Act 41

[The following day, Dante, Sakura and Anna are all first to rise. The expressions they bear are of cheer, having settled a problem that plagued the group from the start of the trip. They decide to sneak out once again for the final park: MGM Studios (which would be renamed years later). The park is a redesign of a Hollywood studio lot, complete with several rides and attractions based on famous films. The three start off by rushing to the ride with the longest line: The Tower of Terror. This behemoth ride looms over MGM Studios, the screams of those who enter echo from the top. It is an elevator, a simple thing, but one that happens to drop its victims over ten stories down at random intervals and with just gravity doing the work. Anna gulps, actually frightened of the very thought of the ride. Dante begins to tease her.]

Dante: Come on, Anna. Don't tell me you're scared.

Anna: I'm not scared, it's just that I don't like the thought of falling to my death from over ten stories...

[Sakura laughs.]

Sakura: I have to admit being a little scared too.

Dante: I'm just kidding with you. But this thing will churn your stomach big time.

Anna: Oh damn, and I already ate too...

Dante: But like me you're always eating anyway, my little foodie.

[They exchange a smile before heading even closer to the center of the tower's hotel entrance. After a pre-ride show the tower works its magic, hoisting the passengers to the very top and then suddenly dropping. Anna passes out, her senses overloaded from the abrupt drop. She wakes up later, cradled in Dante's arms as he and Sakura wait for her to regain consciousness.]

Dante: Ah, there you are, we were wondering when you'd finally come to.

Sakura: Are you feeling okay now? Does anything feel weird?

Anna: No...I just feel tired.

Dante: That's just grogginess. Take a nap for now, we'll continue in a little bit.

Anna: Thanks...

[She lays across Dante and Sakura's laps, falling asleep within minutes. When she wakes up it's already past noon, most of the day having gone by. She rubs her eyes.]

Anna: Where am I?

Dante: We're still in the park, silly. You've been asleep for a while now.

Anna: I'm sorry...

Sakura: Don't be, Dante organized this trip for your sake.

Dante: I just got word that the others already left for New York. We'll be heading back tomorrow.

Anna: Okay then...let's leave, I just want to spend the rest of the time here by just being with you two.

[Dante nods and carries Anna all the way back to the bus.]

Act 42

[The following morning, the three, along with Tulio, took the first flight back to Queensbury. Anna sat with Tulio, finally enjoying the time she was spending with him. Dante and Sakura smiled the entire way back. The trip had been a success, and neither would soon forget the events that had transpired there, the ones that had brought the family together. They touch down in the airport, rain pouring down upon the whole complex. They gather their luggage and catch a ride back to Queensbury on one of the many buses. The ride back as particularly touchy feely, with Dante, Sakura and Anna hugging, and, in some cases, kiss, or at least Dante and Sakura do. Tulio sneaks in a peck or two on Anna, but knows that now she's his niece. Anna, however turns around and gives him one, final, big kiss on the lips.]

Anna: Thank you...Tulio. You've made me so happy.

Tulio: I..I..I..

[Tulio blushes, having risen to an occasion that would never come. He wants to kiss her again, his hand on her stomach, rubbing gently. She blushes as well, locking eyes with Tulio. He goes in for another, but Anna stops him.]

Anna: We can't, Tulio...we're family now.

Tulio: But I...

[There is a silence between them. Tulio's head hangs low in sadness. But, he manages to smile, knowing his brother would not allow it to begin with, and his ultimate goal to begin with is to make Dante proud. A little over an hour from Albany airport, they finally arrive in Queensbury. They return to Dante's house for the first home cooked meal that they've had since Sakura's arrival in their world. Dante fires up the stove and oven and makes one of his signature dishes from Ristorante di Toscana: Braised beef with a portobello and porchini mushroom risotto, paired with eggplant caponata, a salad consisting of eggplant, celery, capers and peppers, all seasoned with vinegar and sugar. Dante's take on this classic dish also incorperates potatoes. He also adds a pasta dish, with a wide, homemade pasta, topped with a roast pork and mushroom ragu sauce. The smells from the kitchen are near intoxicating, prompting Anna and Sakura to hang around the kitchen as sous chefs, when, in actuality, they wanted to taste the sauce. Dante pours drinks, an italian soda that he made himself by combining a homemade syrup with soda water or selzter. When everything is complete, he brings the food the the table, raising a toast to the new family.]

Dante: Heres to our new family. May we share many new moments together, and whether good or bad, we remain strong.

All: Cheers!

[They begin to eat. With April just beginning, they would soon be in the throws of beautiful spring, with blossoms in the air, and a cooling rather than chilling breeze that sweeps across the state. Rain will leave a calming, light scent to the air. Dante's new family by his side, there seemed to be a new life in him. A sense that there would finally be peace. And there, at that table, nobody spoke meaninglessly. The conversation was constructive, fun and enjoyable. With the backdrop of a rainy April day, all, it seemed, was at peace.]
