"Pirate?!?!” exclaimed Leslie shocked. She could hardly believe what she was hearing. “You mean the people who, like, pillage towns, and kill people, and smell really, really bad?!?!" "Er, not exactly.” replied the Baron. “The kind that fights people like Dennis and his leader. That's my ship over there." Mars points to the L'Esule, covered in graffiti and looking like a small, smelly pirate ship. "So,you go around fighting mean, rich people?” said Leslie distracted for a moment. That's when she actually saw the Baron's ship. “What did you do to that boat?!?!" "Yeah, that's exactly what I do, I guess." replied the Baron. "And about L'Esule, I used to be a painter, and I'm trying to find a new way to paint. I"m still working on it." "I don't mean the paintings.” said Leslie waving her hand as if to shoo the notion away. “I've seen plenty of ships with unique-ish art styles. I mean the smell! It's like you let a goat poop in it, and left it there. And look at all that damage! I mean, did you, like, glue the thing together or something?" "Uh, yeah, I was kinda depressed and stuff for a while. I can clean it up a little, before we leave, also, I didn't know you weren't supposed to use glue for putting ships back together. Carpentry isn't really my thing. Oh, yeah, almost forgot, here is your compensation for working with me." The Baron reached into his pocket, and pulled out a round, purple jewel about the size of a small plum. "Do you think you could help me build a new one? I think this one might fall apart in a storm." Leslie gasped at the sight of the jewel. "Oh my gosh!” she exclaimed as she took the jewel in her hands. “It's so pretty! And, with a little polishing, I could totally make a killer piece of jewelry out of it! I could make a necklace, or a bracelet, or oh my gosh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Leslie rushed forward to pull the Baron into a tight hug. "You can call me Mars by the way, the baron was just a code name.” the Baron, er, Mars, said before Leslie released him from the embrace. “So, can you help me make a new ship?" "Mars? Isn't that the big red planet?” said Leslie pondering. “Oh, and I can totally help with a ship! I love ship building! It's, like, one of my favorite things to do! Right along side house building and shopping! Oh, but, can we get off this island first? I don't want those cultists to find me and, you know, like, try and sacrifice me again." "Yeah, of course we can get off.” said Mars. “I'm a little bored with this island, too. I'm going to go tell Vince, we should be ready to leave by tomorrow evening." Leslie smiled. She was going to be safe! She was a little worried about the cultists finding them before they could leave, but she had faith that everything would work out alright. |

Henri laughed, somewhat undeterred by the previous conversation and the explosion. It certainly was true that the boat needed a woman's touch... Or at least some minor cleaning products. Spinning out a little, he nodded to Mars, if they were leaving tomorrow he'd need to do some serious shopping. Flicking through his father's list of contacts he stepped forward. Mars certainly would have his work cut out for him getting this rust bucket to the grand line. He'd do what he could of course, to help the crew on its way, but it wasn't much. His brain was ticking away; you could almost literally hear the cogs whirring. He smirked lightly, writing furiously and drawing quick graphs, upon his notepad, with the occasional "Uh-huh..." "Maybe this..." or "Nah...". Eventually after nearly a minute or so of manic mathematical equations, his face lit up, he ceased writing and held up the intelligible graphs, half expecting everyone to understand. "I'll have all the supplies by tomorrow evening, half five at the latest. You guys just build, acquire, whatever you do for the ship and grab the crew I'll see you there." He checked his left wrist vacantly before darting off into the night, almost a blur. The contacts for supplies were scattered across town, he'd have to twist a few arms to get all of this stuff before leaving. He'd make it somehow. After all, he was the 'Silver-Tongue'. |

As Vincent followed the pair, he looked around the docks at all kinds of ships, ranging from Marine battleships to big merchant ships to small fishing barges. It’s been months since the last time Vincent has been to the docks. After several minutes of walking, they finally arrived at the place where Mars’s boat was. Vincent couldn’t help but smile at the site of the damaged and painted boat. “Sure it’s not much,” Vincent thought, “but it’s enough to get me away from this island and the guild.” “So what are you gonna do about the job Lucas gave?” Larry asked. “It didn’t come from Lucas, it came from the old man. Lucas is just his subordinate.” Vincent replied, “but I’m not sure yet. Only time will tell.” Vincent nodded his head in agreement when Mars told him that they would be leaving tomorrow evening. After saying “see ya tomorrow” to everyone, Vincent headed back to his apartment to gather all of his stuff. “There he is. Just like Lucas said he would be,” a young man, who went by the name of Antonio Giovanni, said glancing from the roof of a nearby building. “What do you have against him anyway?” asked his companion, Frank Detoulio, biting a chunk of cheese he was carrying. “That’s the bastard who killed my brother!” Antonio exclaimed and spat on the rooftop. “You sure it’s ok to send him to your father?” Frank asked, still munching on the cheese as they watched Vincent walk-away. “Yes, I want him to suffer in that hell-hole my father calls an institute.” Antonio smiled evilly. “Lets follow him and that crew of his.” He continued and walked back into the building. |

Mars was glad Leslie had not smelled like mules and work when he was hugged. He only assumed the clothed shower he had given her had cleaned her up, after a long dayof excitement. He wondered if that would be a viable form of bathing for any smelly crew mates on L'Esule. But, he had detected a pleasant sent, so it might have been the remnants of perfume or shampoo. He shook off his ideas of smells and hygiene at sea, and addressed his companions. "Alright guys, I'll be back in an hour or two. Got some stuff to clear up, before we leave." Mars headed to the meeting place he had decided upon with Taylor Durben, to see if Kyte and Jin had made it through alright. He hoped they were still alive, and hadn't met their demise below his feet. If they had, Mars was comfortable with letting Jin start missions on his own, as he would have proved his ability to handle dangerous work independently, which was probably the most important thing for 'Agents', like himself, to learn. Mars walked by a food vendor. The young man manned a cart, with an aroma that attracted him to it. Mars would have to get some finger food on the way to make his meeting, as his stomach had been growling in impatience since the sun fell. He honed in on the cart like a shark to blood. It was a dumpling dog joint, but he didn't get in line to buy one, as he preferred his style of finger food, the kind he got a five fingered discount on. In that vein, he distracted the young vendor by turning around, and bumping into his cart. "Oh, di-didn't see you, th-there." Mars slurred and stumbled back from the mobile snack shop, having already stuffed a dumpling dog into his cloak. He didn't wait for a response from the vendor, he just did a fly line back in the direction he had been going. A few uncouth statements in a thick accent he had difficulty understanding, was the vendor's way of goodbye. A few of the other drunks waiting in line joined in chorus, making fun of someone they felt had drank too much. Mars wondered at the hypocrisy. His meandering walk took him round a corner, after which he stuffed the dumpling dog into his mouth whole. He ate it as quickly as he could without choking, but once it was down, it still managed to put a smile on his face. Mars thought no one had seen him finger his food, but the incompetent Cipher Pol agent trailing him, saw him eat it. He followed Mars as he was trained to do, it was one thing he was actually good at, at least if he didn't get winded. The agent made a mental note, tallying a minor crime to Mars' ledger. It wasn't the kind of thing his superiors had asked him to get on Mars, but as he had failed to find anything good beyond a few petty thefts and general vagrancy, it would have to do. The agent had slept even less than Mars had though, as he was intent on making sure he was not demoted, he stumbled around a bit like Mars had, but mostly out of fatigue. Demotion had been threatened earlier over a Den Den communication to the agent, after he recounted the incidence where Mars had hitched a ride on Flo's carriage, and the Cipher Pol had unable to follow on foot. Instead of demotion, he was assigned to do run 30 laps around his stake out apartment, whenever Mars slept. He was terrible at it, and usually ended up walking the last 20 laps, but he did it anyways. Cipher Pol was the kind of paranoid organization to keep closer tabs on it's own agents, than even the criminals it was tasked with taking down. With all the things to do, Mars doubted he would get any sleep tonight. After the midnight meeting, it would take him a while to wash the ship, but he would rather do that under the cover of night. He could make up his beauty sleep on the way over, it was worth it for an early departure. Where over to, he didn't quite know. It reminded him to speak to Leslie, to find some suitable destination. Maybe an island where they had old boats, so they could fix one up, rather than start from scratch. If he was going to go around poking at the World Government, he would rather do things quickly, and never stay on an island for too long. Mars made it to the meeting place, on Fifth and Sengoku, the area of a recent blaze involving a bar. He had picked it as it was a useful to hide in the burned out husk of a building, and when the fire had caused the building to cave in, it had opened up a small hole into the sewers. Mars had read in the paper that had also been the site of a battle between the drug smugglers and the Loguetown PD, during his research of drug running on the island. The fresh bullet holes in many buildings, around the former Devil's Dog, pointed to the danger the drug gangs posed to the island. Mars settled down in the former bar, and the Cipher Pol agent added another count of loitering to Mars' list of crimes. The agent disappeared into an alley, to report back to his superiors on the vagabond's devious actions. Notes

All in all, pretty well done. I felt like J0ls stole much of the spotlight, and a lot of the other characters were overshadowed by his actions. I can't find any glaring errors that need rectifying in future SLs, but I also didn't find things of particular genius to be mentioned. Except for rat mustaches. On cows. Shit was bawlin'. Mars "Bloodstained Critic" Vespertine- 34 SD 7,000,000 beli bounty for Stealing a cow, posing as a nobleman, destroying private property, and two counts of defacing priceless art. Vincent "Party Crasher" Guerrero- 26 SD 5,000,000 beli bounty for one count of murder, and for sailing with the criminal known as Mars Vespertine. Dashiva Ryuusei- 6 SD Leslie "Ball Buster" Olendzakaia- 28 SD 4,000,000 beli bounty for several counts of sexual harrasment and assault, as well as sailing with the criminal known as Mars Vespertine. Henri "Silver-Tongue" Argent- 4 SD Neither Dashiva nor Henri have been directly linked to Mars yet, so no bounties. After examining the two gems that Mars extracted from Dennis's statue, Henri managed to sell them to a jewelry store. The pay was a whopping 26,000,000 beli, to be split however they like. And yeah sure, go ahead and take that cow. Just don't do anything with it until you get another trait. Yes, I'm aware the nicknames suck. Bear with me for a bit, I'm just getting my feet under me.
