Drake's stats for this thread Drake. A Bounty Hunter, Navigator, Doctor, Fourteen-year-old kid. The kind of person that made you think “what the hell have I been doing with my life?”. Although Drake himself wouldn't take pride in it, just accept it as what he was. Hard to believe he was a fourteen-year-old, and it wasn't just due to his mental maturity. Drake was a big boy, standing in at over six foot and weighing over two-hundred twenty pounds, and he often stood over those around him, even full grown adults. Really the only way you could tell Drake was still a child was by his face, which still held the softness of his young age, although his eyes detracted from that look with their...indifference. Anyway, Drake was within a clearing in a forest on an island. This forest (which was an Evergreen forest and contained many Pines and the occasional Live Oak) was at the base of a cliff that reached hundreds of feet in the air, high above the nearby city at the shore. The forest clearing lay right up against the cliff, a circular four-hundred-foot patch of brown dirt among all the green trees, and was a perfect place to wait for what was to happen. Drake had traveled to this island just to study a certain plant which he believed could be made into a potent medicine, but had learned that his timing in coming to the island was perfect to be able to catch the annual blooming of a certain plant deep in the forest. It was supposed to be beautiful. Drake leapt at the idea. A reason to get far away from other people and to view a natural beauty was right up Drake's alley. So he had told the inn he was staying at that he'd be gone that night, not to rent his room out, and then headed for the forest with nothing but his clothes, his medical bag, and his Nodachi. He made his way through the forest quickly, moving along carelessly as the people in town said there weren't any animals in the forest beyond birds. By nightfall he had found the clearing, and decided it would be the best place to wait. Drake lay in the center of the clearing, his black hoodie used as a pillow under his head. The Nodachi was in its sheath laying next to him as well as his medical bag. His hair and shirt were still damp from that bath he had taken in a river he had passed earlier, and he smelled of dirt and tree bark more than anything else at the moment. Despite his positioning and the fact no apparent threat was around, Drake wasn't completely relaxed. He had a sneaking suspicion he was being followed, and was waiting for whatever it was to make its move. When he heard a small noise in the forest nearby, Drake was on his feet, his Nodachi sheath in his hand. He scanned the treeline, trying to spot who or what was approaching... Xocoyatl had been watching him for a little while. The long branches of the pine trees, and the absence of leaves, made the wild girl almost completely silent as she scurried along the bark. It had been easy to follow the man below compared to the environment Xocoyatl was used to. No doubt he assumed because there were no natural predators in these woods he was safe. Sadly it was his kind that could be the most dangerous. He made his way out to a clearing quickly where she could not fallow. Hovering at the edge of the tree line and trying to move the branches delicately out of her way so she could see Xocoyatl seemed wrapped up in her watching. The man looked young, but he had the build of a much older person. There was a sense of untapped power in him. One day his face would look as formidable as his physic. He carried a pack and a sword which was so very similar to the one she carried. Xoocyatl wondered if it was a relic that he had found like her sword, or was it something bestowed upon him by a master. She had been trained by such a man, but alas he had no sword to give her when he died. But she had found her own eventually. He seemed at ease with the world around him. Well suited to the natural setting, Xocoyatl could help but remember the same quality in her master; and one she tried to emultate. The task had been made easy by her wild upbringing in the jungle of her homeland after her village had been burned to the ground. Like a storybook to her past Xocoyatl wore only a leather brazier and loincloth over her dark bronze skin. Rawhide boots climbed her shins to the knee too. She found herself smiling. Climbing down Xocoyatl realized that she had already made up her mind to talk to him. Walking out into the sunlight basking the clearing Xocoyatl smiled with her left hand on saa of the sheath nearly left hip her thumb pressing against the underside of the weapon’s tsuba. She kept her right hand open and above her shoulder while Xocoyatl called out to him in greeting. “Xah, Chitomala. My name is Xocoyatl and I was wondering if you would care to duel with me?” |

When the woman made her presence known, Drake was more than a little bit surprised. Of all the things one expects to stalk them through a forest, a beautiful woman normally isn't what first comes to mind. His eyes flicked to her clothing, the hormones of puberty beginning to cause his mind to turn to thoughts of sex. They were promptly squashed in less than a moment though. Drake didn't like people, to him they simply caused complications, and so he was always on the lookout to intercept and counter the nature of those around him. Being approached by an armed woman, no matter her appearance, simply screamed a trap to Drake. He was also suspicious of there being more people around, lying in wait to attack him in tandem with this woman, but he couldn't get a sense of anybody else, and so had to plan his moves as if they were alone for now. His right-handed grip on his Nodachi sheath didn't waver at all. With Drake's mind calm once again he examined the woman in the fading sunlight of the evening, using his knowledge as a doctor. Her face showed a softness, from the lips stained a natural red to the skin tanned a smooth brown to the blue-green eyes. But the rest of her body spoke of much difference to that softness. Her face was framed by tangled and knotted black hair that spilled everywhere, showing she either didn't take care of herself, or that she didn't come in contact with people that often. Her muscles were also toned and firm, she was obviously strong, although if Drake had to make an estimate, she was slightly weaker than he was himself, but Drake realized her form wasn't based on strength. Her powerful leg muscles combined with her sleek form hinted that her specialty was speed not power. I seem to be the target of my fraternal twin, if only I wasn't an only child. Drake listened as the woman spoke, his right hand gripping his Nodachi sheath while his left slowly placed itself upon the hilt, ready to draw if she moved forward to attack for he saw her hand upon her blade. Her first words he assumed were a different language, possibly a greeting, and concentrated on her words he could understand. He responded, his normally silent demeanor tossed aside for the moment, “Please call me Drake. As for your challenge, I would respectfully decline. I am a healer, I am not skilled in the way of fighting, and I came here in peace to learn more of a plant here that may be used as a medicine.” Drake doubted that would be enough to have the woman back off, but he really didn't want to fight with blades with her. A fight with blades was normally...final. He didn't want his life to end nor to have to end hers. So he spoke again, “If you are still inclined to fight me, then would you accept a barehanded spar? I don't wish to fight with something as dangerous as a sword.” Drake would keep his hands on his blade despite his words. He may not want to fight, but he certainly wasn't fool enough to drop his blade unless his opponent had already done so. So he waited on her response, his eyes flicking to the forest-line from time to time, searching for more enemies. |

Xocoyatl nodded, understanding his sentiments; in part at least. Xocoyatl had spared with several people before using deadly weapons and both participants had survived. They had been wounded significantly but they survived. Of course there was no way for him to know that, and the possibility did not exclude the chance that it was his reasons where derived from deep inside himself. Some men loved bloodshed, loved to kill, and it only made sense that there would be such men who loathed their own nature. Whether this man was one such as that or not, Xoocyatl could not say; but she could feel his fighting spirit and it was strong. She slipped her sword free of her sash-like belt and slowly, carefully laid it in the grass with her left hand. Open hand was how she first learned martial arts and it seemed only fitting to be free of the steel. The weapon was an addition of this modern world, and though she had learned expertly with its use, it still felt alien to her. Perhaps it was for the best she used what she was more comfortable with. “Very well, I am ready whenever you are.” After her words Xocoyatl took a very elegant form. Her right shoulder turned forward with her arm stuck out parallel with the ground and bent at the elbow upwards ninety degrees. Her hand was bent at the wrist so her hand speared outwards also parallel to the ground, palm to the sky and the back of her hand towards the ground. Xocoyatl’s left hand was tucked in tightly to her left breast with her fingers also spearing towards her opponent but the hand flipped so the palm was towards the ground. Half turning away from her opponent she keeps her balance even between her two feet kept shoulder-width apart and bent slightly at the knees. |

Drake was surprised as Xocoyatl placed her blade on the ground, although pleasantly so. In return he slowly placed his own Nodachi on the ground carefully, respectfully. A blade, while a weapon, was worthy of respect. Some people spent their entire lives perfecting the craft of making blades, it'd be rude to disrespect the culmination of that lifetime. Drake gave his opponent a bow of respect, although he didn't lower his head. There was a meaning to it, it was “I respect you as an opponent enough to bow to you, but you are too much a threat to be complacent with”. A picture was worth thousands indeed. As soon as his bow was complete Drake began to move forward at a fast stride, his long legs eating the distance as fast as most people ran in a dead sprint. There was still a length of a few seconds between him beginning his movements and reaching Xocoyatl, and in that time Drake examined her curious stance. While he had no formal training in any martial arts Drake had a instinctual knowledge of how the body moved, and he saw the usefulness of such a stance. The forward arm, raised high with the palm towards the sky, was in a perfect position to intercept both inside and outside upper body strikes, able to slap away inside attacks while an outside attack would be locked down by that arm snaking around it, leaving the opponent at her mercy. Her backward arm lay in wait, ready to intercept an inside strike that may have somehow gotten past her other arm, or in the case of being able to lock down her opponent to deliver a clean strike. Her positioning also hinted at the fact that her weight was evenly distributed to both legs, meaning she could easily shift it forward to strike out as Drake approached or she could shift it back to make his attack go wide and then counter with a strike or a grapple. Drake had the sneaking suspicion he didn't want to go to the ground with this woman, her stance spoke of her being just as proficient there as on her feet. Drake had to marvel just a bit at her stance; it effectively shredded his list of available tactics, and he decided to just go with using his larger size here. As he cleared the last of the distance, just outside of her range even if she leaned forward to strike with a kick, he suddenly stopped, putting his weight on his left leg while his right slid out, swerving to his left then around to the right, attempting to catch Xoco's forward leg from the outside, either making her lose her stance or force her to shift her weight backwards. His foot stopped just three inches after her foot, and shifting some of his weight to his right foot he propelled himself in a circular motion along Xoco's outside with his left leg just in the air. In such a position he'd throw a quick left hand jab towards her head as his left foot landed on the ground and he propelled himself backwards and away from her. The jab if it connected wouldn't be his strongest by far, but it should connect easily since his initial foot sweep was just to get her to shift her weight to her back leg and prevent her from evading the second blow. The backwards motion would put him outside of her range, his left arm raised up and forward while his right was held closer to his chest, his left leg would be a bit forward of his right, both legs slightly bent as Xoco's were before. |

Xocoyatl reacted with speed and precision. Her opponent’s sweeping maneuver was intended to push the vixen back onto her heels, figuratively speaking, so that it would be difficult for her to launch an assault. Since most martial arts battles are decided by who is able to gain the offensive initiative his leg sweep is a sound maneuver. However, the man made a huge miscalculation. As Xocoyatl’s master would have said, “push, push, and push until you push your opponent over.” By sweeping low, jabbing, and then retreating the man sacrifices the intuitive in favor of probing her defenses. As much as one learns about their opponent is useless if they do use that knowledge to defeat their enemy. The Way of Strategy demands that every action should be in the pursuit of defeating the enemy. A jab will not defeat Xocoyatl, nor will a leg sweep; both are merely helpful tools. Xocoyatl does not make that mistake as she unleashes her offensive counter, attempting to capture the initiative. She does as he predicts, again using the Way of Strategy. Xocoyatl allows only her opponent’s useless action and negates only his useful action. Leaning her weight back as soon as she sees her opponent’s sweep begin, Xocoyatl lifts her forward, right, leg up with her knee bent so that it is bent at the knee ninety degrees with the foot towards the ground. Her opponent’s attack sweeps beneath the destabilized anchor, but it is useless. Immediately after the led passes under Xocoyatl strikes out furiously with her right leg. She drives her foot towards her opponent’s right shin, aiming to strike the immediately after his right foot touches ground again. Should he attempt to avoid the low stomp-kick on the side of his leg the man will probably lose his balance, unable to gain the footing he had intended. If struck his knee should buckle, throwing him off balance anyway. By kicking out three inches to her right Xocoyatl opens her front up slightly. Her opponent attempts to swing his weight around his planted right foot. As he does so, and as Xocoyatl attacks his leg, she swings her right arm out slightly at the shoulder, still in the same position. Using her vertical forearm like a shield she should deflect her opponent’s jab-attack as their arms cross. At the same exact time as her right arm moves Xocoyatl’s left hand strikes out, aiming for her opponent’s neck. Opening her body up helps begin the strike with her left hand by moving her shoulders in a very slightly clockwise motion which is then exaggerated by her punching motion. At the same time as her opponent strikes out with his jab Xocoyatl should kick out his one planted leg, just before his left foot returns to the ground, and spear her fingers straight into her opponent’s neck at the same time as his jab attempt is blocked by her right arm. His only possible means of defending himself is his right hand, assuming he is able to focus as his leg buckles. Should he deflect her left hand he will be open to attack again with even greater probability of success. Since Xocoyatl attacks before his left foot is able to regain footing there will be no chance of him being able to retreat out of her reach in time. |

She really is fast. Drake's leg swept ineffectually under hers, completely missing altogether. Of course, that changed his actions that immediately followed the initial sweep. There had been a reason Drake had stopped himself so far away from Xocoyatl, and there was also a reason he had performed a sweep of the legs from such a distance. Gave himself some leeway in case she was prepared. While he had been planning to put some of his weight on his right foot and pivot about the woman, her complete evasion of his sweep changed that, because she had been in control of her movement rather than him and that meant continuing his maneuver would get him a bruise or five. So instead of stopping his sweep just past her foot and planting some weight on his right foot he continued the sweep, bringing his leg back towards his own body. Thanks to his long-distance tactic and his large size, his leg went out of the woman's range (well, she could try and complete her kick to his shin, but she would seriously over-extend her reach and break her stance besides, or worse, have to take a step forward to complete it.). With Drake out of initial striking distance he took a quick step back, careful his opponent wasn't going to immediately follow him. He had more speed than her, if only by a little, and he could outdistance her if he tried. He wanted her to come to him, not the other way around, and so he began slowly circling her until she came at him. Both his hands were up in front of his, the palms facing forward near the center of his chest. It wasn't any kind of stance except something that had helped him keep bullies away. His legs slowly slid across the ground as he moved, keeping his weight directly under him so he can move quickly. |

It is dangerous to be predictable. However she did not have a choice if she is to defeat this enemy. While he brings his leg back, continuing the motion of his leg sweep, Xocoyatl’s left knee bends slightly. When his right leg comes down Xocoyoatl launches herself at her opponent from one leg. She keeps her right leg in front her, bent at ninety degrees from the knee with the foot straight down. The raised appendage acts like a battering ram while her arms maintain the same figure as before, no longer needing to block a jab to the right side of her head. She keeps her attention upon the opponent, waiting to see how he reacts to the explosion of violence. The abandoned sweep leaves her free to attack again herself without fear. The rush forward is aimed so that Xocoyatl will land on her left foot first, and then the right will come down in a way that her knee should smash into her opponent’s man-parts as her right foot comes down hard right in the middle of his stance. Because of the position of her body this also means her forward aimed fingers on her right hand will jab right into her opponent’s face. Because of the power of her stance this will be quite painful to a sensitive area. She fully expects him to counter, with his arms raised defensively, however she knows he cannot retreat further like he had planned. While he regains balance from the hasty sweep-altered motion the man cannot retreat further until that motion is complete. Xocoyatl should land just as that motion completes, only needing to jump forward a few inches. Edited by Yuni Kataki, May 15 2011, 05:19 PM.

Drake's mind was racing; he had never needed to think through his actions so rapidly. It was as if the woman was fighting purely by instinct, and she was so fluid in her movement Drake felt he was beginning to fall behind. As of that moment he could think of only three basic actions which he could do, based upon various factors. The first was to plant his right foot, placing weight on it and not retreat any further, making the woman close in on him. The first and biggest downside to this course of action would be that Xoco would complete her crotch strike, and while her strike wouldn't be as devastating as she thought on account of her shorter size meaning her knee would need to be raised in order to hit him in the crotch, having a knee that close to the genitalia wasn't a comfortable thought. The biggest advantage of such a move would be that Xoco's right arm could be easily grabbed and locked down by Drake's left arm, and then his right, being in a similarly good position at the time, could grab her neck, and with his strength he could close off the carotid arteries in her neck, putting her to sleep and taking her to the ground assuming he could withstand her left-armed strikes and kicks until her struggling ceased. The second option for Drake was to yet again continue his twirling motion, taking his right leg to sweep to behind and left of him, turning his entire body with it to put himself once again on the woman's outside. First thing it would do for Drake is remove the immediate threat to his genitalia, which was a plus no matter how you looked at it. It would also have him in an excellent position to counter Xoco definitely, since her little hop forward meant a lot of things. Her hop forward was a gambit, while it put her in a position to do fight-ending damage, it also left her open. The main weakness of it was the fact that she put herself in the air, which meant her ability to maneuver was utterly crippled compared to on-ground. In such a position Drake's sidestep meant he'd be easily able to push against her, and with nothing to brace against she'd be knocked to the ground with ease, and his hands were in a good position for such. The thing was her right-arm strike. That'd be a blow to the head, and those were potentially fight-ending as well. The third option Drake wasn't really considering, as it was essentially giving up. That is to say, he'd give up the first round to her. Third option was to fall backwards and roll out of her range, coming back to his feet. It'd have him avoid both strikes but would set him into a position where the woman would be able to continue her relentless assault. At least there was a good chance her attack would be more...standard and Drake could react to it better. Really though, Drake wasn't considering that tactic. In fact... Got it! In a burst of information Drake changed his view of the situation. Option One was good, so was Option Two. Combine them. That was the basic premise. Drake carried out his basic strategy, continuing his right foot's motion, sliding it back and around more and more until he was outside of Xoco's stance as she hopped forward at him. Her vicious knee-strike would go wide of him and even if she tried to swing it towards him she'd likely hit his thigh instead, and without crushing force anymore. At the same time his left hand snapped out to grab hold of her right arm near the wrist, locking it down in a death-grip, and from there his right hand also snapped forward. His hand already being raised in a defensive position near his chest placed it right at Xoco's neck level, while her own hand was still down at her side. Drake's extra speed and the positioning of his hand almost guaranteed a successful grapple on her neck. Once his hand was on her neck he'd apply pressure to the carotid arteries, cutting off blood-flow to the brain which would slowly drag Xoco into unconsciousness, but in a way she wouldn't suffer any undue pain. To make sure he did it properly he'd use his grip on her neck and right arm to slam her to the ground, and he'd essentially sit on her. His right leg would pin down her left arm while his hands dealt with her other arm and neck, and he'd hunch forward to prevent either of her legs from striking his head. His large size and the hunching forward would simply make it physically impossible. If he got her into such a position she was done for, because the woman had neither greater strength or leverage to tip the scales. If he managed to get her in such a position, he would speak two words, ”Please yield.” |

Xocoyatl watches as her opponent side-steps her rushing attack. Only a fool would stand in front of a charging bull. Unsurprised by his dodge she is already prepared to defend herself by maintaining her form. He reaches out for her, but leaves himself completely exposed. Both arms reach, his legs balance, and he has no defense prepared. Recklessly he forgot about the battering ram of her figure. As she starts to land, at the same time as he reaches out for her throat and wrist, Xocoyatl kicks out her right leg directly for her opponent’s right knee, aiming to plant hard on the ground through the appendage at an angle from the outside to the inside. By striking at the front right (your right) of the knee it should either collapse the joint, causing a break, or collapse his balance, causing him to fall on his rump towards his left. To prevent his grapple attempt Xocoyatl’s form is fluid and mobile, sturdy and unbending. Rotating at the elbow swings Xocoyatl’s forearm down to her right so that it becomes horizontal just as his fingers attempt to close around her wrist. The miss leaves his arm above her forearm, her hand still bent so that it now looks like a half-prayer in front of her face, thin and straight like a blade. Moving her arm puts it in perfect position to snatch her opponent’s right wrist at the same time as her kick should connect. Having launched his second reaching attempt for her throat immediately after his last was launched his fingers should just about reach her throat at the same time as she dodges his attempt on her wrist. This extends his arm in front of him and lets Xocoyatl’s right hand close around his right wrist with ease, her fingers only having to close rather than reach at all. |

Experienced fighter was experienced. That much was obvious. While the length of their fight hadn't yet exceeded ten seconds it was as eventful as some fights that lasted for an hour. Why did I agree to this crap?! Xoco switches her tactic from a groin shot to a knee strike, and Drake feels his right leg give out, caving into his left side. The sudden lack of balanced caused both of his hands to be diverted from their course, he hadn't managed to grab either her wrist or her neck. He did get his own right wrist gripped though. Things weren't looking that good. Drake needed to be able to get away from Xoco, so he could recover and think things through, dealing with her relentless offense without being prepared was stupid (Really he should have made her come to him, the fight might be going a bit differently now). Drake had some luck on his side, or perhaps just the skill to realize something. Xoco had gripped his right wrist, but his hand was relatively free. His right leg buckling gave him some momentum as he began to fall. His left leg was still firmly planted. So Drake did the simplest thing; His right hand twisted and gripped Xoco's own wrist (He was stronger, if not by much), his left leg suddenly straightened by using every bit of strength in it, and his body forced itself to fall backwards. As Drake moved onto his back his grip on Xoco's left arm would take her with him, and his right leg would be able to plant itself into her stomach (granted he couldn't get much force behind it to try and knock the wind from her lungs, but it'd work for his purpose) and flip her up and over him, sending her headfirst onto the ground behind. Of course, Drake was really expecting her to let go of her grip then tuck and roll away. He wasn't looking to do anything but get some breathing room really. Just to be sure he wasn't caught by some possible counter, Drake had his left hand locked near to his chest, so he could have it react to perhaps an upper body strike or something aimed below his belt. Once Xoco was away from him Drake would jump to his feet and turn to face her. His leg stance would be somewhat wide, while both hands would be in front, about shoulder length apart and with palms open and facing the ground at the center of Drake's stance. He'd take the defensive this time, letting the fierce amazon come to him instead. Edited by Lumen Latonesh, May 23 2011, 03:14 PM.

Xocoyatl managed to score two hits upon her opponent at once, a successful charge by all accounts, but not decisive. Not yet. A battle is not won until peace is made with one’s enemies she not yet has that much control of her opponent. Her right leg plants firmly on the ground, through the motion of her stomping kick, and Xocoyatl’s right hand ensnares her opponent’s wrist. He attempted to turn the tables on her by relying upon his superior bulk. War is a risky business, and one that should never be gambled upon superior strength alone. The man pulls his free hand back towards his chest defensively while he attempts to roll backwards, however at the same time Xocoyatl takes advantage of her momentary grip. He rolls backwards, trying to use his grip on her to keep them locked together in an effort to pull her over into a throw. She feels him pulling her down through her arm but already Xocoyatl has thrown her left arm into motion. Forward with the thrusting motion of a spear Xocoyatl drives her suddenly clenched left fist at the back of her opponent’s elbow. The attack needs only accelerate a half dozen inches forward to strike upon his ensnared arm. He tries to keep a grip on her and she tries to keep a grip on him, making it impossible to pull back his arm in time to avid the assault. The force of the blow should weaken any ability to hold onto her, but to be sure he lets go of his grapple Xocoyatl will continue to push upon his elbow with her left hand until he releases her. She also lets go of him, leaving it up to him to decide if his arm is worth trying to toss her. If his arm does break then Xocoyatl will yank her right arm back, upwards, and to her right to break his weakened grapple attempt. If it does not then he will have released her anyway to save the joint from breaking. Once released Xocoyatl will use her planted right foot to push backwards and avoid her opponent’s upcoming knee, the launching platform for his throw attempt. Now several feet back from her opponent, who should be flat upon his back, Xocoyatl will retake the form she had begun the fight with, that being her right arm raised in front of her right shoulder and facing towards the enemy and her left tucked in towards the front of her chest, by swinging her arms backwards fluidly. |

Drake wouldn't immediately release his grip on his opponent's wrist when the left-hand strike hit it, but as Xoco continued to put pressure on the joint Drake would eventually release the grip to save his arm. Joints were the hardest thing to repair if broken, and if one was unlucky they could end up never being able to use it properly again after. So Drake releases his grip, and Xoco does so as well to get herself away. Drake's right leg would continue it's kick out (as he was aiming to put his foot in her stomach before not his knee) at her, probably connecting but not doing anything more then propelling her backwards a little off-balance, forcing her to regain balance before she could assume her stance and giving Drake a few more seconds of time. Drake would simply continue his backwards roll, using the momentum of it to somersault and roll into a crouching position before he stands. He assumes the stance he was planning before, legs little more than shoulder length apart and both hands shoulder length apart with palms open and facing the center of Drake's stance. They would be roughly a few inches lower than his shoulder height to accommodate for Xoco's shorter frame, making sure that if she attacked he would be able to react better. Drake wouldn't advance on his enemy, making it clear he was on the defensive now. As it stood Xoco was about ten feet from him. |

Both fighters reset as the first round of the fight came to a close. Xocoyatl had managed to hit her opponent a couple times, mostly in the joints, and that wasn’t going to be enough to take him down it seemed. The attacks did however discourage him. This time the man’s stance is heavily defensive, balanced, and steady. Clearly he has no intention of attacking her. It is unwise to fear your opponent. Scooting forward inches at a time Xocoyatl approaches her opponent. She keeps her balance even and her figure steady as she approaches carefully. He had already seen her charge him, and she would not risk being predictable so easily; not when he was going to let her advance so easily. At least it seemed so. She’ll keep approaching until he either attacks back or he is within reach of her forward right hand. Once in range Xocoyatl will jab her right hand’s fingers at her opponent’s head by straightening her elbow and wrist rapidly as the arm extends forward. The strike should take him in the throat with enough force to collapse a regular man’s windpipe. |

Drake simply let Xoco approach him slowly step by step. He had wanted to get some distance before not to stay out of melee range but to be able to set himself up in a defensive position. Quite frankly Drake was better at defense than offense, and that was because he often found himself under attack with surprise ambushes. Assaulted by a half-dozen children near his age Drake had found that turning his opponents own offense against them was often his best option. It was now his comfort zone in combat. Drake wasn't so much scared of Xoco as tempting her to attack him so he could fight as he was used to; defensively. Drake's positioning was nearly perfect to receive Xoco's strike, and by that it meant he could easily block and counter. When she snaps her arm forward to deliver a throat-strike, Drake's left hand is practically in the way due to his greater height, and as her limb sails past his in order to deliver the blow it would be the easiest thing in the world for Drake to be able to reach out and snatch her hand up in his. With her hand in his grip Drake would give it a full-strength yank, his solid footing giving him excellent leverage to be able to pull her up and off her feet towards Drake's left side. Once she was off balance and probably even airborne for a moment Drake would use the motion to prepare for a punch, using his entire body from his feet to his right-hand fist to suddenly thrust it forward at her left temple in a hay-maker. The force behind the punch was great enough that Xoco would probably break a bone trying to block it as it headed for her temple. If it managed to connect, it was going to most likely be a fight-ender. |
