With the fiddling of the buttons and the wiping of the fabric, Grandy primped himself ready and pulling the final knot on his tie. He looked at the nifty pin strips of the suit on that other man, but today that man wasn't just any man. It was none other than himself in the mirror. He was really admiring the tailoring service that the Syndicate acquired. Grandy never felt so neat and high-class. It fit him well. He looked out into a virtual space, positively thinking.

"Man, My first official mission. Haha! I can't believe it."

He smiled as walked to the door filling his head with opinions about the location of his new mission. Could it be like a fancy sandy resort with red sand beaches? Maybe a large wealthy kingdom? His mind was set in high places for a moment. As he turns the handle of the door and slams it open. He steps onto the deck with a great smile.

"Red Sands! Here I--"

His Smiling face turned into shock. All he saw was a rundown small sandy village with a large fishing port and beyond the village was an endless scorching red desert. Disappointment and complaint ensued as he felt absolutely no moisture in the air.

"This place is not fit for a fishman!" he declared to the sun in the sky, that seemed brighter than ever. Grandy turns around and yells into the dark cabin.

"Isaac! You said this would be an easy mission!" He supports his words by pointing to the mission brief papers in his hands.

"Explain yourself!"

"..."

Isaac decided not to answer because, if he had learned anything while accompanying Grandy for the last weeks, was that he talked too much. Giving him an answer now it would only mean more questions and more question meant more answers and so on, which was something he didn't really enjoy. Instead, he kept staring at the small village "planted" in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by the weird yet somewhat valuable, red sand. It was a remote place, obviously, though their target had still managed to cause trouble in a place like this, after escaping from a bigger island like Gunsmoke.
The job wasn't particularly motivating for him, the bounty was lower than the last one, meaning he would get paid less and the target probably wasn't as strong as Avery and judging from all the crimes he committed so far, this Big S was just a moron who enjoyed to bully others. I wouldn't take much time, at least he hoped so.

With the ship docked, the two descended to the ground, steeping for the first time that curious reddish sand. To feel it better, he took a bit fro the ground with his gloved hands, staring at it from few seconds. The sensation was a disappointment because, deep inside, Isaac always imagined that it would feel differently from the normal sand, considering all it could be done with it, though, there was no difference between them, which only made him wonder if the talks about weapons made with red sand were as strong as they said.
But that didn't matter now because they had better things to do, specifically, hunt Saul Worney and complete yet another mission, after the success Avery's had been.

Pulling out his trusty documents handed by The Syndicate officers, he skimmed through the profile, in order to brief his fellow companion about the task they had at hands. once again, a bounty poster was provided so they could easily identify him. Unlike Avery's, this one didn't said much, mainly because he wasn't as famous as the previous. Reports talked about him having dispatched a significant number of bounty hunters already, though none of them had been sent by The Syndicate, meaning only small fish were taken down.
About his fighting style, the information was clear, he was a martial artist. Good news, then, as himself and his partner were also adept hand to hand combatants, but he didn't really had a problem with weapons, unless they were guns as he was yet to be discover how to stop a bullet or dodge it. On a last note, was the information about his last seen location as well as the name of their informer on the island, a local bar owner and former employee of The Syndicate but now retired, Jack "Slice" Matters. This final note concluded his study of the target and was now time to brief his fishman partner, who seemed to be uncomfortable around such high temperatures. Truth to be told, it hadn't been smart to bring such dark colors to a hot place like this. The agency outfit sure was cool but Grandy could have checked, like Isaac, that there were two available colors for it, one black & white and the inverted scheme, white with a black stripe, which was what he was using now. He could have warned him but, the idea amused him.
After putting the papers back in his pocket, he began with the briefing.

"Listen up, Saul Worney or Big S, is our target today. Last reported location was here, Rouge Village. It is unknown if his crew still operates but, we will assume so. This time we were also given the name of our informant, who seems to be a retired agent. He is the owner of the local bar, The Reddish Bunker. His name is Jack "Slice" Matters and talk to him should be our first priority as he knows where Saul is. So, we just have to find that bar. Shouldn't be difficult in this little village."

However, as soon as he gave a look around, he began to realize how wrong he was. Destiny or not, the place where they had just arrived was filled with numerous bars, left and right. Apparently, the search would be much harder than he thought.

As usual of his cold companion, ignoring the unnecessary and focusing on his mission. All Grandy learned from his partner's personally is that he's not going to get anything out of his mouth with such loud attitude. So, he just sighs it off and they continue on with business.

"Fine, but if my skin starts to crack and feel dry, dibs on the first to take the shower." he chuckled. He knew that at the end of the day, Isaac won't be able to keep that long glistening blond hair the way it is.

They moved onto the inner street of of the village, and asked directions to the bar. Many respond gladly with a smile. Grandy noticed about the villagers clothing and assuming their lifestyle. They live in such a rough place yet still have happiness in their lives. Humans are intriguing creatures sometimes... Grandy wondered about their smiles for the moment. He somehow came up with a lead.

"Hmmm...What has this old man done? These people seem to smile whenever we mention his name or place." He looked at Isaac in hopes if he was observing and wondering the same thing.

------------------------

Upon arriving in front of the pub, Grandy looks at the entrance to find the entrance had the 'CLOSED' sign hanging clearly up front.

"Eh? Didn't this old man get a message that we were coming?" Grandy scratches his head, looking for an answer. "Oh well, let's enter and see if he's still in there."

The orange crab slowly swung the door open "Hello? Any--Guh!"

Grandy's face was met with a beer mug and the two forces collided.

"I thought I told you kids to stay out of here!"

There stood a silver haired man behind the counter with flailing clenched fists of anger. Then he looked again to come to a halt to his fury.

"Oh my apologize, I thought you were someone else. I guess my eyes aren't what they used to be, Hahahaha!" He laughed.

"Baka! You gone senile?!" He went up close to Jack with a sore forehead and an enraged expression.

"Sorry, didn't mean to~"
He waved his open hands, gesturing no harm.

The misunderstanding subsided shortly after and the atmosphere settled back to normal again.

-----

Jacks serves to the two newcomers a beer each. He then towel wipes some mugs.

"Oh boy, Haven't those words in years now. Syndicate, Hahahaha! Some days they were"
He reminisced as he spoke.

"Like those times, with your father...Isaac." Jack looks directly at his eyes.

Grandy looked confused. Do these two have a history?

What could have been a tricky thing actually turned to be pretty simple, mainly because of his partner superior thinking. Not that he couldn't have thought of such thing but, since he was so used to rely on his own abilities, he completely forgot to ask around for information. Besides, he was one to keep his distance from common civilians, let alone ask them about the location of a bar, even though it was just common sense to ask around about a local bar. He wasn't very fond of talking with people, period. If he could do it himself, even if it was the hard way, he would do it. But all this wasn't necessary because his orange friends was quickly enough to approach one of the inhabitants and get the required information about "The Reddish Bunker". The only thing he had to do was to follow his lead.
Eventually, the two reached the building and, after coming upon a "Closed" sign, which in Isaac's head could only mean Jack was expecting them or someone else, considering it was so soon in the day to close a bar, Grandy decided to enter it without taking any precaution. As expected, he was greeted by the owner with a fist carrying a mug. After the initial excuses and misunderstandings caused by the fishman surprise entrance, the two finally sat at the counter. During all that time, Isaac simple watched it all at a distance.

"I'm surprised you recognize me at all, considering your eye sight isn't the same as before. That added to all the years that have passed. Impressive, I must add."

But of course, the inescapable talk about his father had to come up. Issac himself didn't know much about him or his past work, though, he did know the two, his father and Jack, worked together back then. At the time he was being trained to become a hunter himself, he was visited many times by Jack and even trained for a couple of times. Apart from that, there was nothing else he knew. At that time, he always thought the two were partners for life but that he learned about Jack connection to The Syndicate, he was beginning to wonder how the two got together, since he had no information about his father being part of The Syndicate at any time. And this brought more questions about the real intentions and reasons behind his enlistment at the agency. The Syndicate sure was powerful and renown and he was more than happy to work for them but, could it be that he was put there through his father influence? In truth, many years had passed since he last saw his father. He would assume he had retired like Jack but, did that really happen? Maybe this trip could be more rewarding than he first thought.

"Ah yes...your training...How much time did it pass? 12 years? Ah, good old times... Your father was quite harsh, I must say, but I guess it paid off. Look at you now, part of The Syndicate! And with a catch already! Congratulations, both of you!"

Yes, indeed, it had been 12 years, more or less. Quite a painful year actually, since it was when he failed his first real test. Failure made him resume his training and endure everything all over but this time, things were harder because he wouldn't be allowed a second mistake. It was during this year that he was visited by Jack, who taught him some basic moves that were later useful in the creation of his own fighting style. Bu that was it. Jack always remained in his memory as that mysterious guy in black from childhood. Only later he learned that him and his father worked for a while together but that wasn't explained as well. For him he was just a stranger from his younger times.

"How is my father?"

The question brought some discomfort to the old man, taking that joyous expression from his face. In fact, the change was so profound that he didn't even look the same, carrying now a much more deep and serious face. Judging from his reaction, he knew that the subject was problematic, but that was enough for him. Now he knew something was going on or at least happened in the past. As far as he knew, his father could be dead.
The man stared at him for quite some time and Isaac replied with the same kind of stare. The moment had completely ruined the mood. Eventually, the old man decided to speak.

"I believe you're here to talk about Saul, Am I right? Yes, i know where he is. This won't be easy, though. He might have a small bounty but he is smart. As soon as he learned he was a wanted man, he got himself and his crew some sort of a stronghold on this island. Many have tried to enter it, some managed to get in but no one came back. From time to time he still raids the villages around the island. this one here, however, he doesn't touch, not after the beating I gave him. Not bad for a guy in his late 50's, uh? Anyway, here is the location, just northeast of here and you can come back anytime, because like I said, it's safe in here. Here, I got you guys a map. I drew it myself so, it's accurate. Expect heavy resistance and a hard time getting inside that stronghold. I've never seen it myself but I can imagine how it is. So, any questions?"

Change of subject, as expected. At least, he moved onto an equally interesting matter, their hunt. Reports, like always, were incomplete but the old man filled them pretty well with the little details. It was also good to know that he hadn't completely lost his skill. Back in his time, Jack was quite the bounty hunter. Taking out the map from the counter, he gave it a quick look. The drawing was miserable but still understandable. It seemed it was still far from their current location and, as he feared, required to walk around the vast red desert that covered most of Red Sand. It's never easy.

The room seemed to darken more than it should be, the atmosphere intensified by the awkward silence. Grandy looked at the two, there was something about these two the went far deeper than just old friends. Only clue that was left for the crabman to ponder was the fact this dark history is about Isaac's father, darker than the very clothes and personality Isaac possessed. One thing's for sure though, Jack didn't want to dwell in reminiscence.

The silence was broken by the reason they were both here for, the mission.

-----

After the moment of brief explanation of the mission and the map. Grandy felt great discomfort over the dealing of the 'desert' part. He looked out at one of the windows, All he saw was the seemingly endless desert that awaited them. This surely was not a place for a partly aquatic being. If this wasn't a desert, it was a materialization of hell on earth.

However, a first mission was a first mission. Grandy does not want to disappoint the higher ups. He had to think of something.

Slam!

The orange man slams both his hands on the counter and grabs Jack's attention.

"Alright old man, I hope this isn't too much to ask but could I have a barrel of water?" he looked at the aged barman.

Jack looked back confused for a moment and it lead to an 'oh' face.

"Right, your a fishman. Hahahaha! Almost forgot about that since I see a lot of me in you from the old days. Confident and loud, Hahahahaha!"
Jack laughed his lungs out as he went for the back room to eventually roll out a barrel equivalent to the size of Grandy's bulky torso. The barrel had a tube the connect to the barrel at one end and cork closed on the other. It also had a pair ropes attach to carry on like a back pack. "Customized it myself, pretty nifty eh? Hehehe~ I got a message that a fishman would and judging by this place, your going to need this to keep healthy, Hahaha!" The old man chuckled with pride on his not-so-little custom.

"Whoa! Gramps! Thanks a bunch!" Grandy took like it was an amazing present on Christmas morning.

"Alright you two, I gave you what you need. Better get a move on"

Jack read Grandy's mind, he was now comfortable to walk out and deal with the elements. The mission must be done and they had no time to lose, especially if it was his first official one. He carried the barrel with his morale full and in check. Gladly, things seemed well for now. The two bounty hunters took their leave swiftly and without hesitation. A journey awaited them, and they felt sure and ready.

After the syndicate partners were out and gone, The old man sat behind the counter, thinking as he look onward at the lonely closed door.

"...Your a lot like your father too, Isaac." He smiled as if Isaac's presence brought him understanding about something. It was like a legacy, an inevitable fate between those two companions. Somehow seemed like the nature of the universe brought this together like a beautiful plan, and those two were right in the making of it. The old man understood what was that something.

Their future holds greatness.

After getting outside, Isaac analyzed better the map he had just received. Like he noticed before, the drawing wasn't famous but it was still fairly understandable, unless he was getting it all wrong. Upon looking more attentively, he realized the map didn't really gave them instructions about where to start, as it began right in the desert. At the moment, they were both inside Rogue Village and with no idea where to go. He knew that most of the village was surrounded by the desert but, which way was the closest to the Stronghold? There was always Jack Matters, who could give them more information, though he really didn't felt like going in again and ask for more intel. It was part of a bounty hunter to work with material that was given to him and so, that little map would have to do. With so many paths to choose, he eventually decided to head north.

After a few minutes of walking, they reached the edge of the village, giving a clear sign that it was in fact, quite little. From that point onwards, their lives would be at stake and everything would be much difficult. Once they moved deep into the desert, there would be no coming back until the target was capture. To aid him, he pulled the map from his pocket once again, giving it another look. According to it, there were three signs on their way to Saul's place, signs that were like checkpoints that allowed them to know their location in the middle of all that sand. The first one they should get across was a unique pillar that stood in an awkward position. The drawing showed 45º which he could only understand as the angle it was making with the ground. Basically, the first checkpoint/sign would be an inclined pillar. From that point, they would have to find the second one, a unique cactus. This cactus had been drawn with more detail, enough to be possible to count all it's spines. After a quick counting, he came up with 27 spines, which according to the side note, should be the hint to find the desired cactus. Finally, the last checkpoint before the stronghold would be a small oasis, with a lake and a couple of trees around, which was used by the pirates to get some supplies. The building where Saul was, was just ahead of the oasis and was possibly visible from there. However, even though they were given all those distinctive mars along the way, there were no indication on how to actually get there, meaning they would have to have some luck in order to find them. Jack's mind was the as good as it used to be and that was probably the best thing he could get done.
With the map fairly studied, he decided to move forward. After looking in all directions, he began to walk northeast.

"Stay alert. I don't know what kind of troubles this desert might have. If you spot an inclined pillar, let me know. That's our first checkpoint."

"Hmmm, a pillar...Seems like a hard thing to spot in a desert like this. Hahaha!"He laughed at his own sarcasm, but it could also be true.

"Well, If we're going out there, let's get ourselves some supplies ready. No time to waste after all, hehehe."

Grandy walk down the street of vendors, for such a small village, it had a good marketplace. Perhaps it harbor gains good trades, the crab thought to himself. So he took a quick look at things necessary for their journey ahead. Sticking his nose over some displayed products, then moving on to the next. His head was so focused in what he was doing, he left his partner to do as he pleased. For a short while, the shopping resulted in Grandy buying a rickshaw, a "how to survive in desert conditions for dummies" book, a supply of cookery and food, and two camels. The crabman had a knack for shopping, remembering the bargaining skills his father used to display in order to get the good ingredients for his restaurant. It's great that it came in handy at a time like this.

Grandy confronted Isaac, not sure exactly what he could have bought, or at least, what he has done in the time frame the crabman was gone. He hopes that Isaac could at least appreciate the renting of camels.

"So, what do you think? Let's go find that thingymapillar"

Isaac was about to move deeper within the desert when he realized Grandy had just disappeared. Looking in all directions to see if he had gone ahead in search of the pillar, he found nothing, meaning he would had either lost him or lost himself. There was a good chance that he went away without waiting for the crabman and so, he decided to wait for a bit, to see if he would show up. After a couple of minutes, he finally began to see a large orange thing moving towards him, coming from the village that he had just left behind. He wasn't alone though, as along side him were two large, ugly and probably smelly camels. As expected, his partner had decided to do random things in the middle of a mission, completely forgetting why they were there. When the fishman finally reached him and showed all his satisfaction for getting those two animals as well as all the other miscellaneous things, Isaac simply turned around and resumed walking, focusing on spotting that inclined pillar that they were after. He could walk fine so there was no need for camels, besides, they weren't comfortable at all.

Several minutes later and already deep inside Red Sand Desert, the bounty hunter began to finally feel the consequences of walking around a desert. The temperature now seemed to be well over 50º C and even with his white outfit, he was still too hot, which made him open his long coat and a couple of button of his under shirt. It wasn't much but it helped a little, even though it completely ruined his normally formal appearance. Still, his partner was probably suffering even more, even though he had that water barrel around him to keep him fresh. Added to the high temperatures was the monotony of the view, red sand everywhere. Withing his sight there was nothing distinguishable, only sand and more sand, meaning the pillar was nowhere near.

The two keep walking in the same direction for sometime after, until Isaac finally spotted something at the distance. He wasn't sure but, from where he was standing, it seemed to be some sort of rock stuck into the ground in a weird angle, which met the description of the inclined pillar. The idea of being close of the first checkpoint and know they were in the right direction, something Isaac was already doubting for quite a while, gave him a new strength, making him forget all the difficulties the desert was putting on him. However, as they walked towards their first goal, the bounty hunter began to notice a slight movement in the sands surrounding them. At first was just like a small breeze lifting the sand from the ground but gradually, the sand movement began to grow, with the formation of numerous holes all of a sudden, who were sucking all the sand in the surroundings, even the one which they were stepping on.

"Quicksand??"

To avoid being pulled into the hole, Isaac began to run in the opposite direction, using all his strength. At first, it seemed to be working , though, as he began to lose strength, he went back to begin slowly dragged into the middle of those awkward holes. But that wasn't normal quicksand because when the Syndicate member was about to give up and admit his defeat against the vicious sand, something emerged from the nearest hole. Soon, other things followed, emerging from the other 3 holes that formed around them. The creatures appearance ceased the quicksand or whatever was happening before but now, they were being confronted by 4 large scorpions. The animals were in the same color of the sand, reddish, and they all looked menacing and ready to attack. Their size was amazing, some good 4 meters length and 2 meters width, with large pincers and a treating sting on the back of the tail. Why they were attacking, he had no idea but he sure wasn't going to just stand and watch them killing him and his partner. Even though he was quite exhausted already because of all the walking, he wasn't going to give up.

"I guess we will have to fight them."

The atmosphere changed with the sudden encounter. Grandy, with the two camels in his aid, was able to escape the sinking of the sand and the surrounding of the large red beings due to the long strides these nifty smelly camels can perform, but they're now shivering in fear from the situation. Grandy quickly dismounted and smacked their rears.

"Quickly you two! behind the biggest dune!" They both groaned in fear and nodded as they rush for safety.

It seemed all were focused on Isaac, who was exhausted on his own. Grandy wasn't have the time of his life either, the heat was practically cooking his insides and his skin was stiff. He hurriedly splashed cool water on his skin and chugged some in while he was at it. It refreshed him somewhat well.

"Yeah let's fight these stupid insects."

One of the scorpions surprised when it hasn't noticed the orange crab, was pounced upon it's tail and the stinger bashed right into it's own back.

"Preemptive strike! Like they say, Have a take of your own "medicine"! Hahaha!" He smiled at his instant success, but the battle only begun.

The next immediately took an attempt to attack Grandy without hesitation.

"Whoa! Get yourself in gear Isaac!"

As one of the large scorpions charged against him, Isaac unsheathed his swords, taking them form inside his longcoat and positioning them in from of him, in a defensive stance. The creature wasn't a fast runner, which made things easier, yet, the speed of his stinger attack was impressive, as he noticed previously when Grandy took care of one. The main threat would be exactly that poisonous and sharp sting on the back of the scorpion tail. Once removed from the equation, the scorpion wouldn't be much of a problem, even with the pincers taken in account. Because of this, it would be his primary target.
As the reddish scorpion approached his position, he prepared himself to attack, slowly shifting his stance accordingly to what he was about to do. When they were close enough from each other, the bounty launched himself towards the charging creature, passing in the middle of it's pincers unharmed, towards it's tail. The animal, however, was quick to react and instantaneously prepared his stinger to stop the attacker. But Isaac was prepared and expecting such move. His swords were now close to his body, in a scissor-like position, ready to execute the Syndicate member technique.

Magnolia: Block Breaker!

This was actually a variation of the move, since it wasn't designed to work this way but, given the situation, he decided to use it as it was the best move he had for the task he had in mind. The stinger closed in fast but by the time it should hit Isaac's body, the bounty hunter was long gone and had already landed on the other side. The sword technique allowed him to cut clean through the creature's tail, effectively removing it's biggest threat from the fight. Upon being cut, the animal screamed in agony, as the blood began to sprout from the cut and the pain began to kick in. Taking advantage of the situation, Isaac decided to finish him off while it was recovering from the attack and after jumping onto it's back, he stabbed him with both swords in the back of the head, finally killing it. One down, other to go.
As soon as he ended the large scorpion's life, the other one attacked, ramming the body of what it could be said to be it's fallen comrade. The previous fight had exhausted him more and he had decided to have a small rest, to catch his breath. This little mistake made him be thrown away to the sand by the second scorpion, who caught him off guard. His swords were also lost, as they were now stuck in the dead animal's back. Without his swords, he would have to fight with his bare hands.

The scorpion attacked again, using it's pincers to try to Isaac in half. At the time of it's attack, the bounty hunter was still trying to get up from the sandy ground and it was with a bit of luck that he managed to avoid the first attacks and get up to face the unusually large animal. Since he didn't have Savage & Pain anymore, he couldn't count on their cutting ability so, the only way he could defeat was by being within his arm reach, meaning he would have to be real close to the scorpion. He could, though, do like his partner, who jumped onto the back of one of the creatures and let them use the stinger to kill themselves. In fact, that was the best option he had. Taking balance, he ran towards the menacing animal, who was still swinging around it' pincers, and with a jump, he managed to get onto it's back. Feeling the bounty hunter on it's back, the scorpion began to shake around to see if it was able to throw hi off, though, Isaac managed to keep on top of him by grabbing the base of it's tail. Realizing it didn't work, the large creature began to dig in the sand, entering it and traveling underneath. For some minutes, Isaac remained in darkness, feeling only, the thousands of small reddish sand grains being pressed against him as the scorpion made way through the hot sand. During that time, he had to hold his breath because if not, he would swallow the sand and suffocate. At the same time, he would have to hold himself really tight, if he let go, he would be buried alive.
Eventually, the scorpion returned to the surface, for much of Isaac's relief. It didn't took much for the scorpion to realize he was still then and soon, the vigorous movements to throw him off started again. This time, however, he wasn't going to wait for the creature to try to use the stinger and by doing it, stab itself. Instead, he was going to take the initiative. Using one of the strong movements, Isaac was let himself be sent into the air, only to land right on the head of the scorpion. He then threw a couple of punches but they didn't had much effect and instead, it only made it more angry. With the pincers, the creature of the sands tried to cut him but in vain, as Isaac easily avoided them. Failing to hit him with the pincers, the reddish animals resorted to it's deadliest weapon, the stinger. The first strike, almost caught the bounty hunter off guard, almost hitting him on the back. His position also made it miss it's own head, making it land on the sand, though, the next time would be different. And it was. When the scorpion threw the poisonous sting again, Isaac jumped over it, just when it was about to hit him, making it stab instead, the creatures own head, killing it.

Wish You Were Here
A sharpen pincher began to reach out trying to clip at the body of Issac with a power that should have pierced through and dug into wood with very little ease. The exoskeleton itself was strong enough to protect it from just about everything that could have possibly harmed him. Or so the creature would have thought prior to this exchange.

With little to no effort, the crustacean felt his skeleton, his arm, and just about all the soft tissue in between began to break. The pain and death seemed to come at the same time, and neither of the two were of any bother to the creature. It simply began to gargle slightly before finding it's place in the crimson colored sands.

Sam watched as the desert island grew closer and closer. He took a drink of water and prepared himself for the ordeal that would lie in front of him.

A little while earlier he had recieved a message from the Syndicate for him to assist a veteran member of the Syndicate. He was required to move to the West Blue to hunt for a man named Saul Worney on Red Sand Island. He had a bounty of ::beli:: 1,875,000 and had been attacking small time rookies on the island. Sam was supposed to meet up with somebody named Issac Silverberg.

As he docked he felt the heat of the desert. It was strange but he had a mission and he had to complete it. He walked on the sand it was tough. Sam decided that he hated sand and just grudgingly trudged along.

He had no idea were his partner was but he had been supplied with a picture. A sword user wearing white clothes. He looked around. White was a popular colour among people on the island. Smart choice considering the heat. He looked at his clothes and cursed himself for wearing his usuall black outfit.

He had no idea were his partner was since he had arrived on the island before him and this island wasn't neccesarily somewhere easy to cover. He had mixed feelings about having a patner since his last one was weak and had been wiped out almost immediatly. He had completed the mission by himself and the aid of another bounty hunter but the idea of a partner never really took hold as a good idea in Sam's brain.

He walked around for a bit, drinking water as he walked, until he met a man that matched the description of the picture. He watched as he expertly used his swords to defeat a scorpion. Maybe his partner had merit. Sam walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.

The only scorpion left, seeing as how the other three got defeated, decided to leave the place, digging up the sand again and vanishing underneath it. For Isaac, it was a relief because he had fought enough already and the burning sun wasn't helping at all. With nothing else to do there, he sheathed back his swords and prepared himself to resume walking, as his journey was still far from being over. However, as he was about to move, someone or something touched his shoulder, which quickly made him go for his weapons, in case it was some sort of surprise attack. Slowly turning around, he found the figure of a man exhibiting the usual Syndicate outfit. It was also by that time he realized Grandy, his fishman partner, was strangely missing. But he wasn't much concerned because this wasn't a new situation for him, the orange crab tended to disappear and appear later on. Instead, he focused on the newcomer.

"I see you wear a Syndicate outfit. Mind identifying yourself?"

It was just after fishing his sentence that it hit him. This man was wearing a Syndicate outfit, one quite similar to Grandy's and at the same time, his partner was gone. Could this mean he had something to do with the crabman disappearance? If so, he was probably a member of Saul's crew and was trying to act as a double agent. A smart move, no doubt, but if this was the case, he wasn't going to let himself being tricked like that, he was going to seek out the truth. And that was fairly simple because true Syndicate members were easily identifiable.
Keeping a grip on his swords under the coat, he kept questioning the man to see if he was really who he appeared to be.

"Do you have a mission here? What mission is that?"

Knowing the mission that was going on at Red Sand Island was important and would help him understand if the guy was faking or not. There was only one active mission on the island at the movement and all members knew which one it was and what were their goals, as well as their informant there. Knowing all this would be crucial for anyone that decided to take on the mission and so, Isaac knew they would tell him everything. But there was more, a final question that would completely take any doubts form his head.

"Also, tell the name of the Syndicate leader."

As they all knew, th Syndicate didn't had a leader but rather a group of leaders and their names were kept a secret. They also had no direct contact with the filed bounty hunters, giving orders through a series of letters which were delivered at the Syndicate outposts through the Blues. But of course, only a member would know this kind of information.

Sam just listened to the man speak. It was clear from the get go that he was suspicious of Sam. Not that that was unusual. Being part of a orginisation so big made it quite possible for outsiders to try and imitate members of the Syndicate in order to easily obtain rewards. Sam took a drink of water and then answered the man's questions.

"Names Samuel H. Stryker. We don't have a leader. We have a group of unknown leaders but no one individual is in charge. Also our target is Saul Worney."

Sam decided that he hadgiven enough information away. He was not fully trusting of this man either. He had just arrived and he had matched the description provided. He wasn't sure if he was a part of the Syndicate but judging from the questions he had asked it seemed quite likely he was.

Sam looked at the scorpion's dead body. The shell and exoskeloten was quite thick. He gazed back at his partner. It would require a decent amount of strength to be able to defeat one of them. After his miserable failure of a previous partner he was quite interested to see how a actual strong partner would play.

He just stood there next to Issac for a little bit and after a while he decided he would start moving.

"Lets go. No point in getting cooked standing out here."

Apparently, the answer checked and that man was safe from any harm as he said exactly what a Syndicate member was supposed to say. Considering all what the agency represented and their own procedures, it was very unlikely for someone to know all this, infiltrating this way the system that was closely monitored by the board of directors leading the bounty hunter group. Because of all this, it was pretty safe to assume that this man, Samuel H. Stryker, was in fact, a full fledged member, juts like Isaac himself. Since it was all cleared out, the two could move on towards the target, the desert fortress and Big S. By now, and after being suddenly attacked by those scorpions, the silent bounty hunter was already expecting more difficulties in his path, that would be added to the excruciating heat it would be felt at Red Sand Desert. Their target could be a weakling but he sure knew how to hide himself.

"The name is Silverberg, Isaac Silverberg."

Isaac quickly assumed the lead, having Samuel following closely behind, mainly because he was the one with the map. So far, they had passed by the first checkpoint, that awkwardly inclined pillar back were he met those scorpions, and so, they were only two checkpoints away from the place where Saul and his men were hiding. Pulling once again the map, he gave a quick look at it, trying to figure out which way to pick. As he had noticed before, the direction on it were pretty vague and so, he focused only on the sign that would come up next, a unique cactus with 27 spines. Now, something like this was fairly easy to find in the desert since there shouldn't be many cactus around, though, to find one with a specific number of spines, well, that was something else. Fortunately, the number of cactus didn't seem to be that big, judging the emptiness of his surroundings. Hopefully, the first they would come across it would be the one they were after.
Returning the map to his pocket, he then kept on walking deeper into that sandy hell they were in. Eventually, they finally sighted a big, greenish cactus at distance, filled with spines, which would need to be counted. This, of course, motivated the bounty hunter, who was now fairly exhausted by all the walking and the intense heat he was being forced to walk in. Increasing his pace, he approached the plant, quickly starting to count all the spines. When he finally got the number, his reaction wasn't quite of happiness but rather of frustration and anger. There weren't 27 spines there, but 28. To make sure he wasn't mistaken, he counted them again, only to get the same number. Since it wasn't this one, they moved on.

Shortly after, they came across yet another cactus, this time, a much smaller one, with a reddish tone, quite similar to the sand they walked on. He repeated once again the same counting process, making sure he didn't miss a spine or counted it twice. After a couple of minutes, he finally ended. this time, he carried a completely different expression. Isaac wasn't one to smile often and so, this was one of those rare occasion were the did so. The reason was simple, this one had 27 spines.

"We are at the second checkpoint. The fortress is close, we just need to get to the 3rd point. Stay alert."

It was when he finished speaking that something happened, just like when the scorpions attacked. This time, instead of quicksand, it was a couple of trap doors that revealed several entrances from where groups of armed men emerged. Judging by their faces and attitude, their objective was simple, kill them. Even though he was severely weakened by a conjugation of the last fight, intense heat and long walking time, he would have to gather some strength to defend himself and defeat them because that was the only way they could keep on going. With a quick look, he counted estimated how many they were, getting a total of 10. As expected, they all carried weapons of sorts, but lucky, none of them brought a firearm. At least they were safe from ranged attacks, the only problem was the exhaustion.

"5 for each, try to break them apart. Taking them one on one will be easier."

Inhaling deeply, he prepared himself for the battle ahead. In normal conditions, this would be as easy as swimming, but after all he had gone through, he would have some problems. They really needed to rest afterwards or at least get some fresh water. For the first time he regretted losing the crab man as he had a large barrel filled with water on him, while he had nothing.
