Character Template [-----] Account Name: DarkthLink Basic Character Information Name: Jerik Kerrigan Nickname: JK-47 Age: 32 Gender: Male Race: Human Affiliation: Other Profession: ~Marksman The profession of Marksman provides sound experience and insight in calculating range, distance and wind elements and their impact on the path of a projectile. It is a general trait that applies to guns, slingshots, cannons, rifles and the like. People without this profession will have little to no luck in firing cannonballs where they are supposed to go under normal battle conditions. A marksman will be able to start with more ranged weapons than normal. They also do not need to pay upkeep for their ammunition. ~Assassin The Assassin profession gives stealth skills, the ability to move silently through areas without being detected. It also gives general poison knowledge, as well as skills with a small weapon such a dagger. An Assassin generally has little actual combat experience, since their victims don't fight back, and as such don't fare that well in a true fight. ~Inventor An inventor is a man or woman with knowledge in how various mechanical devices work. They have good insight in how blueprints work, and can upgrade weapons, build explosives and battle engines if they have enough materials. ~Smith A Smith is a man or woman who makes weapons and tools out of metal. Generally swords, since they fetch the best price, but it is in no way limited to this. Making cannons and parts for inventors is also part of their business, and they also get good knowledge within metallurgy. Position: Captain Physical Appearance Height: 7' 5" Weight: 450 lbs. Hair: Moderately long length, crimson. Eyes: Completely red. Clothing/Accessories: Shirtless, baggy, blood red pants with matching boots, and nothing else. General Appearance: Because he doesn't have a shirt, he is able to show off his great physique, earned from years of being a smith. He also has numerous scars from burns and from the experiments done on him by the Fourteen Whispers. In some spots there is skin missing, showing the red metal underneath. However, though his body is torn from his experiences he is still very muscular looking. Spoiler: click to toggle The Character Personality: Having just gained his freedom, his personality is kinda lacking. He is overly blunt, his speech patterns are awkward, and for some reason, he often refers non-cyborgs as "meatbags". He also has a weird affinity for death. He's had a few months to interact with people, but he still comes off as harsh. He's not quick to anger, but because of his affinity for death he does't mind finding a reason to fight. He is constantly looking for his past, and sometimes gains small glimpses of it. Hometown: Dragon's Hollow, South Blue. History: Deep in the outskirts of the South Blue, there live a group of scientists, doctors, and inventors, whose ultimate goal was to make the greatest cyborg ever created. Statistics showed that cyborgs had a better track record when compared to their fully robotic counterparts. Their reasoning and intuition was much more efficient when compared to robotic logistics. But of course, in order to make a great cyborg, a proper specimen was needed. Enter Jerik Kerrigan. He was a humble man, whose smithy skills were considered great on his home island. He was well built, sharp minded, and well liked among the townsfolk. He was also fairly young, in the middle of his prime. He married his childhood sweetheart, and fathered 2 small children, a young boy and a little girl. For him, life couldn't get any better. Unfortunately, his life would plummet into darkness. The group, calling themselves the Fourteen Whispers, drugged him one night, and whisked him away to their base, an island called Dragon's Hollow. There they gave him the name JK-47, JK for his initials, whereas 47 symbolizing what number of make he was. For five years they repressed almost all of his memories, save his smithing skills, and made excruciatingly painful tests on him. Then, one day, the Whispers caught news of a strong group of pirates nearby. Not wanting any interference, they called a nearby marine headquarters to protect them from possible invasion. Among these men was a marine with strong moral values. So, when he saw JK-47, he was horrified and disgusted. Without a second thought, the marine took off the restraints and sailed away from that evil place. Unfortunately for both of them, before the marine had found Jerik, he was undergoing some tests, thus most of his armaments were removed and his regular armored plating was replaced with iron. However, they also turned off his restraining programing and bomb, giving JK a chance toward freedom. JK and the marine continued to run for two months, but it soon became apparent that they were having little effect at shaking off their pursuers. In a last ditch effort to get them off of their tail, the marine suggested that they split up. Finding no other solution, JK-47 agreed, and left in a small boat. Within two days he came across a place called Traverse Island. After safely hiding his ship, he waited on the island to rejoin with the marine. But he did not return. After two months, JK-47 decided to leave the island. All he remembered was his skills and his name. He needed to know who he was and what he had done. Abilities and Possessions Combat: Preferes a heavily defensive combat technique. Like's killing people from far away, but not afraid to get up in someones face. Weaponry: Four single shot pistols. Ammo: Iron shells. Items: Beli: 2,720,000 Upkeep: SD Earned: 9 Stats:
Cyborg - Cyborgs are humans who have had part of their living tissue replaced with mechanical parts with the goal of enhancing their overall power. These modifications can alter their physical size, increase their defenses, grant them special means of transportation, powerful senses, and even turn them into living weapons. A cyborg's overall strength is determined by the level of technology used and the amount of money invested into their upgrades. Cybernetic upgrades are made by either converting a body part, adding an additional body part, improving an existing body part or adding weapons/features. The strength of the materials used, type and number of parts, maximum upgrade strength, and available weapons varies by technology level. Damage done to the inorganic components of a Cyborg must be repaired and will not heal naturally. Those who cannot perform the repairs themselves must see a trained mechanic between battles. In return for their enhanced powers, they must constantly consume some sort of fuel; the nature of this fuel varies from Cyborg to Cyborg. Cyborgs pay for their fuel and repairs at the end of each SL, this will be a cost of 15% of the sum of all cyborg parts. Basic Cyborg (1 Trait) - This is the most basic level of cyborg, and the most commonly encountered type in the blues. A Basic Cyborg begins with up to 3M Beli worth of modifications. Their bodies are made out of Iron and do not vary from their original size. They may have one concealed weapon per arm or leg, and one basic system per other appendage. Note that these weapons or systems are very basic. Appendages - 1M Beli/per Torso - 2M Beli Cybertronic Genius (1 Trait) – These inventors have studied their cybernetics especially well, and pay 20% less to upgrade their own Cyborg parts or those belonging to a crewmate. Jack of All Trades (1 Trait) – The character is able to master multiple skills, and has become adept at a number of things. This character gains two additional secondary professions. A character may not have Weapons Specialist, Marksman and Martial Artist. Forging Master (1 Trait) – All the experience the character has gained in making weapons allows them to produce them more cheaply. These smiths get a 30% discount for any weapons they make, and they are nice enough that this discount applies to their crew members as well.

Just one issue I see. Why was a marine being chased by fourteen scientists for two months? He has like, the world government and stuff behind him so I don't see why he would just run around and decide to split up instead of going to his superiors. |

Hmm... well, first of all, its wasn't the Whispers themselves chasing the two. It was a few of cyborgs that they had made beside JK. The whole point was to recapture him, but they ended up being tricked by the marine (the cyborgs were newer models without much field experience). Well, it's not like every one knows JK. In fact, only the Whispers know who he is. He has no markings to let anyone else know he is a cyborg made by the Whispers. The marine captain mentioned before was after the marine, not JK, who is being chased by his creators. And now, after 4 months, the Whispers are now basically watching and waiting for JK to make the first move, so technically no-one is searching for him right now. As for the world government, I was told that I wasn't allowed to influence the world govt., so I tried to work around that. Edited by DarkthLink, Sep 5 2010, 09:40 AM.

I was waiting for someone to mention that fact. Way to go shamma. Of course, the reason I am doing this is that I think it would be fun to rp someone like him.Well, I guess I could try to flesh out his pesonality, although it basically is what it says. Also, he just recently regained his freewill. Before he was a lifeless shell that obeyed the Whispers every whim. As for being a pirate, well... 1. I wanted him to be a pirate. 2. The way bounty hunters work on this site (no offense) isn't my cuppa tea. 3. Definitely not going to let him be a marine, he would end up turning into a pirate anyway. 4. Because of his programing he is a little blood thirsty, which is closer to a pirate or bounty hunter than a marine. Back when he was under the Whispers control it was focused toward his targets, but now it has no target whatsoever. 5. From what little recon he has done, he figured that being a pirate would probably be best, seeing as they don't worry to much about rules and regs. Well that does make sense. However, in a SL I'm going to make in the somewhat near future he finds out how he became a cyborg and who made him that way (to some extent). That's when he knows he's going to be a pirate. So, do you suggest that I make him other, then make him a pirate after this specific SL? What do you think?

Cyborg is a trait specific to a character, regardless of race. Jerik is a human, and that should go under race. PM me when that is done. Jerik also has two more pistol, or one more rifle starter weapon slot, for taking Marksman. |

Love the effort put forth with Clothing/Accessories and General Appearance so much so I want to see more.
Zero, Zero GG Why's his history kinda skip ahead to him being a 'humble man' while we don't hear much about how he is where he is up to said point. It's tiny, but ya know.
