problem and what had brought the strong assassin to her knees now. It was sickening to think about it, but she knew there was no way she'd be taking an entire crew in this condition. With Kei on her side there may have been some sort of chance, but the disadvantages just kept stacking atop each other. She was alone, outnumbered, wounded, and fatigued. A horrible start to a plan that would have been pretty damn risky even if these other factors weren't thrown into the mix of it all. "Fuck!" She punched the ground as hard as she could from her kneeled position. It wasn't fair. She stood to her feet and began to exit the town as well, or at least the main streets. Needless to say, her plan had been aborted. Her pride pushed her to just go ahead and fight on anyway in the hopes of everything being alright in the end, but her mind was more rational in this situation. She'd rather swallow her own damn pride for once and admit to defeat than go on a suicide mission. If anything Kei probably feared for his life in such a situation as well and allowed it to be a factor in his decision to leave. She didn't believe it to be the only reason or even the main reason for him to quit. Ever since earlier in the day it seemed that the two of them had drifted apart with the starfish being rather upset by her comment over fishmen. Something she didn't expect a hardened killer to be so sensitive about no matter how nice he was. It was likely one of those consequences of knowing one's crew members well enough or perhaps not thinking before speaking. "Shut your filthy fukken mouth." She said while kicking their previous torture victim in the face. He was in pretty bad shape, worst off then Yuri actually, probably the only reason she opted to kick him rather than outright kill him. His ass would be taken in by the pirate hunters soon enough. Speaking of which, a group of them were coming at that exact moment. She clutched her side with a free hand and moved around the corner and out of their sight. A small group had come by with the intention of chasing her down, even going so far as to head door to door int he area she had last been seen, but apparently no one had seen her since the fight on the street. One man in particular had just closed and locked his front door as the pirate hunters departed and a cool sweat ran down his forehead. "Hehaha. Good job, you may even have a career in acting or some shit in your future, ya know?" The assassin smirked as she moved from behind the front door and pulled the pistol away from its position poised at the man's head. For now she would lay low in this small house until late night when things had blown over a bit. The town was still in panic over the sudden attack on the pirate hunters and going outside in her current state wouldn't end well. Besides, with holding the guy's family hostage for the time being she pretty much held all the bargaining chips. Minutes turned to hours and as night fell and things had settled she mad her departure from the island by sneaking on to vessel and stowing away. She couldn't be sure where she was headed, but figured there was no where else to go but up anyway. SL End |
