ok first off let me say this everything I say here comes completely from memory so details may be off, apart from that its pretty much just what I thought about each show ![]() Ok then let’s begin and what better to begin with the good old MSG or Mobile Suit Gundam. Well MSG starts off like you would expect, explaining the lore of the universe and telling us about this dreadful war that’s been fought and generally why two sides are fighting it out with Giant robots (or will be once the fedies get their act together). We get introduced to our tech freak/ recluse main character Amuro Ray and his rival Char “red comet” Aznable who also wears a strange mask for some reason that is never told in show. Though this series was groundbreaking and established the real robot genre, it still follows several super robot clichés, in that the Gundam is an invincible mecha created by Amuro's father, a scientist and will one day combine with smaller parts. We also learn that despite been the pinnacle of Fedie Tech the Gundam also comes with an extremely easy to use manual…. And from there the plot continued on showing us how evil the Zeon’s are but then showing us the good side of Zeon like the two who help the mother and her kid and Rambal Ral showing us that was is not just good vs bad a big theme in most Gundam shows. We are also shown the ugly side to the federation with them wanting to use the White Base as decoys and another person who was acting as a spy for the Zeons for money. Add in other arcs like Char’s revenge plot and his mysterious relationship with Sayla and things look set to be epic. Then we then get into space and things get strange. First off Char seems to not care about his vendetta with the Zabis any more as he becomes completely obsessed with taking out GUNDAM, throw in a girl (Lalah) and you just knew things were going to turn out badly. On the topic of Lalah we also start finding out more about Newtypes as Amuro becomes one and Zeon begins to send them at him. Then Lalah dies and we’re treated to a techne coloured sequence that doesn’t really make any form of sense at all but she’s a Newtype so who cares. With that out of the way the plot picks back up with Amuro having realized that Char and isn’t the bad guy the Zabi’s are……. Does he not know why the war started or something? Some major battles latter and we come down to the end game. The battle of A Baoa Qu, and what a battle it is Gihren makes his move killing his father(and the main EFSF attack force) and is subsequently shot by his sister who assumes command. With General Revil the last competent EF official also dead the White Base takes command for the final battle with Amuro taking on Char and his new Zeong, which ends badly for Char as he is out piloted then out smarted Amuro(why was the Learning computer never used again?????). Amuro and Char then have a sword fight(don’t they know this is a Giant robot show) while arguing over Lalah and Newtype’s before been interrupted by Salya. Char then gets back on track and goes after the last Zabi…with a Bazooka and Headshots her rather epically. While all this goes on everything explodes the base, the Guntanks, the Whitebase , the mobile suits, everything . All this is held together by smaller sub arcs that range from good (the Across the Atlantic Ocean arc), to bad (the desert bits once Ral bit the bullet) and the downright bizarre (Zeon troops attacking GUNDAM with box explosives then waiting for him to disarm them, White Base needs salt and the deleted episode). All this is supported with a strange cast of characters like M’Quve and his vase, the Black fail stars and the layed back Sleggar law. Meanwhile the characters develop Amuro goes from idiot who needs a punch to fat headed jerk to a respectable Ace, Char goes from typical bad guy, to pursuing his vendetta, then to Chasing Gundam, then back to vendetta to finally to a Newtype idealist. And at the need of it all we get a good end with most of the White Base crew alive and well Amuro gets the girl Salya and looks in good spirits and everyone is happy…..until Zeta Gundam at least and finally a random arbitrary number 8/10 |

Ok next up is Zeta Gundam, ![]() The holy grail of Gundam, or at least that’s what every UC nazi insists on throwing down your throat! Now I could explain the inner workings of this very complex and hard to follow plot, but thankfully I don’t have to! Why? because someone over at Gamefaqs managed to sum it all up for me very nicely, now if you just want to hear my take scroll down till the quote ends
OK STOP from now on its all me and no. I have no idea what all the ARANGER thing is but I think its power rangers or something.... Right now I will just touch on some of the main things, mainly characters. First Kamille unlike Amuro before manages to stay pretty constant though the show (angry), he does develop though, his meetings with Four, while completely random thanks to newtype bonds or whatever, do shape his character much like Lalah did to Amuro in fact its almost copy paste to the point when the viewer pretty much knows how everythings going to turn out 20 episodes in advance hell even the guys in the SHOW know it! Only real difference is while Amuro’s helped him get over his Char fetish, kamilles just made him more angry. We also have Char now under a new name Quattro, though he doesn’t seem to be very good at hiding it at all. Char is one of the few sane characters in this show, but this is also where he starts to lose his piloting skills as more powerful pilots(Newtypes) appear on the scene like his old ex Haman, the clever Scirocco and even Kamille all prove he’s not all he’s cracked up to be any more. Amuro is now scared of piloting mobile suits and even more of Space so we get multiple episodes of him getting shouted at before he snaps out of it( face it when you’re getting out manned by Katz you know your rock bottom). Once he does however he shows he’s hardly lost a beat, and becomes the Amuro we remember from the end of MSG. Amuro is also like Char in that he’s not annoying or insane, something which is rare in this show. Haman, is Char’s ex girlfriend, but we don’t hear anything about that because there’s far more important things to do, like run around the Gwaden for a whole episode. Scirocco probably one of the most interesting new comes, hardly gets any backstory we’re just told he’s EVIL, even though he kills the leader of the Titans who has been the guy behind most of this in the first place >_> We also get to see great professional writing at work as Gates Cappa randomly vanishes, for no reason. Then we get one of the worst final battles in Gundam no Anime history as Kamile uses Ghost power!!! to one shot Scirocco, the guy who has been hyped as the best pilot in the whole conflict, using some random power that had to be explained…wait for it a year latter in some random model kit!!!! By the end of this I really don’t blame Amuro for staying on Earth and Char for disappear to god knows where! But its not over yet oh no with the Titans destroyed, pretty much every AEUG pilot dead or comatose (thank God), Haman makes her Move as the first Neo Zeon movement begins. You thought this cast was strange haha you haven’t seen anything yet…….. ![]() random arbitrary number 6/10 |

Well here we are Gundam ZZ, ![]() now this review is going to be a bit different, see I’m actually rewatching this show now so rather than go of memory like with the others and since I actually LIKE this show a lot, I’m going to do this in small parts as I watch…. I also add in all the random pics at the end ![]() ok so a bit of background ZZ is one of the elite Japan old Gundam shows so it never got a dub. Why? Well first off Japan didn’t OMGFL this show like they did Zeta also the west (read America) didn’t really like MSG or Zeta when they were shown (hence why England never got them even). This was in part because after seen G and Wing, Zeta and MSG looked dated, there was probably other reasons but god only knows. Anyway because of UC’s lukewarm reception in the US Sunrises threw some movies at them then waited for a shiny Gundam show to be released….. ![]() Now ZZ was released in Japan right after Zeta had finished ( as in Zeta finished Monday 22nd of feb ZZ began Monday March 1st) so Zeta never even got reruns. Anyway ZZ is a very polar Gundam most people fall into either the love or hate it group, with very few just liking it. One of the reason for this is because its very different to Zeta in mood. ZZ is a show of to half’s the first is light hearted and a bit goofy while the second half is just as dark and gritty as Zeta ever was (only less depressing). So I better get on with the first part, covering episodes 1-10. ZZ opens in amazing fashion with………………….a clipshow… -__- summing up everything that has happened in MSG and Zeta, throwing up some random mecha specs and finally telling us some details about whats going to happen next episode…. Not the best start in the world in fact it’s the WORSED EVER!!!!!!!!! Ok so episodes 2-10 in these opening episodes we find out just how bad a shape the Argama is in as it limps to the safety of the side 1 Shangri-La Colony the oldest colony in UC or one of them. They now have only one pilot left thanks to Kamille been brain fried, and that pilot is Fa…. Surprisingly she’s not half as annoying as she was in Zeta, but she still can’t pilot a mobile suit to save her life. Meanwhile on the colony we are introduced to Judau our new protagonist and his friends Beecha (the untrustworthy leader) and his sidekick Mondo, the token girl Elle and Ino (that’s a guy btw) who just seems like a nice guy but has no real er stand out quality’s. We also find out that Yazan lives as he is found and saved by Judau. Him and Judau’s group then attempt to steal the Zeta Gundam, with Judau seeming a little reluctant, after attacking the Argama with fruit (no really) Yazan kills … some random guy from the Argama he had a name but this pisses off Judau who then steals the Zeta and goes after Yazan. Now unlike Amuro and Kamile, Judau is not a tech genius, he also does not have a manual, so he has no clue how to pilot the Zeta at all, he slowly gets the hang of it after boosting into several walls, and gives chase… without knowing how to close the cockpit hatch. Though out these early episodes Judau’s inability to really pilot the Zeta is shown, he drops his beam saber it takes him about 3 fights before he can close the cockpit, he is not an instant pilot like the other two. ![]() After dealing with Yazan, the next problem shows up in the colony in the form of a Neo Zeon ship lead by Haman’s number 1 fanboy Mashymre Cello. Mashymre is awesome, he appears to be the rival of the show, with him constantly going up against Judau and swapping Mobile suits regularly. Mashymre is very eccentric as are his crew of inexperienced Zeon soldiers, he is brought to tears on numerous occasions thanks to his men been so loyal, and he generally does not seem to know what he’s doing half the time. Thankfully his 2nd in command does, Mashymre also seems to not been able to have a convocation without having a flash back of Haman saying something to him. He’s ridiculous but entertaining and about 9000X better then Jerid ever was, also I want him in DWG3 and after every one of his quotes he should have a flashback from Haman telling him something. The next bulk of the episodes involve Judau managing to beat back the Neo Zeon attacks while the Argama stage there escape from the colony, while this happens Roux Louka a smart mouthing rookie AEUG pilot shows up to help in a core fighter and after another run in with Yazan they escape. The final few episodes have the Argama trying to find and meet up with the La vie ne Rose while also staying off attacks brought on by Beecha and Mondo who want to sell out the Argama and go back to Shangri-La even though they were some of the first to join…. also the episode ends with the showing of a new core fighter that we don't really see and Fa is stuck floating back to Shangri-La to be with Kamille happy end eh. with the plot pretty much done lets go back to Judau for a bit. He's very different to the other's, he's not interested in the war and has no real hate for the Zeon', he just wants to make money to send his sweet little sis to school awwww sadly for him his little sis would rather have her brother be a solider then a junk collector who skips school, nice sis isn't she. Ive already mentioned Judau is a bad pilot but he gets better and thanks to him generally not fighting with his rifle thanks to on reason or another (I forgot to pick up the ammo pack!!) he comes up with some pretty good strategy's, he also can't pilot the transformed Zeta in anyway zipping around randomly instead while trying to change back and has a problem keeping up with all the different data when he goes out into Space for the first time. Also less then 10 episodes in and Judau is already getting called a Newtype, because Bright sensed it! finally Glemy Toto shows up near the end here but doesn't do much apart from talk about him mother and father then have love at first sight with Roux who seems to like him as well. We also get Chara Soon showing up but she just seems to like teasing Mashymre ![]() Part Duo Ok well wow what can I say things get really heated up in these next 10 episodes, ZZ shows up, Beecha and Mondo defect then rejoin, Lina is captured by Glemy, the Argama gets a new nice shiny cannon, Bright gets hit on;), Puru puru puru~ shows up, Newtype start showing up left and right, Mashymre leaves and is replaced by a psycho girl, Argama attacks axis, Judau meets Haman AND Space Aztecs !!!(I kid you not!). Your probably thinking “what…” so lets go though some of these insane bits; First up is the ZZ shows up and in true Gundam style is a complete monster, it tanks beam shots, cleaves though meteors with its huge beam saber of power and out speeds the Zeon units all in its first battle. Needless to say it scares the crap out of the Zeon guys to the point that there main stratagem becomes “shoot it down before it combines!!”. It’s a blatant attempt at a getter Gundam, with its transformation sequence, 3 jet design and its power I could of sworn it was a super if I didn’t know better. All that’s missing is Judau shouting “Change ZZ!!” before each transformation… did I mention its forehead has a ridiculously powerful cannon that melts even MS that dodge it needless to say Judau gets quite cocky after getting the ZZ. Still it leads to some good scenes like Judau having to force a transformation by ramming his jet into the top half when Chara captures it. Beecha and Mondo defect to Neo Zeon because they don’t like how there been treated, but sometime later they rejoin after they don’t like been in the Zeon military *facepalm*… Glemy decides that in order to gain Roux love he will kid nap her……. But fails at that when he snatches Lina instead… he then tries to teach Lina how to be a proper lady, while she tries to escape at every opportunity. This also makes Judau stop been so cocky and instead focus on getting Lina back. The Argama get’s an upgrade in the form of a new hyper mega particle cannon which is powerful to say the least, meanwhile Emily the captain of the La Vie En Rose begins hitting on Bright, who’s not really sure what to do. He is a married man! We also have Mashymre’s replacement Chara soon. Now we all know how completely mental Tomino can make female characters but Chara is the most bizarre yet, not only is she very eccentric but she also goes into strange fits when inside Mobile Suits. In the middle of all of this is the strangest filler bit ever in a gundam show; the colony of Moon Moon one of the first ever colony’s in space they have been forgotten by most sides, and have reverted to been simply put Space Aztecs. Its strange and pretty bad, but we get to see Bright handle a Spear! Finally Judau snaps and charges into Axis after Lina, after infiltrating Axis, he is met by Puru who jumps on him and is generally clingy, she starts calling Judau brother and wants him to play with her. (Bear in mind there only previous encounter at this point was a short battle where she confused him, Roux and Ellie with her funnels.) his reaction confusion, anyway she takes him to Axis’ captale where he has a run in with Haman, who…let her hair down? Clue Newtype aura, Haman saying Judau feels like Char, followed by Haman pointing a gun at the kid. Thankfully, a MS falls down just outside giving Judau time to run. Puru gets jealous of judau always trying to find Lina and goes Newtype crazy burning out her Psycommu (how did she do this! Is she that strong or was it Judau?). Everything ends with Neo Zeon’s fleet including Haman heading towards, while the Argama is resupplied in Granada, where Judau meets Wong, guy who hit Kamille and is in charge of the AEUG. He tries the same on Judau, who gives him a quick knee to the gut and tell him to get lost. Things are shaping up nicely and in the next set, I guess we head earth side. A quick note but really in these episodes I can already tell that the goofiness of ZZ is starting to wear off, it’s still there but it’s starting to vanish slowly. Part 3 Ok eps 20 -30 are kind of split in two because the first half of the show comes to an end here The first bit brings to a close the Granada arc which began at episode 20 and focuses around a young girl who was one of Tores’ friends at school, a weak willed girl she works as a spy for Zeon in order to get money and flights to a colony away from the war. She however is eventually double-crossed when she is given a bomb rather than money, she then sacrifice herself in one of the most powerful parts of the show so far. This also seems to be affecting Judau as he begins to really see the horrors of war. With that very good side arc over we get back to business and the comedy is gone. The Argama attempts to attack the Neo Zeon fleet and we are introduced to our newest villain Rakan Dahkaran, who is the first Ace to be able to damage the mighty ZZ using his Dom descendant the Dreissen which is pretty cool. Judau also is let onto Hamans ship where they again speak. Haman seems to have taking quite a liking to Judau (did they just nearly kiss!). As she attempts to win him over to her side thankfully she falls and he gets out and makes it clear he wants nothing to do with Neo Zeon or Haman. We then get out token Atmosphere battle as the Argama trys to stop Haman reaching Earth(yay 23 episodes in and were at the first ZZ DWG mission!) this battles quite action packed with Judau taking the Zeta above the ZZ. Beccha and Mondo also finally get motivated about the war after talking to Bright about it and the Hyaku Shiki is back in action under Beccha’s command try not to break it like its last owner did Beccha ;). The battle is very well done with brainwashed Puru battles Judau proving that Judau is about as good as Shinn is with dealing with remote weapons (that is crap). As they land on Earth Puru has now snapped out of the Brain control and is now with the Argama (oh joy). With Zeon on Earth Haman’s forces quickly take the Federation capital of Dakar where it seems the Federation is as useless as ever and seem to be happy to bow to Haman. Meanwhile the Argama has to deal with some locals of Africa that are been used by Zeon. We also see just how spoiled and one track minded Puru can be. I can already tell she is going to be trouble.. The Gundam team (plus there Bike) head off into the desert to get ready to help in the Karaba attack on Dakar. Puru takes a bath in the Mega Rider. Then leaves everyone after Judau goes scouting and Judau and the Team then have to deal with some good old OYW remnants that although outmatched in Tech still put up a good fight making use of the terrain. Leading to a great battle and with that the first half of the show is over. Look it’s the second half we gots a new opening and it sucks (well ok its not that bad but the first is way better. Though this one has a darker tone to it) Again we get more action from the OYW as a woman (presumably the wife of a dead Zeon solider) attacks the Gundam Team (yes this team is official they even call themselves it). Again Puru is self self self as she uses the last of the water to freshen up (pors it over herself) . It’s a shame Roux and Elle didn’t burry her in the sand or strap her to the burning hot Mk2…. MASSIVE SPOILERS FROM NOW (as if this whole review isn’t…) Haman and Mineva get a parade showing that the Feds have no intension to go against Zeon this time around. After scoping the place out the Gundam team begin the attack on Daker perfect time for Judau to go save his sister but Puru gets things under way to soon as she decides to fire to soon because she’s not with Judau. Man this girl is a pain. The battle interrupts a party between the heads of the EF and Neo Zeon and we get to see that Leina is a newtype to as she senses that all the Earth officials are liars and that they don’t support Haman they just don’t have the back bone between them to stand up to her and Zeon. Judau sneaks in and is quickly found by his wannabe lover Haman who as normal has a gun, she says how he’s betrayed her and shoots him in the arm. Leina then shows up to protect her brother but this just angers Haman who is a bit jealous of how close Leina is to Judau(dam it Judau another girl who’s obsessed with you ) She then shoots Leina wounding her….big mistake. Judau gets pissed creating pressure that can be sensed by all the newtypes in the city and reducing Haman to tears. Judau just surpassed Kamille in Newtype power… judau then trys to take Leina to a hospital but is cut off an attacked by Glemy. Then Karaba and the Argama show up and we see good old hayato! But where the fucks Amuro when we bloody need him! Meanwhile Judau crashes but is found by Puru and Mondo. Puru tricks Mondo to go get some first aid for Judau and then takes Leina further into the island alone. The two have a confrontation where Leina says that Puru is cyber-Newtype and Puru shows just how jealous she is of Leina. Thankfully, Judau shows up in time to stop Puru from choking Leina and the three make amends sadly the fight is now happening near the island so Judau has to go leaving Leina in Puru’s care. Judau struggles to form ZZ but once he does he starts owning as normal but then a Roux shoots down a zeon who’s suit falls onto the cabin Leina was in… with the fight ended Judau is pretty sad and angry right now as he looks into the fire finding Leina’s shoe. Puru shows up in tears having went to get a water for Leina’s wound and says she will be Judaus sister to which Judau pushes her away. Even Glemy is sad and leaves with having to be shot down. This part singels a huge turn for Judau and why he’s fighting before he was fighting to save his sister with her now gone, he can fight for revenge. Everyone heads back to the Argama after the attack and Judau is filled with grief sulking inside the core fighter, Roux then trys to tell him to get over it and is rather cold to him and the rest of the team sees it to. Beccha and Mondo give her a hard time over it and she leaves taking the core fighter.. Glemys team then attacks and Roux heads back to help. Judau also gets into the Zeta saying he can’t be sad forever and heads out seeing the destruction of a town by the Zeon he’s now well and truly resolved to fight them. Meanwhile Beccha makes use of Glemys attraction to Roux by using Roux core fighter as shield. She bolts and Glemy is left stranded in the desert. The final for this set is another 2 partier. This one’s about the Blue Team from the African Liberation Front who want to take control back from the Europeans (who they call the French). Rascal tension is something rarely touched on in Gundam so this might be good. We’re also getting to see a lot of Arica in these episodes which is one of the least visited places in Gundam which is another plus to this. Well with all the action and drama we have had here this shows already about 6x’s more interesting then Zeta. Lets hope it keeps up. However at this point I want to kill Puru…… Part 4 Well this the penultimate part of this review guide thing so lets get on with it. First off we have the end to our African Liberation Front arc with Judau and guys looking for Roux and the Core fighter when a battle brakes out. It’s at this point that Judau sees Ethnic cleansing as the African Liberation Front/Neo Zeon alliance begins targeting the town and killing innocent people because they have “forgotten their ancestry and worship white people.” To which he’s disgusted and gets pissed and with some back up from Roux and the ZZ beats back Glemy. The African arc ends with a battle over Salt Lake. Some interesting things happen here, first Glemy reveals his army of Lolita’s(did I get that right?) and begins to really show that he’s plotting against Haman. I have a feeling that it was around this point that Char was originally meant to show up again (since an army of Newtype loli’s sounds like his kinda thing) until Tomino got the go ahead for CCA. Beecha also randomly gets jealous of Judau’s skills again for no reason stealing the ZZ when the fight brakes out (and doing rather badly I might add) thankfully Judau comes to the rescue with the shiny Gundam and saves the day. Funnily no bad Puru antics to annoy us at the end there but she’s already caused enough mayhem and problems anyway. ENTER Dublin ARC!!!! Well the Argama arrives in Dublin next to get Puru checked up on by a Doctor(cause she’s Psyco), meanwhile Bright goes to talk with the Fedi Big Wigs (oh boy) Oh what a surprise there complete morons! They prove just how stupid they are, threatening to decommission the Argama then Judau jumps in ( on the table) and wrecks there lunch then punches the head guy (awesome! But did you notice the armed guards everywhere Judau….) Bright and Judau are then locked up….. but are then broken out by Fau…wait Fau…? Oh yeah Fau’s at Dublin as a Nurse so of course her poor brain dead boy friends here as well. Enter Kamile! Kamiles still as dense as a Super Robots armour though so no piloting for him. Instead he provides Psychic support to Puru and Judau in fights (random thought everyone who he talks to is a Newtype save for Fau so im not even sure if this is Newtype power or Newtype Hax..) . Also Psyco has been given to Glemy and it still has evil ghost powers as it activates when Puru’s (half dead) Mk2 touches it, thankfully Kamille helps here to. While we’re on about Kamile it looks like he’s doing better, he can walk and somewhat talk but he’s still got a spaced out look about him and can only talk to Newtypes and his girlfriend (serous question is Fau a Newtype or is this girl friend hax…) Hayato shows up again and gets to see Katz’s room which was a nice touch, he also gets Psychic convo with Kamile. But enough of this! Haman’s going to Drop a Colony! On Dublin, and the Fedis aren’t going to do anything because they think its good population control (seriously THESE guys are the good guys! I’d side with Neo Zeon over these guys any day of the week!). so its left to the Audhumla and Argama to get as many people as possible out of the city in time . Of course we can’t have that and Rakan shows up again (been sometime) oh buts whats that badass machines he’s got Zaku III now that is a Zaku! Rakan and his men begin taking out the exit roads out of the city and destroying ships leaving the port to make sure the colony takes out as many people as possible. Judau goes to dock but is stopped by Rakan until Hayato shows up in a Dodai Kai and distracts Rakan so Judau can form the ZZ but is shot down and killed by Rakan. Judau and he fight but then the colony hits wiping out Dubiln. In the aftermath of the drop…the colony is still standing…now am I the only one who has expecting the colony to be vaporized in the blast not stick in the ground like a huge tombstone (however fitting that is.). Judau is hit by the energy of all the dead people, then Rakan shows up but is no match for angry Judau who takes him out causing him to flee. The Puru 2 appears on the scene with the Psyco Gundam Mk2 she proves to handle it well since she’s not a complete loon like its last pilot. Puru senses her and takes on in the damaged Qubley (they finally got that thing working?). But sadly the Puru’s seem to know what each other will do and against the Psyco’s reflect bits the Qubley has little chance. Thankfully Judau shows up to save Puru and begins battling the Psyco. The battle is taken inside the remains of the colony but even the ZZ is little use vs the Psyco mk2 with a sane Pilot behind it and Puru 2 really gives Judau a hard time until Puru shows up blocking a shot with the remains of the Qubely and tells Puru 2 that they are the same person. (Well actually she’s your clone not the incarnation of your evil side Puru… what is this anime!?) Puru sacrifices herself but even this is not enough to fell the Psyco (this thing does not die!). Then Puru’s sacrifice causes Judau to go berserk (enter Bio sensor Hax!) Judau goes all Kamille on Puru 2 with glowing ZZ and shining beam saber of power he finally takes down the Psyco but Puru 2 escapes in the head but not before Judau gets a look at her. Well wow with the battle over its now time to go back to space, the group leave the Argama behind on Earth because we’re getting a ship upgrade and having two Argama’s travelling together is such a bad idea duh >_> ….. Anyway the group gets to go around the Nehal Argama (which means “a promise to the Argama” apparently your guess is as good as mine…). Seems the AEUG doesn’t want Judau and his group anymore because they don’t follow orders and want to replace them (bare in mind there basically veterans now) fresh adult recruits (seriously is EVERY official in the Universal Century a moron or something). Judau’s not having that and even Bright doesn’t like it, just then there attacked by Mashymre!!!!!!!! He’s back and sports a new look and a changed personally we will see if he’s anymore competent soon enough. Well he’s not piloting yet letting his new girlfriend (don’t worry he’s still Haman’s number 1 fanboy though) Illia do the fighting in her ReGelg. She fights with Judau and they seem to have Newtype reactions whenever they touch which is interesting, one of these touches destroys Mashymre’s rose, which he’s not happy about. The final bit of this episode has Judau looking to Earth saying he can feel Leina we then go Earth side to see Leina with… Sayla wait what?????? I mean I’m all for happy ends but this is just random beyond random….. Ah yes and Judau and his gang commandeer the new Argama with Brights blessing. So we now have Beecha as captain not that anyone really takes him seriously….. the Argama is attacked by ZZ’s token triple team the 3-D’s who prove to be pretty good getting the better of Judau and Beecha, until Judau begins to hear Leina’s voice which helps them to win. Judau’s Newtype powers are really beginning to increase here, but with all the talk of Leina been alive the crew just think he’s crazy lol. The final two episodes are nice and simple Argama picks up civilian ship from danger, turns out to be a trap Argama now has an incognito Haman on board, then they pick up another ship which had people from Moon Moon on board. Beecha still has a long way to go as captain but Tores is making do, and Mondo also gets a bit character development. Then we head to some random colony which I don’t really care for which is run by a fat perverted man(Stampa), who wants to make all the girls on the Argama (including Haman) part of his Harem. Judau goes in drag to bust the girls out, steals a Z’gok starts fighting before talking with Haman. Haman seems to almost get thought to Judau before Stampa’s men interfere. Well save for the last two episodes everything was AAA stuff the battle around the colony Drop was amazing, Puru redeemed herself, Lenia’s been alive is both good in that I like happy ending but it still seems crop outish since it was such a good death, Mashymre is back and looking all evil now and Puru 2 has shown up, well only one way now to the finale! The grand finale Well this is the last bit of this long ass review (yay) Ok then first this stupid random colony arc wastes another episode. Theres a few things that happen here Haman gets another chat with Judau, again she seems to nearly get though to him but then is stopped by that meddling fat man Stampa. The most pivtal point of this whole arc then happenes when Rasara is killed by….. wait what did she get killed by? Maybe I missed something here and one of those rocks bounced off her head but I never saw anything hit her. Maybe she just got zapped by Tomino cause he was having a bad day and felt like killing a woman…. This all serves to give Mondo some character development and would off been good if it was anyone else that had killed her but since it was Stampa in a Z’gok its kinda crap. With that waste of time over we move back to the war, as the Gundam Team try to infiltrate Core 3, Chara turns up again and like Mashymre she has been turned into a Cyber Newtype. However, unlike Mashymre who became an awesome evil guy, Chara has (in true UC female style) gained a split personality and become crazy since she flip flops between them when Judau is around. We also see Puru 2 show some of her good side and see her Qubely that lasts all of 2 episodes (and 1 fight). On the other side of the Mecha scale, we see Chara’s newest MS the Geymalk which is for all intents and purposes a small Psyco Gundam with Bits and Funnels. The Gelmys rebellion finally gets underway, Haman isn’t surprised but says that her senses are blocked by Judaus presence. With the Qubely dead Puru 2 upgrades to the Psyco Qubely (Queen Mansa) and she uses it to attack the Argama during which Emily is killed along with the La Vie en Rose been destroyed. Judau attempts to kidnap Mineva who seems quite happy to leave Haman. But Haman stops Judau. We then have the main battle and its quite fierce with Rakan taking command of the new Dooben Wolfs which are pretty cool. Mashymre finally sorties again in his custom Zaku 3 and owns Puru 2 with ease; Mashymre seems to be by far one of the most powerful Newtypes shown. In fact Tomino even sees that he made Mashymre to strong so decides to let him randomly blow himself up with the Newtype version of Final Explosion(Haman Sama!!! BANZAI!!!!) and it proves to be just as effective as Vegates in that it takes out NO ONE. ![]() It’s at this point that Tomino forgets about Illia and she does a Gates Cappa and vanishes forever…. Gelmys army of Newtype Loli’s appear piloting the MP Qubelys as the fight goes on. The ZZ finally getting its upgrade, which amounts to extra missile launches and Beam reflective armour. Oh wait that last one might come in handy! Even if it can only block weaker shots. Meanwhile Gelmy tries to ram Mossia into Core 3 but misses so he then decides to ram Axis into it! Well if at first you don’t succeed I guess. Meanwhile Judau takes on Rakan in his new Full Armour ZZ, and thanks to the beam armour Judau is able to completely run over Rakan with ease. They then head into Axis to stop it, here Puru 2 and Glemy both begin piloting the Queen Manta with Puru slowly getting though to Puru 2. The Mk 2 and Zeta are to have their final fight as they go up against the Queen and are taken out but Judau shows up just in time. Even the ZZ can’t seem to get close to the Queen though but thanks to his Armour he can tank the beam hits and gets close enough to persuade Puru 2 to his side. Roux then snipes Glemy with the Zeta, and he says he can be happy dying by her hand, while she says she will never forget that he loved her. A fitting end for him and much better than having Judau do it imo. It also shows that Roux did like(dare I say Love) Glemy. Axis then hits into Core 3 causing huge damage to the colony. With Glemy dead and both Zeon sides in taters Haman and Judau prepare for their final battle. Elle finally chooses Beecha and gives up on Judau, Beecha meanwhile shows some maturity in his words to Elle and Judua’s final launch sequence is very epic with everyone there. Before the battle begins, Chara has her final battle as she tries to distract the MP Qubelys from Haman and Judau. Chara does her best then slams into one of them and blows up for one reason or another. Back with the fight Haman and Judau continue like any good gundam final talking about what they think of the world and so on. The fight itself is good Judau can keep up with Haman fine which shows he how good he’s got, he loses the armour of the ZZ at one point. There is a few Newtype WTF moments in this fight, Judau uses the Biosenor Ghost hax’s to freeze Haman while he recreates the ZZ (but does not attack her when she’s frozen). Haman meanwhile also gets her own little bit when her Newtype aura lets her tank the Hi mega cannon head on! (the Qubely is damaged but not much) at the end the Qubely is cut in two by Judau, who asks why she was holding back and she says it was because it was a duel before killing herself happy that she had got to meet Judau. Judau meanwhile tried to save Haman and genuinely wanted to save her at the end after seeing that she did have good inside her. Well with the battle, won the AEUG fleet finally shows up Judau isn’t impressed at all and gives Bright a Judau punch. The Mineva that everybody has been talking about ends up been a fake with Bright thinking that the real one had been swapped out before the Neo Zeon war began. Finally, Judau and Roux decide to head to Jupiter (so they can come in and spoil the next war I’d imagine) Judau is reunited with Leina again I like that it was a happy end but she died. Overall I really liked this show, it’s not perfect and I could of done without the Moon Moon stuff but all the rest was really quite good, not to many horrible characters and some good plot twists. Even with this second watch it’s still one of the best Gundam shows imo and a vast improvement of Zeta. 8/10. Oh yeah one more thing if there’s anything I can say from watching this it’s that DWG2 got every character wrong. next up is CCA Edited by Black Golem, Aug 3 2010, 10:36 AM.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (Char's Mid life crisis )![]() Ok I promise not to do that again unless you want me to…. You don’t? good. Anyway lets move on to my next review Char’s mid-Life crisis! I mean Counter Attack….Well its pretty obvious what was going though Tomino’s mind when he made this. AMURO VS CHAR!!! epic battle!! And that’s about it. Simply put this takes all of Char’s development he made in Zeta throws it out the window just so we can see AMURO VS CHAR!!! battle it out because Char flipped. Characters Amuro. Amuro went from Child solider who doesn’t want to fight, to thinking he’s god because of Gundam, to good soldier, to been afraid of war in Zeta, getting over it, to been afraid of Space and then getting over it in ZZ. So whats he like now? Well he has dreams about a girl turning into a swan (or was it the other way around?). and is now preaching about “ THE HUMAN HEART!” Could they have come up with a worse line? Really? I don’t have a lot to say about Amuro he’s at his most blandest here and seems like he’s MSG Amuro that failed to develop into Zeta Amuro. Oh yeah he’s on his 3rd Girlfriend in as many series, naturally he does not stay with her to the end. Char. Char has once again changed his name now he’s Casval or something but everyone still calls him Char. With his name change he also feels that he has to fulfil his father’s wishes of Newtype utopia by dropping a colony onto Earth….. yeah… he obviously lost all his development in Zeta after been schooled by his ex-girlfriend. He’s also randomly bring up Lalah again for no reason other than it’s the only thing that he’s got against Amuro. I mean she could have been his mother!? What?? He also talks to himself like a stereotypical villain. Basically he’s went back to MSG pre- final episode Char. ![]() The rest of the good guys include old and useless characters. Returning we have Bright, Bright is Bright nuff said; we also have Astonaige who has a new girlfriend call Kayra. They both die, Astonaige dies randomly and Kayra dies from a mistake from Amuro (putting Funnels on a Gundam) but its hard to feel for her cause she has talked about 4 times in the whole movie. We also Chan Amuro’s latest Girl who is pointless(what was wrong with Beltorchika?) and dies pointlessly by our next character Bright’s son Katz mk2 Hathaway who is even worse then Katz! What’s more this waste of space LIVES!! The bad guys are no better, Char has a girlfriend Nanai, Im not even sure what the point of her is but whatever. We also have one of the only ACE pilots that are crap enough to be shot down by a ships weapons Rezin who comes of as a attempt at a female Yazan only she fails. The token cyber_newtype Gyunei who is obsessed over one of THE most annoying character EVER to grace anime Quess. If "Earth's gravity" makes people greedy and arrogant, "space" infects stupid background characters with first sight obsession (not love, absolutely not) >_>. Quess herself is just crap in ever sense of the word. ![]() Then there’s the “WHERE ARE YOU” characters; why is Sayla not here surely if there’s ANYONE who should be with him in his mid life crisis it should be Char’s dam sister, but no she randomly goes away despite what she had said about having to deal with Char herself in ZZ’s end. Also Kamille, he’s had 5 years to recover he’s blatantly healed by now, but no he doesn’t show up cause he could of got in the way of AMURO VS CHAR!!! Personally having Kamille vs Char would have been FAR better and far more interesting since we wouldn’t need Char to be bringing up Lalah for god knows why! Judua is at Jupter so he can wipe the floor with everyone, but where is the Nahel Argama and its Hyper MPC that thing could of helped take out Axis! ![]() Overall good characters are missing, Bright is the only good character with Amuro passable, Char’s been raped and the rest exist to annoy the viewer then die, or not in the case of Hathaway. Mecha and Techs On the tech side EF has finally ditching the bootleg Gundams and now have the new sexy Jagen’s, we also have the Re-GZ which is cool, then we have the Nu.. Now after the Zeta and the ZZ I was expecting something epic for the next big Gundam, instead we get the RX-78-2 with Funnels strapped to its back. And missing some weapons oh but it’s shield has a missile launcher! Bottom line boring. Neo Zeon has ditched all its cool machines made at Axis and now have Zaku II Mk2’s, the Jagd Doga which is a cool design if we’re talking Gyunei’s model Quess’s lack of a antenna and colours kill it. We also have the Alpha which looks more like a Gundam add-on then a MA and the best design of the show the Sazabi shame its crap compared to the Gundam with Funnels. We also have the latest in Newtype Hax the psycoframe. I mean at least I get why the Biosensor was Hax but this is just magic… Plot Char is angry that Amuro killed Lalah, so decides he will kill him. To do this he creates an army devises a plan to drop Axis onto Earth (so Amuro will fight him) then goes and gives Amuro (who he knows is the stronger Newtype) the latest in Newtype hax for use in a Nu Gundam. So it will be an even fight. Haha yeah keep telling yourself that Char. Useless characters appear to annoy people and then the final battle starts, characters no one cares about die for stupid reasons, Hathaway cements his place as most annoying male in Gundam by killing Chan, Quess annoys people then dies and AMURO VS CHAR!!! Which ends with the Nu losing its Funnels and rifle while the Sazabi is reduced to its escape capsule in one of the most thorough ownings ever. Amuro then tries to push half of Axis out of orbit cause he thinks GUNDAM is GOD but is saved thanks to his latest Girlfriend dying and causing psycoframe hax to kick in and do something (hopefully kill him and Char) and push the half of Axis away from Earth. It’s a joke im not even sure how you could improve it without involving brainwashing and aliens. The shows great if you watch it after MSG but before Zeta cause you can’t see how screwed up Char is. This whole movie looks like it was made simply for the one battle, but the fight itself is so one-sided it doesn’t hold a candle to the truly great battles of Gundam like Heero V Zechs, Kira V Rau, Loran V Gym. Its just complete and total crap. Im depressed now after writing this so I’ll stop, I want to like this, I liked the rivalry in MSG these two have but there past it. This was not needed in anyway and just screwed it all up. But at least it only wasted 124 minutes of my life 6/10 |

Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket![]() Okay now for my next review, this time I will be reviewing Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 war in the pocket. This is a short OAV which takes place in the last months of the one-year war. Unlike most of the gundam shows the main character is not a pilot but instead a civilian child named Al. This is also the first Gundam Show not made by Tomnio so we can expect, no new types, sane women and maybe side characters that don’t die pointlessly. Character’s First we have our new main character Al, he is a young boy fascinated by war specifically Zeon. There’s not a lot to Al a young boy who is caught in the middle of the war he has friends on both sides in the form of Bernie and Christina. All the development he has is he goes from a young boy who thinks that war is cool to seeing the true horror of it. He also becoming less annoying as the series goes on which has to count for something right? On the Zeon side of things we have Bernie who is a fresh pilot assigned to the Cyclops team and is shot down in his very first sortie. Bernie helps to show a nicer side to Zeon that we’ve had hinted on before in the original MSG. Bernie himself is quite interesting and good natured, though his piloting skills are sub par at best, he is one of the only characters to manage to bring down a Gundam with a Zaku using quite a good strategy. We also have the rest of the Cyclops team who are veteran pilots working for Zeon, they are made up of lieutenant S Steiner, the typical ramble ral style figure who knows that his mission is doomed to fail from the start but chooses to continued to carry out the mission regardless because he is a soldier. The other members aren’t really memorable apart from Mikhail a big Russian who drinks a lot both on and off the battlefield. The final member of Zeon is Col killing a Ghirin style commander who wants the operation of the Cyclops to fail from the start so he can nuke the colony. I don’t quite get why he needs to wait for them to fail Zeon have already gassed colonies and dropped colonies I can see why Nuking one would be so different. The Earth Federation’s side doesn’t feature too many characters (we don't even know ANYTHING about the Gray Phantoms pilots -__-) the only one of worth is Christina the test pilot for the new Gundam and she is also a friend of Al’s but keeps her position as a federation pilot secret from him and his new friend Bernie who she seems to be attracted to. Christina doesn’t receive as much development as Bernie does throughout the series but it’s enough to really sympathize her a position latter on. Overall most characters are well done in this adds to the ending quite a bit to the end in fact the characters are so easy to like, it saddening when they die. Other Gundam have lots of characters die and it means little, this show has one die and it means everything, now that is how you do it. Mecha and tech On the Federation side of things we are on a few basic designs we have some brand-new GM units which are more or less normal GM, boring, basic stuff though they have tried to make them a bit like the Jegens but there still nothing special. We also have the mass production guncannon which looks a hell of a lot better than the guncannon from MSG. Of course we have our Gundam itself the Gundam Alex. The Gundam Alex is a pretty decent design by itself since its still the one year war im not exactly expecting the Zeta but the Alex still managers to look nice, at the same time we got some cool features to it, it’s the first MS with a 360° cockpit and also makes use of magnetic core joints since its intended for Amuro. The more standout features to the Alex however are the machine cannons is located in the forearms and the addition of a full auroras system for additional defense. Its pretty cool machine, just a shame it never showed up for Amuro to use. Zeon meanwhile come in introducing a few redesigns of some of Zeons best machines, the Zaku 2, Rick Dom, Gelgoog and Z’Gok as well as the cool Hygogg well all of these redesigns are about three times better than the originals may be more in some cases but the real standout one to me would be the new Gelgoog Jaguar. The bright new unit is the Kampfer which looks awesome by itself and was armed to the teeth with shotguns and bazooka’s. Overall the mobile suits look very nice and since the animation is very top-notch than really not a lot you can pick apart though the GM are still the most boring things in the world there slightly less here. The story The story itself is pretty good as follows the Cyclops team on their mission to attempt to destroy the prototype Gundam Alex however there stopped both by the Federation literally and by their own superiors who seem to want them to fail so they can nuke the colony. Most of the six episodes are spent however on character development for Bernie and a better Chris which I like. When the action starts though its serious with the actual fights that take place been very brutal and quite enjoyable to watch. There’s no new types in this so the whole story seems all the more believable with the absence of Ghosts than the rest of the UC Gundam franchise and frankly in only 6 episodes long its hard to find stuff to hate without being extremely picky. But if you’re expecting a typical run of the mill action packed mecha show you might want to look elsewhere this isn’t about the action and is much more focused on the characters that can be boring for some people but I found it a nice change of pace. Overall the story is good, there’s few annoying characters but for the most part the characters are really well done, and seem a bit more human then most, the mecha is good and the animation is nice, I think this is a solid OAV, but I will say that if it had been longer it might of spoilt it, but since they knew when to stop I will award this 8/10 a nice breather from the serous action and pseudo politics of Gundam, and well worth a watch ![]() Edited by Black Golem, Aug 11 2010, 03:21 PM.

Mobile Suit Gundam: 0083 Stardust memory![]() More like I have no memory, I’m going to be blunt here and say I can’t remember a whole lot from this show, as most of the characters never really stuck with me. So forgive inaccuracies here… With that said SM is a 13 episode series that aired about 2 years after WitP and 3 years since CCA. This series sought to bridge the gap between the OYW and the Grips conflict explain how the tyrannical Titans came about. Again no Newtypes here, some annoying females and some crazy tech, sounds good! Character’s Our main character is Kou Uraki a MS test pilot how becomes the pilot of the first Gundam built since the OYW. Well since he was a test pilot he can pilot a Mobile Suit even so he’s not great from the get go, but he improves greatly though out the show. However this isn’t his problem, his problem is he’s really not that interesting, I mean his romance with Nina is probably one of the better Gundam romances (easily one of the best in UC) but other than that and his rivalry with any other pilot that comes around. He’s pretty shy and uninteresting. The rest of the crew of the Albion are pretty standard fair, we have the best friend who can’t pilot that well but learns fast Ensign Chuck Keith, the captain of the ship Eiphar Synapse, who as any good captain does, knows when to stop listening to the top brass and to take action. We also have South Burning an old EF Ace pilot who trains Kou and kinda acts as a father figure, plus his 3 men, only one really worth mentioning is Bernard Monsha, who dislikes Kou for been picked as the pilot of Gundam, and is a right ass at the start, thankfully he gets better. We also have Nina Purpleton who aside from having a terrible name, is a bit strange she starts off being very over protective of “her” Gundam and doesn’t trust Kou to pilot it (well who would.. shouldn’t someone like South be piloting this thing?). she then gets involved with Kou (but only after he’s mucked up for about the 30th time mind you), then right at the end it all just becomes a clichéd mess with the whole Kou/Nina/Gato bit. On the Zeon side of things we have Gato (The Nightmare of Solomon), who is basically a blind follower of Zeon. Not a lot more to this guy save for “Sieg Zeon!” all that, even at the end with Nina, he seems to not give a dam. Delaz head of the amply Delaz fleet who are just a bunch of Zeon remnants that got a hold of a few space ships, we don’t get a whole lot from this guy, the only notable thing for this guy is his devotion to Ghiran Zabi. We also have Cima who defects right at the end because…. Wait why did she defect? I don’t even think was touched on… Moving on we also have some Zeta cameos here, we get to see Haman (yay!) for like 10 secs as Axis come to drop of (for god only knows the reason) there newest MA, then they leave, to not screw up canon. We also see Bask Om and Jamitov Hymem before they gain power by becoming Titans and it looks like Bask cares about his men about as much as he did in Zeta which is, he doesn’t. Mecha and Techs Tech wise this is insane, we have 3 Gundams here, the first is a glorified RX-78-2, which gets a backpack of thrusters when we move to space (looks pretty cool though), the 2nd one is a TANK and it has Atomic Bazooka, I’m not keen on the head though :/. The third which will go on to inspire the METORS of the C.E. is just awesome, not only is it armed to the TEETH but its better than half the stuff that appear in Zeta stat wise! Not that it matters since everything is erased from the records at the end. Everything else on the EF side it standard fair, GM’s that are starting to look alright and the GM cannon II which is just fat. Zeon meanwhile have the Xemel which is a Dom fused with a huge Gun turret, new Gelgoogs that as always look sweet, we also have some new Dom and Zaku designs. We have the Dra-c does this even count as an MS… the Val Vero which I continue to be unimpressed with, the Gundam reject turned Zeon unit Gerbera Tetra which looks good and the Neue Ziel which looks badass in motion. The units are great as is the animation. Plot Ok then as I said this show explains how the Titans came to be. And it basically goes like this *deep breath* It all starts with something that ever Gundam show should have a Gundamjack! (ok so the last two didn’t but one was a movie and the other was hardly a normal Gundam show)anyway Naturally he steals Unit two and its Nuke, Kou the hapless hero jumps into the other Gundam hopping to defeat Gato , but naturally fails. The Albon then chases Gato across Earth until he escapes into Space, there h begins shouting out Zeon propaganda and doing other things terrorist groups do. So naturally the EF decide to show their strength by putting all their ships together for a Navel Review, Gato then fly’s in lols and fires his Nuke into the middle scoring a MUTI-KILL!!! Unit 1 and 2 are trashed in battle, South dies in the most clichéd way ever … finally the Zeon terrorists do what every Gundam show loves, attempts to drop a colony onto Earth, finally we see our good old EF as they simply don’t seem to care about the drop. At this time the whole love triangle gets thrown in, and we’re off again with Kou and the Albon stealing unit 3 and use it to try and stop the drop, meanwhile Jamitov and his supporters start to make sure the Colony drop will work. Meanwhile Gato prevents the EF’s only line of defence the Solar System 2 from working. Gato directs the colony to hit the US and is then held at gunpoint by Nina, Kou shows up and Nina points the gun at Kou and helps Gato to escape, Gato then punches her knocking her out and handing her to his men before having the final battle with Kou. Bask fires the remains of the Solar system taking out most of the Zeon and EF fleet plus Kou and Gato. The colony his the US and Gato BANZEI’s into a ship everything is done. In the end Jamitov gains the backing and creates the Titans, Bask joins as do everyone from the Albon more or less, Eiphar Synapse is executed for disobeying orders while Kou is court-marshalled and sentenced to one year of hard labour. But then a group in the Federation erases all info on Stardust and the Gundam development project and Kou is set free and returns to test piloting duty in the United States at the Oakley Base. In his new work, Kou is reunited with Nina, Mora and Keith. Though I can’t see him getting back with Nina after that little stunt. Overall its quite action packed, has some clichés that hurt it a bit, the mechs are nice and it has one of the best romances in Gundam (until the pointless love triangle shows up at least) I just wish Kou was a bit more interesting. The Shows overall good, but I personally don’t find it very memorable since I’m a more character focused guy. 7.5/10 as if this means anything… |

Mobile Suit Gundam F91 ok Gundam F91, was originally made to be a relaunch of Gundam without the baggage of the OYW and the rest of the stuff. So new start, Set 30 years after CCA it features a new main character as well as a new enemy that does not have a Z in their name and is not connected to Zeon at all. Sounds good, unfortunately F91 ran into problems when production problems when Tomino and the rest of the staff couldn’t decide how things were going with the story and in the end they only managed to make 13 episodes which they condensed down into a movie of us. Joy. Lets see how it ended ![]() Character’s Ok lets be frank and fair here this was meant to be a full 50 episode show featuring brand new characters and sides. There only so much you can put into a 115 minute movie, but I think they do a good enough job myself. The main character is Seabook, who is typical Gundam main forced to pilot the Gundam that was coincidentally designed in part by his estranged mother. And of course he’s naturally gifted to pilot the thing, so no manual need here. HOWEVER, could we really afford to have him stubble around trying to find out how to pilot the thing? My answer no. so he gets excused for having insta pilot skills because of time. He also is a Newtype so that helps as well. Overall he comes actross as a Amuro/Kamille fusion, taking the better bits from both and fusing them into one pretty good character. You have to wonder if he had got his full series would he have ended up topping both. We also have his girlfriend Cecily who is the daughter of the Crossbone Vanguard’s figure head. She comes across as a strong willed woman, who doesn’t agree with the whole Cosmo Babylonia deal and so joins Seabook eventually. There’s a few side characters on the Crossbone Vanguards side but there not really fleshed out the only one of note is the main guy (I Am) Iron Mask. Who is Guindam’s answer to Darth Vader, he’s a powerful Newtype (I’m sure if he tried he could do a force choke) and is overall a pretty good bad guy for the time he gets. Oh yeah he’s Cecily’s dad too… Most the other character either die to develop Seabook (or just for the hell of it) or are left with so many questions its not even funny. Mecha and Techs ok well its 30 years after CCA so naturally we have new better mech… well kinda you see the EF have decided that armour not important! And so have began making smaller MS’s and increasing the speed of the MS, to really get a feel for this the Nu 23 meters tall while its new shiny high-tech brother F91 is only 15.2 meters tall. We also now have Beam shields and a whole host of other tech. On to the MS, now the EF have pretty much just kept the Jagen, yes they are using 30 year old machines that have had slight teaks, and while they were good during CCA, there now total trash. They still look pretty cool though. We also see a few of the Small MS’s in the case of the antique Guntank R-44 which is well, it better then the first Guntank. But they do have 1 Mass production Mini MS and thats the Heavygun, I’m not a fan of this guy. He looks like a police robot with ears ugh. We also have the F-71 G-cannon which is a bit better. Thankfully the EF do have one trump card, the F91 Gundam! No its not a racing car. The F91 is one of the more unique Gundams with some cool tech, but just look at it its awesome, and when the Bio-computer kicks in and it starts throwing up afterimages.. wow. I hate this show for never getting a full series so I could see this thing kicking even more ass. Oh yeah tech wise it has beam guns that can cut though Beam shields and its got the proto-Zero system the Bio-Computer, which is another way of explaining how Seabook is an instant ace. The Crossbone units are annoyingly named, so much so that I have a better job remembering all the units from Victory then I will remembering the first Crossbone unit’s name. Apart from terrible naming, they have a very Nazi feeling to them, even more so then the Zaku did. The two Berga units do look cool though and using huge Lances gain them some points in my book. Rafflesia Iron Masks personal MA is very cool and deadly, been controlled by a neo-psycommu system letting him control the whole unit with out even touching the control’s, plus an anti-beam barrier system which absorbs/deflects all incoming beam weapon attacks added to its huge weaponry makes it a monster to fight. I also quite like how they went for a MA to be the final boss over the normal MS. ![]() Goal!!! Plot Well its not bad, the plot revolves around the Crossbone Vangaurd taking over the Frontier IV colony and walking over the EF as any good force does. Cecily goes with the Crossbone and meets her family and pretty much says she hates all of them. Seabook gets his Gundam and takes out 2 MS on his first run, he then trys to save Cecily but she doesn’t want to be saved. Seabook gets the genius idea to try and Snipe Iron mask, but the bullet bounces off his mask… a random girl from Crossbone swaps sides and is then killed, Seabook duels Cecily, and she joins him (wow, she didn’t die). Iron Mask uses his Bug (small anti people machines that are used to kill everyone in a colony without damaging the colony itself). Enter big battle the Bug’s are stopped and Iron Mask takes out the Rafflesia and owns Cecily, then he fights Seabook in one of the more impressive battles, with one of the cooler ends as well. overall its good and bad, on one side it just had so much potential that’s wasted, Seabook was a pretty good character, iron Mask was a good villain, but its let down with having to cram so much plot in and the character development suffers to the point it seems people are been killed just to develop Seabook quicker. And of course the ends not finished at all since the Crossbone Vangaurd still take over Frontier I, and to find out what happened next you have to read the sequel Crossbone Gundam Manga which is a shame. Ultimately it can only be so good been a movie of new characters and so I give it 7/10 it could have been so much more but as they say coulda woulda shoulda ![]() Now go find/buy/steal the Manga!!! Mobile Suit Victory Gundam![]() Well better get back to this and next up is Victory. Victory is Tomino’s next Gundam series that aired 2 years after the problems with F91, however Victory too had its share of troubles, in this Tomino was at this most depressed state ever and Victory is largely considered the zenith of his Kill’em all tendency(with most of the deaths doing to the woman off the show). Victory also had some production problems, Sunrise wanted the Victory Gundam to appear in the first episode, but Tomino had written it so it didn’t show up till about Episode 7 (random number that is, I know its in the first 10 or so episodes and I’m not inclined to do look :P). End result? Tomino shuffles around the episodes and has all the previous episodes appear in a badly done flash back. Also to add is that apparently Tomino didn’t get the animation budget he need, and that’s why most of the Victory units aren’t as colourful. Anyway with all that said and done, how did it turn out? Well… Character Does Victory hit the ground running?.... no it fall flat here, you have Uso, then everyone else is either bad fucking insane, Quess level annoying or die (80% of the time in their first episode). Uso stands out as the youngest Gundam Main at only 11 years old, but he’s been trained by his mam and dad (top soldiers in the EF) since he could hold a knife. (he also had I believe Mobile Suit simulators below his house) and to top everything off he’s a Newtype Prodigy, well dam. But Uso has the least hax off any Newtype character in Gundam, having no Newtype equipment to help him at all. He’s like Amuro was in MSG, just a dam good pilot and considering what he pilots and how, he might be the best. Uso is also different from Gundam main in that he… gets on with it, despite at least 1 person dying every other episode (most of which are on his side, normally people he had just made friends with) he just gets on with the war with out to much melodrama. Example? His mam’s head lands in his arm’s after she is decapitated right in front of him… he gets a blank look of shock and crys and then episode ends, next episode, he's pertoling in a Mobile Suit ( a bit pissed off like but you blame him?) . Maybe he’s completely fucked in the head at this point but it’s kinda good to see a Gundam main, that spends hardly any time doubting himself and grieving. ![]() guess whats in that helmet Ok with Uso gone who do we have? Well on the League Militaire side, we have Marbet Fingerhut, how is the mother figure and is not bad a character. then we have Shakti, Uso’s childhood friend , who along with her annoying Newtype baby,(not latterly her baby, just one she carrys around though THE WHOLE DAM SHOW), who is without a doubt by far THE MOST ANNOYING CHARACTER EVER CONCEIVED!!! She is the lost daughter of the Zanscare Empire’s figure head, once she finds this out, she trys to talk with her family, cue kidnapping and Uso need to rescues her. Ok find, 2 episodes latter, she goes back, gets kidnapped and guess Uso need to rescues her again. This happens at least 3 times in the dam show, but if that doesn’t convince you that’s she’s an annoying waste of space, go watch victory. Finally the last characters of note on the LM’s side are the all female mobile suit team the Shrike Team, who exist to die, that’s about all they do. Ok now for the bad guys the Zanscare Empire, there largely a bunch of over the top goofs frankly, but theres a few that stand out. There’s Chronicle Asher the worsted Char clone ever, who’s not even relevant for most the show, and when he comes back in for his big final with Uso, ends up not been that big a deal and just a warm up for his underling the real threat of the show. ![]() fail char is fail Fuala Griffon is next, she starts as a typical enemy commander, then gets turned into a cyber newtype and goes from pretty crappy to pretty cool, but she’s still completely insane. The final person I will mention is the final boss and main rival of the show Katejina Loos, who again is bat fucking insane. She might be the best-developed character in the whole show however, starting off on the LM’s side, she disapproves of them using Uso as a Pilot, because of his age, and the effects it will have on him. This causes her to side with Zanscare, because of her becoming attracted to the Char failure and agreeing with Zanscares ideals of a woman ruling the world. She quickly becomes an ace pilot, and begins to grow more attached to Chronicle and more infuriated with Uso getting in her way. This plus Uso at first been in love with her, then getting over her dives her over the edge and she becomes a fierce insane cyber Newtype with a powerful Mobile Suit and the skills to back them up. End result lots of deaths. oh and finally ![]() yes thats a zanscare solider "interrogating" Uso >_># Mecha and Techs Well as I said most of Victory’s suits have the most boring colour schemes imaginable but appear from that, theres some interesting tech. this is the first and only UC show that has the Mobile Suits able to have proper aerial battles, thanks to the Beam rotors (not the most practical but if it works) and the Minovsky flight systems. Victory was also made in 3 parts, top fighter, core fighter and bottom fighter, the core fighter could be docked with the top or bottom to increase its power, and it was this multi part unit that Uso first came up with the strategy of throwing parts(mainly his legs) at enemies, then getting a new one from allies. Victory also intro’ed the Wings of Light one of the most broken weapons in Gundam, not only does this make the V2 the fastest Mobile Suit in Gundam (baring Turn teleporting) but also acts as a shield that can stretch longer then 120 kilometers, tank beam cannon shots, but can also disable Mobile Suits that fly between them. Meanwhile Zanscare come up with some interesting techs of there own, beam string’s to catch enemy MS, Bike Shaped Land battleships, a hamster wheel for MS to drive. It all gets a bit strang, when you consider these are some of the most advanced Mobile Suits in Gundam. Another bit of cool tech is the back that battle ships how have a Beam shield attached to the front for defence. Finally I want to make note of the Angel Halo, which is a large fortress powered by Newtypes, that if used, would put everyone on earth into a permanent coma and reverting their brain capacity to that of an infant after prolonged exposure. Yeahhhh The designs (which is what I’m meant to be review not saying now great the tech side is, my bad >_>) are pretty bland or just plain strange (like the idea’s really). The V2 is pretty good but the V1 is bland Gundam 101, the Zanscape units are mainly just strange but aren’t anything to write home about either, though the Dragon MA and some of the latter machines are pretty ok. Plot Now for the plot of this thing. The EF have gotten even worse then before, and now might as well have a large banner tied around the Earth saying “ Please invade us we’re sick of ruling, we’re lazy” thankfully some EF soldiers are still up for it. But the defence of Earth really comes down to the League Militaire a rag tag group of rebels of Earth made up mainly of old men, girls and children which has slight backing of some branches of the EF. Of course this small group has the man power to make the most powerful mechs in Gundam but lest just pass over that point. When Zanscare lands on Earth and begins its invasion, Uso is of course caught up in it and after seeing a friend of his put to the guillotine, resolves to fight Zanscare till the end. As he goes Uso meets new friends and we see most of these die in front of him, in either very well done ways or completely stupid ones ( a main character rams himself into a wheel of a huge Battle ship while in a core fighter as a “last ditch attempt to stop it from landing on earth. It fails and he along with the second V2 core fighter are killed. Right after he gets a large amount of character development.). the story also trys to say things about woman and how important they are as “gives of life” and it’s a major theme in the show…. Shame a woman dies every 2-3 episodes and the final bad guy is a woman isn’t. One thing I will say about Victory is its ending. The ending few episodes are some of the most intense, powerful moments in Gundam, including a epic battle though the atmosphere that ends on Earth, a death toll that would make Zeta blush, some good out of the Mobile Suits bits and space chicks in bikini’s with bazooka’s. >_________> ok so that last one is kinda out there… ok it makes no sense at all but every battles got to have a low right? at the end about 4 main characters are left (including that Fing Baby!!) and Katajina is now blind (yes she lives lol). End result? Its depressing, like really depressing, I still enjoyed watching it, it’s a decent enough Gundam show, but it’s a show that flips about alot, the highs are really high but the lows are like rock bottom. And itd characters can really get on your nerves as well… however credit where credit is due, this show seems to have a following among and isn't as universally hated as I thought before writing. But to me this show scrapes a 7/10 from me thanks to the ending, Uso and Kat along with the V2 next time is the one you've all been waiting for as I review the first AU of Gundam the crappy named G Gundam Edited by Black Golem, Sep 16 2010, 06:42 PM.

Mobile Fighter G Gundam![]() With Victory out the way next up is G Gundam the first AU Gundam show and the first show that’s name has no relation to the show at all, since you know the machines called God Gundam or the superior and more fitting Burning not G Gundam or Gundam G. But enough of this! Now I’m not going to lie I hate this show with a burning passion(lol) so if you’re expecting a nice fair review here, where I talk about how great the show is while pointing out its flaws, then theres a back button on your browser bye. Back on track this is the first full show not made by Tomino and its really the black sheep of Gundam in that its not even close to been a Gundam show. Its more like Street fighter in mechs frankly and makes less sense. There’s lots of stuff in this that you would expect of DBZ/ SF style shows. The show was made in tandem with its (much better) brother Gundam Wing, G Gundam was finished first and so aired first from April 1, 1994 – March 31, 1995. Well lets get on with this…. Characters Characters, pretty much there all pretty crap, Domon and Rain’s relationship is so terrible it beats the 0083 love triangle. With it taking half the show for Domon to even realize her existence only for her to get jealous because Domon is fighting a kid half his size then for her to run away from him because her father was one of the guys behind everything. I don’t even understand that part save for the obvious “we need Rain in space so we can throw her in the Dark Gundam” I preferred Newtype random romance to this off and on crap! Domon himself is the typical shōnen hero but with terrible move names (SHINING FINGER (wtf) SWORD!!!! (-__-) and a hand that is not only slightly radioactive and glows but he also thinks it can roar, he also likes to shout Kyoji!!!!!!!!!!!!!. His crew meanwhile is made up of a American boxer that is scared of clowns (really? That’s the best they can think of for his back story?). A French fencer who almost gets a good side arc till it becomes typical Dark Gundam monster of the week. A hyper Chinese monk kid that can use a move that he says should kill him twice and the big Russian Argo who actually has a good side story behind him. (side note; China and Russia are the good guys here? And France? Who the fuck likes the French! They expect me to be sad when I see the evil English guys total the France dude I was lolling my head off) any way bad guys are just as bad, Master failure is perhaps one of the most annoying characters ever made constantly shouting his mouth off even after Domon schools him when he gets Burning, and then we have maybe the guy's death scene ive seen in an anime (probably didn't help watching Naruto first and picturing Domon and Asia as Lee and Guy) . Then we have Ulube who can deflect ultimate attacks bay flexing his pecks…. Yeah. Finally the best villain is by far Kyoji!!!!!!!!!!!!! who’s laugh is probably the best line in this whole show. We also have the random masked dude who is a robo clone of Kyoji!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Allenby the hyper active young girl that has a sailor moon gundam. Mecha and Techs oh boy, to put it simply this show’s mechs are 98% crap bottom of the barrel crap, as we have everything from a Gundam made from balls to a fucking windmill Gundam. But lets go with the only ones that matter, first is Domon’s the Shinning and Burning Gundams, now both of these aren’t bad but at the same time there not great with the only stand out thing been the large ring on the back of Burning. Then we have the rest of the Shuffle alliance…. The Maxer is just bad (as in a Boxing, America football playing, surfing, magnum using robot bad), Rose is French and looks crap, Dragon is kinda cool but its design weres on me and I seem to dislike it the more I look at it and Bolt? Crap bulkily crap. So what about the bad guys? The bad guys always have cooler looking mecha right? NO! and yes, the bad guys are made up of Square Block Gundam, Ball on a stick Gundam, some strange spiky thing Gundam and a Gundam with to cones on its head as ears, that when it closes its wings it look like a Pin from bowling… ugh so what do they do? They then decide to stick them together to make a huge butt ugly abomination of a boss. However there is light at the end of this long dark tunnel , the Dark Gundam’s 1st and final 2 forms are absolute badass, in addition in the last few episodes we get to see by far G Gundams best designs when we see the RX-78, Zeta, GP01fb, Crossbone, F91 and the V2 gundams. but it gets better because we also see the mighty Wing Gundam as well and if you look for them there are also some awesome real Super Robots like Daitarn 3 and Zambot 3 in there to. Moving onto tech G trys its very trying. It has some of the best Nano Machine tech in Gundam from Dark gundam. But it also bosts the “Most realistic control system in Gundam” and them completely kills it by having Domon fire fireballs out of his hands -__- shouldn’t that blow a hole in his cockpit? And if he does not have the power to fire a Hadoken! Then how the fuck does the Burning when A it does not having any weapons there and B. the Burning is made to use Domons moves and if it’s his move then it must be done via some form of ki energy and so would come out of his hands not the fucking Mobile Suits!!!! And it gets better! For so long Ive seen people call these hump of Junk MS super Robots MY ASS Burning is such an inconsistent piece of trash! (one episode it can leave Earth’s atmosphere by itself to reach the finals but them after the finals we he needs to it needs help from the mecha horse!) Once more it does not even have a Super Robot sample move (yes this is me just ranting now) Where’s the chest/head beam! Or a Rocket Punch! Burning Gundam (and the rest) are NOT Super Robots they would be man handled so badly if they fought a Super they are real Robots with Super Pilots that’s all……. “Plot” ok G Gundam’s story is based around the idea that since the countries of the Earth have caused so much damage to Earth though war and other stuff, they leave Earth then to decide who gets to rule Earth they come up with a fighting tournament to decide which country rules the Earth for 4 years (ok fine). they then decide the best ring for this muti-national fighting tournament is the Earth its self(k). but rather than a normal fighting tournament it used Gundams giant machine s that can destroy citys….. wtf that makes no sense, there killing the Earth with war so they leave then send giant mechs down onto Earth to level the place in a pointlessly over the top tournament! Surely a normal tournament would be faster, cost less and cause far less damage to the environment!!! Anyway all the Gundam Fighters are sent down to their home country at random times and are then expected to roam around look of other Fighters, and then fight taking out half the landscape as they do. enter Domon who in true monster of the week style spends X amount of episodes teleporting around the globe fighting the local Gundam Fighter (cause Domon seems to be about the only fighter that leaves his home country) at this point I might as well be watching my friends on SF teleporting around the world fight random dudes. now I’m a Super robot fan I’m use to Monster of the Week style but there are shows that do it well, New getter, Gaogaigar or the king of Monster of the Week Big O Season 1, G Gundam doesn’t do it well! Anyway moving onto the rest of the story is main stuff about the Dark Gundam which is good… the first time. The problem I have is HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SEE THE SAME GUYS GET BEAT BEFORE THEY STAY DEAD!!!! Hell Asia gets beat in the highlands then shows up X number of episodes latter and I’m expected to be expecting a big fight, at this point he’s a joke Ive seen him be beat by Domon and Burning once, he hasn’t got a new Machine or attitude, I don’t care about this guy any more. Same goes for the Dark Gundam first battle was good. Second was kinda crap (especially when Sai uses his ultimately powerful super move that should kill him but it doesn’t!!) and the third was pointless AND anticlimactic. And why bring back a guy Domon schooled in 2.5 seconds in the first episode for the finals??? After the trash that was the finals we then have the “Final Battle” with the Dark Gundam (3rd time now) here we get random Gundams fighting in a poor(but more interesting) Space battle with the Dark Gundam. While inside we have Domon and co battle the ugliest mech ever, one shoting it (Sai again uses super move that should kill him) just for it to regenerate once Domon leaves. Then we arrive at the final, Domon vs the Final Dark Gundam everything is set up for an epic clash! but then Domon crys a bit says I love you, Rain steps out and they both use the power of Love to control the Burning from outside to fire a completely over the top blast at the crippled Dark Gundam THAT CAN’T FUCKING MOVE ANY MORE BECAUSE IT NEEDED RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tl:dr the beginning’s trash, the middle’s trash and the Ending is worst then both of them put together! Characters are crappy save for 1 or 2 and the whole show is just one big ass cluster fuck and is by far the worst Anime I have ever had to force myself to finish!! I would rather marathon Zeta and CCA 12 times before re watching this thing 3/10 ![]() OH GOD NO STAY AWAY PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! next time we have G’s brother Wing and lets put it this way it can’t get any worst… can it? New Mobile Report Gundam Wing![]() And now lets fast-forward a few months to April 7, 1995 (yes that’s a week after G ended lol) and the second AU of Gundam. Wing is loosely based on MSG and was met with slightly better reception then G was (good). It was also the Gundam that kinda changed up the normal character design of Gundam, to appeal to a wider audience and since im a man that isn't insecure enough to feel the need to consistently remind himself how much of a man he is and a designer myself I really don’t mind the new style, even if it did introduce yaoi fangirl bait (Trowa and Quatre). However Gundam Wing’s main claim to fame was it was the show that brought Gundam to the UK and US and is by far the most popular show in the west (its our Zeta! Lol). Did it deserve it? Lets see…. ![]() Music Wait! What? Music?! When did this come into my reviews? Well from now on, I’m going to be talking about music in these anime, why have I not talked about it before? Because every show up to this point have had a pretty poor OST, there are a few stand outs; F91 uses star wars’ imperial march, Victory has its Stand up to the VICTORY!!, ZZ and Anime Ja nani! CCA’s main theme And G ‘s flying in the sky are all good songs, however it was Wing that truly brought out a memorable OST. Theres nothing quite as epic as watching the Tallgeese in action with the epic OZ theme playing or watching the Gundams go to work with “The Wings Of A Boy” That playing in the background. Other standouts Duo’s “The Black Wind Invites Death” Trowa’s “Back In The Smell Of Blood And Gunpowder”, Quatre's “Looking For Peace Hiding In The Corps” and Wufai’s “When The Dragon Swims, Everthing Ends” also go from good to great easy. Add to these two very strong opening themes (the endings are weak imo) and other memorable themes like “Code Name Is Heero Yuy” and “Gundam Attack” and you can see the strong score that Wing brings. naturally it’s not all battle themes great passive themes like “Treize Khushrenada The Person Who Makes History” “Heero's Time Of Decision “ “Peace Is Broken And Time Is Moving On” and “Plot String & Marionette” are all fine music that are used effectively to enhance the mood and tension that plays out though out the story. An interesting thing about Wing is also that each of the main characters got a theme song none of which made it into the show which I thought was a dam shame as some of them like Zechs are very good. Wing’s over all score is great and it really comes though to a degree that the previous shows just did not match, and it was from Wing onward the music really began to make a noticeable impact in Gundam. ![]() Characters Characters are by far Wings worse point, with most characters either not getting enough back story for anyone to really care about them or just been plain bland and or annoying. The Wings main characters the Gundam Pilots are by far the best example of this most of their back story is not explained leading them to either be bland, (Heero, Trowa), annoying (Wufai, Quatre and Duo at times, though this is mainly Wufai). this is in part because the writer did not have time to do the two episodes devoted to their back-story (which would latter appear in a standalone Manga) however it’s not something I can ignore in that I don’t want to have to read some random book to find out about the MAIN CHARACTERS of a show. Heero the main of the main characters comes (who came off as completely badass when I watched it when I was younger) is very guilty of this though he by far has some of the best development by the end of the show. He also likes to tell people he will kill them but never does it, shame… Duo is the regular guy of the cast however like the rest he has a flaw in show and that’s. Why is he even here? His motives for becoming a Gun dam Pilot are never shown in show and that hurts him making him almost like a useful comic relief character which is a shame. In fact this lack of motive hurts pretty much all the Gundam pilots, Trowa (aside from having perhaps the stupidest hair in Gundam and been able to live though an explosion and then float in space for god knows how long and live) is really bland thanks to this and Wufai comes off as a grade- S jerk and moron thanks to this. Quatre has the least kinks in his character though he’s still not terribly interesting plus he has the “Heart of Space” making him AC resident Newtypeish thing. ![]() what does this have to do with anything? I don't know looked funny so I put it in ![]() The last main annoying person I shall go over is Relena “Total Pacifism” Peacecraft, who falls in love with a random guy she meets on the beach that threatens to kill her. She also can’t open her mouth without saying Pacifism at least twice every sentence and even after she gets her big moment becoming Queen of the Earth she proves useless and is sharply kicked out of that seat by Treize. This brings me onto the two gems of Wing, Treize and Zechs. Now nether of these are perfect, Treize has plot armour that would make every other Gundam Main added together blush, and is one of those characters that seems to know whats going to happen 5 episodes in advance. He also has one of the most idiotic ideas for ending war Ive heard yet. Zechs meanwhile starts off as a run of the mil Char clone did right, but he really evolves as the show goes on and is by far the best character in Wing, he virtually goes though everything Char did in his 2 seasons and a movie in 1. But somehow it doesn’t feel as disjointed as Chars did since there’s no large time gaps and so we see him evolve, though I’m sure his evilness at the end is all down to Epyon system development. However he seems to agree with Treizes stupid idea despite never been told about it by the man himself. Mecha and Techs Wings strange on the Mech side, most of the Grunts have a very plain design but still have charm, there’s still some fug ugly ones like the two underwater OZ machines and the Aries. On the Gundam side we have Wing and its virtual double the Wing Zero which is pretty nice, the Deathscythe which certainly has that cool factor but a double bladed scythe for the upgrade? Really what was the point. Heavyarms was a nice twist as the first artillery based Gundam to be animated, its update is hardly recognizable though. Sandrock isn’t the best design in the world but as far has a defence based Gundam goes it was a good they didn’t go with the normal bulky design. Shenlong and its update I have no love for tbh sure its better then G’s Dragon but I don’t know maybe it’s the idea of a flamethrower in space? And whats with the tail on the update? Two last standouts are of course the Tallgeese which like a lot of Wings mecha has a lot of charm behind it, I feel like the only guy who likes the Tallgeese II over the normal though :P. Finally we have Epyon which is by far the best “evil” looking Gundam released so far, I was said to see it end up as the end enemy suit as I thought having the Wing Zero as the final boss would have really made Wing standout. On to the tech part now and wow, AC is very strange on this front one side the Grunts are UC 0100 level, the Gundams are F91 and Epyon and Wing Zero are verging on reaching Victory level (it gets even stranger when the Manga’s are factored in). With that as a basic guide we then have the Mobile Dolls, now while I do like this idea actually making grunts powerful (they still die just as fast later on though..) I think they could of did with more Ace’s rather than ultimate Grunts as our late big enemys, we also have the Zero system which is a Biocomputer turned up to danger levels AND a character development system all in one! I like this system but when it’s been used to advance characters it just bad. ![]() Not only can I blow colony's up, but step in side and you have a 50 % chance of going insane if you don't your character will have developed 10 X faster and you will have no doubts Story Ok now onto Wings story like most Gundams the first half of the show mainly takes place on Earth with the story moving to space for the final. The story begins with the five Gundam’s been sent to Earth as part of Operation Meteor, a plan to attack OZ a group within the Earth Sphere Alliance(read Earth Federation)by the colony’s . In the first episode we get to see our head line unit the Wing Gundam take on our token masked man and you have to admit as far as débuts go Wings is pretty bad also Heero has his awesome laugh hear which he never does again. From here on we are slowly introduced to the other main characters like Duo, Trowa, Quatre and Wufai as each unleash unholy mayhem on earth using their nigh on invisible Gundams. We also get to learn more about Zechs as he goes though his own story parts where we learn about his past and himself along with more people in OZ like Lady Une, Treize and Zechs fangirl (latter lover) Noin. Each of the pilots get their own story arcs (Heero goes to school and picks up an annoying tagalong girl, Duo attempts to be Heero’s friend, Trowa works as a clown, Quatre learns to play a violin and Wufai shouts at woman and animals) leading them to cross paths every now and then. Gundam Wing is also the first show to really do a true Gundam team, in that not only are the 5 Gundams on the same side, but they also each are very tied to the overall plot of the show to the point that you can’t really take one away, something which previous Gundam shows didn’t quite get right, ZZ had problems making the other members of the team stick out sometimes, Victory was pretty much reliant on Uso’s skills and G felt like the SA was just along for the ride and really didn’t affect the main plot much at all. Its also worth noting that G and Wing were made at the same time by different producers so it didn’t take anything from it (thank god). As all this happens, Treize enacts his master plan and takes over most of the Earth by tricking the Gundam Pilots. Before OZ stages a plan to destroy the Gundams themselves leading Heero to self destruct his Gundam and somehow survive despite been thrown out of the cockpit, falling about 16 meters and having a huge pool of blood below him. The second half of the show is much less straight forward, with OZ now working to gain support from the colony’s this leaves the Gundam Pilots in tough spots as they attempt to adjust their mission to the changing times and continue to attack OZ, this leads the battle to shift to Space. Things get interesting as the scientists behind the Gundams become involved, the pilots themselves are caught by OZ (or join them), the powerful Mobile Dolls are introduced as is the Wing Zero and its Zero system along with other plot points on Earth like the Epyons appearance and the Snac Kingdom arc before everything winds up for the grand finale. Which in true Gundam fashion is (basically) a colony drop, the final battle is a huge high and is up there with some of the best Gundam ends yet, from the epic duel between Heero and Zechs to the iconic ending shot by Heero. The final is anything but boring. Za Rap up Overall Wing is a very solid show but it has its flaws, Characters can be very annoying (dam I love this word) and the whole “Total pacifism is right message which comes across as a lot of pseudo-philosophical babble, because total pacifism has to be defended through force of arms in the show most of the time. That is obviously a contradiction, and it shows how unlikely it is for pacifism to grip the entire world. But somehow that magically happens as Heero and Zechs duke it out, and the entire world declares peace. A lot of the characters needed more exploration. However as the show that started the “IT’S A GUNDAM!!! BOOM!!!” joke and really perfected and joint created the AU tradition of a powerful group of Gundams working together along with single handily bringing Gundam to the west and making it popular, really shows this shows merits. The show is very action packed but still makes time for pseudo-politics, which keeps things interesting, and I quite enjoyed the moments of calm the show had like the school sections. 8/10 ![]() I had to.... We also Chan Amuro’s latest Girl who is pointless(what was wrong with Beltorchika?) and dies pointlessly by our next character Bright’s son Katz mk2 Hathaway who is even worse then Katz! What’s more this waste of space LIVES!!
