Romwell stared at Dressel for several moments, shuffling slightly in place. "Seventy? My god man, that's a lot. Yaksha may be mad enough to take them on, but I'm not here to fight. Things get bad, I'm out." He trembled slightly as he grabbed one of Dressel's glass bracelets and placed it around his wrist. "Four...are one of you coming with us? It's just me and the other two from the crew. Yaksha won't be joining us this time." A hand swiftly threw a second bracelet behind him, which Elizza snatched from the air quickly. "He's not my captain, he's a rapscallion that I don't have much of a choice in following. He saved me from some nasty business with some corrupt marines, and now I don't have much of a choice but to help." Elizza was absentmindedly slipping the bracelet around her wrist as she watched the book-keeper all but stutter his response. "It's amazing, isn't it? I don't know how he manages to stay sane like that. Then again, he's always walked the line between almost mad and mad..." A soft giggle escaped her lips, as she slapped Nat on the back. "Let's go say hey to our new friend, kitten! I'm sure he'll love to meet you." She all but dragged him towards Dressel and Romwell, bouncing on her heels. "This is Nat. He's the crew doctor." "And he's DRUNK? My god, Hawkins! He can't be older than 18, and he's already hit the rum? Is Yaksha that irresponsible?" "Oh, calm down would you? He's not doing anyone harm; besides, I doubt he'll be so gung-ho about the stuff in the morning." Romwell stared for several moments, looking almost dumbfounded, before shaking a head. "You ARE a harpy, you know. I just hope you never sink your talons in this little boy." Elizza simply responded by curling her hands into twin claws, and sneering at him. "Are we ready, then? We've got a lot of work to do if this is going to go off." Romwell shoved a hand in his pocket, and grasped the glasses from his face. He drew a handkerchief from his pocket, rubbing them against the glass and speaking almost absentmindedly. "You've met Yaksha; you know what he's like. I've always felt him much too harsh, and quite honestly, creepy. I'd never want to cross him. Still, I think if he was here, he'd say..." The man gently set the glasses on the deck of the ship, and began to rub at his eyes. There was an almost hungry silence, as if the entire world was waiting to take a breath. Finally, he looked up, and favored Dressel with the most singularly chilling smile he would've ever seen. The warm blue eyes were gone, replaced with twin familiar slits of muddy orange. The face and hair were the same, but there was absolutely no chance of mistaking him for anyone but Yaksha now. The voice complimented his smile of pure mirthless ice. "You WILL owe me, Dressel. And every man repays a debt owed. It may not be today. Maybe not even be in the Blues. But someday, somewhere, in some way...my bill will present itself. And I trust you'll be man enough to remember this day when you do." A hand rose slowly, and he wiggled five wrinkled fingers, the creases stained the exact same shade of blue as his hair. "Because if you don't...you'll never quite know when you'll see me again." He stooped down to grab the glasses again, and when he looked up, the change was instant; though the eyes were the same, that familiar glance of distant joviality was there once more, and the voice seemed almost to embody the very spirit of a musky, dust-ridden library. "Now, then. Nighthawk, you said?" =============== Jay ran a hand through his hair, trying his best to understand this strange girl before him. "Yes, but your home was obviously different from mine. And every home has different things that they learn. So why don't you start by telling me a little bit about your-hey, don't do that!" His hand lashed out as he saw Mildra biting her own arm, and he grimaced at the greasy feel. "You don't eat people! I don't care what things were like at your home, you have to learn how to act out here. So come sit with me, let's talk, and I'll see if we can't figure out what you already know." Probably nothing...why am I stuck with this girl? Why can't I be up there protecting the prisoners? |

Nat had a headache, his body hurt and he wasn't quite sure what was even happening anymore. His weak arms hung over the ships edge, the wood pressing against his tan skin as he looked to the woman with half closed eyes. He still wasn't sure who that was, and she was a bit of a mystery to him, he wondered where she was from and how high up on the boat she was. She must've been pretty high up the way she spoke, but he was still to out of it to fully comprehend the situation. His vision blurred still, but it wasn't as bad as before, he could at least make out who people were. The woman's silver hair seemed to flow endlessly down her back and into many vicious pythons. Nat inched away slowly and then turned to his Attention to the other woman in the back, wobbling back and forth like noodles swimming up stream. He blinked and slowly he began to wonder who she was and what she was doing here, which is when he remembered something. His eyes opened wide and he slapped the wooden edge once heavily, and stood up, his jaw dropping somewhat as he remembered what he was going to do before. "Oh Schnap! I gotta find her!" He exclaimed as he turned to run, only to have Elizza hit him in the back, her massive strength sending him face first into the ground immediately. He groaned once as he tried to move his lips without taking in any wood at the same time. He rolled backwards into a handstand like he so often did, too scared to move due to his new found drunken nature. But before he was even given the chance, Elizza found that dragging him was a whole lot easier than letting him walk. He wasn't sure if she noticed, but he was dragged over barrels which scraped his stomach and his chin, not to mention his arms which dragged on the ground while she moved, between the odd barrel where they rose and fell again. By the time he reached Romwell he was dazed and on the ground wondering what he did to deserve this. The only thing which got him up was the familiar tone that carried itself into his ear like a spear head. A voice so creepy it sent shivers down the spine of the most hardened criminals. He began to crawl away upon hearing the voice, it wasn't a very pleasant voice to one who was drunk and out of it. His face on the ground as he moved as if it would hide his presence, he gently grew a layer of carpet the color of the wood, well as close as he could get being drunk, which was a very feminine shade of purple. He felt he was so slick right now, not even Yaksha could detect him and as he moved he let out a light snicker, sounding a little devious as he did. |

Ridnao had seen it but Dressel had not. The man was busy pouring over his mental work and the maps in front of him that he didn't realize Romwell's shift until it happened. He'd been absorbed pondering the infiltrator's words and applying them to the situation, applying them acceptably to the entrance and escape plans...Of course the idea of Yaksha not joining them was a bit off. He had looked up briefly when Romwell went over to speak to Elizza, who was sitting near Ridnao who was sitting near the odd man with the carpet suit and the hammer that looked heavier then he was...An odd group. Then he'd looked back down and seemed intent on formulating an acceptable plan by lunchtime. And then, of course, the damned snakeskin man showed his true colors. Dressel looked up slowly while Ridnao covered her mouth, hiding her delighted giggle at the half frown, half surprised look crossing her boss's face. And Dressel stared at Yaksha/Romwell now, eyes drooping a bit as he seemed to lose mental capacity for a moment but it sparked back to life with understanding. No overly dramatic poses or expressions, that wasn't in his nature: A long pause, a deep shock and he moved on. "W...Well then. Ahem." the man said, standing up straight and staring at Yaksha, shaking it off after a moment. "I'll remember my debts, but you'd remember yours too I suspect. Or should I remind you that I could have very easily sunk you on sight instead of recognizing your usefulness? I could have stormed the base. And I still will if your Deception and Acting don't hold up to the test." He responded as any real leader would, parrying a barb and returning it skillfully. It was no surprise he had done well as a Marine. The return to sorts of Romwell made Dressel snap back to business as well. "Nighthawk. You'll recognize the code phrase when you hear it, it's clear as day." he man said, staring warily at Romwell as if afraid Yaksha would burst out of his skin. Ridnao couldn't stop giggling like a, well, girl over Dressel's reaction. "He...Hahaha, you got that right...Mad and almost mad indeed. Hahaha..." she said, laughing aloud briefly and ignoring the brief and level glare that Dressel pointed at her. And then she turned her head, shaking it a bit until she noticed the interesting departure method of the 'catman', staring blankly at him with all the mirth lost. He was bright purple and crawling away. And Ridnao sighed a bit, tapping Elizza on the shoulder. "...Uhh, your friend is escaping..." |

Romwell looked up slowly, and the faraway look of calm evaporated, replaced with a cold intensity. "Acting? You think it's something as simple as playing pretend? Putting on a false identity? That's something any little fool can do; anyone can put on a suit, dye their hair. Acting is a fine form of entertainment, to be sure. But why do you think it is I haven't let slip even a single little detail that Yaksha knows? I don't simply mix up my identities, like you wear the wrong pair of pants. It's more than that. So much more." He leaned across the table, his face mere inches from Dressel's, as he spoke. "You are clearly an ex-marine. Perhaps, then, you'll understand what I'm about to tell you. You served as a marine; how long? A year? A dozen? Doesn't matter. However long you spent, the aire of a marine surrounds you. And no doubt you learned how to be a marine. But you mentioned a mother, now didn't you? And surely you never acted quite the same around your mother than you did around marines. And what rank were you, as one of them? A Lieutenant, you mentioned? Certainly nothing like a captain of an entire pirate ship. So you're a Lieutenant, a marine, a pirate, a captain, and a son...yet where can you draw the line between which is the 'real' Dressel? Couldn't it be said any one of those little masks you put on for others is as much the real one as the one you're showing right now? You, Dressel, are a pirate. A son. A father figure. A captain. Perhaps even a blacksmith. And all of these are true, and all of these are a part of yourself. Yet not a single one is an 'act'. Myself? I'm Yaksha. Romwell. Perhaps a man of twenty named Anthony. But which could you say is 'real'? Even I can't answer that...so how could you possibly know?" Romwell turned, raising a hand as he brought it to his lips. "'A man wears a mask, and his face grows to fit it.' Shooting an Elephant. A wonderful book...perhaps read it some time?" His glance as he looked over his shoulder was cool and impassive, while he wriggled his wrist slightly. "You could have sunk my ship, and perhaps you would have. But there's no time for could haves, or would haves, or even should haves. The past is immutable, the future unpredictable, and the present...unbelievable. Of your own free will, you brought me into your fold. And given I'm reaping not even the slightest benefit for risking my life, I do think the least you could do is remember who took the blame for what could have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Or, perhaps more aptly, the crime that broke the Admiral's patience." Elizza watched Nat in silence for a moment, clearly trying to stifle a giggle. She rose from the ship's floor, and plodded slowly after the purple cat. "Oh, if Yaksha could see you now...let's get up, Cheshire." Her hand grasped a patch of the carpet, and she lifted him bodily by his scruff. While she walked next to Dressel and Romwell, waiting for the order to set off, Nat dangled inches from the ground. Aoime simply giggled. "So...bombs on command then? I see...so those cuffs aren't for decoration then? Interesting..." She hopped up from the bed and grinned a wicked grin. They had her guns, and until she got them she wasn't much use to anyone, including herself. But...she did have martial training, she could throw a punch if necessary. "If I can get Apep and Medusa back...I could easily put a couple dozen holes into these marines. Alas...they confiscated those. But it seems there not exactly below checking mmmmm private places for ammo." She fished a couple more rounds out from her chest, and flicked them into the air catching them. "Then again...if you give these enough heat these rounds could go off without the use of a gun. The problem is controlling that reaction...these slugs have a tendency to screw up anything they hit." Aoime glanced down at the .45 round slugs in her hands. She didn't lie, they would generally ruin anyone's day whether they hit them or not. She sighed a bit and rubbed the tip of the bullet against the bars, trying to think of something to do. |

"You don't eat people! I don't care what things were like at your home, you have to learn how to act out here. So come sit with me, let's talk, and I'll see if we can't figure out what you already know." Mildra was stopped from nibbling on her own arm by this strange brainless girl. She was saying things that reminded Mildra of another brainless girl she met before Sama, Soona, Stani, something anyway. Either way her lecturing was beginning to get on Mildra's nerves. After all how could a girl who covers up so much of her body and has no brains be of any help to Mildra? Mildra puffed out her cheeks in annoyance in a childish manner as she addressed her. "Mildra knows not to eat herself. Mildra knows that only bad girls get stoned and eaten because the law says that the strong survive and weak don't! Mildra is strong, so she won't get eaten!" Mildra boldly declaired pumping out her arms and making a muscular pose. Her logic was deeply flawed and didn't seem to make sense to anyone but herself. For now Mildra would have to come up with an idea to ditch this useless girl. Mildra's brain huffed and puffed and slowly the gears began to grind as she tried to think up a plan to ditch this strangely dressed boring girl, but alas it was no use, Mildra just wasn't the thinking type, besides the rumbling in her belly was distracting her. Reaching into the small meat smelling pouch she carried with her she pulled out a small chunk of raw meat and began to aggressively munch and tear into it in a manner you'd expect an animal too. She tore off a small piece and fed it to her bird Pojo who happily took the meat into her mouth and began to chew and munch on it as well. "Ahhh eat up Pojo so you can become big and strong like Mldra!" She beamed enthusiastically as she and Pojo continued to eat as they followed the brainless girl along. They had been walking for awhile now and Mildra was starting to get bored and lose focus as evident by her slack way of walking and posture. She dragged her feet along the ground in an exaggerated manner as if some childish way of showing resistance. "Hmmm so boooored. When are we gonna get to find maaaasteeeer..." She moaned aloud to no one in particular. She would rather hunt for her master on her own but these stangely formed passages were confusing and Mildra would most likely get lost in them. Pojo gave a few clucks and flapped her wings feeding Mildra instructions. Pojo had picked up on her companions anxiety and come up with a suitable plan for ditching this brainless girl. "Ahhh missy Mildra has to go potty! Where's a corner so Mildra go gooooo..." Mildra complained. While Pojo's plan called for Mildra to escape using the bathroom as a means to slip away Mildra actually had to go to the bathroom so she got a little confused in the instructions. Mildra held her crotch tight and squeezed her legs together at the knee's dancing about to show that she did in fact really need to tinkle badly making a grimacing face for added effect. The snickering boy continued his purple frenzy as he left a purple trail behind him, as if he were taunting the fact he was invisible. Slowly he inched across the floor, moving his legs inwards and then pushing his upper body forward, much like a caterpillar. His arms stayed awkwardly by his side as he crawled down the stairs with a whimsical smile sitting upon his face. He continued his snickering as he got away, each second millions of thoughts rushing through his mind, none of which made sense to anyone who wasn't drunk like he was. His nose was pressed against the ground with each movement, the scent of pine filling his nose with each movement, which relaxed him a lot more than he expected. He kept moving across the deck, around barrels and around the mast in a large circle. He picked up his pace for seemingly no reason what so ever and his huffing and puffing became a loud audible level. The carpet below him become soft with each rotation before he began to climb up the mast in a spiral motion and at dazzling speed. He wasn't even sure what was happening anymore he was just moving now because he was feeling strange, something was wrong here. As he climbed up, the sails became within his grasp and as he reached he felt everything in him shut down. His eyes slowly closed and his entire body fell sides ways off the pole and to the ground below. If it wasn't for the fact he had climbed nearly to the top, he might've actually died, if not been seriously hurt by the fall. He fell forward, the same direction he was aiming, and slipped down the sail and rolled like a barrel. As he reached the edge of the sail, his body stopped moving and he remained completely still. At first it would seem he had died, his hand dangling motionlessly from the sail, his other on top his belly as a series of loud snores escaped his mouth. He ran himself completely out of energy, having regurgitated anything he had eaten before, and the alcohols effect still holding him, he wasn't even aware of it. |

Dressel seemed to be taken back for a split second at 'Romwell' as he rebutted his accusation of acting, his face setting harder as his words were rebutted and Romwell even pointed out the obvious implications of his crimes racking up against him. Dressel was too level headed to smack him around for the implication that he needed help against the Marines, but it was still angering to hear something pointed out that proved Dressel 'needed' the assistance, or at least the cover. It was enough to make him stand up at very least and he looked ready to retaliate at the man with words or fists...Until Nat did his job. Well. The cat man leaping at the mast and scrambling up it while looking as he did made Dressel stop and turn to the man, staring and blinking. He'd been rendered speechless at least three times since these men came aboard his ship and this was certainly an instance of it... "Err, you might want to fish your man off the mast. I think my men shared some of the rum with him and- Ridnao!" he called, turning his his First Mate as Nat fell and Dressel moved his arm, that liquidy substance moving. He'd have used it to cushion the man's fall but it would have still trapped him in a layer of glass for a bit. Ridnao practically kicked off the railing of the ship and a strange flurry of feathers followed her...Until the man caught on the side of the sail and ended up curled on the wood and ropes. He had passed out. Dressel sighed loudly now and thumped a little as he sat back down in his chair. Ridnao was standing on the railing beside Nat, her feet strange talons that latched onto the wood well. Her entire form had shifted to that of a sandy blond, feathers covering most of her arms, her neck, even some of her chest was down and feathers. Her hands and feet were in talons and she had a bird-like contour to her face, a break stretched from her lips. And she was standing with her arms crossed, glancing down at Romwell, Elizza and Dressel. "You want me to bring him down?" she asked, still clinging holding onto the mast with her feet-talons. "It wouldn't doooo you much goooood..." Elles said, sighing as he leaned against the side of his cell, lifting the bottle of rum to his lips and uncapping it again as he took a downed gulp, glancing over to Aoime now. He liked her too...Figures he'd get stuck in a cell block with two crazy hot chicks with fetishes for death implements. "Weee're right above the guard house, which has all the confiscated junk in it...A few dozen Marines are inbeeeetween you and your stuff. Plus if you set off a round in here they'll come running and then they will definitely strip search private plaaaaces." he said. A brief chuckle escaped him as he pulled the rum back once more and took a deep drink, then pulled the rum away and set it down on the floor. "Just sit tight laaaadies and keep yourselves ready...Take a naaaap or plot murder, something. The boss won't let us doooown." he said simply now, head resting on the bars. |

Romwell watched in silence, and finally shook his head at the drunken boy flailing in her grasp. "Alright, Ridnao. Drop him down, me and Elizza have work to get started on. The boy...he's a crucial part of this. You have my word that none of my doing will be traced back to you. Give me five hours at the most, and you can start firing; if I haven't finished my work by then, I hardly deserve to stay alive." The warm, faraway friendship was replaced with a steely edge as he held out his hands, catching the young Nat with an exhalation of surprise, and then setting him down. "Nat, I need you to listen carefully. We're about to risk our lives once more, to help these men. Yaksha won't be joining us today, but he's putting his trust in you. You're a good kid, Nat; I can tell. And Yaksha has a lot of faith in your abilities. But you're going to have to focus here, or else Yaksha will be very, VERY upset. And you've seen the man when he's not in a good mood...do you want to be the one to explain why we failed, Nat?" Elizza watched from several feet away, her face set into a grim scowl of worry as she watched him; Yaksha was a bright mind, and a devious man, to be sure. But the marines fought and operated on a level of their own, a level Yaksha hadn't even seen yet. Her heart settled into a groove of deep, consuming fear as she grew close. The smile on her face seemed genuine to everyone but herself, and her laughter felt hollow. Though she tried to remain light, she knew that this may have been the last adventure with her captain. "What's the plan?" =================== Jay ran a hand through his hair slowly, shaking his head and doing his best to breathe steadily. "Alright, alright, alright! Calm down, I'll take you to the bathroom. Maybe we can actually figure something out then..." He grabbed her arm carefully, trying to ignore the greasy feeling as he dragged her towards a bathroom. "Do you even remember a name, Mildra? A person, a place, a thing...anything you were told. I'm trying to learn from you, so we can find out how to teach you." Edited by Yaksha, Mar 26 2010, 07:27 AM.

"The boss' way, hm?" Mariko asked, looking at Elles seriously from her couple of cells away. She was rubbing the iron bars of her prison with one hand idly, feeling the cold metal against her fingertips. "Listen, I don't really get to sit around and read the paper, and I don't spend any time with Bounty Hunters that doesn't include beating them to death. Your boss might be a big shot in the news but that doesn't mean much to me." She let out a little cackle and then flashed a smile. "Don't worry. If he's strong, I can respect him. Plus I'll owe him a favor, won't I?" She said, rolling on the balls of her feet. Mariko listened to Aoime and Elles talk a little more, mostly about the bullets. It started very softly, but began to pick up until she was laughing quiet happily. "Ke ke ha ha ha! Right beneath us? The entire guard house?" She laughed, moving her cuffs to her stomach as she almost started to tear up from laughing. "Ha ha! Blue! Blue! Listen here." She said, moving to the front of her cell and leaning against it again. "You need your toys back, don't you? Then all we need are my keys." She held back a laugh but burst out once. "Fuck me, there's no need to head through a single door!" She turned to Elles. "Oh, you'll like this too. Your men will be better armed than the Marines in no time." Something else that quickly caught Mariko's attention was Elles' suggestion that the sound of gunfire would attract the Marines. "Do you really think a little bang would bring them in?" She asked, not really asking anyone but starting to look up towards the ceiling again. "I could use a little action. Maybe if they brought in my keys it would be worth it." A smile crossed her face. Get to beat the living daylights out of some Marines, get her keys, blow the whole place to kingdom come. Of course, if they came out with something Seastone or even worse, bugged someone instead of her, then it wasn't worth it. "Eeeh, don't worry about it." She said with a sigh. "Don't wanna mess up your big plan. Even I can wait if I'm promised more fun." She explained. Mariko moved to the back of her cell and sat on the mattress that made up her bedding. She had really just been distracting herself from the meeting with Elles' big bad captain. She hadn't had to deal with a 'superior' for a long time, and she certainly hadn't respected that son of a bitch she had toiled over during her formative years. Her fist clenched, her nails digging into the skin of my palm and drawing a small amount of blood. She was also biting her lip on one side, her entire body tensed as she was keeping out the bad thoughts. "Fuck, I didn't come here to get time for self reflection." She said to herself. "The bastards here are going to pay." |

The purple, carpeted cretin snored a beautiful ear shredding snore as he lay on the sail, curled beneath it's tip like a blanket. His body moved about slowly and comfortably as his chest heaved back and forth beneath each of his breaths. The Carpeting tickled him slightly each movement, but if he wasn't in such a deep sleep, he'd have gotten up and done something about it already, most likely wake up laughing like usual. Instead he rolled to and fro, like a child with a nightmare, and fell out of the sail, falling into Romwell's arms. The unconscious boy couldn't do anything while Romwell was speaking, but lay there in his arms. The teen groaned once as he rolled closer to the man's chest and his left hand slowly rose up in the shape of a question mark. He pawed at the air once or twice before it became apparent what he was doing, he was looking for the off switch. He bonked him twice on the head lightly and then was placed on the ground, the conversation continuing. He was talking to someone who wasn't aware of anything but the fact that in his dreams, teddy bears mugged him twice and he couldn't stop them. One Bear, one that was light blue and had a rainbow on it's belly, stopped and spoke to him the exact same words Romwell had, which made him just move about more in his sleep. |

Mildra was strung along by the arm by the girl. She was waddling along one hand still clenching her crotch tightly as if the slightest lax in her grip would cause to to lose control. On top of that she was making funny clenched up face that you'd expect a child to make when needing to go. She was probably overreacting a bit but to Mildra this was how your supposed to act when you need to potty. "Ahhhh hurry up Mildra can't hold it in much longer..." Mildra whimpered like an animal as she danced about after him. Pojo sighing and covering her face with her wing began to cluck at Mildra telling her to think about something else. "Do you even remember a name, Mildra? A person, a place, a thing...anything you were told. I'm trying to learn from you, so we can find out how to teach you." "Ahhh Mildra was always told her home was called Sarian. Mildra wasn't really told what to do by her elders, they just said that Mildra would be taking a long journey and that she'd know what to do. When Mildra came back to herself she knew she needed to find a master to teach her so that's what Mildra is gonna do!" MIldra said enthusiastically as if 150 bazillion percent sure of her words. However at restating her goal she remembered that she needed to slip away from this girl, but ooohhhh she still needed to potty! Mildra torn between her duty and her dooty was at a loss for what to do. Pojo being a rather intelligent bird figured out Mildra's frustration and began to cluck and feed her instructions. "Pojo is right, if I can make the girl leave Mildra alone for a bit and let her go then she can run away!" Mildra thought to herself getting the perfect idea. "Ooohhh noooo! Mildra can't hold it any longer! She's gonna pee herself right now!!!" MIldra shouted aloud. The tone of her voice and pitch was obviously staged and if you knew any better you'd see it was fairly obviously a bluff. However faced with the alternative of it being true was it worth taking a risk. Mildra pulled her arm back and squatted down over the floor and lifted up her lower animal skin exposing her lower half and getting into a ready to pee position. She was hoping he'd run or turn away embarrassed and leave her alone so she could pee and flee, if he didn't, well she'd just have to pee on his feet then, that'd show him! |

Romwell stared down at Nat, and shook a head distastefully. "You can sleep soon enough, Nat. There's work to be done for now." He nudged the boy gently with his shoe, before speaking in a cool, relaxed voice. "Alright, Hawkins...we're going to have to take more than a few risks here. But if we do this right, we can get out of here without any real losses." Inside of Hitsuji Archipelago, the bar was hard at work being repaired. Many of the people remained tight-lipped about the events, only claiming someone had lost their temper and gotten what they'd deserved. Romwell was thoroughly confused, but then he thought back to what he had been told by Dressel; this island was inhabited by bounty hunters, hoping to make their money from turning in pirates that stopped in. No doubt, someone had put up a bit more of a struggle than expected, and now they were trying to fix it up. There was little work done so far, only an empty expanse of ground where various planks had been lain. From what he could tell, it had only been a few days since it had happened, and it was impressive enough they'd even gotten this far. There didn't seem to be any real way to get a drink at this point, as most of the alcohol had gone up with the bar. That was one part of Romwell's plan down, but a relatively simple one to remedy. He simply began to ingratiate himself with those in the city, doing his best to find his way through the treacherous town. It was nearly twenty minutes before a woman began to move noiselessly through the city, seeming to exude an aura that bespoke ferocity and danger. Had anyone been asked to describe a pirate, she would've been one of their first thoughts. Her face held a faint disdainful smile as she drew close to a stall, oblivious of the men closing in around her, or the gentle rustling of hands entering pockets. "My name is Elizza. I'm going to need a barrel of dried meat. And try to hurry, can't you? I've got some people that are looking for me." "People hunting a woman as lovely as you? They sound like complete savages. Tell me, what could you possibly have done that upset somebody that much?" Romwell spoke with a soothing tone, his gaze shifting to the shopkeeper long enough to lock eyes. The shopkeeper nodded beneath his stall, no doubt referring to a gun he hid beneath it, as the man grew closer. "Don't tell me you ran afoul of pirates?" "More like marines. I used to be one of 'em, but I got tired of all that shit. About a year ago, I stepped right into my lieutenant's office and told him to shove my uniform where he pulled it from. You have any idea how skimpy that thing was? May as well have been painted on..." "Sounds dreadful, miss! And, tell me...were they sorry to see you go? I know the marines take things like desertion seriously." "Sorry!? They were PISSED! Those bastards have been chasing me ever since, nipping at my heels and hoping to interrogate me. Said they suspected I was in cahoots with revolutionaries, said it was why I joined in the first place." Romwell shook his head, tutting in mock sadness as he drew close. "Well, it's only fair I buy your supplies for you. A woman like you shouldn't worry about marines right now." "Why the hell not? I've worried about them the rest of m-" She stiffened as a dagger pressed against her lower back, and Romwell spoke in the same jovial tone, as if he wasn't holding her life at the end of a blade. "Because you'll be quite occupied enough with bounty hunters. Shall we walk, miss?" ======= The Hitsuji marine outpost wasn't in the best of shape, as Romwell entered, holding Elizza's arm in his own, and his dagger in the other. There seemed to be a marine at the front desk, occupied with reading. His gaze narrowed in quickly, but he didn't spot any glass wristband; not an ally, then. Nevertheless, they would make a certain leap in the right direction. Romwell cleared his throat gently, and shoved Elizza forward. "According to this little woman, I've found a marine deserter. Said her name was Elizza, claims to have left about a year ago. I'm not sure if you have a bounty out on her, but nonetheless..." He shrugged, and then backed against a nearby wall, leaning. "Where would we be if the marines started dropping out at a whim? I don't particularly care about money, but I would like to know that the marines will do something about this nasty mess." Elizza turned to him, and gave a glance that could've only been called venomous if the person watching was optimistic. Her lips curled back into a growl, and her voice came out as a rough cry made even more hoarse by hatred. "You'll get yours, hero. Just wait, someone will come for you." ====================== Jay listened to her words with half his attention, the other half dedicated to trying his best to hold back the throbbing headache she was bringing him. His ears twitched as he heard her mention a name; sounded like Sarian? He began to mentally file through a file cabinet, but he drew a blank. There weren't any places called Sarian Island that he remembered. He paused for a second, thinking to himself. If he could talk to this girl, if he could find that island, he could get a reward that he could be proud of! All he had to do was- "Yeah, that's cool, go ahead and-wait! You're gonna...here!?" He lept forward, trying to scoop the girl up in time, and carry her to the nearest bathroom. His eyes were squeezed nearly shut, and he was doing his best not to peek at this greasy girl, as he rushed to the bathroom. "Coming through! Girl's gotta pee!" |

Nat lay on the ground, nudged by the foot of this Romwell Character, he nudged it off and waved his hand behind him telling him to stop. But he was persistent, he wasn't quitting and the boy was now becoming annoyed, and as he opened his eyes and looked ahead, he felt a burning. Not the normal burning the kind of burning that was only caused by a mid summer sun at noon, heck even a solar eclipse. His hand shaded his eyes and he groaned as he rolled onto his belly and put his face on the wood. Why was it so bright all of a sudden? why was his head pounding the way it was? He had not the answer to either question, but he didn't want to move right now. "Man...you're timing sucks...Terribly." He pushed himself off the ground slowly and got up to his ass, sitting there, his eyes half closed like he was high. He raised his right over his eyes, resting it on his forehead and squinting more and more as Elizza and Romwell began to leave. Nat stood up lazily, dragging his feet and slouching, before turning and waving to the people with a rather grumpy expression. He erked his way off the boat and followed them for a few seconds, and then he remembered where they said they were headed. He'd just meet up with them later. Slowly he stepped to the marine base, a place most Pirates would dread to go, and usually was forced to go by marines or Bounty Hunters. The building stood tall and just looking at it made it obvious what it was and why it was there, it was like the single beacon of justice on the island and it had to be what it was. Nat stood in front of it and looked out for the two, Elizza and Romwell, though that didn't last long. He ended up with his forehead to the wall as the footsteps of another person began to ring through his ears. Each step felt like it was boring into his skull from the back and through his forehead, sticking him to the wall. He groaned loudly and then a voice seemed to crack open the last barrier that held him together. "Excuse me Miss but you promised me Beli from my last capture! i want it no-- Hey! Hey!" The blonde girl shrieked as Nat came at her, though unfortunately, he wasn't nearly fast enough and ended up with a knee to his chin, knocking him to the ground. He hit the floor on his belly and looked straight ahead to her feet, which suddenly changed angles, and as he rolled to his back, he found an arrow pointed at his face. He blinked twice as the girl's face was nothing but a shadow in front of the sun, but it seemed familiar, he knew her. As his eyes fell down her frame, he realized she was wearing the cloak he saw earlier, heck even her hair was the same blonde. Slowly he got up only to have the arrow slide against his forehead and push him back down, and hearing her voice again, sealed it. "I'm giving you till the count o- "Amelia?" He interrupted as he lay on his back, blinking in his purple cat suit, which slowly died away to nothing but a shade of white. His ears twitched and for a second her face softened and the bow was moved back, the tension decreasing as she studied his face. It only lasted a few seconds, and quickly the bow snapped back to position and her face grew into a very angry expression. She cut her eye and turned her head slightly, looking at him with a clearly very analytical eye. She moved back and allowed him to stand up, Nat turning his back to the women as he looked into Amelia's eyes and didn't make a single move. Inhaling he let the carpet on his face recede, his eyes changing to a soft expression, as he ignored his headache, he couldn't seem hurt when she smiled at him and dropped her bow. "Nat!!" She said happily as she ran forward and held Nat in a hug, just as Romwell showed up, the carpet growing back again. He wasn't sure who Romwell was, but he didn't want him to see his real face, he'd have to see the face of the kitty. |

The marine at the front desk snapped his head up as soon as the door creaked and Romwell entered. "According to this little woman... that the marines will do something about this nasty mess." The marine sighs in relief, "Well, we take deserters seriously here I assure you." He said with a mechanical grin. "Leave her with us, we'll take over from here." He reach over to the intercom and called over another two of his comrades. "Take her to the back." He looks back to realize Romwell was till around. "You can leave now," he said nodding his head at the door, "We got her now. Leave your address on the way out, we will contact you if anything turns up." |
