Things started to slowly come into view through a fog of drugs and exhaustion. Looking up at the familiar cold stone walls, Mariko played through what she had been doing last. Ah, that's right. She had landed in a town after getting off a ship, then she had... Oh, there was a bar. She had gone in for a drink when... Mariko grumbled to herself and tried to stretch, but found that her body was weak and she was restrained. "Ugh. Shit." She swore to herself, lolling her head around to try and get things settled back into her brain. She had just wanted a simple drink, but things never turned out that well. There were a couple of guys that wanted to turn her in, then she blew up some stuff. Mariko raised an eyebrow as memories of the battle flooded back into her head. The Cyborg and the sniper, they had come to bother her pretty quickly. The Cyborg had been pretty tough, or at least he must have been in a lot of fights, but she outdid him in brute force. The other guys... Goddamn poisoned bullets took her down in the end, but he hadn't survived either. Well, they might have lived, she didn't care. Oh! Things were starting to make sense now. Like termites out of the woodwork, Bounty Hunters had crawled out of the town once she had cracked it in half. Mariko could have taken the bunch of them, if she hadn't been half freaking paralyzed. Well, that would explain why things were looking so familiar. She had seen the inside of Marine prisons before. She hoped those Hunters got paid really well, because they'd need to replace a lot of body parts once she had gotten out. She raised her hand to scratch the back of her head, and found herself in a pair of thick cuffs. Her eyes focused on the cuff for a moment and then her brow furrowed in disappointment. "Shit." Mariko said, realising the construction of the cuffs quickly. She dropped them to the floor with a bang and then lifted and dropped them a couple more times to make little more than a racket. "Oi, who's about this goddamn place?" She called out, finally taking the time to actually look around her surroundings. |

The area Mariko examined was a long, dark corridor like expanse, which held a line of cells on either side of it. The cell directly opposite the woman was empty, as were the two either side; it seemed that Mariko was the only one in the area, until she caught a glimpse of movement in a cell a few blocks down the corridor; unable to make out who or what it was at first, it soon vanished back out of view and back to where it had once come from. At least she wasn’t alone, right? Thud. Thud. Thud. The familiar sound of the seastone cuffs belonging to a Devil Fruit user being tested to see if they could be broken with an amount of brute force. It was loud, very loud, echoing throughout the dank, grey corridors, which in turn made it seem even louder than it originally had been. Easily grabbing the attention of everyone in the nearby vicinity, the usual show of the new inmate trying to grab the attention of the Jailors wasn’t exactly an overly unheard of things; it was just damn annoying when they weren’t able to be shut up. It was a plague upon the ears to all of those who could do nothing about it, and worst of all, they always seemed to do it at some times early in the morning. After the new inmate shouted to attempt to grab the attention of anyone in the nearby vicinity, there followed a few moments of deadly almost deafening silence, which was only broken by the sound of droplets of water falling from a corner of the corridor where the rainfall had managed to sneak its way through and finally get into the building and was finally beginning its decent from the inside, further down and onto the floor creating another puddle for someone to have their face grinded in. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud. After a couple of minutes of the silence, it was crudely shattered by a return of Mariko’s thumps of her cuffs previously with a more powerful, even louder set of bangs which came from the end of the corridor where a set of four figures could soon be made out strolling up it. At the head of them was a tall, muscular, dark skinned man with a sheathed sabre held in his right hand. It was apparent that he had used the weapon to bang against the bars of a prisoner’s cell he just happened to be next to at the time, but oddly other than that, it remained deafly quiet; just the low hum of the bars resonation dying away. “Not so nice when someone does it back now is it, missy? ” The man’s voice was low and deep, holding a strong tone of authority within it. After making his way closer to her cell, flicking his eyes casually into the others uncaringly, just a brief glance to make sure that they were not doing anything they shouldn’t be doing. Stopping right before her cell, he made a motion with his hand for the others in his group to continue their patrol whilst he would stay with Mariko. He had a small smile on his face and his narrowed eyes were looking directly into the girl before him’s. “You know. The others in here don’t take kindly to be being woken up early, but then again… Who does? I hope your residence is all that you hoped it would be Ma’am; we do try our best to give the best quality to our patrons.” Chuckling to himself as his smirk turned into that of a sneer, he eyed the woman up and down a couple of times before he seemed to find no more interest in her and simply turned and followed in the direction hi had sent his men to. His footsteps echoed throughout the corridors as he made his way out of the area; the clank and slam of a large door being open and shut could be heard in the distance, which insinuated that either he or his men had left the section of the prison they were in. Soon enough, the area fell back into the penetrating silence which had been there previously, the droplet of water finally being able to be made out once again, its slow tune drumming out into the corridor. He lay in the corner of his cell, his face turned away from the window high upon on the wall. He hadn't slept very well that night, but then again, when you were in a prison cell, every minute you got was crucial. The sun streamed through the window and pounded on his back, but he was blocking all of this from his mind. All he focused on was a blue sea, and himself on a boat, sailing through the calm seas. Each time he was close to losing himself, he would return to those seas to calm himself; he was in this very cell because he hadn't gotten to those calm seas quickly enough. Now, as he tried to drift back into sleep, a loud clanging filled the cell block; it sounded like stone hitting on stone, and his eyes snapped open quickly, full of hatred and venomous spite. The pounding stopped after a moment, and he was almost ready to rise and greet their newest addition, before it began, further down the cell block. This one was more authoritative, and it sounded almost taunting compared to the last. He knew the warden's games when he heard them, and it was no surprise when a voice shattered the silence; all hope of sleep lost, he turned around, pushing to a sitting position and looking at the one who had woken him up. He could see little from his cell, but she looked like a woman, and a badly wounded one at that. Blood stained her clothes, and her hands were clearly shackled in front of her. The warden left, and he rose from his bunk, walking towards the bars and shaking his head. "New girl? Better learn your place around here, and quick. Some of us don't like to be woken up. Some of us aren't that nice. You're a lucky girl, being locked up by yourself. But you better hope to whoever you worship that we don't end up in that cell." He ran a hand through his dirty, unkempt hair, and sneered at her. "Goddamn newbies...never know how this shit works..." He moved back towards his bunk, flipping the bird nonchalantly as he did. "Name's Vance. Don't much care about your name; I'll just call you Noisy Bitch." |

Mariko wasn't very surprised to find that she was able to get a response from one of the Marines. The man who came in was very direct and authoritative as well, giving her suggestions about her best options. Mariko smiled at him as he spoke, and then spoke a couple simple words as he turned to leave. "See you later." She said with gravitas, watching him leave before she twisted her shoulders to make sure that she was able to get comfortable in her new bracelets. Mariko had been looking for a response from others, but it took a good amount of time to finally happen. They wouldn't speak with a guard around, after all. She pulled herself up, taking a slow checklist of her wounds. It had been a couple days, so she was able to move, but the gunshot in her leg wasn't going to heal by itself. Breathing was a little difficult as well, after getting pounded into a building by that cyborg. With the poison out of her system though, she was ready to roll. "Yo." Mariko said, moving to the front of her cell and leaning against the bars. She could see some of the men being kept nearby, but her eyes were on the bars and the lock. Didn't seem like anything more than her cuffs were seastone either, so at least she had some of her strength. "Let's get a few things straight, right off the bat." She said conversationally, pacing the front of her cell and taking in the lock from every direction. "First of all." Mariko began, her voice proving that she was in a bad mood. "I don't plan to stay, so put me down for visitor. I know my place, and it's standing on top of the fucking heap of the lot of you." She added with venom, swinging her arms like a sledgehammer and bashing her cuffs into the locking unit on her bars, causing a loud slam to echo through the chambers. She grunted a little from the impact, it causing the cuffs to shift on her wrists painfully. "Second, Vance, get used to me being noisy. I don't go down quietly at all." She added, swinging her arms back and slamming it once more into the lock. The noise echoed again, and the pain in her arms started to give Mariko a slight chemical high. She could feel where a dull bruise was no doubt forming on her skin, and she took a moment to relax against the bars. She smiled a little to herself, mostly because of nostalgia, but didn't plan to stick around for any mere thing. "Third, now let me be serious." Mariko said, looking to the lock unit to see what kind of damage the Seastone blows had done to it. "Once I get these cuffs off, I'm out of here." She said seriously. "And when that happens, you'll be given two choices. You'll get the hell out of this place on your own two feet or dragged out of the rubble." With a grunt and a half-charge, she shifted into another swinging blow into the locking unit. The additional voice caused her to let out a grunt on contact. Sure that attention would be on her in no time, she took a couple breathless steps away and leaned against the slick back wall of her cell. |

The pounding woke more then just Vance, actually it seemed to wake a lot of the cell block up. Most of them were content to bitch about the woman until they grew bored of it and fall back asleep quietly until she went on another bashing rampage, most of them now glaring at her. In a place for pirates, women were rare. In fact, they didn't even let female jailers in the place at all. So Mariko's appearance, gender and apparent complete disregard for the rules of the prison put her on a scale the other prisoners were quick to not so gently admonish, especially the fact she was alone in her cell. That pissed them all off, no one even got a shot at it which was evidently a very big affront to everything about it. In particular though one man in a cell probably three bars down from hers was completely unphased. No shackles and curled up in a corner in the same cell as another man who was covered in bandages and seemed unconscious. The man in the corner was -weird-. He had bright, obviously dyed green hair and various parts of civvie clothing, including a purple jacket folded under his head and a pair of flip flops. He looked young and didn't exactly seem like he was too interested in waking up until Vance did and started throwing his weight around like he did, causing him to groan aloud and slowly he pushed himself up, leaning on his bars as Mariko finished her banging, ranting and pacing, him leaning on his cell with his arms looped through the bars. No chains or cuffs, not like Mariko was. "Shaaa...Don't let Vance over there get you toooo riled up, freshie. It's like baiting a bear, in both senses of the wooord." he said, his voice thick with an accent that one would attribute to a lazy airhead or something, though the grin on his lips as he riled Vance up further spoke levels of deviance one wouldn't find in his obvious comparison. He kept himself in that pose for a while too, legs crossed at the ankles and him almost bent over at the waist to watch through the bars. The men in the cells between his and Mariko's own were also not as bothered by the banging as everyone else was, but most of them too were injured to really move or gripe. One in particular had his jaw smashed in. "Maaan. No one welcomes the new kids to the cells anymore. I'm Elles, freshiiie. Welcome taaa' Hitsuji Base Prison. You must'a fucked up real bad if a doe-eyed thing like youuu slipped in those cuffs.." |

Mariko looked across the way at the actual weirdo who was locked up a little further down. With barely anyone talking, it figures that it'd be a dyed-hair guy with a purple jacket who'd speak up. Not that Mariko could say too much for herself, a Devil's Fruit would normally be enough for anyone to call her a freak. The woman stretched her hands above her head and twisted once or twice to flex out the muscles. "Eh, I don't really give a damn." She commented, lowering her hands again. She paced slowly around the area of her cell, keeping an eye on the individual bars and the lock as well. Her eyes kept flashing down the dark rows to the man who continued to talk to her for his own amusement, it seemed. "Elles, huh?" Mariko answered, listening carefully through the accent. She walked to the door of her cell and reached her hands through the bars, stopped almost immediately by her cuffs. She rested her hands on the bars nonetheless, feeling the cool metal on her skin. "Yeah, they must figure I'm really dangerous." Ripping herself away from the bars, Mariko's arms swung to the side from the force before she tightened her muscles and swung back. The cuffs slammed into the lock of the cell with a resounding slam, echoing in the silence. She winced a little from what might have been a broken rib from earlier, then placed her hands back onto the bars where they had been, resting comfortably. "Mariko." She said without any real subtext. "It's Mariko Hel Eljudnir. Pleased." She responded, running her tongue along her teeth. |

The man seemed to languidly lean against the bars even further until he was practically hanging off them, though he kept those equally green eyes on Mariko as she spoke. Indeed, the banging was a little odd but it didn't seem to bother him even half as much as the other men laying about in the various cells, who all seemed to grow agitated even further as she insisted on banging about once more. But most of them had seemingly accepted her smashing and banging as a fact of the jail for the moment, save the occasional call of 'keep it down, bitch!' or 'Shut the hell up!' loudly yelled down the corridors, though probably not enough to lure the guards back down to the cell and have them intervene just yet. There was certainly going to be a guard or two stomping his way down the hall soon, but no one really seemed to particularly care. "Ahh, Mariko huh? Nice taaaaa' meet you, though I'm thinkin' your lying...Not a soul's pleased to be locked up in this god-forsaken hole of ahhhh' hole." he replied back to the woman in the cell, shrugging his shoulders and grinning at her...Though his own words contradicted with his actions. He was -clearly- enjoying himself and seemed pleasantly different from the rest of them, who were all too stuck in the rut of just laying there like dead fish, sitting in the corner of their cells or glaring at Mariko and Elles too. He didn't actually seem to notice any of them but the first Pirate he'd verbally abused. A shift and he was actually twisted around the bars now, bent over backwards somewhat to look at Mariko in an upside down fashion with his arms through the bars, hanging onto them. "What'd they put you in for, then? Doesn't seeeem like you're the type to warrant getting all shackled uuuup for...Actually, ya' seem worse with those things on." he said, though at this point it was a little odder to actually converse with him...The man was basically just completely bent against his cell door and seemed to have no problems with that at all. It was a wonder he didn't fall on his ass from the odd balance stat he had to be in, but whatever. It was also quite unsure if he was actually serious or just playing with the woman's head, but either way he was -equally- as annoying as could be. |

Mariko could see many of the other prisoners shuffling around. She gave a grin to the bunch of them, or at least to those that looked her way, as if to say 'Aww, did I wake you up?'. She pulled her hands from the bars and started to look around her front door where the welding was at the top. This place couldn't have been well kept, after all it was just a place for criminals to rot and wait. Still, prisons were made with wear and tear in mind and the Marines had money to spare. Mariko picked up on one particularly poor looking welding job though, at least from her side, on the front of her cell. There were crossbars in the way, true, but she wasn't completely focused on logical escape plans. Right now she just wanted to break the hell out of something. She pulled her arms above her head and back, then moved forward with her weight and the energy of the swing. It was an overheaded slam directly into one of the bars, using the connecting piece on her cuffs to strike it and let her hands go through. The blow caused the cuffs to dig into her skin a bit, but that still wasn't anything she worried about. "Eh? Why am I here?" Mariko asked, looking at her impact point and seeing if she had done anything more than dent the bar and shred rust off of it. "The usual, I guess." She said, not really paying attention to anything other than the construction. "Came into town for a drink, met a couple jackasses. Blew up the bar, blew up a couple other buildings, beat the shit out of a pair of Marine officers." She listed off, squinting in the half-darkness to see if another strike would do any good. "Fucking poison knocked me out and they set me up here. At least I slept it off." She added. |

The prisoners were not amused with Mariko's attitude, for sure. But with her in her own cage there was nothing to be done and, for the most part, the angry glaring and chatter had died down considerably. Though it might have been because she stopped smashing at the bars so much, leaving a nice gap of time for people to curl up and ignore the world to nap once more. There was nothing else to do in these damned cells; Rot away and die while sleeping and waiting for the three quarters of a meal they were allowed each day. For a small base, it seemed like noone held any hope of escape or better yet, rescue. In fact they all seemed strangely forlorn, save those who'd been beaten senseless in some of the cells. Marine brutality? Or were there frequently fights amongst some of the inmates? Either way... As she slammed into the bar with her cuffs in such a decidedly powerful way, everyone in the cells seemed to flinch but Elles. Her attack had done very little to damage the bars by itself but there was a clear score in the steel strength bars. It'd probably take her an hour of smashing, but eventually she'd be able to break one of the bars...Though that wouldn't help her much. The seastone was far from giving way. Elles snickered some as she told him about how she'd ended up here and he shrugged, looking at Mariko clearly as he turned his body once more. It might've been a play of the light or the darkness, maybe her depth perception or just his languid movement state; but when he turned his body around it looked like he never stepped back, like his arms and head passed through the bars to return to a 'standing upright' position. Accompanied by a sly grin and the subtle sound of shuffling, like papers in a sheaf blowing in the wind. "Thaaaaat's the problem with these Marines...No sense of compassion for yaaaa. They're just always trying to get in the way of a liiittle fun and wrecking the whole thing..." "Me..." he said, now pulling himself up straight and groaning as he stretched his arms up a little, a soft snap echoing as if he was loosening a joint. "I got a little too drunk last night, mightaaa gotten in a little trouble trying to scam a couple Marines out of their paychecks...I got into a spot and had to beat on them." |

Mariko leaned against the bars once more, her skin occasionally touching against the cold metal of the bars and cooling her more than chilling her. She had finally bored herself out of striking at her cage, she'd wait until later when she felt like doing it or save her energy for the guards. "Ahh~, this is no good." She said, looking to her weird fellow prisoner Elles as he continued his strange contortionist act. He looked like he was moving through the bars and it caught her eye almost instantly. There was a clang as her cuffs hit the iron when she pushed herself closer to the bars to try and get a clearer look through them. "Yeah, always getting in trouble when a little bit of the drink is involved." Mariko answered, narrowing her eyes at him a bit. Well, it was true though, she had gotten in a lot of trouble after drinking, but that wasn't really the cause for her doing that in the first place. "Though it looks like you've got a little more up your sleeves than what'd just get a Marine's paycheck." She told her, smiling a little bit. If he was really something special, then she'd need him if she was going to get of here. Her smile widened across her face into something half-crazed and predatory. "Sobered up now and ready to have some more fun?" She asked. |

Her frustration with the bars and her own situation made Elles somewhat chuckle though, he seemed to know a bit about seastone and what it did. And how strong it was, though he didn't know the difference between pure and impure seastone. Though as Mariko picked up on his power, Elles motioned to the men in the cells around him and grinned as he stood back up, this time his head seeming to visibly pull through the bars without injury. Either he was made of air, or something was odd here. "I would be in thaaa mood for a lot of fun and payback for this damned place, but my men here are in no shaaape to bust out with mee...But if I know my captain, he'll be here aaaany day now..." he said, smirking at the woman. "Maaaybe I'd better fully introduce myself fiiirst, beforeee getting ahead of myself..." he said, motioning to his chest as he turned around a bit, looking down the hall to check none of the Marines or the Warden were wandering about looking to cause trouble. And then when he was sure no one was watching, even casting glances around to the cells nearby. The other prisoners weren't interested anymore, especially with Mariko giving up. And then Elles turned to her once more, reaching his arm out and pushing it against the bar of his cell. His arm seemed to split down the middle against the bar and the two sides of his arm suddenly seemed to turn into a white mass, almost cream-white. And he continued to do so as he spoke, saying "I'm the Second Mate of the Dressel Pirates. Pleased taaa' meet you." softly before pulling his arm back. The white mass seemed to slide around, briefly showing what looked like movement before both sides of his arm connected again and he grinned at her, flexing and moving the now repaired hand. The sound of paper moving in the wind came again and he waved a few fingers. "I'm not leaving without my crew though...But when the rescue comes, if you're fast enough, maaaaybe the Captain will want ya' aboaaard...You seem like you're interestiiing..." he said, grinning a bit. An invitation to join the Dressel Pirates upon escaping perhaps? Or maybe just a declaration that she wouldn't get left behind when they did escape. |

Mariko really couldn't believe her ears as the weirdo across the way explained that he was part of a pirate crew that got picked up. Well, pirating was normally done in groups, so she could understand that, but she couldn't imagine wanting to hang out around the cages. "No man left behind, huh?" Mariko asked, looking for a spot in the middle of her cell to sit. All of her walking around and pounding at the gate had caused her ribs to hurt a bit again, and she needed to catch her breath and relax. Mariko slumped down and sat cross-legged with her seastone cuffs in her lap. "I'd suggest blowing open a path large enough to lead an invalid through, but I can't swear for a damn to take any of your crew out with me." She said with a frown. She couldn't really lie about her intentions. She'd happily walk out of the building, destroying anything in her way, and leave Marine corpses behind for the men to walk over. But actually helping them out? Might as well save that for a 'rescue team'. Leaning back a bit, Mariko twisted her spine to crack her back a little, getting herself comfortable. "I don't know where I'm going once I'm out of here," she began, picking at her teeth with a fingernail, "But the last thing I need is to get stuck on a pirate ship with you lot." She ran her tongue over her back teeth and then looked across the way. "No offense." She added plain-faced. Letting out a long, exhausted sigh, Mariko titled her head back and looked at the ceiling. "God I hate waiting. I hate waiting for a ship to dock, I hate waiting for a storm to end, and I really hate waiting for something to happen in a goddamn prison." She lamented, tilting her head to the side. "I hope he misses you." She told Elles. "Your Captain." She explained, leaning forward a bit. "I don't mind doing my part when he shows up." Mariko added, looking straight into the lock of her cage. "This place..." She started slowly, her eyes almost losing focus. "I think I'm going to knock the whooooooole place down." |

On the horizon, a rather small boat could be seen sailing forward; the sail was stark white, not even the slightest mark on its surface, as it rippled in the breeze. Just beneath it, a man stood proudly on the bow of the ship, staring dead ahead as the ocean waves crashed against the ship. The salty spray shot in front of him, but he didn't even seem to recognize, save for a faint, faraway smile that spread across his face as the smell of the sea filled his nostrils. All of it gave him the greatest high of nostalgia as he remembered the years he'd spent on the high seas since shoving off from Loguetown. His latest stop had been the first on his long plan of stops, each promising as much spectacular adventure as he'd had on Desertia. Behind him, Elizza sat on the floor's ground, staring at the sky and giggling softly. "The boy. Can we trust him? He's not even out of puberty, and he's got a literal treasure chest within his grasp." Yaksha turned slowly, with a speed that made it seem like his head was on some sort of complex mechanical contraption. The eyes were twin hard-edged gemstones, both valuable and sharp, as he spoke in a voice with cultured clipped ends; it was a voice that spoke of gentlemanly duels, of some nobleman's concept of pride, as he approached her. "No one can be trusted in this world at first, not a one. Trust isn't about accepting someone for who they are, and it's not some proud, wonderful emotion. Trust is what comes when a man decides to stop trying to question and understand others, and simply lives day to day without really paying attention to those around them. So no, my dear. I don't trust the boy just yet. But on a desert like that, stranded as he would've been...the boy almost certainly trusts me. And we've nothing but time to get to know our newest doctor...." Up ahead, a much larger ship could be seen, anchored just off the shore of a nearby island. The sail was pitch black, save for the skull that could be seen; an iron-gray shade against the black, and a red symbol that could've been called a seagull to a naive observer, but Yaksha grinned as he looked at it; he'd seen the marine symbol enough times in his life to pick it out with ease. The boat was several times larger than his own, seeming almost ready to consume his ship, but Yaksha pointed at it nonchalantly. "Sevryn...let's say hello to our friends, why don't we? Dead ahead, my friend." |

Mildra bobbed back in forth inside her new makeshift home. How long had she been here? e whole world was rocking back and forth and svae for the small crack of light at the top of her square prison it was pitch black. She was currently hugging Pojo wanting to feel close to something or someone. Her soft feathers comforted Mildra, it had nt been an easy time in this mystery box and her somewhat tight hug was a little constricting to the bird however if little discomfort could put her ward Mildra at ease Pojo was glad to sacrifice as much. "Ahhhh Pojo Mildra is so tired of this constant moving, when will the ground stop shaking?" Mildra pleaded with Pojo, Pojo wiggled out of her arms and flapped herself up to perch on Mildra's head. Pojo gave a few enthusiastic clucks saying that surely this whole ordeal was soon to be over. This seemed to make Mildra quite happy and she giggled with glee at the prospect of getting out of this dark box. Suddenly there was a great rocking followed by stillness. Mildra crept her face up to the open crack and peered out, it seemed like it was the same, but she coul just make out some moving figures. She scrunched up in the middle of the crate and stayed silent thinking them to be hostile. "Ugh whats that smell?" one of the Marine complained about the strong scent of raw meat emanating from the storeroom aboard the cargo ship. "Ehh it's probably nothing, we just gotta load these ships up and get them back to the prison." The other grunted as the two of them hefted the box onto a transporter and rolled it out. It was a long bumpy ride for Mildra, much rougher than before and she tried to stay quite but a few moans and gasps escaped her lips as she was bounced up and down. Eventually they had arrived in the prison storeroom with the crate and set it down the rest of the transported boxes being shipped there as well. Feeling the ground no longer moving Mildra peeked out the whole to see what was going on, she could see there were some other boxes being moved into the area as well. "Pojo look at all the other squares! Could they be filled with people like Mildra too?" Mildra asked worried she'd somehow stumbled onto a massive trap designed to catch hungry little Mildra's looking for a meal. Surely she was a grand victim of either a very mean prank or a great conspiracy. Pojo made a few quite clucks to the contrary trying to calm Mildra down and get those kinds of crazy ideas out of her head. Though even Pojo as smart as she was had no idea what was going on. |

Time had passed very, very, very slowly inside the cells. With very little daylight to go by, Mariko wasn't sure what time of day it was, or even what day it was. She could live in the cold darkness of a ship's hold for months at a time, but that was before she had a taste of her freedom. After such a long time stuck in her own hell, being caught up in another cage was infuriating. She had paced a little bit after she was finishing sitting, and now that she was over her fun the day before, she was growing impatient. "They do feed you in here, don't they?" Mariko asked sarcastically to her strange friend a couple of cells over. "Ah, wait. You're just a temp here too. Forget I asked." She added, leaning her head between the bars as if she'd be able to slip between them with enough force. "How about one of you lazy fuckers?!" She called out suddenly, roaring a curse across the cells. "They feed you at all?" Mariko grit her teeth in anger and resolve. She was sick and tired of her position and, though it didn't matter in the greater scheme of things, she was hungry as well. After all, during her fun in the town she had only downed a little bit of booze. "I should have knocked over a bakery or something first, hell." She pointed out, knocking her head against the bars and ignoring any complaints that came from the other cells. It's not like the prisoners were going to pull out a loaf of goddamn bread and pass it over. Mariko moved away from the door and then swung her arms back, sweeping them forward into the lock again. The sound of the seastone on the metal, with the degree of force behind it that there was, was like a clear, heavy bell. "Hey you Marine fucks!" She called down the corridor. "Yeah you, I know you can hear me. The lazy ass who has to-" There was another ringing of the metals. "...'cause he can't find a-" Another hit rang out. "...to-" Another strike. "...his-" One more slam. "...!" She finished roaring. Surrounded by sailors, she could likely cause several of them to vomit or blush, depending on their personal preferences. Her tongue almost burned from the cursing. "I swear to the gods if I don't see one of you sons of-" CLONG. "...sea-donkey spawn, I'll bust this door down and beat your asses with this goddamn pair of cuffs!" She added, slamming the door's lock again. She took a pause, waiting for her words or actions to have any effect. The blue-green of the seastone was stained with red on the inside as drops of Mariko's blood began to move down her wrists. All of those powerful impacts had been enough to dig the cuffs into her skin repeatedly, and she had finally broken through and begun to bleed. It hurt, sure, but she didn't have her mind on that. The sound of her blood dripping from her finger onto the stone floor felt loud though, even while she breathed heavily from the yelling. |
