OOC Arthro listened to Gene’s conversation, making sure to hear the directions to their room. He nodded to Gene as he departed and walked over to the old woman. Her eyes widened as he leaned down to her level, towering over her as he spoke quietly. ”Look, I know it’s this town’s business to capture pirates and I know whatever brought you to this point must have been frightful. All I want to say is, we mean you no harm, but we are strong. If you attack us in our sleep we will not hesitate to kill anyone involved.” She nodded dumbly. He straightened up and sighed softly. Athro took no pleasure in intimidating, but knew it could be a powerful tool, if used correctly. Arthro turned and made his way up the steps, which squealed in protest of his weight. They lead to a bathroom and a single hall. He headed down the hallway. It was plain except for a single decoration, a portrait of a boy wearing a mask. He stared at it curiously before entering the room. He looked around and sighed wearily. It had one window and was empty except for two small beds and a nightstand between them. He took off his backpack and set it beside his bed. ”Well, good night” It was only seconds before he fell asleep. His slumber was dreamless and it wasn’t long before he was woken up to serve his shift. He rubbed the weariness out of his eyes and sat up on his bed. Today was going to be tedious. What he wanted to do, he could accomplish in an hour, but apparently his partner had plans of a different nature. He cleared his thoughts on the day ahead of him and instead focused on his research. After a week of nothing but experimenting, it was weird to not be able to move forward at all. Taking out a piece of paper, he started finally writing down the equations that had developed in his head over the past week. He was only halfway through when he saw the sun start to peak above the horizon. He turned and gently shook his partner’s shoulder. ”It’s morning Gene. Lets get this stuff over with.” Seeing his companion start to rise, he stood up and stretched, hoisting his backpack onto his shoulders. ”I’m going to go see what they have for breakfast.” Eyeing the painting on his way out, he headed back down the steps and into the lower level. The smell of eggs and toast guided him to his seat, where he looked towards the kitchen expectantly. |

Gene was gently shook awake by his partner, although he didn't get out the bed right away. He laid there for a few moments organizing his thoughts for the day, while Anthro left the room. Slowly he crawled out of bed, grabbed his pistols and rifle, then walked downstairs. The smell of toast and eggs stirred his stomach to wakefulness, and he was eager to eat. Gene sat down at the same table as Anthro, he had a slight grin as he saw Anthro's face towards the kitchen. "Morning... Bit hungry aren't you?" It took a few minutes for breakfast to be served, not only did the eggs toast and bacon look fresh, but smelled even better. The old woman even seemed to be acting a little different, she didn't seem to be so on edge as she was last night. There was even fresh orange juice for them, Gene wondered what warranted this kind of change. 'Well the stew didn't kill us, so I guess this is safe to.' Shrugging the notion off he began to eat his breakfast, he scanned the eating room closely. The two drunk men from last night were still here, except they were snoring on the floor close to where they were sitting. There was a new occupant here, and he didn't look as friendly as everyone else. "Do you think he's gonna be our shadow for the day?" Gene whispered to Anthro, as he slight nodded his head towards the mystery guy. After he finished eating, Gene excused himself from the table and preceded to leave. Before he did go, he stopped by the front desk and left some beli with the younger girl. "Thank you for the room and food, has been a pleasure staying here." He then walked out the place, and off to spend the day exploring a gun shop, and info. Gene wasn't sure what that guy was doing there, but if he was there to follow them both, he was in for a very rough time. As he was walking through the village, Gene noticed that nearly everyone here was eying him. It was look they half expected him to charge at them guns blazing, even if he wanted to do that, three shots weren't nearly enough. Most of the children were playing and paying little mind to him, that made him feel a little better. 'Least the kids aren't caught up in this wave of madness.' By the layout of the town it looked like it was built as a sort of maze. Some alleys intersected each other, that could lead you into being trapped in a four-way pincer move. There were other alleys that were built up as dead ends for those that could climb to freedom. Sadly it took Gene the better part of the afternoon to finally find the gun shop. As he walked in the owner looked as if he was going to have a heart attack. The man was balding, pudgy and had eyes that darted around like a cornered animal. "May....may I help...help you?" Gene nodded to him, trying to be a friendly as possible. "Yes sir...do you buy any chance have any Flintlock double-barrel pistols in stock?" Edited by Cruxnic, Sep 24 2010, 09:59 PM.

”Hell yeah I’m hungry. This stuff smells amazing." His spoon was in the bowl before it hit the table. The old woman giggled a little at his enthusiasm and went back to get them orange juice. She seemed cheerier this morning, but he didn’t worry about it too much. She was probably just glad to be rid of them. At Gene’s instruction, he looked around the bar and noticed the new customer. The man was big, almost as tall as Artho. His hair was long and unkempt and his face looked as if it hadn’t seen a razor in years. A high-powered rifle leaned against his leather-covered thigh. He wasn’t looking at them directly, but judging by the way he reacted to Arthro eyeing him, it was obvious they were being observed. Arthro shrugged and turned back around. ”Well, if he is, he’ll have trouble following both of us. It’ll be interesting to see who he chooses to follow.” Noticing that his plate was now empty, he deposited a generous tip within and turned for the door. His steps quickened to catch up with Gene as he exited the building. ”Let’s meet at the docks alright?” Gene went off to the left so Arthro decided he might as well go the opposite direction. It was a beautiful morning for the most part. Although the town was keeping a watchful eye on him, they went about their lives as a normal town would. Mothers were burping babies with noticeable gun-shaped bulges on their waists. Kids were playing, but only the older ones. The young ones left to play deeper south into the island and away from the city. He supposed there might be a sort of nursery there. Finding the glass blower’s shop proved harder than he expected. Most of the town was more for show than anything else and finding stores with things of actual worth was a difficult job. Just as the sun was reaching the middle of the sky, he found the small building. It was primarily a smithy, but it sold gunpowder and glass products too. The blacksmith shop was outside and most of the products were displayed on tables, except for curiously large pieces of sheet metal that were stacked near the back. His business though, was inside the glass shop. He walked into the doorway, immediately assaulted with the smell of melting glass and hot iron. A surprisingly small middle-aged man walked out from behind the counter and held out a soot-covered hand. ”Hey, I’m Liam. Visitors should probably visit the shop by the docks. They probably have more of the stuff you’re looking for. I just sell tools and other odds and ends.” The man’s hand was completely engulfed in Arthro’s as he followed the custom. He smiled a bit at the man’s admission. ”Yeah, I was there earlier today. They’re all for looks. Everything is polished, but the welds are half-assed and the glass quality is awful. Here, everything might not look like gold, but it’s quality work that’ll last you.” The blacksmith extracted his hand and smiled broadly. ”Well, good eye or not, I made a deal with those shops that I would only sell to townspeople and in return, they only sell to visitors. Of course, I can’t bring myself to turn you down. How about this, I bought some firewood a few days back and it’s waiting for me at the lumberyard. Usually I pay the lumberjack to haul it here , but if you fetch it for me, you can have whatever you want.” Arthro said his thanks and upon receiving the directions, he headed out to do what he was told. The lumberyard was on the southern edge of town. It was small, as was expected of an island of this size, but very busy. It was most likely the only one on the island. Despite the crowd, loading his wagon was quick and easy. The place was well organized and the smith’s load was already set apart from the rest. He supposed it had waited the longest since it was closest to the forest. Leaning over to pick up his first log, he noticed something curious. Through a hole in the foliage, he could see a small, but easily discernable pirate flag. At first he though it was attached to the tree, but after stepping to the side a bit, it was clear it was attached to a mast. Continuing to load on logs to not look suspicious, he puzzled over the discovery. He had scouted around the whole island, and that piece of coast was rocky and unreachable. He remembered the path in the rocks they had followed in. It seemed as if something connected, but he wasn’t sure what yet. Having completely loaded up his wagon, he headed back. His stomach growled as he unloaded the wagon’s contents by the forge. It was already early afternoon and he hadn’t eaten since morning. Food was next on the agenda. Liam walked out the building and greeted him.”Thanks, I’m getting a little old for doing it myself and the lumberjack overcharges for hauling it. What was it you wanted anyway?” Arthro walked into the shop and picked out two small test tubes. ”This will be all. Thank you!” He put them in the two empty spots in his chemistry set case, before placing the whole bundle back into his backpack. The small man looked as if to say something, but gave him a short wave and headed back outside. Arthro beelined straight for a sandwich stand and bought two hulking subs. He brought the sandwiches to the docks and sat down on the worn planks to eat them. Taking a massive bite, he observed the docks. Everything seemed to be normal at first, but then he saw something weird. A merchant was sailing in to dock. At first he couldn’t figure out why he thought it was weird and then he remembered the rocky bottom. The ship had sailed through like it didn’t exist. It was then he saw the cause. The bottom of the boat was covered in sheet metal, just like the pieces he saw at the smith’s shop. Now it made a little more sense to him, the rocks were most likely not rocks, but coral. That’s why they snapped so easily with such thin sheet metal and that’s why they were able to grow back after so much traffic. He sat back, happy with himself. The grin didn’t last long, as a ship with the same metal bottom, but with a visible pirate flag came around the corner of the island. All at once the townspeople around him reacted. Everyone dropped what they were doing and drew their guns. A silence fell over the docks. At first he didn’t understand why they weren’t shooting, but looking further towards the stern, he noticed a group of kids tied up, with guns to their heads. His eyes widened when he recognized the man from the tavern holding one of the guns. The boat was now only a dozen meters away, but no one seemed to notice him. He took his chance and slipped into the water. OOC

"That's freaking robbery...half a mil for one damn gun! Don't tell me you do this to all your customers?" The man behind the gun counter visibly flinched as Gene's voice went a little higher then normal. He was half expecting to get killed by the outraged man in his store. "I'm....sorry...but..but t-t-times are s-s-sorta hard the-these days." Gene took a deep breath and calmed himself, he had to remember what these people have gone through. He reached deep into his pocket to pay the man, even though the price was ridiculous, it was the man's fault. "Here...sorry 'bout that, wasn't expecting to have to shell out that much for two of them. So..." Gene gave the man ::beli::1,000,000 for two double-barrel pistols, he examined them before holstering them were his old ones were at. His single shot pistols he put behind his back held in his pants. Gene looked the man dead in the eye, showing that he was deathly serious, about this next subject. "I have a question for you friend, and I hate to state it this way, but.... It would be in your best interest of good health to answer honestly. Who is in charge of keeping records on all bounty posters, and where can I find them?" The man who he was talking to paled to a ghostly white and started sweating beads like rain. He was visibly shaking from either fear of Gene or fear from someone else. "I..I can't...I mean..I don't know wha...what you're ta...talking about." Gene sighed regretfully as he drew one of his new guns and placed it in view of the scared man. "Now...I know all about you people and you know i'm a pirate, so please don't play with me.... And please don't tell me that you'll be killed if you talk, 'cause if you don't i'll kill you right here." The man gulped, he seemed to be in a tight situation with no escape. "It's the mayor....he..he handles all of it." The man broke down and collapsed behind the counter. Gene grabbed the pistol and ran out the shop, he thought that this mayor would be located somewhere deeper on the island, but a chance encounter changed that. He came across a fat, pompous, squat of a man waddling away from the front village. The way he was dressed was a little to nice to play the part of a village mayor, this sparked Gene's curiosity. The fat man made his way to a large building, it resembled a Marine prison, but lacked the marines, it just had rough looking men. He circled the building, looking at how and where the guards were positioned. The building itself was in falling state, there were cracks and holes all over the place. The foundation looked solid and all, but the top area was crumbling the most, and that could work for him. Gene really didn't like using his powers unless there was no other choice, but in the end it had saved him countless times. He waited for the guards to pass out of sight before going into full form to scale the wall. Lucky for him this was in the shadow of the sun, so it was a good bit darker and harder to see a black spider climbing above you. It took him maybe a ninety seconds to reach the top, once there Gene stayed in that form and slowly wiggled his way in. The place wasn't too clean, full of webs and mounds of dust, and also the fat man. He was talking to some snail thing, but he couldn't hear the fat man just the voice from the snail. "You've done good mister mayor...Heheh....our agreement still stands. We raid the place like 'BAD' pirates do , so you and your 'men' can come chase us away. You keep the villagers safe and we get some spoils, also from time to time help you with bounties. ......... Yes, we will be there in one hour, so be ready....'CLICK'" The fat mayor put down the snail, and plopped into a chair. He opened a drawer, pulled out a stack of paper, and began leafing through them. Finally he came to what he was looking for, a wanted poster of an ugly sneering man with rotted teeth and a scraggly mud-brown beard. "Why did I make a deal with this devil...being robbed while our future is held hostage." 'KNOCK.KNOCK.KNOCK.' "Mayor...its time we prepared." The mayor left the papers on the desk and hurried out the door, locking it as he left. Gene waited for a minute before moving down to the floor then resumed his human form. He had to hurry back to Anthro so they could get out of here, but first the posters. The top one was of that mud-beard guy, he had a 50,000 reward for him. "Hmm...Barlok 'Rotten' Gram...a small time pirate, but seems he has a brain." Gene ignore that and shifted the posters as quickly as he could, he discovered that most of the bounties caught here were low rank wannabe's. Nothing, what he was looking for wasn't here, so he once again climb the wall and out to the top. As he resumed form, he saw that the surrounding guards had left, that made his escape here a lot easier. He quickly found a way down and took off for the town, this wasn't going to be an easy place to escape from.Gene ran as fast as he could, from looking at the position of the sun he had about ten minutes before the pirates arrived, at least that is what he thought. Heading for the docks wasn't a tough thing, but he stopped dead when the skull flag came into view. "Shit they're early...well now there's no escaping this place without a damn fight." He wasted no time, as he ran down to one of the higher buildings getting the best spot to pick these dirt-bags off. He was pissed, the mayor was a coward, these pirates were scum, and he had to defend these damn hunters. Once he got to a good vantage point, Gene pulled up his rifle and took aim at one of the pirates. 'Kids as hostages is the lowest tactic ever invented. Time to takeout the trash.' He targeted the head of the pirate in the front, unfortunate for the tavern guy he was the pirate in front. 'BANG' OOC

Turkey, banana peppers, sausage, jalapeno, lettuce, tomato, pepper jack, all in a mayo-coated bun, slathered in oil and vinegar. The masterpiece of a sandwich sat on the docks, alone and abandoned. Arthro’s jaw tightened as he contemplated the injustice that had been done to him. There weren’t many things in this world that would drive him to cut loose such perfection, but a child in danger unfortunately was one of them. Arthro swam low to the sea floor to make sure he was unseen to his targets above. Weaving under and around the strange formations, he was able to discern that they were indeed coral. Small pores dotted their surfaces where he knew from experience that the polyps would come out at night to feed. Swimming under them revealed why they were so easy to topple. It seemed that the boats didn’t plow through them as he had previously thought. They just had no firm ground to attach to, so they were pushed aside. Shattered pieces from years before served as their foundations. The environment provided a constant cycle of new growth above, grinding the old growth below. Most of the ground up coral was washed onto the shore of the island. The coral was literally growing the island larger. He stifled his amazement as he neared his goal. The ship was small, likely only to be run by a mere four-man crew. He passed the bow of the ship, finding a place along the side that he judged to be closest to the hostages. He swam deep and then turned sharply upward, building momentum for an airborne assault. Just as he broke the water’s surface, a gunshot broke the silence. The more familiar of the captors, fell dead. The second one froze, but quickly overcame his surprise. He cocked his gun and aimed for the nearest child. It was a small blonde boy, eyes wide with fright. Arthro landed in between them just in time and took the bullet full on in the chest. He staggered backward a few steps and then straightened wincing at the small crack that had developed on his right pectoral plate. The pirate backed up and started to load another shot, but was too late. Arthro’s giant right hand enclosed the man’s entire torso, with only his hands and feet dangling free. Ignoring the man’s protests, he squeezed down hard, until he heard a satisfying crack. The man’s limbs went limp and Arthro quickly tossed him in the ship’s captain’s quarters to avoid the kids seeing his mangled body. Most of the children steered clear of him as he made his way to the helm, but the small blonde boy boldly walked right up to him. ”Hello, my name’s Paul, thanks for saving me. Tell your sharpshooter friend too.” It was only then that Arthro noticed the source of the shot. It was Gene! He was perched atop one of the higher rooftops, gun smoking. Arthro gave him a short wave before noticing the boy’s extended hands. He shook them and introduced himself. ”Hey, I’m Arthro, nice to meet you. As for my friend, he’s Gene. Let me get those hands untied alright?” He bent down and pulled them apart in one sharp tug. Paul spoke his thanks and then returned to help untie his peers. As Arthro maneuvered the ship up to a pier, most of the townspeople seemed unsure about what to do. The parents however, were less conflicted and ran straight to their respective offspring. The parents showered their children with questions and hugs, while the rest of the islanders dumbly replaced their weapons. After all, Arthro and Gene were supposed to be their targets. In the span of a few seconds they went from potential predators to indebted to their prey. Arthro, unsure on how to react, walked back to his place on the dock and proceeded to finish his sandwich. The poor bastard that was holding the gun to a kid's head in return, got a bullet in the dead and dropped dead. Gene noticed Anthro jump out the water and give the other scumbag the squeeze then toss him out of sight. As Anthro was freeing the captive kids he gave Gene a wave, Gene nodded to him as he reloaded his rifle awaiting anymore trouble. He shouldered the rifle and slowly made his way down to the pier, at least eighty percent of the people here still looked ready to fight. As Gene made his way to where Anthro was, some people where repeating thank yous, praising his shot, and looked at him with admiration. The rest looked like they were going through some moral crisis, even though they had put away their weapons. Once he got by Anthro he whispered to him. "I have something to tell you when we have privacy....trust me it's a surprise to die for. Going back to the tavern." Gene casually made his way back to the place they had stayed in last night, once he got there he sat down and ordered some food. He was brought a very hardy beef stew packed with veggies, a half loaf of warm brown bread, and a mug of good chilled ale. He was kinda surprised and his look betrayed his shock to the young woman. "We heard what your friend and you did for the children, this food is me and grandma's way of saying thank you." Gene smiled at her as she walked back to the desk, at least some people were grateful he thought, and then he happily dug in. After he ate and again left a kind tip on the table, he went up to the room and waited for Anthro. The two of them had a lot to talk about, and some plans may have to be made. |

OOC Arthro barely noticed Gene’s comment, his mind still in a daze from the sandwich he had just eaten. He regained his senses just in time to hear Gene’s footsteps fading into the distance. Today had been a weird, but overall good day. It consisted of an amazing breakfast, two free test tubes, the making of two amazing sandwiches, the inhaling of one of them, the defeat of a villain and the wolfing of the other. With the day’s analyzation done, he hopped up from the dock. Gene said he wanted to talk to him and it seemed important. He weaved his way back through the town. The villagers were still watching him, but this time it was more of a curious look than the predatory look of before. His mood lifted a bit, knowing tonight would be much safer than the night before. The door to the tavern was propped open for him, and he was greeted by an extra large bowl of beef stew. He picked to stew up from the small girl who had brought it to him and said his thanks. His stomach was still full from the sandwiches, but he understood that the little girl made the stew special; so he ate every last drop. He gave a generous tip and ascended the stairs to his room. He closed to the door behind him and sat on the opposite bed of Gene. ”So, what’s the news?” Edited by FreakOfNature, Sep 30 2010, 09:35 AM.

Gene was sprawled out on the bed waiting for Anthro to come back to the room they shared. When Anthro entered the room, he had his eyes closed, but was hold one of his new guns tight in his left hand. "Well... to put it quite bluntly...the damn mayor is a fucking sellout. I don't know all the details, but the leader of those pirates....who by the way looks like he fell into the sea of ugly. He's got that pudgy bastard by the throat, and we just killed two guys. So...think we in trouble yet?" He said that last part with a hint sarcastic humor. He moved into a sitting position facing the door, he still had that one gun in his hand. He would talk to Anthro for as long as he wanted to talk before preparing for bed. His preparations were keeping his guns close at hand, he had one single shot in his right hand aimed at the door under his pillow. One of the double-barrel guns was in his left hand by his side just in case. Whomever was stupid enough to bust in was going to get killed of severely wounded. Gene was in a light sleep, too tense to drop off fully that the knock on the door made him jump right out of bed. "Sirs...you must leave." OOC

Arthro listened to Gene as he pulled a large jug out of his knapsack. It was only three quarters full but it would do. He downed a gallon of it in two giant gulps. He replaced the cap before answering. ”Damn, I thought we were in the clear. Man, why do things have to get complicated? I was in such a good mood.” Arthro shoved his jug back into his knapsack dejectedly. A hurried knock on the door interrupted his intended sulk. ”Sirs...you must leave.” He got up slowly mindful that at this point anything could be a trap. Deciding his enhanced durability was better suited for the front lines than Gene’s, he moved towards the door. His hands grasped the knob, but he kept the door closed. ”Who is it? There was a faint bustle and murmur from behind the door and a familiar voice replied. ”Look, it’s me, your innkeeper. The mayor held a meeting tonight. He called you frauds. There are people out to get you! Some of the parents of the children you saved are here to help you. What am I saying? This is my Inn; don’t you close that door on me!” Arthro eased the door open to a crack to confirm her statement before opening the door all the way. He smiled broadly at the old innkeeper’s conflicted face. It was trying its best to look annoyed, but couldn’t keep from looking worried about their well-being. She gave him and awkward pat on the arm, before heading back downstairs. Out from behind of the small group, another recognizable face surfaced. ”Liam! Boy am I glad to see you! Tell us what the hell is going on.” The smith’s face formed into a pained smile. ”Well, I don’t know most of it myself, the mayor has been acting very strange lately. We’ve always known him to put the town before everything short of his own daughter. Anyway, we don’t really have time to puzzle over it all, they will come to attack sometime in the next hour. We have to get you two hidden and fast.” He scratched the back of his head nervously. ”Normally we would never tell outsiders of this place, but we’ve talked it over and decided to trust you, especially since apparently our enemies know of it anyway. Up in the woods towards the south side of the island we have a place that we send our children to protect them from the pirates that frequent here. Three of these men will lead you there. They each have alibis for not being a part of the hunt; I do not. Goodbye, and good luck.” Liam walked down the steps, leaving an eerie silence behind him. One of the men awkwardly stepped forward. ”Uh, let’s see. We don’t really have time for introductions; so follow me.” They walked out of the door, but instead of heading right for the stairs, they headed left to the end of the hall with the weird picture on the wall. They all set to work probing their fingers around the wall edge. ”Believe it or not, this town was actually founded by pirates. They used it as a base to restock and hide treasure. The whole town is dotted with various hidden passageways. After time passed, more and more of the pirates ended up settling and starting families. Wanting a way to provide a more stable household, the town decided to capture other pirates. Since they were so in tune with the thinking of pirates, they were extremely successful. It’s only been around four generations since then.” His hand caught on something behind the picture frame. He looked to his two comrades who also seemed to be grasping something and all at once they pulled. The entire wall swung outward, revealing a dark, rocky interior within. Their companions started through the door at a brisk pace. ”This’ll take us all the way to the beach, a little further south than the nursery. The tunnel hasn’t been used in years and only the old innkeeper vaguely remembered it.” Arthro ducked in after them and quickened his steps to match theirs. They walked for a surprisingly short time until the tunnel narrowed into a small cave opening. One by one, they crawled out of the hole. Arthro extended his hands above his head, but stopped in mid stretch. In front of them was the same pirate ship from before. Three shots rank out through the night. All of their companions fell dead. Looking down the beach in the direction of the sound, he saw a young girl, bound and gagged. She was tied to a post and walking in front of her were two men. One of the men, brandishing a large battle-axe, stepped forward. ”Ron and Jeremy were pushovers, killing them we can handle. Ruining our plans however, we cannot tolerate.” Techs Used |

Gene was shocked to see the old woman help them out like this, and surprised that Anthro was friendly with this old man too. In any case he was grateful that they were here to assist them and not making the mistake of capture. He listened to what they had to say, and his suspicions about that mayor was right. "Gutless sack of lard" Gene felt a little warmhearted that these people were willing to risk saving them, good deeds do payoff. Simple plan was to follow and hide till this was over he wished it didn't have to be like this. Gene grabbed his guns and stuff, then followed Anthro the the others, sneaking out wasn't his favorite idea, but living free was. After some twisits and turns the finally made it to a small open that lead into a cavern. Just as he felt like he could breathe again, Gene saw the ship and could actually feel the bullets hit the three poor villagers. He heard what they said about ruining their plans, and this didn't look good. The man with the axe looked familiar, with a sicken realization there was Barloc. "Crap its the captain, this is worse then I thought." The cave was big enough for that ship the fit easily in and there was a dock built on the rocks for easy load and unloading. Problem was Anthro and himself were in the wide open with nowhere to hide or take cover. "So, got any bright ideas, these two don't look so weak, and i think ugly there is really pissed." Gene was eying the place and nothing came to mind, this was a near hopeless situation. "Ok you two filthy troublemakers walk over here real slow , and dont'cha try nuttin' funny." |

OOC ”Bright ideas? It’s a little late for that.” His eyes fell on his three lost comrades. They each represented a child who now didn’t have a father. A muffled scream came from the direction of the girl. She frantically gestured for them to run. Arthro tried to give her the most reassuring look he could. ”It’s okay, we’ll get you out of there.” She quieted, but shook her head in disagreement. Her body slumped in defeat. Arthro cleared his mind of the sorrow around him and focused his rage on the man with the axe. He was barking out instructions and threats. ”Look, I’m warnin’ ya. Start walkin’. Arthro stayed put with a cold look of defiance across his face. ”Haha, I see how it is. I’m Barloc by the way. I hope you like pain ‘cause that’s all you’re gonna be feelin’.” The man was fast, much faster than Arthro had anticipated. He closed the gap almost too fast for Arthro to get his hands up. His axe feinted an overhead strike, before slamming the handle right in Arthro’s stomach. Arthro backpedaled, waving his arms to keep his balance. Barloc took advantage of the opening and released a flurry of strikes into his midsection. Arthro heard a sickening crack as a long fracture made its way across his chest. He fell flat on his back. He cursed his luck internally. The main plates that his abdominal muscles attached to were broken. He’d be lucky if he could still crawl. A panting Baroc approached him. ”Well you ain’t so tough now are ya? Baroc flipped his axe in his hands while circling Arthro. ”Any last words?” It was then that Baroc made a fatal mistake. Baroc’s stopped his circle and leaned down over Arthro’s face, bring his Axe up over his should to make the final blow. Arthro’s hands grasped his legs and squeezed hard. Sensing the urgency of the situation, Barloc hammered his axe frantically on the backs of Arthro’s hands sending tiny cracks spider-webing over his hands. It was too late; the bones finally gave way and Barloc fell onto the sand screaming. Arthro looked around to find he had fallen right beside the frightened girl. He reached a bloody hand over to her rope and tore it loose. ”Go get help and lots of milk please.” The girl nodded and ran into the forest. Techs Used Edited by FreakOfNature, Oct 6 2010, 03:33 AM.

And now there were three, the ugly captain with his axe was focused on Anthro, probably due to most humans' racial hate for Fishmen. Gene never held to that BS, Anthro maybe a Fishman, but he was a good guy and that's all that mattered in a person. The first guy must have been the first-mate, and this new one was just a lackey that was too pathetic to do anything by himself. "Your ugly friend is gunna be seafood after the cap'in finishes wit'em, so we get to play wit you...hahaha." Gene really didn't want to die here, at least not without wiping these rats out as well. The second guy wasn't too sure of the situation, so he was shaking a bit for some reason, and that was when the first-mate turned to yell at him. "Man up yer a cowa...." Gene took his opportunity to quickly draw and shot the second guy in the chest, the wound wouldn't kill him, but he was hurt bad. The other guy turned to see Gene drop the single shot flintlock and pull out the two double-barrels,he took aim with the rifle firing at gene. With quick reflexes he managed to dodge that shot by rolling to the right, and ending in a crouching position with both guns ready. The first-mate ducked out behind some barrels, as Gene opened fire with two shots barely missing him. Gene moved slowly still crouched down trying to flank him, by this time that rifle should be reloaded, this fight was turning into a damn shootout. The guy stood up to fire right when Gene roll jumped to caught him hiding, both fired at the same time. One of Gene's shots missed completely the other hit the rifle damaging it into uselessness. The rifle's shot caught Gene in the left leg, the pain made him drop the pistols in his hands. The pirate threw down the rifle and drew his knife to finish the job. Gene waited for him to get closer before going full form, and moving away to the other side of the ship. "That bastard has fruit powers, but a lot it gonna do him if all he can do is run like a spider." He went after the black spider he intended to stab it dead, but he made the mistake of getting right above Gene. Switching to normal form Gene grew to his normal size, and as he did that he brought up his fist and cracked the guy in the jaw. The guy went back a few feet, the blow rattled him and also ticked him off more. "That was a cute trick, but not good enough." He charged at Gene going to stab him, Gene tried to fight back but melee wasn't his best tactic. The pirate caught both of Gene's arms pinning them together then stabbed him in the stomach. Lucky for Gene the knife wasn't long so it didn't pierce anything vital, unfortunately for the other guy Gene had more then two hands. Reverting to hybrid form his two other sets of arms did some damage of their own. Grabbing the hand with the knife he wrenched it from the pirate and then grabbed his throat and slit it. Gene dropped the bleeding pirate and the knife then returned normal and collapsed on the deck clutching his wound, trying to impede the bleeding. "Hurry..." Was all he could say to the girl, before closing his eyes in pain. techs

Arthro opened his eyes at the sound of multiple footsteps and squeaky wagon wheels. ”But he said for me to bring it!!” “Look child, you know nothing of medical science, the man was obviously delirious. Now which two are they?” The girl’s face appeared upside-down in Arthro’s vision. ”I brought your milk mister fishman.” The older man appeared next to hers as he bent over Arthro. His grumpy demeanor was replaced with a look of stupidity. He was sure this wasn’t covered in medical school. Arthro cleared his throat without moving. ”I have a somewhat unique physiology. If you just give me the milk and some rest, I should be fine. I don’t seem to have any serious internal injuries.” The doctor dumbly nodded his head. ”You two, do what he says. I’ll tend to the other one. Two young men came forward and lifted the large barrel from the wagon. ”Open wide.” Arthro drank until both barrels where empty and then sank back into unconsciousness. Arthro opened his eyes, finding his situation unchanged. It was pitch black. Arthro experimentally ran his hands over his chest. His hands for one were still cracked, but none of the cracks went deep anymore. His stomach was still pretty bad, but it seemed his muscles would now be usable. The light from a lantern passed the window for just long enough for him to recognize the room’s interior. It was the inn from before! Arthro looked to the where he remembered the second bed was. ”Hey, Gene, you there?” |

Gene lost a good amount of blood, even though the wound wasn't life threatening, continued blood loss was. His hand wasn't doing the best of jobs and he felt very faint, so faint that he was hearing voices. "But he...... Look child, you....the man was obviously delirious" The voices sounded close by, but distant at the same time, it was like a dream and he couldn't quite wake up. He did feel some pressure on his wound area and being lifted up before all sound and feeling disappeared into blackness. He felt very weak and so very tired, but Gene didn't feel dead, unless that included a lot of pain and funny drugged side effects. He slowly opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was the ceiling. 'Funny looks the same as where my room bed was..' He blinked a few times as realization dawned on him. 'I am in the room...we won, but crap it hurts.' Gene moved his hand over the wound that was now stitched closed and bandaged up. He looked to where Anthro was as he heard his name. "I'm alive...somehow. I got stabbed, how'd you fare?" He was trying to be funny about the situation, but since they were alive that left the matter of the crooked mayor in the air. |

Arthro laughed at his friend’s enthusiasm. ”I won’t be fighting any time soon, but I think I can move alright.” Arthro gingerly moved up into a sitting position. Nothing really seemed to be hurting too much, so he stood up. There was a dull throbbing in his lower torso, but other than that, he seemed fine. ”Can you move? If we stay here, they’re probably gonna throw some dumb thank you feast. I never know how to act at those things. You up for just stealin’ a ship and getting out of here?” Arthro sighed in relief as his probing hands felt his backpack. He pulled it up from under the bed and inspected its contents to find everything untouched. ”Well, if you can go, I’m ready.” |
