OOC Brenden couldn't help but laugh as he walked down the street, trying to find witnesses to question about the whereabouts of the Darsis Cain fellow that he was hunting at the moment. The few posters he had were being held in his right hand at the current moment, as he still walked along the invisible line that was keeping him going in the right direction for so long, or at least where he thought the right direction was to go. He passed by a numerous amount of stores, before he heard a bit of crying coming from the direction where he was heading at the current moment. Hearing this, and automatically assuming that the crying was due to the Bounty-Head, Brenden's line began to disappear as he began to take off into a run, passing a numerous more amount of stores, before passing by an ice cream one that for some reason only served one flavor from what the Doctor had heard, which he made a note of to stop by after investigating this cry of despair. He hoped that the flavor was dark blackberry with blood red sprinkles to get on it, or better yet lizard-gut flavor just for the taste of it. A doctor could dream though, couldn't he? And if not well... He could always pretend that it was that flavor and close his eyes or something if it was something stupid like Chocolate. A few houses past the shop though the Deranged Man found two children sitting on the side of the road, crying at the current moment. One would expect this from kids with clothing that wasn't the most well done and highly kept clean clothes, but that was what the two children on the road were wearing when Brenden got to them. Each one of them were bawling their eyes out, getting tear stains on their clothes that they would probably throw out that night when they got home in exchange for a whole new wardrobe that their parents had people go out and buy for them because they were too lazy to go out and buy them themselves like good parents would but they had considered it before realizing that they had too much money to do stupid little things like that when they could be spending it rolling around in their money like they were doing at this very instant more than likely. Any-who, Brenden, being new to the whole 'questioning people for information' thing of the West Blue, figured that the best option at the moment was to use subtlety while trying to get information about what had happened from these two children that were in front of him. Taking one of the posters in his left hand from his right, he bent down to the two kid's level before holding the poster out before him. Now, being the total kid-knowledge person that Brenden was, and never having played games with other children as a child or even interacted with children around this age before from another island in the North Blue or since he had come to the West Blue, he knew exactly what to say to kids that he needed to get vital information from: "Did this man touch you in the bad place?" Now the kids did indeed stop crying like Brenden had hoped they would, though they did the exact opposite than what the Doctor had planned on them doing. He expected them to say that the man had tortured them for a little while earlier that day, before leaving them as they were in the street, and now it was the Doctor's heroic duty to apprehend the man and bring him to justice. But the two kids just looked at Brenden before standing up, and taking off down the street. Now, being the brilliant man that Brenden was, he assumed afterwords that the kids had run because the picture had brought back bad memories of the man that had hurt them so deeply. And now, with that information, he believed he should go and get some of the Lizard-gut flavored ice cream like he had wanted to. But now he wanted to do something else to walk into the store, as he stuffed the posters into the pockets of his jacket, before looking down at the ground and started walking towards the Ice Cream parlor, on his way to his reward. He had only glanced at the number of buildings that had come between the Parlor and where he had been, but it seemed to not matter, as the Doctor quickly found the place before walking inside, still glancing at the floor as he had somehow figured out how to open the door without looking at it much. With the white, clean floors, it seemed that the Doctor was now staring at a mirror-like reflection of himself as he walked, grinning madly while he looked at himself, as he seemed to follow the right direction to the counter where the people were ordering ice cream, as he had almost ran into the bodies of the other two pairs of feet that he had seen on the ground as he walked. Being careful not to run into them, or slip on part of the ice cream that had fallen on the floor of the one with the larger feet, Brenden made his way to the counter, before finally looking up at the man behind it, who seemed to be waiting on Brenden's order at the moment, before he would more than likely wait for other customers to come in or have the people next to him pay for their ice cream. "I'll have two scoops of your finest stuff," Brenden said, grinning madly still, as he had yet to pay attention to what color the ice cream actually had been in the case. In any case, the man bent down and get the two scoops for the ice cream in seemingly record time, before handing the cone to the Doctor. At first, Brenden was a little hesitant to take the cone, seeing as both imagination images of what he expected it to look like were gone now, but still he took it, and took a large bite out of it, trying to figure out what flavor it was while doing so. It sure didn't seem like it was the Lizard-gut flavor he was hoping for... |

The Nohzer teen patiently watched as the large man went to order for the both of them, lining up behind the small queue the ice cream parlour had developed; an oddity really considering the lack of choice Benjamin Cohen offered in the long run. Stranger still was the manner in which 'Mr. Darsis' approached his task, seeming to take her words quite seriously as he paused to examine each of the identical tubs. They were all quite the same; Olivia could tell by the distinct scent each ice cream scoop that passed her gave off. The parlour could operate off one giant tub in theory but the girl held her tongue in case the suggestion offended the artist's pride. Relationships based on negative emotions were always the worst to record! Olivia remembered her manners and moved to the side of the parlour, allowing new customers a direct route to the queue, whilst those served to exit with equal ease. She noticed then, an empty sitting booth next to the window and headed over to sit down. The table was clean white, much like the rest of the parlour, though the seats were definitely made of leather and a more obvious shade of cream. She took up one side of the booth, resting the closed umbrella across her lap for the time being and looked for Darsis again. The flow of consumers was stemmed by the intense decision the working class hero was making, the young girl watching him battle the task with surprising care. The longer he took, the wider her grin spread, gratified entirely by the stranger called Darsis. Her expression slipped upon hearing a metallic sound, as if someone had dropped a coin, resonating from her subject of interest. She looked to his feet, noticing no loose change and raised her eyes to inspect further only to realise the heavily garbed man had nearly finished his task. As he turned to her with an ice cream in each palm, she picked up on the change to his appearance. A chain with a ring round his neck, something that would have set off a flurry of thoughts if not for the ice cream he offered. Olivia accepted the distraction, waving to the tall man so he could see her from across the parlour. She took the gift once he had sat on the opposite side, holding it close to her mouth with her left hand. She refrained from licking it straight away, sniffing at it instead. It smelled like every scoop that had passed her in the store; the whole establishment held a lingering vanilla smell, though by being up close to a real specimen; the Nohzer was able to search it more thoroughly. The quality of the mixture was dominant, the ice cream smelling just as real vanilla should, a soft and almost milky scent to it. Yet the aroma did not appease her preference straight away, the girl was perhaps just a little fussy about what she ate due to her earlier years. Strawberry was still better on the Oliscale. Stalling, Olivia observed her mysterious partner and his approach to the treat. It was far more direct than hers, but with good reason; despite the cool conditions of the store, his ice cream appeared to be melting rapidly. The teen raised one side of her brow at once, perplexed by the stark difference of temperature at only a small table’s length. At once the Nohzer girl arrived on an answer; her benevolent stranger was a little hot under the collar! It suggested that her smile and relaxed composure had failed to settle with the enigmatic man, creating an awkward situation that made him uneasy. Olivia was struck by instant disappointment, believing the fault to be for own, of course a shy stranger was not going to be any good at leading conversation! The teen planned to make up for her failings by taking command, only to be trumped by the man suffering the most at the current moment. “Ships?” The young girl muttered when Darsis laughed, confused by the seemingly random subject change. She presumed the laughter to be born out of desperation to rid the awkward air. It hurt her to see him try so hard and only create another barrier, she knew very little about vessels themselves, only able to hazily distinguish by value of certain parts. To judge the worth of a whole ship was quite difficult for her nose; the sheer size and often blend of materials making the task arduous at best. “Oh...” The Nohzer girl was caught off guard by the follow up humour, displacing her natural reaction with a forced giggle to ease their discussion. The forced nature of the laughter was quite inconspicuous, experience lending its uses so she could tail off without the bounty hunter being suspicious. She was mildly delighted with his save though, relaying back to her natural self with a smile and some words. “Being charitable in your time of need is a sign of great kindness, Mr. Darsis.” The teen chirped, turning the cone in her hand to admire the frozen treat some more. “And we could be more than just random strangers too, there’s an art show in the northern...” Olivia’s suggestion trailed off once she noticed the odd manner in which the rugged man had paused, transfixed by the ring that hung from his neck. “...Mr. Darsis?” She asked, trying to dispel whatever had come over him, though she too was taken by the spell of the ring. What did it mean? She knew several reasons why people wore such items, most were sorrowful though some happy! Had the charitable, working class man lost someone dear to him, like his mother or perhaps even wife? Had he broken up with his beloved due to a strained relationship? Was it a one-sided love where he had been turned down upon proposal and wore the ring as a weight on his soul? Maybe he was a hopeless (and somewhat desperate) romantic who carried a ring everywhere in case he met ‘the one’(which put her in an awkward position), or he had made a promise to a girl in a far away land and the ship was his method to reach her! The Nohzer girl squealed in her mind at such an amatory tale, before considering more sensible options. Perhaps he was tasked to deliver the ring to a king of some sort... or maybe the ring was too small for his finger. Olivia blinked, the spell broken by the point. “Ice, ah?” She had left her ice cream unmarked for too long, resulting in the excess of the bowled scoop dripping down the side of the cone. She made a more dignified move to stop it from dropping any further, using a free finger to gather up the flow of ice cream and dab it on the top of her sphere of vanilla. With disaster averted, the teen felt she needed to give a reason for her neglect of the gift. “Vanilla isn’t really my favourite.” She explained, taking the first solitary lick of the cold treat and passing a small smile. “Its nice, but I really prefer strawberry! Mr. Greenfield down the street does every flavour imaginable so he has it but the taste isn’t that great and...” The Nohzer girl drifted off again, the ring at fault once more. She struggled to tear her eyes from it, the reasons behind it being far too enchanting or tragic to ignore. “...why do you have that ring?” She asked, her expression changing almost instantly. Despite her enthusiasm about relationships, asking a near stranger about personal things made her just a little bit bashful when she was being genuine. The teen lowered her gaze to the table, using the ice cream cone to shield herself from the taller man’s eyes. “Its just... are you too big? Or were you close and...” Olivia muddled herself as she drew out the question, unable to raise her face now that it had been asked. "Please tell me." |

“...why do you have that ring?” Darsis looked over at the small girl, the question was not unforeseeable but the manner in witch it was asked shocked him. It was like she had the same strange draw to it that Darsis did, but that would just be stupid, it was not like she was his wife to be. Darsis felt very unlike himself in that he was hesitant to talk about it off the cuff like this. “Its just... are you too big? Or were you close and...” What the hell did this kid want to know for? Its not like he had to tell her. The ring was his weight to carry, and he did it for himself, not for others to look at and make of it what they would. Here he was, in West Blue, a place he had never been before, sitting at a booth in an Ice Cream parlor with a young women, and she wanted to talk about the one thing he did not like talking about. "Please tell me." Darsis rubbed his eyes with his hand, the left one right through his patch. She just wanted to know, badly it seemed, and his nature would have him tell her, even if it hurt him some. Darsis reached into his shirt and pulled the ring out again. Darsis looked at it again, and found it hard to stop himself from drifting off into its world again. He took off his hat and placed it next to him in the booth then slicked back his hair. He pulled the chain around his head and held out the chain so Oli could take it. The weight that was no longer on his shoulder was shocking, mostly due to the fact it was never apparent to him that it was there, until now that it was gone. Darsis almost forced it from her hand as soon as it was out of his. He was able to stop himself, but it was not an easy thing, and must have clearly shown on his face. The girl was the first person other then himself, and Rika who had touched it. It was almost odd to him how much the small piece of gold had become a part of him. "Well..." He found that the seemingly long and accordingly awkward silence had stretched out over a few minuets, but it had only been about twelve seconds. "Well, that was the wedding band the women I was supposed to marry..." He blew out some breath making a 'che' sound and rocked his head back. It was not easy to tell people, this was so odd as he had thought it was something he could live with now. Rocking his head back so he could look at Oli, he again slicked back his hair, this time it stayed, he hand a little damp from sweat. "Well, my master was a son of a bitch, rock eating old man who lived on the side of a mountain. I lived with him for a few years, and in that time I grew up some. Rika was the first other person i had seen. Under the circumstances you could see why I was attracted to her..." Darsis looked at the small girl. "Or do you..." "Anyway, she was Kiji's grand-daughter, and was the catalyst that got me off the mountain. Kiji trusted my further real world training to her, saying he was to old to be running around the vast seas with an annoying brat who could not even see how small he was." Darsis now had a slight grin and was holding his face in his hand, shacking it a bit. It was just some nerves habits people have, but it was still odd to watch. "Well, Kiji may have been right, I was a snot nosed kid. I almost got killed no more then two days off the mountain. Had it not been for Rika, I would be dead, and you would not have your not favorite ice cream..." "Anyway, I liked Rika from the first time I met up with her, but... Well, I did not make a great first few impressions, but after some time, I found she liked me the same way I liked her. From that point things were good, we went around the seas doing whatever..." Darsis could feel he was talking a lot, all by himself, talking in some kind of mono-log. However, it was a lot more like he was getting this out of himself. It was like the flood gate had been let go, and no one was stopping it. "Well, she was a wonderful women, but we ended up getting blind-sided. I got this..." He pulled his eye patch aside showing the relatively normal looking eye, with the horrid scaring around it. He put the eye patch back. "I keep the patch on as people tend to look... My back is even worse, you can read it..." He rubbed his shoulder. "Oh! there was also this." He pulled the sleeve up, showing the scar on his wrist. "I want you to see what was done to me, and to tell you what was done to her was so much worse. She was attacked, and when I found out, I killed the man who did it. For killing him, I ended up like I am now." He took his hat held it in his left hand, waiting to put it on. "Any way, she is still alive, but she is trapped in her own head. I hope that some day she will get better, and until that day I will hold onto that." Darsis held out his hand for the ring. |

Brenden quickly devoured the ice-cream that wasn’t the Lizard-Gut flavor like he hoped it was, though it was food for him so the Doctor knew that it wouldn’t be a complete rip-off anyways. So as he was walking to the register, he finished off the ice cream in his hand before pulling out the desired money to pay for his ice cream cone. Turning around, he licked the ice cream off of his gloves so that they wouldn’t become all sticky later on. ”I better go ahead and run to go find that man I was looking for earlier.” He said, thinking he was remembering the name of him right, though with his terrible memory he wasn’t completely sure about it. ”Your head is mine Dorkus Kayne! Your acts against the children will not go unheeded!” He yelled out, running out into the streets looking for the man that would make himself a slight money-banks man when he would catch him. He just hoped that Dorkus would be easy to take down without trying really hard. OOC |

"Almost there!" Virgil's hotblooded and excited voice could be heard through the nearby streets as he rushed up the side of volcano. Many people in town had warned him to stay away from it as they weren't entirly sure if the volcano was still dormant. It hadn't erupted in a while, but with it spewing smoke like that one could never be too sure. There was also the fact that Virgil being an outsider and already showing off how brash he could be, the people feared he'd go up there and do something stupid. It was difficult to think of what he could possibly do that would end up biting them in the ass in the end. On the opposite end of this spectrum however, some actually cheered for the guy on his journey. If he went up there and died due to the magma or even the smoke being released then his anguish would be the perfect muse for their art. Death by volcano wasn't something these people got to use often seeing as most visitors were smart enough to stay away from it or just not come to the dreadful island to begin with. Some could already be seen rushing into their homes to grab supplies and binoculars and await this man's fate. This information was pretty much unknown to Virgil. His head was somewhere completely different at the moment as his body was pushing him with autopilot. It was near impossible for him to focus properly when so close to his goal. Time was running a bit short, but at the pace he was going there was no way he would end up late for this fight. The closer the new bounty hunter got to the top of the volcano, the thicker the smoke became and the more difficult it was for him to breathe. Virgil was using his shirt as a makeshift air filter, but that obviously wouldn't do much good. This all simply culminated into the fact that he'd need to finish this quickly and get the hell out of there. Though the next issue was visibility, the thick black stuff lingering in the air was pretty damn hard to see through as well as burning his eyes. Virgil simply smiled in light of all the things he had going against him at the moment. The odd weren't on his side, but that just this more fun. This would ony make this battle much more interesting and would be another interesting tale in the story of his life. Reaching the top at last, his eyes scanned the area best he could. "There had better be damn lava beasts up here." |

The memories she was intruding on were likely to be sensitive ones. A ring upon a chain was symbol of multiple meanings, among them a few of great intensity and as a romantic day dreamer; the Nohzer teen was convinced the rugged man's reasons would be ones of passion rather than rudimentary or dull. She regained her nerve and observed him closely with her rosy eyes, her pupils contracting into firm squares to keep track of each twitch, reaction or emotion her subject experienced. Actions at points like these fascinated her, all the more now as she became increasingly certain that Mr. Darsis was going to tell her everything. The girl restrained a tentative grab for her notebook in preparation for the truth, to scrawl down words would probably put off the quiet knight before he could sow his tale. The Bounty Hunter removed his hat. Olivia-Meredith was a girl who read people. It was part Nohzer upbringing and part natural intuition, she understood the progressive signs the former stranger had been making. First, he had unbuckled his high collar, then tipped up his hat and now he removed the thing altogether; he was opening up his shell to her! It was a move of trust, the Nohzer girl presumed, an action she could not replicate directly because her already open garbing. Instead she responded with a change in posture. The teen had been sitting with her hands on her lap before the gunslinger had arrived with ice cream, her back firm against the booth seat, even after receiving the gift she had kept her arms off the table and the treat low. Now she leaned in a little, relaxing herself despite pale cheeks being flushed red and placing one arm on the table with the other propped on it by the elbow. The ice cream was forgotten in her palm, the vanilla aroma replaced by the awkward stench the man opposite her was excreting. His revealed brow was lined with small droplets of sweat, made more obvious by his slicked back black hair; it was a sight she was trying to stop by calming the situation. Perhaps that was not always possible. “Oh...?” The serial-shipper was caught off guard by the gesture Mr. Darsis made next, removing the item he seemed to cherish so much and offering it to her. Olivia was hesitant to take the precious object, she could tell it was more of a struggle for the man opposite to hand it to her... it was token of trust that could not be declined. Sluggishly the teen raised her free hand to grasp the necklace, allowing the male to release his grip before pulling it closer for examination. The steel chain was simplistic, a trinket that could be bought from any market stall. The ring was different, real gold according to her yellow nose and engraved with words she could not read straight away. The ice cream was in the way, Olivia discarded it on the table for the time being, turning the attention of both hands to the band. She held it to light from the chain, not comfortable with the idea of touching the ring straight away; she manipulated the necklace with her spare hand to read the engraving. ’My soul in your hands’ So it was?! The girl turned her interests away from the ring when the man broke the intermittent silence, still holding it in the same manner but her expression had changed. She was in awe now, his first sentence confirming what she had anticipated.... to an extent, the troublesome ‘supposed’ opening up a whole new hamper of speculative theories for the Nohzer girl to revel in as Mr. Darsis spoke the truth. She liked life stories. She really just liked stories in general, particularly the real kind rather than elaborate fables. Her own life had felt caged in upbringing, learning to become a model Nohzer girl from since she could remember. Lesson upon lesson upon lesson to sculpt her into what was suitable, even when she had left Hirudin for Rookwood Academy, the teen had felt under constraints of rules still. Hearing the more lax lives of others was soothing, wonderful and perhaps inspired just a little jealousy in her. Mr. Darsis’ rugged appearance suggested his life had been harsh too, but likely for opposite reasons, he struck her as a free man who perhaps unfortunately strolled into dangerous situations. An old man who ate rocks was close to sparking her imagination, common sense intercepting with the notion of ‘metaphor’. “Rika...” Olivia whispered, hearing the name of the soul the male had intended to carry... and vice versa she supposed. Her awed expression was broken when the story teller questioned her understanding, he was right to some extent. Olivia had spent her youth surrounded by other glamorous people like her, all pampered to become what the elders wanted. To live a solitary life with just an old man for company and then to finally see someone else... perhaps Mr. Darsis had jumped at the chance to hook up with this ‘Rika’ regardless of how she acted or looked? Suddenly she was doubted the authenticity of the relationship, had it broken apart for just that reason? It was not the case. Rika and Mr. Darsis had travelled together according to the rugged male, his tale became less hesitant, more immersive as the teller himself did quite the opposite. Olivia watched as he gradually bought up his hands to cover his face, leaving only the mouth free to prevent muffling his voice and maybe, just maybe, to allow the world to see his grin. It was warming to see, the Nohzer teen believing he was enjoying the experience just as much as she was. Words like therapeutic or solace sprang to the front of her mind as Mr. Darsis spoke off his passing of apprenticeship from old, rock eating Kiji to the youthful, beauty Rika and their journeys of danger and love... The male had a habit of shattering her awe. This time, with a simple flip of an eye patch to reveal... a normal eye... surrounded by grotesque scars. Whilst Olivia did not portray her revulsion outwardly, something was struck at the back of her mind; it grew eventually into pity as the male went into detail on his wounds, stating his back had been similarly mutilated before showing her his arm; it was far less shocking than the eye but all the same, Olivia retreated just a little, regretting her little intrusion into Mr. Darsis’ world. Her jealously had all but abated for the time being, freedom was not worth such injury to the pampered Nohzer teen. That the ring she held by the chain belonged to a woman who had suffered much worse... the golden item seemed heavier than she remembered, had something been attached to it whilst she was not looking? She dare not check. The girl had been staring bashfully at the floor when first inquiring about the nature of the ring, having learned the truth, she was again staring towards the floor but her cheeks were no longer flushed. It was a terrible way to end a story of romance; the bride struck down by bandits and left like a vegetable, yet to wake to the man who had dedicated himself to her! It was a tragedy, something she had no desire to record in her little notebook straight away. The returning of the ring was far less eventful than the taking, Olivia dropping the weight back onto Mr. Darsis’ shoulders as quickly as possible. Such a downer put her out of sorts, encouraging their ritual silence whilst the male put on his wedding band and hat, Olivia watching the ice cream melt beside her arm on the table. “...I hope she gets better soon.” A desperate mumble aimed at dispersing the glum scenario. Regret of knowing plagued her, but the teen thought past it, really the man opposite her was suffering more for telling! What untold misery had she resurfaced by making him rehearse such dour tales? She could not let the air settle like that! “She will get better soon!” The Nohzer female raised her tone, determined to lighten up the heavy mood that had taken their booth by storm. The ice cream did not matter because she had a plan to make it all better! “And when she wakes up, you’ll be there!” Olivia added, standing up suddenly from the padded seat. In one hand, she held her umbrella against her shoulder, with the other open for Darsis to take. “And you’ll be able to give her the best of life because we’re going to get you that man power and get your group up and running!” She declared, beaming now that she was on a roll with the speech. She certainly was not taking no for an answer either! Confidently the girl stepped out from the booth, using the hand that had been outstretched for Mr. Darsis as a means to grab his arm and begin to force the issue. It didn’t matter that he was bigger... scarier... stronger... she was going to do this! Her attempts were in vain really, unless he complied, they really were not going anywhere. But she tried none the less! “Come on! Right now! We’ll go find them, make your group giant... and rich... and respected!” The usually well mannered girl was nearly shouting in a public place now, it was only on such rare occasions where she forgot such basic rules as using one’s inside voice when inside. But really, it didn’t matter! Her newfound favourite stranger needed cheering up and she could help! She was trying to drag him to the door when she remembered something important. “And... what do you do exactly?” Olivia asked, unable to recall exactly what Mr. Darsis had claimed his profession of choice to be, if he had mentioned it at all. It caused her to pause, creating a lapse in her enthusiasm that released the gunslinger from her grasp momentarily. How did she recruit for an unknown organisation? What did he mean by man power? Office workers? Factory workers? Fighters?! Was Mr. Darsis really a underclass hero, one of the common people who fought for other common people? A man with a tragic past fighting the system? Did the government blindside him and Rika? Was this all a giant conspiracy? Was she going to play a big part in this epic romance?! The possibilities were endless! ...until Mr. Darsis actually answered. |

“...I hope she gets better soon.” Darsis was touched that the young women cared at all about his problems and that she felt for Rika. He was about to voice his thoughts when the young girl spoke up again. “She will get better soon!” The raise in tone and her sudden determination that Rika would get batter made the tall man feel much better about the whole thing himself. She would get better and he would wait for that day no matter how long it took. He knew she would wake up, and when she did, he would be there. “And when she wakes up, you’ll be there!” The girls words mirrored his feelings and she seemed to be getting caught up in her own spiel. She got up and he was a bit overexcited with herself. She put out her hand for him to take and got up as if to lead him to the bedside of his love. As if she would pull him from the inside of the ice cream shop and fly him to her side. it was a nice thought but he knew he had things to do before he could see her. “And you’ll be able to give her the best of life because we’re going to get you that man power and get your group up and running!” That was a bit... Odd. It almost sounded as if she wanted him to take over the world. Or, at least a good portion of it and make the world Rika can live in. Well, that or she had plans to help him find the man power he needed to get his group up and running. What ever she had in mind, it was a very odd statement from some one he had met no more then twenty minuets ago. “Come on! Right now! We’ll go find them, make your group giant... and rich... and respected!” She said this as she got out of the booth and started pulling on his arm. She wanted him to come, to follow her lead and to gain the benefits of her leadership and skill trade. What skills or ability she had was yet to be seen but he would not send help away, even if it was a teenage girl with a yellow nose. She was attempting to drag him to the door, something he was a bit slow in following. “And... what do you do exactly?” Darsis stopped the already slow forward progression Oli had been making by dragging him. Was this girl mad? She had formed her whole idea of helping him on a story of his past that did not bother him so much any more. He wished Rika was here with him, but the past was set in stone, and smashing the stone would bring down his life that was built on it. Rika would one day be at his side again, but for now, this girl was here. Darsis did not know what she would be able to do for him but he felt he should watch out for her. At least as long as he was in her company. "Well... I at the moment, it is a small group of bounty hunters but the true ideal is a mercenary group that takes care of the things the government deems unimportant or impossible to fix." Darsis let him self be pulled again, the tapping of the girls shoes picking up in pace. They left the shop and moved around the streets. Darsis did not know where they were going, but the girl seemed to know the town better then him, who had been there all of three hours. Thinking back on it, Darsis wondered where the other one he had come here with had gone to. He had yet to see any of the local talent come after him, or any sign Virgil had done what Darsis had asked. Where was that man... |

OOC God, this town was boring. Celia had been here for two weeks already, trying to find some worthwhile bounty heads to track down and take to a Bounty Office, but instead all the people she found out were in the town were hobos who were overstaying their welcome on richer people's properties, and the occasional critic artist that was making fun of people with artwork that was so terrible, that they had to call out the local police on them. With all that going on, Celia had lost her feel for Bounty Hunting on this island, and he was hoping to leave within the next few days to actually hunt someone down that would give her some Beli in her pocket. There was one good thing about this town, however, and that was the volcano, along with a small little legend about it. She had heard from some weirdos in town that a lava golem lived at the center of the volcano, but would only come out if the person peed within the volcano, because apparently to any creature getting peed on makes them pissed off beyond belief. But, to the young Bounty Hunter, it was something to do on this god awful island, and so she was headed to the top of the volcano, taking her time so that if the thing did appear there, she could kick its ass. But, if it didn't appear well... She could go hunting down the people who had told her about the volcano myth in the first place. The only problem about the matter was the fact that well, women had a harder time peeing than males did, so to solve this problem Celia whipped up a batch of lemonade to fix it, since well, it does look like pee after all, at least to the Chef anyways. So with the bottle of lemonade on her belt, Celia continued her journey up the Volcano, her swords on her hips clinking slightly as she went. "This better damn be well worth my time." She muttered to herself as she went, starting to reach the top of the Volcano where the smoke was starting to jut out more and more, though luckily it was going more upward than overflowing the sides of it, but it was still pretty bad, and as such Celia twisted her hood around to use as a makeshift air filter. "Now, where the hell is the top..." She muttered to herself, her left hand reaching for her belt to pull out her bottle of lemonade which would act like normal pee for this adventure. As she was looking around, though, she did spot something through the smoke. Automatically assuming that the thing that she saw was the Lava Monster, she used her right hand to pop the tab off of the lemonade bottle before she took up a throwing pose before chucking the bottle as far as she could throw it, though she wasn't sure how far it would go, though the lemonade inside certainly was spilling out. "Let's do this!" She told herself, using her right hand to take her the handle of her longer scimitar before she started dashing around the side of the circular roof of the volcano, trying to get a good jump onto the beast before it would get a jump on her, though her visibility was certainly taken down at this point. |

Maybe his ears were playing tricks on him, but Virgil could've sworn he heard another person's voice up here. It was pretty difficult to tell with sound of volcanic lava bubbling beneath him, but regardless, he decided to ignore it. Now, thinking back to what he had been told in town, there was something that was required before the golem would arise from its slumber and battle him. It was just on the tip of his tongue, but the bounty hunter just couldn't really put a finger on what it was. Hm, sing a song? No. Rain Dance? No. Satanic ritual? No." He began to tap his index finger to his chin though Virgil's ears managed to pick up on something moving. There was the quickly repeating sound of rocks crunching beneath someone's or something's feet. Maybe the monster was already on the move and after him? Knowing he couldn't take any chances, Virgil got into a battle ready stance. Coming out from the smoke ahead of him was something rather slender, but a mix of red and black in color. In the bounty hunter's mind, the red and black was likely a mixture of molten rock and lava, meaning this was indeed the beast he had been searching for. he had expected it to be much larger, but hey, he'd take what he could get. "You wouldn't believe how long I've been waiting for this!" He steeped forward and prepared to punch, but at the last moment noticed more defining features as the figure got closer. Red hair, skin, clothing! Quickly rolling to the side the bounty hunter narrowly avoided whoever it was running around the mountain like some kind of lunatic. Getting back to his feet at this point however, he began to give chase. "Hey, wait up. I need to ask you something!" Seeing as he still had a bit of time to spare before sunset, Virgil decided his time could be well spent finding out more information. He had a feeling this person was here for similar reasons as him. That, or commit suicide or something. |

((Most of my drafts are done, so able to post.)) The initial exhilarating rush that had accompanied the idea of helping the rugged stranger’s fairy tale was starting to fade, the golden mirth abating as the young nohzer became more aware of her surroundings and her quite outrageous actions! Several codes of etiquette had been broken in quick succession; rules that had been planted into her since she was a toddler. First, her inside voice had not been used, she had shouted in a public place without concern for the harmony of others! Secondly, she had invaded the comfort zone of someone she had met only recently, grabbing him by the arm. Whilst not a taboo in her own culture, respecting the boundaries of personal space seemed to be important in foreign lands, a respect she had further desecrated by forcefully dragging the man! It was little wonder that he halted their progress when Olivia had paused to question his goals, she was being outright rude! Realisation ushered in a new burst of feeling, one equally exhilarating as before though for separate reasons. The nohzer teen had betrayed her creed for the sake of another and exhibited real reactions! Her face flushed red in embarrassment, hearing the words of Mr. Darsis but not embracing their meaning straight away, she instead opted to continue her utterly uncouth actions by pulling the stranger outside; though this time he seemed more willing to follow. Once they were back on the ash ridden streets of Karaoke, Olivia released the scruff of sleeve she had been clutching. Next she recomposed herself, banishing the vulgar actions from before and paling her rosy cheeks. Only upon recovery did she twirl with a flurry of taps to face the taller stranger again. She regarded him as if nothing had happened between them, no barriers of space had been broken nor any scenes shifting; they had always been standing in the dusty street! And obviously he had confessed to being a Bounty Hunter just here, a profession that held similar strings to her initial fantasies of the tall, rugged stranger being some kind of working class hero; especially in the way he described it. Mr. Darsis was a vigilante... then were his actions spurned by the fate of his wife?! It took all her willpower to resist declaring the tale as ‘so romantic’ and pencilling it all down in her notebook there and then. Instead she focused on the tactical error that had been made. “Karaoke is an island famed for artists and musicians, Mr. Darsis. They are not really the most violent of types...” Olivia stated, hesitant to reveal this fact in case it discouraged him after he revitalising speech. She supposed it was the fault of common people to not be as engrossed in knowledge as her, something that could not be judged obviously; heritage was completely out of his control after all. The nohzer teen sought out some local knowledge she could use to glorify the plan that had been poorly conceived. “...Unless you meant to find a charismatic spokesman to aid your recruitment process? That would be an inspired move, Mr. Darsis!” She concurred with his assumed idea, delighted that the tall stranger was not so common as previously thought... well, she hoped. The Nohzer teen was going to encourage the idea where possible; really she had met some quite absurd but special people among the many strange artists on Karaoke. “It would really help your group!” Olivia reaffirmed, holding the umbrella flat against her back once again. It was just then that her assailant struck through the flakes of ash falling from the sky, a particularly aggressive sheet of paper whipping through the air and colliding with the side of her face. The Nohzer teen was suddenly unbalanced, caught entirely by surprise and unbalanced. She began to topple, blinded also by the sheet of paper. “Help!” She cried out too late, landing ceremoniously on her rump. The sheet of paper had freed itself during her slow fall, revealing itself as a poster declaring the existence of a volcanic monster and challenging all to slay it. It landed neatly beside the girl, who in turn ignored it as she rubbed the side of her face that had been assaulted by it. The young Nohzer ignored Mr. Darsis as well, much too busy pouting and feeling sorry for herself. ((Plot alignment!!!)) |

Darsis was pulled out into the street. It had been odd since he had first heard the rapid tapping of the girls odd choice in footwear. She said something about finding a charismatic person to help him find people for Dogma. Well, if he had to pick, it would be the odd girl who he had practically told his life story to after all of thirty minuets. He pulled his hat on a bit tighter as the constant breeze created by the updraft over the volcano started to pick up a bit. Oli was now talking about finding that special person that could help him take over the world or what not. To tell the truth he was having a bit of a hard time hearing her. The wind was really starting to pick up. Out of nowhere Darsis saw something flash past him. It was light and looked like a bounty poster, but had a bit of force behind it due to the wind. Hitting the girl, it took her off balance and she tumbled back. Darsis made to catch her, but he missed his chance and she landed on the ground; much more gracefully then he thought she would. Picking up the paper and putting out his other hand to help Oli up, Darsis looked at the poster and a pit formed at his very core. As he read the sheet of paper he knew, without a doubt that Virgil had seen this paper, or found out about the thing some how. Fools like him had the kind of luck that they saw as good, but was clearly bad for anyone caught in the blast zone. Oli had taken Darsis' hand and tried to pull herself up, not helped by the fact he stopped moving to read the poster, and his hand was far to low to be of much help. She could have tried to scale the arm like a net, hand over hand. Pulling herself up the sleeve of the coat, but she was unable to do that. Darsis scooped up the girl and positioned her on his back, one arm under her legs. She would need to hold onto his neck in order to not fall off, and he instructed her to do so. "Hold on tight, I have a very bad feeling and I may need your help to talk some one out of something very stupid." He stopped, thinking just long enough to ask her if she even wanted to help. "Um, that is, if you do not mind helping me out." She answered back, but the wind gusted and all he heard was what he thought was a 'No problem.'. So, when he started to move he could feel her hold on. Virgil was a fool, and this wind was not good. The town had almost constant breeze caused by the heat of the near dormant volcano pulling air from the cool sea. The increase in wind power was caused by an increase in the heat being put off by the volcano. Darsis was not a scientist or anything, but his basic understanding of weather lead him to think the volcano was going to erupt soon. Darsis came to this conclusion as he had no way of even conceiving that the build up in heat was anything but the natural actions leading up to an eruption. He also had no real thoughts that he was bringing a young women into the range of the first blast if the thing did go off. Moving around town Darsis could not gain much speed. he was forced to slow down to turn and dodge people walking around. But as soon as they were outside the restricting streets of the town, he went all out. The top of the volcano was very far away, but he felt he could get there in about five minuets. He did not take into account the small loss in speed he was now being affected by, but it was not enough for him to think about. Running at near top speed, the wind rushed past, the ash stinging as hit hit his face and mixed with the bit of sweat and made it to his open eye. Running at that speed was nothing for him, but his passenger may not have moved that fast in her life. Getting closer to the top, he slowed down due to the very thick smoke making it hard to see, and there for harder to find his footing. After about seven minuets of running, he made out a shape in the smoke. He was about to call out when a bottle of what looked like piss hit him square in the face. The shock tripped him up and he took a knee, letting his passenger down from his back. |

As Darsis plucked up the small Nohzer, placing her on his back and getting dangerously close to a bad touch, the small girl screeched. Jumping back, and landing agily on the ground, she stomped her feet, her face growing red. "No, Mr. Darsis! That's a bad place to touch! Especially since you're married!" The adolescent scowled, placing her hands on her hips, and tapping her foot. "You should be ashamed of yourself, Mr. Darsis! Trying to take advantage of a young, vulnerable woman like that!" Now, her hand pressed against the side of her face, and within moments she was growing a full half foot taller, her hair going from a dark black to a lighter, almost brown shade. Her clothing changed along with her, creating a dark gray blazer, with a white shirt underneath. It was immediately apparent, at this point, that the person before Darsis was male, and at least as old as him. Adjusting a dark red tie, and glancing at him, he sneered. "You've fallen into my trap, Darsis Cain. I've been following you ever since I saw you with this young girl, waiting for something like this. You're clearly a pedophile, and on those grounds, I, Mitch Landen, Commander of the Special Anti-Pedo Marine Taskforce, am going to arrest you. Now, why don't you have a seat? I promise I'll go easy on you if you come quietly." |

It had gotten weird whilst she was still on the floor. Her self-pity had spawned out of falling over so easily, to a sliver of paper no less, making her seem quite helpless despite her Grand Line origins. The fall had not felt like it had done any damage initially, despite a smarting backside, the Nohzer girl had felt largely undisturbed by the brisk topple from her feet. It was as the shock of it subsided that she perhaps began to notice that her right leg, namely the ankle area, felt a bit off compared to the rest of her body. It was a feeling she did not get to examine fully as another came into play; the strange events started with a soft touch on her cheek. "Wh-" Her exclamation was muffled by the same hand that had touched her cheek, a firm hand that begged her silence. Olivia's initial reaction was to seek out the source; it was not Mr. Darsis for he was standing just a few feet away, blissfully unaware of what was going on with her as he examined the poster in detail. In fact, the sheer level of espionage that was occurring was quite shocking, the man moving her acted in complete silence as if a ghost. And he acted fast, passing on the Nohzer girl to a second pair of hands to hold whilst he approached the position she had been... except he was not a man... he was her? Olivia was confused. It was like staring into a mirror or meeting a long lost twin; a twin who had made the same clothing and hair choices on the exact same day and masqueraded in the same town. Bluntly this other Nohzer teen was an imposter of sorts but she could do nothing to alert the tall bounty hunter of this deceit; Mr. Darsis only looking away from the poster when it was too late. It had been the perfect switch, just what kind of professionals were they dealing with here? An existing bounty hunter group looking to take out the competition early? Maybe they were Mr. Darsis' archenemies and they were using her and her evil twin to harm him! No! Olivia cried in her mind as the tall hunter was easily duped by the swap, though somewhat taken aback by his actions. Sure she had fallen over but a piggy back ride? Maybe he was a little too caring... Her imposter cried out, at the same time the hand over her mouth was released. "What did-" "Ssh. Listen." The voice behind her intercepted her, she felt obliged to comply as her double went few theatrics, condemning Mr. Darsis for... trying to take advantage of her? The girl blinked. Hadn't everything been innocent...? Surely he had not made up the whole tale to woo her sense of romance...? The teen was denied the chance to take into in further, the strange scale flipped up again as her double suddenly transformed before her very eyes again, no longer her form but instead...! She remembered the man from the Ice Cream parlour they had just left, he had sat in the cubicle behind Mr. Darsis. Olivia looked at the man behind her; sure enough it was his blond companion with the hippy-looking goatee. They had been listening in the whole time? "But wh-" "Ssh." She was intercepted again by the blonde and held her tongue. It seemed the shape shifter was starting to explain again, what this was, why is happened, the crime committed, who he was, who he worked for; a flurry of facts that shocked and confused the Nohzer girl. She had caused this by asking for an ice cream, she had gotten Mr. Darsis in trouble. It was her fault. "I got Mr. Darsis in trouble..." Olivia muttered, by ignoring the customs of the islands she was on, the teen had incriminated another... perhaps breaking rules was not such a thrilling feeling after all. "No. Not at all." The blonde with the goatee commented from behind, before standing and helping her to her feet. "Look, its best you get out of here. Find somewhere safe. We have all the evidence we need." He explained before moving from the shadows to back up his shape shifting partner. Olivia found herself nodding absently, hanging around seemed like it would only make things worse, incriminate Mr. Darsis further... she didn't want that. She made up her mind. Gracefully the young lady turned on her left foot and trod lightly with her right, trying her best not to draw any taps from her seemingly bad choice of footwear for the day. By treading lightly, she found she could muffle the noise effectively, yet a new problem rose with each step; her right ankle was really hurting! Had she sprained it on the fall? Olivia didn't know, best she got far away before being concerned about getting it checked out... what if the doctor was paedophile to? How did she tell if people were a paedophile? What strange cultures other islands had. [Oli exit] |

The young Bounty Hunter knew she had the edge with her swords, no pun intended of course, against the Lava Beast that would surely be hidden against the smoke that she was having to fight through, and having to cough through slightly as well just to get to the monstrosity. Soon the girl's blade was out of the holster, being held within the confines of her right hand, and just as she was about to make a slice with her hand towards the 'Monster' of the island, a voice yelled out from where the Lava Golem had stood previously, and soon the smoke cleared enough for a moment for the girl to see a younger man standing there, and from his words he obviously wanted to talk for a moment. "You're no Lava Monster," Celia's first words were when she stopped her blade from heading towards the new figure who more than likely was at the volcano for the same reason that she was, to go Lava Monster Hunting. Although she assumed that she would be the only one up here today, since well, most people probably thought that the myth was a fake, but she wanted to prove them wrong, and well, if the people who had told her about the Volcano Monster were wrong, well, again, they were going to get the shit beaten out of them one way or another. "I figure you're up here for the same reasons as me," Celia growled out, slightly louder than first intentional, although after she said it she liked using that kind of volume with people who were questioning her, and they needed to know that she meant business as well. Taking a step or two back, she slid away from the odd man and put a small bit of distance between them, before lifting her blade up from her side and pointed it at the brightly clothed man, the blade reflecting some off of the light of the volcano, which only added to the effect that she was trying to go for at the current moment. "But regardless, what do you want to talk about anyways, I don't have all day, I have a Lava Golem to destroy," She said, glaring at the man slightly, trying to show a bit more that she meant business. She figured that a few things would happen at this point. One would be that the man would get angry at her, and maybe start throwing a few punches, in which case she would have to return the favor of the attack back at him. Two, he might just want some help in dealing with the Golem since he didn't look like he was the strongest of fighters anyways, and Celia would always use a bit more help. Three, well... He could always turn tail and run away from her blade, which would allow the girl to fight off the beast by herself and show that she was better than it. "Come on already! I already said I don't have all day to talk to a weirdo like yourself," Celia yelled out, moving her sword around slightly so that more light would reflect off of it at the moment. She coughed for a moment, due to the smoke still affecting her, though hopefully it wouldn't affect her to the point that she would be unable to fight, and only when she couldn't breath she would probably run away from the Volcano, being the stubborn, hard headed person that she was. |

"I could say the same about you." Virgil retorted in annoyance. He had no idea why she was talking to him with some form odd superiority that only served to anger the bounty hunter. Her statement did manage to prove one of the main questions going through his head at the moment. People on Karaoke Island never had much reason to come up to this volcano so it seemed his assumption about her being there for the lava golem was correct. Who would've thought? He had hoped he'd be the only one dumb enough to take the offer but smart enough to know the profit in finding the golem and showing the world. Well, showing the world whatever limbs he brought back down the volcano with. Honestly however, this was a bit of disappointment to Virgil. Celia certainly wouldn't see it due to the thick smoke steadily clouding the air around them, but Virgil's lips had slowly managed to contort into a distorted frown. The simple reason for this being that he would have to fight alongside someone else for the golem and split it with some chick he had just met not very long before. There was no fun in that, no risk in fighting a battle that was surely a win. He couldn't say much for her strength but she didn't seem like much to the bounty hunter. The fact she was up there could show some proof of strength or rather just stupid bravery and boldness. Not that Virgil was really one to call another an idiot for being bold or brash. He was pretty much the definition of these things. As she continued to talk Virgil just tuned her annoying voice out of his head. His other option would be challenge her to fight the beast. now, this option was pretty tempting to the brightly dressed individual, but due to time restraints it just wasn't an option. He also didn't want to be too banged up before fighting the monster. He sighed lightly and figured it was about time to continue their conversation. He had tuned out pretty much everything that Celia said while he was thinking so Virgil wasn't entirely sure where to start. "Yeah, I'm after the the thing in this volcano too." He finally responded and clutched his chest as he said the next part. The words were spoken in such a choked out fashion that it was obvious this decision was causing actual physical pain. "And due to the circumstances....I guess we can work together in this." Although his lips spoke of teamwork in his mind the only words that ran through repeated were, Please say no, please decline, dear God let her turn down this offer! Virgil was well aware of the fact that if this thing turned into a fight between the two of them that this girl would have the upper and due to the use of weapons. As much as the bounty hunter valued his martial arts abilities, sharpened steel pretty much always beat bare flesh when the two collided. But that would be the fun in it, another challenge he could pile upon the others he planed to have done in the future. |
