At the noon peak of a morning of heavy drinking, Mars swayed from side to side of the streets of Loguetown like a sailor in a squall. His previously smooth face had been replaced by a rougher, itchier version and his eyes carried dark bags under them. He may not have seen himself like a pirate, but, he carried all the aspects of one at the moment, including the characteristic odor.

He had just been kicked out of a previous establishment and was looking for another one. Seemingly oblivious to the fact that people gave him a wide berth and avoided looking him in the eyes, Mars inquired as to where he could get a drink.

"Hey, you! Where's a fun place to fill up!?"
He asked a woman carrying groceries. "Hey! Where ya goin!? That last place was boring! I need a new place!" Mars shouted at her as she sped away. "Boring town!" He spat.

After wandering for several endless minutes, he rounded a corner into an alleyway. He heard raucous laughter fill the air. In his drunken state, any thought was precious enough to hold onto. He thought this was his new bar. Looking around he saw a sign titled 'The Black Cat' and a door under it.

"Ah, this is the place to be!" Mars screamed to himself. After several aborted attempts to grab the door's handle Mars finally established contact. He pulled first and fell over, as the door did not budge. "Oh, so you're one of those, huh?" Mars asked the door as he got up and dusted himself off for another try. "YARRR!" He screamed as he kicked the door and walked in with all the subtlety of a severally inebriated man. Being a bar of heavy drinking, not many took notice.

"Hey, Barkeep, my name, is Basilisk Veshpertine, but, my friends call me 'Mars'. A couple enemies, too." Mars laughed to himself as he stumbled up to the bar, his eyes having not adjusted to the darkness of the establishment. "I would like some wine and I gots the beli to pay for it." He sat down at a stool, slapping a random amount of notes down on the bar.

"Ah, well, Mars, my name is Micheal Birk, but, my friends call me 'fat Mike'. And a discerning customer as yourself deserves the best."
The old rotund bar tender smiled as he got down a bottle of wine and wiped it off with his apron, before uncorking it. "I trust you won't require a glass, monsieur?" Placing the bottle in front of Mars.

"Guessed right!" Mars answered and put the wine to lips, turning around in his stool, noticing finally that it was mostly pirates in the bar. He wondered to himself; pirates were fun, right?

The afternooon sun shined in the bustling commerce-filled city streets, it shined through a window of a bar. The “Black Cat” has been the bar where a tall figure sat; he stood out in the dark bar with only parts of the windows as source of light. He wore white pants and a white long sleeve that covered his tattoos. This man had traveled around the blue’s trying to find a crew, but every time he would come across a crew only a problem would arise. Finally he came to Loguetown where many famous pirates stop by to resupply and stock before the Grand Line. This man was named Seikatsu Satsujinhan, or ‘Jin’, he takes pride from his origin the Kilah Island. He finished his glass of whiskey and flipped the shot glass upside down. It counted as his fourth shot glass finished. He had not really wanted to drink too much, but his failure in his adventure to find a crew has not been going as well planned as he thought it would.

”Fat Mike! Two mo’ rounds of tha best whiskey you got!” Jin said aloud to the bartender, who immediately got his drinks ready to go. "Hey, Barkeep, my name, is Basilisk Veshpertine, but, my friends call me 'Mars'. A couple enemies, too." Jin heard the voice of this man called “Mars”. The white-haired male watched from his peripherals as Basilisk sat next to him. Jin could tell already that this man was already shit-faced drunk, though Jin wasn’t as sober as he could be. He felt his head slowly pounding harder as time seemed to past. He downed a shot really quickly, leaving him with one more shot of whiskey. He turned the shot he took upside down and got ready to take his sixth shot. Jin quickly downed the shot and flipped the glass upside down again.

Jin being really, really drunk he had a side of him where he was talkative, obnoxious, and sometimes rash and impulsive other than usual when he is sober. Jin thought to himself, observing in his drunken state that this Basilisk guy looked like a pirate, and he seemed to be alone. Jin could smell the alcohol on him and could care less at this point, because he was feeling the two shots he just took. He forced it down his stomach so it wouldn’t come back. “Eyyy! You supposed to be a pirate?!” Jin close to yelling, shouted at Mars. ”Fat Mike! One mo’!” the drunk man yelled.

Fat Mike being quick with his hands, he fixed up Jin’s drink quickly and had it ready. Jin sat there waiting for this man’s reply; he had many different options he could take from this. The first and most obvious option for him was to try and join up with this man. Even in his drunken state, he had his priorities in mind it was just in the manner how he handled them changed. He didn’t want to be captain, it would be too much work for Jin being an herbalist too. Maybe he could come to agreement and start a crew in Loguetown with this man. He felt an attraction to this ‘Mars’ fellow, maybe he was just drunk or it was fate just tying them together.

The wine making it's way down Mar's gullet quickly added to his already high level of intoxication. It wasn't as sour or strong as the wine he was used to from Anolecrab, it was smooth, almost fruity. He might even have noticed and commented on this, if it weren't for his state. He clumsy let his arm fall to his side and used his cloak's sleeve to wipe his mouth. He heard a voice off to his side.

“Eyyy! You supposed to be a pirate?!”
It took him a second or two to realize it was addressed at him. Turning his head and squinting to try and focus the image, Mars saw a fearsome looking blur, sitting next to him. He used all that was left of his cognitive skills to try and process the words that had been said. Here was a guy who needed a painter?

"Painter? Ya. I'ma p-painter." He burped into his own throat, sounding like a hiccup. "I used to be a, be uh, puh-painter." Mars corrected. He leaned forward and looked him dead in what he thought was his eye, trying to set a dramatic mood. He failed, in a way only a drunk can. "You, um, you got, uh, time, for ah, for ah shtory?" His grip on the bottle slackened and it clattered to the floor.

The Kilah inhabitant looked at the drunken man, the lack of brightness making the person look a lot hazier. He looked older than himself, but at the moment he was interested in talking to this man. It had been quite a while since he had gotten an acquaintance. He had somehow ended up at the start of the Grand Line with no one to acquaint him to the Grand Line. Now he had found a potential candidate to ally himself with. Jin was not stupid and knew that he couldn’t survive in the Grand Line alone, until he got stronger. Kilah slowly spun his shot glass with his whiskey in it. He played with it as he heard Mars say he was a painter. ”A… uh painter?” Jin asked, feeling the alcohol slow down his speech. ”I-I- am Seikatzuu S-sasujeeen…” he paused for a second as he thought about what he said. ”Juss~ call me Jin!’ he said introducing himself. Jin being obnoxious and rude while drunk forgot to introduce himself first, but he believed it didn’t matter being a pirate.

Jin thought to himself, as Mars talked about being a painter. ”I thought I asked him if he was a pirate.. maybe he’s both!”
Jin thought to himself, as he observed the slow, ruggish movements of the man. He felt the back of his throat burning from the excessive alcohol. He wanted to smoke a cigarette, let himself relax a little. Jin turned around on the stool and sat against the bar counter. The white-haired male took out his pack of cigarettes. He simply took one out, put it in his mouth, and grabbed his matches. ”The Fire Logia devil fruit would be pretty useful in these situations,” he murmured in an undecipherable string of words. He took a long drag out of his cigarette, blew out, and watched the smoke fill in the area around him. He was sure that smoking was legal indoors, especially in an adult bar.

Taking another drag out of his cigarette, he replied to the man. ”A storr-y? Hey! I got an idea!” Jin obnoxiously yelled at the man, as he slammed one palm onto the bar. ”You tell me a story and I’ll tell you a story!” Jin’s words didn’t jumble then, because he spoke so obnoxiously you could decipher what he was saying. Jin longed for a companion, because of the weeks of failure to find an accepting crew. Being in such a turmoil of having a limited amount of money, no friends or family, and no ship- he was literally screwed over. Jin thought of asking this man if he wanted to be a pirate. He wanted them to be able to start a pirate crew if willing to. Jin didn’t have to be the captain, he simply wanted to be able to accomplish his dream and become a pirate. And not just a measly weak pirate, a strong one at that. ”Fat Mike! A banana, please,” Jin strangely requested. Fat Mike already knew of Jin’s appetite for bananas, and the reason behind it being a devil fruit. He took the whiskey-filled shot glass and then in a second the glass was down upside down on the counter. Starting to peel his banana, he listened to his acquaintance. ”Go on, Mars…” he trailed off.

Mars had paused after his last sentence and frozen in his position on his stool. It might seem he was listening intently to his companion, but, he was actually summoning all his courage to avoid becoming sick. He had forgotten already how he had arrived at this situation, but, was determined to enjoy it all the same. Time itself had lost all meaning and his usual painter's eye, capturing every detail of his surroundings, eluded him as he swayed slightly at the bar.

After staring at the his drinking acquaintance for a while he noticed something. Did the pirate have paint on him? Gin? Was that his name? Or was that what he was drinking? Wait, the fearsome pirate blur sounded like he wanted to hear a story, Mars thought to himself. Fearsome blurs were to be respected, for they were great fighters, artists, so he would tell him his story.

"Hey, is that, uh, watchama call it, uh, paint on you?" Mars queried, oblivious to any response at this point, he continued. It reminded him of the paint his childhood friend had adorned her body with. "No, that's not how the sshhtory starts. Err, let me start, again." He looked around the tavern for a second.

"You see that, uh, cat over the buh-bar?" He pointing at a polished carving of a cat above the shelves of bottles of every imaginable shape and color. "I, uh I painted that cat ri-right there. Beautiful, beautiful cat. Me. Er, I painted that cat." Motioning towards himself for emphasis. He took a second look at the cat, realized there was no paint on the carving and stood up angrily. "Wait who, who w-wiped all the p-paint off? Agh! who cares!? I'm not a painter anymore any-way-ways." He hunched back down into his stool, feeling rather dismayed at the fact the world seemed to be working against him at this point.

"Did I tell you about how I stopped painting?" He addressed the man next to him. "On a boat, they were like, um, you don't belong on this island, uh, Get Off!" Swinging his arm as if swatting a fly to imitate the islanders. "So, like, I got off and everyone who, loved, loved me painting, was, like, keep p-painting! Don't stop! And I was like, No! Fuck you!" Basilisk motioned towards the air with his middle finger, exasperated he continued, "I mean, they got no, right. No right, I tell you! You know, what, I mean?" He asked his companion and leaned towards him, this time actually pausing for a response.

Jin sat there feeling the whiskey turn his stomach around and feeling like he was going to be sick. Being used to alcohol though, he knew how to hold it in. Jin sat there as he took the last drag of his cigarette. He slowly let the smoke out, and put out the cigarette on the counter. His banana was half-finished and sitting on the table. He looked at the yellow covering of the banana and just stared off into space. He let himself think about the story he waned to tell his companion, but forgot. He felt attracted to this new acquaintance. Jin felt like he could make a friend out of this man, but this was something he had to be careful about.

Jin felt that he couldn’t trust people that well, and knew that he wouldn’t his guard down even when drunk. Being drunk only attracted people to him a lot easier because of the fact he was more outgoing, if not simply obnoxious.

The Kilah male heard what Mars asked, ”Paint on me?” Jin had to think for a good minute to fully understand what he was talking about. When he finished, his train of thought he finally knew what Mars was talking about. Mars was talking about his tattoos! His tattoos were finely detailed of two different dragon styles that engulfed his whole body for ankle to neck. The ink of the tattoo was so strong it stood out in his peach colored skin. Mars probably had seen the parts of the tattoos that could be seen on his neck. His shirt didn’t fully cover his whole body tattoo and at times it would scare people. He always had the thought if the pain of a tattoo cannot be withstood by a man; it wasn’t meant for the man. ”Yes~, I have one huge tattoo and one half-sleeve tattoo. Uh-Maybe one day I will show it to you,” he said as clearly as possible. Jin didn’t show off his tattoos for it had its own meaning to him and he felt that tattoos represented who he was. No one knew the meaning of his tattoos since everyone that knew had their connections with him severed. Either if it was through death or simply forgetting about him.

Jin listened to the man, as he talked about his story. His story did not have much relevance to anything in particular to himself or the subject of tattoos. Jin felt like he understood the man’s feelings though, he had a love for painting and art. But it seemed Mars had a hard time finding someone to express his feelings about art. It seemed he had been hurt by his past and it had to do something with his love for painting. Jin listened to Mars finish his story and simply nodded. He understood even in this drunken state. It wasn’t like Jin fully could understand what this man was growing through since his drunken explanation wasn’t very clear. But one thing was for sure, Mars loved to paint as Jin was persistent with his goals. ”I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty tired!” he said, forgetting to narrate his story. ”I just go to sleep!” he said in very bad English. The man felt tired, but wanted to keep talking to this man. Jin threw down enough beli for Fat Mike to take care of Jin’s bill.
”Hey how about we go for a walk through this town, it’s a beautiful day! Hahahaa” he said out loud, followed by a genuine laughter of happiness. Jin was glad he found someone he could in a way relate to. He wanted to be able to keep this acquaintance, maybe one day they would become great pirates of the new era.

Isolated from all he had ever known, on a new foreign land in a trashy dock district of town, in a dark tavern telling his tale to a friendly stranger, the immense weight of Mars' situation began taking full hold of his mood. He yearned to hear an accent that reminded him of his people, or to smell meatball soup boiling away on the cobbled streets of a pristine Anolecrab morning!

On Anolecrab one depended on friends and family foremost, or nothing could be accomplished. This made the exile all the more difficult for the artist formerly known as Basilisk Vespertine. This was in great contrast to where he found himself. In the fast paced Loguetown, everyone seemed to be in a constant hurry to Mars, he had difficultly adjusting to this hectic pace and the little time it left to connect with others. However, It seemed to him, at least for the the moment, he may have found one new friend. And, in the unlikeliest of places.

"Hey how about we go for a walk through this town, it’s a beautiful day! Hahahaa"
Jin remarked. This suddenly reminded him of home, the kind of things his friends might say when he was down. It gave him a biting nip of nostalgia, but more than that it gave him hope and strength that this future off the Anole would be alright.

"Hahaha! That shounds abso-absolutely grand! We could paint the town red! If I shtill p-painted!"
Mars chuckled at his drunken joke and stumbled to get up, forgetting the bottle of wine he had left on the tavern floor. "Hey, man, I should, uh, show you, show my boat! It's aweshum! I'm still, still scribbling on it, you, should, you should, help me. Doodle on it! Hahaha!"

A few tables over, a man looking like a pirate with a sailor's cap played a game of cards with some of the other patrons. He had his interest peaked at the sound of the newcomer announcing his boat. His nickname was Mouse, partly for his small stature and partly for his ear sensitive to others' conversations. He would have to investigate this further, as he was in need of a transportation. He would do this as only a mouse could, with as little noise and fanfare as possible.

Mars felt like a child getting ready to play the day away outside, shouting to his friend.

"I'll raesh you to the boat!"

Mars didn't wait for his friend to follow him and ran headlong towards the Black Cat's door. He actually fell flat on his face, this wouldn't stop him, though. Laughing heartily at the accident he got back up and tried again, this time breaking out into the sunlight and salty air of the docks district. Mars closed his eyes and opened his lungs to the docks' air. The combination of the sun and sea filled his mind with an amount of sobriety and his battered heart fill with a small, but, very welcome bit of happiness.

He thought aloud as he realized he didn't really know his way around town. "Hey, I forgot where the boat wush."

The drunken, white-haired male stumbled across the bar as he burst through the door. He felt the warm sunshine engulf around him. Jin already felt pretty hot from his insides leveling up from the alcohol. He smelled the sea breeze as the birds in the sky crowed and flew across the blue plain. It was a really great day and this was the kind of day he imagined when thinking of the ocean. He could see how busy these streets were. Jin spotted much different kind of people from pirates to families; he could see that there wasn’t as much ruckus as a town filled with pirates should. Then he realized that the heavy force of marines around here probably were the reason why pirates didn’t start problems.

At times, Jin longed for his home island, Kilah. It was a peaceful island with only one town where everyone knew each other. There were dense forests every where and it gave him a feeling of safety. But being there so long and without much variety, Jin had longed for some space. This is what he chose, the life of a pirate and he knew he couldn’t stop here. He wanted to become a knowledgeable herbalist and doctor, while becoming a strong pirate. Jin lived his life with no regrets, he felt that having regrets would only slow down his life and not let him live his life to the fullest he can. The Kilah male walked drunkenly through the streets of Loguetown.

Before Jin could even realize, his new friend was dashing ahead for his boat. ”W-what?! He has a boat! This is perfect; we can make a crew ship or something!” Jin thought to himself in the most rational manner he could. The six-foot male ran after his new comrade and could feel his insides getting uneasy. Drinking on an empty stomach was not a good idea. He felt the alcohol twist and turn in his body, as it tried to make its way back to the world. Jin held it down feeling that men should be able to keep his alcohol in him.

Jin quickly arrived behind his new mate. He looked around there were a lot of different ships here; most of the flags were raised up probably to conceal their identities from the Marines. ”Hey, so- your boat is where? What does it look like?” Jin asked him, trying to help out his new friend. Jin shook his head around feeling the alcohol slowly leave his system. As he listened to his friend’s reply, he went over a couple of feet and started urinating into the sea. He was a little drunk still so he didn’t really care about manners. The last drips of urine fell out and he felt himself breathe out deeply. It felt good to release himself of his the pressure in his bladder. The male simply looked around, gazing at the se and all the different kind of boats on the dock. The sea always made him hope and feel like there will always be a better side.

Inside Mars' mind, ideas and memories swam by, past his conscious mind. He tried to grasp them, but, just as he seemed to get close to them, they sped away like startled guppies. They didn't slow down enough for him to recognize completely, but, just enough to get the general feel and shape of them. Enough to know exactly what he was missing. This wouldn't of been a problem, in fact, he would of welcomed the warm embrace of the blackout. But, his ship really needed finding.

Concentrating all his mental energies and sitting down on the street he took the pose of a great thinker. He snaked one hand under his armpit and rested the others' fist squarely against the side of his head. In this thought inducing pose, the pose his father had called the philosopher's pose, he focused his mind like a laser on a single point. His ship, and what it looked like. After a moment, he came up with something.

"Err, It's a um, ship, covered in shcribbles."
"Not too tall, not too long. It hash a square shail."

But what could the name be? He lifted his head and stared at the sky, as if an answer would fall out and fall into his lap.

"Hurr, it's name is the, it starts with an E? Or something?"

Mouse, following from the Cat, skirted from corner to corner trying his best to look small, just not suspicious. He wasn't very worried about escaping the notice of the two drunkards. That was a simple thing, no, Mouse was much more worried about being seen by his old crew. He had left under less than favorable circumstances, remembering what his captain had warned "If I see your ugly mug around this town, again, I'll feed ya to the cats!". He had been referring to his two lieutenants, twins, both fond of drinking milk. He felt a phantom soreness in his ass remembering the incident, having being literally kicked out of the crew's squat.

It was one thing concealing his identity in the gloomy bar, but, out in the daylight in open streets he was uncomfortable. As all good mice should be. He had recently taken to observing all ships coming in and out of the docks, for a good one to sneak aboard, so he instantly recognized the cloaked man's description. It was time to make his move. He left the lonely, comfortable shadows of his alley and hurried over to the pair. As he crossed the streets, he looked both ways to make sure there weren't any thugs about.

"Ahem, excuse me, gentlemen." Mouse announced when he got over to them, trying to get the attention of the cloaked man sitting on the floor and the urinator-in-public. "My name is Algernon and I believe I know exactly where your boat is docked. I can take you there, if you like."

"Huh, you know where, my boat ish? You work here? Here?" Mars asked looking over at him, being interrupted with his revelry with the sky. "I'm Mars, and, and this is my new p-pirate friend, a little Gin." Waving over to Jin, Mars trying a joke on the both of them, as he tried getting up to shake the man's hand.

So they really were pirates? Mouse thought to himself. This really was his lucky day!

Jin zipped up his pants and started to walk over to Mars as he described his ship. It sounded pretty easy to find, how hard could it be to find a ship covered in scribbles? Jin looked around the dock as he saw that each ship was in a way different from on another. Most of them didn’t have any scribbles on them; Jin thought that they probably had gone to the wrong dock. He had no luck in identifying the ship. Jin felt his vision blurring from the alcohol, he still needed at least an hour to feel any part of sobriety. ”Err.. M-ars…” he said stuttering, wondering if this man was just drunk and dreaming.

Jin sat down against one of the wooden poles that stuck up from the dock. He just looked around scanning the same ships over and over again. ”I don’t think your ship be here!’ he exclaimed, not being able to locate any ship with scribbles on it. Maybe he was thinking too much, he was imagining a ship with bunch of scribbles covering it all. ”Maybe its only parts of the ship that has scribbles?” he thought to himself.

There were people on the dock walking about ship to the city and vice versa, some people just hanging around and enjoying their time. At least the dock wasn’t as cramped as the city, Jin had much more room to walk around and do as he pleased, like urinating. Before he knew it, there was a weird male that popped out of nowhere. He looked a bit stocky and had the appearance of an ugly rodent, as Jin observed. Jin was good with people and he felt an awkward vibe coming from this man, but he knew better than to go off instincts right off the bat, especially if he wasn’t hostile. ”But in the pirate world, there are many shrew, sly men,” he thought to himself. He just decided to follow Mars’ lead.

”Hello there…” he said suspiciously, slurring the last word a bit. Jin didn’t give trust out very easily and Mars was no exception, but he has proved to be a reliable companion for the moment. Jin shook his head, as he felt that he was being too paranoid and thinking too much. But he felt that finding another companion so quickly was way out of the ordinary. ”Maybe fate is catching up to give bigger doses for not fulfilling friends from the past!?” he thought, as he felt himself get excited again. Jin came to the conclusion of simply being mutually respectful to the man, until he proved himself otherwise. The male didn’t feel comfortable when paranoid and hoped that he was wrong about this guy. Jin didn’t want anything wrong going on… but who knows what destiny could throw at one.

"Hey, Gin, this dockworker, says he can, he can take us to the boat." Mars said, finally summoning the right mix of strength and grace to stand up.

Mouse motioned for them to follow and tried to explain that he wasn't actually a dockworker.

"Yes about that, I'm not 'really' a dockworker. I am in need of a ship. I was wondering if you'd let me on yours. We would take a small, how do I put it, uh, 'detour' along the way. I can give you more details when we get to your boat."

Mouse wasn't sure how either of them would take his proposition. Gin was his biggest concern, he seemed rather off put at first. He was actually used to being treated that way by strangers. Mars on the other hand was an unknown factor, he seemed friendly, too friendly. Maybe he was just paranoid, he was drunk after all. He then reminded himself that's what has kept him alive all this time. At the very least, Mars seemed intent on coming along, for now.

"Hmmm, shounds alright, wha-what do you, you think Gin?"

Mars asked his companion. Being unsteady on his feet he also felt unsteady in his mind, Mars found himself relying on his advice. There was a tugging feeling at the back of his head that there was something Algernon wasn't telling them. As he wasn't in the best of minds, he had trouble noticing the furtive glances and awkward posture of Algernon. He could, however, tell Jin felt something was off. And he decided he could play it to his advantage, as he might of sober.

Mouse found it difficult leading them through a direct route through town and tried to keep to alleys as much as possible. He frequently had to stop as Mars had tripped on some refuse or found something interesting and he had to help him back up to his feet. And as long as they got to the other docks, he would be home free. Knowing this, it was difficult for him not to start doing his little scuttle to safety and leave his companions behind. He tried breathing to himself to calm down and this gave him a brief moment of respite.

After what seemed like an eternity to both Mouse, fearing for his life, and Mars, being bored out of his drunken mind, they reached an area of the docks familiar to them both.

"Err, I think that'sh my boat"
Mars said, pointing to a ship flying a black flag.

”Hm, alright a dockworker eh?” he said, in a questioning tone. Jin listened to Mars, and before he could put in his thought Mouse spoke up. He listened to the rat looking fellow and his proposal was a little shady, but he was too drunk to catch up and follow him thought-wise. The Kilah male simply stood there lost in his world by now as he weighed out the pros and cons of having a random stranger. Then again how did friendships start? It started out as strangers, and so he would give this man a chance. He needed people, he needed nakama, and the way to this was letting people in warmly but keeping his guard up.

”It’s alright for me…for now.. Jin replied to Mars, murmuring the last part. Before he could realize, Mouse and Mars were already up ahead. Mouse was leading the trio. He started back into the city and Jin knew that they were probably going back to another dock. It was suspicious how he knew where Mars’ ship was when it was in a completely different dock. There was always luck in this, and maybe fate was treating them well today.

Jin ran through the alleys quickly, he has very agile, but his drunken swagger caused him to knock over many things. Nothing bad had happened and he was sobering up. Jin knew at times events could get the best of him, causing him to go into a small rage at times when drunk. He ran just behind them, because Mars seemed to be having a problem with traveling on foot. It seemed they had gone through the whole city by the time they had arrived at the dock. He looked at the dock and it was a refreshing feeling after going through the disgusting alleys. The air smelled much cleaner and the sun shone bright, as the sea breeze lapped against their skin.

When Jin had started looking for the boat that Mars has described, when he found it Mars already pointed it out. That’s an interesting boat there!” Jin exclaimed, it seemed cozy and nice way to travel. ”So Rat-Face, what exactly are we doing? Jin asked, as nicest possible as he could. Jin’s senses seemed to be returning to sobriety. But at the same time he still had his rashness from the alcohol to lash out at Mouse.

Mars waved the others over as he tried skipping along the docks towards L'Esule.

"That’s an interesting boat there!" Jin exclaimed.

"Yesh, it was part of, part of the t-terms of my Exile."
Mars added, smiling. At the moment, L'Esule was one of the few things he had to his name. He was clearly proud of his ship, beaming at it's mention. He was excited to have finally met someone who might appreciate the artistic direction he had taken with the ship. The vast majority of people commenting on it tended to regard it in less than favorable terms. "L'Esule, more like L'Eshitu, Harharhar!" "Who abandoned this piece of crap in my dock!?" Were two examples he remembered.

"So Rat-Face, what exactly are we doing?"
Jin directed towards Mouse.

A stinging shame fell on Mouse as he tried answering the question. He thought he could probably get away with a cutting retort, after all, it wasn't Jin's ship he needed. He wanted to, but, Jin's demeanor reminded him too strongly of his old boss. He really didn't want to risk the man hitting him, he looked rather fearsome. So instead, he tried swallowing to clear his throat and find his voice again.

"Ah, eh, about that, I have a proposition for you two. You see, em, see," He tried remembering what he was going to say, but, had trouble being on the spot like this.

"Ah, eh, yes. I have a, 'friend', of sorts on a merchant ship. He is somewhat 'dissatisfied' with his position and the management of the ship, and the, uh, ship has some trinkets I would like to get my hands on. I approached my old boss with this information. I'll give you two the same offer I gave him. We take this ship here, sneak on board at night and with my friend's help, we rob it. And I get, I get, uh, half." Mouse thought this was only fair, after all, the operation was impossible without him.

"Half of the loot we find. And we have to leave tomorrow evening." He added, finally finding his spine.

Mars was standing on the L'Esule listening to the two. He was lucky the areas of the dock his feet fell on were in good condition. If he had stepped on a loose board while bounding down the dock, chances were he wouldn't of gotten to his ship as dry as he had.

L'Esule rocked gently in the bay as Mars mulled his options. There were a couple of problems with the scenario he found, but, didn't trust Algernon to be forthcoming. Half drunken creativity, half drunken devil-may-care Mars decided he would do it. He would ask his questions right before leaving, when Algernon would be most anxious to get going.

"Okay, I'll do it. I think I need to la-lay down, though. You in, Jin?"
Mars asked entering the ship and heading for a hammock.

Jin sat down on the wooden dock, tired from all the running through the alleys of Loguetown. He listened to Mars as he seemed to have taken great pride in his ship. Jin didn’t mind its awkward presence of scribbles and what not. He was not a fan of art, nor a critic of art. He had no right to tell if this ship was a masterpiece or not, because he believed things like ‘art’ were a matter of opinion. And whoever was on top of this social ladder was the one that was praised artistically. ”Exile eh?” Jin thought to himself, wondering why he could’ve gotten exiled. Mars seemed like a friendly man and he didn’t seem like the type of guy to become exiled by anyone.

The Kilah male slowly got up as Mouse seemed to have hard time explaining what he wanted to do. It didn’t seem like he had a set plan, it seemed like he had different objectives in his mind and had to come up with a fake plan to tell them. He slightly leaned against the front of the ship, as Mouse gave a very vague description of this ‘mission’. Jin thought to himself, he wondered how good of an idea this would be. He leaned against the ship as the throbbing in his head slowly seemed to slow down with the pace of his heart. His thinking seemed to get more logical now, and it felt good to return to his senses, at the least slowly.

”Alright, here’s the deal Rat-Face, Algernon man…” Jin told the smaller man, as he caught his train of thoughts. ”You get only forty percent of the whole profit, any goods will be exchanged for Beli in the town. Mars and I will split the sixty percent of the profit which mean we will only be getting thirty each. So basically you’re still getting more than us. Deal?” Jin laid out the plan nice and simple of how the money would be distributed. Jin was a pirate and he was not that stupid. He had ways of manipulation of others at times to get what he wanted, but at the same time he felt that this situation was only for emergency situations.

Jin turned around and jumped up onto the L’Esule. He leaned against railings of the boat and simply sat there looking tired from the alcohol. ”I’m in, if Rat-Face is down with the plan!” Jin spoke to Mars in a simple manner.

Looking around Mouse felt comfortable being this far from the street. As it were, he hid among a forest of slowly rocking masts. Noticing this unconsciously, he tried to position himself between vantage points on the street and the hull of a larger ship. Mouse did an awkward dance of fidgeting and posing. Finally deciding to squat, and feeling a bit more comfortable on the docks, Mouse ticked off his options.

He could pretend he didn't like Jin's deal, leave, and try to negotiate later. Although, Jin seemed like he could handle his way around a negotiation and would probably call his bluff. He could try and find another guy with a boat willing to do it at his rate. But, it was unlikely he could find someone on such short notice. He shouldn't of mentioned his time frame, that had been a mistake. He could try to come crawling back to his old crew and accept whatever terms they wanted. Although, they would definitely punish him in one way or another, so that wasn't really an option. And he could always get away with all the cash, later on. So, accepting the deal now really was his best choice. He had to try and appear reluctant, though.

"Hmmm, 45. And that's as low as I'll go. I gots kids to feed, ya know." Mouse tried looking as pitiful as he could, hunching down and looking at Jin sideways with as sorry an expression as he could muster. However, he had trouble suppressing a glassy twinkle in his eyes and tried to quickly move his hands behind his back. They would twitch whenever he was excited about getting away with a lie, and he couldn't afford this tell at the moment.

Whether Jin accepted these new terms or not, Mouse would agree to the deal. After all, today had been a good damn day for the little rodent. In fact, Mouse was surprised he had gotten this far. And so quickly! He was convinced it was the drink that had caused Mars to agree. Hoping to duplicate this unlikely of moments, Mouse made a mental note. From now on, he would always troll bars first. Whenever he might be looking for a deal.

Lying in his hammock Mars glanced at some of the posts along the docks. The sun had been slowly making it's way to it's western resting place. It was halfway down already. His painter's eye lazily calculated that the shadows on the dock's posts were at the precise length of the posts themselves. The thought of the sun going down reminded him of his own sleepiness. Calculating the posts' lengths bored him immensely. His eyes slowly shut for a moment, and he forgot his train of thought.

Noticing voices outside he switched tracks for a moment. Mars could just make out Algernon and Jin's voices coming from outside his little cabin. The negotiation itself held no real interest to his drunken mind. He hadn't the slightest inclination to follow what was being said. Much less take part in it. But, he did like the new companion he had found. Mars didn't want to lose the contact he had with him. Maybe they could go on new adventures tomorrow? As he lay there thinking about Jin a voice sounding a lot like his mother suggested:

'The hospitable thing to do, would be to let Jin sleep on the boat.' His mother's voice was right.

"Hey, Jin, you can crash on the boat if you want!"
Mars shouted before returning to his gradual descent towards sleep.

'Remember to brush your teeth before going to going to bed, Mars.' His mother's voice reminded him.

"No. Too tired." Mars responded, before drifting off.
