By the time L'Esule had gotten to Loguetown, stars filled the sky. The overloaded boat had ran into trouble getting back, the wind had been against them. If it wasn't for the sailors taking turns rowing, it would have taken even longer. Sam's condition taking a turn for the worse had prompted this action. When they had all docked, hunger and thirst dispersed the other sailors quickly. Despite Mars' assurance that they would go to a hospital, Jin had taken it upon himself to heal her himself.

They had taken the unconscious young girl to perhaps, what was the opposite of a hospital. In terms of cleanliness, at least. In his explorations of the town, Mars had found a particular area festering with denizens, disease and drugs. Thankfully, the area also had many abandoned apartments in the area for this same reason. As long as Mars could find industrial cleaning materials, he thought they could construct a makeshift and sterile sick ward. The rats and cockroaches that had scuttered freely as pedestrians, while the three made it to the location, made Mars second guess this notion.

The apartment itself was at the top of a building in an area of less than perfect repute. It had windows and a few holes in the walls that allowed an ample view, along the entire corner it faced. It would help them keep an eye on the alley and the wide street below. The apartment complex could be entered through either venue. Security didn't look like it was a problem, most of the people seemed to be incapable of putting up any sort of a fight in the area, mostly they just lay looking sick and dying. The ones inside had a little more spring, but not much. The ones that lay about in sun and rain told Mars, that Marines made few visits to such a littered and vandalized area of town.

As Jin made his way up to the apartment, Mars went with his checklist of things to gather for helping Sam. He would probably end up stealing most of it. If there was one thing he had learned in his time with the Barcelona Boys, it was how to remain unseen. He did his usual paranoid walk, that he had picked up in Anolecrab. This was despite the fact that he hadn't been in Louguetown long enough to really be noticed. He would take the hood of his his cloak off or on when entering crowds, losing anyone who might be following his head, instead of his whole body. He paused in front of windows, checking the reflection, to see if anyone stopped with him. He would backtrack or stop along blind alleys, making sure no one followed. It took a bit longer to get around like this, but, it would make stealing things much easier.

He also wondered about the strange paper that Jin had showed him. The story behind it was even stranger. They hadn't opened the boxes themselves, yet, they had been too preoccupied helping their new comrade.

Kyte had arrived in the town only two days earlier. He figured he should save his money, so he didn't buy food for the moment. He found a meager apartment in town that looked beaten down, decay obvious as he entered. He soon saw there was no manager, so it was really a seemingly 'abandoned' building. He quickly settled into a room, without being seen by anybody.

He was still deciding what to do with himself. To become the best, you had to defeat the best. So, he tried finding out who the best was. He hadn't gotten any information yet, but apparently some of the most formidable swordsmen in the world were pirates. So that was his plan. He kept a close eye on ships that came in from the harbor for the next day, but had no luck.

He did notice something interesting, though. A boat pulled in at the harbor. It had a plain black sail; the type of sail traditional pirates used. Kyte was thinking it was a pirate ship, but instead, plenty of passengers got off of the ship.
"Are they transporting people..."
He frowned. Something wasn't right about it. There was something mysterious about it, so he kept on looking.

All of the sailors that got of the ship went in separate directions, not grouping together at all. Sure, some of them went in the same direction, but none of them had any intentions of doing anything with another. That is why when he saw two people walking together, he was intrigued. Now, from one who knew his background, Kyte may not sound very bright. But this man was one who was attacked and abused for a few years on that island, and had ever since gained an understanding of how things worked in the world. He knew how people acted, albeit he learned from observing people who's minds didn't function properly.

He saw one of the figures carrying something, a bag, maybe. He saw the figures approach the exact same apartment he was in. When he was sure they were heading to it, he ducked out of the window and went downstairs and out the back door, winding around the side. He began observing them closely. He saw that there were two men and one girl-young, by the looks of it-and that the girl was missing an arm. She also did not look in good condition. That was the 'bag' he had interpreted earlier. He watched them walk in and thirty seconds later, shadowed them. He saw them go up the stairs, and followed them from there. He finally saw the room they went into, albeit he thought he might have been seen by one of the men. He then went back to his room, wondering what he should do.

Naturally, it wasn't polite to go barging into a room while people were there. It also wasn't very good to knock on the door and say, "Hello, I saw you walk in, and I thought you might need some help. May I come in?" either. He was faced with a tough decision, although dangerous. He felt an obligation to help the girl, for he knew the look of the dying all to well, even though it may have been the lack of light in the night. He waited until both of the men left, seeing the first man leave and start heading deeper in town. He then thought he saw the second man leave, although he couldn't be for sure in the black of night. His eyesight was good, but not that good. He gathered up some medical tools and some food as quickly as he could, and crept down the hallway to their room. He opened their door, knowing there wasn't a lock on it, and walked in, closing the door quietly behind him. He walked to where the girl was and started examining her, hoping he could get finished before the men returned.

Vincent looked down at the table he was sitting at. In front of him, spread out, were all sorts of different mechanisms in various stages off being taken apart. On the left side of the table lay Vincent's gas mask. He usually wore it, however, he took it off any time he worked on his inventions. Vincent sighed and scratched his face, forgetting that he was holding his soldering iron. Vincent jumped out of his chair, knocking it over, as the hot metal came into contact with his bare skin. "Damn," he exclaimed as he dropped the iron on the table. As the pain from the burn subsided, Vincent went over to his bedside table to grad some burn gauze from the first aid kit.

Vincent sat down on the bed as he applied the gauze and looked around his apartment. Well, you really couldn't say that it was his, since there was no landlord to pay rent to. Vincent was looking for a place to live in when he found the abandoned apartment building several months ago. The apartment wasn't much to look at, just a two table, a chair, and a bed. There wasn't even a bathroom in the apartment, which was very inconvenient, but Vincent could live with it.

After the pain finally was gone, Vincent wiped off the gauze and went back to the main table. As he sat down, he looked back at the new type of grenade he was working on. It shouldn't have been hard to make a smoke grenade, but for some reason he couldn't stabilize the chemicals needed to produce the smoke. As he sat there pondering which stabilizer to use next, a voice in his head said, "Why don't you try to stabilize the mixture with rum?" "I really don't think that alcohol would be that good of a stabilizer," responded Vincent out loud, "if anything, I would think that the alcohol would only make the mixture more unstable." "When did I ever lead you wrong?" asked the voice in his head, "wait, don't answer that."

"Fine, fine," Vincent said as he reached for the bottle of rum on the right side of the table. After taking a swig out of the bottle, Vincent added a couple of drops of rum to the mixture of chemicals in front of him. At first nothing happened, then the mixture started to react violently. Vincent watched in horror as he realized what was happening as the the mixture started to react with the alcohol. Vincent dashed for his mask, reaching it a moment before the explosion went off, however, he did not have enough time to put it. The explosion knocked Vincent into the wall, as smoke filled the apartment.

Dazed and disoriented, Vincent somehow made it out the door, which was knocked off it's hinges and across the hallway, coughing all the way and trying to orient himself. As he put his mask, the coughing subsided, but the disorientation continued. "What the hell?" Vincent exclaimed as he sat down near the wall, "I told you that adding alcohol was a bad idea!" "Hahaha," the voice replied, "I know, I know, I just wanted to have some fun, since you are just cooped up inside that apartment all day long." Vincent sighed instead of answering and looked around to see that somebody must have entered the apartment across from his, since the build-up of dust on the door handle was no longer there. "I wonder who moved it there," Vincent wondered aloud. "Eh, I'll deal with it later," Vincent said as he leaned his head against the wall and closed his eyes.

Jin walked off the ship carrying the sack of their loot on his shoulder. The two males took their female acquaintance to an abandoned apartment that Mars had suggested. It wouldn’t be the greatest place to have a ‘hospital ward’, but it would do. They made it to the apartment and Sam was laid onto a bed, with her back up. Jin sat on a chair in the corner of the room, with the bag of loot under his chair. He was covered by the shadow of the night, as he watched the dimly moon-lit apartment.

Jin sat in Mars’ cabin looking at the unconscious girl. She was dripping blood all over the cabin and it was obvious she needed intensive care. The Kilah male went against his wishes of helping an unknown person and decided to help her. Since Mars had suggested that she needed healing and what not, Jin had told Mars about his medical experience. Jin went outside the cabin to fetch a medical kit, and came back inside. The sailors were working hard as they rowed the oars back to shore.

Jin came inside of the cabin and picked up the cyborg female. She was heavier than she looked. Jin laid her down on the bed and turned her over. ”Hey Mars, if she asks, it wasn’t me that healed her,” Jin said, wanting to avoid any possible confrontations or gratifications. Jin pulled her shirt up to her neck, so he could work on her back. He set the medical kit on the bed, and went along with his works. He knew he could do a much better job if he had the necessary herbs. Jin needed to start collecting all the herbs he found around the world, that was one of the main ways he would be able to cure anything in the world. The Kilah male wiped away Sam’s blood on her back. He made sure that there was no blood at all and then applied some heavy antibiotic cream. There was some aloe cream in the kit and he decided to use it on top of the cream. Once the antibiotics set in, then the aloe would set in next. The aloe would act as a pain-killer, though it wouldn’t do as good of a job as morphine.

Jin proceeded by letting the healing salves be absorbed, by her body. He waited a couple of minutes and then started to wrap her body with gauze. He had to sit her up in order to do this. Jin knew this would be more of an awkward situation if he wasn’t really a doctor and if she was conscious. The pirate finished wrapping the gauze around her body. No blood seeped through the gauze, because of the excessive amount of cream. Jin pulled her shirt back down to cover her body, as he walked out to the deck.

Jin gave Mars a paper full of different supplies he needed to further treat her and the rest of them if needed. Jin was given the duty by his captain to watch out after Sam. He sat there watching, the moonlight slowly moving. Jin felt an urge to use the restroom, and looked around the apartment. There seemed to be no available restrooms anywhere around, so he quietly walked down the hallway of the apartments. He clutched a rusty door knob and went inside. Jin looked around to see that it was empty, and he went into the closet. Inside the closet, there was a bucket full of water. It seemed it had been there for too long to even care. Jin finished his business as he used the “restroom”, or closet.

The Kilah male walked back over to their room, and he opened the door to see another male in there. It was dark, but the figure did not resemble Mars. He looked at him, it looked like he was doing something to the female acquaintance on the bed. ”And you are?!” Jin said with a cold tone, as he walked over to the unknown male. He stood about three feet away from Kyte, when suddenly a small explosion followed. He heard a thump and he could see that some smoke was making its way into the room. ”What the hell is going on in here?!” he said out loud, so the person outside could hear, and this male in front of him.

Mars went about his work through the now shrouded streets of Loguetown. The stars had all but disappeared. All the smoke and light from the shops blinded his eyes to them. But, he wasn't concerned with the heavens , his concerns at the moment were much more worldly. Particularly, how to get around in an area of it, that he didn't know well. A haggard women begging caught his eye. She didn't look too old, by beggar standards, at least. Mars approached the woman, sensing his intentions, she asked.

"Spare some Beli for my children, sir?" She extended her arm, wrapped in the rags of the monochrome sort that clothes that have been on the street seems to blend into.

"I'm no sir, just a Sam, but, I need a little help getting around this part of town. Help me and I'll give you four times this amount." Mars grinned and explained. He stuffed enough beli, to eat better for a day, than it looked like she had eaten in a while, in the tin she extended. The woman hesitated at first, unsure of Mars' intentions, but his nonchalant air looked of someone who didn't care much for beli or taking advantage of those less fortunate. The hardened street wise woman decided she could take the gangly man down if it came to that. Her previously pitiful countenance changed in an instant after she decided she could use the beli.

They kept a thankfully quick pace and Mars lifted the things he needed, keeping his profile low, but not suspicious. He looked for sterile bandages with the lost look he liked to use when avoiding suspicion. It was sort of unfocused and like he didn't really know what he was looking for. Lost in his thoughts, which he frequently was.

Kyte was simply shocked. He looked at the girl again, just to make sure. She looked like twelve or thirteen years old. He looked back at the place where her arm was ripped off. No doubt about it. That was machinery, plain and simple.

He shook his head. How could she still be living? He had heard of cyborgs before, but such things were not around on his island. Part machine and part man, cyborgs were more durable and could hide secret weapons. That was all he could remember of what he read of them. To think that machinery could exist also in the body of a human, it was almost unthinkable to him.

Nevertheless, he figured out the problem. She had lost too much blood. Their friend had done well on her back, he obviously had as much medical knowledge as Kyte did. But then wasn't this useless then? He shook his head. No, not useless. There was the fact of blood loss. Her body was already half dead.

This was how it happened. From losing her arm, and the giant gash on her back, and staying on the boat, it was obvious that she had been hemorrhaging for a long time. When on the boat, or at least a little bit before she got on the boat, by Kyte's suspicions, she had already entered Class I Hemorrhaging, losing at least 15% of her blood. On her way over on the boat, when he presumed the doctor was patching her up, she had entered Class II, losing around 15 to 30% of her blood. Class I was usually okay, as it never affected your vitals, but Class II was the part where it started to worsen. He could tell that was where she was now. She was tachycardic, and had recently entered peripheral vasoconstriction. She was pale due to the lack of the blood, but this was easily fixed. Just as he started pondering how to manage this, a man entered the room. He had been caught.

"And you are?!" he said. Before Kyte could respond, there was an explosion from the apartment directly across from them. This situation was going from bad to worse, and was not getting any better, from the looks of it. "What the hell is going on in here?!", the man said. As if I know, Kyte almost responded.

Kyte instantly got his back into a wall, prepared to fight if he must. "Listen, please just hear me out. I watched you come in, because you came from that mysterious ship. I saw you come in with this girl here, and she looked in bad shape. I'm only trying to help, I could have her fixed before daybreak." He looks at the man to see if he's still hostile or not. "Ok?"

It has been 4 months since Vincent left Organ Island and came to Loguetown. In that time he had to relocate 12 times because of incidents like today. And every time it has been the voice's fault, always giving him faulty advice which often resulted in explosions that led to his eviction from wherever he was living at the time. He couldn't remember when the voice appeared, just that it appeared one day and started talking to him, giving him advice. Sometimes that advice was good, sometimes bad.

Lately, it started giving him dangerous advice, like today. He had tried ignoring it, but it was persistent, and since it was inside his head he couldn't kill without killing himself.

Vincent opened his eyes when he heard a man's voice exclaiming, "What the hell is going on in here?!." "That must be the new resident of that apartment" said to himself. "Lets go meet him," said the voice in his head. Vincent could not argue with the voice about that, so he got up, picked up his hat of the ground, adjusted his mask, and walked into the apartment.

"I apologize for inconvenience that my failed experiment caused you," Vincent said to the man as he walked in. He then noticed a young girl laying on the ground. What struck him the most was the fact that she was a cyborg. Suddenly, Vincent had an urge to study her, to find out how she worked, since he had always been interested in cyborgs.

Sam winced and groaned after hearing the explosion nearby. She opened her eyes, it was dark, and she was off the ship... How long had she been out? Whatever the case it was obvious she had passed out, and likely been a burden on Mars. "What the hell is going on in here?!" It was Jins voice... Jin was here. The young cyborg looked around the room a little, trying to get an idea of what was going on herself. There was another figure nearby her, it seemed foreign to her... She could hear him speaking, it sounded like it was about her...

"Listen, please just hear me out. I watched you come in, because you came from that mysterious ship. I saw you come in with this girl here, and she looked in bad shape. I'm only trying to help, I could have her fixed before daybreak, Ok?" Sam looked at the man who was speaking about her... In the dark it seemed like nobody had noticed her waking up. Before Jin even had time to respond, another man came in.

"I apologize for inconvenience that my failed experiment caused you," Samantha looked at the man, finding him very odd. It looked like he was wearing a gas-mask from the sound of his voice and the shape he had in the dark. She could see his mask pointing towards Samantha now, apparently curious.

The young girl decided it was time to wake up. She sat up slowly, her back aching and sore, and her body feeling weak and a little cold. "Jesus Christ... can't a girl get some rest around here?" She sighed and gave everybody in the room a look of irritation, of course they couldn't really see in the dark. "I swear to god, it's always one thing or another... Explosions, intruders, guys in gas masks... And all this right after I lost my arm to some pirate twice my size... Anyways not really any reason to be too upset I guess, why don't we all calm down and tell each other what the hells going on huh? As for introductions, I'm Samantha. The prodigious genius girl of Loguetown." She said, grinning confidently. Honestly she was still feeling weak, and didn't really have the spirit to argue or get angry at anybody for right now unfortunately...

Jin listened to the stranger’s attempt to settle things. ”Treatment is being handled for her,” he stated pointing at the girl that was laying down. Jin didn’t know why people would randomly come into a room and want to heal them. It just didn’t sound like something a person would do. Especially, if she was being taken care of by some other people. Jin watched as a figure appeared in the doorway where smoked was still pouring in from the explosion. He couldn’t really make out who he was, but he came in apologizing. This was the weirdest occurrence that had happened since arriving on Loguetown.

Jin stood there slightly irritated of how bad this situation got. He was in a room with three strangers. One was from their previous “adventure”, but these other two males were suspicious, shady strangers from this abandoned apartment. The pirate stood there, as he adjusted his position and started to walk over to the corner. He sat back down from where he first was sitting and protected his loot. Jin almost forgot that he had the precious things that one of their ‘comrades’ had died for in their little adventure today. The male sighed, as he put his head down.

Jin sat down and calmly thought of what to do in this kind of situation. It didn’t seem like the two men were any threat to him as of yet. He noticed that the last man to spoke was wearing a gas mask and seemed to be a little creepy, if not suspicious. The smoke started to fade as it escaped into the outside atmosphere. Before he spoke again, he heard the female waking up and speaking. She seemed to be in a jolly mood for someone who just lost her arm and had a gash on her back. Jin was glad this wasn’t turning out as bad as he thought it would. The injury on his forearm would make it harder for him to fight, since he was a martial artist. It would give him a big disadvantage.

The Kilah male sighed and shook his head, as he sat back up and looked out into the dark moonlit sky. ”Well, I don’t feel really inclined to introduce myself to intruders,” he said, ironically this was an abandoned apartment. Jin wasn’t the friendliest of guys, if you caught him on the days he drank, it might’ve been easier. But he seemed to ‘paranoid’ of something happening to him and too cautious. Jin seemed to not let his guard down in front of anyone. But this wasn’t the best of traits to have. Jin would love to have friends, but he would also hate to lose them. It was in a way, a sub-conscious test of his to see who could break through his guard of trust.

Mars had finished his errands in the nicer end of town. He headed back towards the lower ends, having paid the nice lady her promised amount. He knew the rapid way news spread among the homeless, he hoped his actions would have them look favorably on the hooded man named 'Sam'. She didn't seem to have a problem with the shoplifting activities, found it amusing, even. He hadn't lost his touch, either, it had all gone smoothly.

Mars knew he was getting close to his destination when a cockroach crossed his path. Acting quickly, he jumped and smashed it with his foot. He went the rest of the way back, like this, attempting to crush bugs under his feet. As reliable light became more scarce, it became harder to smash them. By the time he found himself in front of the tenement, the soles of his boots had the remains of five little roaches. With another large step, he walked over a prostate man lying on the steps and walked into the building, which, he had affectionately nicknamed the 'Hotel Hobo'. He reminded himself to paint that on a wall when he got his hands on some more paint supplies.

As Mars entered the dubious establishment he presented his rapier to the darkness. He wasn't the type to err on the side of carelessness. A burning barrel from outside lit his way up the stairs. He took the steps two at a time. He was tired by the time he got to the top, with all the supplies he had carried with him. He heard a commotion coming from down the hall and his nose itched at an acrid smoke that hung in the air. Assuming the worst, he set down his things and started to creep along the side of the hall, as the creaky boards made less noise at their edges.

Mars heard Sam introduce herself, that calmed him slightly, thieves and thugs didn't usually wait for introductions. Considering the part of town he was in, he wasn't taking any chances, though. He took a bold step into the room, and as he hopped in, his foot went through the rotting floor. His daring and roguish entrance was thoroughly ruined. He fell over, flat on his face, and his ribs began to ache, once again. His rapier clattered along the floor. He decided he wasn't intimidating anyone, anytime soon.

"Oof! Hey, guys. Jin, I got all the stuff you needed. It's right outside." Mars attempted a friendly tack. He got up and dusted himself off, going over to pick up his rapier.

"I see our patient has awoken." Mars grinned at Sam as he walked over to his weapon. He bent over and picked up his sword, and noticed a rat scurry across the floor. Hoping to make up for his earlier embarrassment, he lunged at it. He just managed to spear the dopey rodent, and proudly lifted his quarry to the others.

"I got some dinner, too. I'm Mars, by the way. Do you guys call the Hotel Hobo home?" He regarded the others with a grin. The man in a mask had scared him at first, but he seemed more sorry than menacing. The other reminded him more of a runaway than one of the junkies who made their home here. His clothes didn't have the dirty appearance of the other denizens, and he seemed cognizant.

Kyte was at a loss for words. To make it worse, he had been caught. Before the man could start asking questions, however, the man responsible for the mediocre explosion they had heard earlier walked in, apologizing. "I apologize for inconvenience that my failed experiment caused you." How rude. Walking in someone's room without even knocking. Before Kyte could call the man an ignorant ass and berate him for this, he realized the irony of his own statement. Hardy har har...

To make things even worse than that, the girl woke up, berating all of them. "Jesus Christ... can't a girl get some rest around here?" He looked at the floor in embarrassment. The prodigious genius girl of Loguetown."

He sighed. "Geez...now I look like a damned fool. I wanted to help, but it was already under control, eh..." He shook his head, still a bit embarrassed. "My name is Kyte. I just saw you were in bad shape, and decided to help, because you haven't received the proper treatment yet. I'm sorry that I've caused you all a disturbance..."

Before he could continue, a man walked through the doorway, rapier drawn. Before the thought that this could possibly get any worse, the man promptly fell through the floor. Kyte couldn't help but let a little laugh out, but he stopped it so it didn't look like he was insulting him. "Oof! Hey, guys. Jin, I got all the stuff you needed. It's right outside." He got up and retrieved his rapier, saying "I see our patient has awoken." He then promptly skewered a rat. They were unusually large here..."I got some dinner, too. I'm Mars, by the way. Do you guys call the Hotel Hobo home?" Kyte burst out laughing again. He contained it again, but had to try harder, the slight grin on his face. He had come up with a similar name for the hotel, but couldn't remember it at the moment.

He looked at the man that the man who had most recently entered called Jin. "I know I have outstayed my welcome, if there even was any in the first place, and I apologize." He started gathering what little medical equipment he had up, putting them back in a small roll up bag. "You're actually doing a pretty good job. Just in case you don't know, there's only two ways to have her recover at this point. One is to let her blood cells regenerate and slowly fill back up, but that's especially risky and long. But the other is volume resuscitation, with crystalloids. The crystalloids would be either a saline solution, or a lactated Ringer's solution. That is the method I recommend, as she won't die from it." He walks towards the door, planning to leave. "Again, sorry I disturbed you. Tell me if you see any pirate ships on the coast, I need to join a crew soon..."

"Jesus Christ... can't a girl get some rest around here? I swear to god, it's always one thing or another... Explosions, intruders, guys in gas masks... And all this right after I lost my arm to some pirate twice my size... Anyways not really any reason to be too upset I guess, why don't we all calm down and tell each other what the hells going on huh? As for introductions, I'm Samantha. The prodigious genius girl of Loguetown." Vincent chuckled at the girl's upbeat response to everything that happened in the last 10 minutes.

"My name is Vincent Guerrero, the White Angel of Death," Vincent said, bowing to the girl, ignoring the rude man who said, "Well, I don’t feel really inclined to introduce myself to intruders." "Miss, I couldn't help but notice that you're a cyborg," Vincent still talking to the girl, "so I was wondering if you would allow me to study you, when you get better that is?" He wouldn't usually be so upfront, especially with a lady, but she was the first cyborg he has seen in real life, plus the voice keep urging him to do this because the might not get a chance like this again.

Vincent turned his attention to the man, who apparently was named Kyte. Before he could ask why Kyte looked embarrassed, another man came into the room and promptly fell on his face, his rapier cluttering to the floor, causing Vincent to chuckle. This was certainly an interesting group people, and even better, they were not marines coming to arrest him for destruction of property.

"Oof! Hey, guys. Jin, I got all the stuff you needed. It's right outside." said the man going over to pick up his rapier."I got some dinner. I'm Mars, by the way. Do you guys call the Hotel Hobo home?" he said as he skewered a rat and held it up for the group to see. Vincent chuckled again at the man's interesting and funny behavior. "A home is something that you're glad to return to, so probably not," Vincent responded to the man, "but I do, did, live here."

OOC Notes

The other young doctor, Kyte was it, said some stuff no one seemed to understand and left. Mars jumped in at that moment and almost fell through the floor. Vincent, through his gas mask, asked if he could study her. His creepiness just reinserted itself after his introduction.

"Take another step, and you'll really be sorry." Sam tried her as tough a voice as she could muster at the moment. Mars mentioned some things he said he got, and picked up his rapier, killing a rat. He mentioned possibly eating it. Lupa burst out laughing.

"Don't make me laugh, you Bastard!" Laughing hurt Sam, and she coughed in pain after making out her last statement. She tried getting back up.

"Come on, I know of a warehouse where we don't have to worry about rats and stuff." She got about half way up before the pain was too great and she fell back down on the makeshift bed the others had prepared. She wasn't sure if she could walk at the moment.

Jin couldn’t help but laugh slightly, as he watched Mars’ entrance. He felt like he had to be serious and make it seem to the other two new comers that they weren’t just a group of silly kids. Jin just didn’t feel that people that were in an abandoned apartment could be up to any good. Lot of times, his instincts was wrong and he was just paranoid, but sometimes he would be right. Jin’s face had a smirk when Mars got back up and skewered a rat, as he told him about the medical stuff he had gathered. Jin didn’t care how he got it, but as long as it they were obtained.

Jin stood up and walked passed the gas-masked man. He grabbed the supplies and went back to his seat in the corner. He quietly listened to them conversing, and picked up on their names. The other doctor was named Kyte, and the gas-masked man was Vincent. ”Thanks, for the supplies Captain,” the Kilah male spoke, as he rummaged through the smaller bag of supplies. It seemed Mars went overboard when he asked him to get some herbal plants. He had gotten so many plants that some weren’t even valuable to him. We didn’t really mind Mars’ effort, it was only better for him because he could possibly discover new herbal tonics or what not. Jin also saw the stone grinder he requested for, so he could mix herbs and grind them up. There were sterile syringes and needles, gauze, different kind of needed creams, and some anesthetics. He was also brought some surgical kit in a small box and could see they were steel tools. There was also a first-aid medical kit, for quick patch-ups and minor injuries.

Jin was happy as a smile crossed his lips. He wasn’t really listening to the others by now, but could pick up a couple of things. He was just happy that he had these supplies ready in case Mars, Sam, or he again got hurt really badly. He put away his supplies next to the loot sack underneath him. When he saw that Sam was hurting, he reached down under for the bag again. If they were going to move, it was best to treat Sam first. He knew how an injured person could bring a whole group of people down when traveling. He took out the stone grinder and the bowl it came with. Jin rummaged through the bag until he found some ginger and turmeric. The combinations of these two Asian plants would bring the flow of the blood back and the white blood cells would further regenerate Sam.

The ginger brought volatile oils and different compounds like gingerols that helped nausea, inflammation, and clotting of the blood that could be happening. The turmeric was just a side ingredient that helped bring similar chemicals to help the battle against a large wound. He finished grinding up the herbs and poured out the powder form. Jin put it in a bag and put it in his jacket pocket. ”Well, first thing is first, we need to treat Sam , seeing that she can barely move right now, it will only slow us down if we wait until later,” he suggested. ”Anybody have matches or anything to light up a fire? I need to boil some water and make the herbal tea,” Jin said, it was the first time he spoke up and actually spoke to the others with somewhat respect.

Most other doctors would’ve surgical stitched up the wound on Sam, but when he had examined it, it wasn’t a very dangerous big cut. So he decided to let it heal on its own with the help of the natural earth. He knew it was always better healing on the body’s own for it strengthened the immune system. The natural supplements only would help the immune system and did not have any synthetic chemicals that could harm the body. In a way, Jin felt not a lot of other doctors knew about the power or the herbs.

Mars went over to one of the window-holes and scraped the rodent off his sword. He looked at it fall, a cat leaped from an alley across the street and ran for it. He also noticed a few drops of water appear on his rapier. He stuck his head out the hole and looked up, the stars were gone. A cool breeze blew that felt like rain, maybe even a thunderstorm. He was glad, thought it might help freshen this part of town. But to really clean the funk embedded in this part of the Logue, would take nothing less than a series of tidal waves.

"Looks like rain." Mars mentioned to the others. Mars then followed Kyte out into the dismal hall, after his short assessment of Sam. He waited while Jin got the supplies, he didn't want Kyte trying to take their stuff. He watched from the entrance of the small room, keeping one eye on Jin fetching the bag, and the other on Sam and Vince. He was uneasy with the character of these two. Sam handled herself well. He smiled at Jin after being thanked.

"I saw some flaming barrels downstairs." Mars responded to Jin's query about fire. He looked up at the ceiling. It was pockmarked with holes.

"But, with, the roof as it is, I don't think this is the best of places to be right now. Sam, one of us could carry you piggyback home, I'm sure your parents are worried sick about you. Or maybe, we could fashion those walky sticks that people put under their arms, when they can't walk, I forget what they're called." Mars addressed Sam trying to hide his concern for her, and failing.
