Random NPC Quest Tutorial
If your like me and hate the whole putting in a quest script and configuring it so it works with you. Here's a quick way to make a quest. This quest event is like in one of those free-roam games, where a NPC just has a Question mark over the head and when you talk and complete the quest, question mark goes away
THIS IS ONLY FOR RETRIVING QUEST LIKE GETTING A LETTER OR FINDING SOMETHING. So onwards!

Here's a demo if don't bother reading this. Just study it or copy it.

Step 1: Create 2 Switches. Name them your Quest Name and one that says completed "C". Mine are gonna be called "Letter Quest" and "Letter Quest C" Also make an item that you need to retrieve.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Step 2: Create an event with your NPC, with 3 pages. Keep the graphic the same in all three of them. Make another even called "question mark you can put it anywhere.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Step 3: In the first page of the NPC, put in the Switch with just the quest name, then make the NPC say he has a problem, then show 2 choices, "yes" and "no"

Spoiler: click to toggle

Step 4: Now in the Question mark event make it "Show a Question Balloon Icon, on the NPC, then put wait 60 frames, put it "Above Characters", and the Trigger is "Parallel Process", What this does is makes the question mark keep repeating,

Spoiler: click to toggle

Step 5: Make a second page on the question mark event and on that page, keep everything the same and put the conditions, the quest name switch on. Now go back to the NPC Event, 1st page. In the "yes" choice, Make the NPC say something, like "thank-you" or telling you where to find the item put in "self switch a on". In the "no" choice, make the NPC say that he/she will still be there, then put the control switch quest name "off"

Spoiler: click to toggle

Step 6: In the second page make the conditions now make a condional Branch with the Item that you needed to retrieve in inventory, now above the else divider, make the NPC say something like "thank-you" then put your "quest name completed switch on" and in the "Else part" make say where the item is again so if the player forgets where the item is, the NPC will tell you again.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Step 7: Now in the 3rd page make the conditions, make the quest name completed switch on, and make him say "thank-you" or something like that.

Spoiler: click to toggle

AND THERE YOU GO!
