Chiyo couldn't have imagined that Blue Vearth would be so noisy. Air ripped loudly around him, a bright blue and roaring sky staring back at him through the wild halo of lavender hair that fripped wildly about him. He could feel an uncomfortable warmth on his back, something like rug-burn. For a moment, Chiyo wondered if it had really been a good idea to leave Fairy Vearth at all. No sooner had the question come up in his mind than he had remembered why; if he'd stayed, he wouldn't get to see Lapicci anymore. His stomach tightened instinctively at the memory of their last panicked moments together, reaching for her hand as he fell over the edge of their craft. "Picchan...please be safe, tsu..." Taking a moment to turn back towards the Vearth he was rapidly approaching, Chiyo noted a beige spec growing larger and larger, surrounded on all sides by the blue so characteristic of the planet when viewed from above. It seemed that's where he'd land; for a moment, he felt cheated that his first experience on Blue Vearth would not be with the blue part. Having fallen a few times in his youth, Chiyo remembered that hitting the ground could hurt a little. Recalling that strange condition he'd taken on not long before leaving Fairy Vearth, the young lapian closed his eyes and let that unfamiliar, strange coolness take over his skin, brilliant silver-white cutting edges forming along every curve of his body, his hair becoming a long, streaked trail of blades. It hurt more than he expected when he landed. It was a dull pain, hitting him all at once. The incessant roaring that had troubled him for the duration of his descent was replaced with a boom that near deafened his delicate ears. Before he had a chance to wonder any further on the oddities of his arrival, Chiyo fell unconscious. ----------------------------------------------------- "I bet I can dig it up faster than you!" "Huh, as if! Everyone knows that I'm the best excavator on the island." "Who cares about excavating? I, ace reporter Arihiko Torimo, will cover this scoop before anyone else!" "Not a chance, loser! This story's got my name written all over it!" Everywhere spectators gawked at the massive crater, wondering what the mysterious "Purple Comet" could be. Some worked at digging, others recorded what was happening. Others still controlled the crowds or sold confections. The only thing everyone had in common was their overwhelming need to boast of being the best at whatever it was they did, no matter how trivial. --------------------------------------------------------- Chiyo finally awoke surrounded by the smell of dirt. His body was constricted tightly, and it was dark. The noises that had plagued him earlier were gone, but he seemed to be having trouble breathing. Also, he didn't care much for the feel of being burried. Letting instinct take over, Chiyo kicked and burrowed slowly through the foreign soil, pushing towards what he felt would be the surface. He was tired, hungry, hot, and he missed Lapicci. There wasn't anything about the trip to Blue Vearth that he liked so far. After what seemed to the bunny to be a lifetime, the blinding, excessive blue of the new world's sky broke into sight. Chiyo pulled himself out of the hole, shaking violently to remove the loose dirt from his form. He was still dirty, a thought that bothered him to no end. He ignored the crowd of strange, earless people around him, instead choosing to search for a settlement, if such loud, frenzied barbarians even bothered settling. Spotting the town proper, Chiyo headed towards the cluster of crudely designed buildings. The dirt, the fatigue, the noise, it made him feel unhappy and insecure; he wanted a bath and a meal. He wanted all the strange people to stop staring at his ears, which sank down alongside his face as his mood worsened. At the end of his rope, Chiyo turned towards the nearest stranger. "I need a bath, tsuki! And food, too!" His large, amethyst eyes stared expectantly at the startled and confused passer-by, who took a moment to find his words. "Uhm...that building there is a tavern. Err...both those things are there, yeah..." Chiyo turned to the structure the weird earless man had pointed too. It had a sign with some animal name on it, and he could vaguely smell something that might pass for food in it's direction. Turning without any further ado towards the structure, Chiyo walked towards the tavern. "Piiiiichaaaan! I don't know what to do, tsuyo..." He pushed the doors aside, walking in, his ears slowly rising as his hopes raised. Though it took him a moment for his eyes to adjust, he couldn't see anyone in the extremely odd room except for a single man behind a strangely placed counter. Chiyo opened his mouth to ask for something to eat, but words didn't come out. A strange feeling, like the one he'd had when he first arrived on the planet, came over him. He fell forward, the world around him going black. Briefly, before finally giving back up to fatigue, a final thought crossed his mind: why did life on Blue Vearth have to be so difficult? See the world, they said. Make a name for yourself. Be someone. That was the plan. Great ambition burned in the heart of the quiet man, though his manners quickly quenched the passionate feelings before they could sneak up to the surface. He had traveled across the seas, crossed through the tunnel in the Red Line, and ended up... ...here. Broke once more. As such, there wasn't much he could do to continue his travels until he gathered up a bit of cash. Thus he was once more behind the counter, the place he knew best in the world, serving those drifting souls in sorrow and joy on the other side. It was comforting in a way, though bitterness gripped him at the thought of just how well he liked doing this. Someone content would never get anywhere in this world of great men. The sound of the doors brought his gaze up from his ever-present task. He was usually polishing glasses, not because they needed polishing, but because it was what people expected to see; It had a calming effect, of sorts. The young fellow that walked in the door needed something entirely else, though. His getup was strange, he had long, rabbit-like ears and he was covered in mud, stappling forward. Thaine had seen much worse in his time. People usually didn't come in this time of day, though. "What can I-" His voice trailed off as the youth hit the floor with a light thud. Thaine raised an eyebrow, then calmly put down his glass, walked around the bar and up to the lavender traveler. Considered his options. Then, he lifted the boy, who was surprisingly light, and placed him on a table. No costumers yet for a few hours, so it'd be fine, he reckoned. Not that he wouldn't need to clean the table, though. The customer's health came first. He took a towel, drenched it and put it on the boy's brow. And once more walked back behind the counter. He imagined the young man needed both food and drink. Thaine glanced towards the water, then disregarded it and took forth a few bottles from this morning. No man would drink water while he was behind the counter, underage or otherwise. Thus, he went about mixing fruit juices with ice in his shaker (metal, of course, for a reason different from that of other bartenders), poured it up, and placed the nonalcoholic drink on the table next to the boy. "A Cinderella is served.", he said in a soft voice, as if he had truly been serving a customer. Then, with something to preoccupy the customer's mind for a minute or two, he went back behind the counter and began to prepare a serving of the daily special. |

The dream was something like spending time in a windtunnel. That damn roaring noise, the heat of the air peeling at his skin, the rippling trail of hair...how had he ended up falling again? Hadn't he landed already...? The bunny turned and looked down, only to see he was falling back towards Fairy Vearth. He smiled widely at the rapidly approaching sight, the familiar silver turf growing closer and closer. "You idiot, pyon!" Chiyo turned around, a confused look on his face. "If you go back, then you can't be my follower, pyon!" "I...I don't like Blue Vearth, tsu..." "I don't need a follower that weak, pyon. Just go back to Fairy Vearth on your own." "N...no! Picchan..." Thaine could hear the sound of wood splitting, feel the familiar tug of a magnetic field for a fraction of a second. The small, strange boy he'd placed on the table was laying, eyes open wide and panting, in the middle of the ruins of what had been a table mere moments ago. He caught the drink as it fell towards him, staring at it in disbelief. "Pichaaaaan...don't leave me, tsukay?" Not actually thinking about it, Chiyo drank the sweet-smelling stuff he had somehow ended up holding in his hand. He closed his eyes, enjoying the coolness, the mix of strange and unfamiliar but wholly pleasing flavors. "It's tsu good..." Chiyo stated in a quiet, clear, happy voice, breathing out a tiny sigh of relief. He was tired, still, and hungry. But the feeling of dirt in his clothes and hair had become the overwhelming number-one problem with Blue Vearth life at the moment. Finding that the same strange earless was standing behind the counter, just as he had been when Chiyo entered, the young lapian made his way over to the counter. "Someone said...there's a bath here, tsu. I'd...I need to use it, tsukay?" Edited by The Unspeakable, Oct 25 2009, 05:15 PM.

Splinters all over the floor. Now, now, this was quite a problem. Thaine could not begin to understand how on earth the strange little fellow managed to break the table from just waking up; His weight had been quite close to what one would expect of an individual with a small frame like his. Replacing the table would cost quite a bit. And it would probably be his pay that got docked. Even in his economical need, Thaine could in no way demand the customer to pay something like this; It was him, afterall, that had put him upon the table. At least the glass had been saved. "I'm glad you enjoyed it." A tiny smile, and Thaine pushed away the sigh that was creeping up on his face from within. His eyes scanned the young lapian up and down, though he couldn't discern anything other than what he had noted before. Instead, he glanced towards the board where the room keys were hanging. "A room, then. I'm afraid you'll have to pay for a full night regardless of your stay today." Thaine slowly brought forth the key for room seven. Before handing it over, his stayed his hand a bit. "Could I have your name?" A thought gripped him as he once more studied the young man. "Pay in advance. House rules, I'm afraid." |

Chiyo nodded slowly and reached into the seam of his pants, along the outside of his thigh. For whatever reason, it seemed that the already bizarre clothing the child was wearing had been assembed with internal pockets. Withdrawing a bit of dirt, some very odd looking grey paper notes, and a few coins, the boy began to sort through his wealth. "How...how much, tsukiyo?" He held up one of the bizarre paper notes. "It can't be more than a hundred thousand extol, tsuki. Even if Blue Vearth is three times more expensive." He held out the bill in one hand, his other hand held out open, expectantly. |

Thaine glanced at the dirty little bill. Hundred thousand extol... ? He had never heard of it before. A hundred thousand seemed quite alot, but since the boy was offering it for a single night, he doubted this was the case in terms of worth. There was limits to his hospitality in terms of economy. Strange money didn't get him paid. In all likelyhood, this was naught but a toy bill, especially by the looks of the boy. "I'm afraid we only accept Beli. Fifty, to be precise." Trying to make out details on the dirty piece of paper, but failing, he continued; "May I ask, where are you from?" He left it at a simple question, rather than adding any insinuations about his appearance or demeanor; Such could, afterall, be taken rather offensively. Edited by Hainen, Oct 28 2009, 02:15 AM.

Staring at the bizarre earless, Chiyo's mood began to wilt. He couldn't be seriously, after all. This was good money; he was throwing around well more than a single night at the best hotel should cost, just to speed the process up. Deep inside, he knew that if Lapicci were there, she'd know how to handle such strangeness. "It's...it's a lot, tsu. I only have one belly anyway...what an unreasonable demand, tsuyan!" The young lapian reached into his inverted pockets, pulling out handfulls of similarly crumpled bills. Dozens of brilliant, strangely minted gold coins rolled out of his hands and over the floor, seemingly unnoticed. "I'll give you all of it, tsukay? I just need a bath..." After speaking, Chiyo looked down at the coins all over the floor, paying them as much mind as your average person might a pay a one beli piece. He looked back up, his purple eyes burning fiercely. The question asked a moment earlier finally sunk in, and he seemed to be overtaken with confusion. "I...I'm from Fairy Vearth, tsukiyaaaa! How stupid are Blue Vearthians?" He bent down, scooping up his lost coins, and piled everything infront of Thaine. "I really need it, tsuuuu! C'mon!" Edited by The Unspeakable, Oct 28 2009, 02:35 AM.

[Sorry for dying on you, I'll try to spawn a few failposts for you at least] Thaine had heard them all. He was the bartender, the listener. He was a wandering bank of stories and faraway tales. This place he mentioned was not mentioned in any of them, as far as he could recall, at least (There was alot of drunken comments involved, afterall.) He faced the youth with a levelheaded gaze, then glanced down at the stash of dirty, strange money. Those eyes were burning with a passion lost in most of those who visited that side of the counter. Thaine felt a sigh creeping up his throat, but blinked it away and forced it down again. "...Very well. A quick cleanup, that's all. This money cannot buy you a night here." In truth, it couldn't even buy the lavender boy a bath. A loaf of old, dried bread at most. Thaine felt once more how his kindness deducted from his pay. With a bit of luck, he could have it cleaned out before the owner found out. He nodded, and the key on the counter slid over to Chiyo with seemingly no outwards influence. "Take care." |

Chiyo's already jubilant eyes widened with excitement at being told he could wash up. The part about not being allowed to spend the night didn't seem to matter to him; he hadn't wanted to sleep there anyway. "Thankyousomuch, tsuki!" He swiped up the key which had slid over to him, not paying it's self-locomotion any mind. Running off without so much as a second thought over to the hallway that lead the rooms, Chiyo tried the first door. He squeeked indignantly when it didn't take the key, moving hastily to the next. A series of annoyed wimpers, each successively further away, echoed through the tavern, only ending when the strange child found a door that would take his key. Some hour after the bunny-eared youth had found the room, he re-emerged from the hallway. His long mane of lavender hair was shining and wet, matted against his back, his clothes still dripping slightly. Somehow, though, they were completely clean, the whites as white as unused linen, the lavenders bright and vibrant. Spotting Thaine, Chiyo rushed at the bartender full tilt. He sprung into the air, leaping over the counter with his arms open to embrace the man. "Tsuyon, I feel sooo much better!" Inspite of his flying tackle, the bizarre child didn't budge the larger man when he hit him. With uncanny grace, he transfered the entirety of the motion to the balls of his feet, spinning around Thaine's waist and letting go to stand several feet away from him, eyes wide and mouth open in a vapidly exhuberant smile. "Do you know where I can find Picchan, tsuki? It'd make me really happy!" |

His usually spotless outfit was wet. Around the waist. Just great. Stroking back his hair, which had an uncanny ability to refuse to look as orderly as the rest of the man, Thaine looked the strange boy up and down once again. A bartender with a stains was pathetic. It was like a stubbly barber, a musician with a broken instrument. The stains showed more on his professional pride than on his clothing. Though, with the boy in front of him radiant in his gratitude, Thaine simply could not get angry with him. He would have an earful or two from the boss, though. "'Picchan'? I haven't heard of it before. What kind of place is it?" That put the count of places he hadn't heard about until now to two. He was the listener, the guy you spilled things to. Thaine had heard them all, in complaints or drunken stupor. Maybe he could help the fellow on his way before he messed up too much of Thaine's daily pay. |

The young lapian's ears both started to fall, a look of mixed confusion and dissapointment taking his fair features. His mouth pulled down sadly at the corners, his amethyst eyes losing their hopeful glow. "Wh...what kind of place, tsuyo...?" Though Chiyo's voice had been optomistic and cheerful only a moment ago, it was now tainted with some seriously heavy undertones of sorrow. He continued to stare at Versey, his gloom building by the second. "How can you call her an it!?" Chiyo suddenly snapped, his ears both twisting at their base, slicking themselves back along his hair. "She is the future ruler of both Vearths! Don't," the bunny began, simmering in an anger that had welled up out of the sorrow that had materialized out of the happiness he'd been experiencing not even a few seconds earlier, "try to play such a cruel joke! Just tell me..." once more, for the second time since he'd come to this forsaken blue rock, the bunny's eyes welled up with tears. "Just tell me where she is, tsuyaaaan!" It had occured to the dancing swordsbunny earlier, as he'd re-entered the tavern's common room after his bath, that this stranger was a nice man. He'd given him delicious juice, a place to bathe, and not even taken any of his money. The shock of betreyal hit the youth much harder than he knew how to cope with. That the man before him did not know his Number One Princess never crossed Chiyo's mind. He had been warned by her, in all fairness. She'd told him that there would be those on the Vearths who would oppose their mission. From the begining, he was supposed to have been ready to deal with things like this. All the same, he wasn't. "You can't...you won't stop us, tsuki! She's your ruler, whether or not you like it! I, I...tsuyaaaan, I need to talk to Picchan! It's really really really really really important, tsuuu!" Again, the bunny's temperment shifted on a dime. Deciding to spare this earless alien because of his past services, Chiyo's glare took on a defiant nature. He planted his feet firmly into the floorboards, long gashes shooting through the wooden planks from beneath the toes and heels of his platform wedges. Once more Versey could feel the tug of a nearby ferromagnetic mass. "I'm going to find her, tsukay!?" Chiyo petulantly announced, his light and sweet voice rife with contempt, twisting it's previously innocent, harmless timbre. "I don't care what you Blue Vearthians are planning!" Spinning about gracefully on the tip of his right wedge, the delusional bunny kicked up a cloud of splinters, the boards below his foot snapping and shredding up with the motion. Right before the well-meaning barman's eyes, the boy's arms became two long, lustrous silver-white blades. His enormous fuzzy ears deaf to reason, Chiyo burst through the nearest wall in a massive explosion of fragmented wood and sheetrock. "Picchaaaaaaaan!" Chiyo screamed as soon as he had stepped through the hole he'd made in the tavern wall. "Picchan, I need you, tsuki!" As if he'd already forgotten about most recent savior, Chiyo stepped out into the mob of confused, staring humans. He began walking briskly, in no particular single direction, off on a blind search for his idol, his mentor, his best friend. Edited by The Unspeakable, Nov 29 2009, 03:43 AM.

As if the embers that burned in the boy's eyes flared out into a full fire, he exploded in an impulsive fit of anger. Thaine stared silently with a raised brow as he did. "How can you call her an it!?" His mouth fell open as he realized his mistake. "I'm sorr-" His words were abruptly cut off by the bunnyboy continuining his high-pitched rant of anger. Thaine fell silent. People turning enraged on that side of the counter was part of his everday work, almost as much as mixing drinks. He could handle that. He rarely saw people doing it without any liquor in their system, though, so this one was a rare occasion. "You can't...you won't stop us, tsuki! She's your ruler, whether or not you like it! I, I...tsuyaaaan, I need to talk to Picchan! It's really really really really really important, tsuuu!" He had tried speaking up once more, but to no avail. Now he simply sighed. The day was turning worse with every moment. Though, as if Lady Fortuna laughed wickedly in a comically exaggerated fashion at his demise, the youth before him warped his reality and wrecked the bar. The arms of the boy transformed to sharp blades, and in a flurry of blades and ears, he burst through the wall. Thaine stared with a blank look. Devil Fruit. A customer of his would have described the situation as 'What the shit?'. He was a patient man. A calm man. But at times, things happened which broke through the surface and rippled the water. With a twitching eye the only hint of what was going on in Thaine's head, someone who knew him better would have been scared. There was no way in hell the bunnytoddler would get away with this. This was far beyond ripples in the water. This was an incoming Tsunami. Ripping open a drawer, he snatched a handful of knives and forks, and them jumped over the counter to dash out on the street. Of course, with the crowd, it was hard to see, but the ears was a slight indicator of which one he might be. So, Thaine dashed off towards him. If he couldn't get the little sucker to pay, he'd have to run from the island. Once he got past the initial group of people, too, he released a handful of forks, repelled magnetically at great speeds towards the little fellow. |

Chiyo's eyes were wide open and glazed over. His jaw hung down, panicked breaths rushing raggedly into and out of his lungs. Even as they transformed to and fro horrible, destructive blades and back, his limbs trembled madly. Every now and then he'd freeze up, turn his head about nervously, and settle on a new direction to run amock in. The anger and irrationality of his argument with Versey gone, Chiyo's rampage had stirred up a new emotion; anxiety. His heart raced so fast he was sure it would explode any moment now. The young lapian's body seemed to move of it's own accord, the world around him a blur of splintering buildings, fleeing earless strangers, and terrified screams. Tears began to streak down the bunny's face. "Piiiiiiiicchaaaaaaaan!" Chiyo cried out in desperation, knocking the side off of another building. "I'm scared Picchan, tsuyan!" Chiyo felt something strike his shoulder, though in his current state his entire body was being held at metal-hardness to avoid collateral damage. He turned his head in the direction from which he was struck. Versey could see very clearly the panic in his eyes, the tears on his cheeks. He could also feel, just as clearly, the bunny's magnetic field. Spotting the man from the strange bath-building, Chiyo assumed that his goal had not changed in the past minute. He hadn't the time, desire, or courage to face this or any man, weak or strong. Blue Vearth was terrifying and loud. The lapian child turned to run, bounding swiftly through the wall of a nearby house. "Picchan, please," Chiyo gasped in anxious huffs of air, stopping for a moment inside the relative safety of the living room. "I'm scared, tsu...I'mscaredI'mscaredI'mscaredI'mscared...!" A fork struck true, though it didn't seem to glaze the boy whose bunny behaviour grew more apparent with each passing moment. Didn't stop Thaine from trying, though. Once more, he felt the strange feeling from the boy, which he had disregarded as his own imagination before. There was no way a boy could be made out of metal. Then again, that wasn't such a strange power once you considered the existance of Thaine's own. He had only met two other Devil Fruit users in his entire life, but that didn't mean there weren't alot more out there. He naturally had to try the idea. So, as the lavender little thing ducked through another wall in an attempt to hide, he stretched out his hand. On second thought, he held it for another seconds until he could move so no people were between him and his intended target. Then, using whatever power he had gotten all those years ago, he attempted to pull the boy to him, while his eyes gleamed red in an anime-like fashion. At first, kitchen utensils and other metal scraps started flying towards him, so he repelled them one at a time. But, soon... Edited by Hainen, Yesterday, 7:56 AM.

Looking around, Chiyo found himself surrounded by an earless family who, before he had burst in through the wall, had been enjoying some form of Blue Vearthian game that involved a board covered in tube-slides and flat, vertical stair-like objects. The four of them, two adults and two children, stared at the bunny with a mix of horror and confusion. "You got snake eyes!" the little girl shouted, turning her attention away from the bunny and back to the game. "Chutes! Hahaha! I am the best at this game!" Pulled from their fascination and terror with the strange intruder, the family all turned in on eachother, wildly flailing their arms in the air, caught up in some strange ritual of arguing. "Nobody is better at Chutes and Ladders than your old man, kids!" "Why, your father couldn't beat Grandma at this game! I'm really the champion..." For a moment, the scene had distracted Chiyo from his anxiety, cleared his head of the panick that had settled upon him. Was everyone on Blue Vearth so petty and prideful? When he had landed, they'd been bragging about digging, reporting...here, they bragged over some bizarre little piece of printed cardboard. Picchan would be able to make sense of it... Picchan! The young lapian's eyes welled up with tears again, his ears pressing themselves alongside his face. If he didn't find her, something on this scary, awful planet was bound to get him soon. He jumped into the air, leaping over the family and their silly affairs, desperate to find his idol. Directly over the family, Chiyo lost all of his foward momentum. The four looked up at him, and he looked around nervously, kicking his legs a bit as if to help keep him moving. All at once the family shot off into the distance. Their house had gone with them too, Chiyo noted, as he crashed through a new section of wall, the entire house and it's thoroughly perforated wall zipping away from him. Only the streets, the awe-struck pedestrians, and the rest of the world came into view did Chiyo finally realize what was happening; nobody'd been moving away from him, but rather he'd started falling again. He let out a sharp wail of displeasure, not being too keep on falling after his last experience with it. Not long after he'd started falling, Chiyo felt himself stop. He let out a sigh of relief, decidedly glad that this fall hadn't ended the same way as his last one. He didn't like feeling dirty, and somehow he doubted the bath man would let him take another. His chain of thoughts was broken when he noticed a strange sensation on his back; he could feel a hand pressed against his vest, directly between his shoulders. Turning his head slowly, Chiyo came eye-to-eye with a pissed Versey. His face froze in a look of nervous terror as he saw the red glare of his eyes, the overwhelming irritation on his face. The bunny let out a tiny squeek of primal terror. Then, he froze. Back on Fairy Vearth, Lapian children not selected for the guard were taught only one technique for self-defense: stop moving. Do not move, do not twitch, do not blink, do not even breath. Perfect stillness, that was the way to protect yourself. Whether or not it actually worked, most children didn't know. Whenever one of them was attacked, they never survived to tell the others how successful freezing up had been. Versey could feel the ingrate intruder fall from his hands, his magnetic field dissapearing all at once. He barely moved as he hit the ground, his face frozen in a look of abject terror, his eyes locked into the distance, his arms and legs pulled close to his body. So still was the bunny child that it looked, for all intents and purposes, that he'd been frozen in ice. |
