Lex and Emma had arrived on the island because they were so close to it and because of the opportunity to purchase a log pose here, even if he wasn't planning on heading to the grand line just yet. The two were also planning on getting their new ship here, one that was a lot bigger having more than just two rooms, one which was currently crowded with junk. The two had been on the island for a while and had noticed that a lot of people were wearing white, at the time they didn't care to think much of it.

They were walking through the city, looking for a man they were going to meet so they could talk to him about buying a ship from him. As they were walking Lex started noticing more of the people with the white, "Hey Emma, why do you think everyone around here is wearing white, they all look so nice, the same, unoriginal..."

"Who cares, let's just focus on finding this guy's shop so we can get our ship." she started walking ahead searching for the place with terrible directions on a piece of paper. She had found the building, it was easier to find than she had thought, "Let's go buy a ship." she said as she looked around for Lex, looking back to see him standing staring at something, she started going back to get him.

Lex had stopped and looked down an alley at a group of people in white on the other side, they were standing on a small hill of grass. They all to be listening to one girl talk on a stage, she was mainly walking to one person, a man who looked like a pirate. All he heard was one line while the girl was talking to the pirate and the group, "You don't need to behave like this, you can be so much better." the group then began clapping and Lex was pulled off by Emma and the last thing he heard was "Welcome to Virtue."

The aroma of scrumptious morsels of food; varying from the sweet delicate Entrée's to the enticing full course meals struck Florian's nostrils with the full brute force of its temptations. Saliva welled within the Orpheus of his mouth at the thought of a nice warm meal. He had not eaten since yesterday due to financial complications, along the lines of giving what money he had to spare to a fellow homeless person. Florian had no real set destination, and in the last few months he was prone to travelling quite frequently. Every island he arrived at gave him a whole new perspective on life as he no longer viewed the world through rose tinted glasses.

The man hummed a small tune while caressing the hilt of his combat knife strapped to his back. The hard rubber handle, warmed by his palm gripping the blade, felt reassuring as he hastened his pace through the narrow side roads. He was not too familiar with the location, but had took note of a number of sketchy individuals, all bearing similarly coloured attire, patrolling the streets in the surrounding area. Normally Florian would pay them no heed but he was hungry and a little on edge. So the last thing he needed was a potential confrontation with some gang of sorts. However, if someone was being victimized that would be an entirely different story.

As Florian was deep in thought, focused mainly on finding somewhere to get a bite to eat, he happened to pick up on a rather heated conversation coming from up ahead. "You don't need to behave like this, you can be so much better." a girl said, her voice trailing to the right from a fork in the road up ahead. In response to her statement, Florian noticed that an applause was issued in response. He had not meant to eavesdrop, but his mild interest in what was going on would keep him from his ever growing hunger. Florian burst into a brisk jog over to the fork in the road, where he saw a number of individuals bearing the same white uniform gathered atop a grassy hill. To his left he saw the fleeting image of a man and a woman passing by on a parallel street to his own. Before they had left, he had noticed that the man had been as intent on the happenings of that gathering as he was. However, the last comment pulled his attention back from his fellow onlooker. "Welcome to Virtue."

Florian mused what "Virtue" meant, as he kept his gaze solely on the man dressed somewhat like you'd expect a pirate to appear as. With little consideration for his own well being, Florian waltzed right into the lively gathering. His curiosity had got the best of him, and he thought that these fellows might actually be part of some religious organization. If so, they might find donating a small portion of money going hand in hand with god's will or some bull shit like that. Though, Florian still kept one hand on the hilt of his knife, just in case things turned ugly.

Most of the members were too busy with the happenings on the small stage infront of them that they didn't notice Florian approach. He took advantage of his luck and jointed the group from the back. The pirate like fellow was speaking in a hushed tone to the girl so he couldn't make out what he was saying from his vantage point. Sighing reluctantly, Florian decided to tap the man standing infront of him on the shoulder. Surprised, the man in white robes spun abruptly on his heels to face Florian. Flo half expected him to receive the interruption in an angered, if not aggressive manner. Though instead the man merely smiled and whispered to him "I see we have an uninvited guest. I'd suggest you come with me quietly so we can find out what ye know". With that said, the man turned towards another dimly lit alley way, beckoning as he went for him to follow while revealing his pistol threateningly if Florian was to resist orders.

"Sure... but what about my friend over there?" Florian asked non chalantely. As he asked, he pointed towards the center of the group. With the man briefly distracted, Florian bolted from the area, which turned all attention on him as he fled. His heart was beating rather quickly, and his blood pressure was rising, knowing that a bullet might dig its way into his body at any moment. With a little luck he managed to make his way out towards the street he had seen the man and women walk down earlier. If he ever got the chance to reflect on his actions he'd know not to walk right into a gathering of lunatics without planning out what he was going to do first.

Nikoli was stricken by wanderlust.

Since leaving Dahngrest, he had been content to simply drift wherever the currents took him, taking in the sights and sounds as he went. But nothing seemed to satisfy him. White beaches and blue skies became a dull routine. Beautiful women were a nice distraction, but he couldn't take them with them anymore than he would have stayed and become some sleazy live-in boyfriend. He was searching for something he could not quite remember, and if he found it, there was no way to be sure he would recognize it in the first place.

At least the U.S. of Teriyaki had a reputation for good food, and that was as fine a reason to dock as any. After loosely securing his ship and collecting his stuff, Nikoli had disembarked and wandered off in no particular direction, eventually ending up along the market. The calls of vendors filled the air, each one hawking their wares, but Nikoli moved with no particular haste. He flipped the collar of his grey dress shirt and adjusted his sunglasses, as a pair of female tourists giggled and passed him by.

"Ladies..."

He didn't notice the white-haired boy until he had nearly fallen over him, colliding into his side with a grunt of mingled surprise and annoyance. The duffel bag with his bats slipped from its perch on his shoulder, and then the pirate very nearly overbalanced from the weight. Nikoli backed off half a step and looked the kid over, shooting him a glare that his shades absorbed. "What's the big idea, kid? You didn't even..."

Then a thought struck him, and his hands flew to his pockets, his wallet. "You some kinda thief? You pickpocket me? If you did, you'll regret it! I'm gonna..." Then Nikoli's hand seized on the lump in his side pocket, fingered through it, and then closed it again. Nothing seemed to be missing. "Uh, shit. Maybe you're not a thief. Eh...sorry about that."

Nikoli didn't do well with apologies, any more than he did with awkward silences, so in his usual manner, he sought to fill it the only way he knew how: fast talk. "Hell were ya running from, anyways? You got the law on you? If you do, don't bring me into it. I didn't even do anything yet- I mean, I didn't even do anything." The pirate grunted, pulling the bag back over his shoulder and peered down the alleyway that the kid had come from. Nothing screamed suspicious, as there was little more than the average amount of graffiti and refuse. Beyond the alley, he could make out the countryside beyond, and what seemed to be a number of people in white robes, but they were fast departing.

Huh. Dunno what that's about.

Lex was being dragged by Emma, he was wondering just what this Virtue thing was and why so many people were joining this group, but he had to focus on getting themselves a new ship. They passed by a couple more of the Virtue looking people, all of them seemed so nice, polite, it just seemed so weird. When they got to the shop where Emma brought him to she noticed something, there was a sign on the door.

She read it out loud as she read it, "At Virtue meeting, be back later." it didn't even say when he would be back to his shop, it could be days, weeks, months, but being a meeting she was still guessing later that day. "Well now what should we do, we should probably just come back early tomorrow."

"Let's go see what this Virtue thing is, that was the group I was looking at when you dragged me away." and then some man came running around the corner, looking as if he was running away from someone or something. He ignored the man and started heading the way the man came from to get to the Virtue group, hoping he could find the man who sold/made ships there. "Just from seeing them from a moment they seemed really strange."

He took out a cigarette and lighter and began smoking as he was walking, going past the guy that had just turned the corner, Emma following right behind, "Well maybe they thought you were strange too, what did they do that was so strange."

The Virtue group had turned this Pirate Captain into one of them, quickly he was now wearing white clothes and looking as if he was a changed man, even acting completely different. Him and his pirate crew were now throwing their weapons into a fire, burning all their weapons, everything that was bad in the world.

They had then noticed something, besides an odd man who acted as if he was one of them and ended up running away, a boy who had ruined the walls of a building. They quickly walked over to the boy who was now next to some man, going to grab the both of them so they can convert them into their Virtue group, the leader standing a couple of meters away from them, "You don't need to behave like this, you can be so much better." the boy bring so young was easily turned into one of them with just those words, the group was trying to get as many people in their group as they could, wanting to make the world a better place.

The disturbed marksmen nearly toppled over the gentlemen that blindly stepped into his path during his nearly successful getaway. A low groan escaped his mouth as his shoes skidded against the smooth, stone cobbled road; which as a matter of fact did little in the way of halting his momentum. Knowing full well that the grip on his shoes were not going to prevent the collision, he grinned and bared the brunt force of the man's shoulder which his nose dug right into. The pain edged its way into his mind and left him feeling dizzy. His matted hair pressed against his face, covering the initial tears that welled from the cardinal in his nose almost being bashed in during impact. Luckily it wasn't broken, but it did seem likely to bruise. "Son of a..." he said under his breath while he rubbed his nose tenderly. He then glanced over towards the man he had crashed into and noticed that it wasn't the man's shoulder that had greeted his nose rather impolitely - but a duffle bag. He winced not knowing what the hell the bag contained that he had really banged into, and why it had hurt so much. At least he had a faint idea as to why the guy's shoulder had felt particularly sturdy. For a second there it seemed as if he'd ran right into a wall.

"What's the big idea, kid? You didn't even..." The man then spoke to him, which pulled Florian from his momentary train of thought. "Ah sorry..." he tried to say before being cut off. "You some kinda thief? You pickpocket me? If you did, you'll regret it! I'm gonna...". It seemed they had gotten off on the wrong foot. However, the still dazed Florian just watched as the man frantically searched himself and realized that he had wrongly accused him. "Uh, shit. Maybe you're not a thief. Eh...sorry about that." ... A long silence ensued as Florian rubbed the bridge of his nose realizing that it had gone slightly numb. He was caught off guard with this rather peculiar man, not that Florian was judging him of course, but he didn't know what to really say. "It's alright ma..." he tried to say before being cut off again. "Hell were ya running from, anyways? You got the law on you? If you do, don't bring me into it. I didn't even do anything yet- I mean, I didn't even do anything."

Florian furrowed his brow in a look of dismay. "I'm not a petty thief. I have no reason to steal your belongings" he said non nonchalantly. He loosened his shoulders and eased into a warming smile before continuing. "I'm with you though buddy. Rather new to this island and the last thing I wanted was trouble... Till those creepers in white tried tried to threaten me into following them who knows where!" he exclaimed pointing down the alley way he had moments ago been sprinting from. It was beyond him as to why the men hadn't pursued him further. He just assumed they had better things to attend to then chase him down the winding streets of Teriyaki."I don't know what's up with them, but if you know what's good for you I'd suggest staying away. I'm a little interested in what their up to though. Called themselves Virtue if I recall right. Maybe I should alert the authorities..." he said trailing off again. He really didn't want to have to deal with marines if at all possible. In an attempt to change the subject he coughed into his balled up fist and turned his attention back to the man. He hoped that this individual shared the same sentiment of not going to the marines, and that now knowing his predicament he would not suggest such a notion.

"Anyways, I'm Florian. Florian Fortesque. Though, call me what you will. Some just call me Flo... or Shot" he said tentatively while thoughtfully grasping the nuzzle of his rifle to emphasize the nickname "Shot". For a moment he stared past the man to see the two people from before; a man and a women. They approached the alley way him and the gentlemen he had bumped into were standing beside. "Hey I wouldn't go down there if I were you" he called over to them; noticing that they were getting dangerously close to where had just ran from. He kept as grave a face as he could muster to communicate to them how risky it would be to tango with those freaks. However, he followed where they were looking and noticed a young boy being converted to the group "Virtue". He once again felt a little disturbed; imagining that the man who had threatened him possibly held similar motives for him. He gestured for the man to look once again. "Those are the guys I was telling you about" Florian said excitedly. There were a few more of them seemingly regrouping where Florian had seen them last. They adorned the boy in a white ceremonial robe and were ushering him up to the stage as well. Florian, a little reluctant but feeling that he'd regret not doing something if he let the boy be, slowly walked back down the alley way. Though, he didn't wish to go alone this time and waved back for both the man, and the two others to follow his lead. He gave a little wink in the hopes of pushing them to follow before turning his head back towards the gathering. Whatever was going on, he would get to the bottom of it. For better or worse that is, considering the men had equipped themselves with weaponry earlier. It would of been even more advantageous for Florian if he had known what was burning in the bonfire near the stage. This being the former pirate crews entire stash of weapons.

“Creepers, huh?”

Fairly confident that his belongings were all in their proper places, the pirate was able to actually concentrate on what the guy in front of him was saying…at least to some degree. He looked a little familiar, like someone he had run into at some point and time in the past, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Nikoli grimaced, taking another glance down the alley, as if the mere mention of these strangers would be enough to bring them running. He wasn’t too worried about folks in white clothing running around preaching their particular brand of crazy, but he was keenly aware of the word ‘authorities’ and all the connotations associated with it. If they were after this guy, and the Marines were involved with them…

“Gonna assume they ain’t following you no more, Fortian,” Nikoli said, demonstrating selective listening at work. “If that’s the case, let’s not bring the law into the picture, huh? Those guys hate getting called for no reason…I’ve heard.” He’d heard no such thing, but lies flowed free and easy when he was anxious, and though there was little reason for the Marines to want to capture a rookie…he was the son of Belle Brown, after all. He was famous! It wouldn’t do for his journey to end so soon after its uneventful beginning.

The best way to make sure that Fortian didn’t do anything rash was to hang around long enough so that he could be sure there was no trouble he could expect from the law. Naturally, the first thing Fortian wanted to do was walk towards the problem rather than away from it. Nikoli did his best to suppress an annoyed grunt and failed miserably. “Whoever these Virtue guys are, maybe it’s not a good idea to get involved with whatever the hell their angle is, y’know?"

The smoke from the bonfire was visible high above the rooftops, and the sight of it unnerved him. Then Nikoli realized he was feeling anxious, which in turn, made him feel a little angry. What did he have to be afraid of, anyways? He was a pirate, after all, and this Virtue group were nothing special— trumped up religious nuts with a sense of self-importance.

“On second thought, lead on.”

Lex watched the virtue group, as some people introduced themselves and were talking, he was more focused on the group watching them turn some child into a member of their group. With just a few words and the kid was exactly like them, it didn't look like it but he was listening to the two guys that were near him. It seemed they didn't want the marines involved in this, whatever it was, he wasn't sure how they did it, but he wanted to find out and stop it, this was the exact type of thing he would usually attempt to stop.

"Emma, let's hide and follow them, find out how they are getting so many members to join so easily." Emma looked at Lex, she just wanted to find the man they were going to buy the ship from, "You can do that, I'm going to go find the man with the ship, see ya later." she started walking off in a different direction while the Virtue group was heading back to their little stage area.

Lex looked at the two guys, "Time to find out what's going on." he then started talking to those two guys who were talking and close by him, "If you guys don't want to get marines involved and care that much then take care of it yourself." he said as he started climbing a ladder that led to a roof top that was across from the Virtue group, and the burning of their weapons.

The child that had just turned into one of them was throwing away the small amount of weapons he had, Lex wondered why a kid would even have that kind of weapons, and he quickly changed into white clothes just like the rest of the pirates who had just turned. The one who looked like the leader began talking about how they all need to help those in need, stop the violence in the world, get everyone to be just like them.

OOC: No problem, I tend to post more frequently on weekends anywho. But I'll try to get at least one post in a day otherwise.

The rather daring marksman turned to his companions and frowned as he saw that they weren't cooperating to his liking. "Would you guys be able to sit idly if that kid there gets killed? Or worse..." Florian asked, trying to strike enough nerve in the three that they would feel motivated enough to follow. However, his words were ineffective seeing as the chick that moments ago was standing behind him had left the premiss. He had only looked away a second and his group was already disintegrating. Out of the two men that were left, one had warned him that to avoid any contact with the marines he'd have to take care of this himself. Florian agreed with a prompt nod. After all, he wouldn't have it any other way himself. Like the saying goes, if you want something done right you should do it yourself.

However, by what the man said Florian took it as if he was not interested in helping. Though, the man didn't seem to follow after the woman he was with and instead climbed a ladder towards a rooftop nearby. Florian mentally smacked himself knowing that it would of been a good idea for him to do the same. After all, he was most potent at long range. Not to mention that al though he was confident in his own abilities, he knew that the overbearing number of Virtue members would quickly make mince meat out of him if he attempted anything alone. He fought back his desire to investigate what the man was planning to do on the roof and trudged closer towards the Virtue members gathering once again.

Before getting too close, he halted to check whether or not the vaguely familiar man was still with him. Thus said, he tilted his head to see behind him and bore his uneasy frown in the direction of the man, that for some reason since bumping in to him gave him an odd sense of nostalgia. He could hear the man still talking as he was moving on ahead, and understood where he was coming from thinking it was unnecessary to get involved. However, it gave him an indescribable amount of relief when, after a moment of hesitation, the man had a change of heart and decided to aid Florian in his "daring quest" to see what Virtue was really up to. The blonde man knew full well what would happen if he got caught by them for a second time with the site of that creepy man threatening him with a pistol still fresh in his mind.

Since he knew full well the risks involved with meddling where he didn't belong, Florian felt it only right to make sure his comrade knew that there was no pressure, and he could leave now if he so wished. "Listen, I can't guarantee either of us will make it out unharmed, so if you want to turn back this is your last chance" Florian whispered loud enough so that the man behind him could hear. He then paused, before speaking again. "I never caught your name by the way. I feel like I've seen you before. In case we don't see each other again after this, or I have to identify your body to the authorities, at least grant me the privilege of knowing who's got my back" Florian said, making his request seem far more severe, and a little more overly dramatic than he intended.

Aside from the soft humming of the wind, a low chant was beginning to arise from the mass of white robes just beyond the alley way. He couldn't make out exactly what they were saying, but every couple of seconds he'd catch a word or two. Something about "Atonement and Sacrifice". Hell if he knew what they were talking about. His only worry was that the chanting would lead to something more "Dangerously Maniacal". Creepy chanting usually did. Though, it wasn't his place to make any snap judgements and he'd need to get a closer look before he could be certain. What ever it was, it definitely was not something normal, or healthy for grown men to be doing on a sunny afternoon in the sun.

As the chanting continued, more and more robed men, women and surprisingly a good number of children began flocking to the grassy hill out of other alley ways all connected to this peaceful green space in the heart of the city. The chanting for all intensive purposes seemed to be attracting them. Florian was beginning to have second thoughts as he saw the numbers increasing, feeling as if whatever was happening would be beyond the two's control. Not to mention he felt as if using his sniper rifle was out of the question. Florian was all for shooting creepy extremists, and even women if it was in self defence, but children was too much. He didn't want more dead children on his conscience. He shuddered as painful memories of his marine days flooded into his mind.

The notion of identifying his body with the proper authorities struck a chord with Nikoli, and looked ‘Fortian’over more closely. Hadn’t he shared a near-death experience with this kid before, or was it only his imagination? Then it all came back to him; the destroyed boat and the mess that had come after it. How could he have let that slip his mind? “Yeah, I remember you. Not Fortian…Florian, that’s right! We met on Prank Island, when our boat got blown to bits! Hell, man, if that island didn’t kill me, I’ve got nothing to worry about here. You know that as well as I do.”

But his voice had dropped to a low murmur all the same as they neared the group of folk in white, who had their attention trained almost entirely on their leader. The pirate watched as the woman who had brought in their newest converts led the rest of them in some sort of prayer. Nikoli couldn’t catch all of it, but the snatches and bits he did hear sounded about normal for religious cults of their kind.

“The sins of the past…purified…atonement, not forgiveness…sacrifice.”

One by one, the newest recruits approached the bonfire that roared behind the woman and seemed to be dropping something into the pile. His eyes weren't as good as the others, so Nikoli had no idea what was being burned, but the act had a sacred, ritualistic feel to it. Something was happening, and only the people on the inside would know for sure. “Those guys going up to the bonfire…they used to be pirates, right? What the hell are they doing?”

Other people in white seemed to gravitate towards the group on the grassy hill like ants to a morsel of food, coming in twos and threes from the city streets. It was eerie to watch. As much as Nikoli would have liked to learn the ruckus was all about, he’d stand out like a sore thumb if he approached the Virtue group. He could steal a set of clothes from one of the members, but the mystery wasn’t quite interesting enough for him to take that step. These were weirdos for sure, but they hadn’t done him any harm, and they could do whatever he liked, so like as it didn’t affect him.

He was content to observe, though, and soon the problem of being out of range was a moot one. The leader’s voice rose over the steady hum of the group’s chanting, and her voice carried on the wind.

“We can change this world! Let’s stop hurting each other, robbing each other, hating each other— and make a stand for what’s right! All we need to do is to unite! We can become so much better!”

The crowd sighed in adulation.

Lex had climbed to the top of the roof across from the Virtue group, listening over to them while also listening to the two guys that were right below him, getting each others names. Focusing on these Virtue people before he would introduce himself to the two, trying to find out if that girl was the leader, he knew a lot about leaders having taken quite a few of them out in his time, they always had some goal and wouldn't stop until they were dead. It was the same for Lex he was a leader, if one could call him that of the Suicide Squad, and he knew he would never stop doing what he thought was good, even if his idea of good included killing a lot of bad people.

One of the guy's names was Florian, or at least that's what he heard and couldn't be positive if he heard correctly, the other he failed to hear. "What's your guys names? Mines Lex by the way, Lex Luthor." he was holding his rifle and aiming it towards the group of Virtue people down there, looking while holding that made it easier for him to see down there, just aiming at something with a gun made it easier to see things far away for him.

He watched as more and more people started joining them, they didn't stop coming and for all he knew they could be trying to get the entire island in their cult like group. There was a giant crowd soon enough like there was some concert going on, that's what it looked like, a sea of people in white clothes. All looking similar, no originality, quite creepy especially the children who were dressed like that.

Their talk was starting to get worse, the girl at the top of the stage with a doll in her hands, and a man standing at the front of the stage began talking, taking over for her it seemed. One of them was the leader of the group, at least that was his guess, "Well let's see how this goes, I'm going to shoot the leader, always seems to work for me. Shoot and get the hell out of there..." he said as he aimed his rifle towards the girl, going to shoot the man right after just in case, killing the two to save everyone should be good enough.

Lex put his finger on the trigger aiming towards the girl, pulling the trigger, the gun fired, bullet flying towards her when the man on stage got in the way of the bullet while talking to the crowd, getting shot in the chest and falling to the ground. As he was about to shoot again, the mouth of the doll opened up and fired a giant red laser from it blasting Lex backwards and destroying part of the roof.

The girl yelled out, "Get them!" and then started heading into the trees to get cover, while the large group of people turned around and started going after all those around the roof. Lex looked at the others as he got up, he was hurt from the laser, but fine overall, "Shit, sorry, we should probably get out of here." saying as he heard the people below coming for them.
