It had been a while since Virgil left East Blue and went on ahead to the West instead. Not that he had anything against the place, but it was too damn boring for his tastes. Now West Blue on the other hand, from what he had heard this place was wild. He had also heard that the bounties here were much larger and the pirates were tougher. With all of those things going for the place how could he possibly just sit in such a calm place as East Blue? Well, calm compared to the islands in this blue anyway. There were even rumors of a place completely made of candy! From what he had heard from the Darsis guy back on Dawn Island he was pretty much welcome to join the bounty hunter guild he was creating. Deciding it might be pretty fun Virgil actually joined without a second thought. He wasn't really sure how the different groups in the guild were supposed to interact though he didn't care. Alone or in a unit he'd continue to work. That aside, Virgil figured he'd enjoy this place for a while. It would eventually become rather boring to him and at that point he'd just head into the Grand Line. Might as well enjoy the scenery now though right? Karaoke Island was the first place he had chosen. Unfortunately there was little information on the place in the pamphlet he read though for the most part it sounded like a pretty damn fun and upbeat place. There were also a couple bounties that had been heard to be lurking around this area so he could probably relax a bit as well as catching more pirates. Apparently those guys he helped to capture in East Blue were pretty decently strong so he didn't have to worry about cash at the time being, but he knew this wouldn't last him long; and even though he had recovered from the mummy bastard's poison he could still feel a bit numbness in his body. A doctor would be pretty helpful. Finally touching shore Virgil stepped off and frowned. He was definitely not pleased. "What the hell is this crap?" Was it so wrong for him to assume this place to be a bit more cheerful due to its name? The smog spewing out from the volcanos was pretty much blanketing the island and made Virgils eyes water a bit. Before he knew it there was some guy standing in front of him with an easel and paint brush. "Good, good, hold that expression. That look of pain and sorrow." Virgil wiped his eyes and tossed the easel into the ocean. "Get going before I end up showing you pain and sorrow." The artist knew when he wasn't wanted and got moving. Even though this place wasn't what he expected it to be there were still some fun things he could do. Edited by Hideo, Sep 21 2010, 08:15 PM.

Ah, Karaoke Island of the West Blue. It was a very dreadful filled island, at least from the looks of it, though it appeared that most of the people who flocked to the island imagined it as a very beautiful place to practice their artwork and to write their poems and stories. Though the latter about the beauty of the island sickened Brenden, he hadn't been to an island this enjoyable for himself in a long time. After the incidents in the North Blue, the Doctor's bad navigating skills had brought him to the Western Blue of the four Blues, and then it brought him to this island, where the allure of it made him want to come here quickly. "Ah, can't you just smell the volcanic air more than usual today?" The Doctor said, talking to himself, as he walked along the middle of town, on his way to doing a Bounty Poster check to see if there were any interesting and expensive heads out today. While walking through the town, Brenden was walking in his odd way like usual, though today's looked more like he was walking on an invisible trapeze with his arms out and each one of his feet stepping right in front of the other while touching the back of the front one's heel, his usual deranged grin upon his face. "That Bounty Officer better have some good bounties today, or I might just let my scalpel slip into his skin once again," Brenden said to himself, as if continuing the conversation he had started with himself a moment ago. "Remember when you first cut into his arm after he didn't have any new Bounty Posters? Yeah, I remember that, that was a good one." The Doctor continued, starting to laugh now as he walked along, as his head moved along his neck, cracking it in the process, as his bizarre laugh rang out loud and true. Suddenly though, a bright flash of something around the Deranged Man instantly caught his attention, as he quickly jerked his head to the right as a small, husky looking gentleman was standing along one of the buildings, using what looked to be a camera in his hands to take snap-shots of the scenery above the island, including the volcano. "Simply remarkable..." He mumbled to himself, as he looked through the camera mirror piece and snapped another picture, as another flash of bright light came out of the object, as memories of Byond flashed back into Brenden's mind. Adjusting his path, he walked towards the man now, just as the camera-man noticed him and looked at him. "Can I help you?" He asked, eying him suspiciously. "Excuse me sir, but may I see your camera?" Brenden asked, holding his hand out some while he grinned at the man. "This will only take a minute of your time." He said, almost seeming to promise this. Though still doubtful, the man nodded and placed his beloved camera in Brenden's hand. Thankful, Brenden turned it over in his hands, before his right hand slipped into his jacket pocket, before pulling out one of his two scalpels. Before the man could question what he was doing, the Doctor laughed and stabbed the scalpel right into the lens of the camera, as the sound of breaking glass sounded in the air. After pulling it out, another quick stab into the part that flashed of the camera quickly happened now, before the camera was dropped onto the ground near Brenden's feet. "What the hell are you d-" The man questioned, before looking up at Brenden's face, as the scalpel was now near there as he held it, his tongue licking along the sides of the tool before it let go. "If you would rather have your eyes intact instead of me pulling them out with some tweezers, dissecting them before offering them to a homeless man to eat telling him that it is a unique cuisine of eggs than I suggest you get the hell out of here, punk." He said, his pointed tongue sticking out now and licking his lips. "I also have a joy of eye-egg omelets." He said, tilting his head all the way to the side as he laughed. Terrified, the man turned and took off down the street, scared out of his mind. The Doctor simply laughed, before bringing his foot up and smashing it right onto the camera, efficiently crushing it. That took care of another flashing monstrosity upon the seas. |

Darsis crouched on the small cabin of the tiny boat. The small area was his only respite from Virgil's constant need to test himself. He seemed like a nice guy back on Dawn Island, but it did not take long for Darsis to regret his decision to join him in going to west blue. First off, it did not take long to see the man had no end of energy, and put most of it into trying nearly suicidally challenging tasks. Darsis found himself stopping him from jumping into the calm belt more then once, and talked him out of climbing the redline only after showing him a trick with his gun. Unfortunately the long ride around west blue on the tiny boat was now filled with Virgil testing himself against Darsis. Darsis, for his part was not in much of a mood to play near endless games of rock paper scissors, and another game where you had to snatch a coin from the opponents open palm. His arm had healed, but his ribs still smarted if hit with almost any bit of force, so spinning and dodging to keep the coin in his hand was not a fun test of skill for him. Other then his odd need to push himself, Virgil seemed like a nice guy. It was a bit awkward at first, but the two soon found a few pieces of common ground to start talking. Darsis told Virgil about his training in the mountains, and the crazy old swords man Kiji, who had trained him. He even told him a bit about Rika, but nothing more then that the two of them had gone all over helping people and training in the use of guns. When the small boat touched land, Darsis was off it in a flash. The tiny boat was nice, but it was so small one could not even move around with out ducking, stepping over something, or bumping into one another. Darsis stretched out his legs, the island was not what he had thought it would be, but it had a good feeling to it. Seeing the volcanoes spewing ash into the air, his first thought was that Virgil would try to climb one and swim across a pool of lava. Hoping even Virgil would not be that stupid, he walked over to the man, who seemed to be scaring off some of the local color. "So, any plans now that you are here? I was thinking of a plan on the ride here and I was wondering what you thought of it." Darsis reached into his coat, and held out a stack of bounty posters. The face on the poster looked back at them, with only one eye... The bounty posters showed Darsis, but his hand was pulling his hat brim down, so it was hard to make out the face. The only clear thing was the eye patch, and how he was dressed. "My goal, at the moment, is to find more bounty hunters for my group. So I figure, the best way to find good bounty hunters is to test 'em. So! I was wondering if you could drop this stack of posters off at the bounty board." Dar proffered the papers, hoping the plan sounded good to Virgil. OOC

Virgil turned around with a bit of a jump at the voice of Darsis. He wasn't really frightened, just came as something of a surprise to him, honestly, the bounty hunter had already forgotten that he was here despite the fact that that they had just been talking likely less than an hour ago. He had a lot of things on his mind since they left Dawn Island in East Blue, and though they shared conversations with each other often to keep interest up, Virgil's mind pretty much ran wild. Being the navigator, he of course had to be sure they even got to West blue in one piece. It was also one of the more dangerous of the four blues so he was being sure to keep watch as his fellow bounty hunter slept, the last thing he needed was to have their ship damaged or for them to end up lost or in more pain. Although Darsis had received more injuries in their battle than Virgil he was still suffering a bit as well. The poison wore off the next morning pretty much, but he still had several knife wounds to tend to and no doctor. Needless to say, they were handled in the best way that a couple of bounty hunters with no medical experience could manage. Now, Virgil was not the brightest guy out there, but he was surely no idiot. He could tell thaqt on their trip Darsis had been trying to prevent him from testing his limits out in the ocean. But hey, how could you blame poor Virgil? It was his first time seeing the Calm Belt and Red Line so close. He had to do something. That aside, when the man asked him about what he planned to do while they were here Virgil decided not to tell him what he was really thinking. It did have to do with the volcano, but he still hadn't really thought of what exactly to do. So until he did he'd just go along with Darsis's plan. He took a stack of posters and started to flip through several of the pages, not entirely sure of what they were for until he finished. "So, drop off these posters and see who reacts? Sound cool to me." He began to head into town, somewhat eager to see what he could possibly do in there, but stopped and turned to the man one last time. "What will you be doing then?" Virgil wasn't exactly sure who was leading this little group, but seeing as Darsis owned the guild he figured it would still be best to show some kind of respect. Now continuing on through town, he frowned a bit like he did once first arriving. It was like the place got more and more depressing the further and further you got to its center. Even the clown performing on the sidewalk was frowning! What kind of travesty was this!? A sad clown. Hopefully whoever ended up joining their group wouldn't be so damn mopey like the rest of the citizens though. There was no way he'd be able to put up with that. |

Walking along his path now, people who had witnessed his actions before now stood clear of him and tried to avoid eye-sight with the man, which just made Brenden laugh all the more. Who cared if he just scared off another tourist? He had one of those flashers, and all of the flashers in the seas needed to be killed or destroyed, which was one of the man's side-quests on his journeys, though certainly not his main one, which was to become a great Bounty Hunter and make money for his medicines and other things. The Doctor turned the street corner, still walking the same way he was a few minutes previously, except this time he still had the same scalpel he used to stab the camera and scare the man all in one fell swoop. The thought of the man still running away in fear pleased the insane man, as he laughed again, his still deranged grin on his face while he was doing so. "Now just to make my day go by better, I just need to find a Bounty Poster with a guy that I can take down fast and get a bit of Beli for me to eat on for a while." He said, before looking up at the sky for a moment. "I should've gone through with taking at least one eye from that guy, I've eaten worse before." He said, though he thought that he would probably have burned the eye before getting to eat it. A wind whizzed by as Brenden's hair moved some, covering his right eye for a moment before he shook his head ferociously, messing it up even more though it seemed that the hair didn't cover his eyes then, just everywhere else along his face. As he looked up once again though, seeing someone with darker skin and dressed in bright clothing walking along the street, holding something that he couldn't exactly tell what as of yet. From the looks of it it looked to be a stack of papers under his arm... Bounty Posters? The Doctor didn't know, but at this point, he couldn't care less. Taking a deep breath, Brenden stopped his walk for a moment to keep his feet side by side for a moment. Before he took a large step with his right foot and went off into a run after the man, the scalpel still in his hand but somehow not stabbing him while doing so. While the man was still heading into town, the Doctor was hot on his trail, and when he got close to him, he had to yell out "You in the weird yellow clothing, stop where you are!" when he got close. Now that he was closer, Brenden could make out that what the man was holding was in fact a stack of Bounty Posters. Brain switches went off in Brenden's mind as he tried to figure out depending on the crimes how easy he would be able to catch the man that would be on the poster. "Hey, if you don't want a quick slash along your arm by my scalpel, I'd like one of those Bounty Posters that you're holding." The Doctor said, his crazy smile still on his face while he was asking him, his empty hand out as he expected to get one of the Bounty Posters. In his other hand was the scalpel which was not hidden at all. |

Darsis walked around the bleak town. This island was not what he thought of when he heard the word karaoke. The volcanos spat out enough ash to make it a perpetual dusk, and muted most of the colors to a dull grayish. He found himself not liking this island. Every one seemed like they had given up on life, but put up this desperate facade and walked about faking a strong will to live. Not knowing what he would do to pass the time it would take for some bounty hunters to come after him, he walked around town for a bit. It did not take long for him to see an ice cream shop, and, for no real reason, he went in. Inside, he saw they only had one flavor of ice cream, vanilla. This was not a real big deal, he was not all that hungry, but he was in the mood for something. Moving into line, he looked down to see a small boy and girl in the line, just ahead of him. The two looked well off, and did not seem to be wanting for money, despite the fact that he had seen a few kids clearly in need of a little extra out in the town. It was then Darsis had a little idea, and he moved out of the line. Walking over to the door, he watched the two rich kids buy an ice cream each and make there way out. Following the two out the door, he let them walk a ways ahead, then started to move. Before he took three steps, he was running at nearly full speed. Doing so he closed the gap between him and the kids very fast. As he passed them, his hands shot out and he nabbed the cones right out of their hands. The two kids moved to take the first lick, but only tasted air, and in this town, it had a horrid after taste. The two kids looked at there empty hands, then up at Darsis holding the ice creams. The two kids, despite the fact they could go get two more, and not know it in the morning; continued to cry. Darsis just stuck out his tung and walked away, the kids still crying. Not to far from where he had obtained the ice cream, he found two little girls, dressed in rags, sitting next to a women who was not much better dressed then a mouse. Darsis handed the girls the ice cream. They took them, with odd looks on their faces, but after a tentative lick, they put on a smile and thanked him. Wondering if the petty act had drawn any attention to him, he decided to walk around town doing more acts of robin hood like crime. If he was lucky, this would help the bounty hunters find him, and get things moving. |

Virgil had been bumping into the dim people of this town left and right. It wasn't his fault though! He was still deep in thought trying to figure out what that Volcano had to offer him on this island. Maybe if the people weren't so incredibly sad and boring all the time his eyes would've caught them quicker. If anything it was obviously their fault. Not that such a stupid explanation would make sense to anyone but Virgil, but hey, that's just how it was. The bounty hunter sighed and shrugged, why couldn't there be something exciting to happen on this island? Like a volcano eruption or some crazed doctor attacking him with a scalpel. He shrugged and continued on, it wasn't until now that he had realized that he didn't know where the hell the bounty board or whatever it was called was even located. Just then he could hear the sound of footsteps coming behind him, at a pretty quick pace too. Well, it was about time something happened in this dreadful place. He spun on his heel to look eye to eye to whoever it was that was behind him. The man's appearance seemed to be just as dark as this island, but at least he didn't look like he just stepped out of some black and white painting. He had a more 'crappy horror movie' look to him. Although his clothing and appearance didn't give him the doctor look, the scalpel in his hand was weird. It seemed almost out of place, but hey, just because he has medical equipment doesn't mean he's a doctor. Now that the mysterious man was threatening him though, Virgil had a choice to make. He could give him a few posters and the guy would be off on his merry way. This method would involve him listening to what Darsis needed as well as not being shanked in the middle of the streets. It was surely a win win type of situation. He was about to go ahead and pass him one, but then another thought popped into his head. this guy was the only half interesting person or thing on the island so far. How could he pass up this chance? Sure, there was a chance he could end up mortally wounded, but if he just kept wandering around this place he'd end up mortally bored. Not a real medical condition or cause of death but that pain would be worse than death itself! Virgil set the stack of posters on the ground behind him and looked to the attacker in front of him. "I'd like to see you try." Virgil cracked his knuckles and began to stretch out his legs a bit. When he said that he'd like to see the man try he wasn't being threatening or sarcastic, he was entirely serious. He was interested in seeing what this guy possibly had to offer. This was a big world where everyone seemed to have something special about them. Maybe this guy would even have a devil fruit of some kind. Virgil had seen few in his life time and fought pretty much none. It was odd though. Why did this guy have to threaten him to begin with? If he wanted a poster he could've just asked. Maybe the guy wasn't even a bounty hunter. It could be that his own poster was in the stack. And like that Virgil had found a way to avoid being scolded by Darsis! He'd just say this guy was a pirate. Sure, he was unsure of the validity of that statement at the moment. But he figured there was a 50/50 chance that it could be true. Then again, Virgil never was too good at math. |

As the Doctor watched the gears of the man in front of him's mind work as it seemed that he was processing what Brenden had said, the insane one among them shifted his feet slightly while he waited, before lifting up his foot to make sure that he had not stepped in anything too weird while he was running here. Unfortunately for his foot however, he had stepped into a patch of gum that was now stuck to the bottom of his foot. Looking at it for a moment, Brenden peeled it off using his gloved hands, before trying to shake it off, and it not wanting for it to come off. By this point, the weird man in front of him was now starting to stretch out, saying something about wanting him to see if he could get one of the posters from the man. While he still seemed to possess the posters that were behind him, the Doctor probably couldn't get to them at the current moment, because of the Yellow Wonder standing in front of him, now expecting him to fight and be victorious and such more than likely. Brenden honestly wasn't expecting the guy to be much of a macho-man in wanting a fight, and he didn't want to fight either, but it looked like he had no say in the matter anymore. A thought came to the Doctor's mind as he figured that he had two choices. The first was to somehow fight against the man, and since Brenden was physically the underdog in that fight, he had to somehow figure out how to beat him without using his abilities. That's where option two came along, as he would have to somehow try and figure out how to distract the man long enough for him to grab a poster and book it out of the man's way. Taking his hand that was gum-less and held the scalpel in it, he brought his hand up to his chin, in debate about how to address the situation at hand. He could always just try and make up something that could distract the Yellow Wonder, while he snuck up and stole a poster and used a medicine to try and beat him then. On the other hand though, if he told the fighter something that was somewhat outrageous then maybe he would flock towards the statement and see if it would work or not. Well, being the person Brenden was, the usual deranged grin appeared on his face after a moment's falter, as he turned towards the man, with a small idea on his hands. "Hey, Yellow Wonder, mind if I call you the Yellow Wonder? Didn't think so Yellow Wonder." He started off, what he thought was smoothly, as the scalpel in his hand danced through the air as he made odd gestures with his hands, before continuing on with his tale. "I figure this is your first time on the island, isn't that right Yellow Wonder? Your clothes give that away real quick. But anyways, I heard from a few kids in town that if you go to the top of the volcano and take a leak, a lava golem will rise up and start challenging you to a fight." He said, saying an obvious lie in order to try and trick the man even further, and to test his intelligence as well. "If you start running now, you may be able to reach the volcano in a bit and challenge the Golem and defeat him before the day will end," Brenden said, with a laugh as he watched the Yellow Wonder in anticipation to see what he would say. |

Unlike many visitors to the smoggy town, the Nohzer girl did not particularly mind the grim conditions. It was just different, which was never a bad thing in her book; trading a blue sky for a bleak overcast was something she had come to expect when travelling around the blues. It was quite exciting to regard the differences at their peak, a shower of ash had bought a smile from her lips the day before! Sure, it did get a little hard to breathe at high spots and the occasional draft did whip up enough dust to ruin a tailored suit, but Olivia could forgive these unintentional wrongs. The people were just as interesting. Artists! Strange, quirky people who looked upon a barren landscape and saw something no ordinary eye could. She had talked with several of them over the past three days, learning about the dreams and images the Artists envisioned on Karaoke Island. It was all quite ludicrous half the time, even creepy at times with the severely depressed types, yet the girl was polite and listened to every word with a smile. As she often did; she still was. Olivia was walking the streets of the town without much purpose, with a smile for all to observe. She kept to a neat stride as all proper Nohzer girls did, seemingly gliding across a cobble stone path. Her steps were accompanied by a rhythmic tap due to the footwear of the day; a pair of shiny, black tap shoes with long white stockings that were hidden beneath her usual formal looking attire. The black tailcoat and trousers attracted gazes in some areas but in Karaoke the people seemed more accustom to weird clothing perks. Artists were weird like that, many just assumed she was one of them if they spotted her scrawling notes furiously in her notepads. But that was alright! With a twirl of her umbrella and a big smile, no one could really think foul of the girl. She flicked away a stray strand of her hair as she turned onto a new road. No hat for the day, her head was naked allowing a full view of an unusually plain hair style for the Nohzer girl. Just her trademark golden streaks running down the sides of her black hair, it seemed to suit her surroundings more. The new street appeared to be less affluent then the last; her yellow nose twitching at the smell to confirm what her eyes had already deduced. The signs were there; more litter, a broken pipe had left a particularly grim puddle of waste and the few people present on it appeared to be dressed in rags. The smell of poverty had been growing from street to street on her wander, Olivia presumed she was in the heart of the 'slums'. It did not put her off proceeding, though a growing sense of pity for the people made it harder to smile. She was very aware of what desperate people would do for money. An oddity attracted her eye. A heavily garbed man had approached a ragged family of one mother and two children, naturally Olivia suspected foul play of some sort. Guys who dressed to cover themselves entirely tended to hide secrets! And then the strange, rather than pull out some pouch of money for the mother, for the classy guy, or some weapon, for the less so; ice cream! For the children! The girl in the tailcoat stopped to watch at her distance, a true Samaritan? It was interesting enough for her to give chase once the man turned to walk away. Her approach was never going to be stealthy in tap shoes; the tapper-tap-tap echoed a head of her quick stride. She slowed down once she got closer to the back of the brown-coat, noticing the severe height difference between them both at this range. She could smell him too; prominently the sea from his clothing but something of the man’s scent reached her lemon nostrils. It was an odd whiff; he certainly was not the richest of people, fairly average if she were to be harsh, though he did not exactly stink of greed for it. She supposed that was obvious from his previous act. She could detect some up market stuff on him though, maybe the coat? She couldn’t see a label from her current angle. Instead she went for a more direct approach. No doubt the brown-coat was aware of her tapping presence by now, Olivia walked faster than the man she was pursuing so she could overtake and cut ahead of his path. She spun around to face him, maintaining the appropriate greeting smile with her eyes closed; head at a slight tilt. “Hey.” Her eyes opened after the simple greeting, revealing their rose tint to the stranger as she too looked for his. At her height, the hat did little obscure his face and the high collar only shrouded the area beneath his nose. It turned out she was greeted by only a single eye, a green one on right side whilst the other was covered by a patch. A wound? It could be a awful conversation starter if it held bad memories. She opted for his generous act from before. “Could I have some ice cream too?” Olivia asked, leaning in just a little to try and see the rest of his face. She held her umbrella as a counter balance of sorts behind her back with both hands, people were not too violent on the island. Artists were peaceful like that, though the man before her did not seem to be the arty type. |

*Tap* What was that? Darsis had just given the girls the ice cream and moved away to do more stuff to allow the prospective bounty hunters to find him. And now, a strange sound. *Tap tap* Louder now, and a bit faster. The sound seemed to tickle his brain. He knew he had heard it before, but where? First thing that came to mind was a gun being cocked, but no, this was off from that. *Tap tap tap tap* No, not a gun... Some kind of machine? Some new weapon one of the odd people on this island had come up with? Then why did it sound like something he knew? What ever it was, it was coming at him. He could tell because it was getting louder, however, the strange quality of the sound made it echo at him from all around. He had no idea where it was coming from. *Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap* The best thing to do was to keep moving; right? What ever it was it was after him, and he would be ready. He was feeling much better, he had, had time to heal since his 'fight' with Sir Afro. As if it was by accident, he swept his arm back, knocking his coat open readying his weapons. *Taptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptaptap* Faster now... He looked around, the ally. Above? Behind? "Hey." Darsis stopped and looked down. He saw a young girl, dressed like a butler... His intensity was gone before it had a chance to show on his face. He was not off guard, but he was not about to give this girl the death eye. She did seem out of place, as much as he did any way. “Could I have some ice cream too?” Darsis was a little shocked at the request. She did not seem hard off, but he was not going to judge. She did seem like she wanted one, and he had just found a nice shop. Despite his seemingly clear mind, that led him to a solution, it seemed to stall out when he tried to talk. Even for him, it was a bit odd to have some one ask him for ice cream out of the blue. "Uh..." He still had his collar up and covering some of his face, and his hat pulled low. Thinking it made him look a bit evil, this is what he had been going for; he pulled his hat back and with one finger popped open his collar. On any other island he would most likely squint at the bright sun his hat would have been blocking, but here, it only opened his face to the bombardment of ash that fell from the sky. Seeming to find his tongue again, he nodded to the girl. "Yeah, if you would like some. I just found a shop a little way out of this neighborhood." Darsis pointed the way he had been walking. He also rolled his shoulders, this got his coat to cover his weapons. This seemed like a very poor attempt at an ambush, having him pick where they were going. "My name is Darsis by the way, what is your little miss?" He had started to move as he asked, and almost missed her reply due to the noise her shoes were making. For some odd reason she had tap shoes on, Darsis recalled the sound from the far off years when his mother; a near professional level tapper, had tried teaching her sons tap. His brother had done ok, but Darsis had never really liked the way his mom got when teaching. Oddly, it was a lot like the was Kiji got, but with him it seemed only natural to be like that. The walk was turning into a near silent bit of awkwardness when Darsis decided it would be better to talk to this, odd girl. All he knew at this point was that she liked ice cream. "So, what brings you to this island?" Thinking it a bit rude to just ask questions, he added a bit about him self. "I am here with an associate, looking for man power. I recently became the head of a group, and we are only just starting out..." Darsis seemed to drift into thought. He knew he had wanted to start this guild, and it had worked out ok, or so he thought. It did stress him a bit to have every one scatter to the four winds as soon as they had become a team, but he did trust Seinin, a bit... But who knew what Alex was up to. Spotting the ice creamery, he pointed it out to the girl. "Just up there, hope you like vanilla, its all they have there." He smiled at her as they walked, drawing looks at the odd tapping sound. The man who had confronted him seemed to be having second thoughts at this point. Damn, maybe this person wouldn't be any fun at all. First he threatens him for a poster, but now decided otherwise. He looked scary but he seemed to be pretty much all talk. It was a disappointment to say the least. The island in general had been a pretty big let down so far, and just when the young fighter got his hopes up this happens. Though, moments later the odd man said something that made Virgil's ears perk up a bit. Well, the first thign that caught his attention was the fact that this guy had now dubbed him the yellow wonder. It was an obvious reference to his brightly colored green and yellow clothing but it wasn't one he took too kindly to. Regardless it seemed he had something to tell him so he figured he may as well let the man finish before deciding what to do. Perhaps it would be an apology for threatening him? That would be pretty damn lame, but by this point Virgil wanted to be done with the guy. It wasn't until he completed his statement that Virgil's personality did a complete 360 degree turn. Did he just say what he thought he did? At the top of the volcano there was a fucking lava golem challenging people to fights. That was pretty insane, and as such Virgil spoke his mind. "Wow, you must take me for some kind of fool. Do I look like an idiot to you." He turned around and picked up the stack of posters resting behind him. "Only an idiot would pass up an opportunity like this! You wouldn't believe how long I've been trying to think of something to do at that volcano." He pulled out several posters and stuffed them into Brenden's hands. "Take as many as you like. Consider it thanks for telling me this." Virgil know looked back at the all the posters Darsis had given him to take care of and sighed. If he went and handed these off at the bounty board or whatever there was no way he could make it to the volcano and defeat the golem before sundown. He had no idea what sun down had to do with defeating the thing, but hey it was mentioned in the guy's story right? still, even if it was a lie there still was a chance it could be true. Virgil knew if he just ignored it then he would be wondering for the rest of the voyage if it had been true or not. He would spend nights lying awake, dreaming of the epic battle that could have been. The torture would be unbearable! With a decision to make, he obviously went with the common sense choice. "Hey, creepy guy. Take these and pass 'em out for me. If you do then I'll bring you back the golem's arm or something." Sure dragging an arm made of molten rock back into town would be difficult but he needed some kind of way to prove that he really killed the thing. No one would believe a story like that without some kind of proof to show up with. If only more people could be open minded like Virgil, right? Taking the rest of the stack, he hastily shoved them into Brenden's arms as well. He looked over to the edge of town and saw the enormous mass still spewing the gray smog into the sky. He couldn't help but wonder how far that thing was from his current location, but decided that didn't matter. "Ready, steady, go!" He said and sped down the streets, knocking people over on his way. Under normal circumstances he would've apologized but there was no time for that and these circumstances were far from normal. |

Well, it seemed that the lie that Brenden had told the Yellow Wonder seemed to have effected him in some way, shape or form seeing as almost as soon as the words had left the Doctor's mouth that the Poster Holder did a complete 360 degree turn before looking at Brenden once again to most likely see if he was telling the truth. The Wonder's first few words seemed that the Deranged Doctor had mistaken him for something that he wasn't, but his next sentence and the shoving of the Bounty Posters in his hands proved otherwise. Not missing a beat as it seemed like, the Yellow Wonder quickly asked Brenden to take these posters around town and pass them out, and in return he would get an arm of the lava golem from the Volcano as a reward. And right after that, the rest of the posters were shoved into Brenden's arms, as he had to shift the way he stood some before he would topple over with the now added mass of the papers with him. Turning his head slightly, he saw the Yellow Wonder now starting to run and head towards the Mountain in an attempt to get the fight that he wanted. "Pathetic," He said, before dropping the papers that were shoved into his arms at his feet, before bending down and picking up a few in his hand to get a better look at his target. It seemed that the man he was chasing after had a bit of an odd appearance that normally didn't go with the norm of this island, which would be a relief in the long run seeing as he has some sort of hat on, along with an eye-patch and not as dark clothing. "Well...Darsis Cain's his name..." Brenden said, looking at the poster, looking at it again, before taking the scalpel in his hand and cutting into the top paper for a moment with it. It took him a moment, but when he was done with his three different marks, he was happy with what he had done. Over the picture of that paper, he had made a smiley face with the Doctor utensil, and though it was poorly done, Brenden's laugh sounded deranged and true, as he ripped it off the stack, the Six-million bounty on the bottom of the paper fell off the stack, as the next paper seemed to look fine and dandy as the first had looked. "Your head is now mine, Cain!" Brenden yelled out, sticking the scalpel in his pocket, before turning and walking on the invisible straight line that he had been walking on earlier as he started heading down the street once again, more than likely off to find people to talk to to see if they had seen the Bounty-Head as of yet, and hopefully it wouldn't take long to find someone to question either. |

Olivia’s features did not change much after her out of the blue request, masking the undisputed randomness of her question with a polite smile that persisted despite the stranger muddling his words straight away. Maintaining the smile was important though, especially when dealing with a man who clothed to hide in plain sight. Her theory of a cheerful presentation paid true just before a sentence could be uttered, the guy partially removing his shroud by raising his hat and lowering the collar. The sudden willingness to show his face caught her just a smidge off guard, attracting enough attention for her to miss the show of weapons on his belt. At first, she judged his appearance by appeal out of an inbred Nohzer instinct that even she could not shake and then got more interested in the defining detail. He was not handsome, rugged was perhaps a better term; certainly not a pretty boy who shrouded his looks to escape attention. Not wishing to dawdle on his single eye at the risk of offence, she looked instead to the hair that had been revealed a little more by his opening up, a similar shade of black to her own that was kept short; presumably to make wearing a hat all the more easier. The man appeared to recover when he nodded. “Oh, Mr. Cohen’s store.” Olivia said after looking in the direction he had pointed, she had learned some of the town’s layout after just a few days. Mr. Cohen ran a small store that boasted the best vanilla ice cream in West Blue, believing himself to be a pioneering artist in the ice cream trade... sadly he only did the single flavour; and the Nohzer girl preferred strawberry. She did not show any disappointment though, much too thrilled by the stranger’s apparent willingness to go along with it. The female softened her smile, its broadness narrowing now that this man had become a shy, charitable individual, Olivia even pulled away a little in confidence he would not brush her off as some ignorable pest. “Just Olivia, Mr. Darsis.” She replied amicably to his question, the name sitting at the front of her mind for the time being. It was familiar to the girl who kept up with the latest gossip from the various news outlets, though with so many plots to follow, finding a specific name amongst them was near impossible. Darsis being a rugged, kindly man in a thick coat (still lacking an obvious label) fitted nicely for now, it was an archetype that had yet to make an appearance in her notebook. More than twice. She stepped to the side, no longer needing to stay in front of the tall man now they were heading for the ice cream parlour. The Nohzer girl remained next to him, politely holding her umbrella in her left hand so it would not knock against the man’s legs. His larger strides meant Olivia had to take nearly twice as many short steps, her tapping steps being a frequent reminder of her continued presence. With both of them sporting a label, communication was meant to be a lot easier for the both of them. Having led with the questions, Olivia expected Darsis to continue with a subject of some sort, maybe about his charitable efforts in poverty stricken nations or a time when he saved a cat from a tree for an adorable five year old. Sadly, their conversation was stale for a brief moment, the girl’s smile hesitating but not disappearing altogether. The tapping seemed to add to the awkwardness. It did allow her to examine his scent more thoroughly, especially with the removal of the collar. Her nose reaffirmed his common smell, that combined with his charitable ways led her to a single conclusion; a working class hero of some sort. It was a change from the constant stream of artists. “I..” She held back her tongue as the tall man proceeded to speak after his question, she guessed out of some form of respect or to make the query less rude. The girl would have honestly not minded going first; she was actually surprised by the lack of questions being thrown in her direction after the random greeting. But Darsis spoke of himself and his reasons for visiting the hazy town on Karaoke Island, eager to outdo his junior in manners. And what strange reasons they were! Her working class hero was leading a group, with him an ‘associate’! It sounded so terribly formal, almost as if the rugged man was speaking alien words he should not, trading his charitable duties for a higher calling of leadership. The Nohzer female was impressed, though in truth, it did not take much to do so; she had been equally fascinated by an artist describing dead vegetables with famous marine names. Miss Chesterfield was easily interested in things. So interested that she did not divulge any information of her own, being far too busy at dreaming up a number of fantastic reasons for this underclass revolutionary to seize his freedom and draw others to his noble flag! And here he was, buying her ice cream, how lucky she was. They had reached the parlour by the time he warned her of Mr. Cohen’s single flavour, a detail she knew but made a small noise of thanks for the words. She opened the door for her patron, quick to beat him on one front of manners; this shift in advantage seemed to spur words from the Nohzer girl. “Visiting, Mr. Darsis.” She said, pausing as she brushed the thin layer of dried ash that had settled on her black hair. “Without much of a reason...” Olivia added, smiling as she placed the tip of her umbrella on the tiled floor. She glanced towards the Mr. Cohen behind the counter; the strange man knew what order would be, but seemed to wait anyway. The girl shook her head, artists were strange, did the tall man really expect to find any recruits on such a strange island? “Pick one out for me, please.” She jested, walking into the middle of the parlour but no further. ((end was pretty rushed.)) |

The lights in the ice cream shop were bight, casting a white light over all the shiny clean surfaces the shop used as its face. It was rather nice in comparison to the dank and gray world just outside the door. It was a little odd that the trail of ash that the patrons had dragged in on their feet did not tarnish ought but the smallest bit of floor near the door. How the shop keeper managed that was a mystery to the Bounty Hinter. He looked around, noting the queue for ordering was about three people deep. “Pick one out for me, please.” The little girl, Olivia she had said moved over to the center of the establishment and waited for him to navigate the line and place the order. Now seeing her in the clear white light, he noticed her nose was an odd shade of yellow. It was almost as if it had been dipped into gold as a baby, and the skin growing over it had dulled the luster over the years. This was a little odd, having never seen one of her kind before, but Darsis was not one to judge on physical appearance, and she did seem like a nice girl. Darsis moved over into the line and waited as the people before him ordered. After a short wait, it was his turn. Looking at the eight tubs of pure white frozen cream, then back at the owner, who seemed like he expected it to be a hard decision. Darsis did not know if this place, like so many smaller establishments had its own rituals to follow in the ordering process. He had been trying to watch what the people before him had done, and was now mimicking the act of picking the right tub to cast the cone from. Spotting one that had no other scoops taken out of it, he leaned in to get a better look. Bending over and looking into the glass, he missed the ring on its length of chain sliding out from under his shirt. It hung down, suspended in the air by its chain. Standing up Darsis pointed out the tub he wished the girls scoop to be pulled from. Deciding the snack looked worth the price, he made the order a double and when the two cones full of vanilla goodness were handed to him he carried them over to a booth next to the window. Handing Olivia her ice cream, he took his and licked away some of the more melty parts. This island did not seem to be a good environment for ice cream to live happily. Darsis was a bit confused on what to talk about. It was becoming clear to him that this was an awkward situation. "So..." The silence could be cut with a dull knife. "So, what do you know about ships? I myself am looking for one, but my funding has been..." He laughed to himself. "Well, buying random people ice cream is not going to help me get a ship any faster, but I think the set back is a minimal one." Darsis had to make a quick move to catch a bit of melty ice cream with his tongue. The motion made the ring swing out, and it caught his eye. He switched the ice cream to his left hand, and with his right held the ring up to eye level. His eyes seemed to gloss over, focusing on the ring, but not really seeing it. Darsis was back on that night, walking down the cities streets. Rika had told him she had something to take care of, and to come over when he could. Walking down the street near her home, he heard the gunshot, the scream... When the door was thrown open the sight before him covered his mind in a fog. His blade had passed through the others neck and h was taking her to the doctors before it was even close to clearing. Then the pain of that night, not all of it from the Marine Captain, who was enraged at the death of his son. The shock of something cold on his hand snapped him out of it, the ice cream melting all over and making a bit of a mess. Licking it up he finished off the cone rather quickly, and tucked the ring back into his shirt. Looking up at the girl, she seemed to be looking at him. "Ice cream..." Darsis pointed at the back side of her cone, at the avalanche of melting frozen treat. |

((Rushed post agogo)) Judging by the sun's current position, Virgil knew he didn't have much time to get to the mouth of that volcano before the sun went to rest. He soon kicked his speed up a bit and began to move faster than before. This did serve to decrease the time it would take him to arrive, but also proved rather dangerous to anyone and everything around him, and more than that, himself. Most people on the streets saw nothing more than a green and yellow blur, with the unfortunate victims being pretty much whatever was in the Yellow Wonder's way. To say the least, the dull people of Karaoke Island didn't enjoy such a noisy and annoying character causing trouble, especially when wearing such out of place clothing. Worst of all however, the bastard was too damn happy! How could someone be on this rock and be enjoying themselves to that degree? You were supposed to be gloomy and dreadful! Virgil could hear several of the people begin to yell odd obscenities and throw things at him, though he shrugged it off. This however did serve as a useful muse for several artist, the enraged faces of citizens at the tourist causing such a ruckus? It would be a master piece indeed. He began to think of that odd man and Darsis at this point though. The guy must have wanted a poster really bad. Perhaps he was someone who could be of use to them, someone Darsis had been looking for on this trip. Maybe even by some odd chance of fate he'd also be a doctor. Though, if the creepy man in black had listened to Virgil and gave out the rest of the posters then there would be a lot more people as well. That also meant a lot more trouble for Darsis, as they all would assume him to be a pirate and attempt to attack him. The man had told Virgil to be careful and those that attacked him he would handle on his own, though seeing as he had never seen the guy fight before it was difficult to gauge his strength and ability. Would he really be able to handle anyone that wound up coming his way? It made the new bounty hunter somewhat regretful of leaving the plan behind to fight something they may not exist, but hey, if it did exist then Darsis would be pretty damn surprised. Maybe he should drag back two of the golem arms so Darsis won't feel left out for not getting one himself? That would mean Virgil couldn't get an arm for himself now, but a head or leg was just as good. Some time had passed and he could see the smoke spewing monster of a land form just ahead of him. He had probably pissed off half the town to get here, but that wasn't his problem. They'd forget about it eventually. |
