Well, there it was right in front of them. Land had finally come into sight for the next island they'd hit up. If anything Yuri would have rather avoided the place and gone on ahead to somewhere less troublesome, but they had no choice in this situation. As the saying went, beggars couldn't really be choosers, and they were no exception in this situation especially after how great things went from their last trip. Even though this was all nothing more than thoughts going through the pirate's mind, the word great was said with enough venom to probably kill a rhino in a heartbeat. That being said, the choice of words was obvious sarcasm. If it hadn't been made apparent by this point, she was still in a rather sour mood over how things turned out. It had been about a week or so since they left behind both Torino Island and her former first mate, Henrik. There was definitely no turning back now, but if he was fit to survive and meet them again then Yuri was pretty sure that freaky moron would chase her to the ends of the earth to prove his love and loyalty and she would always be there, waiting. Not waiting in a good sense either. Waiting to pretty much kick his ass and punish him for being such a nuisance and failing his spot as first mate on the same day it was given to him. Maybe he'd even get another knife in his gut for old time's sake. It would definitely take her mind off of the failure that befell them while on Torino. If there was anything she hated in life it would have to be failure or defeat. Something that they undeniably suffered by the hands of some giant feathered beasts and idiots who swung clubs at each other all day. It was shameful and pretty much a day that she had decided should never be spoken of again. Her pride was much too great to openly admit failing in such a manner and in an effort to keep her rage from boiling over, she had opted not to speak and avoid thinking on such things. In short, these attempts were all failures. Not like there was much to do on the this dinky scrap of wood anyway. They had stolen it from some random guy passing through North Blue and buy this point she was quite sure he was dead. If anything good came out of it however, it would likely be the beli they found on board. About 9 million for herself and 5 million for Kei. (rewards from previous SL) If anything then at least she could think about the new stuff she could buy with the cash. An upgrade from her tiny knives would be great. Her snake like eyes then shifted to the enormous mass of blue flesh behind her. Keikan, or Kei for short. He had pretty much been dubbed as the new first mate of the crew and was doing a damn good job at it so far. Since leaving the two of them had scored a dinky little raft and even a map so simple that one of those neanderthals they escaped from could read it and find Hitsuji Archipelago, their next stop. He was also a deal more competent and less annoying than Henrik. Overall, a pretty nice improvement if she said so herself. It was no surprise seeing as he was an assassin as well. The fact that the two of them shared the same trade or at least used to was probably enough for her to both trust him and respect him as well. Any jackass could go around claiming to be an expert hired killer, but Kei definitely showed the skill to back it up. Another feature she could respect and reason for him being the choice for first mate besides the fact that he was the only crew member. Seeing as Yuri had been a bit too pissed since leaving Torino to bother with talking, now seemed as good a time as ever to get some formalities out of the way. She knew nothing about this guy besides his fishman type and being an assassin. Even during the boat ride with Henrik she had bothered with having some light conversation and getting to know each other before the whole incident with the whirlpools occurred. That was with someone who she despised with every fiber of her being. As such, Kei was much easier to speak to and probably better conversation over all. "So, tell me a bit about yourself." It seemed formalities were not her strong suit as she was blunt and straight to the point with the conversation. Perhaps not all of that rage had subsided just yet? About a week later from their grand adventure on Torino Island found the duo of the sadistic female captain and her giant fishman new first mate floating on a small raft with their next destination right on the horizon. While all-in-all the entire adventure on Torino was a disappointment, Kei was glad that he did not lose anything even if he did not gain anything either. Due to Kei's immense size, the dinky raft not even big enough for the fishman to fully stretch out on it, requiring him to curl around seventy percent of the edge of the raft to fit on the raft comfortably. He would have just sat at one end and give Yuri as much space as she needed, but out of fear of tipping the raft over, Kei had to resort to his current position. Due to his weight, the raft also sat very low in the water, a mere inch separating the duo from the cold water of North Blue. Kei nodded at Yuri's suggestion and poured two glasses of the Osulan wine before handing one the glasses to Yuri and replacing the bottle back into the wooden box. Sipping on the wine, the fishman gathered his thoughts so as to not ramble in front of his captain. "Well, as you already know, I'm a crown-of-thorns type fishman and as you probably seen over the last week or two, I can extend my spikes at will." Kei began, extending a spike from his hand and retracting it back. He didn't know if she knew he was poisonous or not, but decided to leave that part out, just in case. "I was born on Fishman Island probably about twenty years ago. And in case you are wondering, most if not all of my family is/was as big as me. Since our size made us fairly shitty covert assassins, we used our size to our advantages instead, specializing in job where the assassination was intended to send a message. Of course I tried my hardest to practice being covert and over the years have gotten fairly good at it even if I do say so myself, despite my size." Kei chuckled and sipped on his wine. "About two years ago, I left Fishman Island and came to the surface and eventually to the Blues to find adventure and strike out on my own. Perhaps find a crew to call my own and if Gods will have it, maybe find a wife and settle down." Kei finished his story, saying the last part far quieter than the rest. It wouldn't be good if the captain thought he was a pushover. "What about yourself, Miss Yuri?" Kei asked, finishing off the glass and pouring himself another glass. |

With Kei's monstrous size they had been pretty lucky in keeping their tiny new vessel afloat for so long without going under or Yuri going mad with just the close proximity that they were forced to share, especially with her already rather enraged and upset about Torino Island. If it had been Henrik that she was forced to stay so close to for about a week's tike she probably would've kill him and tossed his body into the water days ago, but Kei knew his boundaries and although the gentleman thing was annoying at least it meant he could keep his hands to himself. He had even been polite and considerate enough to adjust his weight in such a way that although it was uncomfortable for him it allowed the two of them to move along in a rather peaceful and safe way. Seeing as he was a fishman she probably could've just asked him to stay out of the ship at times and swim alongside it. In her mind fishmen shouldn't have any problem swimming in the water for long periods of time. They were part aquatic after all and aquatic creatures literally spend their entire life submerged in the depths of the ocean and other bodies of water that were suitable. Just because they had some human genes, personality, and reasoning didn't change that fact much besides the whole free will thing and whatnot. Still, it wasn't necessary and considering the fact that the two of them had worked together in gathering their meals in the past week, the least they could do was find a compromise for the current standard of living. She ran a single hand through the calm water as Kei began to speak. Hr other hand reached out and grabbed the wine glass that had been handed her way. She stirred the glass and looked at the drink for a second. She was never much of a drinker, but hey, if she planned to be empress of the world one day then maybe getting adjusted to drinking this classy crap was a step on the right path. She started with a light sip and seemed to enjoy the taste though avoided just flat out gorging the stuff down her throat. Now that she thought about it actually, Kei had a crate much like the one he took the wine bottle out of when they left from the last island. She never really bothered with asking what it was, though it was unneeded now. Seemed like these sort of drinks were his thing too considering the fact he had held on to it for so long. As she took in the tale of his life the pirate simply continued to sip away at her Osulan wine, bit by bit. By the time he was actually done, she had already finished about half of it, but had her mind on other things. The tale of his life wasn't the most epic or climactic one out there, but it had still caught her attention. She had honestly expected more considering his size and appearance, but it seemed the saying of not being able to judge a book by its cover was true. She did get a small laugh out of the last thing he said however. It wasn't that she was laughing at him or mocking his dreams of having a family of his own in the future. Her laugh had more to do with the mental image in hr head of Kei being a dad and having his little spawn running around all over the place. With the gargantuan size that apparently came with being in the family, she would be surprised if they were six or seven feet tall at the age of eight. With his part done with however, it seemed Yuri was next. As truthful as Kei had been and as much as she know trusted him; Yuri figured avoiding giving him the entirety of her life story would be best. She never liked when things were long and drawn out anyway, especially when it ended up just being a long time waster for something that could've been done in moments. "Life has been an uphill battle for me since I was a child. I was born on Aokuchi Island, here in the North Blue, but after certain events happened I ended up going to Osula. From there I joined a gang, shot some people jumped some people, stole from some people, and other skills I use now as a pirate. Including being taught the ways of stealth and silence as an assassin and how to make poisons. I made plenty of friends back on the old hell hole of an island too." She spoke with an odd pride for the land despite it's infamy for being the most chaotic and lawless location in all of North Blue. |

Kei wasn't even able to finish his second glass of wine before Yuri was finished with her life story. Like her attitude about anything, it was short and to the point, although it kinda felt like she was leaving what must have been more painful memories, out of it. Not that he minded it or anything, for even though he only knew Yuri for a little over a week or so, he still did not feel entirely comfortable prodding the woman for more information, which if he did would probably lead to either death or at the very least, heavy injuries. And even if she did divulge those unpleasant memories, Kei did not think that he could have comforted her much, seeing that he really hadn't ever experienced much hardship in his life, not that he thought Yuri would break down crying in front of him. While the story didn't sound very happy, it seemed like she was proud of her life, time spent on Osula, and Osula itself. Now to that the fishman could definitely relate. Even if he was given a chance to go back and change his life or choose a different place of birth, he would not change a thing. For all the crazy, assassin relatives, Kei loved his family very much, although he never regretted leaving the home he grew up in and exploring the world. Most of all, Kei missed his mom and her brother, his uncle, who probably was the only person besides him ever left the Grand Line. Kei's mother was fairly famous in their family and the surrounding areas for her cherry pie, which was incidentally the last thing he ate before departing from his family home hopefully not forever. Kei was always close to his uncle for the latter would always bring him all kinds of neat toys and later, when Kei got older, all sorts of exotic liquors from all over the Grand Line and the Four Blues. By the time he left the house, Kei could distinguish which island, or at the very least which Blue, the wine came from just by tasting it even once. The wines from the Grand Line were harder to place to a specific route, let alone a specific island, though he knew a Grand Line wine when he tasted one, which really hadn't happened often ever since he left Fishman Island, much to his disappointment. Hopefully, he'll be back to the Grand Line soon enough. "Well, Miss Yuri, what's the plan when we reach the island?" Kei asked withe a smile, finishing the wine and putting the glass back into the box. |

Kei seemed to be unsurprised by the abruptness of her tale in comparison to his own. That was good, his instincts had proven him right in this situation as prying would've gotten him nowhere. The fact that she was still recovering from a previous bad mood wouldn't have helped him either. She looked at her wine glass that was only half full by this point while Kei had already inhaled two of them without her noticing. Damn did this guy like his drinks. She sipped at it again before simply handing it over to the fishman. She felt she had had enough of it anyway. Wine wasn't really her sort of thing even if it was some expensive stuff like this. She never really got to experience these sort of drinks growing up, but having it now she began to wonder what was all the rage about them? Whatever, not that it mattered. They would have to looked on ahead to what their plans would be for the next island. She looked at the map they had stolen along with the boat again just to be sure they were definitely still en route for Hitsuji Archipelago. Unlike Torino, she actually knew a little bit of info on the place and had reason to be wary of it. If the chance were to present itself, she'd soon just turn their little boat around to go somewhere else, but they had no choice. They would need to steal a new boat and likely make some cash one way or another. The piece of junk they had now wouldn't last another day out on the water it seemed, and there was no way she could just ride Kei's back for days at a time. Rolling the map up now and putting it in her back pocket she looked to the fishman with a serious look. "Well, our next stop is going to have to be Hitsuji Archipelago, regardless of how much I'd rather skip around it and not put up with all the trouble it'll likely bring to us. It's a series of islands full of rich and wealthy people from what I hear. I know that sounds good so far, but this place is also pretty well known for capturing pirates and turning them in for their bounty money. This wouldn't be much of an issue if it weren't for the fact that I'm carrying a bounty, meaning shit could hit the fan the moment we step foot on their soil. The fact that pirates are often drawn here due to their wealth and riches doesn't make the whole thing less troublesome either." She sighed out of annoyance and recline a bit in the boat. Well, reclined as much as she could without falling in the water only a few inches below. "That said, my plan is for us to just get in and get out. Seeing as we're both used to that sort of deal, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. We need to steal a ship and make some money, though if we're lucky I'm hoping the ship we pick up will have some valuable on it to sell. If it wasn't obvious this place really wasn't somewhere she wanted to be. Seeing as pirates were often caught on a daily basis here Yuri predicted the place would already be rigged with traps of some sort in case they saw suspicious individuals. If the two of them didn't really fit that description then she didn't know what did. Edited by Hideo, Jun 5 2011, 07:49 PM.

Kei listened carefully to Yuri's explanation of their destination and her plan on what to do once they got there, all the while finishing off the wine that Yuri did not. Seemed like a shame that she did not finish it but she probably preferred something stronger like rum or sake instead. To each his own as the saying went and the fishman polished off the glass, not wanting to waste the hard-earned wine by pouring it over the side. Replacing the glass into the wooden box to join its companion, Kei returned his attention to the matter at hand, specifically to the fact that their destination was known for making money of of capturing pirates. Not that he had to worry about that since he did not have a bounty, but he would probably still be under suspicion if he was seen with Yuri, who apparently had a bounty. Not that he was going to abandon her, if worst came to worst he would give his life to protect her. Now that he thought about it, he wasn't sure if he ever heard about the Hitsuji Archipelago before now, even from his worldly uncle. Kei doubted that there wasn't a special wine that could only be found on Hitsuji Archipelago and now that he knew what the main source of income was on the island, he suspected that his uncle never visited it since there was a good chance that he would be caught. Then again, the fishman did not know if his uncle ever got a bounty, but he wouldn't be surprised if he did given his line of work. Returning his attention to the matter at hand once again, Kei's mind drifted off again when Yuri mentioned stealing a ship. The only ships he's been on were either large merchant or, if his cover was blown, pirate ships, most of them crewed by at least fifty if not more people, so the thought of both of them commandeering a ship like that by themselves put some doubts into his mind. Then again, the ship Yuri had in mind to steal would be of a smaller variety, but probably not too small considering Kei's size. Unless of course she made him swim by the ship or at the very least be dragged alongside it, the thought of either making Kei cringe slightly. "So what manner of a ship did you have in mind to steal, Miss Yuri?" Kei asked as he waited for the raft to near the island. |

What type of ship did she plan on taking? That thought never really crossed the pirate's mind now that she thought about it. Well, it wasn't like they were gonna get much worse from what they already had. This thing may as well have been a floating log or something with how basic and crappy it was. She was almost afraid of making any sort of abrupt movements in fear of snapping the poor thing in half and landing in the cold ass water. It wasn't like it really mattered much either. Just something in a good condition and large enough to house the two of them, that was all she asked for. Though, with Yuri's fortune in the past it seemed like even that would be asking just a bit too much. "No, I haven't thought about it much, but I don't think we're in much of a position to be picky about things. Anything large and in good condition will be fine." By this point they had drawn rather close to touching one of the first islands in the series without even realizing. Still, it seemed as though they had hit the jack pot in this situation. Sitting right there at the dock was a large and rather fancy looking ship, obviously belonging to someone wealthy and in power. It was a bit too flashy for Yuri's taste's, but that didn't matter. Stuff like that was easily removable once they got the hell away from the island and were en route for another destination. She motioned for Kei to look in that direction as well and gave a coy smile. She was sure that by this point he'd already know she had intentions of making that their ship.It was simply too good to pass up, especially when there was no one around to see them or try to capture them. However, the fact that it was too easy was just what made the whole thing a bit suspicious. She had just told Kei moments ago about the traps that were often set for pirates around these islands and if she didn't know any better she would say that this one of them. Normally they could have just passed it up and moved on to something else, but that option only led to even greater risks. Floating around on this dinky piece of crap would make them easy sitting ducks from the shoreline. Stepping on to shore was likely the best option, but that one had its risk as well, those risks being even more traps and ambushes from the people of the island trying to make a quick buck off of her bounty. Out of the three choices, it seemed like the boat was the best, and as such she followed her instinct and went with it. Seeing as they were on the outside of the islands and not lost in the mess that were the inner parts, escape would be rather simple if someone were to see them. "Alright Kei, we're going for that boat right there. Keep on your toes though. I don't trust it, but it's probably our safest option at the moment. Anyway, you get out here and enter from the water and I'll go by land to look out for traps and get on it myself. This way we can watch each others backs and if something does happen we wont both be hit because we were clumped together like a couple of idiots." |

Kei was kind of surprised that by the time they were done talking, they had already reached the first island of the archipelago. Looking where Yuri was pointing with a coy smile, the fishman finally noticed the big and fancy looking ship docked further down the beach. He was sure that Yuri had set her mind on stealing the ship, but he himself was a little reserved about it. Sure it was grand and probably has enough expensive materials put into to make it worth several hundred million beli, but if that was true then the ship would probably be guarded very well, unless of course it was a trap to lure pirates like Yuri said the locals would do. But in the end, Yuri was now his captain and her orders were to be followed under a threat of death. With a nod to the captain, Kei slipped carefully off the raft and into the water, pulling the box with him and heading towards the ship. It didn't take long for the fishman to reach the ship, swimming calmly to surely thought the shallows just of the beach. Up close the ship looked even larger and more extravagant than from afar, putting another sliver of doubt about his captain's decision to steal this ship. He could certainly understand why Yuri just wanted to steal the first ship they saw, which just happened to be this one, but he certainly did not have to like it. For such a big ship, it sat fairly high above sea level, about twenty feet or so, higher than Kei had expected and hoped. He certainly wouldn't be jumping out of the water onto the deck. Although perhaps he could still utilize the jumping to his advantage. After looking over the ship for a few minutes, the fishman noticed a long hanging rigging over the side of the ship, just low enough for him to grasp during the jump. Making up his mind, Kei swam as low to the bottom as he could before suddenly taking off, sailing quickly towards the surface of the water. Breaking the surface, the fishman sailed through the air just high enough to grasp at the rigging with one hand. Thankful that it didn't give out under his weight, the fishman quickly scrambled onto the deck. Once on deck and at his full height, Kei found that the deck was very lacking in life, as in there was not a single living thing that he could see. Walking over to the other side of the deck which faced the beach, Kei waited patiently for Yuri to appear. |

Yuri lifted her arms to avoid being splashed in the face by the light bit of water from Kei jumping into the ocean. Even though he had attempted to be smooth and stealthy he could help his size, nor could he help the sudden shift in weight on the boat after his departure. If she hadn't been prepared for it the pirate might have ended up falling in as well. Still, it was pretty impressive to see him go. Fishmen truly were in the natural element underwater, huh. It seemed like only a moment had gone and Kei had practically disappeared from view under the dark blue surface. That was the fastest she had ever seen him move and even if he was a fishman she didn't expect him to be that great of a swimmer underwater. Regardless, it was time for her to complete her part of the plan and be sure nothing else was going down on shore. She had to be sure that no one else was around. If even a single person managed to catch sight of them getting on the ship and told other people on the island of what was going on then this would go south pretty damn fast. The boat didn't come with any sort of oar so it seemed that Yuri would be paddling by hand until she reached shore. That wasn't much of a problem in itself though. If anything she would've said it was better since it was much quieter than her having to position an oar to and fro to reach land. Her strokes were gentle, but forceful enough to get the small craft moving. It seemed Henrik would have to wait on her a littler longer than originally expected. Once touching land, she stepped onto the sandy shore and kicked their little craft away and out to sea. They wouldn't need it any more. Even if something happened that piece of crap wouldn't be much use, in fact it would probably be a hindrance. Still, she was surprised at the lack of well, anything. There weren't any traps as far as she could see, nor were there people. It seemed too simple and too fortunate. Quietly moving along the water's edge, she approached their new boat without so much as a hitch in their plan. It wasn't until a light rustling was heard from the bushes did she stop dead in her tracks. Someone or something was out there and she would be damned if she didn't find them. It seemed whatever it was had stopped already, likely catching on to her gaze now focused on that spot. Still, it was too late to regret past mistakes as the assassin launched a single knife at the spot. She had expected a groan of pain or something of that manner, but there was nothing. Approaching the spot where she had launched her blade she pulled it out of the chest of a small squirrel that was now impaled to the tree behind it. "I fucking hate false alarms.." Was all she murmured before moving on to the ship. The possibility of it just being a squirrel or other wild animal had crossed the assassin's mind, but they were taking enough risks as it was with stealing a ship that she already felt was an easy trap. Stepping on to the ship with Kei she could be seen cleaning her knife and putting it away. Kei was soaked and dripping all over the place, but other than that everything seemed well. She was a bit suspicious of the fact that the ship was just as quiet as the shore line though. "I didn't find anything. How about y-" She was cut off by the sound of a couple of people opening the door that led to the lower parts of the ship and emerging with several bags. From their appearance Yuri suspected them to be pirates as well and it seemed they had come with similar intentions to the two of them. Judging by the looks on their faces they were just as surprised as Yuri was to see them. Well, considering she had Kei on her side they were likely a bit more frightened. It wasn't everyday you just randomly walked into a thirteen foot tall blue spiky monster. |

Kei watched Yuri as she walked up the walkway onto the deck, cleaning her knife before putting it away. While he doubted that she had set off any traps due to lack of injuries on her person, she must have encountered something or someone that either startled her and she quickly retaliated or she sneaked up on them and killed them before they could retaliate, both theories kind of explaining why her knife was bloody yet there was not a single scratch on her. If she did encounter someone and killed them, perhaps he should be more on guard just in case the person Yuri killed had friends and wanted to retaliate. Well, he could always ask her about it soon. Before he could ask her about it or reply to her abruptly ended question, the fishman turned around, a surprised expression crossing his face when he noticed a door open and several people came out of it, all carrying bulging burlap sacks, with their own looks of surprise, probably from seeing Kei, plastered on their faces. The presence of the pirates, which is surely what they must be, would explain the absence on anyone, mostly guards, on board since the pirates would probably have killed or incapacitated the guards before they began looting. Well, this made his and Yuri's job much easier since the pirates would most likely not want to fight someone his size and would just run away, hopefully leaving the bags behind, letting the duo sail away unmolested. And if they didn't want to give up the bags, well, he was sure he could convince them to either part with them or their limbs. "Hello gentlemen." Kei greeted the pirates, dropping into a bow, his head still eight feet off the ground and the only spikes seen where the ones that made up his mohawk. Hopefully they would cooperate so that the duo could sail off in a non-bloody ship. |

As the two opposing sides met, there seemed to be a standoff of sorts as no one said anything for a few moments. This was likely due to just the sheer surprise of running into other who had come on to the vessel with the same or similar intentions. Yuri chose not to waste this time however and was already plotting some sort of way to get around this. She eyes both of the pirates suspiciously, finding their appearance to be somewhat familiar, but she couldn't be sure of why. There was nothing particularly noteworthy about their appearance or the weapons they carried, nor did Yuri think she had ever met either of them in the past. Well, it wasn't like the reason mattered, they had met as enemies on this ship and they would be ending the short relationship as such. She suspected the reasoning for the ship being empty or being here in the first place could've been due to these two men, but the horn haired assassin couldn't exactly be sure. There seemed to be no signs of a struggles or anything like that, but who knew. She was only snapped free from her deep thought by the sounds of Kei greeting him. A light smile spread across her lips at his choice of words and tone of voice. It was pretty amusing how this guy never really gentleman like demeanor even when facing threats such as them. In fact, back when they were trapped on the bird island he seemed to be the same. An odd polar opposite for Yuri's violent and rude ways. "Alright then, seeing as my friend here already greeted you dipshits the formalities are out of the way. Now, I'll make this rather short and simple. Drop the bags and leave the ship now and we can all leave happy. We'll leave happily with this ship and its valuable while you guys are happy I don't gut you and leave you out to dry on those trees over there. It's a win win situation. Now get moving before my subordinate gets fed up and decides to make you a meal. Hes been eating nothing but fish and seagulls for the past week and the taste of flesh would probably be heavenly right about now." She was referring to Kei in the last line. The idea was a rather simple fear factor using Kei's frightening appearance as an emphasis. A simple observation of the two men was enough to let Yuri know they had won. The two men had already dropped to their knees and were practically begging for mercy. The sound of men groveling at her feet and praying to live to see another idea was practically music to her ears. Some pirates they turned out to be, they were probably just some idiots who got lucky and wanted to make a quick buck. Hell, they were even crying. "Hey, cut that shit out! You're ruining my new ship with your pitiful tears." She went and grabbed their weapons, both of them only carried a couple of pistols. Without a second thought she tossed them into the water while handing Kei the bag of valuables. It seemed to be rather heavy, but full of rare goods. "Kei, mind holding that while I go look around below deck. Gotta make sure there aren't any more nuisances on board. And watch those two as well. Don't want them doing anything stupid. When I come back we'll be pulling out and heading to our next destination." With that said, her footsteps could be heard going down stairs and into the lower areas of their new vessel. Things seemed to be going well, but Yuri just couldn't help the feeling that this was just too easy. Even if it wasn't a trap they had to at least be sure the pirates they captured didn't have allies waiting on the ship. The last thing they would need was to pull out from Hitsuji only to start a fight on their own vessel and end up sinking it or something stupid like that. Edited by Hideo, Jun 12 2011, 01:43 PM.

The fishman watched with amusement as Yuri addressed the two men, who by the end of her speech were reduced to crying, blabbering wrecks, grovelling for forgiveness on their knees. Playing along with her, Kei licked his chops with a smile on his face, the movement eliciting another round of crying. Through it all, Yuri seemed to have been enjoying the entire affair as she relieved the duo from their guns as well as the bag of valuable goodies and threw the guns overboard while handing the bag to Kei and told him to watch the duo while she went down below to check for any more pirates that might be accompanying the duo in front of him. With the smile, Kei sat down on the deck, placing the bag beside him and motioning the two pirates to sit down in front of him. Very reluctantly and with fear in their eyes, the duo sat down, wanting to escape but not daring to incur the wrath of the fishman. "So gentlemen, why did you decide to rob this particular ship?" Kei asked, bringing the wooden wine box to the front and taking the bottle, which by now was half fool, out and offering it to the two pirates, intending to give them the glasses while he drank from the bottle himself. Looking at the bottle with look that combined both fear and suspicion, the duo politely declined the offer, not wanting to find out if the liquid in the bottle was blood or truly wine. Shrugging, Kei took out a glass and poured himself some wine before returning the bottle to the box. "Well?" Kei prompted the duo after not receiving an answer for several moments. "Well Mr. Fishman, me and my friend over here just saw this here ship all by her lonesome self and decided to keep her company." the older man replied with a slight smirk which quickly disappeared. "Hmm, so what's with you relieving the ship of it's valuables?" Kei asked feigning ignorance at the workings of the pirate world while sipping on the wine. "Well, that was just compensation for our services." the same older pirate smirked, the smirk staying longer this time as if he wasn't afraid of the hulking fishman anymore. "Hmm, that sounds reasonable, though all this talking is making me somewhat hungry." Kei continued, once again licking his chops causing the two pirates to blanch once again, even the older one. Glad that he once again put the pirates back in line for Yuri, Kei finished off the wine, returning the glass to the box and began drumming his fingers on the deck, watching the pirates and waiting for Yuri to return. |

"What the hell is that?" One of the captured men spoke up as something could b seen arcing in the direction of the ship. It landed right in front of the trio on deck and exploded into a thick blanket of black smoke. Yuri was just beginning to wrap up her examination of the ship's lower quarters when the sound reached her ears. Things just never seemed to go in the favor of the unnamed pirate crew did they. She cursed silently to herself and began heading back to the stairs. Fortunately, there wasn't anyone else on board the ship for them to have to deal with, but by the sounds of things above it seemed like the other jackasses they had caught were causing a commotion of their own. Her eyes traced down to the shiny black piece of new equipment at her waist, but she decided against it and prepared her throwing knives instead. The Black Rose wasn't something required to dispose of garbage. She kicked the door open and could feel a rush of hot air and the black smoke filling the air and now the lower quarters of the ship. She couldn't be sure if the stuff was poisonous, just a means of distraction, or was a cover for something else, but it was better to be safe rather than pay for it in the end. Unfortunately, the pirate didn't carry a gas mask, so her best option was to simply pull up the front of her shirt in makeshift mask and pray for the best. "Kei! Kei! Kei, what the fuck did you do?!" She screamed out to her first mate, not out of fear or compassion but in a pissed fury that was more common for her. The thickness of the smog clouding the air however was too thick for her to go on shouting like that and there was still the question of where the heat was coming from. The assassin edged her way along the deck and reach the railing but immediately hopped away. The ship had been entirely surrounded in a fiery blaze, it seemed like there would be no way off the thing without suffering in some way, but it wasn't like staying up top was a much better option. She could feel a sudden gust of wind rush past her, but disregarded upon noting that it was just the pathetic thieves they had caught before, likely trying to make an escape. This attempt was cut short however when they were both captured in a net. Well, at least they had served a small purpose. That last display let the assassin know that one: this had been a trap as she expected right from the start and two: the enemy was just outside of their, range likely in those tree she had barely inspected upon first touching shore. "Damn it! Kei, head for the door! We're going below deck and getting the hell out of here." They would be sitting ducks up on deck and already had their oxygen and vision being cut off. To put it simply, it was the least advantageous position at the moment. She moved back to the door and hopped in as quickly as possible, waiting for the much larger fishman to follow. Once they were both inside she would shut the door and begin planning from there. |

Just waiting for Yuri to return and just sitting there under the warm sun, watching the pirate duo, put Kei in a sleepy mood. Compound it with the fact that he really did not get a decent night's sleep ever since he left Osula, Kei drifted in and out of sleep, his head bobbing up and down as he tried to stay awake. Even though the fishman seemed like he was fighting a losing battle against sleep, the two pirates didn't dare to try to sneak away, afraid that if they moved, the hungry fishman would surely wake up and and either maim them or worse, eat them alive. The duo shivered at the thought. As the two pirates contemplated their future, Kei finally lost the battle and drifted off to sleep. Although he was trained to sleep lightly just so that no one would be able to sneak up on him, the combined effect of the sun and weariness of the past two weeks were quickly turning the light sleep that Kei was used to into the deep slumber that he so deeply needed. But alas, Kei would not have his desired rest, at least not yet. As Kei was drifting off to the promise land, the pirate's cry wormed itself into Kei's dream center, halting the falling into the deeper sleep process, and forcefully dragging Kei from his dreams and back towards reality. With a final push, the fishman awoke just as a strange object landed between himself and the pirate duo and immediately exploded, releasing a black gas that began to quickly fill up the air around them. Not really caring about his two charges anymore, Kei suddenly stood up, trying to see over the smoke. However, by this time, the smoke had already expanded well over his head, completely blocking his view. "I didn't do anything, Miss Yuri, I swear!" Kei replied when he heard Yuri's voice, which appeared to be somewhere near the railing, through the smoke and immediately coughed, the black gas finding it's way to Kei's lungs. Bending down to grad the wooden box and the sack of goodies, the fishman quickly made his way towards the railing. The sight of the fire surrounding the ship took Kei's breath away as he realized that their only escape route was completely blocked. As he studied the fire to try to figure a way out of this mess, Kei once again heard Yuri's voice through the smoke, this time sounding closer to where she entered the bowels of the ship. Nodding absentmindedly even though Yuri would not be able to see it, Kei made his way quickly towards the voice, wanting to quickly get away from the blinding and suffocating smoke. Nearing the door, Kei completely forgot about the fact that the door was not his side and plowed right through opening, his lower body continuing forward while his upper body slammed into top of the door, bending him over backwards as he stumbled onto the floor hitting his head on the wood, thankfully already through the door. "What's the plan, Miss Yuri?" Kei asked, rubbing his head and looking expectantly at Yuri. |

With Kei slamming head first into the door due to his height, the pirate felt the urge to laugh or at least make a sarcastic remark of some sort at his misfortune, but ultimately decided against it. This really wasn't the time or situation to be laughing. Once he was inside, she slammed the door shut and sat down for a moment. The prospect of the ship being a trap wasn't a surprise, but she hadn't expected them to go this far to capture them. She had hoped to rely on Kei's quick swimming ability as a fishman to bail them out, but with those raging flames outside that would be pretty damn difficult. Or at least it would be if they used the surface. That thought was more than enough to set off the light bulb in the assassin's mind as she hopped up and moved deeper into the ship, signalling for Kei to follow after her. "We can't sit around in here forever. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind waiting for this ship to burn us out anyway. So we're going to sneak out using the cover they so generously provided us." She smiled and moved until they had pretty much rock bottom of the ship, also known as the bilge. It was pretty damp and the odor was so pungent that she was nearly tempted to just head back up top and take her chances with the smoke cloud, but today it would be their escape route. "Alright, they likely used oil or some other material that sits on the surface of water in order for the flames to burn and trap us, but if we can make it out underneath their little ring of fire we should be fine, right?" She picked up an iron pipe that was lying around and began to bash into the wood. "Once we make a decent enough opening to get out I need you to grab me and start swimming away from the island as fast as possible. We need to get out of here so we won't be on the defensive and can plan without too much pressure." That said, she began to pound away at the wooden interior of the vessel. Honestly, it wasn't her best idea, but it was the most viable at the moment. Still, it sounded like something was going on up top. Wait, that was too far, wherever the noise was coming from it seemed to be just above them actually. The sounds of feet shuffling...multiple pairs of feet. It seemed someone else had gotten on the ship, likely their attackers. "Damnit, hurry u-" It was too late. Much like the men they had captured before, Yuri was hit with a net launched in her direction and fell to the floor as it coiled and wrapped its way around her. It seemed like attempting to break out based on strength alone would be a fruitless effort as well, the net was made of iron and there was no way she could reach her weapons. She hit the floor with a loud thud and a splash against the damp wooden floor, but a light growl could be heard coming from the pirate as well. As much as she attempted to hide her anger it seemed to be no use. It was pretty obvious that she was pissed beyond all belief. Rolling over and adjusting her position, she managed to see their attackers. Four men in total, all of them wearing gas masks, but otherwise seemed to be dressed in rather casual clothing. Two carried the net guns while the other two had pistols. Their focused now seemed to be on the lone pirate; Kei in this case. |
