Chap1: Impatience on Obvion

Frostbitten

The sea was rough today. Waves ten to fifteen thrashed about a ship with red and gold trim Marine ship. There were no storms in the area. Though the sky was covered with dreary gray clouds that hung low. As the ship skipped along the waves, in the distance there was a glimpse of an island. This was the destination for this Marine Ship. The island was known as Obvion Island.

***

Obvion was a well known island in the South Blue, but not for piracy. No, it was a Marine base. It served as a way station for Marine ships, and a shelter from rough seas for other ships. The Island itself sat very close to the Grand Line and it's strategic importance was clear to all those in South Blue. It was a gem for the Marines, and a blight for Pirates.

Even though the base on Obvion functions like other bases in South Blue, it's primary purpose was that of training the next generation of Marines. Non-commissioned and commissioned Marines would train here. Learning how to work ships, be a team, be a leader, and most of all learn how to be a Marine. This was the primary intent of the base. Given it's proximity to the Grand Line, Obvion could train their recruits harder than others as well.

Obvion churned out Marines like it was a factory. Marine Ships would come to pick up fresh recruits for their assignments given their performance at the base. Many Marines got their first assignments within two weeks, and were shipped out. There are however those that do graduate, but for whatever reason don't get an assignment. These Marines aren't frowned upon, but do stay on the base and serve to protect the base until the day they get their assignments.

Currently, there were two Ensigns who fit the latter. Waiting for their assignments patiently... Well, one of them is patiently waiting. Little do they know that that fate would arrive shortly. Speaking of that impatient one...

A luxury like sleep was quite the hard thing to catch here on Obvion. It was something you only did at the times your superior officers told you. You also didn't get to chose how long you slept, as the same officers decided that as well. For someone like Cole Gransin, that was a little bothersome. If Cole wanted to take a nap he learned very quickly that he had to be creative in how he went about it. Such creative meant that the Marine Ensign had to get use to the keeping one eye open to see if a ranking officer was nearby. "oooiiii! Cole!" On this particular day Cole found the perfect napping location down at the docks. Any crate that had been shipped to the island and not opened or delivered to its inevitable location was stacked ontop one another in the dock yard. While most people were smart enough to not try and climb the stacks, Cole wasn't one of them. "hhheeeeyyy!!! Ensign Cole!" At the top of a large crate on top of a large pillar of other crates, the Ensign laid sleeping. Being an Ensign meant that Cole was given the permission to wear his own attire of clothing. In return that meant that he would have to wear the standard Marine coat, but Mr. Gransin didn't even do that. Gahhh! Alright fine! Ensign Cole Sir!" Instead Cole stuck out amongst many of the lower recruits, walking around in a black cloak that stopped right above his ankles. This cloak did more than help Cole feel unique among most of the other Marines, it worked as an excellent blanket whenever he felt like getting a nap in. Sleeping peacefully Cole had a large snot bubble growing and shrinking out of his nose as he snored loudly.

"OOOOIIIIII! COOOOOOLLLLLEEEEEEE!"

The sudden shouting awoke the Ensign from his peacefully slumber. Leaping up into the air out of shock Cole fell back on his back before almost falling off the pillar as well. A groggy appearance on his face Cole dragged his head over the edge of the crate to see who had woken him up. At the base of the stack were three other Marines, the highest rank amongst them being a petty officer with red hair. "Ohh...its you three *yawns* what do you guys want?" The three men were shocked before anger came over their face as the petty officer shouted again. "We finished cleaning up Warehouse One like you told us to! We're going back to our duties!" The three Marines stood there waiting to see what Cole would say, only to become surprised when they heard him laugh. "Jihihi! You three still have to clean up Warehouse Two as well! Those were my orders today!" Even from atop the stack of crates Cole could hear the men growl and grit their teeth in anger. "Oh yeah!", the Petty Officer shouted with a hint of arrogance in his voice. "Well maybe I'll go tell one of the ranking officers that your making us do your job while you sleep!" The three men looked at each other with a confident smirk on their faces, knowing they had Cole where they wanted him. The Ensign only let out a flustered sigh as he rolled over the edge of the crate and fell to the ground. The three Marines were scared that Cole was going to hit the ground and die from that height, but were startled to see the man land on his feet like nothing had happened. After he let his cloak settle from the air Cole got up to his full height and stared at the Marines with a smile. "I suppose you could do that Glen, I mean its the right thing to do." Grabbing the brush from Glen's hand Cole turned around and began to walk towards Warehouse Two while whistling. "Though I suppose if I'm questioned about why I made you three do my work I'll have to tell them that I was punishing you all for trying to sneak alcohol onto into the Cadet dorms even though its against the rules." The three Marines panicked after hearing what Cole just said. Before the Ensign could step any further a cloud of dust zoomed right by him, taking the broom along with it. Looking at the cloud Cole could see that the Marines were running as fast as they could to the second Warehouse. "NO NEED TO WORRY SIR! WE GOT THIS COVERED! NO NEED TO REPORT ANYTHING, ENJOY YOUR NAP!!"

Cole could only chuckle at what just happened. He knew it was mean to make those three do his work, but Cole was very tired today. Instead of sleeping like he was suppose to last night, Cole snuck out to exercise. Before the sun had risen the Ensign had done one hundred laps around the island, first on foot then by swimming. After that he spent the rest of the night lifting weights, and by weights he meant heavy rocks. Cole had to become the best Marine he could be and there was no way that was going to happen with the restrictions placed upon him here at the base of Obvion. Of course, sneaking out meant that he was probably in trouble with his roommate Benjamin again. That was half the reason the Ensign decided to take an assignment at the warehouses today, to sneak to the docks and not get caught by Ben or any of his ranking officers. Figuring he would go over to Warehouse One and look busy in case someone came Cole turned around and whistled while he walked to the destination. While walking the Ensign couldn't help bu set his sights on something he thought was strange. Hiding behind a crate Cole saw a group of strange looking man taking unmarked boxes off a ship that wasn't registered with the Marines. "What the hell is going on?" Cole thought as he peeked from the side of the box to see what was going on. Squinting to get the sun out of his eyes Cole couldn't help but feel like this wasn't suppose to be happening. "Something isn't right here, those guys aren't Marines. What would they be doing unloading boxes at a Marine base?!" His mind racing to come up with a solution Cole eventually figured something bad was going to happen. Something that would be terrible if Cole didn't act fast and put an end to it.

Clockwork

A bloody lead ball plinked against the aluminum of the tray as it was released from the mouth and tongue that had been used to extract it. The patient sat up slowly and made a soft "Itetete...". Cadet Rogers, a young and headstrong cadet with the ambition of being a marksman had been playing with a live pistol without the supervision of an officer. Unfortunately for him, it didn't quite work out the way he'd imagined it and the hammer had released while he was playing around with the weapon and shot himself in his right thigh and had to be taken to the infirmary.

"Cadet, I would ask you to please exercise caution, this wound isn't going to need stitches, but it is going to be bound and any unnecessary stress might cause it to reopen. I don't intend to see you in the infirmary again so soon hm?" Benjamin's ring and index finger came up to push his glasses further up the bridge of his nose before his other hand cut the now tightly wound bandages with a pair of medical shears.

His cold eyes looked down at the would be marine with absolute disinterest. He'd opted to avoid applying any sort of anesthetic despite the fact that it was a specialty of his. Anesthetic would make the experience too relaxing, the cadet would soon forget about what happened today if not for the excruciating pain of the wound being forcefully opened and the heavy little ball extracted just above the bone.

Especially since his cohorts had covered for him, saying that it was an accident and that he'd never even taken the gun. The gunpowder on his right hand and the balls entry trajectory stated otherwise, but that was for his superiors to detect. It was likely they would accept the cover story with little inspection, this island was very busy afterall, a revolving door of recruits. The majority of them coming and going within a small period of two weeks. A grace he and his roommate Cole had not been so lucky to be granted.

"Y-yes sir!" He saluted and then hobbled to a sitting position with some effort. Benjamin reached out and passed the man a single wooden crutch before pulling off his surgical gloves with a pleasant *Snap*.

"You're dismissed Cadet. See the nurse for your post surgery debriefing." He shooed him off as he spoke as if he was a troublesome insect... And in this instance he truly was. He was everything Benjamin tried not to be. A slacker and a miscreant. A man who refused to work for his ambitions, a man who'd rather play with weapons and pretend he was some sort of hero. A buffoon. He could say some of the same things about his roommate. While he was a hard worker, he had no respect for rules, often sneaking out or getting into trouble that Ben had to pull him out of.

Once again, Benjamin readjusted his glasses trying to absolve himself of the troubling habits of his roommate. Soft footfalls led the young aspiring medical practitioner from the infirmary. A slow wave offered to the nurse while she was still in the midst of debriefing the would be John Wayne.

He'd used the last of his bandages wrapping that idiots wound, which meant that he'd have to step out and fetch some more from Warehouse One. Contrary to Cole's plans, the path from the Infirmary to Warehouse One passed right by the docks, so close, and so perfect was the timing, that Benjamin had the luck to be irritated by his roommates incessant whistling.

He couldn't help but set his sights on something he -knew- was strange. His roommate was hiding behind a box and peeking on some workers. "What the hell is going on?" He thought as he stared at Cole. He frowned as he began to try and figure out some sort of logical solution to what could possibly be going on here. Ben figured something bad was about to happen. Something terrible if he didn't act fast and stop Cole.

Cole continued to observe the actions of these strange men on the docks. Between their uniforms, the boxes they were unloading, and the ship itself nothing bared the insignia of the Marines. "What are they doing with those boxes?" The Ensign whispered to himself as he watched this unknown crew laugh while continuing their work. It was driving Cole crazy to not know what was going on with these strangers at the moment. A million questions were going through his mind as he watched them unload more boxes. Were these guys Marines? What if they were pirates? What is in those boxes? Could they be bombs? Are there even more pirates hiding inside the boxes?! Instead of finding one of the dock masters, asking a simple question, and getting to the bottom of all this like a logical person would, Cole assumed the worse. Worrying that he was letting a fiendish plot created by some sadistic pirates go unchecked on Obvion, the Ensign felt like he had to do something. As he continued to observe the ship's crew unload boxes Cole began to formulate a plan. While he was mainly doing this to protect the Marines on base, a part of Cole was doing this out of sheer excitement. His time spent on Obvion had been so dull and boring that it was driving him insane. It was understandable at first to not have any exciting missions when he was a cadet here. However that was some time ago, and despite all those times and promotions Cole seemed stuck on the island. Now here he stood, a young Ensign who had just stumbled upon a group of pirates who were daring enough to cause chaos on a Marine base. He would make quick work out of these fools, bring them in to the processing station, and finally give the higher ups the reason they needed to let Cole out into the world. The Ensign had to hold back a chuckle to remain quiet as he thought about all of this. Just before he was getting ready to confront these criminals Cole made sure to check that the close was clear. Looking around the dock it seemed like no one else was around, meaning no innocent person would be in harms way.

Turning around to see what was behind him Cole was a little startled to have made eye contact with Benjamin. Much like Cole's cloak, Ben's rose made him pretty easy to spot in a crowd of Marines. Cole sweatdropped at the sight of his roommate who he figured was there to scold him. Instead, Cole figured he would let Benjamin in on the glory that was about to be handed out once they busted these pirates. Without saying a word Cole placed his right index finger over his lips to tell Ben to stay silent. Then pulling his hand away from his face he pointed to his fellow Ensign with his index and middle finger before poiting past his left shoulder. It was the silent way for Cole to tell Benjamin he wanted him to flank the criminals from the left side. Next, Cole pointed at himself while still staring at Ben with a determined look. He then proceeded to lift his hand above his head and point to the people unloading their ship with his thumb. After giving Ben a nod and a smirk Cole spun around, cracked his knuckles, and leaped up to the top of the box he was hiding behind. "STOP RIGHT THERE!", Cole shouted as he stood on top of the box with his arms folded beneath his cloak. The men stopped in their tracks as they saw the stranger standing on a box for some reason. "Who are you?", one of the men holding a box asked. "I am Ensign Cole Gransin, and you people are trespassing on Marine property!" The men looked at each other before another one spoke up for the crew. "We're not trespassing you idiot! We're here on Marine related business!" Cole simply shook his head as he examined the ship's crew. For a bunch of pirates they didn't seem all that tough. Letting out a faint chuckle Cole set his sight on the man that just spoke up before speaking up. "Is that so? Well then you wouldn't mind showing me you're paper work or telling me what it is you're shipping." The crew looked at each other with nervous eyes, not sure how to respond until the man spoke up a second time. "Tha...Thats a secret I'm afraid!" The Ensign fell backwards from the shock of hearing their answer, were these guys serious?! Quickly jumping to his feet Cole acted like he didn't fall over as he chuckled a second time. "Well then, I guess I have no choice but stop what you are doing here, and take you all in!" Leaping off the box Cole came landing towards the man that was speaking and threw a punch with his left fist. As the blow connected with the man's face the rest of the crew stopped what they were doing and attempted to gang up on Cole. After dodging a punch and kicking another man down a huge smile was across Cole's face. These guys weren't tough at all, and they would be taken down with ease the moment Benjamin leaped out from the side to aid Cole in arresting these criminals!

Benjamin continued to watch his roommate, concern evident as it overwrote his standard cold analytical expression. It was true, something wasn't right here. There was a crew unloading unlabeled boxes without being watched over by the dockmasters... He couldn't say whether they were up to no good or not... There had to be a reason for this.

And then Cole spotted him. Chance! Benjamin immediately put his hand out in a "Stop!" Gesture... Which perhaps Cole mistook as a High Five, because he kept going with his silent instructions. He wanted him to flank the would be trespassers.

Benjamin sighed and slumped his shoulders in defeat. He had known Cole a long time now. In that time he'd learned that the man was like a force of nature. Often it was a better idea to strap yourself in and brace for impact than to argue with it. Tropical Storms didn't have ears after all, and neither did Hurricane Cole.

Resigned to his roommates instructions Benjamin came around the left, observing the sudden interaction between Cole and the workers. While Benjamin silently crept around the side, Cole had hopped clear out into the open... He certainly possessed a daring that was beyond his own, there was something to be admired in that somewhere.

And then the conversation began. They were here on Marine related business? A brief glance over each of the workers lead him to a short profile of their profession. Most of them had thick bodies, but they were unrefined, the bodies of laborers. Few of them had scars, marks, or any deformities of battle at all. Furthermore... None of them were armed.

Ben suddenly jumped out of his position towards the crowd, his fists flying as he knocked one man clear into next week! Ben's hand extended in that same stop gesture as he called out. "Cole! No!"

But it was too late, the brawl had already started and in response Ben could only frown. At least that's all he could do the moment before a large hairy fist collided with his jaw, sending him staggering in the opposite direction and knocking his glasses crooked. "Ha! You marines got big mouths but weak jaws!" Taunted the large sailor.

Benjamin recentered himself, clearing his vision which was a little blurry from the clean undefended hit to his chin. He turned his head directly towards the oaf who'd struck him. He was a big man, easily twice his size and weight with a thick black matted beard. He was too busy laughing at the small medical practitioner to acknowledge the icy glare he was receiving.

A pair of fingers pushed the frame of his glasses further up his nose as he prepared to try and settle this dispute like any refined marine would.

With an ass kicking.

"What happened to your knee?" Cole asked as he approached the man.

"Huh? Whaddya mean?" Replied the sailor as he looked down in curiousity. At that moment Benjamin's left hand lashed out with a surprising quickness! The blow struck the man just above one of his knees and buckled it backwards with a sickening crunch!

The man teetered over screaming and grasping his dislocated leg as Benjamin dove into the crowd that was once Cole's alone, taking punches and kicks while throwing out thrusts with his palm or his index and ring finger.

It was a damn good thing he was headed to Warehouse One to pick up more bandages... It looked like they'd need them.

As Cole punched another one these criminals down he couldn't help but notice something about them. For a group of pirates that were trying to destroy a Marine base, they were pretty weak. Hell their ship didn't even have a Jolly Roger on any of the sails. For a group of weak pirates to sail this far towards the Grand Line in an attempt to destroy a Marine base, he couldn't help but respect them. The Ensign had to admit one thing though, these guys had some balls. As another one of the sailors came at Cole to throw a punch he couldn't help but laugh as he grabbed the man's arm and flipped him over his shoulder. This is what he had been missing being stationed here on Obvion, excitement! Even if it was fighting against a bunch of weak pirates, it was better than sweeping up a whole warehouse. Turning around Cole could see that Benjamin had leaped into the fight by now as well. One of the sailors had set his sight on bifocal Ensign and slugged him as Ben was shouting at Cole. "Uh-Oh", was all Cole said as he saw Ben fall to the ground. He wasn't rushing to the aid of his fellow Marine, nor was he worried for his well being. Cole looked like a fighter, between the stubborn expression on his face and the tattered cloak that flowed around him his whole persona screamed "brawler". Benjamin on the other hand looked like your typical book worm, the kind of person that would run from a fight. Cole couldn't help but get a kick out of seeing the absolute shock on the poor sucker's face when they realized too late that Ben knew how to stand his ground. In all honesty Cole felt that Benjamin's appearance was his greatest weapon, even greater than his special ability. The Ensign could only cringe a little as he watched Benjamin dislocate the sailor's leg. "Well...", Cole said while rubbing the back of his head, "I guess thats one pirate down I suppose."

Once Ben leaped into the fight Cole couldn't help but smirk at his fellow Ensign in the midst of the fight. While Benjamin was throwing thrusts and jabs at the sailors who were still fighting. "Took you long enough", Cole said while smirking at Benjamin in the middle of their fight. While he went and goaded Ben one of the Sailors attempted to strike at Cole from behind with a crowbar. The Ensign quickly spun around as his left hand reemerged from his cloak to block the on coming attack with a loud clang. The sailor was surprised to see a Wakizashi held in Cole's hand, stopping the crowbar in its tracks. Knocking the crowbar back into the air Cole spun around and extended his leg to trip the sailor to the ground. After a few moments the sailors were down on the ground, beaten by the two Ensigns who made it look all too easy. "Well how about that?" Cole said with an enthusiastic tone as knelled down in front of the beaten "criminals". "I knew these guys were up to no good! Its a good thing when you showed up when you did Ben." Walking by one of the nearby crates Cole grabbed a bundle of rope that he soon used to restrain all the sailors from escaping. "This is the excitement I've been looking for! Once we process these guys and report to the higher ups that we stopped a pirate attack, theres no way the two of us won't get deployed to bigger things Ben!" The Ensign couldn't contain his excitement, even if he tried his best. "You idiot!", one of the sailors shouted as the group was forced up to their feet, "I told you we're not pirates!" Turning around to face the man that spoke up before smirking and shaking his head. "Yeah yeah, now that you are caught by the Marines you suddenly aren't pirates huh?" Chuckling at the fact that these criminals were getting desperate Cole waved Ben to follow him as he lead the criminals to the processing station. Once there Cole walked up to the Marine sitting at the desk with a huge grin on his face. "Hello sir! Ensigns Cole Gransin and Benjamin Thorne reporting in! We found these man unloading unmarked boxes off a ship that was not registered with the Marines. After refusing to tells us why they were here Ensign Thorne assisted me in subduing these suspects in order to bring them here!" Turning around to face the sailors Cole kept that huge smile on his face before facing the Marine again. "No need to thank us sir, we were just doing our duty!"

The ensuing battle was, in a word, Chaos. Two Ensigns against an entire crew of Pirates... Sort of. While Benjamin had all but asserted that they weren't quite what Cole believed they were, he was too overcome by rage, and quickly at that, to care anymore.

Cole seemed to be having a grand ol' time. Sweeping these men aside left and right like so much garbage! He even had enough time to taunt him. "Yes, my onset was a bit... Delayed. But it looked like you were having a bit of trouble." He offered the closest thing Cole had ever seen to a smile from him and then continued his fight.

Unlike Cole's brawling techniques, attacks thrown out of force with his bare fists or boots, Benjamin's attacks were more like a dance. A surgical destruction. A painful dance that involved dissecting the opponent from the inside out with piercing finger jabs, palm strikes, and chops. As men closed in on him, attacks would be thrown mid punch to their joints, arteries, or major nerve endings. Painful and disabling attacks, but for the most part, non-lethal. He was a doctor afterall.

One man had been clever enough to attack Cole with a weapon, perhaps their only chance at victory. Sadly, it was dashed by Cole's own quickdraw ability, and just like that the man was on his ass.

Another man had prepared to throw something at Cole behind his back, and in a similar show of dexterity Ben's left hand shot out disturbing the air in a path towards the attacker. A second later a senbon jutted out of the side of his neck. He had just enough time to tap it and acknowledge it was there before the anesthetic kicked in and he toppled over, the last of their foes.

He looked over the destruction they'd left in their wake and adjusted his glasses with a satisfied smirk... Which soon melted away as he realized what they'd done. "Um. Yes. Perhaps we should get these men to processing to have this all figured out." And to figure out just what their punishment would be for annihilating an entire crew of visitors. He didn't know their purpose, but he did know they couldn't be pirates... Hopefully there was a bomb involved or something.

As they arrived at Processing he allowed Cole to do the talking. Mostly because he was somehow aware that they were about to be facing a reproach... As had been the life he'd begun to live with Cole as his roommate.

As Ensign Cole turned to smile at the crowd, Ben bowed and put his hands together begging their forgiveness silently before likewise turning to face the marine in front of them.

The main attendant at Processing raised an eyebrow at what he saw. Two Engins partially scuffed up, they were dragging several individuals behind them. These weren't pirates... they weren't marines... they were sailors with the emblem of the Bliss Kingdom clearly on them. The attendant looked at the two further and said. "Got a nice haul there." The man walked over and bent over a man who was partially conscious. "What are you doing here?"

"Unloading..." The man struggled to say the word as he had lots of lumps on his head.

Blinking a bit, the attendant then asked another question. "What's your Shipment ID?" The man pulled out a notepad and prepared to write it down.

"BL1.... 56.... 23.... T3..." The man's words were getting harder to get out.

Walking behind his desk, the attendant pulled out a den den mushi. "No worries, Cole. I'm sure that's a fake Shipment ID." The man said in a sarcastic tone. This one was notorious for dragging in random people for no reason. This was no different, but he was going to follow protocols. Dialing a random number, the den den mushi.

mushi mushi mushi.

"Dockmaster's office. What is your request?" The voice on the other side said.

"I'm wondering about a Shipment ID of BL15623T3. We received some..." He looked at Cole's subdued captives. "information that this may not be a legit shipment."

"Hold on, let me check today's arrivals..." Flipping noises could be heard from the den den mushi. More flipping of pages. "Nope, I don't have any..." The attendant appeared to be surprised. For once Cole may have been... "Wait, did you mean BL156T3?"

"Sure."

"It appears to be legit. A shipment from Bliss Kingdom. Commander Jenkins' signature is right next to it. It appears they've unloading for the past..."

The attendant smiled. If this was right, Cole was in trouble... again. "That's all I needed. Thank you, sir." Hanging up the den den mushi, the attendant then called a rather important number. "Let's see if the Commander confirms this."

den den den den

"Commander Jenkins speaking. What do you need petty officer?"

"Sir, did you sign for a shipment coming from Bliss Kingdom earlier today?"

"Yes...." A pause for a moment. "How do you know about this petty officer? No one outside my office is supposed to know about that shipment."

Clearing his throat, the petty officer continued. "Sir, it appears that some of our people may have brought the sailors from that ship to Processing."

"................................." A long pause held over the room. "Please tell me that Ensign Gransin isn't the one who brought them in..."

A moment's hestitation occured and then the petty officer spoke again. "Ensign Thorne is also here."

Suddently a huge dark cloud hovered over the den den mushi. Thick black clouds that were flashing mini lightning bolts. "Have someone clean these men up... " Grinding teeth. "I'll apologize to the ship's captain personally." A moment passed. "Gransin and Thorne, don't think about walking that door yet. I'm angry at you two. I want you two back to your quarters immediately! No meals! No slow walking! Go there immediately until I summon you to my office!!!!!!!" The den den mushi vibrated from the sheer anger. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND!!!!"

Elsewhere, a new Marine Ship arrived at the docks. This ship was lined with red and gold trimming as if to give the ship more flair. It was quite the ship to see... and most Marines shook their heads. Nobles they thought. As ship fully docked, the plank was lowered and about five men with duffle bags disembarked. Their exit from the ship was more like a chaotic mess. Each man trying to get away from the ship as if it were haunted. As soon as they touched land, they kissed and hugged the docks. It was like they hadn't seen something like that in years.

Two figures stood at the top of the plank. One a man and the other a woman. The man wore brightly red and gold clothes underneath his marine cloak which showed the rank of Liet. His Marine hat was proper and straight. The woman who stood next to him also had a marine cloak, but bore no rank. Her dark blue business suit held her figure as well as lovely lady. Her glasses held to her like a leaf to a tree.

"That makes five less..." The woman said.

"I don't have need for men like them anyway." The Liet said in response.

The pair disembarked the ship as well. They were heading toward the base...

Cole simply stood there with an aura of confidence that shined so bright the room didn't need any light bulbs. He had finally caught a legitimate group of pirates and stopped them from destroying the base. The Ensign would be shocked if he wasn't promoted to Commander after this. Benjamin would probably get a promotion too, but only to something like Leiutenant since he only helped and didn't come up with the plan. It was okay though, Once Cole got his commendation and ship he would gladly offer his roommate the opportunity to leave this dull island along with him. As the attendant walked over to one of the criminals Cole had caught the confidence on Cole's face took a hit. "Shipment ID?", the Ensign asked with a raised eyebrow and confused voice. Hearing the captive speak a series of letters and numbers caused Cole's smile to slowly shrink as his eyes grew wide. He was oblivious to the attendant's sarcasim as he was too concerned about getting into trouble again. Once the voice of the Dockmaster came over the Mushi Cole's eyes were almost wider than his head. The Ensign grew only more and more worried while the attendant read of the shipment ID. Hearing the dockmaster say that there was no shipment by that ID Cole let out a huge sigh of relief. Cole had really lucked out by finding a real pirate crew this time. Now that the confusion was out of the way the Ensign could only imagine what sort of ship he would ask for once he was a Commander. Perhaps one of those huge battleships would be a bit much to ask for, but it never hurt to ask. It also didn't hurt to pay attention, as Cole's dreams were quickly crushed as the dockmaster corrected himself. Snapping back to reality Cole could see the attendant smiling back at him, knowing he was in trouble again. Turning around the Ensign saw that the sailors he caught had a combination of sinister glares and wicked grins as the saw Cole come to his realization.

The moment Commander Jenkins' voice came over the Mushi, real panic struck Cole. Both eyes went wide and blank, his jaw dangled in place before locking up on him, and Cole's whole body went pure white and stone like. Cole simply stood there like a statue through the Commander's shouting. He was so sure that he found a group of pirates, how could have Cole been so wrong?! The worse part about beating up these innocent sailors and arresting them for no lawful reason? Was the fact that Cole wasn't going to get that promotion and get off this island. After the Commander verbally ripped the two Ensigns for their actions they were ordered to their quarters until further notice. Remaining absolutely silent the Cole statue suddenly turned around and moved for the doorway. His expression never changing the whole time as he left the building. Once he was outside the processing station the Ensign lurched forward until he felll face first into the ground. A sulking aura surrounded Cole as he got back up and dragged himself back to his quarters. Along the way Cole kept his head low and his mouth shut, still trying to process everything that just happened. The only time he ever lifted his head was to notice a new ship that had arrived at the dock. It was clearly a Marine ship, but its red and gold trimming made it stand out amongst the other ships. Once the vessel was out of his vision the Ensign's head quickly dropped back to the ground. Back in their quarters Cole simply sat at the end of his bed, the huge depressing aura weighing him down. As he tried to process everything that just happened Cole realized he still hadn't spoken up since his mistake was made public. "So uhh..." Cole said quietly towards Benjamin, "I guess they weren't pirates after all." Not an apology, not an admittance of guilt, all Cole did was state the obvious. There was enough time for Ben to shout at Cole, but before things could get any messier another petty officer came knocking at the door.

"The Commander would like to see you two now." The Ensign's eyes went wide again as he stood up and looked at Benjamin before walking out of their quarters. As they made their way towards the Commander's office Cole could only think about what was going to happen. He wasn't really on Commander Jenkins' good side with his previous attempts to bring in "criminals". There were landscapers who Cole thought a group of revoltionaries planning to steal the weapons from the supply depot. The tour group that Cole assumed was a group of spies working for one of the Yonkou. The most memroibale one being the incident in the mess hall when Cole called out the lunch lady's terrible cooking by saying she was trying to poison all the cadets. He spent a solid six months checking to make sure his food really wasn't poisoned after that one. While all these thoughts flooded the Ensign's mind he and Benjamin arrived in the waiting room of the Commander's office. Turning around to face his roommate Cole faced Ben with his eyes squinted while scratching the top of his head. "Now that I think about it, how did I make it to Ensign?" He didn't wait to hear what Ben had to say as Cole spun around and made his way for the door leading to the Commander's office. Before he could reach the knob the attendant sitting at the desk told Cole that he had to wait since the Commander was busy. Making his way to one of the seats Cole sat down and let the depressing aura weigh down on him again. This was the worst part about getting in trouble, the waiting.

Clockwork

Benjamin stood in processing as the marine interrogated the men they'd abused so freely. Unlike Cole, who at the moment seemed triumphant and proud to be there, Ben wore a frown so deep he'd likely get permanent wrinkles. He felt as if they were the one's who'd brought -him- in for processing.

The more the Marine talked, the more information he gathered, the closer Ben's fears came to reality... These men weren't pirates at all. Hell they weren't even mercenaries or soldiers. They were day laborers. Honest workers trying to make honest money through an honest job. Something Cole's active imagination had disrupted... His vigor was admirable but his ability to process information and consequences was absolutely abysmal.

Ben was in the middle of bowing and apologizing again to the men he'd pummeled (especially the one who he'd drugged with a throwing needle), when Commander Jenkins' voice roared through the Den Den Mushi. He immediately about faced and saluted the telecommunications snail.

As predicted they were fully and competently reamed by their Commander. Ontop of that, he had more in mind for the future and dismissed them to their quarters, a mercy Ben was more than happy to indulge him. He'd have time to commit to figure out a way out of this, for him and for Cole, like always. This was likely going to be the next step in the death of his Naval career.

When it was time to go, Benjamin turned and stepped out like a robot, his glasses askew on his face from the commanders sheer rage through the Den Den Mushi. He shut the door behind them and watched as Cole's balance failed him and he drove his face into the ground. Benjamin adjusted his glasses as he waited for his roommate to get up, the stare he returned to was nothing short of murderous.

Their trip from processing to the dormitories was a quick and somber one. Though as they passed through he couldn't help but admire a giant flashy battleship that'd pulled into dock. At the height of the ramp was a similarly flashy marine and a silent and proud woman. That ship was surely something he'd never be on, not with Ensign Cole Granson sabotaging everything from daily chores to going to the bathroom.

"No Cole, no they weren't. In fact, you were more of a pirate then they will ever be..." Was all he could muster in response to Cole's statement. And at that point it sounded more tired, futile, than angry. He simply didn't have the energy or willpower to become enraged with Cole anymore...Besides, it rarely got them anywhere. Everytime he had some grand scheme to save the marines from mundane visitors, Ben was there. Either drug along, or arriving to try and stop him, or even on the receiving end when he'd first arrived and been paired with him.

Luckily, the fight didn't have time to develop as the Commander summoned them. Proudly, or as proudly as a man guilty of the assault of twenty some odd shipmen could be, he rose and began his way towards the commander's office. It wasn't until they arrived that Cole spoke again. How was it he made Ensign? Simple... There could be only one way. He was a great demon sent from the depths of the sea to punish Benjamin and ensure that he never reached his dream. A divine punishment for an incredible crime in his past life... That was the only way it was possible.

With that thought in mind, Ben sank into a seat beside his roommate and assumed the same defeated position. The real punishment would be coming just as soon as the Commander was done with his current business... Whatever that may be.

Tick tock. Tick tock. The clock in the waiting room played this wonderful melody as the two Ensigns awaited their fates. The door to the Commander's office was closed. It was a forbidding sight indeed. That door was the only thing keeping them from feeling the full rage of Commander Jenkins. From the other side of the door, they could hear bits and pieces of a conversation going on.

"twenty or so..."

A chuckle could be heard. "Your reputation proceeds you...." An awkward silence followed as the voices on the other side became quieter. "... Klutz...." Only whispers to the two ensigns. "... I think these will do."

"... some impressive candidates..." The conversation was broken up once again. "... though I question these two..." Another long set of whispers.

"I assure you these..." The Commander's voice could be heard once again. "... will you consider them?"

Another awkward pause. "I will consider it."

The door opened. It was like a cave opening open with protruding teeth and smoke coming out. Flames bursting from it's mouth as if ready to consume the Ensigns. Or at least that would have been a better picture than what they were about to face. Commander Jenkins. But before they could enter, a beautiful woman in a dark blue business suit came out and held open the door. Her notepad at her side as she waited for the man in the brightly colored red & gold trim clothing to come out.

"Thank you for your time, Commander." He saluted the Commander and was about to walk out the door when the Commander spoke up.

"Liet, there is a Graduation Ceremony tonight. I invite you to it. We'll have delights from the Bliss Kingdom..." The Commander then saw the two Ensigns and sighed. "Will you come?"

Turning back and smiling, the man nodded as he said. "It would be a pleasure, sir. May I ask which shop made the delights?"

"The Blitz Bakery."

The Liet raised his head and smiled once again. "Good choice... Anyway, I'll leave you be as you've got other 'matters' to handle." He walked out the door and stood before the two Ensigns. One might think he was addressing them, but it was really that he was trying to get around the door. He saluted the Ensigns. He then walked toward the other door in the room. "Come Amelia."

"Yes, Master." The woman said in a cool demeanor and had an even cooler walk to her. No hesitation at all.

With the Liet gone, the Commander let out another sigh. "What are you waiting for, Ensigns?" This was his way of saying they needed to come in before he dragged them in.

The first time anyone saw the Commander they would be surprised by his stature. He stood four foot tall (with shoes). His white hair was short and prompt. A long mustache and wispy beard accented his face. Eyes blue as the sky. The man appeared to just be an old man commanding a base. Oh. They were corrected the moment they actually got to know him.

Allowing the Ensigns to enter and sit down, the Commander gave them his infamous stare. It was called the 'stare before the guillotine'. It was a stare that most students dreaded and the Commander had given it to Cole a fair amount of times since he first came here.

Practically seeing smoke come out of his ears, the Commander asked in his most restrained voice. "Please explain to me why you decided to assault about twenty sailors delivering delights for tonight's ceremony." He pulled out a box of Bliss delights and popped it open. The Commander was mad, but also wanted to see what excuses would come out of these two.

They say the worse part of a huge storm was the calm before it. That grace period where you knew something horrible was on the horizon, you've hunkered down, and wait for force of nature to run its course. Cole couldn't wait for the calm to pass and face the verbal storm that would be Commander Jenkins. Every now and then the Ensign would turn his eyes towards the door leading to the Commander's office. It didn't take Cole long to figure out why they were sitting in the waiting room, Jenkins was busy talking to someone else. Cole couldn't make out what they were talking about either, but from he could hear it was Jenkins and another man. They were talking about candidates, for what reason the Ensign had no idea. Curiosity was starting to get the better of Cole, who kept glancing over to Ben to see what he was doing. Whistling innocently the Ensign slowly attempted to get up from his seat and place his ear against the door to listen in on the conversation. Just as he was close enough to the door it suddenly opened right into the Ensign's head. The sudden whack knocked Cole back into his chair as he saw not a man, but a woman leaving the office. "That lady has one hell of a deep voice." Cole thought to himself as he looked at the woman in the suit with wide and confused eyes. Before Cole's confusion could go any further the next person to walk out was man with some strange clothing going on. The red and gold trimming seemed a little much, but the fact remained that this guy was a ranking officer.

The Lieutenant had made eye contact with the Ensigns and before Cole could say anything he saluted them. Realizing he had to respond to a ranking officer he never met Cole saluted. Lifting up his right arm up to salute the Lieutenant Cole forgot to remove it from his cloak, covering half his face with the black cloth in the process. After the Lieutenant finished speaking to the Jenkins the Commander set his sight on the two Ensigns. Here it was, the calm had passed and the storm had finally arrived. Turning around to face the Commander, the stone like fear had returned to the young Ensign's body. Dragging himself into the Commander's office Cole eventually forced his body into a seat as the Commander began to stare. The Guillotine stare, Cole had seen it enough time that it lost some of its impact. It was still very intimidating to Cole, that much was certain, but he wasn't struck with the same dread that he use to have. After a tense stare down by the Commander he finally asked for a reason why those sailors were attacked. It was important that Cole said exactly what needed to be said here to prevent him and Ben from getting into serious trouble. Looking over to his fellow Ensign, Cole gave Benjamin a nod with a smirk. It was the "Don't worry, I got this" nod that Cole had used all too often. In a matter of moments Cole will have smoothed out everything and the two of them would be back on the fast track to promotions. "Well sir", Cole spoke up with a very nervous tone in his voice, "I'm sure I can give you the best explanation."

Closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath Cole finally looked back at the commander with a confident look. "I was busy cleaning up Warehouse One down by the docks like I was told to do. Once I was done I took a moment to stretch my legs before I went on to tidy up Warehouse Two. While I was taking a moment to walk around I noticed that group of sailors were unloading strange boxes. When I asked them what they were doing they told me it was "Marine Business" but refused to show me any information that would lead me to believe that they were here to help the Marines." Turning around to look at Cole he gave the Ensign a blank expression, one that screamed volumes. Volumes that said, "here comes the best part"! "So since they were unwilling to let me know who they were I came to the conclusion that any skilled Marine would. Those sailors were clearly pirates! I wanted to bring them in peacefully, but everyone knows that Pirates don't go down without a fight. So I figured I had no choice but to beat them into submission." At no point did the Ensign feel the need to state he was wrong in thinking they were pirates. Instead Cole leaned back in his chair, a confident smirk on his face as he nodded to the Commander. Turning over to Ben the confidence vanished as worry came to Cole's face. "Oh right!", Cole said leaping to the edge of his seat, "Benjamin was there to help me too." There, now Ben would get a promotion as well. His side of the story now told Cole knew full well that this would be the one time he walked out of the Commander's office and not be in massive trouble.

Clockwork

Benjamin waited in his seat unmoving for the most part. He could hear a conversation being conducted in the office, not surprising given that the Commander had him waiting, There was discussion of candidate and consideration. It was safe to assume that neither of them were the subjects of their consideration, well, less they were considering candidates for an experimental form of execution...In that case, they were shoe ins.

As Cole escaped his seat to eavesdrop Ben reached out with his right hand to attempt to grip his wrist. His fingers surrounded their target but when his hand closed it was empty. Once again defeated by Cole's desire to bury himself and his roommate. He let his arm fall silently with a look of only moderate despair.

*Thwack!* The door swung open colliding with his roommates face... An act that he had to admit amused him slightly, the begginings of a small smile crept up onto his cold face as Cole was knocked into a proper seat. That smile was wiped away quickly as the cold businesswoman and her Lieutenant stepped out.

Benjamin immediately rose to his feet and saluted the two with the rigid discipline expected of a Marine Ensign. "Sir!" Cole at least attempted to do the same. It was cute like a puppy. He doubted any of the officers wanted to see more "Cute" from either one of them. He observed the two as they stepped out, the man and woman he'd seen on the rather flashy ship. The Lieutenant's servant in specific caught his eyes... Now -that- was a woman.

As they made their way out it was time for him and Cole to make their ways in. It was only moments after they'd entered that they'd received the Commander's trademark Stare. In a way it was comforting. Things were going the way they were supposed to. While the small man was certainly fear inducing, the fact that he wasn't treating them with an inappropriate emotion meant it wasn't likely that they were about to be treated to some unusual punishment.

The Commander demanded explanation, as he should have. Ben opened his mouth to begin to speak but was then struck with Cole's look of absolute confidence like a slap in the face.

Surprisingly, his explanation wasn't that bad. Granted it was full of flourishes and he seemed far from sorry for the actions he'd committed. Oh, and he included Benjamin as if he had been a part of the plan the entire time, as if it had been a conspiracy they'd devised.

The whole time Ben could only offer him a silent and apologetic frown. He knew what had happened was wrong... And as much as he detested Cole for his recklessness, the truth was, Ben had done the same thing. Drawn in by his roommate he fell to the chaos and lack of self control. He did more than strike a single sailor. There was an entire crew that he'd helped put down. There was no denying his guilt.

With that in mind, he relaxed. He assumed a rigid straight backed posture befitting a man of the navy. He'd face the Commander's judgement with spirit and pride, the way he should. While Cole was expecting a promotion, Benjamin expected the opposite, a demotion. And if that was the case, woe be it, he would work his way back up the very short ladder he'd only recenlty climbed and prove to the Navy that he was beyond children's games. He wouldn't let a simple setback destroy his dream of becoming a noble man of he navy.

Commander Jenkins ate his delights as Cole explained what happened. Now, the Commander knew Cole better than Cole expected. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Cole has been in that seat way too many times since first arriving. In fact, the Commander at one point thought of having a bed installed since this was particularly Cole's second home. Ben was here a fair amount of the time as well. The story was amusing, if not angering, to the Commander. This wasn't his most colorful explanation, but it hopefully be his last one. This was a pipe dream to the Commander, and he knew it.

"Ensign Thorne, your apology is acknowledged." The look on the Ensign's face spoke volumes without him actually having to say anything. It was the look of a child would give if they knew they did something wrong. If anything, he felt sorry for Ben. Always dragged into things by Cole. Cole was definitely a bad influence.

The Commander's eyes shifted to Cole. Clearing his throat, the Commander's eyes narrowed more sharply than before. "Ensign Gransin, I imagine you thought that was what you were doing. However, even in your 'view' of the situation, you acknowledge you didn't follow protocols.... such as requesting a ship manifest, asking the dockmaster, or asking for backup besides Thorne here. What if you were right? What if they were pirates that were trying to destroy this place. Don't you think that maybe they would call for their reinforcements? You get overwhelmed by their numbers, and our first line of defense is gone." The Commander was starting to let the anger fade away as he spoke. Cole was a special Ensign. One that would be a great Marine, if only he could survive his own boredom. Pointing to his head, the Commander continued. "The first line of defense is knowledge and reporting. If they weren't who they say they were, we'd find out through an investigation. We would have arrested them and we could enjoy your promotion for stopping an attack." He ate another delight and swallowed. This time around the Commander was hoping that his words would go deep enough for this one to understand. "Instead, you decided to assault twenty Bliss sailors and drag them to Processing. Now, would you like to know what you were protecting the base from?" He held up another delight for both of them to see. "Chocolat' Du Crem' Delight. A wonderful treat for all ages... or so the bakery says." He popped it into his mouth. "These were meant for the Graduation Ceremony tonight. A nice treat for the cadets and their hard work. Thankfully, you're little stunt earlier won't stop them from enjoying it tonight. That's good for both of you."

There was a long pregnant pause.

"You two are possibly my longest 'lifers' since I took charge here. I can't help but wonder why this is the case." Lifer being a term used by the base Marines for those cadets that stay longer than two weeks after Graduation. The Commander got out of his seat and walked over a cabinet. "I mean, you both are fully capable Marines and could be great." He was flipping through files. "And yet, ship after ship, no Marine Division picks you up. You've both been wondering this, and ask why." He stood up as he found the file he was looking for. It was a beign folder with a lot of papers. The Commander walked back over to the desk and placed the folder for both to see. It was an inch thick and stuffed to the brim. The words "Benjamin Thorne" written on it. Also the words "Only Liet or Higher may read this".

"Ensign Thorne, that's your dossier. It's filled with your incidents since you first arrived. Normally, these dossiers are only supposed to be this big." He held his fingers out with a small but noticeable gap. "Also, they are supposed to be filled with praises." The Commander then walked back to the cabinet and began to lift something out. "However..." The Commander pulled out what appeared to be a novel. It wasn't however. Slamming the object onto the desk, it was three times as high as the first dossier. This object looked like a big dossier, but you would be wrong. It was three forcibly combined into one. Marine's tape all over it and the words "Cole Gransin". "yours pales compared to Ensign Gransin, here." Even the Commander would be in awe of this behemoth if it weren't for the fact he dealt with it on a daily basis.

Sitting back down, the Commander placed his hands together. "As you can see Ensign, your dossier could be made into a novel... easily. Now every time I have Ranking Marines come in here, they ask for dossiers of cadets and lifers. They see your files and don't bother to read it. That is the reason you've been stuck here on Obvion." He took a sigh. So many Officers had cringed at the sight of these two dossiers, it was quite a sad thing. "Because of that you've been restless. Itching for adventure on the seas. Any young Marine worth his weight is the same way. However incidents like today do not help you get promotions. They just earn ire. Mostly from me."

He picked up a cup of tea and took a sip of it. Placing the teacup back down, he looked at the both of them frankly. "There is good news though. Tonight is the Graduation Ceremony for this terms' cadets. There are several high ranking Marines going to be in attendance. They are there to observe the cadets. Read over information..." His eyes went to the dossiers again and the old man sighed again. "about each of them. Now that doesn't mean they'll only look at the dossier, this is one of the few times you get to socialize with higher ups without them pulling rank. You can talk your way into an assignment...." The tone the old man was doing wasn't anger. In fact all anger had evaporated by this time. This tone was one of begging. He wanted them to do the right things and prove themselves in the eyes of these Marines. Most of all, he was tired of carrying these damn dossiers and having to see Cole in his office. "All you have to do is dress up, and attend the Ceremony. Then go to the feast, and socialize. That's all you have to do." He then looked toward Cole and said. "Please don't do anything stupid tonight." Focusing back on the both of them again, "For the sake of your Marine Careers, focus on your task. No. This is an order. You will get an assignment by tomorrow's end. Do you understand?" The tone was firm at the end. Very fitting for a Commander. After that last part, the Commander looked them over one more time. "Go back to your quarters until the Ceremony."

After the salutes were done and the Ensigns left, the Commander sighed as he pulled out a bottle of whiskey. "I swear those two will give me a hernia one day."

There weren't many other words in the dictionary that Cole hated more than Protocol. Following protocol meant going through numerous channels to get the information your gut already knew was right. Cole understood what the Commander was saying, but that didn't mean he agreed. Investigations required time and sometimes you aren't so fortunate to have time on your side. The real problem here was Cole, but not for the reasons the Commander was giving. No, Cole needed to teach his gut how to spot criminals and pirates better. Once he and his gut were in sync then the Ensign would be able to pinpoint danger a mile away and no one would question whether he was right or not. For now however, all Cole could do was sit there and listen to what the Commander had to say. At the very least Jenkins' anger seemed to be fading off by now, which meant the two Ensigns were saved from the pain of blown out eardrums. Though that didn't mean he still wasn't mad at them, especially Cole. The Commander even went as far as to take a jab at the one thing Cole always hoped for, a promotion. "Bishop wouldn't have followed protocol", the Ensign muttered under his breath as he folded his arms beneath his cloak. To make the situation all the more embarrassing Jenkins showed the Ensigns what they had "protected" the base from, chocolates. Seeing this Cole simply sat there with wide eyes and scrunched mouth. There was a tense silence in the room as the Commander simply stared at Benjamin and Cole through out all of it. Cole simply sat there, keeping the same expression on his face as his eyes darted around the room. "Some of those Cadets could be allergic to Chocolate", Cole responded while closing his eyes and shrugging, "I'm sure they're grateful for the work we did today."

Despite what Cole thought would happen his attempt to lighten the mood failed miserably. Instead the Commander continued to reprimand the two about how long they've been at the base. The shock was replaced with annoyance as Cole lowered his eyes to look at the floor around his feet. His attention was focused on the Commander again until he heard a faint thud against Jenkins' desk. Lifting his sights back up Cole saw a dossier that seemed a little on the stuffed side. It was Ben's file, full of complaints and incidents that the Ensign was involved in since coming to Obvion. Cole let out a faint chuckle at the sight of Ben's dossier, something like that had to be embarrassing. The giggles stopped however when the echoing boom of the book the Commander dropped on his desk startled Cole. This huge mass of papers and tape was the amalgamation of everything Cole had done since coming to the base. The wide eyes returned as Cole saw how much paper work it took tell the tale of his life in Obvion. He would never openly say it, but as he looked at the massive object that was his dossier Cole couldn't help but feel impressed. He wasn't proud of this, seeing as how this textbook of reprimanding was the sole thing keeping him on the island. As the Commander continued speaking he tried to calmly talk some sense into the Ensigns who he felt were trying their best. Once he mentioned the ceremony tonight Cole couldn't help but grimace a little. The thought of going to another Ceremony was not something that thrilled the young Ensign. Despite how he felt Cole did nod in agreement to Commander Jenkins when he basically ordered them both to be on their best behavior tonight. Once he dismissed the Ensigns Cole stood up from his chair, saluting the commander but forgetting to remove his right hand from his cloak again. Turning around Cole walked out of the office and made his way for their quarters.

The Ensign was quiet for most of the walk back to their room, only grumbling to himself every now and then. Once they made it back to their quarters Cole just fell right into his bed, his sight focused on the ceiling. "Hate these events like the Ceremony", Cole said in an annoyed voice as he folded his arms. "Basically have to go in and hope we can schmooze our way onto a crew!" His brow furrowed as the Ensign kept thinking about the situation he and Benjamin were in right now. "Hate these ceremonies...your not picked based on your talent there, its about how much ass you can kiss in a single night." Rolling over on his side Cole was silent for a moment, still mad about the way the day had turned out. "Sorry", Cole calmly said with his back facing Ben. "Your stuck on this island cause of me, Jenkins may as well tape your incidents to my dossier as well." He figured that his roommate was going to yell at him again, or bottle it up and take it out on Cole the first chance he could. Cole hated the latter since he was never able to see it coming. For now though Cole would just lay there and let Ben vent some steam if he had to, it was only fair. A few hours passed after the whole incident and it was time for the two of them to make their way to the Ceremony. Getting up from his bed Cole looked at Ben then down at his cloak. Looking back and fourth at the two for a minute Cole removed his left hand from the cloak and dusted it off. "There we go, good as new!" A simple dusting of his cloak and the Ensign felt like he was properly dressed for the Ceremony tonight. Just as he was going to make his way out the door he looked over at Ben with a concerned look. "You know you might want to clean yourself up a bit, this is a fancy event we're going to." Completely oblivious to the fact that Benjamin was always better dressed than himself, Cole left their quarters and made his way towards the Ceremony. How the night would turn out was a mystery to the Ensign, but his gut was telling him that it was going to be boring and uneventful.

Much thanks and appreciation to those who helped create and flourish the original One Piece Role Playing Game, located here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/One_Piece_RP/index/. It is a fantastic game which, obviously, we have based ours on in the most unobtrusive way possible, with any and all connections and correlations between our sites being nothing more than paid homage and the acceptance of excellent, well-considered ideas. While we here at NA have put a lot of effort into writing up the information for this game, a fair portion of it was borrowed and adapted from the aforementioned game, and so we here can't thank them enough for their hard work, and hope that anyone who ventures into this game checks their's out as well, assuming they have not already. They're a good bunch over there and deserve all the respect in the world for their ventures and creativity.
