Mars' Lair -

Mars had spent most of the days after the incident at Sam's house, back in the Hotel Hobo. He had devised a rather nice setup in the building's cellars. He had painted a few generic pirate glyphs on the walls leading down into it, he hoped it would be enough to prevent the locks he had put on from getting messed with. He made sure to keep anything important on him, and not in his hideout just in case, though. The worst that could happen if someone discovered it, is they might trash it again.

Most of the time Mars spent there he simply cleaned up, he made sure the various vermin infesting the area didn't have any hiding places, or food lying about. The cellars themselves were rather expansive, it took awhile from him to even fully explore all it's rooms and ends. He had managed to find another entrance to a conjoined building, it seemed it had once been part of the same complex. Some rather large drains he opened also led into a tight space that he had crawled in. The constricted tunnel eventually led into the city's sewer system, conveniently large enough to walk through.

Mars tried to avoid that area, as he had heard tales of a lizard man in the sewers. Whether it was true or an exaggeration of an existing tale, it was unsafe enough to be trudging through Loguetown's drains. With all the rainy weather he could find himself quickly submerged, and sent barreling into the sea. It would provide a useful manner of escape in a spot of trouble, though.

Mars' Organization -

Another thing Mars had done was go over the trip in the bathroom and the vivid dream he had experienced afterward. As much as he had tried escaping his past at the bottom of a bottle, it hadn't really done much. The trip and the dream afterward had pushed him to come to terms with things. Thinking about it hadn't done much, either.

The secret letter had at least given Mars something to do, though. Before recruiting a larger group that was capable of mass actions, he needed to form a core cell. The one he would personally operate in. At least that's the way the Barcelona Boys had been so successful at evading capture. But he couldn't really even start that, not without a proper name. Before he slipped into sleep on the fifth night, his thoughts turned to his reversed sentence on Anolecrab, specifically the judge's comments.

"These trouble makers are nothing less than Madmen! And they want nothing more than to spread this Insanity to all other sectors of society. As a Gatekeeper of society, it is the job of our system of Justice to excise these dangerous Cancers from our societies. Therefore, I sentence this Agent, this despicable Agent of Madness, who undoubtedly sees himself as Gallant, to Death!"

That was it! An ironic use of the judge's comments would provide the perfect name. 'The Insane Cancers'? No, the 'Gallant Cancers', or the 'Dangerous Agents of Death'! Hmmm, no. Maybe the 'Gallant Agents of Insanity'? Yes, that was the ticket! Wait, maybe 'Madness' instead of 'Insanity'? The 'Gallant Agents of Madness'! It had the right mix of humor and seriousness, and it sounded bad ass. Mars even preferred it over the 'Barcelona Boys'.

The next step was working out people Mars could try to recruit. All the homeless people he had met in the past few days wouldn't be that trustworthy. Maybe Mars' drinking buddy from earlier could be an interesting companion? He couldn't tell Jin it wasn't a pirate crew, though. Too dangerous for the both of them. Samantha had proved her strong moral fiber and skills on the Lube an Ass, as well. It was too dangerous for someone her age, but she might just end up following them anyways. And he was still keeping a romantic correspondence with Sam's mother. Maybe, if Mars saved Sam again, Anna might come around and dump that geeky husband, she would be nice to have around. He wasn't right for her, anyways.

Kyte had proved useful, his medical skills would come in handy just as much as Jin's. Revolutionaries and pirates didn't usually frequent hospitals, after all. Vincent's skills intrigued him, as well. But he was so far an unknown factor, Mars thought he might have to keep an eye on him.

Mars' Preparations -

Mars had inquired about the mysterious piece of the Logian East Blue Trade Company charter and the substance they had found in the sacks, among some of his homeless contacts. They had told him about smuggling operations that took place below the streets of Loguetown. It was evidently the Trade Company took the 'Red Bout' into the town, they somehow distributed it from the city's drains. Some of the homeless people had been pushed out from the sewers by warring gangs, in fact.

Considering that both Kyte and Jin had both wanted to be pirates, Mars deemed it would be appropriate to send them after the smugglers. He would rather keep a closer eye on Vincent, he would help him track down more high ranking employees of the company. Kyte and Jin's mission would be to find the way the drugs made it from the ships, to the sewers. Maybe make off with some cash, as well. There might even be a smuggler's HQ underneath Loguetown. They would be in harm's way a lot in his revolutionary cell/pirate crew, so if they managed to do well, they would be perfect for it.

It would also be a PR coup. If they managed to show that vigilante pirates put a dent in the smuggler's operations, people might be more willing to criticize the WG and the Marines more openly. The drug had devastated many areas of Loguetown, it had taken it's toll on those most vulnerable. The authorities themselves had tried and failed to wage war on the gangs that had proliferated from selling the 'Red Bout' and other illicit substances.

After Mars experimented with the drug some more in private, he devised a way to mix into his paints. It was potent enough to be able to effect people from a distance, as long as they inhaled it's noxious fumes. He also managed to steal one of those ship painting brushes that would of been of use during the Lube's renaming. That was one item he did keep back at the hideout, though, it was too large and noticeable to be lugged about.

As far as the actual Trade Company itself, Mars used the local art scene to ask around for possible patrons. If he was right about the drug link, that meant the owners had more beli than they knew what to spend on. They would most likely be funneling as much money as they could into expensive purchases, to try and launder the money. Art was the perfect excuse for this, as it could even appreciate, and artists starving for food or fame didn't mind the origins of the cash.

After visiting several bars frequented by his kind, he had indeed found some art buyers from the company. He bought some rounds at the bohemian tavern, Beat's Beers, and even managed to find an address. Evidently Dennis Trunk, of the Trade Company, was hosting some sort of social event, later in the week.

Mars did a quick recon of the neighborhood, it looked like one of the nicer areas of Loguetown. In fact, he stood out on foot, everyone seemed to travel by carriages through the streets. The actual house looked more like an estate than the apartments that filled most of town. He tried to get in, saying he was an appraiser with an appointment. It didn't work, they had very tight security. He did manage to get a ride back to town in a horse and buggy, though, during which he struck up a conversation with the driver, Flo.

With the details of the ball filled out by the courteous driver, Mars made preparations to infiltrate it. Security would be laxest during the party, when they would be stretched thin and the appearance of strangers in different areas of the mansion would be unremarkable.

Mars then made a stop at one of the nicer Haberdasheries in town, 'Milo's Brasher Haberdasher', also suggested by the Flo. They took all his measurements for a doublet, trunkhose, cod piece, stockings, fancy pointed shoes, a frilly neck scarf, and a feathered cap. They told him it would be ready for to pick in 3 days time. He made sure to tip the driver well, he would probably need her services later.

The Night before the Ball:

Mars came back to the Haberdasher on the third night, before it was open. With his cloak on he snuck into the alleyway behind the shop. It was a simple thing for him to pick the lock on the rear exit, he used a bit of wire and a knife he had taken from a restaurant. It looked like one of those shops where people lived up above, he assumed that was where they worked, as well. As long as they were sound sleepers or weren't finishing something up, it would be a simple burglary.

Mars crept in the rooms behind the actual shop. For a minute or two he waited silently, to see if he heard any noise, or to see if someone had heard his entrance. Confident he was still undiscovered, he closed the door behind him, and lit a small candle he had carried with him. He was tempted to start looking for any Beli lying about, but thought better of it, and stuck to the mission.

Mars found what appeared to be some cubby holes for employees in one of the smaller rooms, looked like a employee closet. One of the employee uniforms would be perfect for Vince's outfit. In the candle's flickering light, he rummaged through the men's uniforms until he found one that looked Vince's size and stuffed it into his trusty satchel. With that off the checklist, he continued on.

A sudden noise startled Mars when he was a few feet from the shop entrance from behind the counter.

*Beru beru beru! Beru beru beru!* A Den Den Mushi rang off practically right next to Mars' head. After he jumped out of himself, he heard muttering and commotion from upstairs. He jumped into the store itself and hid among a rack of coats. The seamstress who walked on down, seemed too tired to notice the clothes that shook after Mars bounded into them. He had dropped the candle on the way over to his hiding place, it's light had extinguished.

The employee seemed to know her way around in the dark and fumbled for a light switch when she got to the bottom of the stairs. Mars shut his eyes to the light and hoped there was nothing sticking out of the coats.

The woman answered the Den Den with a very irritated tone of voice. The way Mars understood it, an employee of the store had forgotten to move the Den Den upstairs before closing for the night. It sounded like she had been talking to her employer, or maybe someone who had been confirming an order.

After she ended the conversation she slammed the receiver back on the little snail and took it with her, on the way back to bed. She noticed the dropped candle on the floor and mumbled angry things about the other employees. She went over to pick it up, but didn't notice Mars. Finished with that, she pirouetted towards the stairs, and turned the light off when she went by the switch.

By the direction the seamstress had pointed in, during the heated part of the exchange, it seemed all the custom orders were kept behind the main counter, were the Den Den had been. Mars let a little while for the light from the street's lamps, outside the shop's front windows, to become visible to his eyes. He then made his way back out of the coats slowly. He tip-toed over to the counter and made his way behind it. He lifted up the different boxes, and examined the names on them, until he found the alias he had given.

Happy he had found his prize and not been caught, Mars made it back out Milo's Brasher Haberdasher, and into the thief's most comfortable time of day, nighttime.

It has been three weeks since Vincent met up with the rag-tag group of pirates and went to the Marine family's house. During that time, Vincent noticed Mars has been busy at Hotel Hobo working on something big. As much as Vincent wanted to find what Mars was up, he figured that Mars would tell him when the time came.

For the first two weeks, Vincent did not return to Hotel Hobo, but traveled around Loguetown, searching for more material to finish building his new type of grenade since most of his material was blown up right before he met the group. The problem was that the material was hard to come by so it was kind of expensive and Vincent was running low on funds, having spent most of it on the last batch of materials.

For the first week, Vincent walked around all over Loguetown, talking to various sources that he met up with during his four months here, trying to find where he could find some more material. After a couple of false leads, Vincent finally found a lead that would most likely turn out to be promising.

Vincent spent the next week scouting out the location where the source told Vincent, the material was gonna be. Since the material was highly explosive and produced a lot of smoke, it was kept on the outskirts of town just in case if it exploded, it wouldn't cause too much damage. Thanks to that, Vincent reasoned that it wouldn't be too hard to sneak in during the night and steal some material for his research. Vincent waited until a cloudy and rainy night to sneak into the warehouse and walked away with about 10 kilograms of material, enough to make 100 grenades, traveling back to a "new" apartment in Hotel Hobo.

A few days before the ball, Mars informed Vincent that he was planning on infiltrating a high-end ball, but would not give him any details. Vincent did not press on with the topic, sure that Mars would give him enough information when the time would come.

Mars sat in the back of the horse and buggy he had rented, Flo at the reins. Loguetown really looked different from up on a construction of wood, pulled by draft animals. He hadn't been able to get proper horses on such short notice, and had settled for mules. Yet, despite the imperfections, the sun even shone a little brighter, from atop his new ivory tower.

Mars himself looked very different than when Vince had last seen him. He looked all the part of a noble. He had been taking showers regularly after the events in Sam's house. The accumulated grime had been washed off, his skin appeared to have lightened a shade or two. He had also fashioned an extension to his facial hair with one of the many rats he had killed, they had pieces of wax underneath for stuffing in his nostrils. He had trimmed the hair into a fine mustache and soul patch. A monocle finished off his disguise, along with the outfit he had procured last night. His shoulder length hair he had stuffed into his cap. He also made sure to look at everything from the bridge of his nose, as a proper blue blood should.

The two things missing from Mars' preparations were his assistant and an actual invitation. He had toyed with the idea of forging one, but had decided it would be simpler to take one, from one of the many party-goers that would start arriving in a few hours. His assistant he was in the process of picking up. They arrived at the corner of Fifth and Akainu, the street corner Vince and Mars had agreed upon.

"Alright Flo, we're here, now we just look for a guy wearing all white, maybe with a gas mask on." Mars instructed his driver. He had obtained a disguise for Vince, but if the all white suit he was wearing wasn't dirty, they could probably go with that. He was sure the mask would draw attention though, so he had made sure to get an extra monocle mustache combination. He wasn't sure how attached to the mask he was, though.

"Rightio, guvnah. A mighty strange geht up, that is." Flo responded. She flashed a smile back at Mars, teeth looking like they crashed into each other. The two of them proceeded to scan the crowd of what now felt like simpletons. Flo wasn't aware of things he had stowed aboard, or the way they would procure the invitation. The details were on a need to know basis, for now. Flo was in on crashing the party, though. Evidently, not many of the staff of this particular fop were very loyal. No one he had spoken to had been straight to him about it. They all agreed he payed well, though.

Since Mars mention they would go to the ball, Vincent decided that it would probably be a good idea to come up with something that would hide his scars when he went to the ball without his mask. After a couple of failures trying to come up with a paste, Vincent finally had a breakthrough. By mixing a slew of chemicals, Vincent managed to come with a paste that would hide his scars for a maximum of three or four hours.

After making sure his suit was as clean as it could be, Vincent hid a couple of throwing knifes and a gas grenade on his person, put on the paste, and set out to the predetermined meeting place between him and Mars, leaving his mask at home. "You should have brought your gas mask since you took a grenade with you," the voice said. "Don't worry," Vincent said out-loud as he walked to the meeting place, "the gas is only distributed for 3 seconds, while the effects last for much longer, so as long as I'm not there when the grenade goes off, I should be alright."

"Do you really think that we should help Mars infiltrate the ball," the voice continued as Vincent walked towards the meeting place. "Well, we will probably get money out this," Spirit answered, "so it's fine." As soon as Vincent approached the meeting place, he noticed that Mars wasn't there yet, but there was a weird coach that was pulled mules parked near the meeting place.

Mars and Flo continued to scan the crowd and Fifth and Akainu, a posh shopping district, close to where Mars had actually stolen his current outfit. Not too close.

"Ah there he is!" Mars shouted. He waved over to Vince, seeing if he would notice him in his disguise. For good measure, he threw a coin over to him. That usually got people's attention, Mars thought. Jesus, he was already starting to think like the 'Man'. Mars checked himself. Must of been all the trips he had been taking recently, Mars felt discombobulated.

But it had given Mars good material for future paintings. He just didn't know what style he might use. He had taken to experimenting with not just his new found crazy paint, but also his old styles. So far, all he had come up with was forms of stylistic vandalism, not much beyond the scrawls that covered the Hotel Hobo. But, he found it a promising vein, and would continue to explore it. Something would come to him, eventually.

If Vince hadn't noticed just yet he would take off the monocle and cap and start to shout in Vince's direction. He motioned to his wrist, as if they were on a schedule.

"It has been so long since I felt a wind on my face," Vincent said to himself as he stood near the meeting place. "Yeah, but how long is that gonna last," the voice replied, "you better have some more of that paste considering it lasts only a few hours, and the ball will last more than a few hours." "Don't worry," Vincent said, "I brought some with me, so don't worry so much."

"Mars should be here already," Vincent said out loud. He then heard someone shouting for him and heard a coin drop. Vincent turned around and picked up the coin and looked where it came from. As he walked towards the carriage, Vincent recognized Mars sitting in the back seat.

"Nice disguise Mars, I almost did not recognize you," Vincent said as he got into the carriage. "So where is this ball gonna take place and what are we going to do there?" Vincent asked, curious since Mars did not give him any details beforehand.

"Oh, where is that we're going?" Mars shifted his weight towards Flo and asked. He stuffed his hair back into his cap, and traced the edge of it, to make sure no stray hairs poked out. He had forgotten the name of the area they were in, already, and the one they were going to. The neighborhood they were in was pretty foppish, but they were about to head into the lion's den of fop.

"Our aim is the estate of one Dennis Trunk, milord." Flo used her proper noble voice and corrected her posture for the statement, she giggled afterward. With a sharp 'Ha!' Flo got the mules started off in the right direction. Mars had made sure to make extra fake mustaches as well, for the mules and Flo. The disguise wasn't necessary for them, but the wax nostrils were.

"Looks like all those speech lessons payed off, milady. We're not that far." Mars added and smiled himself, leaned back into his seat. He didn't know the names of either the area of town they were on, or the one they were towards.

It was short ride before the horse and buggies dominated the streets. The only people on foot were a few cleaners, making sure the horses didn't have to step in their own poo. They made a turn and found themselves on the street they were headed to.

"Oh, here Vince, you'll need one of these. Plug your nose with the wax." Mars handed out his wax nostril plugs/fake mustaches. He hadn't been able to make mustaches according to hair color, most of the rats he had caught were just a dull shade of grey. So, he had just painted over their original color. A bright orange one to match Flo, whose already manly driving outfit helped conceal her womanly identity. The mules got their own. And Vince a fancy white one. Mars plugged his own nose with the mustache already attached to his face.

"Well, wot do I du with dese extrah big uns?" Flo inquired, she held both examples up.

"Just put them on the mules." Mars responded. Flo froze at the suggestion, but when given a hurry up motion, she did as told. Mars got out his noxious hallucinogenic paint out of the case under his seat. When everyone was equipped, he opened it and took a brush out with him. Flo hopped back on and restarted their journey. They began to approach another carriage on the cobbled street.

"Stop beside that buggy, and ask for directions." Mars leaned over to Flo and requested. The carriage they stopped next to was one of those covered buggies. It was being pulled by what were either domesticated zebras, or perhaps painted horses.

"Oi, me man, know 'ow to get to da Trunk Eh-state?" Flo asked the other driver. The driver told her to just follow him, that they were headed there themselves. Lucky first try! At this point, Mars got up and ready to jump into the other carriage, his paint brush dripped with his clear, psychic weapon.

"Dennis Trunk, huh," Vincent mumbled to himself as they continued they drive towards their destination. "Do you know him," the voice asked. "I'm not entirely sure, but I think that he might be the owner of the warehouse that we robbed couple of days ago," Vincent answered. "Doesn't really matter if he is or not, we came in the middle of night so nobody should have seen us." "Still, we shouldn't get close to him for the time being."

"Oh, here Vince, you'll need one of these. Plug your nose with the wax," Mars said handing Vincent a fake mustache with a wax plug. Vincent was not entirely sure why Mars wanted him to put was in his nose, but he assumed that Mars knew best. The wax in his nose was uncomfortable but nothing that Vincent couldn't handle.

Vincent watched as Mars got his paintbrush and a can of paint out of his bag and got ready to jump to a carriage. As soon as Mars got the can of paint out, Vincent felt a familiar sensation welling up inside him, the sensation of something that should not have been there. "Damn, go back you freak, don't you dare try to take over my body!" Vincent silently yelled at the voice. "Hey watch it, I'm not doing anything," the voice yelled back. "Then what's going on?" "You only started to hallucinate when Mars pulled out that strange container of paint, so that must be the cause." "I'll deal with it later, for now, don't try anything."

Mars wasn't sure if the other zebra's driver noticed him jump aboard his carriage, it was to the right of Flo's. He sneaked around the back, and grabbed handholds as he went. From the back window, he saw the back of two fancy looking heads. They looked like husband and wife, one with a tall feathered hat, the other with some sort of top hat. He swung around the other side, and appeared on the right side of the wife. The carriage had doors, but the windows were free of glass, just some drapes hung over them. He stood on the step up to the body of the vehicle. With one hand he pulled back the curtain, the other he wiped paint over the eyes of older lady. The wife cried out in alarm.

"Huh!? Rapscallion!" The nobleman turned around, he had been looking out his own window at Flo, but still managed to grab Mars' arm before he could withdraw. The nobleman unsheathed a dagger from his belt with the other hand and went to stab Mars. The man's grip was pretty strong. Mars leaped up and braced his feet against the door, and pushed against it as hard as he could. He managed to slip free, but fell hard against the street.

The driver had noticed the commotion and got down, he wielded his riding crop in one hand. Flo noticed what had happened and took out her own crop, a crop duel began. Thankfully, Flo was still atop her own buggy, and held the upper ground. The nobleman disembarked at this point, as well. He came round the back of the carriage, his back turned to Mars' mule and buggy.

"We'll see what happens to you, when the Marines arrive!" The bearded noble shouted in challenge. Mars just chuckled, everything was going as planned. Mars was back on his feet by the time they faced each other. The woman in the carriage began to cry out, the drug had already taken effect on her. As long as everyone on board were drugged, they would have quite a time explaining what happened to them. The 'Red Bout' was a scoundrel's drug, not the sort of thing the upper crust could be seen using. The only problem might be witnesses who had seen his original attack, but, so far, no one had stepped forward to intervene.

"Come on! Move yah bloomin' arse!" Flo shouted at Mars. She hadn't really signed up for robbery. She was about ready to start moving on, herself.

Vincent watched as Mars jumped onto the back of the carriage next to them. "I wonder what he's up too?" he thought to himself as Mars swung around the back of the carriage to the window on the other side. "What kind of paint was that," Vincent's thoughts wondered. "I'm not sure," the voice chimed in, "but stay away from it unless you want a complete psychological breakdown."

Vincent's thoughts were interrupted by a woman's scream. As he turned his attention towards the carriage, he saw Mars on the ground as well as the driver and a nobleman, with a woman screaming inside the carriage. "What the hell did you do?" Vincent exclaimed as the nobleman threatened to call the Marines. Vincent reached into his jacket and grasped the handle of one of the throwing knifes just in case he needed to fight. He was startled by Flo yelling very close to his ear, "Come on! Move yah bloomin' arse!". He couldn't agree more.

Mars had left his rapier on board his own buggy. He was facing the noble man with just his brush. He did what any sensible person does when faced with that situation, he ran into the carriage with the hysterical old woman. This of course, caused the noble man to rethink his priorities.

"'Ell of a gent, you ah, mista white! Leavin' a lady ta fend for 'erself!" Flo managed to squeak out when the other driver went to assist the noble woman in the carriage.

The older lady in the carriage seemed to think Mars was her grandfather, must of been a painter, or something. She didn't react well to the other two, when they came in. Mars promptly decided it was too crowded, and left out the door. Mars didn't make it to the street, he hung off the side of the carriage, out of sight of the window. The driver announced it was time to make a run for it. The noble man still sounded like he still wanted blood, and Mars could hear him struggle to try and get to the other side of his wife. Mars took the opportunity to reach his paint arm in once again, and dab the nobleman's eyes.

Mars popped back out again, and waited on the far side of the door. The driver managed to get past both of the now struggling nobles, and out the other door, on Mars' side. Mars took the opportunity and left his leg out, it caused the driver to trip, and tumble from the carriage's step. He jumped on to him and dabbed his face, now all to be done was take the invitations. Mars hoped they hadn't gotten too crumpled.

The zebra-horses had another idea, the irritation about had gotten too much for their previously patient demeanor. The mules just looked at them with displeasure at the undisciplined fuss they mounted. One of them managed to kick free, and ran down the street. The other quite couldn't, but still managed to start to turn the carriage away from him, as he pulled with all his weight against one side.

Mars timed his jump and managed to get on the carriage once again. The two nobles seemed to be arguing about something. He dove into the cramped compartment once more.

"Give me the invitations and it' all over!" Mars tried to reason with the hallucinating nobles.

"U'll neva git 'em!" The nobleman man shouted at Mars in a child's voice. He clutched his chest, he held the invitations dear. Mars couldn't see the knife anywhere, he assumed it had dropped to the floor. He took the opportunity to slap him. The nobleman's eyes began to well up with tears. He began to apologize profusely. Mars just reached into his coat and took the invitations, crumpled up as they had become.

A few police men had been called, by a maid who had seen the scuffle mid-way, they just turned the corner as Mars was getting back on his carriage. He made sure to straighten himself up as they approached the carriage. He began his act of being attacked by irresponsible drug-takers. He pointed to the Zebras, as well, as proof of the irresponsibility of those nobles. As one of the police men approached the other carriage, the driver rose up, and attacked him with his crop.

"Please, vacate the premises while we deal with the situation. Come by the station later, we can sort all this nasty business out then." The non-fighting officer announced to the trio. He then turned with his club, ready to start beating the driver who had attacked his partner.

"Your a heaven send, officers." Mars tipped his hat, and motioned to Flo to continue on her way.

Vincent watched the scuffle ensue between Mars, the driver of the other carriage and the nobleman. However, Mars seemed to have everything under control. Vincent took his hand of the throwing knife and sat down in the carriage to watch the spectacle. Vincent chuckled as Mars made fools of the driver and the nobleman by jumping in and out of the carriage, painting the driver and nobleman's eyes with his weird paint.

Just after Mars managed to get the invitation from the flailing couple, the police showed up to take care of the problem. Vincent chuckled again as the trio drove away while the police took care of the nobles and the driver. "So," Vincent asked Mars, "what are we going to do at the ball when we get there?"

Mars, Vince and Flo arrived in front of the grand estate. It was difficult to see over the walls, even from their elevated position. But, behind the thick stone walls topped with iron spikes, was a lush garden. In between two halves of garden, a gravelly path led to the building itself, it ended in a semi circle at the front entrance. The actual distance between wall and edifice measured about 200 feet, the building consisted of three stories, all with an ornate facade and large, tall windows. The building appeared to be about 250 feet in width, it had two wings of one story on both sides.

Two guards stood in full dress regalia at both sides of a large set of doors at the front of the building, they were armed with elegant and polished halberds. Outside the large iron and open gate stood another four guards, dressed and armed in a similar fashion. All six stood motionless, and unblinking. A series of greeters ushered in guests at the front steps at the main entrance, they also appeared to be involved in security. The guards outside seemed to be letting all carriages in, there was a small line that had formed, it consisted of four buggies, all waited to enter.

Mars had taken the time to try and remedy his appearance. The dust had been brushed off his back, he had found horse crap on his nice shoes, most of it was off. His monocle reattached and his mustache readjusted, he looked the part of a noble again.

"Well, the drugged paint you just saw me use, came from some drugs we found aboard a boat, right before I met you. It was being transported by a man who worked for the same company as the man who is hosting this party. If we can find the person in charge, we can score some serious beli, that even the marines don't know about. We can split it down the middle." Mars expounded on his reasoning behind the crash, and smiled. He wasn't actually sure if the Marines didn't know about the drugs or not. It would however have explained their inability, to stem it's tide. But, he dismissed the thoughts as paranoia.

"Well, I can say dat doesn't suprise mai in the least. Lord Trunk olways gave mai creepy skin, 'e did! I 'ave a good nose fer these tings. But, plase don't be 'urtin any more nobs, it's bad fer business. A gurl's got ta werk, after oll." Flo added her own two pence and chided Mars for his violence.

"Yeah, I'm sorry Flo. That didn't go as smoothly as I had anticipated. I'll make sure to steal a loverly sparkling trinket, for my princess. Oh, and evidently, I am Baron von Richt of Fen. Well, after I make a few slight changes to this invitation." Mars held up his entry card. Flo smiled at his flattery and promise of a gaudy gem. Mars dabbed a few of his hairs in some black paint he had brought, and he made some slight changes in the calligraphy to effect a name change. Baron von Richthofen turned into Baron von Richt of Fen. A redundant name, but Mars was not familiar with the dialect of the Baron.

"The other invitation is for my wife, but I guess you might pass off as my retainer, or maybe an in Law?" Mars addressed Vince. Mars motioned to Flo to go past the gate, she turned and with a sharp 'Ha!' the trio began their infiltration.

Vincent looked in awe at the enormous house that sprawled out behind the fence they were riding along. "Well, the drugged paint you just saw me use, came from some drugs we found aboard a boat, right before I met you. It was being transported by a man who worked for the same company as the man who is hosting this party. If we can find the person in charge, we can score some serious beli, that even the marines don't know about. We can split it down the middle," Mars said as they were approaching the gate where four buggies stood in line to enter the estate.

"Hallucinogenic drugs, huh," Vincent thought to himself as they waited in line. "Wasn't there a ship wreck on your island around the time I appeared?" asked the voice. "Now that you mention it, I think there was. I even remember the authorities saying not to approach the ship because it was dangerous. I thought it was a prisoner ship, so I went to look. I guess I was wrong, even though I did not come very close to the ship," Vincent said answered. "Looks like I have some thing to thank him for," Vincent chuckled silently and a smile spread across his lips.

"The other invitation is for my wife, but I guess you might pass off as my retainer, or maybe an in Law?" Mars asked Vincent looking at the invitation. "There's no law stating that I can't be your wife," Vincent joked, "but if I have to be you're retainer, so be it."

The mule driven coach settled among the others in line. The animals already set the group apart. But, with the infallible disguises the occupants wore, what could possibly go wrong?

The system used to usher in guests was, the invitees walked up to the greeters, their names were announced, then they moseyed on in. The front greeter himself seemed to be unconcerned with the announcement of all these important people, he was one of those, too cool for school servants.

It was impossible to notice from outside, but, the building itself was much deeper than the facade suggested. The main door emptied into a majestic foyer, with two grand staircases leading up to the second floor. In between the staircases, a portal opened directly into the grand ballroom. Adjacent that room, were several annexes, mostly dens and miscellaneous living space.

Clockwise from the left side the rooms included; a gaming hall, a larger dining room, two lounges, a gallery and art showcase room, a smaller dining room, and one last lounge. The dining room led into the kitchen, which was also connected to the laundry room. They both had staircases to get to the second floor. On the other side, the wing led into a greenhouse and sun room, with the bathrooms right next door. Most of the rooms on the first floor had high ceilings, befitting the stature of it's owners. The walls were riddled with hidden passageways for staff to get in and out without being seen.

Mars and Flo both laughed at Vince's Jest, it helped calm Mars' nervous tummy. He stopped himself from laughing before he drew too many stares. It wasn't proper for a man of his gravity to guffaw, evidently. At least not without having imbibed in a social setting. Mars was very irritated at having to wait, it didn't help his nerves at all. He turned to conversation, as he usually did to deal with his anxiety.

"Well, I guess we can try and get to the second floor, they will probably have valuables and important documents stored up there. Or, we can try and chat people up, try and dredge up some intelligence." Mars idly whispered some his ideas for the actual operation, half to Vince, half to himself.
