Today I won't be reviewing a game, I'll be ranting for a bit. This game is unplayable in any way, shape or form. It's Beyblade: Let It Rip...now before I begin, I'll get this out of the way. You know a game is bad when the title makes a fucking fart joke. First off, there's no instructions on how to play the game...seriously. Even the game booklet doesn't fucking know how this piece of shit works. You just start a match and hope to God that your top is the last one spinning. You can try picking different characters and "beyblades" but there's no difference in playing style. Once in a match the AI will rape you more times than not. Even when you figure out how to play the game the actual gameplay is boring as Hell and will get old faster than painting your living room with your flacid cock. The worst part is that eventually I did learn to play and still lost constantly because my fucking top kept spinning out of the small arena no matter what I did. I take back what I said about Jimmy Neutron, there are far worse games than it.

Dead Island Overview: Probably the worst game I've ever played. Only 5 days after getting it, I'm considering returning the game. It's absolutely terrible. Plot: Taking place on the island of Banoi, you wake up in your hotel room after a night of heavy drinking and find that the hotel is awfully quiet and seems deserted. Looking around, you suddenly find yourself and a group of others surrounded by the living dead, passing out once more. You wake up again in a hut with others who survived the outbreak, and are told that you and a select group of other survivors are all immune to whatever is causing the zombie outbreak. Now it is up to you to help any still living on the island, and try to find a way to escape. While the premise is very good, it's poorly executed. The game seems more or less like a "do-what-you-want" game and it probably would have been more successful if done that way. The story realy doesn't effect the game or the player much, so there's no real immersion. Graphics: To start off, the graphics are good, no question about it. When a zombie is hit, their skin peels away slowly, revealing the muscle over time. If a limb is broken, a bone might stick out. If a limb is severed, the blood spatter is very real down to very small drops. The environment is gorgeous to look at as well. But, there are two problems. The first is texturing, which sometimes takes time to load. This even happens when aiming a gun, which fucks with your aim. The second is character models, which are ugly and downright unexpressive. There are a ton of games that are in this topic that had more expressive characters than this game. It makes the touching scenes of the game utterly pointless. Gameplay: The game is a sandbox RPG, allowing the player the ability to roam around large areas, though transitions are needed at certain points. You are issued missions in which you can gain money, experience and weapons. These missions range in difficulty from very easy to very hard and can be anything from a "kill this", escort or numerous other types. You have a health bar, stamina bar and experience bar. The stamina bar goes down when sprinting, swinging your weapon (which is stupid to begin with; it doesn't take much effort to swing a weapon) or when knocked down (stamina goes to 0 and you take FOREVER to get up). With every zombie you kill and mission you complete your experience goes up until you increase your Exp level. Every time you level up your health increases, but stamina stays the same. You need to pick certain skills on the skill tree (unique to each of the 4 main characters) in order to increase stamina and provide many other effects to increase your combat efficiency (you'll need it). There are three main types of weapons: blunt, edge and firearm. Blunt weapons don't deal alot of damage, but have more force and knockback, able to force zombies to the ground or send them flying. They break limbs, are highly durable and are often slower in swinging speed. Edge weapons are very damaging, able to hack off limbs of zombies with little effort, dealing bleeding damage, which can slowly kill a zombie. They are the opposite of blunt weapons, being more fragile, having low power, and being very fast in speed with the exception of the axe family. Firearms are very rare and don't come into play until Act II of the game. There are 6 guns in the game: the revolver, the pistol, the single shot rifle, the auto rifle, the burst rifle and the shotgun. Each has a different power, rate of fire and accuracy, but most importantly they take very little ammo and ammo is scarce in the game unless you routinely run into human enemies. As for your opponents, you have 8 types, including the humans. The Walker is your standard shambling zombie. It moves slow early on but becomes faster as the game progresses, which goes against how a zombie would move anyway, but they threw physics out the window when you lose stamina by simply swinging a knife. These zombies, like the infected later on, can grab on to you, swing at you and even use weapons (again, bad zombie logic). The next step is the Thug, a towering zombie that, like a zombie should, moves slow as fuck, but packs a punch fit for its size (a zombie's strength is proportional to the strength and size of its human self). However, these guys can get unrealistically hard when flanked by other zombies. The Infected are honestly the most annoying, irritating, unnecessary pieces of shit to ever be added to zombie lore, and they make the gameplay ever more frustrating. They are like the walkers in every way except their blinding speed and how fast they strike, able to close in a gap and send your health to 0 in only 2 seconds (yes, I timed it). The Floater is a water based zombie that appears in sewers and watery areas. They're slow, but they serve as long-range support, throwing poisonous spit at you that does massive damage. Again, on their own they're nothing, but when flanked by faster Infected zombies they can be a massive pain. The Suicider is the least threatening opponent. In fact, they can be used against other zombies. These walking bombs detonate after a few seconds of contact with the player. The explosion is so powerful it does quadruple digit damage, meaning instant death for anything near it. The Ram is a giant, powerful zombie that can kill you instantly if it hits with its ram attack. Again, it's almost painfully easy on its own, but when bringing up the rear of a small group, it's a terrifying opponent. The Butcher is the last zombie you find in the game, and is the most rare. This zombie is so rare that it's not really worth speaking about (I've only fought and killed 9). However, it is the most dangerous of all the zombies. It runs and strikes like an Infected zombie, but its arms are nothing but forearm bones left over from an "accident". These bones make for powerful slashing attacks that deal more damage. Plus they can tank damage like the Thug and the Ram. Yes, be afraid...be VERY afraid. The humans are just gang members and guards in certain settings, armed with guns and usually pipes, batons and knives and, more commonly, firearms. You usually fight them on the street or in places where health and ammo for firearms are common, so don't sweat it too much. Characters: There are 4 characters who you can choose to play as. First off, there's Logan, a former football star who lost his career due to a crash during a street race which killed the female passenger in his car. He is trying to salvage the wreckage of his life following this, and often drowns his discontent in alcohol. He is the "Jack-of-all-Trades", a balanced class that prefers throwing weapons over everything else. This, however, makes him useless in the game as he concentrates on the worst weapon sub-type. Second is Sam B, an old school rapper who made a name for himself with the song "Who Do You Voodoo, Bitch?" which became an international hit. However, he never managed to make another hit again, and is stuck playing the same song over and over again. He's on the island trying to find a record deal. Sam B is the "Tank" class. He has alot of health, which is a good thing, because he also specializes in blunt weapons, which are often slower than the other types. However, it makes him useful. Next is Xian Mei, an agent for a Chinese anti-crime agency, she is working on Banoi because her male superiors won't let her see field action. Mei is the "Assassin" class, an expert with edged weapons. She has higher stamina than anyone, but lower health. She dishes out the highest damage ratings in the game due to a jumping attack that increases her attack power up to 66% or more. Purna is the final member of the team. She is an ex-cop who shot a wealthy man after his teenage daughter hung herself due to sexual abuse. She now works as a bodyguard for hire. Purna is the "Leader" class and a firearms expert. She's not in her element early on, but her rage attack allows her to boost her stats and use a gun early on, so she's more useful than Logan. Voice Acting: Hit and miss, mostly. Some voices are really good and others are painful to listen to, but it's all useless due to facial animations, or lack there of. Music/Sound: A surprisingly good thing about this game that would make it the ultimate survival horror game, provided everything else wasn't average or shit. The soundtrack and use of sounds makes every moment terrifying and intense, so much so that it made me paranoid with every step I took. Levels: The island of Banoi is an amazing setting for the game. From the resort to the slums and to the prison island, each place is varied and has its own feel and type of terror. Difficulty: Rant mode, activate...THIS GAME IS SHIT!!!! The fucking difficulty in this game is so lopsidedly hard that triple digit deaths are inevitable. The AI fucking rapes you every fucking second, either attacking you from behind or taking advantage of bad hit detection or your blind spot. Enemies level up as you do, making the act of grinding for experience or even leveling up a completely pointless act. You're FORCED to rely on the strength of your weapons rather than actual skill at playing the game, and even then it's no guarantee. The enemies can become so frustratingly cheap and annoying that I had to stop playing for a day due to migraines, high blood-pressure and light-headedness; all of it induced by anger. Overall: I don't even want to talk about it at length. It's terrible, end of story. The worst game I've ever played. A concept that should be easy to work with, but in practice became an overhyped piece of garbage. I give Dead Island a 0/10. Edited by Omega, Sep 11 2011, 03:33 PM.

I used to want to play Fighting Eyes, but after seeing how ridiculous the gameplay is, I gave up about wanting to play it. Also, Psychic Force 1. The only game that includes really terrible English voice acting for me. Bomberman Land for the different gameplay... I am not used with it and it's more stupid than the usual "use bombs to destroy enemies and get hidden power-ups" type of game. And that racing attraction annoys me. Even though I hate to say this, most people say Bloody Roar 4 sucks. Not just the voice acting, but also the gameplay and the new features. And Long and Shina becoming unlockable. Nuff said. Mega Man X5's plot. Need I say more? |
