Spike watched as the large man with the big axe approached him. "This guy's in charge? Oh great. I can tell talking is really going to get us far here." Thought Spike, just as Johny Boy reached him. Spike stood staring at the curl on his head. Even after Johny Boy had stopped moving, the curl was bouncing around on the mans head. Spike had to make a forceful effort to tear his eyes away from that curl. That hypnotic curl, just dangling there. Johny Boy stood there, hand outstretched, a simple, patient smile on his face. It took Spike a noticeable amount of time to process what Johny Boy had just said. Well, noticeable to anyone paying attention other than Johny Boy.

Suddenly, inspiration struck, and Spike finally found his voice. "Well, Johny Boy, I hope it's nice to meet you. I'm Spike. I'm a representative of the world government, forestry division, and it's a good thing you're in not in charge, because someone is going to be in a lot of trouble for this. I suggest you shut this operation down now, before the name Johny Boy shows up in my report. Now if you could just point me to the person who IS in charge, I would appreciate that." Spike smiled what he hoped a world government official would smile like and silently said a little prayer to himself that Johny Boy was as dumb as he looked.

The Foreman twitched when he heard the young man speak. Well played.... It indeed was. The bumbling buffoon named Johny Boy gawked at the sudden revelation of this man being from the World Government. Tears sprung into the burly man's eyes as he raised his hands in defense. He didn't want to get locked up and go to Impel Down. He had heard so many bad stories about that place!! A handsome man like him couldn't survive in there. Not without something bad happening to him....

"They'd shave my curl!! I don't want to go to Impel Down sir. Nope, Aye, Uhu!! Momma always said you know, Aye. She said to me. Johny Boy, she said. Johny Boy. You wouldn't do well in prison, Aye. You are to handsome Johny Boy. She said that, Uhu"

If it wasn't for his strength the Foreman would never have hired this man but alas... Although intellectually challenged he was strong and somehow insanely talented at cutting wood. The Foreman turned around, a thick wad of smoke escaping from between his cigar clenching lips. Stupid as he was... Spike probably wasn't going to get an answer out of Johny Boy though. The man did know one thing, he knew the importance of this operation, he knew not to blow it, he kn-

"The Foreman's over there, Aye, Yup, Uhu"

The Foreman's cigar hit the ground sizzling as the man stood there slack jawed staring at the scene. What... The hell... That hadn't even lasted a few seconds... Was this guy truly such a huge idiot?

Spike smiled at Johny Boy as the simple woodsman pointed to a nicely dressed man who had just dropped his cigar. "Thank you Johny Boy, I'll make a note of how helpful you've been in my report. You know, you could be even more helpful if you would get the rest of your crew to stop working. All this noise is giving me a bit of a headache, and is going to make it difficult for me to speak with your foreman. You're a very good man, Johny Boy, I'm sure your momma used to tell you that all the time." Spike patted Johny Boy on the shoulder and began walking toward the man in black.

"I can't believe that worked! Somehow I don't think this guy will be so easy. Well, I've already come this far, I guess I'll see if I can talk these guys out of here. That IS what Shempa was hoping for, after all..." Spike thought to himself as he approached. The foreman had left his fallen cigar on the ground, slowly burning out. A fresh cigar was already being lit, presumably retrieved from a pocket in his suit coat.

"I hear you're the person in charge of this operation here. I think we need to have a little talk. You see, I know that you aren't supposed to be here. So where does that leave us? Are you going to shut this thing down, pack up, and head home? Or are we going to have to do things the hard way?" Spike stared down the foreman, waiting to hear his response, hoping the anxiety he was feeling didn't show on his face.

(Sorry for my slowness, had a bit of a busy weekend)

"Uhu! No problem, sir! I'll tell the rest to lay down the work, Yup! Gramps would've been proud too. Yup, always said, make something of yourself. He said that he did, Aye! Say hi to the foreman for me. Aye! He'll like it if I said hi, Uhu!"

Johny Boy didn't waste much time and got the other workers to stop as well. The foreman could only firmly plant his hand against his own forehead. That idiot was making life difficult for him.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm the foreman. But you see kid. This is just business. You know, grown up stuff. And as far as I know. What we're doing isn't illegal. So if you know what's best for you, I'd say scram."

The foreman crossed his arms. He wasn't going to let some newbie try and get between him and his money. He took out a new cigar and bit the tip off. He then proceeded to light it. He looked at Spike a little longer, before blowing smoke in his face.

"Uhu! Boss, when do we get the money, Aye?"

Johny Boy interrupted the scene. He walked to the two, dragging his large axe after him. He looked at the two, before the Foreman looked at Johny Boy.

"Soon, but escort our guest off the field, Johny Boy."

The Foreman turned around and walked off, leaving Spike in the hands of Johny Boy. The large man stared at Spike, before nodding fiercly.

"Okeydokey Foreman-Boss. Uhu, follow me sir! Boss-foreman always knows how to solve problems, Uhu, Yup!"

The proud feeling that had started building inside Spike when he tricked Johny-Boy into shutting down the operation faded almost as quickly as it had appeared. Spike coughed as the smoke from the foreman's cigar lingered around his face. He should have known that it wouldn't be that easy to get rid of these loggers. He turned to follow Johny-Boy. "Well, so much for that plan, I really thought for a minute that might work. At least now I know who's the boss around here. I guess Shempa won't be getting that peaceful solution after all."

Spike followed Johny-Boy, continuing to look around. He didn't want to lose track of the foreman now that he had found him. Johny-Boy was rambling on about his mother or grandfather or some nonsense again, escorting Spike away from the work area and the foreman, when Spike initiated plan B. "Say, Johny-Boy, you did a good job getting everyone to take a break while I spoke with your boss." Spike said, reaching into one of the the shorts pockets where he kept stinkberries. He pulled out a handful and offered them to Johny-Boy. "These are some of my favorite berries, I think you might like them. " Spike popped a stinkberry in his mouth, careful to keep his mouth shut until he swallowed. "As long as fresh air doesn't mix with the berry juice, no problem. Hopefully he chews his food with his mouth open, he certainly looks like he would." Spike smiled to himself as Johny-Boy looked at the berries in his hand.

"What? Aye, Uhu!! Your a kind one aren't you? Yup, Aye!! Offering berries to someone you just met. That's quite dangerous you know, Yup, Uhu!! Momma always told me, she told me, Johny-Boy, she said, she said, don't give food to strangers!! Or was it take from? Aye, I don't know anymore, Yup, Uhu"

The man laughed his usual stupid laughter as he took the berries gratefully. There was truly no end to his stupidity but... That was part of his charm or something? Whatever it was, it worked for him. The man kept laughing his bouldering laughter as he took out a handkerchief. He suddenly knelt down placing the berries on it before he took out another handkerchief and tucked it into his collar.

"Please, sit down my friend, yup, Aye, Uhu. My momma always told me to mind my manners when eating, Uhu, She did, She said, Johny-Boy, she said. You watch your manners!!"

He pulled on the suspenders of his trousers to create some room between himself and the fabric as he peered down. His eyes squinted and shifted a few times until they located what they had been searching for. His hand dug into his trousers moments later before he took out two plates, two forks and two knifes. Why or how he kept them there was beyond anyone.

"There we go. Eat with me!! Uncle Ketchup always told me, he told me, Johny-Boy, that's me, Yup, Aye, Uhu. He told me, Johny-Boy you make friends now!! It's important to have friends, Yup, Aye"

He divided the berries in two batches making sure Spike got more of them. Spike was the guest after all. The man himself used his fork to raise one of the berries before putting it into his mouth and politely chewing. Not at all in the method Spike had expected him to eat.

Spike watched Johny-Boy setting up his plates and silverware, taken aback by the dinnertime manners the simple man displayed. "Oh well, I guess I have time for a quick snack, it doesn't seem like the other loggers have started working again just yet." Spike thought to himself as he sat across from Johny-Boy, dreading what would come after snack time was over.

"Well Johny-Boy," Spike was careful to swallow the stinkberry in his mouth completely before starting to talk. "It seems to me that you're doing just fine making friends." Spike ate another berry and once again swallowed carefully before speaking again. "You're doing so well that it's actually a bit of a problem." Spike ate another berry as a confused look came over Johny-Boy's face. Swallowing the berry, he thought of this strange, strong, simple man and how they might have even been friendly under other circumstances.

"You see, Johny-Boy, I've actually come to kind of like you. So I'm going to be straight with you. I've lied to you since the moment we first spoke. I'm not with the world government, I'm here as a representative of the tribes of this island." Spike said, bracing himself to jump out of the way, should Johny-Boy decide he didn't like what Spike was saying. "What you people are doing here is killing not only the forest and the wildlife, but you're destroying an entire culture. If you keep cutting down the trees on the path you're headed, you'll destroy a place that is sacred to the people who live on this island. I came here hoping I could trick you all into packing up and moving on, but your foreman dismissed me without thinking twice. So now I need to give him a beating."

Spike rose to his feet and unlooped his whip from it's usual spot around his waist. "And that's why it's a problem how well you're making friends Johny-Boy. You have a simple charm, and I think we would've gotten along well. But I'm going to give your boss a beating, and I have a feeling you aren't just going to turn your back while I do that. Now, are you going to force me to beat you as well?"

Johny-Boy was not the brightest man on the world and he knew that. He was a simpleton and he was perfectly fine with being one. He didn't pick up on things like other people did and usually just did as he was told. He was raised to be a good boy by his mother but unfortunately even a good boy like him needed to pay the bills. Especially when you took care of your precious mother as well.

Putting that aside though, Johny-Boy was a good judge of character and he knew full well what kind of man the foreman was. He also knew what kind of man Spike was just from talking to him and he knew that out of the two of them it would be the right choice to support Spike despite his job. It was why Johny-Boy smiled after swallowing one of the berries.

"I figured as much. Yup, Aye, Uhu. You're to friendly to be on of them people that check things. They never take their time to talk to me"

People generally didn't bother much with him simply because... Well he wasn't sure why. The second in command glanced over his shoulder before turning back to look at Spike. He would not get in his way. He had been paid to cut wood, not protect the foreman. His job was not that of a bodyguards.

"I'm not going to do anything, Yup, Aye, Uhu. She always told me, Momma did, always told me to do what you are paid to do and nothing else when it concerns bad men. Don't let them take advantage of you she told me, Yup, Aye, Uhu"

Spike breathed a sigh of relief when Johny-Boy told him he wasn't going to stop him from going after the foreman. "I guess I had the wrong idea about you Johny-Boy, I'm glad you're a nice guy. I'm gonna go find that foreman of yours now, and show him why it would've been better if he had shut things down when I asked him to. Enjoy the rest of the berries, if you'd like, but at this point I guess I'll warn you about them. They're called stinkberries, and if the juices inside are exposed to fresh air, they make a terrible smell. Safe to eat though, so enjoy!"

Spike took a good look around the area, trying to spot the foreman. There were various logging implements scattered about, and small groups of loggers, clustered together in threes and fours, having a snack, or a smoke, or just making conversation. "They must be waiting for someone to give the order to get back to work." Spike thought to himself, as he searched for that black-suited man.

Then he saw him. Only briefly, but Spike had already burned that black suit into his memory. If this was the man in charge of destroying this forest, then Spike was going to put himself in charge of kicking this guys' ass. The foreman stepped into a trailer and disappeared from view, but that was alright. Spike knew where he was now, and he was done trying to do this the peaceful way.

Whip in hand, Spike ran to the trailer. "I'm done playing around, now get out here so I can kick your ass!" Spike stood, ready for a fight, as the door to the trailer opened.

The Foreman had retreated back to his trailer simply because he felt there was no need to stay outside any longer. Nature had a way of messing up his precious clothes and he genuinely did not enjoy it. Of course unknown to him it was at this very moment that Johny-Boy revealed that he had no intention to fight Spike. He was A.) Not a bodyguard and B.) Really liked Spike. Sighing the Foreman sat down in one of the comfortable chairs inside his trailer.

"Damned environmental pests. Those guys always have to get in the way...."

The man rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance before he turned his attention to the music playing softly in his trailer. His eyes shutting when he took it all in. Unfortunately it didn't really last long. The moment he had decided to take it all in he heard a loud voice coming from outside. The voice belonged to none other then the guy he had figured would have disappeared by now.

Unbelievable....

Sighing in frustration the man rose to his feet and put a cigar between his lips once more before he made his way to the door of the trailer. His fingers curled around the lever moments later before he opened it and stepped outside. His eyes dully fixed on the man standing in front of him.

"I see you still have not disappeared, what on earth is Johny-Boy doing?"

"Johny-Boy? We talked things over, and it seems that he's only paid to cut wood out here. I guess it's a shame for you that I'm not made of wood." Spike explained to the foreman. "I've wasted enough time playing games with you. I tried to get you people to leave without a fight, just like Shempa wanted, but you've forced my hand. I will not stand by and let you devastate this ecosystem and the natural wonders of this island any longer. It's time you were taught a lesson."

The foreman stood in the threshold to the trailer, three short steps from the ground. His black suit pristine and crisp, a stark contrast to the dirt-stained clothing that Spike wore. Spike could feel no pity for the man and the beating he was about to receive, he had brought it upon himself. Even now, the foreman seemed to be mocking Spike, puffing on his cigar and regarding Spike as if he were nothing more than a nuisance, a fly to be swatted. Spike had met men like him before, parasites who cared nothing for the natural world around them, who couldn't recognize the beauty of the world that lay open to all in this great age. It was infuriating, to know that such ignorance existed, but at least today he could do something about it. Or at least try.

"First things first, I need to get him out of that trailer. My whip can't exactly slice through that thing, and who knows if he has backup somewhere he can call if I let him lock himself in there..." Spike thought to himself, analyzing his situation to the best of his abilities.

"Alright Mr. Foreman, I think it's time you stepped out of that trailer." Spike taunted, switching his whip to his left hand as he reached into one of the many pockets on his shorts and grasped a couple of Stinkberries. "I don't think you're going to like it in there for very much longer." With that said, Spike pitched the Stinkberries in his hand at the gap in the threshold over the foreman's left shoulder, sliding his whip back into his right hand immediately after. "Now, get out here and show me what you're made of!"

The Foreman groaned lightly when he heard Spike speak up about Johny-Boy. Okay so it was true he was only being paid to cut wood but he clearly didn't understand that there wouldn't be any kind of payment if their operations were halted here. The Foreman would have a good talk with Johny-Boy once he had dealt with the nuisance that was Spike. The man's hand disappeared underneath his suit while he stepped down one single step. His sharp eyes fixing on Spike with complete focus.

"You'd be best off not picking a fight with me kid. I have dealt with more nuisances like you then you can imagine. Although I don't like it, I'm not afraid to get my hands dir-"

He was interrupted by Spike flicking some berries over his shoulder. The man turned to look behind him when he saw the berries hit one of the closet doors inside his trailer and fall to the ground. Upon contact with the hard surface the berries burst open almost instantly letting out the foul odour that made the Foreman stumble down the last two steps.

Holy shit that stinks!! What kind of berries did he use? I'll never get that out of my suits!!

The man grit his teeth before he turned around, his hand pulling out of his suit to reveal 4 knifes between his fingers. Very well, if Spike wanted a fight he'd get a fight. The man flipped one of the knifes up catching it with his teeth while he placed the other two knifes between his index finger, middle finger and ring finger on his other hand. With a push of his heel he shot forward closing the gap between him and Spike in the blink of an eye. His right hand came speeding towards Spike's stomach intending to lodge the knifes deep into it.

"Whoa, this guy's fast." Spike barely had time to register the thought before instinct took over. Pushing off the front of his left foot, Spike kicked himself into a sort of rolling dive, moving backwards and to the right of where he had just been standing, landing in a crouched position. "I'm going to have to be careful around this guy. If I had been a second longer right there, I would've stained my hoodie." Spike noted as he looked down the front of his sweatshirt. Two tiny vertical slits had appeared about an inch above his bellybutton.

"That was pretty impressive, you've definitely got some speed. I'll give you that." Spike said, hands on his knees as he pushed himself up. "And those are some nice claws you've got there too. But I was a lion tamer in a past life, and I'll tell you one thing, you're no lion." Spike flicked his wrist at the foreman, and the top button of the man's suit coat went flying.

"That was for putting holes in my favorite sweatshirt." Spike said, as he cracked the whip forward again, this time aiming to tangle up the foreman's left ankle. "And didn't your mom ever tell you not to run with knives? You might trip." The whip wrapped around and Spike gave a hard pull.

The speed of Spike's reaction was faster then the Foreman had expected but it was nothing to fret about. Although the attack missed he knew there would still be plenty of chances to strike at him. After missing he firmly planted his foot in the soil to solidify his stance. He had to be on his guard, this guy was fast enough to dodge his attack like that so he was most likely going to be more of a challenge then he had originally thought he would be.

"I don't care what you were in your past life. Look forward to what you will be in your next life. It'll come to you sooner then you thought"

Nobody got in the way of his work and lived to tell about it. He'd just make some arrangements with the World Government and make this entire ordeal disappear. Nobody would find out what happened to this guy. When Spike cracked his whip for the first time one of the top buttons flew of the Foreman's coat. He peered down slightly staring at the spot where the button had previously been before turning his gaze back to meet Spikes.

"Big.... Big mistake boy...."

When Spike once again cracked his whip to wrap it around the Foreman's leg the man was already moving. He swept his left arm up sending the knifes speeding towards Spike while he pushed of with his heel jumping along with the pull of Spikes whip. It was best to move along with your constriction in this case. His right foot hit the ground while he dropped the knife from between his teeth and caught it with his now emptied hand only to ready it for throwing, the moment Spike would dodge he'd hurl it forwards.

The foreman was far more experienced than he looked, that was becoming more apparent to Spike the longer this battle continued. Sure, he had been in scuffles here and there in his past, but usually with local bullies whose only method of attack in a fight was "make a fist, swing fist, repeat". This guy was an entirely new experience for Spike. Of all the fights he had ever been in, his opponent would attempt to run or back off if he tangled up a limb, but this foreman here was actually trying to close the gap between them. And then there was the matter of the knife flying at Spike. That was closing the gap much quicker than the foreman was.

Spike had to focus on the immediate threat, the dagger that was rushing up to bury itself in his stomach. He kicked to the side with his right foot, jumping out of the way just in time, the blade of the knife missing by less than inches as it flew past and beyond Spike. Unfortunately, the more experienced fighter had anticipated this move. The second knife was in the air and coming at Spike before he even landed.

"No time..." Spike couldn't even finish the thought. He saw the knife coming straight for his belly and did the only thing he could think of. He dropped to the ground. Gravity almost brought him out of harm's way. Almost. A sharp pain erupted just inside of Spike's left shoulder as the knife bit in, a red flower blooming around the glistening metal.

Spike had been hurt before, but not like this. The pain around his shoulder was so intense that for a moment he almost forgot what was going on. "That... Hurt..." Spike said, staring up from his position on the ground to meet the foreman's eyes. He planted his right foot on the ground, bringing himself up to one knee. "And now you've..." Spike paused to take a breath and spit, trying not to notice the bit of red mixed in there. "You've put another hole in my favorite hoodie."

Wincing, he reached up with his left hand and grasped the handle of the knife. With a loud groan, he pulled the knife out. "Damn, that was stupid, but I'd never be able to dodge this guy with a knife in my shoulder." Spike pulled his whip back to him as he stood back up, tossing the knife into a nearby bush. "I'm starting to think you don't like me or something." Spike said, a strange smile sprouting on his face. "That's alright though, I don't think I'm much a fan of you either. Now let's finish this, I seem to have a shoulder wound that I should probably get looked at."

Much thanks and appreciation to those who helped create and flourish the original One Piece Role Playing Game, located here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/One_Piece_RP/index/. It is a fantastic game which, obviously, we have based ours on in the most unobtrusive way possible, with any and all connections and correlations between our sites being nothing more than paid homage and the acceptance of excellent, well-considered ideas. While we here at NA have put a lot of effort into writing up the information for this game, a fair portion of it was borrowed and adapted from the aforementioned game, and so we here can't thank them enough for their hard work, and hope that anyone who ventures into this game checks their's out as well, assuming they have not already. They're a good bunch over there and deserve all the respect in the world for their ventures and creativity.
