Andros was on the deck of a merchant ship, the ship that had taken him here. The merchants - nice enough to let Andros ride with them for free - were just getting off the ship. They had just docked at the port of . They told him that they would be in town for a while, and to relax. Andros smiled; The sun was shining brightly, the waves calmly entering the port. The place in front of him was huge; massive walls towered over him, many people moving in and out. A couple of marines came up to the boat and began to question the merchants. Andros frowned; he did not like the marines, but knew that not all were bad. He had seen, however, many corrupt officers, who had hurt innocents, even children. Hurting the defenseless was never right in Andros' opinion. The Merchants and the Marines conversed for a bit. "Welcome to Nappa HQ, gentlemen. Before you can go any further, we're going to have to check your ship for any signs of piracy. Do you have papers?" Said one of the marines. Andros noted that the man was very polite. "Uhh, yeah. Here. We've got the papers," said one of the merchants, possibly the captain. Andros was not sure of his name, or any of their names; they had never introduced themselves to Andros. The Marine studied the papers very closely, nodding as he read on. Finally, he handed the papers back to one of the merchants. "I see, you're free to go. But who is that man up there?" The Marine pointed to Andros. Andros looked back at the marine with a peculiar look. "Oh, yeah. We picked him up at the last stop. Name's Andrew or something, he's an okay guy. Why?" The marine passed the merchants and headed for Andros slowly, ready to ask him questions. "Good day to you, sir. What is your name?" Andros thought of questioning the marine at first, wondering why the marine asked for Andros' name and not any of the merchants' names. He decided to be polite and answer back. "My name is Andros," He said, nodding politely. The marine nodded back. "Alright.. so, Andros, are you carrying any kind of weaponry?" "No, sir." "Alright.. do you have any affiliations with any pirates, or with piracy in general?" Andros was slightly offended by the question, but answered honestly. "Of course not, sir. I am an upcoming Bounty Hunter." The marine raised his eyebrows, and looked Andros up and down. He made an expression that signified Andros appeared to be a good enough fighter. "Alright, then. You're all set. Welcome to Nappa HQ, sir." Andros was perplexed; he was not familar with the abbreviation "HQ", or with the name Nappa. "Nappa..? I am sorry, I do not understand. I am from very far away." The marine nodded. He could tell. "Yes.. definitely. Nappa HQ stands for North Appa Headquarters. This is a large marine institution, the most fortified marine base in North Blue! You said you're a Bounty Hunter, hmm?.. You could check in with one of the Lieutenants. Maybe there's a bounty you could help us with?" Andros nodded in excitement. He was ready to hunt down his first bounty. "Yes, yes. I most definitely will. Thank you very much, officer." Andros headed off of the ship. The merchants had long since left, and were already in the HQ, probably trading their wares with other merchants. Andros had a couple things in mind to do while he was here. First and foremost, Andros wanted to obtain a bounty, but that could wait. He wanted to see the island first, incase they did not have time. While on the ship, Andros heard the merchants mentioning this being the homeplace of a man named Montblanc Noland. Andros was very interested in why this man was so popular, and if there was a story behind him. He also wanted to investigate the ruins supposedly hidden on this island; the merchants talked of ghosts still roaming the ruined castle. When Andros asked what ghosts were, he were told they were spirits that had died and still roamed the world. Andros prayed for the spirits that night, as a part of his religion. He believed in all of the spirits, and always prayed when he heard of harmful spirits or spirits that were sorrowful or harmed. Andros was confused as what to head for first; there were so many options. Andros decided to ask around about Montblanc Noland first; culture and history were two of the many things that interested Andros. He was eager to hear the story of this man, and what he had done he become so famous - or infamous. |

Andros began to look for anyone to ask about Montblanc Noland. This, however, would be difficult for him; he had been off of his island long enough to know that most people really do not care about your predicament. He had learned this by approaching many people in the past. When a muscular, dark-skinned tribal that's over six feet starts walking towards you, you tend to get a little nervous. Andros walked around the marine headquarters; there were many merchants and commoners buying and selling things. Andros was not extremely familiar with any of his merchants, and did not notice a couple of them until they started to call him over. "Hey, Andrew!.. His name's andrew, right?.. Get over here! Check this out!" The merchants from the ship were surrounding a merchant stall of spices and goods from all over the four Blues. There were many things that Andros did not recognize; some things, however, he had seen before. He recognized some herbs and spices they used on his island of tribals, and other things he had already been introduced to. One of the merchants pointed to something, trying to get Andros to look at it. It was a unique spice that he had seen only once or twice on the tribal island. They called it Erhar, their way of saying "dog". They called it this because it smelt rather foul after being crushed up in a pestle & mortar to make a delicious spice. When they found Erhar, they used it sparingly, only during times of grand celebration. "Andrew, you know what this is?" the merchant said, holding his nose at the smell. The merchants were laughing between each other at the terribly odd smell. Andros picked the herb up and smelled it; it was definitely the crude stench of Erhar. As he smelled it, the merchants were shocked that he put the bad-smelling herb so close to his nose. They started laughing again amongst themselves. "Yes.. I know this herb. Our people called it Erhar. It is a delicacy. Why?" The merchants "oooh"ed and "aaah"ed as they came to a realization. "Ahh, thanks Andrew. We were wondering why it was so expensive. So it tastes really good, huh?" Andros nodded. It had a indescribably great taste, like none other. One merchant said to Andros, "So, uhh, what does arharr mean exactly?" "Erhar. It means dog, because of the smell." Andros pointed to his nose. The merchants bursted with laughter. "Haha! The dog herb! Hilarious!" Andros shrugged; he didn't think it was so funny. The merchants thanked Andros, and patted him on the back. "Alright, thanks Andrew. We'll buy some with the meat we just got. We'll have some tonight! Sound good?" Andros nodded excitedly. He liked meat, and he also loved the taste of Erhar. It was a double win for him. "Yes, good. Thank you. Do you know who I could talk to about Mont.. Mont.." "Montblanc Noland? Oh, hey. Just go to the library, it's err, down the lane somewhere there. We're going back to the ship for a lil' nap. We'll be back later to hit the bars!" The merchants then ran off back to the ship. "A library..?" Andros said to himself, confused. He was not entirely sure what a library was. He figured it was a place where people could go to learn things, though. He was rather good at deducing things on his own. He began to look for this "library" place, walking in the direction the merchant had waved his arm. He wondered if the library would be an outside area or an inside area. In his tribal village, only very important places were given inside areas, or buildings as everyone here called them. He was very eager to find information on Montblanc Noland, and maybe more about Lyneel and North Blue. Andros was always a curious person, eager to learn about how people lived and what they believed. He had never seen any negatives in leaving the village and island of his birth; it gave him a chance to learn more about all the people in the world and what they did. |

Andros was very eager to find this "library". It supposedly had information on Montblanc Noland. It also possibly would have information on other things. If it did, Andros was not sure if he would manage to do all the things he wanted to do today; he always thirsted for knowledge about history and life. He approached a small building at the end of one of the streets. It was a smaller, white building covered in vines. A swinging sign attached to the wall said "Lyneel Library". Another, more recent poster was slapped onto the bottom of the sign. It featured a picture of a cartoonish man grinning, labelled "Montblanc Noland!" Andros smiled. He had found what he was looking for. He gently pushed the door open and walked in, very eager to see what was inside. The library, while very small, had almost every wall covered in books, scrolls, or other types of literature. He looked at the shelves in awe; never before had he seen this many writings in one space. He could spend days, even weeks here and never be bored. "This is.. amazing. All of these books in one place.." Andros was almost dumbfounded by this discovery of a "library." Suddenly, a voice spoke up. "Why yes, it sure is, haha. What, have you never seen a library before?" The comment came from a shorter, older man who sat at a desk in front of Andros. Andros was so amazed by his surroundings that he had not even noticed the man. The same could be said for the man at the desk; he was so busy writing in a notebook that he had not even looked up to address Andros. "I suppose you came here to find out about.. Montblanc.. Noland?" The man had looked up, and was very surprised by Andros' appearance. After all, Andros was a rather tall, muscular man with dark skin. His type were not seen very often around here. Andros was confused as to why the man had stopped. "Is.. something wrong, sir?" Andros said, politely. "..Ah! Nothing. You just look.. very athletic. Anyway, you are here to learn about Montblanc Noland, yes?" Andros shook his head eagerly. "Yes, yes. Please tell me about him." The man jumped up out of his chair excitedly. "Good, good! Let's get started, shall we? As you can see, I'm the librarian." The librarian got up and led him to one of the only parts of the wall untouched by bookshelves; it was a large portrait of the same cartoonish character he had seen outside. "This is Montblanc Noland. Looks like a nice guy, right?" Andros looked at the portrait. The person had a large grin on his face. "..I suppose so. He is grinning, after all." The librarian had a grin on his face as well. He was very excited about telling Andros about this, as it seemed he didn't get to do it very often. "Aha! So you would say. However, This is not the case. Let me introduce you to Norland, King of Liars!..." The librarian then cleared his throat and pulled a book out of a nearby bookshelf. "A story over 400 years ago... In a certain country in the northern seas, there was a man named Montblanc Noland. Noland the Explorer's stories were always grand adventures that sounded like lies. But the people of the village could never tell if they were true or not. One time, Noland went on an expedition, and came back to report to the king. "I saw a mountain of gold on an island across the great seas." To see for himself, the brave king took 2,000 warriors and crossed the great seas in his ship. He fought powerful storms and huge sea monsters. Finally, the king, Noland, and 100 soldiers landed on the island. But what they found there was nothing but jungle. Noland was sentenced to death for his lies. These were his last words. "That's it! The mountain of gold sunk into the ocean!!!" The king and the others were shocked. Nobody believed Noland anymore, but he never stopped lying until he was dead..." The librarian looked at Andros ominously, in order to create much suspense. Andros was amazed by the story. A city of gold.. but it wasn't true. The man was a liar, after all.. a liar. Andros had never understood why someone would not tell the truth to another. Andros always told the truth, even if it hurt him. The librarian cleared his throat again. Andros almost jumped because he was thinking so hard about the story. "Ahem. So, a very interesing story, no?" |

"That story.. was very interesting," said Andros, very glad to have listened. "I am very happy to have heard it. Thank, you sir." The librarian was impressed by Andros' very good manners. He puffed out his chest to look like a heroic figure, and said "Aww, it was nothing. Thanks for listening." Andros began to wander around the small library aimlessly, just admiring the books. The librarian cleared his throat again. "Was there.. anything you needed, sir?" Andros scratched his head. He wondered if he should ask the librarian about going to see the old ruins. They interested him a lot, and he wanted to see if these spirits were real. "Umm, yes. I was wondering.. Would you know anything about ruins?" The librarian had sat down at his desk and was writing. He looked up, a little worried. "Surely you don't mean.. THE ruins..?" Andros was very confused. This had jarred a negative reaction from the librarian. "..Well, yes. I do.. the old ruins of the kingdom. Why? Is it.. dangerous?" "Yes, young man. It certaintly is. But.. I tell you what," The librarian said, pulling something out of his desk. He walked over to Andros and handed it to him. "You seem like a, heh, formidable fellow, so he's this old map I scribbled up years ago that leads to the ruins. It can be a cakewalk or extremely dangerous, depending on the time of day and who goes. You might scare off the weaker folk with your.. well.." The librarian was referring to Andros' figure. "..You might, uhh, scare off the smaller animals. Actually, right now is about the perfect time to go.. there's the least possibility of danger now. I'd get going soon." Andros thanked the librarian several times, then headed out the door. The librarian shouted after him, "Just be back before dark!" Andros didn't hear the warning before leaving, but he wasn't sure he would even be out that long anyway. Andros decided to take a look at the map. It was.. rather disconcerting. Either the libarian was a terrible artist in his youth or he had JUST drawn it while Andros wasn't looking. Either way, a map was a map. Apparently there would be a dirt path somewhere in the rolling hills that would bring him to the ruins. That was.. extremely vague. But he figured he could find it if he searched long enough. He walked to the end of the wall of the large Marine headquarters, which had an open gate. He approached one of the marines. "Excuse me. Does this lead to.. the ruins?" The marine answered quickly, "Yes, it does. It also leads to a small village down the way. Were you thinking of travelling out there?" Andros nodded. "Yes, I was. Thank you." As Andros headed out the gate, the marine called, "Be back before nighttime! It gets even MORE dangerous out there then!" |

Andros began his trek to find the ruins. According to what he had been told by the merchants, the ruins were from the old monarch that ruled. After an attack on the king, the kingdom crumbled. The Marines soon took over, and North Appa Headquarters was established. The whole story had interested Andros a lot, and he wanted to see evidence of the old kingdom. Andros stopped to take a look around at the scenery; it was a beautiful sight. The rolling hills of rich, green grass, the peaceful plains and fields full of all sorts of flowers, even the sight of the massive headquarters behind Andros added to the scenery. Andros smiled as he closed his eyes and took in the aroma of the grass, flowers, and even the dirt. To have it put frankly, Andros was a "sucker for nature". He could have stopped then and began to meditate, but he knew that he had to go on. As he went on, admiring the beauty of the island, he began to feel more and more ominous. Something amidst all of this nature was not right. Andros frowned, knowing he was probably nearing the ruins. He did a silent prayer in his head for the souls in despair as he reached an intersection. He took the map out again, the one the librarian gave him; it was almost completely useless. One thing that stood out, however, was that the librarian had exaggerated a sharp turn to the right.. which was most likely what he was coming across right now. Before him was a 3-way intersection made out of two gigantic hills meeting. Two ways led across a nicer looking path between Nappa HQ and the village that was down the way. The third path was very dark and gloomy, with fungi siding the hill there. Andros headed for the third path, not sure what he would find. He could not turn back now, but he had already come this far. Andros came out on the other side of the two hills, and found himself looking at a very melancholy sight. ![]() The ruins were very bleak and gloomy, covered with an ominous, thin mist. Houses and buildings were cracked and falling apart, with windows broken and paint chipped off. The castle on the top of the hill, still intact, was a remarkable sight. But even from where he stood, Andros could see parts had broken off, and it was in bad condition. The whole area, though appearing to be rid of people, still felt.. very off. In short, Andros had a really bad feeling about this place. He sat down to cogitate if he should even go further or not. After all, he had finally seen the ruins. "I could go now, but.. I am already here. I may not come here ever again. Why not just take a look..?" Satisfied with his decision, Andros got up and began to approach the ruins. As he passed a couple houses, he looked inside through broken windows. The houses were almost pitch black on the inside. Andros had no idea what to expect if he went in one. Suddenly, he spotted a light coming out of an old, destroyed bar. Half of one of the walls of the bar had crumbled away. The space inside emitted a bright candlelight. Andros slowly approached the bar, not sure if it was a friend or foe. As he got to the crumbled wall, he peeked inside; there was no one there. There was a simply a desk with a lit candle on it, the chair pushed aside. Someone had been here.. but where had they gone? Andros heard rustling from another part of the bar. He peeked his head in farther, and heard the distinct sound of a sword unsheathing. Andros grimaced, and said loudly, "Who goes there?" Sounds of footsteps got louder, as a dirty-looking man moved into the candelight, wielding a medium-sized katana. "Looks like I've got an easy victim.. Hmm, maybe he has some cash on him.." Said the man covered in dirt, smirking. It looked like Andros would be fighting someone a lot sooner than he thought. |

"So.. What will it be...? Should I chop you up limb from limb, or should I just cut your legs off and make you crawl back to the Marines..?" The bandit was slowly creeping towards Andros, with a twisted smile. He was making strange noises; he was surely demented. The bandit quickly swung his sword at Andros. Andros tried to jump out of the way and slipped, barely dodging the attack. He hit his head on the floor as he fell, and began to rub it. "Ouch.." Suddenly, the bandit swung at him again. Andros kicked the bandit hard in the stomach from the ground. The bandit was hit hard, almost dropping his katana. Andros jumped up while the bandit was stunned, and moved back to get out of the bandit's range. The bandit looked in pain from the blow; he probably wasn't expecting a hit. As the bandit creeped in for another attack, Andros decided to try and end this as soon as possible. As quickly as he could, he grabbed the bandit's arms. The bandit yelped and kicked Andros in the leg, which he took full force. It hurt a lot, but he needed to focus on disabling the bandit. He whipped the bandit around and went for the back of his neck, in hopes of just knocking him out. - Technique Name: Forearm Whip – Rank 4 Type: Offensive Range: Arm Reach Stats: None Andros cracks the enemy with his forearm, like a whip. He prefers to aim for the neck or any weak spot, hoping to neutralize rather than kill. With a whole lot of luck, Andros managed to whip the bandit in the back of the neck, but not before getting kicked in the leg again. The bandit slumped to the ground, unconscious. Andros lifted up his pant leg to look at his leg. It was already swelling up, and it was hurting a lot. Andros winced in pain as he rubbed it. Would he even be able to walk? Andros tried walking for a little bit. It hurt a lot, but it didn't seem like Andros' leg was broken or anything. It had just been hit pretty badly. Andros could theoretically "walk it off", but overall it would take a day or two to heal. Andros sat down for a bit, next to the candlelight, trying to relax and calm himself before heading forward. He looked at the bandit one more time to make sure he was still out. He definitely was. Andros had done a number on his neck; he would be out for a couple hours, at the least. After relaxing for a couple of minutes, Andros decided to get up and make his way back to Nappa HQ. It was getting dark, and he had been told to get out of the ruins before dark. He also wanted to see the entertainment the merchants were talking about. Andros hurriedly limped to the intersection; there was a lot of pain, but if he could just concentrate on something else, he would be fine. He began to think about his village, and was wondering what they would be doing right now. Perhaps they would be telling stories, or sharing gifts, or even celebrating. It had been a while since he had thought about his home village, and he missed living there. But, since he had come into this wonderful world filled with even more knowledge, he had never wanted to go back. This world was full of happiness, adventure, and surprises - he noted his leg. He winced again, and realized he should not be thinking about it. Before he knew it, he had arrived back at the gates. It was night now. The Marine stationed there earlier that day was still there. "Why hello there!" He said, smiling at Andros. Andros smiled and nodded back. The Marine frowned. "Did you.. go to the ruins? You appear to be.. limping." Andros nodded. He rubbed his leg. "It is no problem. I only got into a fight.. at the ruins. It is fine." The marine shrugged, and Andros walked away. Andros wanted to get back to the ship so he could rest a little before the entertainers came onto the streets and played. |

Andros reached the merchant's ship, just as all of the merchants were getting off of it. They were all very intoxicated and joking around. "Haha, man, this is- this's great..I think.. I think I'm in love.." said one of the merchants, stumbling off the deck. The other merchants gasped in surprise, one hiccuping as he did it. Another mechant said to the first, "Love, man.. That's a- that's a big commitment. And who.. Who?!" The first merchant giggled loudly and tripped over a rock. The other merchants laughed. Still on the ground, the first merchant, still on the ground, said "ALL OF- all of you. I LOVE you guys." All of the merchants laughed and flopped on the ground, giving each other an awkward group hug from the floor. Andros was a little disconcerted by the merchants' behavior. He had not really gotten used to the idea of a drink making you act so strange. He would probably not drink any alcohol anytime soon. Andros walked past the merchants during their drunken group hug and headed for the ship. He opened a hutch on the deck and climbed down into the middle of the boat. They were letting him sleep in the cargo hold. Andros quickly flopped onto his poorly-made hammock. Sleep would come quickly; he was very fatigued by the long walk from the HQ to the ruins and back. The fight had also tired him. Little did he know, he'd get caught in a little scheme, and a very big misunderstanding. ~ It was getting late. The merchants had just gotten off the ship; this was their oppurtunity to strike. Two dark figures from behind a crate began to converse. "Let's go! Now's our chance!" "..Whaaat? What the heck'ya mean?" One bopped the other on the head with his elbow. "The ship, you bozo! We can steal it now, they just left!" These two schemer's names were Randy and Paul. They were planning to steal the merchant ship for themselves, while the merchants were gone. Paul, the smarter of the two rather unintelligent would-be pirates, spoke up. "Let's go, Randy! Now!!"Randy looked at Paul, very confused. "Why now, Paul..? They're right there-" "They're also DRUNK OFF OF THEIR ASSES! Let's GO, you moron!" Paul smacked Randy on the head with his elbow again, and they sneaked towards the ship. The group of merchants were stumbling around, completely unaware of what was about to happen. Unfortunately for the two "pirates", they had not noticed Andros board the ship and go to the cargo hold. Quietly, the two pirates pulled up the anchor. Paul grabbed the steering wheel. "Let's go, Randy! Go! Go!!! This ship is OURS!!!" Paul shouted loudly as the ship pulled out of the harbor. Several people shouted after them as the ship undocked, but it was too late. They were going out to sea. Rossier lay in the cargo hold, sleeping like a rock and unaware of the situation he was about to enter.. End of Thread |
