Here you can discuss wether or not the sequels of games beat, meet, or fail compared to their predicessors So a game that i believe is a good one for comparison is MODERN WARFARE VS MODERN WARFARE 2 Now I personally think the addition of a two player co op mode was a good addition but i think a full two player campaign would have been better. Also The campaign in 2 seems very similar to the campaign in the first with general plot twists and obvious dying characters. Fortunatly the Multiplayrer is superb rivaling its predicessor. Also the addtion of a Custom Kill streak improves it even more Overall: MODERN WARFARE VS MODERN WARFARE 2 = TIE |

Here is an example of a failed sequel.....I'm a Fighting gamer so I'll do a fighting game.... Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate vs Mortal Kombat 4 In 1997 Tekken 3 was taking arcades and playstation owners by storm...With Virtua Fighter already popular the fighting game genre took even more steps into the 3D realm..Even the king of all fighting games Street Fighter went 3d with Street fighter EX..Mortal Kombat was the the first popular 2d fighting franchise to cross over....Mortal Kombat 4 had a severe drop in playable characters, replacing long time favorites such Kitana, Kano, Kung Lao and Ermac with new uninteresting and lackluster guys that no one cared about like Tanya, Reiko, Jarek and Kai...The game's pace was slow in comparison to high flying and rapid fire combos of MK3 and MK3 Ultimate..The fatalities, Mortal Kombat's main attraction went having from simple commands that even a young child could execute in mk2 and 3 to long awkward motions that NO ONE could pull off successfully..The fact that the game gives you hardly any time to attempt the fatality only made the matter worse..That made me stop giving a fuck about fatalities altogether....another point is that it was horribly slow and sometimes it would stop processing to load in the middle of a fight..That caused me to lose many fights to the computer back in the day..... Meanwhile Capcom continued to push the envelope and redefine the fighting genre with innovative and fresh titles such as X-men vs street fighter and Street Fighter alpha 2..Capcom also had 3d fighting titles such as rival schools and star gladiator that were FAR superior to MK4....MK 4's rival game at the time was Street Fighter ALPHA 2.. A2 had a smooth and fluid control scheme and had an excellent play system...Chain combos, special cancels, super cancels, Alpha counters, juggles, air combos and new play strategies such as loop, rush and lockdown drove new life into the SF series, reinvigorated old fans SF 2 and attracted legions of new fans that hadnt played street fighter 2 previously...MK4 did NOT do the same for the Mortal Kombat franchise.... I think MK4 was the beginning of Mortal Kombat's fall from grace in the gaming world...in 1999 midway released an updated version for PS1 and Sega Dreamcast that brought back some of the popular characters that they previously removed..It was called mortal kombat gold...It was too little too late to save a game that was doomed from the start....By that time Street Fighter ALPHA 3 had been released and it KO'd every other fighting game out at the time.....MK gold stood no chance against it..After MK4 Mortal Kombat took a long needed hiatus...Midway returned 4 years later with a better game in MK deadly alliance and reclaimed some of its fans....All of the hardcore MK fans from the 90s are now adults and have found other stuff to play instead...Soul Calibur took the sacred spot in my game library once held by MK..I hope they can reclaim MK's lost glory on the 2010 game winner: Ultimate Mk 3 by unanimous decision Edited by Strider Seiryu, Feb 26 2010, 03:46 PM.

SLY COOPER 1 VS SLY COOPER 2 VS SLY COOPER 3 a three way (hehe) competition I remember the first time i played sly cooper it was my favorite game. The game that made me want to immdiatly go out and buy a PS2. I loved every minute of taking down a frog, Crocodile, dog, panda, and a giant mechanical owl. When i heard about Sly two i was amped even more so when i heard the two other protagonist were actually playable not just for a stupid rc car and dont let him get hurt mini game. Yet i was devastatedly upset when i found out that they could not steal. The entire basis of the game was you were the greatest thief in the world yet your partners could not steal that was a major downfall for me. Another down fall was the limited ability meter. I couldnt do all of my cool tricks now that i had a meter. (couldnt slow down time then place an army of fake me's then kill a guy). Luckily the graphics were amped up to higher quaility. They even made the cast look older then they did in the first game which was a plus. Towards the end tho i was very disappointed. The final boss which was a female verzion of Clockwork from the first game had no challange to it plus no metallic voice when it spoke to me making annoying puns. It destroyed the Clockwork hard final boss name! Yet it did instead make taking out the other bosses more difficult. They also took out those impossible races and added a more important use for the two characters and added a better open world enviroment. Overall: SLY COOPER 1 VS SLY COOPER 2= TIE When Sly Cooper 3 came out i was very happy again as i had not been able to find a good game in a while. Even more so when i heard that they had fixed some stuff to the game. They added replayable missions but not in a way i hoped along with a two player game (Which wasnt very good). They added full ability to steal to two of the team members. In this game you recieved even more team memebers infact the entire game was a flashback about how you got your team members. The addtion of the team members was good and bad. I enjoyed playing as two bosses from the first game and having the ability to play as Bently the smart turtle in his wheelchair after the second game incedent. But playing as the new character (besides the original three) was not fun mainly because you could not go out into the open world eviroment with them just the original three. once again tho they made the characters look older and kept the comedy and fun charm of the game. My biggest problem tho with the game was the fact that again they destroyed Clockworks hard final boss name. Adding a extremly smart monkey who was your dads partner as the final boss and making the exact same as the first game does not make it OK. Yet the final plot twist and the last cut scene that you get to see if you watch all the credits makes it worth it. Overall: SLY COOPER 2 VS SLY COOPER 3 = SLY 3 WINS Sly i cant wait to see how you and your team end up in Sly 4 coming out Q3 to Q4 of 2010 or 2011 |
