Evening was quickly approaching, and not even a speck of land was in the horizon. "...I guess I should find something to do..." Newl mumbled on the deck of his ship. The sea was so vast;this being something he had never realized before. Newl had been on sea before, but to explore it by yourself, with no set destination made it seem all the larger. Though in this he found peace of mind. The size of the blue mass would hide him from his enemies, and all that sought to stop him. While it did give him a sense of security, a different sense of insignificance started to plague his mind. 'Am I really cut out to do this? I'm just a kid from a little stupid island! I've got no large aspirations, no legendary will power. I'm just a kid... Gray... Peppy... Arashi... and even Teal have greater dreams then me. All I want to do is save Scarlet.' A sigh inevitably left his lips. 'I'm no rebellious pirate as I'm made out to be. I-I'm just a teenager who loves his family. Wh-What am I doing?' After a moment longer of contemplation, Newport stood up walking to the entrance of his ship, but before he could even make it half way to the door, a strange smell filled his nostrils. Newl stopped in place looking around confused. What was that!? The teen quickly ran to the edge of the ship, smelling the air. It was there! What an odd feeling this gave him... A feeling of excitement, of anticipation! A feeling of a new leaf, of a soon to be told epic! It was amazing! "...The seas..." That was it! It was the smell of the sea! Despite sailing this great mass for as long as he had, he never seemed to notice what it was. 'Is this why pirates exist? This thrill?' He quickly shook his head, pushing away all these sentimental feelings. "Urgh! What am I thinking!?" he exclaimed, pulling back away from the edge. 'I-I need to stay focused! Remember Newl! Remember why you came here in the first place! You didn't come out here to make a name for yourself! Not to start a crew! Not for adventure! Not to become a pirate! ... You did it for Scarlet! Now snap out of it you idiot and stop filling your head with such fantasies! Stop being so dang sentimental with the seas!' he thought to himself silently. The teen would look up and continue to walk to the entrance of his ship, quickly entering it. With each step a new creak could be heard, all the way until the bottom of the staircase. Cautiously, he would seek to avoid any sort of contact with Masa or Teal. Newl opened the entrance of the kitchen, and started looking around for a mop, eventually finding one nestled in the back corner of the room. With a soothing splash and funneling noise, he'd fill a bucket up, firmly grabbing it in his left uninjured hand, while holding the mop under his right armpit. "Might as well do something to pass the time. Mopping gets your mind off things right?" he quietly asked himself, using the same staircase as before to return to the deck. Splosh! The bucket made a loud clang as it fell to the floor. "Yowch!" It would seem that Newl had stubbed his toe against a nail sticking out of the flooring of the ship. "...I... hate this stupid ship!!!" he yelled, kicking the water bucket in a fit of rage, sending the rest of the soapy water pouring all across the deck. As for the bucket, it would keep sliding until it slid over the edge of broken railing. A little bit dumbfounded, Newl just let out a heavy sigh, dropping the mop from under his arm. He walked over to the edge of the ship where the bucket had flown off, seeing the bucket was a ways away now. Newl looked back forward, to see if he could notice an island, and he did! It was actually quite close as well! The island was of considerable size. From what could be seen, it looked as though it was a lively merchant town, settling down for the night. There was nothing too distinguishable about it, except a bright red mansion on the peak of the island. This mansion seemed to glow in the setting sun, reflecting an impressive sheet of red light in the sky! "...This is... Valor Island... isn't it?" Newl asked out loud. He quickly ran to the helm, throwing it around to sail towards this new location. "Finally! A civilization where I can rest! I can finally take a shower and eat something besides fish!" he exclaimed. In only a few minutes they would arrive at the islands harbor, which prompted Newl to run to the edge of his ship, and cast his anchor into the sea below. This would cause a small jerk, due to the anchor suddenly stopping the ship's progress, but it didn't even make Newl so much as flinch. He walked to the edge of the ship, where the railing was missing, looked down to the docks. "...Maybe I should let them know we're stopping..." he emptily mentioned, looking over his should, towards the entrance of his ship. Edited by Kiosk_Uploader, Dec 20 2010, 03:43 AM.

Masa was busy looking for any maps that the kids had on their ship. "Geez, this place is so untidy it's ridiculous. How do they find anything here? There's no form of organisation..." As he was scrummaging in a box of stuff that looked like Teal's childhood memorabhilia, a tattered piece of cloth fell out through a small hole in the box, probably made by mice, or something. Masa sighed, and picked up the tattered rag, throwing it back into the box. As it landed, the cloth folded out, showing a map of north Blue, although bits were missing. He scanned it briefly, analysing the quality of the map, comparing it to the map he had in his mind. "That looks quite accurate" Masa thought, correlating the shapes and positions in his memory. He looked for a pencil or pen in the box, and luckily found a pen. He proceeded to fill in the gaps to the best of his ability, although it was probably slightly off because he was still a little bit rusty trying to remember the layout his parents taught him. As he did so, memories came flowing back to his mind. All of a sudden, he was back on Stearr Island, in his childhood home. He was sat at a chair, drawing a map of north blue, with his mother sat next to him. "That's very good, Masa. You seem to have got the hang of this now" smiled Masa's mother, a young and elegant lady who was watching him closely drawing the map with incessent focus. She wore the lightest touch of makeup to compliment her complextion. She wore a simple red T-shirt, and a beautiful frilled black skirt. Masa pulled his pencil back from the paper, smiling back at his mother, "Really? Finally! Do you think Dad will like it too?" His mother nodded, still smiling "I'm sure he will!" At that moment, Masa heard their gate click, and spun his head on the spot. Masa's mother also looked towards the window behind them. A man with dark brown hair, wearing a tidy black and red shirt and black jeans started to pass through their small garden which was full of fuschia's. "Dad!" Masa shouted, with a cheshire cat smile. He garabbed the map he had drawn, jumped off his chair, and raced to the door. "Welcome back, Dad!" he yelled, greeting his father by throwing his arms around him. The man smiled and laughed happily, kneeling down to hug Masa, before lifting him up and turning in a full circle. "hahaha, it's great to see you too Masa!" his father replied, before putting him down again. "How come it took you so long to get back?" Masa asked, with tears of joy almost pouring. "Well, I ran into a spot of bother on the way back" his dad answered, still kneeling and talking to Masa at his height. His father looked up and saw Masa's mother in the doorway, "Ah, Hana! I've missed you too!" He cried. She ran down to hug him too. "Ces! You should stop taking work from people who live in another blue. Besides, I don't want you to leave Masa alone this long. He needs you as much as he needs me!" replied Hana, with tears smuging her makeup. As Masa began to show his father, Ces, his map, the words began to muffle. Suddenly, Masa became conscious he was back on Newl's ship. Tears had fallen on the map he had altered, blotching some of the ink. There was a jolt that put Masa off balance for a moment, but it was nothing too drastic. "What was that?" Masa questioned, looking around the cabin in confusion. He found nothing, and so his eyes fell back to the map. "I will find the pirates who killed you. I swear it" Masa vowed, before wiping his face with his sleeve. He then pointed his finger on the map, trying to plot their position. Finding it difficult to do without visual reference, Masa looked out the cabin window, which was ruined with condensation. This ship was just unbelieveable. He couldon't see anything looking directly out of the window, so he then looked out at an angle. He noticed a large island port up ahead, with a glowing huge house on top of what seemed to be a hill. "hmmm. That red mansion.... that must be Valor island. Weren't we supposed to go to Medi island? that's west of this point, how did they go wrong? I gave them their heading. We should be at Medi Island right now" He got up and put away the box under Teal's bed, before dusting himself off, and going up to the deck to see what was going on. Was there a change of plans? well, Masa was going to find out. As he rose to the deck, he noticed Newl had taken the helm. Casually walking up to Newl, he asked, "What're we doing going to Valor? I thought you wanted to go to Medi island?" Edited by Masa, Dec 21 2010, 08:04 PM.

Teal came walking into the room that was allegedly the one he was borrowing and stopped in place looking a bit surprised and annoyed. What was this old man doing going through his stuff? While the old man was looking through his things he would find a picture of a boy, a man, and woman all standing in front of a large cottage like building that was built into the landscaping. The man had teal colored hair, which was short in front, and tied in a 6 inch ponytail on the back of his head. He was smiling, kneeling down. He had an arm firmly around a little boy with almost identical hair. This man was tan, had a somewhat rugged and defined jaw. His clothes were rather outdated, looking like they were made in the dark ages. What he wore was a simplistic white vest, a brown tattered sleeveless shirt over this, and very simplistic leggings. The woman in the picture was standing a bit away from the two, hand held up to her face with a smile gently placed on her face. She had a small bandanna tied around her head, which held her hair in it's neatly combed fashion. She was wearing a dress, which went down to her ankles, and an apron over this said dress. Her face was soft, looking down to the two before her. The shadow of her face would block sight to her eyes, which were likely rather gentle, like her complexion. Teal started to walk over to Masa hands clenching a bit. The map that Masa would find had several names marked across different locations scattered over the map. Under the names were bounty amounts ranging greatly. Something else one might note is that many of the names were scratched out. All of the names within a 2 inch radius of Medi Island were scratched out. Teal was shaking a bit, fist clenched very tightly, as if he were furious with Masa's nosyness. "Hey!" He yelled, in an unusual angry tone. However before he could say or do anything he felt an odd jerk. "What? We shouldn't be at Medi yet..." he noted, demeanor changing to one of worry, before looking back at Masa, nose scrunching up irritated. "D-Do you mind!?" he snapped, yanking the box out of his hand, including the map. "This is my stuff! DO NOT TOUCH IT!" the kid yelled at Masa, as if he were the adult here, hiding the box back under the bed. Teal would take off quickly towards the deck, swinging the door open, looking to Newl, cringing. "NEWL!" he yelled. "Why are we stopping!? I demand an answer! NOW!" Teal was on edge it would seem. Newl frowned a bit as the two came to the deck, still holding his head over his shoulder. "...What's up with you two huh? We lost our supplies right? Let's stop, rest up, get some food, and refresh ourselves in general" he noted. Teal grumbled under his breath. "Oh no Newl! I won't let you drag me across the North Blue like this anymore! We're leaving now!" he demanded, running at Newl. The teen turned around to properly face Teal. He let out a somewhat annoyed sigh, and shrugged. This was going to be much less then entertaining to him, but could he really bring himself to hit a kid? Teal suddenly found himself slipping on the sudsy floor though, sending himself sliding towards Newl, instead of running to him. "Waaaah!" he exclaimed, shocked by how slick the water and soap was. Newl cringed. "Wh-What the..." however before he could continue, Teal would slide between his legs, and desperately grab them to stop himself, however, this was so sudden that it sent Newl toppling backwards, off the side of the ship. "YAAAAAGH!" Splash, Kahdonk! The teen was lying flat on the side of the dock, looking dazed. "Wh-What? R-Really?" he struggled to say. This would lead one to assume that the spontaneous ripples in the water in between the dock and the ship were being made by Teal. Moments later, Teal surfaced gasping for breath. "H-How did I end up here?" he asked, looking around confused. "...Great..." |

As Teal yelled at Masa, all he could do was smile. He'd really gotten angry all of a sudden. "Hmm, Teal, cool it. I'm not gonna steal any of your stuff, I just needed to find a map to work out our positioning more accurately. Seeing as you two didn't know where one was on the ship, I just had to mosey around and take a look" Masa bowed his head slightly, "If I offended you, it wasn't intended. I won't do it again, I promise. Besides, there shouldon't need to be a need to do it again, wer'e making port at what looks like Valor Island" He added, looking out the window again, pointing towards the mansion he spotted before. Then, he looked back at Teal, and put his hand on Teal's shoulder, his eyes burning with intention, "You can trust me, Teal....probably more than you can trust most people" .......................................................................................................................................... As Newl and Teal fell overboard, Masa sighed, muttering. "We might as well be swimming. Can't anyone of us stay on this goddamn ship?" He waited for a while, before looking over the railside, noticing that Newl had fallen on land, while Teal was the one who had fallen into the sea. Masa smiled. Finally, they had found a port, or land for that matter. Now he could eat, and clean himself. As he thought about it, he lifted up his arms to find out how bad he smelt, and his face scrunched up, recoiling to the smell. It was so bad that it almost made Masa feel dizzy. "Only thing to do now is to get off the ship" Masa spoke to himself, before jumping off the side of the ship, landing neatly on the dockyard. He tried lifting Newl back up to his feet, and depending on Newl's stamina, he could be un in seconds, or longer. He then tried to break the tension, "Come on Newl, show some energy. We gotta fish Teal out and then find a place to stay the night. Crikes! I didn't know it was this dark" It hasd gotten to the point where the only light came from various lamps dotted around the dock, and the light off the moon, which was half hidden in cloud. In any given day, there were only a few moments of rest for the villagers of Pashmina village. To make matters worse, these brief respites were staggered at all sorts of odd intervals throughout the day. This meant that the sad villagers of Pashmina rarely had any chance to spend time with loved ones. But it also meant that any break from the grueling labors of the day was cherished. Little Terri, the daughter of a rather unimportant Pashmina man had developed a routine in order to maximize the pleasure that she got out of the brief breaks in her daily routine. Her breaks came in short one hour chunks, placed so inconveniently that neither her mother, nor her father, nor her siblings, nor anyone her age was free during poor Terri’s breaks. As such, Terri was forced to entertain herself. At the beginning of every break, Terri would wander out to the edge of island, located not too far away from Pashmina village. She would walk until she could feel the cold water of the ocean against her tiny little toes, licking at her feet like an affectionate puppy. There on, the very edge of the island, she would sit herself down, just far enough away from the water that the lapping tide would occasionally submerge her toes. And for the rest of that happy little hour, Terri would concoct fabulous stories, imagining what existed beyond the blue horizon. She would dream of wonderful creatures, and terrifying nightmares, and the majestic knights that battled them. With all her heart, Terri believed that one day, the majestic knights of those far away kingdoms would find their way to the tiny, insignificant, impoverished Pashmina village. The only reason that they had yet to arrive was because they were engaged in a heroic quest to save some kidnapped princess. Upon completion of that quest, the princess would fall, flustered, into the majestic knight’s arms, lavishing him with kisses. But her happiness would be short lived, for she would cry out: “I am saved, but sadly, your task is not done! My sister married into a happy, poor little family, on an Island far away. But, alas! Her poor village has been overrun by an evil, mad man. We cannot be together until I know she is safe!” The majestic knight would respond in a manner that honored his innate heroism. He would brush back the kidnapped princess’ hair, and he would agree to her quest. Setting out, he would find himself at Pashmina village, liberating the sad town, and realizing that Terri was in fact the Princess’ sister! The mere thought of such a wonderful tale was the only thing that allowed poor Terri to make it through each grueling day. That one hour, spent fantasizing on the shore was all she needed to meet the next day with steely determination. But every day she spent, waiting on the shore, dreaming, and every day that no majestic knight appeared to carry her away, Terri found it harder to maintain her faith. Just as that normally inspiring processes of imagination grew draining, Terri’s hopes were raised. A rather bruised and beaten ship pulled up to the coast, and two men, followed closely by a third leaped into the water, and swam to shore. Terri’s heart skipped a beat. Could these men be affiliated with the majestic knights? Were they here to save her? Her hour of rest was drawing to a close, but inspired by this new development, Terri was ready to brave the punishment for her tardiness. For the first time in months, a smile stretched from cheek to cheek and she bounded up from where she was sitting, scampering off in in the direction of that valiant trio. By the time she was in hearing distance of the three, Terri was panting, her forehead damp with sweat. Her breathes came in ragged gasps, partially due to the exertion, and partly due to her own tremendous excitement. The last words out of the older gentleman, sure to be some sort of bodyguard or butler for the majestic knight, made Terri smile even wider, if such a feat were possible. Leaping out of the small bit of shrubbery that she had hidden her tiny body in, Terri let out a happy cry. “Oh, Mister Knight! You can come stay in our village!” A few hops, skips, and jumps later, Terri was standing right in front of Newl, beaming up at him with her puppy-dog eyes. “Oh, I’m so glad you’ve come Mister knight! I’ve been waiting so, so long.” She reached up with both her hands, wrapping them around his big hand, and tugging Newl along with her towards her village. |

The supposed knight slowly but surely stood to his feat. "My aching..." Newl mumbled, looking around at the village. "Things... seem different here sense I last came here." he mentioned. Newl remembered stopping here as a small boy, it was just a quick insignificant stop, restocking and the like, so he didn't really get to know anyone. Before things glowed with such luminescence, and now it was only glowing as brightly as the dully lit lanterns allowed. "...How pitiful..." he mentioned with a small saddened frown. That's about the time someone yelled the words Mr. Knight. "Knight?" he asked out loud, head tilting a bit, as he spotted the little girl. 'Kn-Knight!? What are they talking about up there!? C-Could it be... Alexander!!!!' Teal dove under the waters, holding his breath. It seemed like something had spooked him a little bit. "Hey little girl! Where are you taking me?" he asked, voluntarily following her. "Erk... man... Masa! Get Teal out of the water!" he called back. There was something about females, and little kids that made him too nervous to deny. This little girl just so happened to be both of these things, making it even harder for him pull away. Newl followed the little girl around, frowning a small bit. Something he noticed: there were several bruises and abrasions over the frail girl's body, making Newl frown a little bit. "Hey wait one moment" he said gently pulling back away from the girl. He knelt down to her level, and held a hand up to her face. "How did you get all these owies?" he asked, frowning concerned. He had gotten such injuries before from being bullied when he was a kid, but nothing as frequent as this. To him, all of these injuries were rather... irregular. "These aren't from some bully are they?" he asked. Newl was very kind, and soft about the way he spoke to her, making him seem rather approachable. After a moment of time though, he realized he was rather direct, which might make the younger of the two feel a bit defensive, so he quickly changed the subject. "Those look like they hurt, but I betcha they don't hurt as much as this" he said showing the girl the cast on his other arm. "I got this from a thumb wrestling contest! I should never try competing against a monkey again! I would have won though, but he wouldn't keep making funny faces like this!!!" He said, pulling his nose back with his working hand, and crossing his eyes. --- Teal resurfaced after about a minute of time, gasping for breath. "Gah!" he coughed out, swimming to the shore. He couldn't hold his breath any longer evidently. "Urgh.. That was too hard..." he gasped out, pulling himself slowly back to his feet. "...Masa?" he asked a bit confused to still see him here. He quickly ran to a ladder that was used to reach the docks from the beach, and climbed up it. "Masa Ito? Is Newl still here?" he asked looking around frowning. "Guess not... Perhaps that knight isn't here..." he mumbled rather quietly to himself. After a moment of silence, Teal looked back up to Masa. "Was there anyone else here?" he asked frowning a small bit. |

As Masa had helped Newl get up off the floor, he heard some faint footsteps in the distance. He looked down the dock to try to find out who it was that was coming down to them. The figure was small, but in the shade, it was difficult to make out. "Looks like we've got company, Newl." He warned the teen, before realising it was a very thin young girl. Masa smiled at how the girl treated Newl, but was irritated by how she took no specific notice of him. He thought to himself, "Oh well, Masa. You can't win them all." As the two kids were talking, Masa drifted off and looked to the water where Teal had most likely fell into, trying to find out where he was. He simply put his hand up in agreement to Newl's demand to find Teal, and started his search for Teal. After about a minute, he noticed a bubble float to the surface, only kept light by the lamps close by. As he noticed it, he squinted to try to get a closer look and in better focus. "That looks like it could be Teal. Hey! Over here!" The bubble came closer to Masa, and called out "Masa?" to him . He noticed that Teal was closing in on the ladder closeby to him, and he put his hand down to pull him up. After the help, Teal asked, "Is Newl still here?" Masa explained that a young girl had come running down the dock, but after which, he didn't know where they had got to because he had been looking for Teal. "I think it's best we just find the nearest hotel and sleep the night in a nice cozy bed. Ahhhh, I can almost feel the soft cushions now. Speaking of which, Teal, why do our beds suck so much?! We should think of getting some, otherwise this old man's back will severly suffer!" |

Terri had expected someone a bit older. She stared up at Newl, her large, round eyes sparkling with adorable innocence and naivete. Having had her dreams fulfilled at long last, though, Terri was in no position to complain. She would be perfectly happy with this slightly less than majestic knight, as long as he managed to save her and eventually introduced her to the wonderful princess that he was going to marry. Terri, after all, was more than fit for royal company. And with her infinite charm, the young girl planned on manipulating her way into becoming the flower girl at the wedding between the knight and his princess. The wedding was sure to be a grand one, and the girl would not miss it for the world. Still dragging him along, holding onto him with both hands, Terri spared occasional glances back over her shoulder, waiting for the knight’s two companions to catch up. It was necessary for a true knight to have a squire and a servant, and Terri was sure that Newl’s two companions would fit those roles perfectly. When Newl stopped, Terri stopped as well, quite surprised at his question. The poor girl thought nothing of the little injuries that dotted her body - after all, everyone at the village sported the same bruises, cuts, and burns. Life as a citizen of Pashmina village was awfully cruel. She giggled happily as Newl entertained her, and poked at one particularly nasty bruise on her arm. “Oh, these? Everyone back home has them...” She smiled, and looked at that bruise closer. “Papa says not to worry about the tiny purples. I think its from all the work they make us do. But the really big purples happen when....” The little girl looked up at the sky, and seemed to register just how late she was. With a frightened look, she grabbed Newl by both arms once again, and pulled him off towards her village. “Oh no! Hurry! We have to hurry or they’ll be mad!” Keeping a firm grip on the knight’s hand, Terri started to sprint, stumbling a bit before righting herself and pulling him with her. “I hope your friends’ll be alright...” The journey to village was a short one. Panting heavily, Terri, pulling Newl along with her, rounded a final hill, and looked down at her small village. Sad columns of smoke rose from a few chimneys, and only a few windows still boasted light. Straightening her dress, the little girl looked up at Newl. “Um... You should wait here until I come and get you.” She nodded, and gave him a happy smile, and Newl noticed the young girl was missing teeth in a few places. Waving back at him, she skipped down the hill before pausing, and turning. “Remember! Wait here, and be very, very quiet! Or they’ll find you!” For a moment longer she waited, as if there was something else she wanted to say. But Terri shook her head, and scampered down the hill towards the village. Newl could faintly hear low voices, and what sounded like a squeak, or perhaps it was a whimper? A short time later, Terri appeared at the top of the hill, looking around from left to right. She pressed one finger to her lips, and grabbed Newl by both hands, pulling him down the hill. Keeping a wary eye out for something, Terri pulled Newl through the streets, pausing her and there to avoid the owners of metal footsteps. Finally, she entered a rather beaten down old house, the one window cracked in quite a few places. Terri straightened, and called out. “Granpapa! I’m home! And I found someone special!” Faint heat came from one burning ember, tucked away in the fireplace, and two candles lit the small room. An elderly man came out from a side room, took one look at Terri and her guest, smiled, coughed, and then shut the door, wheezing audibly. Terri let out a sigh and looked up at Newl. “Granpapa is sick. Papa and Mama will be home later. Maybe you can meet them!” She smiled, and scampered over to the kitchen, rummaging through what little food she had. In the dim lighting, Newl could make out a red mark across Terri’s cheek that most certainly wasn’t there before she went down the hill. ----- Back at the docks, the darkness attracted bugs. Lots and lots of pesky little bugs. They swarmed around both Masa and Teal, annoying the two quite substantially. The soft mud held visible proof of the direction that Newl and Terri had scampered off to, their footprints still quite fresh. All around them, frightening low noises sounded, and somewhere off in the direction that Newl and Terri went, Masa and Teal could see a pillar of smoke that signaled the possibility of a warm fire. |

Newl had been dragged around willingly, follow the small girl's every step. He couldn't help but smile at her naive' ways. There was something charming about the perspective a child could have. Worries plagued his mind about her condition, but acting upset, or unsettled certainly would not accomplish anything for him. His confident, and calm demeanor would only serve to fuel her idea of him being some kind of knight despite his rather ignoble presentation. However, after her explanation of her bruises, it caused the young pirate to become rather unsettled. "Urk..." he couldn't help but mumbled out. The 'tiny purples'? The 'big purples'!? She was talking like this was normal! And by the sounds of it, this wasn't some domestic situation, but rather a problem plaguing the entirety of the family! It disturbed him, but he refused to let it show. Kids were quite good at picking up on emotions, and he didn't want to startle or worry her. "Uhm don't worry Terri! They'll find their way to the village..." he solemnly mentioned. Newl grimaced a small bit, her warning only strengthened his unease. The teen decided to take her warning and went to lay low, however he heard someone behind him. He quickly turned around, and socked them in the stomach, while throwing a hand over their mouth to keep them from talking. One punch was all it took to knock him out. He realized that this was some sort of guard, and luckily enough he was able to take him out of commission before it alerted the others nearby. With haste, he hid the man in the darkness and extinguished the torch before Terri could return. He said nothing to Terri, only having a serious face that softened as the tension let up. In moments he would find himself in the girl's home. "... This is... bad..." he mentioned, taking little time to look at the surroundings, quickly looking to the sickly old man, but before he could say anything to him the man would disappear back into a room. "Terri..." he said noticing a red mark across he face. "What happened?" he asked, walking over to her, studying the mark on her face. "Did... a bad man do that to you?" Newl's face was very stern, showing that he was not in the mood for lies. He stood tall, looking down to her. Usually Newl was rather light hearted, but the way this situation made him feel thoroughly prevented this. ---- Teal took off his vest and started to squeeze it out. Next he would shake his ears, desperately trying to get the water out. "Gah!!! I wish I were a dog! Then I could dry off so much easier." he mumbled to himself, throwing his vest back on. The young boy looked around, judgmental eyes surveying his surroundings. "...Hmm... I don't think I've been here before...." he mentioned to Masa, walking down the docks a little bit. Bzzzzt! "What's that? Are you making that noise Masa?" he asked looking around to him. In moments though he felt bugs all around him, slowly increasing in density. "Agh! Masa!!! Let's get out of here!" he called out, starting to run in the direction of the smoke stacks he noticed. About half way to the village, he had enough of the bugs. "That's it!" he yelled, unsheathing his sword, while pouring some oil over it. He took a match and lit the oil on fire, swinging it around, sending bright burning pieces of oil flying around them. Hopefully none of it hitting Masa. This would likely scare the bugs away, smoke and light being natural enemies to such nocturnal creatures. Teal was gasping a small bit, looking up to Masa. "Are you alright? Let's get going, okay? I have some bones to pick with Newl...." he said, stomping away, determined to make Newl pay for what he had done by once again going of course. Each stomp he made was quite precise and defined, with the loud sound they made as he marched onward. "What's his deal anyways huh!? He ditched Arashi, and those other two guys at NIP, and now he's trying to drag me all across the blues to chase his fantasies of adventures and good times!!! Who does he think I am huh!? His crewmate? His little brother? His 'nakama'!? AGH! If only he didn't get involved with Pruhhen, I'd already be back home! You know what! I should have left with Gray! Even if he was a jerk, I'd already be home!" Teal audibly complained and ranted, with a certain aggression in his tone that was rather uncommon for kids his age. There was something profoundly mature about Teal... "...I'm going to kill him! If the Crackel doesn't kill him first, I will kill him" he said in a tone that made it seem like there was no room for joking right now. The kid seemed to be overreacting a bit. If his spoken words and tone didn't convey anger enough, Masa might notice how uncontrollably his fist were shaking, and how harshly he clenched his teeth when he didn't speak. Why was he so upset over a basic stop to rest up? On the way down the village, and around the hill, Teal would let out a sudden burst of rage in the form of a yell. "YAAAAAGGGGH! I'll KILL HIM!!!!" he yelled, taking in several harsh breaths. This would likely give his and Masa's location to the guards and watch in the area. |

The strange buzzing noises did not confuse Masa. He thought they were merely bugs, attracted to the body odour that was pouring off both of them. "This is why I need a bath.....Come on Teal, let's get going to find a.....wha?" Teal's silhouette was all that Masa could see of the boy. This seemed like the typical situation he would end up being while he was with these guys. After all the adventures he had had travelling the world, he would then be left by a kid from a ship which had only three people, including him, among it. He decided in the end that it was best to follow after the child, totally ignoring the bugs buzzing around him. After a while, one of the bugs jumped up, and bit his bandage. He lifted his arm up to one of the lamposts, and saw it was about the size of his palm, with four antennae on what seemed to be it's head. He looked at it, before punching the bug cleanly off his arm, sending it bowling along the floor. "Damn, these bugs are quite big! Hang on a minute....." Masa noticed a head popping up from a bush that was past the lamp. What could someone be doing out here this late at night? "Hey, who is it? Teal? Newl? Show yourself!" Masa saw the head bobble about a bit, before he realised the buzzing of the bugs was getting louder and louder. As the silhouette got closer, he could hear heavy steps, and the deep mumbling of what seemed to be a human, or fishman. He walked on, and soon came around a corner, where Teal was slashing the hell out of some of the bugs. As he cut them with his sword, some of the goo from the blood splashed Masa's trousers, staining them a sickly green. "Hey! I think I saw a person back there, and Teal, what was with you running away? The bugs are probably just active at night. Your overreacting." As the bugs scampered away, the boy seemed to have calmed down a bit. This kid was so easy to get riled. As Masa stood there, he tied his bandages back up again, listening to Teal droning on about him having problems with Newl. After a while, he gave into boredom, and after Teal mentioned he'd like to kill Newl, he kept walking, saying, " You don't mean that. Even if you did, you couldon't touch him." This seemed to confuse the boy, who, to Masa's mind, looked back at him to see if he was serious or not. He kept his steely gaze fixated on Teal, who turned back round and kept walking. Masa smiled, having a laugh with this uptight kid will be fun. Anyway, where is this village....ah! There, at the bottom of the hill was a small village, with some smoke blowing out of various chimneys, and lit very softly by more lamps. As they started to walk down to the village, Teal let out a huge scream, making Masa put his hands over his ears. Seconds afterwards, he heard loud shuffling from behind them. It was the silhouette from before, but up close this time. Masa could make out what he thought was a giant from the shadow, but before he dared to see if it was not, there was only one thought that bombarded Masa's mind.............. Run,run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run! Masa sped off down the hill, grabbing Teal, who was stomping his way forward slowly. As the child recoiled, Masa only said one thing, "Behind us" Edited by Masa, Jan 17 2011, 05:57 PM.

With a mechanized precision, Terri went about scrounging for food. The little girl carried around a stool with her, using it to reach those places that she was too short for. Even with the assistance of the green and yellow stool, she still had to stand on her tip-toes to reach some of the pots and pans. As she worked, her mouth salivated, and her round eyes sparkled with eagerness. The process of lighting the fire took quite some time, but after placing whatever it was she had prepared on the stove, she turned back to Newl. Taking off her apron, she gave one last glance at the stove before jumping off the stool, landing in an action pose. Laughing she stood up and hung the apron back where she had taken it from. She could feel his eyes on her cheek, and she pressed a small hand to the red mark, looking off into the distance. “Papa says they’re not bad men. They’re just doing their job, papa says.” She let out a harrumph, and crossed her arms, looking quite upset. “But papa doesn’t like them much. So I don’t see why I have to be nice to them!” Turning her head, Terri paused, and let out a sigh, quite clearly talking to herself. “Papa says that as long as we follow the rules they won’t hurt us... But sometimes the rules are so hard to follow!” With that last statement, Terri looked back at Newl, her large eyes shimmering with hope. “But now you’re here! And you can save all of us!” She clapped her hands, and turned around, jumping back up onto her stool. Sniffing at the meal she prepared, Terri wiped a bit of drool off the corner of her lip before lifting the pan off the fire. Scraping the contents out onto four plates, Terri set two aside, and carried the other two to the small, scratched up wooden dining table. Setting the plates down, the little girl fetched a pair of utensils for both her and Newl, and, after rummaging through a cabinet, brought out a loaf of bread. She stared at the loaf of bread like it was some magical item. Breaking off part of the loaf, she placed one part back where she found it, and carried the other towards the table. Her mouth hung open in hungry anticipation, and she placed it at the center of the table. From the look on her eyes, Terri clearly had a hard time not gobbling up the loaf right then and there. “Mama says I can bring out the sweet bread on special occasions. I think she’d agree that your arrival is special, wouldn’t you, Mister Knight?” Lifting up her utensils, Terri dug into the food, scarfing it down quite ravenously. She took carefully planned bites of her part of the bread, savoring each and every moment. The meal she had prepared was an exceedingly simple one, devoid of much colour. But it was cooked with affection, and let of a deliciously cozy smell. The bread, on the other hand, was delightfully sweet and chewy. “So, what kind of Knight are you, Mister? Wait! No! Tell me about the princess. What’s she like?” Bursting with enthusiasm, Terri looked up at Newl with shining round eyes, a happy, ear-to-ear smile on her face, babbling on and on about how beautiful the princess must be, and how lucky Newl must think himself. The little girl hardly gave Newl a chance to talk. ------ Dino had yet to report back from his patrol. In such a sleepy town as Pashmina village, this was hardly a thing of concern. The other guards waiting for Dino to return cracked jokes about how the missing patrolman found a particularly tasty morsel within the village. They imagined that Dino was enjoying the twisted benefits that complimented their status as guards. They fantasized about entering the village and “distracting” themselves with whatever they could find. After all, who would care? There was no one to stand up for these villagers. What little resistance once existed had long since died out. Now, not even embers of defiance remained. Having dwelt long enough in grotesque fantasies, the idle guards let thoughts of missing Dino fade away from their minds. After all, even if something bad had befallen him, his attackers would be in for a surprise. Dino’s partner was a most fearful individual. Far larger, and far dumber, than any of the other guards, Dino’s partner Brill was quite unable to control his strength. Amongst the guards, it was often hypothesized that Brill’s mother cheated on his father with a giant. Otherwise how could anyone be quite so large? Brill had been collecting bushes for some unknown reason when he had spied the ship approach the shore. Somehow, the large man had managed to conceal himself until Masa and Teal had emerged. Just as the bugs bothered the two individuals, so too did they annoy the delicate senses of Brill. He lumbered out of his hiding spot, and was most upset when the two ran away from him. He had just wanted to play. True, Brill was technically out on a patrol. But nothing ever changed. And so, the majority of Brill’s free time was spent playing with what wildlife he could find and collecting interesting looking plants. Unfortunately, few creatures could survive a playtime with Brill. He was both too strong, and too clumsy. Running after the two, Brill panted doing his best to keep up. “Wait! Brill just want to play! Brill just want to play!” Somewhere in his thick skull, Brill remembered that he was supposed to do something to intruders that he found. But that was a problem for future Brill to solve. Right now, Brill just wanted to catch these fun looking little creatures. |

Newl seemed rather distraught by her story, but quickly this building emotion of dismay. "...Thanks Terri.." he mumbled taking the food and drink that was offered to him. He bit off a piece of the sweet bread and smiled. "It's really good..." he quietly mentioned. Normally, under these circumstances, he wouldn't accept the food of a poor family. But due to what was about to be done. He decided to help himself to the food. He smiled and laughed a little. "Yeah it is a special occasion." he mentioned with a small smile, biting into the sweet bread. To his surprise it wasn't all that bad. He watched her with kind eyes, quietly listening to each word she spoke. Might as well be delightful while he could. Perhaps this was just to build trust between himself and her. Then she started to speak of things, purely fueled by the imagination that could only belong to a young girl like this. "What kind of knight am I?" He asked, abruptly being cut off by her excitement over the princess. He laughed again, "Now now Terri! I haven't saved her yet but... she told me I should come check up on you first! 'Please Newl! I know you lov me, but... Terri is so much more important'" he said, playing along with her imagination. By this time he had eaten the food the young girl had offered him. "But she wants me to rescue her as quick as I can, so I'm gonna go ahead and get started." he said, standing to his feat. "Thanks for the food Terri" he said, starting to walk to the exit. It may seem like to the girl that he was going to leave, but in reality, he was already dead set on saving this village. He isn't one to bide his time, and in this instance he was ready to release, at the very least, this village from it's shackles. Newl walked outside, swinging a yoyo in a round the world motion, looking around. "...Hey guards!!!!" Newl took a small break in hsi words, breathing in a small bit. "Come out here!!!" He yelled, serious expression on his face. "I'm gonna beat all of you to a bloody pulp!!!!" His voice was angry, and almost frightening sounding, especially to the faint of heart. --- Teal looked around to see the giant, standing in place, with a look of shock across his features. "Wh-WHat is that!?" he yelled, suddenly feeling himself getting scooped up by Masa. "Urgh!" he gasped out. Teal looked to Masa blinking a bit confused. "What did you do Masa!? Why did you cause a monster to chase after us huh!?" he yelled. Teal would squirm out of Masa's hands, and start running ahead of him. "Yaaaaaaggggh! I hate Newl!!!!" he yelled. "This must be all his fault! But even if it's not I'm blaming him!" Teal was clenching his teeth angrily, while tears were flowing from his eyes. "Run Masa! It probably wants to eat us!" he called out. Obviously Teal wasn't listening to what the other said. |

How the child hadn't fallen to the floor when he wriggled free from Masa astounded the old man. He kept running for about ten seconds even afterwards with his arms still in the holding position. As the three were reaching the bottom of the hill, Masa noticed that the path took a really hard right, what seemed like a 90' turn. "That's gonna be tight...Teal! Lean to your right!" Masa warned the kid, who was just beginning the turn. Behind him, Masa could hear the blurry, sluggish roars of the now confirmed giant. He looked back to check how bad the situation was, and he saw Brill, hot on their heels, and gaining due to gravity. " Jesus, your'e huge! Masa looked back again, remembering to expect the turn in seconds, and realised he was about to run straight on, into the woods. He tried to stop, stamping his feet on the ground to reeanact brakes, but the speed made him bounce from the ground instead, directly into the woods. The gaint carried on round the corner, following after Teal. " Dammit! I've got to get back there to help Teal. I don't want his death on my watch!" Masa landed through a bush, but hit the ground running, and managed to keep his balance to keep running. He looked right as he was running, and noticed through the trees that Teal was still running , now at parralel distance to Masa. Masa diverted his path diagonally towards the Teal and the giant, who was almost close enough to grab the boy. Masa got closer and closer until, he was able to re enter the path again, directly to the left of the giant. "Hey, keep away from him! You want to play? Well play with this!" Masa shoulder barged the giant, making little effect on the hulking man. Noticing that it didn't really work, and that they were nearing the village, about 500 yards away, he shouted to Teal, "Keep going! Tell Newl about what's happened. I should be fine, so don't worry!" Without knowing the reaction from Teal, he turned to the giant, and rugby tackled him, sending them both flying into the woods to their right. Edited by Masa, Jan 13 2011, 05:39 PM.

“You’ll save me first?” That idea had never before crossed Terri’s mind. But it made all sorts of sense to the little girl. Once the majestic knight saved the princess, it would be tragic for him to have to leave to go on another adventure. This way, he could take Terri to meet the princess right away! Terri beamed as she nibbled on her bread. Today was a most wonderful day indeed. She didn’t think that she could have asked for a better knight to come and save her. Outside, the air had grown strangely still. Terri prayed that her parents would return home shortly. But they had a tendency to end their weary days at the bar. All of the local bars had rooms to store drunk guests in. Terri’s parents had a most familiar relationship with those rooms. Normally, Terri didn’t mind when her parents stayed out. But tonight was different. She desperately wanted them to meet the majestic knight. Terri’s heart sank a step as Newl stood up to leave. Had her hopes been too high? No! It couldn’t be! Newl had seemed so nice... Scurrying over to the broken glass of the window, Terri stood on her tip-toes, peering out as Newl left. Her happy smile had inverted into a forlorn frown. At least until Newl spoke. Through the many cracks in her window, Terri could hear every word that Newl said. And her heart skipped a beat. So bold! Was this the fabled bravery of a knight? None of the other villagers, even the burliest of men had the courage to stand up to the guards. But Newl, armed only with a yo-yo was going to face this danger? Terri beamed. She had found her knight! As Newl made his declaration of intent, windows all around him creaked. Lights in a few of the houses faded out, but wood was cracked open, and eyes filled window slits, peering at Newl from behind the relative safety of the darkness. None of the villagers could afford being seen supporting Newl. But each and every one of them silently rooted for him - despite his age. Throughout the village, the patrolling guards diverted their attention to this intruder. Pashmina village was a petite village. Only a few guards were needed to patrol its streets. Never before had there been any problems with the village. From four side streets that led to where Newl stood, a total of seven guards walked out. Armed with a mix of swords and guns, the guards were clearly no more than a few hired hands. They lacked any real discipline. Still, though, they had managed to keep Pashmina village in check so far. They would not go down without a fight. Forming a circular perimeter around Newl, the guards laughed at the insolent teenager. They leered at him, cracking jokes, mocking the boy. “Did you drink your milk today, boy?” “Mommy’s gonna be mad that you took your toys out of the house.” “Don’t go crying to papa when we beat you silly, boy.” “Try not to wet your pants.” “Someone needs a spanking.” They laughed their cruel laughs, and hefted their weapons half-heartedly. One of the guards stepped forward, his sword still in its sheath, seeking to whack Newl on the behind. But Newl quickly rendered him unconscious. As their comrade fell, the remaining guards grew silent. Anger flared in their eyes, and in groups of two, the six guards lunged forward, snarling at Newl. Four of them wielded swung with sharp swords, and two of them wielded rifles. Both guards in the first group attacked with swords, one of them swinging low, the other swinging high. ----- Brill was thrilled that his fun little companions had finally decided to come out and play. The giant of a man embraced Masa as the older man tried to tackle him, moving back a step into the woods. Laughing with delight, Brill took Masa by the hands, and swung him around, humming a poorly crafted tune. Brill, clumsy as he was, accidentally released Masa, sending the old man crashing into a tree. Placing his hands over his mouth apologetically, Brill walked over to the man, picking him up none to gently. Speech was not easy for Brill. So instead of talking, he “gently” smacked Masa on the cheek. “Gentle” for Brill was rather rough. His “light” slap drew a little bit of blood, and wrenched Masa awake, dangling feet off the ground, staring into the gentle eyes of this giant. |

Newl stood in the middle of the encirclement awaiting for them to start advancing on him. His head was held lightly downwards, as he heard the steps they made. They didn't sound like they were in fear, worry, or like they were alerted. They sounds rather relaxed. 'They are underestimating me. To them, I'm no real threat, which is why their steps are slow and not hastened.' he observed looking around his surroundings. "Their first mistake" Newl mumbled, starting to swing his yoyo up and down playfully. The teen looked up, and studied the way they brandished their weapons. "..." 'They are holding their weapons in such a sloppy manner. They don't just underestimate me, they even lack proper discipline.... That is their second mistake...' he noted in his mind. About that time one of the men walked up behind him. "Approaching me from behind..." he spoke out to the person who was walking up to him. "...That is your final mistake" he said, directing these words specifically to his first assailant. "Adrenaline!" He exclaimed, swinging his arm around, turning with the rest of his body. The punch would cleanly slide across the guys face, likely knocking him out easily. Newl took a breath. "I will show you the error of your fighting style!" He exclaimed, holding his fists up, making a firm stance in the ground. Two of them ran at him, swinging their blades. 'Their final mistake, charging me...' As they came closer to Newl, he returned his yoyo to his hand. The teen jumped over the first blade, and held his yoyo in the way of the path of the second blade, being made of steel made it a perfect weapon to block a bladed attack like this! He reached out and yanked the one who swung his blade high forward. As he did this, he also swung the hand with the yoyo in his hand forward, using the yoyo to hit the foe in the face instead of his fist. He then looked to the other one who was still recovering from his attack, and swung his leg forward, kicking him cleanly from the chin. "Heh... Wow... that was easy..." he mentioned looking to the other four left. "C'mon..." he commanded. Newl started to do some yoyo tricks. "This is rather boring... are you 7 the only guards around here? Geez..." he sighed out. "I'm pretty sure even Terri could take a few of you out by herself..." Newl was now entertained, and actually felt some rather deep contempt for these men. The teen started doing some yoyo tricks, and threw it backwards, suddenly launching it forward. "Legnthy Force" he called out, aiming it at one of the guards with the guns, however, the attack backfired, suddenly pulling back and hitting Newl, sending him toppling to the ground. "AGH!!!! Wh-What...!? What just happened!?" he exclaimed, puling himself up, feeling blood trickle from his nose. ".... Owch..." (That little display is a personal thing related to Newl, just disregard it) --- Teal kept running taking the turn. "AGH go away Brill go away!" he yelled, feeling the shadow of the giant closing in on him. "No no no no no no!!!" he yelled tears forming in his eyes. Thats when Masa saved him. "Go see Newl? Okay I'll get him!" he called back, running off to go and find the alleged captain. |
