There are certain kinds of characters called NPC (Non-Playable) characters that you may use or create specifically for situations when a third party or static information giver is needed. These characters do not need a biography written out for them, nor do they need to make more than one appearance throughout the RPG. Examples of NPC characters could be: barmaids, butlers, animals, streetwalkers, merchants, etc. NPCs are flat characters that are useful for causing/correcting conflict within plots. If you find that an NPC you've created is beginning to grow on you, or you play it so often that it may as well be one of your main characters, you may wish to fully flesh them out by submitting a biography for them. But only if you want to. You needn't include these characters in your signature either. But you can. The only condition is, if one member introduces an NPC in their IC post, that NPC will be controllable by that one member alone. So it's not a complete free-for-all. Unless they give expressed permission deeming otherwise. |
