Alright, first console Bleach game in the "Soul" series (the Wii one doesn't exist), so did it do good? Yes and no. You see, I will not review this game as I don't review average titles, just very spectacular or very shitty ones. So, I'll break down the good, the bad and the ugly for this game. Let's begin. Good -The characters are well designed, with the cel design making it look like it's just the anime in 3D. -Characters have unique movesets, but share the massive upgrade tree, ensuring that all skills and additions are not hoarded by one character. -The voice acting is very good, with either Japanese or English being worth listening to. Bad -The story is short and barely covers the arc it's supposed to, let alone most of the Bleach storyline. -Characters only have one form despite being in multiple even during the story arcs that the story mode covers. -There's very little to keep someone interested in the game. -There's little in the area of collectables. Ugly -Broken characters Toshiro and Halibel dominate the game even more than the supposed strongest character: Aizen. In fact, many characters have broken moves while others are nerfed to shit like Yoruichi. Some characters being powerful and useful make no fucking sense, like Grimmjow having a better moveset than both Ulquiorra and Nnoitora, who are both stronger than him. -Difficulty curve in Mission Mode is WAAAAAAAY too high, forcing constant grinding for points to purchase upgrades when they instantly become obsolete when you start the next mission. -Grinding for soul points is fucking tedious. Only a few missions actually give out alot of points and are easy to complete, and even then, upgrades start at 200 and can go for as much as 3000, so good luck getting enough from levels that max out at 1300 per play (from my own experience) and having to purchase about 100 upgrades. -The AI cheats constantly, using the tactics of n00b players like spamming and turtling, and even worse is when they get massive strength boosts for no reason. -The game fucking cheats by removing your ability to dash, guard or use the special "Ignition" mode while allowing the enemy to use them in certain missions. Now that that is out of the way, I'd like to show you the actual list that I came up with for the game and how characters place. S: Halibel Reason: Best melee fighter in the game. Attacks have some of the longest ranges and highest damage outputs even on lower ranks. Ignition mode extends spirit attack range to that of an arena, making fighting the computer impossible in small spaces. Normal attack strings hit 360 degrees around her and have range boosts. Ultimate attack is homing and is insta-kill up close. I had full health with Ulquiorra at level 46 and died due to a point-blank Ultimate from Halibel. Toshiro Reason: He's the best aerial and ranged combatant and a close second for melee. His normal ranged attack sends out three projectiles which expand on impact, doing more damage and also stopping any target in its tracks. One of his super moves summons pillars of ice that trap an enemy for a prolonged period of time, allowing Toshiro to pound away at the opponent's health. I was ganged up on by Halibel and Toshiro after he used this move and died in seconds. Hyourinmaru, his aerial spirit attack homes in on a target and repeatedly attacks them even after they try to recover in mid-air. His ultimate attack is also insta-kill unless health is really high. The final bit is that his normal attacks summon an ice wall that can block projectiles. A: FGT Ichigo Reason: This version of Ichigo has brand new attacks with all of them being extra powerful. His replacement for the Getsuga Tensho does massive amounts of damage to both crowds and single targets, killing them within the duration of the technique. More importantly the shitty move that Ichigo used to have as a ground super attack is replaced by a powerful charge move that even makes Aizen's final form a bit nervous. The crown jewel is the Mugetsu Ultimate Attack. Despite losing a massive portion of health, it's worth it. The power this move has is enough to kill an opponent in one attack 99% of the time. The reason this Ichigo isn't an S rank is because his normal attack moveset is still the same as normal Ichigo's, meaning it's nothing special. Aizen Reason: Aizen, though a slow moving character normally, has a great normal string that hits several targets around him. The final strike hits several times, causing massive damage to whatever is standing within the reach of his sword. His spirit attack is pretty standard, but is longer in duration than most. His supers, on the other hand are both useful yet strategic. Kurohitsugi is a very powerful ground super attack that, when caught in, is nigh impossible to escape, but covers a smaller area than many supers. His aerial super creates large energy spheres that attack an opponent after 3 are created. They can be very powerful, but you need to be safely away from your opponent while summoning the orbs. His ultimate, as expected, rapes everything around him. His slow swinging speed for his normal moveset and his need for placement and strategy for his supers ranks him lower than FGT Ichigo. Full Hollow Ichigo Reason: The hollowized Ichigo is a beast. Most of its attacks hit hard and fast, decimating everything infront of it or around it. The spirit attack, however, is pretty poor. It trades multiple hits for a single, powerful attack that can be charged, but it risks missing the target, which it does often. The Supers are split into two groups: with and without a sword. With a sword, it's standard attacks like a single getsuga tensho or a rapid slashing grab move. Without a sword, however, releases a massive pulse of energy around Ichigo, causing massive damage and hitting any targets around him. Its ultimate attack is a powerful cero that, as would be expected, has massive damage output. Also, without a sword, Ichigo can release a powerful forward pulse in his normal string. Due to the bad spirit attack and the pretty "meh" sword supers, FH Ichigo ends up here. Kenpachi Reason: Kenpachi has one of the biggest advantages in the game. While his normal combos are good for setting up spirit attacks and supers, its his spirit attack that gets all the credit. This move has massive coverage, great power and can hit opponents lying on the gound or juggle them in the air at your leisure. The supers are pretty badass, but not powerful or practical. Both either require being too close for comfort or having to combo into it/lead into the attack with a jumping motion. His ultimate attack, like Hollow Ichigo's, has a narrow focus, so it's good for singling out a target and pounding them. Stark Reason: Stark has some of the best range in the game due to his weapon of choice. However, his guns hit in weird formations instead of just shooting forward or in a more sensible method, unless airborne, where his normal string really shines. His spirit attack is a powerful cero, but the problem is that, while moving, you can only fire it in the direction your character is facing. When you try to fire it at an opponent in a different direction, Stark breaks off the direction you were moving in and moves towards the opponent. His super attack sends out wolves made of cero energy that explode on contact with an opponent. While powerful and with a large blast radius per wolf, the move takes time to charge up, exposing Stark to attacks. His ignition mode multiplies the number of wolves, making it a truly deadly attack. His ultimate move fires several beams forward (reminiscient of the HiMat), and is best used at point-blank range. Kyoraku Reason: Kyoraku has a great normal string, but his spirit attack is very lacking. It alters its range based on when you press the triangle button again, making it very unwieldy. Even in Ignition mode, when there are three tornados created, the technique is hard to use effectively. His supers, on the other hand, do great damage and seem to home in on enemies. His Ultimate attack kills enemies around him effectively. B: Grimmjow Reason: Everything about Grimmjow's moveset is good. His normal attacks are good, his aerial attacks are good, his spirit and super attacks are good. Everything is good. The only problem is that the damage is pretty standard for a base level character. Kyoraku was ahead of Grimmjow simply because his normal string, supers and ultimate did far more damage than anything Grimmjow had. Nnoitora Reason: While more powerful than Grimmjow, Nnoitora has a bad aerial attack that only hits once, and his supers are very impractical, both needing to grab an opponent and have a set up to be very effective. However, his normal string and spirit attack combo well, to the point where I got to 400 combos easily, and they hit REALLY hard. His ultimate is another forward hitting attack, but it explodes on impact. Ulquiorra Reason: Ulquiorra has a few problems. Both of his supers are useless, some of the most useless in the game. His normal string is "meh" but with solid range. The reason he's here ahead of Soifon is because his Spirit attack is one of the best in the game, hitting numbers of damage beyond WTF levels, especially when you use the Cero Oscuras which can KO groups of enemies and single, powerful targets alike. It's fast moving and can be useful in keeping enemies at a distance. But, the best part is Ulquiorra's Ultimate attack, Lanza de Relampago, or Lightning Lance is one of the best in the game. It creates a tower of ownage that juggles your helpless opponent in the air, doing constant damage. Better yet, it hits anything near it, sucking it in to the vortex. On top of that, you can shoot at them while they are caught in the attack. This is a boss killer plain and simple. Soifon Reason: Soifon has a fast normal string and great spirit attack, but her ground special is prone to missing despite its power in taking down opponents. Her ultimate is a narrow attack that ends with an explosion. The best way to use her is to juggle enemies in the air due to her long lasting aerial chains. She's down here because she has none of the added benefits that Ulquiorra has in his moveset. C: Ichigo Reason: The benchmark for characters in the game. Ichigo has only one weakness, his ground super sucks. The rest of his moveset is pretty average and versatile. Uryu Reason: First off, his normal attacks suck. His spirit attacks are what players use more often. They have great range and almost a cheap aspect to them. His supers vary depending on which you use and for how long, while his ultimate attack hits a massive area in front of him. Uryu's problem is that he relies on his cheap spirit attack to make up for the shittiest normal string in the game. Gin Reason: While possessing possibly the longest range in the game (sarcasm, he actually does) Gin's super moves are highly prone to missing. His normal string is painfully short and forces "too close for comfort" fighting. However, his ultimate move and spirit attack are good, despite the latter missing on occasion. Rukia Reason: Even more "meh" than Ichigo, attacks have nothing special about them. Byakuya Reason: His normal string is like Kyoraku's spirit attack, his supers have virtually no range and his only saving grace is his ultimate and spirit attack. D: Barragan Reason: He's the slowest character in the game for EVERYTHING. His melee is slow, his spirit attacks are slow and his supers are slow. The only reason he's not E ranked is due to the fact that his attacks are powerful and cause HP drain every time they connect. E: Yoruichi/Kokuto Reson: They're tied due to being different sides of the same coin. Yoruichi's normal string blows while everything else is good, while Kokuto's normal string is good, everything else blows. Even then, the good aspects are still sub-par compared to other fighters.
