Leslie nodded as she began following the minister. “Thank you, sir. I have no doubt you can get us far away from Dennis and his goons. I still can't believe...” As Leslie entered the chamber, she froze at the site of the crowd as they all turned to stare at her. She looked around for a moment as she tried to assess the situation. That's when she noticed some things about the room. It kinda looked like a church. Okay, so not like any church she had ever seen, but maybe they just needed some decorating tips. Maybe an actual cross somewhere, some color, get rid of that weird, ugly thing in the front of the room, move the cow a to the...

Leslie froze upon seeing the cow in front of her. The cow continued chewing on some sort of cookie for a moment before noticing Leslie also. The two stared deep into each others eyes as the world slowly began drifting out of focus. The two were so distracted staring at each other that neither noticed the minister guy going super speed to smack the skinny guy upside the head. Suddenly both of their eyes filled with sparkles as smiles (or the cow equivalent of a smile) spread across their face. Leslie started slowly running towards the cow in slow motion. The cow started galloping towards Leslie in slow motion. Several members of the assembled crowd silently questioned exactly why their sacrifices were moving in slow motion, and one or two questioned their sanity.

As the two neared each other, which took a minute considering how slowly they were running, Leslie fell to her knees, and embraced the cow in a giant hug, and the cow nuzzled her affectionately. It was love at first sight, signified by the imaginary cloud of sparkles and bright lights that filled both of their mind as they embraced for the very first time. One guy in the audience started crying at the emotional display, and then actually started applauding only to be backhanded by the lady sitting next to him, presumably his wife.

Leslie lent away from the cow as the two stared into each others eyes. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Leslie noticed something. She turned her head only to see a very familiar white suit.

“You!” she shouted standing, which made the cow look towards where she was pointing with a bewildered look on her face. Leslie quickly grabbed on of the nearby candle stands, and jumped up on top of the alter in a dramatic pose.

“Dennis!” she shouted pointing at the man. “As a deputized member of the Ciphor Pol, I, Leslie Olendzskaia, hereby place you under arrest!” Leslie drew back the stand in yet another dramatic pose. “Prepare yourself!” She then lunged off the alter, and swung the golden stand at Dennis's head.

"That's a pretty good idea." Vincent thought as Mars shot off the end of the key, trapping the guards in the cell for some time. "Why didn't you think of it?" the voice scolded Vincent. "If I had some way to break it, I would have." Vincent replied annoyed and followed Mars further into the hallway.

"Madness descends!" Mars cried out, lunging the woman cultist, rapier outstretched before him. The woman swung her club at Mars, sending him into the wall but not before stabbing the woman in the shoulder with his rapier. Shrugging off the pain, the woman grabbed Mars by his neck and hoisted him up while he attempted to kick her.

"Good god, what has she been eating?" Vincent exclaimed before rushing forward to help Mars. Before getting to close, Vincent threw one knife at the woman, embedding itself in her left shoulder. Alone it wouldn't have had much effect on the likes of her, but thanks to the rapier wound, the pain was enough to drop her arm for just a second and allowing Mars to drop to the ground and catch his breath.

When he got close to the woman, Vincent bent low to the ground and dived forward, cutting the woman's left leg right at the back of the knee. However, as he got up from his dive, Vincent the business end of the club she was carrying, sending him headfirst into the wall. As Vincent tried to get up, he lost consciousness and slumped to the floor.

Mars was generally not one to look down on women, despite his upbringing on an island which did so. This was mostly because of a few exceptional examples, that helped him overcome the usual mindset, of the macho culture he was brought into. This was hammered in rather more strongly during his time with the Barcelona Boys and their progressive ideas about gender. But, despite all that, he still saw women more worthy of protecting than fighting. All that flew out the window when his life was at stake though, and when a woman was twice his size.

So, Mars was damned if he would get killed like at this point. He just managed to catch the woman's knee with his kick. He could feel the sweat slicked hand of the woman try to crush his windpipe. He gurgled his frustration and wiggled in futility. Just out of the corner of his eye, though, Mars noticed Vince throw a knife, from the farther down the hall. It hit it's aim, and the large woman dropped Mars, he had his chance to redeem his lost man hood.

"You f**king cow!" Mars shouted and grabbed the cultist's hood, the second he was able. The woman was distracted by Vince's sudden charge. "Have a taste of Anolecrab." Mars butted his nautilus shell helmet right into the cultist's face. A satisfying crunch further uglied the cultist. Not that the bag over her head made much difference, though. She did however, manage to knock Vince to the ground.

With her last swing, the cultist had left her self open. She just tried to swipe at Mars, with a backhand. Mars was no ho, and ducked under it. A quick rapier thrust to her side managed to find itself past her ribs. With her internal organs stuck, the fight was all but over. Now Mars just had to remove his rapier, but, the flailing and blood sputtering cultist didn't let him. Mars lost his handle on the weapon. The cultist flew into a wall, and slumped down.

"Ciao." Mars regarded his opponent, and panted, still trying to catch his breath. Before he went to retrieve his rapier, he noticed Vince on the floor. He looked like he was out of sorts. Mars knelt next to Vince and checked his vitals. Then he went to give him a slap across the face. Both their lives where in danger if they paused, at this point.

"Hey, man, you alright?" Mars asked Vince. Mars took the moment to reload his pistol and take a look in either direction, for guards. If there was anytime to get over his fear of guns, it was now. Even if he had to bring s**t up to the surface he hadn't dealt with in a while. Mars finished with his reload. He went to get his other weapon, from the now still, but not quite dead cultist. He placed his boot on her, his grip on the hilt, and pushed down as hard as he could. It was stuck in well, between some ribs, evidently. She grunted weakly at the painful pressure Mars exerted on her.

-

Dennis was struck by Leslie's bold attack. He almost flew from the hit, a few teeth clattered to the floor. Velli took quick action, and with a syringe hidden at the tip of his cane, he aimed at Leslie. With a twist of the knob at the top, he fired it in her direction. It was filled with a sedative that would make her docile, and probably euphoric, even with a knife in her chest; if it hit. It took about a minute to take full effect, however.

Leslie landed with a thump on the pew next to where Dennis had been sitting. “That was for tricking me you...” She stopped. Her eyes widened as she felt a sharp pain in the small of her back. The air rushed from her lunges as she stumbled forward, off the pew. She put a hand against the back of the pew beside her to steady herself as she used the other to feel around on her back. After a moment she finally grasped the needle, and pulled it out. Her face was completely frozen as she looked at the syringe. She slowly turned to see Velli standing with his cane pointed at her. Almost instantly her face changed from shocked and frozen to pure furry.

“You ticked me!!!” She screamed as she turned around, knocking a couple people in the back of the head with the candle stick in the process. “You lied to me! I trusted you, you...poopie head!” Leslie lent back and let out a primal scream causing people to start moving away from her. One pair of extremely short cultists ran away screaming something about a giant rampaging lizard in their home land.

Leslie swung wildly with the candle stick as she advanced, knocking out several cultists as she stumbled towards Velli. “You tricked me!” She swung.

“Dennis tricked me!” She swung again.

“Who else tricked me?! Did Ciphor Pol trick me?!” Leslie let out yet another scream as she swung the candle stick to the side towards the tall skinny cultist and another group of terrified cultists. “Stop trying to trick me!!!” She then glowered in a look of pure rage at Velli as she raised the candlestick over her head. Her arm tensed as she prepared to slam the stick down on top of Velli's head.

The gathered cultists gasped as they saw their leader about to be smashed by the raging girl. Everyone held their breath, waiting. A moment passed. Two moments. Nothing happened. Slowly, Leslie's grip on the candle stick loosened. She stumbled backwards as if the weight of the candle stick was throwing her off balance, despite the fact that she had just taken out so many people with it just a moment before. The candle stick cluttered to the floor as it fell from Leslie's hand. Slowly, the blonde girl's face took on a dreamy look. She smiled. “Look at all the pretty flowers.”

Almost like that, Leslie fell backwards onto the floor, landing with a thump and smiling. “Pixies dancing, lalala...”

-Que Springtime Dream Sequence Music-

Vincent opened his eyes and immediately closed them and brought up his hand to shield them from the glaring light that seemed to be emanating for far above him. "Where am I?" he asked out loud to no one in particular as he got up onto his elbows and looked around with half-closed eyes.

Fields of spring time flowers stretched as far as the eye could see with an occasional tree providing shade to anyone who wanted it. As he looked around Vincent noticed that there was such a tree behind him and immediately scrambled towards the shade. As he sat down with his back against the tree, Vincent noticed a lake just down the hill in front of him, and someone was coming out of it.

It was the most beautiful woman Vincent had ever laid his eyes upon and the fact that she was wearing nothing but a bikini added strongly to this. After getting out of the lake she began making her way up to Vincent, all the while swaying her hips left and right. It was only when she got close that Vincent realized that it was the woman from the Marine house that he had visited a couple of weeks ago, the one that Mars was all gaga for.

"I don't know if this is a dream or not, but I want this to go on forever." Vincent said and returned the lady's sweet smile. Suddenly a blanket with picnic food appeared before Vincent and the beautiful lady sat down on one end of the blanket and waved Vincent over suggestively.

"Now I know this is a dream, but what a good dream this is!" Vincent said as he quickly went over so as to not keep the lady waiting.

-Skip forward some time-

Vincent sighted contently after taking a bite of a chocolate covered strawberry as he laid on his elbows on the blanket with the lady next to him. "This could not get any better." Vincent whispered to the beauty next to him and kissed her. Suddenly someone slapped him on the back in a friendly way and sat down on the other side of him.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Vincent exclaimed in shock as he recognized Mars in the person who sat down, "This is my dream, don't make it into a nightmare!" "Hey, man, you alright?" Mars asked with a hint of worry in his voice. "NOOO!!!" Vincent cried out as the flowers faded and the picnic and the lady disappeared and he was again facing the stone walls of the pasage.

-End Dream Sequence-

Vincent groaned as he got up and clutched at his head. "Good job." Vincent said as he noticed the female cultist lying on the floor. "So what now?" Vincent asked as he followed Mars's example and got his knife from the woman's shoulder.

Mars wrestled his sword from the cultist, propped up against the wall. He wiped it of the blood against her shirt. He considered putting the cultist out of her misery, but had second thoughts. She might still be saved, if the cultists hurried. Mars was more concerned about Leslie, though, at the moment. He wasn't the type to go around saving nobility, not being particularly fond of them, however, there was something about Leslie's innocent demeanor, that told him she wasn't like most nobles.

"Well, we should try and get back our deputy. I don't want to leave her behind. And, we might still be able to get some info on the company, before we escape and all." Mars answered Spirit and idly stroked his still sore neck. Before he left the combat area, he took his chest, and strapped it to the back of his sword holster.

With one hand wrapped around his pistol's butt, and the other around his sword's hilt, Mars followed the hall the guards had dragged Leslie down. Or rather, he crept, as he kept a low profile, and almost slid along the walls. He moved with the unusual focus and determination he displayed with his game face on. Even his steps were surer, with his body tensed and focused. He was a man on a mission.

-

Back in the ritual chamber, Velli simply watched with amusement as Leslie threw a powerful fit. He didn't even flinch when Leslie raised her makeshift weapon to attack him. He merely observed with a wry grin and smiling eyes. The nobles on the other hand gasped and some backed off. When Leslie's hand slackened Velli turned to the crowd.

"I apologize for that, and thank you for you patience." Velli gave them the secret Cult greeting, consisting of displaying one's belly, then both patting one's head, and rubbing one's tummy counter clockwise. Learning this difficult maneuver was typically the first step to being allowed in Velli's exclusive club. The nobles reciprocated. Jones took the opportunity to try to take Leslie in his arms, and place he upon the altar. Velli moved behind it and spread his arms wide.

"Let us begin our prayer for his greatness. Number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine." Velli lowered his head and began to chant. The gathered shortly joined him. Velli raised his sacrificial dagger.

-

Mars peeked around a corner in the hall, as he had heard words being spoken, and made out the nobles greeting each other. He had hoped that with the low light the torches gave off, it would be a simple thing to get the jump on anyone they came across. Unfortunately, the two guards from earlier stood outside the door to the chamber, vigilant to any intruders. He ducked back behind before it looked like either of them saw him. He motioned to Vince, that there were two enemies. Mars did this with two fingers pointed upwards in Vince's direction, and then he drew one across his neck.

It would be very difficult to get the jump on them from this distance. Mars thought for a moment, and then holstered his gun. He took a torch from the wall, and walked back to the corner.

"Alright, on the count of three, we jump em." Mars whispered as low as he could to Vince. "One, two, three!" Mars leaped from his hiding place, and ran towards the guard on the hand side. "For the Mother Land!" Mars shouted and swung his torch like a mad man. The guards were taken aback for a moment. The guard managed to block the torch with his club through pure instinct, when Mars swung it at him.

-

Velli paused for a moment at Mars' shout, and nodded towards Jones, he wanted him to go investigate. Jones had his eyes closed and hummed away the chant, oblivious to the fact that he was needed.

"Pssst. Pssst." Velli tried to get his attention. Jones still didn't react, he was too into his chanting. Velli took a ring from his hand and threw it at his head. This managed to get his attention.

Leslie felt like she was flying as the tall cultist lifted her, and placed her on the alter. Everything seemed so relaxed. Like she was floating on a cloud of cotton candy...only not as sticky.

Vellie stood over her smiling at the assembled cultists. “Today, we are gathered here to honor or g,”

“Pixies in the meadows!” yelled Leslie happily before breaking into a fit of giggles. Velli stared down at her in annoyance, before looking back at the crowd.

“As I was saying, today, we are gathered here to honor,”

“Cupcakes!” yelled Leslie. Velli looked down at her. “I lllllloooove cupcakes.” The blonde then broke out in another fit of delirious giggles leaving Velli even more annoyed.

“As I was,”

“Mary had a little lamb! Little lamb! Little lamb! Mary had a little,”

“Oh, will you be!...” Velli stopped short as her noticed the stares of cultists. He stood up straight, and adjusted his tie before restarting his speech. “Today, we are gathered together...”

Leslie stopped listening, and instead dropped her head back to look towards the cow. “Hi.” said the delirious girl smiling. The cow look worriedly at her for a moment. Leslie stared more intently at the cow. Suddenly, a pink pink cloud of smoke filled the background behind the cow.

“How's it going, eh?!” said the cow in a cheerful voice smiling.

“You can talk?!” asked Leslie.

“Of course I can talk, eh! All cows can talk.”

“They can?!”

“Sure! It's joost that I actually speak the same language you do.”

“Woooooooow. You must be really smart. Where did you learn it?”

“Oh, I didn't learn it. This is a hallucination, eh. I can know any language.”
said the cow smiling.

“Halluci...what?”

“Oh, it means that you're sorta dreamin, eh. Like a daydream, only right now it's because you've drugged.”

“Drugged?”

“Yeah, eh. Doon't cha remember that needle ya pulled out a yur back? It was filled with some kinda loopy juice, eh.”

“Wow. You sure know a lot.” said Leslie in awe.

“Awwww, you're so sweet, eh.”

“Can I ask a question?”

“Shoot.”

“Why do you say 'eh' after every sentence?”

“Oh, that's just my accent, eh. I'm Canadian.”

“Canadian?”

“Yeah, I'm from Canada, eh.”

“Where's Canada? Is it a big island?”

“Canada isn't an island. It's part of North America, eh.”

“Ameri-what?”

“Don't worry, eh. It's somehwhere you'll never have to worry about.”

“Okay.” said Leslie smiling. The cow smiled back.

Meanwhile, in the real world, a yell range out through the chamber as a certain boy in a shell helmet decided to crash the party.

"Well, we should try and get back our deputy. I don't want to leave her behind. And, we might still be able to get some info on the company, before we escape and all." Mars told Vincent and stealthily crept down the hallway in the direction the guards to their "deputy". Trying to imitate Mars's stealth walk, Vincent began making his way down the hall. However, since his recent meeting with wall, Vincent did not move as gracefully or stealthily as Mars.

After stumbling into the wall a couple of times, Vincent decided to stop attempting the stealth approach and just focus on walking in a straight line making as little sounds as possible. Suddenly a hand clasped around Vincent's mouth and pulled him inside a hidden door in the side of the hall.

"Shit!" Vincent thought as he struggled against his unknown assailant. "Eh, what's going on?" the voice inside his head asked groggily. "It would be much easier if you didn't struggle so much." the voice, this time outside his head, said. "Why? Are you gonna rape me?" Vincent asked. "You always were a smart-ass." the voice replied and slapped Vincent on the back of his head, "Now is not the time for jokes. You listen and don't interrupt."

Vincent nodded his head in agreement, recognizing the voice of the assassin he trained under, of course he wasn't happy to hear it but he knew better than to disobey. "Your services are needed once again by the guild. You will find all the details inside the letter." the assassin said and slipped the letter inside Vincent's suit and pushed him out of the doorway and into the wall. When Vincent turned around, the assassin and the door was gone. "Now is not the time to read the letter." Vincent thought and followed Mars to the end of the hallway.

"Alright, on the count of three, we jump em." Mars whispered as low as he could to Vince. "One, two, three!" Mars leaped from his hiding place, and ran towards the guard on the right hand side. "For the Mother Land!" Mars shouted and swung his torch like a mad man. "So much for stealth." Vincent sighed quietly and took aim to throw the knife at the second guard.

However, no matter how hard he tried, Vincent could not aim straight, with the guard and the knife swimming before his eyes. "Ah shit." Vincent cried out and threw the knife. By some miracle the knife found it's target, embedding itself in the leg of the guard on the left. In an attempt to quickly finish the guard off, Vincent rushed him, only to get hit in the left leg by the guard's club as he lay on the ground in pain.

The torch Mars wielded spread embers all over the entrance to the chamber. The club was not set aflame, but smoldered in the jailer's hand. Mars swung his rapier around and cut the foolish jailer, the slash just swiped and opened his hood. Showing one's face was evidently not allowed for cult members below ground. The jailer immediately covered his face with his hands and tried to run away, and Mars let him. He could be heard weeping, as he ran down the hall.

Evidently Mars had misjudged Vince's condition, as he had seen him stumble and get hit, out of the corner of his eye. When he started mumbling to himself again, while lying down, Mars had assumed it was another one of his quirks; like the one upstairs. He made a mental note to make sure Kyte or Jin took a look at him, when they managed to get out. If they managed to get out, that is.

Mars turned to the other foe to his left, and threw his torch in the other jailer's direction. It caught him in the shoulder and he tried to brush off the fire. He did a little dance, as well. The jailer distracted, Mars pulled out his pistol, Pararebello. He wasn't sure he could use it without hitting Vince, but Mars felt it had a dissuading effect.

"Ha! Time to run, fool, before the marines get here!" Mars threatened with something he could not possibly guarantee. The guard merely screamed some unintelligible cultish mumbo-jumbo, and charged Mars. Well, it was more of a limp, with Vince's knife stuck in his leg.

They were a loyal bunch, Mars had to admire that, but, not enough to spare them. Mars thrust his rapier as the jailer blindly charged him. It managed to get the jailer in the leg, the other one. Mars side stepped the jailer's attack and moved his sword towards the ground, and dragged the charging bull with it. He gave him a quick stomp in the head, to make sure he wouldn't be getting back up.

"Please, don't get back up." Mars gave his foe some advice, as he was sometimes wont to do, at least when he wasn't upset with them. Mars took a quick glance back at Vince, he looked in a bad way. But, Mars thought if they tried to run at this point, they would just get chased down. It would be best to deal a few more blows to their enemy before trying to run, in their state. Well, beyond a massive headache, the blow to Mars' head seemed to have cleared up alright. The bleeding, which now covered half his face, had prevented an immediate inflammation.

Mars turned back quickly to the ritual, not wanting to turn his back on his foe. Well, at least it looked like some sort of ritual to Mars, it would of explained a lot, actually. Leslie had evidently postponed what looked to be her sacrifice, by distracting the leader. Well, considering he was the only one not wearing a hood, Mars had to assume he was the leader. Leslie on the other hand didn't seem herself. Perhaps a little too cheery for the situation, at least more so than one would expect, in the type of situation she found herself in. Certainly even more happy than she had been before.

The nobles mostly had their heads down, and were trying to get through the ritual. They all appeared to be in an almost trance like state. But, one person had of course noticed them, a skinny cultist in a butler outfit; and the characteristic blue hood, of course. He crawled along the walls towards Mars and Vince, and had taken back the dagger that Velli wasn't using. Jones thought it would be alright, if he used to kill someone during a ritual, his god might excuse the improper use of his relic. He wasn't visible to Mars yet, as he hadn't stepped into the chamber. Which Mars promptly did, and aimed Pararebello at Velli. Mars felt the best way to help Vince at this point, was take any heat himself.

"Let the girl go, or suffer the consequences of Cipher Pol!" Mars' bold and confident pronouncement caused Jones to pause. Velli was however unfazed, he knew the World Government would never move against them, they were very happy with skimming the profits of their activities. In fact, Velli barely reacted and continued with his ceremony, and Jones continued creep towards Mars from behind. With the chanting, Jone's steps weren't audible to Mars.

Leslie's head lolled to the side after the Ciphor Pole agents grand entrance.

“Oh, look. It's the clam head man. Hiiiiii clam head man!”
said the blond almost managing to wave.

“No, that's the Ciphor Pole agent, eh.” said the cow.

“Who?”

“The guy from earlier, eh. Geez, that shot's really messing with your head.”

“Why is the Swiffer Pool agent here?”
asked the blonde

“I think he's trying to rescue you, eh.”

“Rescue me from what?”

“The guy standing over you with the knife.”

Leslie looked curiously at the cow for a moment before looking up. Sure enough, the fake minister was standing over her holding a knife, and uttering some kind of chant.

“Oh, would you look at that. How fun.” Leslie giggled for a moment as the cow stared at her curiously both in real life and in her delusional fantasy.

“Um, I think he wants to hurt you, eh.”

“Really?” asked Leslie shocked. She then once again broke into a giggles.

“That's not really funny, eh.”

Vincent watched as Mars quickly dispatched the two guards. "Thanks." Vincent muttered to Mars, still to disoriented and in pain to speak clearly. "Let the girl go, or suffer the consequences of Cipher Pol!" Vincent saw Mars stepped out and aimed his pistol at what appeared to be the leader of the cult.

"Shit, I don't do good with outright fighting." Vincent thought as he lay there trying to be as motionless as he could be so as to not attract any attention to himself, so Mars could take most of the heat. Vincent's eyes opened in horror as he saw the skinny cultist making his way towards them, dagger in his hand.

Vincent tried to remain motionless as Jones passed him without a second glance, thinking that Vincent was out of the fight with a bloody head and leg. Vincent smiled as Jones passed him and head towards Mars, who was unaware of Jones due to the cult's chanting. "Never turn your back on me." Vincent whispered and silently got up and crept after Jones, getting his knife out of the fallen guard on the way.

Of course Jones was faster than him and reached Mars when Vincent was good 3 meters away from Jones. "Shit, I won't reach him in time this way." Vincent thought and dashed forward as Jones raised his knife to attack Mars. Vincent managed to get there just in time and grabbed Jones in a bear hug, pinning the arm with the dagger to Jones's side.

"Shouldn't have ignored me you bastard." Vincent whispered in Jones's ear and letting go for a moment, he flipped his knife and plunged it into Jones's chest and dragged it downwards as he took it out and let Jones drop to the ground. "Lets get our "deputy" and get out of here while they're distracted." Vincent said to Mars as the adrenaline from the kill cleared his head.

Mars kept his gun trained at Velli, but looked back at Vince and Jones at the entrance. Vince had just saved his life. An unceremonious and ignoble death. Well, maybe not to the cultists, they would of probably been rather jolly. Either way, Velli was suddenly outnumbered. The nobles had by now noticed the two, and began to panic at the sight of the dead cultist. Sure, they were all for it, when it wasn't one of them. Typical, Mars thought to himself.

"Thanks, bro." Mars said to Vince, a little bit shocked at what had just taken place, and a little unsure as to how the cultist had escaped his sharp eyes. Mars nodded sternly at Vince's mention of the deputy. Velli took Mars' sudden distraction to reload his dart cane, and duck behind the altar. When Mars turned he was gone.

A flash of hesitation and panic flooded Mars. But, he had been through dangerous moments like these before, and turned up on the other side just fine. So, Mars decided a game of hide and seek was in order. He ducked behind some of the pews and walked along the wall, towards the altar. He snatched a few hoods of cultists heads as he went by. A few ran out, and this started a panic with the all rest fleeing. Dennis was also caught up in the tide exiting through the door, opposite the one Vince and Mars had entered on through. The only people left were Mars, Vince, Leslie, Dashiva, Velli, the cow, and a dead or dying Jones.

Mars peeked out over a pew slowly, trying to get a hint as to where Velli was. Mars saw something roll from the altar to the opposite pews, the side everyone had exited from. The hunt was on. Mars squatted and almost crab walked sideways, every time he looked down one of the pews, he expected to see Velli on the other side. He would have to use his pistol at this point. He was more comfortable with it this time, seeing as how there was a very small chance he would hit some random farm animal. Well, the cow was protected by many pews, at least.

With Mars thinking about a few things completely unrelated to the situation at hand, his nerves calmed a bit, but he almost didn't react to seeing Velli opposite him. However, Velli was also distracted, Leslie's babbling with the cow irritated him greatly. To the point where it was tough to keep his mouth shut and tell her to stuff it, in fact. This gave both Mars and Velli plenty of time to notice each other, and had them both raise their weapons at the same time. Mars' hesitation at firing his pistol also allowed Velli extra time to blow into his dart gun-cane. Due to the fact that Mars was unused to firing guns, and the fact that he even closed his eyes at the loud noise and shocking movement his gun made, he only just managed to graze Velli's face. Velli's dart made it into Mars' shoulder, which he almost automatically pulled out, with his rapier hand.

When Mars saw the dart he understood why Velli had put his cane to his mouth. Well, he didn't know what was in the dart, just that Velli didn't actually want to eat or kiss his cane. Mars had only been given a third of the dose, due to his skill in swatting mosquitoes and other bugs that would land on him, or try to land on a still fresh canvas; they very rarely managed to. Mars would be tired and a little dopey, but not out of it like Leslie. Velli on the other hand, assumed Mars knew how to handle his gun, and not knowing how many more bullets were in it, decided to run. Mars wasn't going to stop him.

"Cipher Pol, you alright? Can you walk?" Mars shouted over to Vince once Velli began his retreat. He ran up to Leslie and took the pail of water that had been used earlier on Dahsiva. He held it above her almost as menacingly as Velli had held his knife.

"Sorry to ruin your dress, miss Leslie." Mars proceeded to dump the remaining water on Leslie. He hoped the shock of the cold water would help her get out of her stupor. The cow looked up at Mars and backed away from her treats, fearing a similar treatment. Mars was not much a fan of large animals, he feared them more than the cow feared him. Such big legs, they could probably easily kick him across the room.

"We got to get the hell out of here." Mars continued, to Vince, as much as to Leslie. Velli rushed upstairs, to try and rally any guards to come down and fight the straggling freedom fighters.

As the entire battle scene erupted around Leslie, she was off in her own little world, sitting on a peaceful, white sand beach, and soaking up the best rays of her life. It wasn't until a enormous wave from said beach crashed over her that she finally woke up...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Leslie shot up sputtering as the Chiphor Pol agent dumped the water over her. She gasped as the cold chilled her right to the bone, and kicked her brain back into full functionality.

“Man the life boats!!!” shouted Leslie. She frantically began looking around, trying to remember where she was. She looked for about thirty seconds before it all came back to her. She swung her head around, and found exactly who she was looking for.

“There you are!” She suddenly turned over to get a better look at the object of her searching only to fall off the alter and land straight on her face. “Ow.” She lie there only for a moment before scrambling up to give her target a hug.

“I'm so glad you're safe.” said Leslie gently. The cow mooed contently in response before nuzzling Leslie in return. The two hugged for a moment more before Leslie pulled away, and turned to stand and face the Ciphor Pol agent.

She smiled at him for a moment before swinging her leg back as far is it would go, and aiming a power packed kick at his private quarters. “That's for ruining my dress!!!” She screamed angrily shaking her fist. She then immediately slammed into him with a big hug. “And that's for saving me.” She hugged the Ciphor Pole agent for a moment before letting go. “Thank you.”

She smiled sweetly before turning to grab the nearest candle stand. “Now let's get out of here before they capture us again.” She bent to untie her new cow friend, and started leading her towards the stairs. The cow had just enough time to snap up the last of her sweets before proceeding to follow Leslie. The blond headed girl then turned to glare at the two agents.

“Anyone try and stop me from saving the cow, and I'll kick them so hard between the legs that that every male within half a mile will feel it , kay?”
Leslie continued to give the two a fierce death stare before smiling at them brightly, and proceeding to go towards the stairs. The cow snorted at the two before following.

Vincent chuckled as the nobles became agitated and in a very short while a full-on panic ensued with nobles running all around the place to find the door out of the chamber. Eventually they found it and in a quickly and orderly fashion exited the chamber. So all that were left was him, Mars, Leslie, the cult leader, the dead cultist, and for some reason a cow.

Soon a shoot-off ensued between Mars and the cult leader, a gun against a tricked out cane. With the initial adrenaline having worn off, Vincent began to feel all his injuries. "Man, will I be glad when this party is finally over," Vincent said jokingly to no one in particular as he sat down on one of the pews and closed his eyes.

"Cipher Pol, you alright? Can you walk?" Vincent heard Mars call out, most likely to him. "Yeah." Vincent replied and got up just in time to see the cult leader run out and Mars dump water all over Leslie, only to receive a kick in the nuts and then a hug for his efforts.

Vincent nodded his head at the idea to get the out of here and smiled at Leslie's threat about the cow. "No one will try to stop you." Vincent said to Leslie with a smile and bowed down, "I'll even help you and protect it with my life." Before Leslie could object, Vincent joined her on the other side of the cow.

Mars watched half amused as Leslie struggled with the quick transition from a half asleep world to this one. Leslie seemed to have more love for large, even toed ungulates than he did. The cow and her seemed to take comfort in each others' presence.

Vince confirmed his ability to leave, and things were starting to look up. Mars would be glad to leave the dungeon, and the mess they had been tossed into. He was a leopard, and he needed to find a tree, in this harsh savanna know as Trunk's Estate. He only found a foot in the groin. He had difficulty appreciating the wet hug that followed, as he was rather busy trying not to collapse. It was only breathing like woman in labor, that stopped this from happening.

"Cipher Pol can reimburse you... for the dress." Mars mentioned as way of apology, after a few seconds of the initial shock. Whatever amount of sedative was making it's way through Mars, was also temporarily negated. As Mars attempted to compose himself, Vince and Leslie led the cow upstairs. He was no position to stop anyone from doing anything, and despite his fear of the cow, he didn't want to leave it with the cultists either. The cow seemed to be of the same mind. Mars tried walking for a moment, and then stopped again. The now familiar dull ache had set in. He waved his two comrades off with one hand, the other on his twice injured importance.

"Yeah, you guys go on ahead... I'm going to make sure... no one is following us. Secure the premises... and all that." Mars grunted and wheezed out, in bits and pieces. He noticed Jones lying on the floor. With the other two gone, he decided to do some quick ghoulish theft. He couldn't leave empty handed, that would be a disgrace for a first mission. He found a piece of paper, it looked like some sort of member charter, a few coins of beli, and some pocket lint. It wasn't much of a take.

Recovered slightly, Mars took a look around the chamber. The eyes of the statue looked valuable, he went over to see if he could pry them out. Holding them in his hand, they felt pretty tight in there. He didn't want to damage his rapier, so he took a candle stick, and bashed the eyes a couple times. Four times the charm, and Mars pocketed two nice sized gems.

He didn't want Leslie and Vince worrying about him, but he had one last thing to do. He opened up his case and took out his brush and paint. He deftly painted a handlebar mustache on the statue. After all, he had promised Dennis a painting if he lost the bet, which he technically did. He signed it with:

Consider this your consolation prize, Denny.
-Mars

With the hurried scrawling done, Mars bounded up after the three. The stairs seemed to lead up to another secret passage. This one opened into the greenhouse, though. A conspicuous looking bookshelf rotated, by pulling an unlit torch in the wall, as a means of conveyance. The greenhouse had a door to the outside, conveniently close to the carriage stables.

Velli and Dennis had barricaded themselves upstairs already, and a few Guards had been dispatched through the art gallery entrance, to tend to the wounded, and chase the intruders. Mars left just before they walked into the chamber, and saw the mess it had been left in. Flo had managed to hide in some bushes outside, after she saw a fire from outside, and assumed something had gone wrong. She still wanted the doo-dad Mars had promised her, she wasn't going anywhere.
